Last weekend I had the chance to see Joss Stone in Sao Paulo, at HSBC Brazil.
Intead of saying that the show was amazing, incredible, etc, I’m gonna say it’s a pleasure to listen to her tone of voice.

She was gorgeous, wearing a really small white dress and occasionally drinking some tea (really sweet).

It was the second time I went to see her. And it kept the same feelings: peace, good vibration, perfection, beauty, presence.

I caught myself astonished.

Antes de mais nada quero dizer que sei que ando completamente desligada daqui, mas é que a vida anda uma loucura (gosto dessa desculpa, serve para tudo) mas prometo de daqui para frente reservarei sempre um tempinho para atualizar o blog.

Nos últimos tempos descobri uma paixão, a música! Não, não virei DJ e muito menos aprendi a tocar algum instrumento, se bem que estou arriscando no violão, mas aprendi a apreciar a música e garimpar pela net atrás de sons que valham à pena (isso sim vicia). Minha última descoberta que achei extremamente válida foi da linda voz de Joss Stone, uma mistura de jazz, blues, soul R&B, ela consegue ser dançante e romântica ao mesmo tempo, porém sem perder a sensualidade e cá entre nós, é uma loirinha que não é de se jogar fora. Mas voltando ao que interessa, aí está um vídeo da dita cuja para quem não conhecer conhecer e para quem já conhece e gosta gostar ainda mais. Agora: para quem já conhece e não gosta ou conheceu agora e não gostou, enfim, vale só por ela .

Para quem se interessou recomendo ouvir o CD Introducing, principalmente a música Put your hands on me onde ela apresenta muito bem sua faceta romântica sensual.

E aí vai um presentinho,  Joss Stone

Talvez tenha sido o calor, talvez tenha sido o feriado, mas o fato é que a Arena Multiuso, que hoje abriga mais shows do que esportes, estava com apenas metade de sua capacidade preenchida. Com abertura da nova febre da MPB, Maria Gadú, a noite do dia 21 de novembro fez com que as pessoas se deslocassem para a (ainda) longínqua Jacarepaguá. Cerca de 9 mil pessoas estavam presentes na Arena HSBC, à espera da queridinha do soul, Joss Stone, que veio ao Brasil para divulgar seu novo disco, “Colour Me Free”, lançado recentemente.

Com uma banda afinadíssima, e três backing vocals poderosos, Joss entrou no palco descalça como o habitual e vestida de branco, assim como toda sua banda e cantou por cerca de uma hora e quarenta minutos. A inglesa abriu o show com um vocalize e logo depois emendou com o hit  de sua estreia, “Super Duper Love”, de seu primeiro disco,  “The Soul Sessions”. O som da casa deixou um pouco a desejar, estando muito baixo, e sendo alvo de reclamações por parte da plateia. O calor fez Joss deixar o palco para se refrescar um pouco, e boatos dão conta de que a cantora passou mal devido aos mais de 30 graus que faziam no Rio de Janeiro. O setlist não foi completo, mas a cantora mesclou músicas de seus três discos anteriores, e ainda contou com a participação de seu backing vocal para cantar a canção “Stalemate”, de seu último álbum.

A turnê brasileira de Joss Stone passou por São Paulo, no domingo, e termina nesta segunda-feira, em Curitiba.

Ten weeks of competition have finally led up to the Season 9 finale! A new champion will be crowned “Dancing with the Stars” champion so who will win the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy? All 16 pairs have returned for the finale and Whitney Houston performs. Also it’s Jerry Rice vs. Michael Irvin for dance bragging rights. Who will win the battle of the NFL stars?

Whitney Houston kicked things off and performed her single “Million Dollar Bill”. The final three couples performed one last dance for their final judge’s score. Kelley and Louis danced first and performed the Viennese Waltz. Dmitry and Mya performed the Jive and Donny and Kym performed the Argentine Tango. The judges ranked the couples like so…3rd place: Kelly and Louis giving them 26 points, 2nd place: Mya and Dmitry giving them 28 points, and 1st place went to Donny and Kym which earned them 30 points.

