Thank you to everyone who came out for our Y108 8 Man Jam at Rivers Casino. It was an amazing event! Check out some of the tweets about it below, plus all of this weeks best tweets!

Taylor Swift won the big award of the night last sunday with her “Woman Of The Year” award, but she wasn’t the only winner on the Billboard Music Awards.

Carrie Underwood took the stage with a stunning performance of her title track Blown Away, and it looks like it was the front row that was almost “blown away!”

Also, check out Taylor’s twit pic of her “13″ dressing room last night!

Alan Jackson has been raising money and who still has their Christmas Tree up in May?

It’s all in today’s Country Tweets!

There was also a HUGE announcement about a label change! Over 2 decades since Tim McGraw’s start in Nashville he has moved to a new home.

I think it’s time for Tim McGraw to write a song called “Taylor Swift!” lol..

Make sure you check back every day to keep up with your favorite country stars on twitter right here! Ally

Justin Moore and Gary Allan, which I’m super, super pumped up about ’cause I’ve…he’s probably been my biggest modern country influence, ever. I mean, since Smoke Rings in the Dark came out. And Sunny Sweeney’s gonna be on there — love her, too. There’s gonna be a couple other acts. It’s gonna be fun. It’s gonna be a blast.”

Quinn Mulhern defeated Yuri Villefort via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)

Isaac Vallie-Flagg defeated Gesias Cavalcante via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

- Main Card

Chris Spang defeated Nah-Shon Burrell via KO @ 1:35 of the 1st Round: Burrell pushed the pace with strikes until Spang dropped Burrell with a left hook. Burrell got up as Spang rushed in and tied up Burrell with a thai clinch and landed several knees to the head of Burrell until he was dropped once more and referee Josh Rosenthal stepped in to stop the fight.

Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante defeated Mike Kyle by submission via guillotine choke @ 0:33 of the 1st Round: Kyle ducked an over hand right from Feijao but got rocked with a picture perfect knee on the chin that sent him wobbling into the cage. Feijao landed eight short punches and applied at standing guillotine choke but Kyle remained on his feet. The choke got tighter and tighter and Kyle lifted him up and slammed him down as a last ditch effort but Feijao held on to the choke and Kyle tapped.

Gilbert Melendez defeated Josh Thompson via split decision to retain the Lightweight Championship (48-47, 48-47, 48-47): This was back and forth fight from beginning to end. It all came down to the first round as it could have gone either way. Melendez Melendez hit Thompson with an accidental poke to the eye at 1:54 of the 2nd round. Thompson went down from another eye poke in the 3rd round but Gilbert’s fist was closed and he voiced this to the referee and the ref in turn told Thompson the fist was closed. Thompson hit a nice leg trip but Melendez rolled through and got back to his feet.

Thompson rocked Melendez in the 4th round with a straight right hand but he never went in to capitalize. Thompson did some effective things with his counter punching but needed to move forward more with his attack. Melendez showed excellent head movement and mixed up his punches to the head and body. Thompson landed another trip takedown but was able to keep Melendez on the ground this time and attempted a rear naked choke but couldn’t get his arm under the chin but controlled his back for the last 1:35 of the fourth round.

Melendez took down Thompson in the fifth round but Thompson got up right away and started winning the punching exchanges. Thompson stuffed a takedown attempt but got hit with a knee to the head. Melendez poked Thompson in the eye, again, and the referee gave Melendez a stern warning. Thompson hit the inside trip with 0:33 left in the fight and hit some very effective punches inside Melendez’s guard until time expired. Melendez’s fiancé looked very concerned. Fans in the arena booed the decision and Thompson could not believe the decision went the other way. Both fighters were true professionals in their post fight interviews. These two are always going to have close fights as they bring out the best in each other.

Daniel Cormier defeated Josh Barnett via unanimous decision to become the Strikeforce Heavyweight World Grand Prix Champion (49-46, 50-45, 50-45): Cormier did a great job of keep Barnett off balance throughout the first round by mixing up his punches, moving his head and changing levels. Barnett hurt Cormier with a knee with 0:20 left and Cormier pushed and held Barnett against the cage to close the round.

