As we put the finishing touches to our Spring Summer 2013 Collection I share some background shots of our workrooms and cuttingrooms.

Ball Gowns, Cocktail Dresses and a Prom Dress

At Spencer our manufacturing partner (JSC Kauno Baltija) specialise in making bulk quantities of beautifully finished, really complicated gowns and dresses. So it made sense for us to not only include them in our collection but to have real fun with them – for example the one above “Kay” Jessica Rabbit would love it – in this pic we’ve paired it with the McMeekin suit jacket.

The halter neck of the Briggs gown has ties to allow flexibility and provide stark contrast to the Black back, although she also comes in French navy, Red and Scarlet with Cream bust.

We’re constantly being asked what the retail price of the dresses are so for inquiring minds they range from £125.00 to £330.00.

Spencer Manufacturing Team

Both Judy and I returned recently from Lithuania where we got to spend some quality time with our manufacturing team and although we knew they were good – there’s just no words to describe how amazing and dedicated they are. Maybe it’s the work-ethic but we were just blown away how brilliant they are.

Language barrier aside their keen eye for detail, dedication for getting it just right and understanding of how certain fabrics act and react – it was great to witness. They have titles such as Fabric Technologist and Seamstress Director – oh and by the way they have the capacity for 200 more sewers, so if you fancy spending some time in Kaunus I’m betting I can you get you a job (presuming of course you know how to use a sewing machine)!

PURE London

Quoted as the UK’s favourite fashion buying destination PURE London is where we are heading. February 12th – 14th are the dates and Olympia on Hammersmith Road is where it’s held.

Our stand is in the main hall towards the back on the left hand side in the STUDIO section in a 20 square metre stand numbered: M102.

Buyers from all over the UK and some from Europe and the US visit PURE and we’re looking forward to welcoming them to our stand. Our Agents in the UK “CCB” are on the case inviting as many as they can get their hands on to come and say hello.

There will be 2, possibly 3 of us from The Social Tailor, including Judy our designer and we’re expecting at least a further 3 from JSC Kauno Baltija, our manufacturers who are the main investors in the brand.

Judy and I are now set to be heading out to our manufacturer to see the first samples come off the production line on the 5th, 6th and 7th January to double check every element of the collection. After that we bring the entire collection back with us to the UK to shoot…