In the battle of the NFL stars. Michael won the Mirror Ball ring, but Jerry won one too. Whitney Houston performed her 80’s hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”.

Joss Stone pisou nos tapetes persas espalhados pelo palco com seus pés descalços, como sempre faz, usando um microvestido branco colado ao longilíneo corpo e com cabelos cacheados. Assim como em seu novo CD, “Colour Me Free“, que volta à sonoridade da estreia da inglesa no mercado musical, com seu primeiro álbum, The Soul Sessions. Simpática e sorridente, em diversos momentos Joss dançou e agradeceu ao público. Até ensaiou algumas palavras em português: “Amo o Brasil, vocês são apaixonantes. Este é o melhor lugar do mundo”, disse.

Ringo Starr sempre foi um cara de sorte. A passagem de Pete Best pelo Brasil mês passado só fez reforçar o fato. Musicalmente, Ringo tem o mérito de sempre reunir os ex-companheiros de banda e de ser o responsável pelo melhor disco solo de um ex-Beatle (Ringo, de 1973).

Nos últimos anos Ringo vem caindo na estrada com sua All Starr Band (grupo formado pelos amigos que estejam disponíveis na época e que já contou com Jack Bruce, Peter Frampton, Billy Preston, Levon Helm e Dr. John, entre outros astros. Ele também lança discos com uma certa frequência e um nível mediano de qualidade. Seu último grande disco foi Stop and Smell the Roses (1982), que contava com canções dos parceiros George Harrison e Paul McCartney.

Agora, Ringo anuncia mais um lançamento – Y Not – para janeiro de 2010. O CD será lançado pelo conhecidíssimo selo Hip-O Records/UMe e conta com participações de Joss Stone, Joe Walsh, Van Dyke Parks e Paul McCartney, entre outros.

Não tenho idéia de como será o disco, até porque é Ringo vai se auto produzir pela primeira vez. Afinal, Y Not – segundo Ringo – é outra maneira de dizer Yes, We Can! O primeiro single, Walk With You, é uma reflexão sobre o poder da amizade e parte dela é cantada em dueto com Sir Paul, que também toca baixo em Peace Dream.

Ringo parece ter sido picado pelo mesmo mosquito nostálgico que infectou seu outro companheiro de banda dos anos 60. No novo CD há uma canção chamada The Other Side Of Liverpool.

Joss Stone con tan solo 22 años ha conseguido ser clasificada como la cantante de soul más importante de la década. Sin embargo, no es oro todo lo que reluce; bajo una fachada impresionante y una voz poderosa se esconde una mujer cansada, cansada de lidiar con la discográfica EMI.

En 2006, la cantante británica recibió 7,5 millones de libras como adelanto de un contrato por cuatro álbumes, algo que asegura el trabajo en estos tiempos, pero que puede llegar a convertirse en una pesadilla cuando observas que ese contrato que debería llenarte de ilusiones acaba asfixiando tu carrera musical.

Joss Stone tiene que estar harta para querer devolver 1,2 millones de libras de ese adelanto y 800.000 libras más de las futuras ganancias de “Colour Me Free” (su último trabajo cuyo primer single ‘ilustra’ este post), para que así EMI le facilite la carta de libertad y poder hacer carrera por su cuenta.

Lo cierto es que ya hubo polémica con este álbum puesto que EMI amenazaba con emprender acciones legales contra la cantante, acusándola de no haber entregado el máster del nuevo trabajo a fecha de 31 de Diciembre, cuando estaba estipulado por contrato. Ella, evidentemente puesto que sino no habría habido polémica, aseguraba que entregó el trabajo a tiempo.

Stone dice que necesita libertad para componer, de hecho, “Colour Me Free” fue grabado en el estudio de su madre, en el más absoluto secreto para evitar que la discográfica interfiriera en su trabajo.

La segunda gota que dejaba rebosar el vaso llegó cuando se anunció la salida del álbum para abril de este año. Al final se anunció para Julio, pero no ha podido salir a la venta hasta este mes. De hecho, la difusión que está teniendo este cuarto disco de la cantante comienza siendo bastante escasa y en EE. UU. se ha visto reducida a una sola cadena de tiendas.

