From 78 to 88 my life not worth talking about it sucked for the most part In 88 moved from Marshalltown to Eldora, IA where I found a job. Lived in Eldora for about 12 years than moved to Ackley, IA where I had a job as tester & service tech in electronics (I loved working for this place but the bosses wife killed it!). I’m still single and still love all the things I liked back in High School. Music from the 70’s & been getting into Classical Music, electronics, I’m into scanner listening. Use to do alot of SWLing but none at all now. computers, Am a tech class ham radio op. but don’t do much of that at all. like watching movies on dvd I’m a fan of box sets. Also have a very hard time getting enough sleep (guess its from thinking about crap all the time) but do manage to get cat naps. I’m kind of a loner & don’t care to much about going places where there are lots of people. But do like people who can make me smile. Would like to visit the Grand Canyon someday somehow. I suffer a great inner turmoil about the way my life has gone so far.I just don’t enjoy doing alot of the things I use to love. Seem like I got this whats the point attitude about life.

The world is starting to back me into the corner. Because I’m unemployed and can’t pay my bills. I suck at job interviews because can’t sell myself. Because not very out going. How hard is it for me sometimes? Like I went to fill out a job application form at a place that was 25 miles away. but when I got there I just could not bring myself to go in. I drove around the block 3 or 4 time and around the parking lot and just turned around and headed home. I just could not bring myself to go in . And job interviewers sure like to judge a book by its cover. Like where I had a job interview at that window place I knew in my heart that I could do the job. But when she asked my What is it about me that would make me a good candidate for the job. I just could not come up with much.

Sometimes we say yes and commit ourselves to doing something that we really don’t want or need to be doing. We take it on just to keep other people happy. We really need to be careful in this area and make sure that our mouth is not saying yes when our heart is saying no.

The setup I’m using now to do most of my Listening is a Technics SL-PG340 CD Player, Ramsey Stereo Headphone Amp. & Sony Stereo Headphone (Someday will upgrade to Sennheiser or Bose Tri-Port phones) This system gives me grate Audio reproduction without having to spend big bucks! (I’m A Poor Boy).

This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal presence in Mexico. Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws. Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers. Good luck! You’ll be demanding for the rest of time or soon dead. Because it will never happen. I don’t really know much about ancient Greece except that men viewed women in much the same way as women were viewed in Israel and other ancient cultures. Generally, women were relegated to the home and were not encouraged to participate in politics or other “manly” pursuits. And yet, there seemed to be a group of women who broke this mold and managed to become “prominent” or influential all the same. I think most people assume these women were wealthy or connected to free-thinking fathers or husbands who encouraged their independence and abilities.

These were women of power.

And so, when Paul specifically notes that these “prominent women” became believers, this was important. Their faith and leadership would make a difference. Their stand for the Christ would bring others to the faith.

Women have changed the face of our world many times. In recent years, the women’s movement gave rise to prominent women in a variety of fields and interests. [See Women's Hall of Fame for a short list of just American women who had made a mark.]

In order for the Third Temple to be built.. the Dome will have to be demolish. This is exactly what the believers of the Rapture and Christian Zionist want to accomplish..by doing so, they would hasten Armageddon and the return of Christ.

What does the Bible have to say about the Third Temple? ABSOLUTLY NOTHING..

Ez. 37 predicted the regathering of the Jewish people but this had already accured..

As I stated in my last article Jesus said in Matt 23:38 “Behold your house is left unto you desolate.” According to the words of Christ.. The third Jewish Temple will never be rebuilt.

Proponents of the Third Temple use Daniel 9:27 to support their spurious theory. Let review it. Dan. 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

According the rapturists, they believe that the Anti-Christ will make a covenant or peace treaty with the Jews and cause the sacrifice to cease. In order to for the sacrifice to cease they must be re-instituted in the Temple. Thus you have the argument for rebuilding the Temple because of the bloody sacrifices that was done in the Temple. Historically for almost 2000 years, Bible scholars applied the He in Dan, 9:27 to Jesus…

The entire prophecy of Dan.9:24-27 covers a period of seventy weeks. This is one complete, sequential block of time. Any 1^st grader will tell you that 70 come after 69. So the 70^th week follows the 69^th week. There is no gap. A gap isn’t logical. Dan. 9:27 says nothing about the seven year tribulation or about the Anti-Christ.

Jesus confirmed the covenant with many;

Rom. 15:8 Now is say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the father:

Matt.26:28 “This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.”

Adam Clark says (The Holy Bible with commentary by Adam Clark, vol. IV p. 602) that during the “term of seven years, Jesus would confirm or ratify the new covenant with mankind.”

Jesus caused the sacrifices to cease.

The 70^th week was from A.D. 27-34… After 3 ½ years of ministry, in the middle of the 70^thweek, Christ was crucified. When Jesus said it is finish and gave up the ghost, that very moment Matt.27:51 “the veil of the temple was rent (torn) in twain from top to bottom.” This act of God signified that all animal sacrifices had ceased to be of value. Jesus was offered up once and for all time… There is no need of another sacrifice.