Cormier shot for a single leg and took down Barnett in the 2nd round and landed in his guard. Barnett attempted a triangle choke but Cormier postured up and landed an elbow that hurt Barnett. Barnett attempted an armbar but Cormier escaped and landed some more elbows that cut Barnett. Cormier avoided Barnett’s half guard and landed another elbow between the eyes of Barnett to end the round. Barnett’s trainer said during the rest period “You can not let him take you down like that again.”

Cormier got the high crotch and hoisted up Barnett and slammed him down and landed in side control. Barnett scrambles up but lands in a guillotine choke but he easily escaped. Cormier attempted another single leg and Barnett shook it but was caught with a right head kick that hurt and made him back off against the cage. Cormier picked him apart with punches and knees and attempted a german suplex but Barnett prevented that from happening.

The pace slowed down in the 4th round Barnett missed a spinning back fist. Cormier landed another single leg takedown but Barnett rolled his hips and applied a leg lock. Cormier looked nervous for a few seconds but used his right heel to push off and escape.

Cormier rode his bicycle in the fifth round as Barnett went on the attack. Cormier missed a couple of head kicks and landed a 1,2 punch combos. Cormier pinned Barnett against the cage for the last sixty seconds of the fight. Barnett tried his hardest to get off the cage using double under hooks but Cormier’s hips would not move.

Josh Barnett revealed in the post fight interview that he “broke the ever-loving crap” out of his left hand in the first round when he hit Corimer with a left hook. Cormier proved that he is the real deal and looked liked a grizzled veteran through the fight.

Get ready for lots of drinking, loud music, screaming fans and sweating your bootays off! It’s well worth it though! The riverfront shows begin at 10am on Thursday with Montgomery Gentry kicking it off. The best thing about it? The shows are free at the riverfront. Those with a CMA Pass do get in 30 minutes early, but it really doesn’t make a difference.

Check out the Riverfront lineup here: http://ww1.cmaworld.com/cma-music-festival/lineup/chevrolet-riverfront

To be honest, I’m more excited about the riverfront shows than LP Field…Soaking up the sun on the river with beer! Nothing beats that!

Lets not forget about the Bud Light Stage at the Bridgestone! Lineup: http://ww1.cmaworld.com/cma-music-festival/lineup/bud-light-stage

There is tons to do during the CMA Fest and I’ll be posting with updates around town on my twitter. so follow me Don’t forget about the bars in downtown Nashville. Amazing artists are performing all around town! Fan Club Parties will be happening as well!…..so much to do, so little time!!

It’s going to be an event like we’ve never seen before, with all 8 artists on stage at the same time!

I can’t wait to see Craig Morgan, Phil Vassar, Casey James, Josh Thompson, Bucky Covington, James Wesley, Thomas Rhett & Pittsburgh’s Joe Grushecky in this intimate acoustic performance at Rivers Casino on May 24th.

In the meantime, this is what’s going on with the artists now!

Phil’s getting ready for a big TV performance this week! I’m not really sure what’s going on with Casey James’ socks, but he needs to tweet more!

This is the great thing about twitter, you can talk to all of our Y108 8 Man Jam artists too!

Get on there and tell them how excited we are to see them in Pittsburgh and if you don’t have tickets to the show yet, we’ll have more chances for you to win them on Y108!

Enjoy and we’ll see you at the show!

The voting is over, the chart is finalized. Here’s the results from part 2 of the weekly voting:

Key:
Response Average: the lower the number, the more popular the song.
I.P. = Impression Points All Inactive songs are considered 6th place and were not part of the voting this week.
“No Change” under the I.P. Change means the song has either maxed out at +20 or bottomed out at -10 and cannot gain or lose any more points.