El álbum es muy interesante dentro de su género, a la voz de Stone se unen Jeff Beck, Sheila E., Raphael Saadig, el rapero Nas y el saxofonista David Sanborn.

Darauf haben Fans und Musikfreunde gewartet – vorgestern Abend trafen sich Soul-Diva Joss Stone und Stefanie Heinzmann Backstage bei TV total. An dem Abend war Frau Stone zu Gast bei Raab und kurzerhand wurde ein Duett beschlossen.

Am 17. November wurde das spannende Duett aufgezeichnet, exklusive Ausschnitte aus dem Auftritt zeigte Raab (Prosieben) gestern Abend in seiner Show TV total. Wer hätte das gedacht, Stefanie Heinzmann jedenfalls nicht. Joss Stone ist ihr großes Idol, nichts hätte sie sich mehr gewünscht als mit ihr auf der Bühne zu stehen und dann war es soweit. Stefanie war natürlich mehr als aufgeregt, aber das lag nicht nur an der Soul-Diva.

An Glanz verloren
… hat Heinzmann leider auch, denn seit längerem hat sie Knötchen an den Stimmbändern, die schon verhärtet sind. Das hat zur Folge, dass sich die Stimmlippen nicht mehr schließen können, so kommt immer Luft durch, das widerum verursacht Heiserkeit. Eigentlich müsste sich Stefanie schonen, doch wenn sich schonmal die Möglichkeit ergibt, mit dem Idol zu performen, gibt man da nicht klein nach. Dem entsprechend war dann auch ihre Power in der Stimme. Heinzmann sah man an, dass sie sich anstrengen musste, das Ergebnis kann sich allerdings sehen lassen, denn mit den zwei Stimmgewalten kam eine ganz neue Version der aktuellen Single “Unbreakable/Stop” heraus.

Hallo liebe Leser,

seit dem 30 Oktober ist das neue Album von Joss Stone mit dem Namen “Colour me Free” in den Plattenläden. Es hat lange gedauert, aber nun ist es endlich da. Wenn man bei Amazon die Rezensionen liest, dann sieht man, dass dieses Album ein absoluter Volltreffer ist.

Colour me Free wurde im “Mama Stones” , also im Live-Club ihrer Mutter aufgenommen. Prominente Gaststars wirken in einigen Titeln auf dem Album mit. Dabei sind z.B. Rapper Nas beim Lied  “Free Me” , Neo-Soul-Bass-Legende Raphael Saadiq, Gitarrenheld Jeff Beck oder auch die legendäre Schlagzeugfee Sheila E.

Dieses Album ist sehr Facettenreich. Es ist eine Mischung aus Soul, Pop und Titeln die einfach grooven. Die Mischung aus schnellen und langsamen Songs. Aber eines Sticht in jedem Lied heraus, die herausragende Stimme dieses 22-Jährigen Ausnahmetalents.

Wenn ich dieses Album beschreiben müsste, dann fallen mir keine Worte ein, weil ich diese Stimme  und die verschiedenen Instrumente liebe, die absolut toll eingesetzt werden.

Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Künstlern braucht sich Joss Stone nicht auszuziehen, um Alben zu verkaufen. Mittlerweile hat sie über 10 Millionen Alben verkauft. Durch ihre Stimme, ihre Musik, ihr soziales Angargment und ihre fröhliche und Sympathische Art ist sie ein absolutes Vorbild für jeden Fan und für jeden Künstler, der einmal eine erfolgreiche Karriere starten will. Sie begann mit 16 Jahren mit dem Album “The Soul Session” und ist nun eine der bekanntestesten Künstlerinnen der Welt.

Am Montag war sie zu Gast bei TV Total. Dazu gibt es nun auch 2 Videos. Im ersten ist sie im Plausch mit Stefan zu sehen und im zweiten singt sie den Titel “Free me” vom neuen Album Colour me Free.