In the Matthew Henry Commentary vol. IV p.1095 he said concerning Dan.9:27 “By offering himself a sacrifice once and for all He (Jesus) put an end to all the Levitical sacrifices.” Why do the Anti-Christ conspirators want to give the Anti-Christ credit for what Christ did for mankind on the cross?

The debate concerning pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, post-tribulation, is frivolous. It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you don’t believe in the truth.

Jesus is the Temple…

Mark 14:58“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this man-made temple and in three days will build another, not made by man.’ “

Jesus is the true Israel.

Gal.3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. vs.29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Dan.9:24-27 is all about Jesus.

The seven weeks (seventy weeks) runs consecutively without a 2000 yr. gap. The gap theory and the rebuilding of the temple are of the Devil and were formulated by Anti-Christ conspirators in high places.

If you can see Jesus in Dan 9:24-27 than the Holy Spirit is leading you… if not than you will be like the Temple…. Jesus said “desolate,” doom for all eternity.

2 Tim. 2:15 Study to show yourself approve unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Luciferian Rapture Doctrine – Its Influence and World Domination

The rapture theory is not Biblical and was founded as an Anti-Reformation tool of the Catholic Church. The word rapture comes from the Latin word rapio meaning – seize by force, kidnap, pillage, rob, and rape. Jerome mistranslated harpazo  (caught -up) when he translated the  Septuagint (Greek Bible) into Latin. The purpose of the rapture theory was threeflod. 1. To destroy the reformation; 2. control protestantism;, capture the Holy Land; 3. Foster the establishment of the New Word Order . The rapture theory has more to do with the racist, arrogant and diabolical concept of British Israel than anything pertaining to the Kingdom of God. The rapture theory is from the pits of hell, created by Luciferians, and promoted by agents of the prince of darkness. The rapture doctrine is the blue-print for the establishment of the pseudo state of Israel.

Barbara Rossing said in her book The Rapture Racket,

” the Rapture is a fraud of monumental proportions, as well as a disturbing way to instill fear in people.

“Whether prescribing a violent script for Israel or survivalism in the United States, this theology distorts God’s vision for the world,” Rossing writes. “In place of healing, the Rapture proclaims escape. In place of Jesus’s blessing of peacemaking, the Rapture voyeuristically glorifies violence and war …. This theology is not biblical. We are not Raptured off the earth, nor is God.

Where did the rapture theory originate and why?

Reformers such as Luther, Calvin, Huss, Zwingli, Melanchthon, Bullinger and others had identified the Catholic Church as Mystery Babylon in Revelation and the Popes as the Anti-Christ. Millions of sincere Catholics were leaving the mother church and joining the reformation movement.. The church set out to neutralize and destroy the protestant movement.. This anti-protestant doctrine is taught in many universities and seminaries such as Dallas Theological Seminary, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Southwestern Assemblies of God, Zion Bible College, Moody Bible Institute, Global University, Liberty and Regent University and well as a host of other leading colleges and universities The rapture cult has the largest following than any cult in the US or Europe.

Why were sincere Catholics, priests and monks leaving the Catholic Church.?

People were leaving because of corruptions in the church. If one look at the Babylonian sun worship, and the present Roman Catholic Mass there are many similarities. Baal worship seem to have taken over the Catholic Church. The icon of the virgin mother and child with halos (representing the sun), Mary as the queen of heaven, (Isis – queen of heaven) confessionals, wafer worship, transubstantiation, and priests as exclusive mediators of God were all derived from the Satanic Babylonian religion. In order to stamp out the spiritual rebellion, Pope Paul III ordered Ignatius de Loyola to found the Order of Jesuits, which would act as the intelligentsia and secret militia of the Vatican. The Jesuits Oath:

A disciple of Ignatius, Francisco Ribera came up with a theory that would take the attention off the Pope as being the Anti-Christ and put it on some future individual. This was the beginning of the Rapture doctrine. The Jesuits infiltrated the protestant movement, developed protestant theology, and purposely mis interpreted scriptures relating to Bible prophecy. They also controlled the educational system and bribe and blackmailed governments of Europe and America to promote their agenda. Two other groups that were instrumental the origin and development of the rapture theory were the Knights Templars (Masons) and the Knights of Malta (Knights of Columbus).

Billy Joe Daughety Dead at 57

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Rev. Billy Joe Daugherty, the founding pastor of Victory Christian Center, died Sunday after a short battle with lymphoma. He was 57.

Church officials announced the pastor’s death during church services Sunday morning. Associate pastor Bruce Edwards told the congregation that Daugherty “graduated into heaven” at 4:40 a.m.

Daugherty, who was originally from Magnolia, Ark.; was hospitalized in October with a viral infection in his throat when tests discovered the cancer.

Daugherty also founded Victory Christian School, Victory Bible Institute and Victory World Missions Training Center.

His television show, Victory in Jesus, was televised throughout the United States. Daugherty and his wife, Sharon Daugherty, have written more than a dozen books.