Note: Chart policy states that any song that has a negative number of Impression Points when winning their designated Level Poll will have their Impression Points reset to 0 before the weekly Impression Poll. The policy was enacted for the following songs: “Let the Cowboy Rock” by Ronnie Dunn (Level 6); “Georgia Peaches” by Lauren Alaina (Level 4); “Lovin’ You Is Fun” by Easton Corbin (Level 3)

‘Rangers Inside And Out’
By Sean Hartnett
» More Columns

The broken, damaged Rangers are in need of a spark. Chris Neil’s head-shot on left Brian Boyle concussed and with that, a large part of the Rangers’ heart was ripped from their lineup.

Never have the Rangers needed hot-shot rookie Carl Hagelin more than in Game 6, where he’ll make his return after serving his 3-game suspension for elbowing Daniel Alfredsson.

The Blueshirts’ backs are firmly pressed against the wall. They’ll have to escape a raucous Scotiabank Place atmosphere with a victory tonight in order to have a shot at returning home for an all-deciding Game 7 at MSG.

Hagelin could be the elixir that cures the Rangers’ offensive struggles. Without his presence on the Rangers’ top line, line-mates Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik haven’t been able to find the open spaces needed to test superb Senators’ net-minder Craig Anderson.

I spoke with Marc Staal about the boost brought by Hagelin’s return before the Rangers departed for Ottawa.

“He’s a quick guy, gets in on forecheck and makes their ‘D’ think twice about being aggressive on him and opens some ice up for some guys,” Staal explained. “I’m sure he’s excited to get back in it and we’re excited to get him back.”

What Hagelin brings in his return is the kind of natural speed and skating ability that can make the most assured Senators’ defensemen skittish to the point that they are unsure how to defend him.

Pinching him too closely allows Hagelin to use his wheels to burst past them, while giving him too much space lets Hagelin use his terrific on-ice vision to find open teammates.

Richards and Gaborik struggled to find true chemistry until Hageln was inserted on their left-wing. As much as they helped Hagelin ‘learn the ropes’ of NHL life, Hagelin has equally benefited them through his quick learning curve and skillfulness.

Hagelin’s been a rare rookie who has quickly adapted to every challenge thrown in front of him. His playoff debut in Game 1 had teammates raving about his ability to handle the pressure that comes with playoff intensity.

Gaborik spoke to Josh Thompson of LoHud.com about the impact of Hagelin’s return. “Down the stretch, he was a big part of our club,” Gaborik said. “He’s coming out of the suspension, so it’s going to be good for us.”

Hagelin chatted with Andrew Gross of The Record at Sunday’s optional skate. “You know it’s going to be tough in the playoffs, that’s just the way it is. All we’re thinking about right now is the next game and getting the win,” Hagelin stated.

Game 6 will be Hagelin’s toughest test of his young career but judging by his ability, poise and composure, he has what it takes to re-ignite the Rangers’ playoff charge.

On average I probably listen to the radio or some type of music for ten to eleven hours a day, after all it is my job. I use it to get pumped while exercising, washing the car, at work, (duh) or just lounging. Music’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and sometimes I get an ear-worm, you know, a song that’s just stuck in your head that plays over and over again. But how long does it take before you start singing along with a new song? Let’s find out, shall we? Josh Thompson told me about his latest single “Comin’ Around.” Josh says that’s one of the coolest feelings he knows: “My favorite time of this new single thing is, you know, it’s now in the Top 40, and you can see, gradually, every show, every week, every month, that there’s more and more people singing, and they’re singing louder, and it’s…to watch that…you know, ’cause I’ve been puttin’ ‘Comin’ Around’ in the set for a year and a half now, just because I loved it so much, you know, just to kind of get a crowd reaction. And now people are singin’ it, ’cause they’re hearin’ it on the radio. And it’s amazing and it’s awesome to watch that transition, the effect that country radio has on current music and the show and everything, and the people comin’ out. And you know, just to watch ‘em gradually, sing more and sing louder is…it’s my favorite thing to watch.”

Alexie Baja, Jenna Craft, Shannon Scheving and friends dance and cheer as Josh Thompson performs Saturday during the WIRK Rib Round Up.

The event featured country music artists in an all-day music and rib festival at the Cruzan Amphitheatre.

“It has been awesome,” said Baja, who was most looking forward to performances by Montgomery Gentry and Jake Owen.