Im neuen Jahr ist sie außerdem wieder auf Tour. Bisher gibt es leider nur vier Termine.

Nov 6: Miss Loses Crown, Goes For Title

Miss England lost her crown last Friday after getting a bar fight with Miss Manchester over a Gladiator. Rachel Christie (Miss England) punched out Sara Jones (Miss Manchester), got arrested and had to withdraw from the Miss World Competition. She plans to concentrate her hopes on Olympic gold, but in some ‘event’ called the ‘heptathlon’, not in boxing! We here at the Bar None would love to see Rachel Christie throw down with Mischa Barton. In bikinis. With Jello.

Nov 10: Don’t Drink And Fly

A man whose name sounds like a U.S. map, 51-year-old Erwin Vermont Washington, wanted to fly higher than ever. Things didn’t really take off, though, because he was taken off a plane, given a Breathalyzer and arrested before things got off the ground. The only problem was, he was the pilot. An employee tattled on him and the test, given out of view of passengers, proved his BAC was too high to fly. What was he charged with? Attempted FWI? It wasn’t his fault, if you ask me: 0.02% is the legal limit for flying while 0.08% is for driving a car. How fair is that?

Nov 15: Stephanie Pratt Should Move To Australia

Stephanie Pratt was the surreality actress who earned herself a mug shot a couple weeks ago. The real tragedy behind the arrest isn’t that she pleaded not guilty and will go to rehab instead of jail (this according to TMZ) but that she was arrested to begin with! She only blew 0.09, for chrissakes! 0.08 is the legal limit and she blew 0.01 over! Freaking 0.01%! That’s like the total percent of writer’s who don’t drink! Steph should move to Australia where this one couple got arrested for DWI three times—in three hours. (Shattering the previous record of twice in four hours, set by Talitha Gorea.) It goes like this: Just after midnight, a 37-year-old Australian guy driving with his 27-year-old girlfriend get pulled over. He was breath tested and was over the legal limit. Police didn’t arrest him but noticed his companion was drunk and told her not to drive. An hour later, police pulled her over—on the same street. Same offense. At 3:05, police stopped the couple again, on the same street, with the man behind the wheel again. He was tested again, found to be over the limit again, but refused to follow police back to HQ and was not arrested anyway! Screw it, i’m moving to Australia with Stephanie Pratt.

Nov 13: Canadian Club Spill

It was a disaster of epic proportions, perhaps even more tragic than the Vodka tsunami that prompted the Bar None’s first Stoli War (AKA ‘Vodkwā’). A tanker carrying 7,000 gallons of Canadian Club whiskey overturned faster than a whiskey shot in an Irish pub. Oh, the humanity! Roads were closed, Canadians were weeping in Clubs, drinkers were left high and dry the world over. Relief efforts included sending a crack team from the Bar None to lick up the mess, but by the time we arrived it was too late: T-totaling firemen had already hosed down the road. How can a loving god let things like this happen?

Nov 8: Man Celebrates 63rd Arrest

Jim Crowe’s younger brother, John Crowe was busted for stealing three bottles of champagne in a Chicago Whole Foods. He was gonna just be charged with misdemeanor (no relation to Miss Demeanor) retail theft but that was upgraded to a felony when cops sorted through his 50+ aliases and realized it was his 63rd arrest. Nov 13: Lohan Got A Lift

Lohan pulled the same crap as John Crowe (above) but didn’t get arrested. She was at this club called the Crown Bar, ordered a bottle of Champagne and when the bill came, she pointed at another table and told the waitress to put it on that guy’s tab (turns out it was Twilight’s Kellan Lutz). After she finished it, she took off without paying…just like a John Crowe. Maybe she could give him lessons on how to lift champagne. Or maybe he should hang out in better clubs than

Whole Foods.

Nov 14: A Nice Piece (Of ADVICE, You Pervs!)