Originally from Magnolia, Ark., he attended Oral Roberts University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Christian education.

He was a youth minister in the 1970s at Sheridan Christian Center, and became senior pastor at the church in 1976 when the pastor retired.

By 1980, attendance had grown from 300 to 2,000. Daugherty sought to relocate the church. When church leaders decided not to move, he started what is now Victory Christian Center, meeting briefly in a former car dealership at 4400 S. Sheridan Road, and moving in 1984 to the vacant Thoreau Junior High School.

Four years later, when Tulsa Public Schools sold the school building, the church moved to its present site at 7700 S. Lewis Ave. and held worship services in the Mabee Center across the street.

In 2007, the church moved into its state of the art, $32 million, 5,000-seat worship center, built without borrowing money. It was the first time the church had its own worship center. Daugherty made the news in 1991 when he was hospitalized with minor burns he suffered rescuing two of his children from a fire that heavily damaged their home.

In 2005, he made national news when a man came forward at an altar call on a Sunday morning and slugged him in the face, opening a cut over his eye that required two stitches. Daugherty went to the Tulsa jail to forgive the man, did not press assault charges, and later wrote a book about the experience: “Knocked Down But Not Out.”

In October, 2007, Daugherty was named interim president of Oral Roberts University after ORU president Richard Roberts stepped down in the wake of allegations that he misused university funds.

In addition to his wife, Sharon Daugherty, he is survived his mother, Iru Daugherty. Among other survivors are his four children, all of them involved in the ministry. They are daughters Ruthie Sanders and Sarah Wehrli, and sons Paul and John.

Awareness

I make it a point to always be aware of myself, my heart, my body, and my soul.  I used to have this go go go habit–do one thing, go to the next, then the next.  I did not have control of myself.  I was like a machine.  The result, me stressed out, extremely tense and irritable.  Overall, although I was moving and doing things, I look back and realize I didn’t really accomplish much.  I could’ve accomplished more.

Measuring your worth through your works

I started developing this habit when I was in high school.  High School is when I discovered my “worth.”  Prior to high school, I was a shy loner that some people picked on and some people had pity on.  By the end of Junior High School, I started getting attention through all my accomplishments.  I started getting great grades, awards, started getting recognition through various activities I was in.  I started getting attention from my mom and family.  I started feeling I was a somebody and that somebody was someone who got attention by accomplishing a lot.  I was no longer the loner I hated.  You could probably see where this is heading.

Accomplishing things became an obsession of mine.  Getting straight A’s, being a leader in a lot of extracurricular activites, having a lot of friends.  This became my way of life…always on the go, getting recognized for all the things I can do.  It gets pretty exhausting when your worth is based on how much and how perfect you can accomplish things.  I’m not saying accomplishing things is bad, I’m just saying there’s a balance and I got way off line.

Restoring life

I crashed and burned and then had to restore my life.  I spent a lot of time journaling to understand why I became this work addict.  Through journaling, I discovered all the things above.  I had to journal because I had to try to tap into my subconsious because it became my way of life.  Sometimes it’s tough to just know why you do things when it’s become a habit.

The present moment

After discovery I spent a bunch of time undoing all that addiction to work and relearning a peaceful way of life.  Thankful my boyfriend was into reading books on mindfulness so I stole some of those books.  I read books by Thich Nhat Hanh, Joyce Meyers, the Bible, and many more.  I learned to be aware of your surroundings, to really be present in the present moment.  It sounds simple and sounds like common sense, but when you actually become aware of the present moment you realize how few people live in the present moment.

You’re talking to someone and they’re either looking at their watch, their phone, or you just know their mind is somewhere else.  You’re helping a customer and your customer doesn’t make eye contact with you.  You give peace to each other at church and shake hands, but some people don’t even look into your eyes when they give the sign of peace.

I’ve learned to live in the present moment and I love it.  I know people throw the words “present moment” or “mindfulness” around, but these words are not just for monks or for folks who aren’t in touch with real life.  You can be in touch with “real life” and practice mindfulness.

Practice

In my life, I make sure to be aware of my breath, I make sure that I am aware of my heartbeat.  When I do things, I make sure to accomplish tasks in a calm way.  I know when I’m about to get ahead of myself.  For example, I’m driving, ready to have a great ride, then I want to reach out for my cell phone and then turn on the radio and then eat an orange.  Now I’m trying to do things one at a time because I’ve noticed, once I let myself do so many things at once, I become overwhelmed and out of control.  I remind myself when I’m tempted to do so many things at once that whenever I do this, I start to have a hard time breathing and my shoulders get tense.

Win win situation

In the end, I think it’s a win win situation for me.  I do things one a time, but I never overwhelm myself, so I have more time and energy to do more things.  When I’m calm, I’m the most productive.  I’ve realized I can stay calm because I don’t have to overdo my accomplishments to please anyone.  And I can stay calm because I realized I am in control of my body and I can accomplish everything I want to get done.  I don’t have to worry.

