Theres nothing that I love more than a good Radiohead song so it follows suit that I’m also partial to a Radiohead remix.  Radiohead provide potential re-mixers with a myriad of extremely seductive music – a side effetct of their experimental electronic style. SO it is unsurprising that the internet is littered with remixes both official and un-official, rubbish and brilliant . There is even a website dedicated to the cause

So that you can avoid the “cutting the shit,” process here are my top three…in no particular order – they’re all pretty damm great

1. This one I stumbled upon last night….

It’s an Unofficial remix of Packed Like Sardine in a Crushed Tin by TLP

2. This is an official one by Josh Wink (who I saw DJ in Ibiza and was awesome by the way) Every Thing in Its Right Place would make it onto my Desert Island discs so full credit to Wink for producing a worthy remix.

3.  And thirdly another unofficial one is by Micromatic of In Rainbows’ Reckoner. I can’t find this one on the internet anywhere anymore which is a travesty because it is brilliant and should be shared, so here you go….

Fluke – Bullet
A couple of weeks back, I was giving some respect up for Syntax, which is comprised of a couple of former members of Fluke. They said Fluke just wasn’t dark enough. I begged to differ. Here’s the case in point: Bullet. It’s a slow builder but once it gets up and running, it’s an actual banger, as they say across the pond.

Death Set – Negative Thinking
Nothing like a good-natured kick in the teeth courtesy of Baltimore’s finest electro-punksters. The f-bombs make it fun for all ages and the polaroid conceit of the video allows it to confuse some ages. The power of fuckin’ positive thinking.

South Central – Higher State
Nothing like a ill-tempered kick in the teeth courtesy of Brighton’s finest electro-rockers. A blistering cover of that old rave fave, Higher State of Consciousness by be-dreaded house producer, Josh Wink. Featuring the old-timey acid sounds of the Roland 303 and tons of distortion and strobe lights. Everything you would want in a batch of brown acid.

Glasvegas – Geraldine
Scottish shoegazers with a crippingly beautiful ode to social workers. I know you don’t believe me so I’ve attached a video with lyrics. So there. Anyway, this comes recommended by a certain whipsmart pup (and his crotchety owner) I know, as well as by the genius over at The Lost Turntable (who referred to them as “Jesus wrapped in awesome”).

The Knife – We Share Our Mother’s Health/Silent Shout (William’s Acidic Circuits Mix)
I’ve got a two-fer going on here. I spent several minutes bouncing back and forth between the two tracks and their accompanying videos. After several minutes of indecision, I decided that fuck it, bandwidth’s cheap.

Not to overuse a word, but some more electro here, but in an altogether more disturbing fashion. Featuring some pitched-down vocals, some pitched-up tempos and some seriously strange videos. You won’t be able to tear your eyes or ears away. Some brilliantly fucked-up Swedish weirdness. Those Nordic countries and their bizarre musicians. Must be the constant cold.

Heads Will Roll says…

It’s time to get your credit cards ready and get officially excited as Perth’s 2010 Summadayze line-up is announced and the presale begins September 9 at 9am. Considering how fast Fake Blood and Sinden, who are both on this line-up, sold out Villa expect tickets to this festival to be very hard to come by in a very short time. If you’re regular reader of Heads Will Roll you may have noticed how excited we are about seeing 2manydjs “live show”, click here and here to possibly understand where we are coming from. Also on the line-up is James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) in DJ mode, which means disco to the max. Carl Cox is making good use of his Australian residency, Sharam (Deep Dish) is sure to impress. Eddie Halliwell should make Perth’s trance community stock up on their novelty paraphernalia. The chin strokers will be pretending they aren’t impressed, but secretly wetting themselves for Danny Howells, Josh Wink and Nic Fanciulli. The blog kids have Treasure Fingers, Riton, Fake Blood and Sinden. As this is just the first line-up you can expect more artists to be announced in the coming months, hopefully the Proxy is one of those included.

Целый час чистого фирменного бойзнойзовского звука. Бодрое начало, затем почти зависание над поверхностью земли и стремительный бросок к концу микса. Весь микс мне представлялся стеклянный шар с идеально отполированными колючками, внутри которого пульсировала переливающаяся всеми цветами радуги тягучая жидкость. Вот, пожалуй, так и можно описать это звучание.

Конечно, микс очень интересный, неожиданный, никогда не угадаешь, что там за поворотом. За это я и люблю современную танцевальную музыку, по-моему, она все больше движется к IDM. И быть может я и танцевал под этот сет в каком-нибудь клубе, но сегодня как клубный сет он меня не впечатлил вовсе. Пропала, знаете, эта искра хулиганства, которая присутствовала в миксах Annie Mac и Erol Alkan. Что ж, такова тенденция.

Everything in it's right place - Radiohead

Avec l’été qui s’amorce, nos emplois, nos projets personnels et bien sûr ; les terrasses, il devient difficile de poster.

Pourtant, pour ceux qui travaillent et qui scrutent notre blog durant leurs pauses, il faut continuer d’écrire !

Et c’est avec plaisir qu’on le fait.

Si vous êtes comme moi, vous aimez les chansons électroniques qui transportent une certaine ambiance. Mes préférés dans le style sont les balades électros ;

Pensez-y: mettre des émotions dans une musique composée de synthés et d’effets générés avec des logiciels informatiques (ou des “multi-effets” lorsque joués en live) …

Assez paradoxal!

Plusieurs artistes ont tenté l’expérience d’assumer une ambiance avec de l’électro.

Un groupe qui a fait un essai marquant vers ce style est Radiohead.

On ne vous apprendra rien en vous disant que plusieurs étaient frustrés lors de la sortie de Kid A qui marquait vraiment une rupture avec le style rock que ce groupe préconisait jusqu’alors.

Sur cet album, de nombreux bijoux ont vu le jour.

Notamment ;  Everything in it’s right place , personnellement ma favorite de l’album et dans mon top du groupe. Je l’ai découvert avec le film Vanilla Sky, un de mes films favoris à vie (et oui même s’il s’agît d’un remake américain…)