Lindsay (’cause i’m tight with her like that and call her by her first name) had a lesson to learn the day after the champagne boost. She went to a party of people less screwed up than herself (yes, it was a big party) and hung out with Courtenay Semel (her first lesbian love, the one before Samantha Ronson). Here’s a little photo of the couple in the good ol’ days. Tongues start wagging and it turns out Courtenay not only has a stupid name (i think ‘Semel’ is French for what her privates do after 3 hours in tight leather) but she also just got out of rehab! Eeek! She nagged Lindsay so much that Poorhan ran out of the party in tears. What are friends for? Not for freaking that, i’m here to tell you.

Speaking of hot, young, talented, pretty girls with no brains… Joss Stone gave an interview to Star Magazine where the head-bonger blasphemes that weed is better than alcohol! According to her, marijuana makes you laugh and alcohol makes you kick the spit out of everyone. Not True! i’ve been in tons of fights on booze and have not kicked one ass yet.

Joss Stone has grown up, to the extent that she’s reportedly willing to forfeit on £2million to leave record label, EMI, who appear to be annoyed that Stone, now 22, isn’t doing as she’s told as she did when she broke through as a 16-year-old wonder kid on The Soul Sessions. EMI even called the artwork for Colour Me Free! “offensive” and changed it in the US. The two years-plus leading up to this album have hardly been smooth. Stone’s third, R&B-style album, Introducing Joss Stone, got mixed responses and there was the backlash following Stone’s peculiar speech at the 2007 Brit Awards.

It’s difficult to say Stone’s cultural currency has fallen when she can call upon Jeff Beck, Nas and retro soul maestro Raphael Saadiq, even if the performances of the former two aren’t the finest. Beck draws out a flimsy funk like and generic classic rock solo on ‘Parallel Lines’, while Nas’ verses on ‘Governmentalist’ sound phoned in (although, he’s one of the few rappers to rhyme “dude” with “genetically modified food”).

‘Governmentalist’, a deep funk number with nods to Stone’s namesake Sly, is a stick out track rather than standout one, with explicit anti-war lyrics rather than Stone’s typical words about boyfriends being great/rubbish and peace-and-love hippyology. Trouble is, the message is lost among vocal acrobatics and the “thou shall not kill” line clangs.

It’s on the summery funk of ‘Free Me’ and ‘Incredible’ when she’s not being an X Factor-style, note-perfect diva that Stone has the most attitude and clarity in her voice. While on ‘4 And 20′, her huskiness complements the dreamy, lounge bar swing perfectly. Unfortunately, there are too many dull moments: an unadventurous cover of Ray Charles’ ‘I Believe It To My Soul’ (the nu-gospel reworking of ‘You Got The Love’ is great though); a break-up song devoid of any angst on ‘Could Have Been You’; and a 14-minute jam called ‘Mr Wankerman’, which makes Eamon’s ‘Fuck It (I Don’t Want You Back)’ appear a subtle put-down.

Stone’s voice, though, is always her own. She never tries to ape Dusty or Amy, as those who have followed her and Winehouse’s success have done. It’s just a shame the feistiness she’s shown in standing up to EMI and after the accent debacle at the Brits doesn’t appear on record. Originally posted at Daily Music Guide

The only thing bad about this song is that it’s too short!  The end is like the climax and you are left wanting more. So I keep on having to push replay over and over , and over again! It’s addictive, once the beat it’s in your head you will find yourself humming this song through out the day. Just a brilliant song. But I guess  he had to make it short like the songs in the early to mid 60’s that were no more than 2;35  seconds. It was all intentional.

I love the way a lot of artist are taking the music back to the Motown sound. This is the way music used to be, good. It’s  danceable, headbopping, singing in the shower, riding in the car singing kind of music. All my friends thought I was crazy for saying this a few years back, but everything (especially MUSIC) has been so “RHETRO” over the past few years that I knew  the 60’s sound was coming back! There’s was no other  pure,untapped  sound out there for inspiration right now. Then WINEHOUSE, JOSS STONE, RAPHAEL, and a few other newer artists dropped and now it’s becoming  crazy. That’s cool though, because this sound can’t be manipulated; IT’S ONLY FOR THOSE WHO CAN REALLY SING!

Raphael you have no idea how PROUD you make TRUE music-heads with this joint!