• The Eagle reaches its full potential by how he handles the adversity that comes its way.The Eagle has no fear at all of adversity.

• We need to get to the point where we live with a Conquering spirit.

• We ve got to see ourselves as overcomers as opposed to people always overcome by situations.

• We have to see ourselves as more than a conqueror,not being afraid of adversity.

• We are gonna go through things in life,but we will find out that, it is the things that we go through that eventually will turn us into an Eagle.

• We really don’t grow all that much in just good times.We enjoy the good times but we grow when we have adversity when we  adopt a good attitude in it!

• When we do what’s right when it feels wrong that’s when we grow.

• Sometimes we gonna have to do right a longgggg time before seeing any results.

• We need to use the storms of life rather than running from them!

• Whatever we run from ,we will have to go back and face it some other time in our life.

• Worrying is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere.

Ranked as the world’s most influential woman, Oprah Winfrey is undoubtedly a woman who has inspired millions with not only her wisdom, her wide circle of connections, but also with her very own rags to riches story.  Although much ink has been spilled over her questionable influence in matters of spirituality, this post is not about her, instead it is about the church.

In 2005 a national survey of pastors was conducted, asking each of them to name the books that have most influenced them.  The Purpose-Driven Life was the most frequent response.  Authored by America’s pastor, Rick Warren, the book which has sold the most copies of any book in print, excepting only the Bible.  Warren, who has amassed significant wealth as a result, retains a significant level of influence including the ear of the President of the United States.

It’s a Little Hard to Tell

On the cover of this month’s issue (November 2009) of O: the Oprah Magazine is a byline touting the phrase “Who Are You Meant to Be?”  Standing in the line at the checkout of our local Target store, I made a bet with my wife: this article must have been written by purpose-driven himself.  Alas, my wallet was a bit lighter because instead of Rick Warren, this was a series of articles written by a number of people with a handsome number of different perspectives on the topic.

Oprah herself begins the series, talking about her own humble beginnings and her determination to be something more than her surroundings dictated.

I believe there’s a calling for all of us.  I know that every human being has value and purpose.  The real work of our lives is to become aware.  And awakened.  To answer the call.

No doubt that Oprah, deep down inside, believes that the strength of her determination has made her what she is.  Literally living in the lowest parts of society, she wanted to have more and to be more than she was.  However, it was not just her belief and determination that made her special.  She also had ability, talent, tenacity, and other character qualities that gave her an edge.  She is also intelligent with a great voice and charismatic personality.  Plenty of other women and men have believed and worked very hard, but have not achieved the stature of wealth and influence that is Oprah.

This bell rings with a similar pitch to what we hear in churches these days.  Joel Osteen is one who is eager to hold himself up is his best example of a life that can lived to its fullest potential.  What Oprah seems to forget is that if we all became her, then who would be at home to watch?  If we all stood at the top then who would be there to support us?

Tapping Into the True Self

“We already are… who we were born to be,” says Anne Lamott who has written books called Traveling Mercies and Grace (Eventually), both of which have been acclaimed by Christians as raw and real thoughts on being a Christian.  In her article which appears immediately after Oprah’s introduction, does not mention Christ or the church, even in passing.  Yet she freely acknowledges what many a purpose-driven pastor is hesitant to say: to preach this message, no god is required.

Lamott shares what seems to be a “spiritual” way to seek for the inner self, the inner purpose, and ultimately the inner peace.  She encourages readers to seek deep within to find what is really true for them and how they can live in resonance to the rhythm that their life is playing.  “I pray that your awakening comes with ease and grace,” she says, offering no divine connection at all.

Finding purpose in life is something that, when you listen closely, Rick Warren agrees does not require God.  In his TED talk, he encouraged those unbelievers he was talking to by telling them that “God smiles when He sees you be you.”  In essence he tells people who are successful without God that it is their very success that is driving them toward God’s favor.

I Don’t Need God for That

Just this week I had a conversation with my mother-in-law about her son whose recent reason for not wanting to attend church was that being good does not require a god.  He cited the Code of Hammurabi and how it predated the Ten Commandments by 400 years, and how that code was not given by God.  She was frustrated with him, but I assured her that he is right.

After catching her breath, I explained that when we begin to think of Christianity as simply a way to find our purpose in life and to live that life with impeccable morals, well he is exactly right.  No where is there an indication that the Code of Hammurabi was divinely inspired.  Not a single connection is made between the story of the Bible and the giving of that moral code.  Other than the first commandments which are unique to monotheism, the Ten Commandments are contained within not only the Code of Hammurabi, but also the scores of other such codes for conduct.

Christianity is not moralism.

Christianity is not about self-actualization or finding my life’s purpose.

Today is Friday, November 20th, 2009.  Today Oprah Winfrey will address her throngs and tell them that she is ending her talk show within the year.  What will be next?  She may decide to join the likes of Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, Steven Furtick, Creflo Dollar, and Joyce Meyer and begin her own ministry.  And why not?  If “pastors” preach the same message on Sunday that she has been giving people five days a week, it will be a walk in the park for Oprah.

