We’re not even ten days into this month and I’m already completely over it, I haven’t had time to sit down and scratch myself, Declan’s been sick, we haven’t gone more than a couple of days without visiting the doctor for one of our ailments, I think I gave too short a time frame for a custom order that I have to do this weekend and I’m just generally shattered. I haven’t even sent out the invites for Declans party in two weeks!

I need a holiday.

I shall leave you with a picture of the boy rockin’ out his new Engrish t-shirt (this one was a Parramatta High Street bargain) it says “Fine Day! Many Ladybugs. Delightful Happy Flying!!!”, and on the back, “Ladybugs And Four Leaf Clover A Circle Of Happiness.”. It’s another example of an object being so chuffed with itself, I love happy things.

Woohoooooo!!! It’s finally here! After a “soft opening” yesterday Jovis has just been announced to the masses, and I’ve already sold my first item on my new proper self-hosted store.

I feel very proud of myself and Dan, there have been several tantrums from both of us, but the finished product is up, working and looking great.

Dan and I are fairly similar in a lot of ways, right up until it gets to the way we think, the way we work and the way we problem solve. I am a very emotional “left-brainer”, Dan is a very logical “right-brainer”. The last week or so we’ve gone into overdrive on my store, I’ve been sewing and creating stock in every spare moment and he’s stayed up until stupid-oclock working on the coding and the clever bits. We had intended to launch today (and there is still a chance that we might get to do it today, I’ll keep you updated!) but due to some flaws in the system – like the software processing an order and taking peoples money but not actually letting us know that something has been ordered – only a minor problem!

The last week has highlighted the huge difference in the way we think, I will demand something to look prettier not understanding the technicalities behind, he won’t understand why I’d want the shade of something changed just slightly when to him “bluey-green” looks exactly the same as “greeny-blue”. This combined with the fact that we are just as stubborn as one another, and of course, always right, it has certainly been revealing!

It’s been interesting, and we’ve had more than a few cross words with each other so I am in no hurry to do it again! so far the store is looking great, there are a few things that need to be ironed out, but I am getting very excited about finally having something that we’ve been planning for almost a year now so close to being up and ready to go, and of course grateful to my husband for putting up with me as I ranted and raved about everything he was doing wrong.

Hopefully I will be able to write tonight that we have officially launched!

I set up my store today on madeit.com, at the moment there’s only a few items – one colourway of my sock yarn and three hook designs in various colour/size options, but it’s a start. If anyone is interested in either the yarn or the hooks, either head over to the store or get in touch with me.

I made a beautiful hook with skulls on it a couple of days ago, put it in to fire and then promptly forgot about it, leaving me with a beautiful, yet very burnt hook. I was less than impressed. Fortunately I only used half the cane, so I can remake it as soon as I get some more hooks. There are so many things I want to try right now and I don’t have any damn hooks or the spare money to buy them, it sucks the big one.