I DO Need God for This

If what we mean by self-actualization we mean that when reading the Bible you realize that at your core you are a wretched sinner in desperate need for a savior.  After all, if we do work out the journey of self-actualization to its stated goal, that is all we will find.  It is the message of the layers of rules and regulations that protesters enjoy reminding Christians of when having moral debate. To teach that at the core of every human is a beautiful purpose not only undermines the teaching of the Bible, but when we lie in bed at night, we know it violates our very existence.

This is indeed bad news: it is the news that there is nothing good within me and there is no part of me that seeks good.  Yet, it is that core realization which opens wide the doors to the love of Christ and the Gospel.  When we are able to face the bad news, the good news is truly just that.  It is the reality of our sin that displays the beauty of what Christ has done.  It is as simple as the placards that people hold up during basketball games: John 3:16.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  Only when we embrace the bad news is the Good News sweet.

The Gospel is not about being good enough.  The Gospel is not about finally finding your life’s purpose.  And the Gospel does not end.  Christianity is about the sacrifice of Christ being enough, and that nothing else matters.  The Gospel says that there is nothing that you can do to make God love you any more and nothing you can do to make God love you any less.

This is what Christ has to offer.  Anything else is counterfeit.

But how do you tell the difference between a good sermon and a bad sermon? What makes good preaching good, and bad preaching bad?

For several years issues, Etc. has been doing on-air sermon reviews. We’ve reviewed the sermons of Joel Osteen, D. James Kennedy, T. D. Jakes, Robert Schuller, Joyce Meyer, as well as many less well-known preachers. We’ve reviewed the sermons of Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Eastern Orthodox, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, and others. Most of these preachers were speaking to packed auditoriums and to worldwide television audiences. Most of the preachers were dynamic, engaging, interesting, and even entertaining. Most of their sermons were terrible.

It has been said, “Never judge a book by it’s cover.”  Yet even alone, some book covers cause so much difficulty they require special notice.  After all, many more people are influenced by the cover of books as they glance over a bookstores wares than who actually read them.  Last week (November 3, 2009), a “new” installment of the tripe that Joel Osteen calls “truth” graced the shelves of bookstores across the country.  Having written two best-sellers that are essentially carbon copies of one another, any wise entrepeneur would make the third attempt to repackage the same refuse and sell it yet again.

Along with such infamous speakers as Joyce Meyer and Creflo Dollar, the message of Joel Osteen is what has been called the “prosperity gospel” or “prosperity theology,” which encourages its followers to pray hard, work hard, and believe hard, the result of which is wealth, health, and the fulfillment of every wonderful dream.  The prosperity message is uplifting, inspiring, and hopeful.  The only trouble is once it is taken from the pew into the real world, the cardboard facade becomes quickly weathered to reveal the emptiness inside.  Built within the doctrine is the reason for its success: you have just not believed hard enough.  So thousands of people live their lives during the week, more and more discouraged the further they get from Sunday until again the sit in the soft and luxurious stadium of Lakewood church and hear Osteen once again tell them to work harder and all their dreams will come true.

Immediately from the front cover, Joel hedges on blasphemy.  In typical fashion, the title It’s Your Time is supported by Osteen’s main star: his fortuitous self.  Osteen regularly puts himself on the platform as proof that what he says is true.  Interestingly enough, as a pastor, the more logical way to prove your point would be to make it from Scripture.  Even when he does use the Bible it is completely out of context and as he does so completely eliminates the truth that the passage or verse was intended to present.  Not only do we get one fantastic picture of the man himself as the proof of the “truth” he peddles, but his photograph on the cover depicts an almost trinitarian Osteen: three images overlaid one over the other.

Then there is the subtitle: “Activate Your Faith, Achieve Your Dreams, and Increase in God’s Favor.”  Other than the incidental words “faith” and “God’s,” one would think that this book could likely have been written by any sort of motivational speaker pushing the next great fix.  Yet with those two words, the game is totally changed and it causes the author to have the weight and responsibility of sharing solid, grounded biblical teaching.  While Osteen has admitted in interviews that he sees himself more as a life coach (also testified by the “related services” entry to the Amazon.com listing for the book), he continues to choose to function as a pastor, a position that comes with it the explicit weight of the appropriate use and teaching of the Bible.  Why would he consider a career change, though?  Is it not this propagation of lies that has brought him his wealth and acclaim?

Though I have not read the book (making this a “book cover review”), the number of lies and empty promises just on the outside of the book give it a sufficient enough stink.  To get a clue about if this is likely in the book, take a look at the back cover:

I don’t know where you are headed, what your dreams are, or how many obstacles you have to overcome.  But I encourage you to let these words reach deep down into your spirit.  Receive them by faith.  You are closer than you think. A global recession has forced many to postpone their dreams and cancel their plans.  You may have lost your job.  You may have lost your savings, maybe even your home.  It could be that you have health concerns or relationship problems.  Maybe you are frustrated because it’s taking so long to get where you want to be in your life.  Yet now is not the time to talk yourself out of you goals and dreams.  Now is not the time to get discouraged.  You may think as I sometimes have, that you’re not even halfway to your goal.  You may feel you have so far to go.  But the truth is, you don’t know.  Your dream may just be up around the corner.  You may think it will take another two years.  But if you stay in faith, who knows?  It may just be tow more months.  You are closer than you think.  I believe it’s your time.

If we assume that this is a summary of the book, do you spot any mention of God?  How about Jesus?  The Bible?  With a critical hat on, it would not be too difficult to assume, then that the book may not be about Christianity at all.  Instead, it sounds like just one more attempt for this medicine man to peddle his bottled cures and make a load of money in the process. The back cover starts with a firm admission: he does not have a clue a thing about you.  However, he continues to speak as if he has every idea of what your life is about and that if you believe hard enough then you will attain your dreams.  What is he basing this knowledge on?  If we look at what he says in this passage that has been volunteered to appear on the cover: nothing.  Nothing except for his own inner self that he has listened to and which has helped him become his own shining star.

In the absence of another option, it may be from this cover that Osteen is setting himself up as your Gnostic savior, one who has the secret knowledge and once you receive this knowledge (apparently contained within) you too will share in the health, wealth, and prosperity that he has.  Perhaps it is not a stretch at all to suggest that the cover is a photo of the trinity in the Osteen landscape.  Thus it makes complete sense that Osteen uses himself as the example of success: he is cunning enough to get thousands of people to empty their pocket books each week at his church and millions of more to empty their purses on his books.

Hey, after all this is America.  The most successful people are the ones with the fattest bank accounts and the most toys.  If that is how you want to define success, Joelie-boy, you’ve made it.  But don’t let the gates of hell smack you on the way through.

I am sitting on my couch enjoying my favorite secret addiction. When my husband is asleep or already off to work I sit on the couch… and watch TBN. I usually cant stop, I watch the movies, I cry, I watch the televangelists and sometimes get angry because they are a part of the reason why this addiction is a secret. Joyce Meyer just told me that I can be a missionary right from home by sending money to her organization, I told her that I didn’t want to stay home…She had no answer for that. TD Jakes is my favorite, he is always so hyper and sweaty, really into it. I wonder if he goes home and eats fried chicken with the women in the big hats, he seems the type. I want to eat with him, I wouldn’t refuse a big hat either. A deacon once told me that I had to take off my hat while I was in service, I told him that when he makes the old women in the big hats take theirs off I would take off mine. One of the many reasons the deacons and I didn’t get along so much. This preacher on right now is really boring, my husband would probably like him, he always likes the boring ones. I think that when I speak I might be similar sounding to this guy, not good news, I am going to try and be more like Bishop Jakes. Its 7am and truly unnecessary for this guy to be on at such a time, they should have old school kids TBN on. Gospel Bill preferably, at least they have costumes. 

I am going to make a board game called “church.” One of the tasks is going to be matching the cartoon character to what position they hold at the church. I got this idea from choir directors, they all look so similar. Its like someone had two hundred sons and taught them all how to play the keyboard then released them on the most popular churches.  “Now son you must dress very nicely, and play the keyboard. Secretly you must be ever so slightly feminine.”

I got bored with the show on TBN so I flipped through the rest of the channels. I learned a few things…

-The world is truly in disaster.

-America shot the moon with a rocket producing a large smoke cloud in an effort to find water below the surface. Some “planet” guy called it shooting the moon.

-I now know how to administer breathing medicine to a pug.

-The Spanish channel is far more exciting than English TV. If not for the language barrier I would probably never change it.

-SOMEBODY CALL THE DOCTOR CUZ UH I GOT THA FLU!! I echoed that from a jingle about the swine flu. This highly energetic jingle was followed by the death toll.

-The aloe green Egyptian cotton pillowcases are now sold out on the shopping network, but do not fear you can still get the amethyst.

This four-part study is designed to demonstrate, using verbatim transcripts of the tapes of Kenneth Copeland, some of the errors in the “Positive Confession” movement. You may find it hard to believe some of the things Copeland is reported as saying! But trust me, there has been NO tampering with the tapes. Not only did Copeland say these things in the 1980’s when this study was first created (as a tape set called “Wells Without Water” on the Banner Ministries tape list) but he continues to reiterate them up to this very moment. So do many, many others in the Word of Faith leadership. These teachers are totally unrepentant of their heresies, despite having been approached by countless brethren who tried to point out their unscriptural teachings. They continue to teach doctrines that are dishonest in their scriptural content, deceptive in their outcome, and destructive to the genuine faith of a Christian.

PART ONE: FORCES OR FRUIT??

Below are a number of statements by Kenneth Copeland taken from recordings of his messages. Kenneth Copeland has been chosen because he is the most well-known Positive Confession minister in this country, [England] but the teachings are common to them all.

     Ministers like Kenneth Hagin, Ray MacCauley, Oral Roberts, Jerry Savelle, and many others, all teach word-for-word the same doctrines you are going to read in this article so the same reasoning applies to them all. All the Word of Faith teachers have these doctrines with very little variation.

     Now to begin with, some of you may be questioning why anyone sees the need to expose false doctrines in ministries which seem to be so good, so fruitful. After all, the work done around the world by these Word of Faith ministries is enormous. Hundreds of thousands (so they say) are being reached with the gospel, and not only that, but many claim to have been healed and delivered and had their lives totally changed as a result of the Copelands’ ministries.

     It is not my intention to condemn every one of these works as false. If someone has been truly saved or healed, then I thank God for it.

     As well as that, I myself have benefited from some of the teaching of the Word of Faith movement. We do need to be positive in our attitude to Scripture. We do need to resist the Devil. We do need to praise God and boldly pray and have faith in God. All that is good. But whatever is good must also be holy and doctrinally correct if it is a Christian ministry.

     It’s not good enough just to be productive or positive or fruitful. We have to be scripturally orthodox. We have to avoid heresy or sooner or later we’ll be going down the path of the devil and leading many others by the nose along with us.

     I can’t rejoice that someone is saved simply to be dragged into heresy. God forbid. So I believe where error exists we ought to expose it. If, after reading this article, you are not convinced, I beg you to keep an open mind and to go to God in earnest prayer about it. Ask Him to show you the truth.

     So, first of all, we’re going to review a few quotes from a tape called “The Forces of the Recreated Human Spirit” by Ken Copeland. This is a message that has appeared numerous times in his teachings and in his magazine.

Copeland: “…and the power of God toward you provided certain things…Now, we’re going to be talking about the major forces that are alive inside the re-born human spirit. We’re going to find out what these forces are, and then find out how to release each one of them. Each one of these forces is alive on the inside of the human heart that has been reborn of God…”

     Now, notice the subtle change here. Copeland rightly says that the power of God brings us alive in our spirit, but then he says the result is that some forces are imparted there which we need to learn to release.

Right away we’ve stopped depending on the Holy Spirit for power, and we’ve started looking for a technique to use what WE now possess. But, as a Christian, we have nothing that we have not been given by God.

Our spirits DO have powers of course, but Adam proved that those powers, if he used them himself, only led him AWAY from God and into sin. Some witches and satanists have learned how to release supernatural forces in their spirit, but it’s done nothing but damage to themselves and to others.

Copeland: “These forces that are residing in there are there for a purpose. We find the force of the Faith, we’ll find the force of Righteousness, we’ll find the force of Wisdom, and we’ll find the force of the Love of God. Now, there is something that I want to say right here…Eternal life is imparted to a human spirit when a man makes Jesus Christ the Lord of his life. “Eternal Life” – that’s what the Bible calls this power force, that causes a miracle. Actually, it works a good deal…the…the way it’s formed up in my mind, the illustration, the picture, the Lord’s pictures that are in my mind about it, would be just like injecting a life force of some kind into a man’s heart.”

     This again is a subtle change. It takes us away from God and toward our own “godhood”.

     Life is certainly given to man when he’s born again. When you receive Jesus, you receive LIFE; that’s why. Because HE HIMSELF is Life.

     The Bible says, in 1 John 5:11, “The life is in the Son; he who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son has not life”.

     And, in John 17:3, we read “and this is eternal life: that they know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou has sent”.

     What IS eternal life then? IS it a power force that’s “injected into us” when we accept God, like electricity? No. Eternal life, ALL true life is God. God is life. There IS no true life apart from God.

     We come alive only because God Himself takes up residence in our spirit. As He promises in John 16:23, “If a man love me, my Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him”.

     And listen to THIS word of God: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abide in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. Apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4,5.)

     We HAVE nothing, we ARE nothing, and we can DO nothing. We are DEAD unless God comes by His Holy Spirit to take up residence within. And THEN do we have something? No! All we have, actually, is a privileged relationship to the One who has everything. We can boast of NOTHING.

     We have no power, except the power of the Holy Spirit – and that doesn’t belong to us at all.

Copeland: “And, what I’d like to really get into is some of these areas about how this force of eternal life (that includes these forces that I’ve named off here to you – the major forces) how this can be used in our daily lives.”

     As an example of the importance of these forces that exist in the human spirit, and their practical use in daily life, Copeland says that he was asked to pray for a brain-damaged little girl:

Copeland: “And they asked us to pray and so we did. And I laid hands on her and the Lord spoke to me, just as I laid my hands on her, and I never would have thought of this, I wouldn’t have thought of it in a hundred years. It’s just something, you know, some of those things of God, they just never enter our thinking unless He puts them there, because we think so low. We think so carnally…think on such a low level, you see, compared to the way God thinks, and actually the way He intended MAN to think.

And just as I laid hands on her, I started to pray and pray this: I started to say ‘God – I want You to use Your healing power and I want You to heal my little sister’s mind, and heal her brain’. See, actually, (and now think with me just a little bit)…you are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. Now your mind, you see, the mind is in that spirit-man, and the brain is the housing. The brain is the physical housing of the mind. Can you see that? The brain is the physical housing, that’s where the mind lives. That’s the physical organ that the mind operates in, that’s where the mind and the body come together. All right?

I was going to pray…see she had brain damage – wasn’t anything wrong with her MIND. But she was having a hard time making it function, her brain wasn’t working right…it had been damaged you see. And, so I said… I started to pray that. I said, ‘Lord’, you know, ‘I want You to heal the physical organ of her brain – use Your power’, and then He said this to me…why, I nearly came plumb off the floor when I realised the possibilities that have been opened to us in the spirit world by Jesus Christ and by sending His Holy Spirit – you see – to bring us over into getting to operate like He operates. [my emphasis]

He said this to me, He said ‘There’s no use to you even praying that!’.
I said ‘Well, huh! Why?’.
He said ‘Coz you don’t NEED that kind of a miracle.’
I said ‘Well WHY don’t I need that kind of a miracle?!’.
He said ‘Isn’t she born again?’.
I said ‘Yes sir, she is.’ (Little old girl filled with the Holy Spirit…lovely little girl.)
He said ‘Don’t your own statistics prove that the finest minds in the World today are only operating on about 10 to 12 percent of their mental capacity?’
I said ‘Yes sir’, you know, that’s what the book says. [Implication: that the Bible says this, which of course it DOES NOT! - my note]

He said ‘She’s GOT 90% of it there that she’s not even USING!’ And I saw it! I saw it! He said ‘You pray, and you believe God’, and He said ‘I will rise up on the inside of her’. He said ‘Tell her parents to feed her with the Word, and to teach her the Word, and feed her the Word and indoctrinate her on the Word of God – the living Word of Faith – and cause her to live and operate the Faith and let that eternal life that is residing in her open up the 90% of her brain, her mind…’ and so forth, ‘…and mental capacities that are not even being used yet’, He said, ‘and she’ll be smarter than anybody ‘coz they’re still only operating on about 10 percent’.”

     Now, there are several points here. He says some alarming things. For instance, that if we learn to use these spirit forces, we can operate in the spirit world just as God does. Presumably, we could create new worlds! And if THAT isn’t becoming gods, I don’t know what is.

MegaChurch Foreclosures: Are They The Devil’s Fault?

This video is about the concepts of “wealth tranfer” (‘the wealth of the wicked [or sinner] is laid up for the just’) and “supernatural debt cancellation” as taught in certain circles in the evangelical Christian church. These concepts support the belief that in the end times, all the world’s wealth will be supernaturally “tranferred” to the Christians. Not only that, but this MUST occur before the return of Christ. This is popularly taught by Kenneth Copeland, Fred Thompson (“Money Cometh!” and “No More Empty Hands”), T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar, and many others.

“The more positive you and I become, the more we will be in the flow of God.  God is certainly positive, and to flow with Him, we must also be positive.”

Están totalmente concentradas en sí mismos, en las cosas materiales, en la buena vida, y no en la vida santa.

El profeta Jeremías describió a los lobos rapaces quienes vienen cargando este engaño: “Como jaula llena de pájaros, así están sus casas llenas de engaño; así se han hecho poderosos y ricos. Engordaron y se pusieron lustrosos, y sobrepasaron los hechos del malo. No juzgaron la causa, la causa del huérfano, y sin embargo, prosperaron. ¡La causa de los pobres no juzgaron!”

Dice el Señor: ¿No juzgaré esto? ¿De tal gente no se vengará mi alma? Cosa espantosa y fea es hecha en el país: los profetas profetizan mentira y los sacerdotes dominan por manos de ellos. ¡Y mi pueblo así lo quiere! ¿Qué, pues, haréis cuando llegue el fin? (Jeremías 5:27-31).

Según Jeremías, estos lobos rapaces hacen sus fortunas sobre las espaldas de los pobres y necesitados. Un prominente evangelista está vendiendo “Sanidad del Cáncer” por $1,000 dólares. Por $500 dólares, una persona puede pasar al frente y recibir oración para cualquier clase de males. Pero, la oración por cáncer cuesta $1,000 dólares.

Todo esto es una hediondez en las narices de Dios. Y permítame decirle donde va a terminar. Servimos a un Dios paciente, quien no desea destruir o juzgar a nadie que es inducido en las redes del engaño por ignorancia.

El Señor previene y corrige sus ovejas. Pero el día viene cuando el dirá a estos lobos rapaces: “¡Suficiente! No robarán más a las viudas. No usarán la Sangre de mi Hijo como tarjeta de crédito para satisfacer vuestra lujuria. Ya no les será permitido ir por todo el mundo y predicar un Cristo materialista. A cada lobo rapaz vestido de oveja lo desenmascaro y lo llevo a la banca rota. Muy pronto el dinero que está fluyendo en ustedes, se secará completamente.”
