Wow. These were so jaw-droppingly gorgeous that I had to write a post about them immediately upon their discovery.

Firstly, I encourage all who have been searching for a fantastic pair of T-strap heels to buy these. They’re the kind of shoes that make for an ample wardrobe: definitely a staple item. Aso, I want to mention that these lovelies are currently on sale at Zappos.com! There are quite a few colors to choose from: Forest (pictured here; I love these), Bordeaux, Brown, and Black. In the spirit of warm, cozy stories told before a fireplace (can’t wait for snow!) I thought I would share one of my own encounters with a classic pair of Mary Janes.

It was a sublimely beautiful winter afternoon, last year, when my best friend and I decided to take one last mid-December stab at Forever21 to see if we’d find the dresses we’d been holding our breath to find for a Christmas party full of friends we hadn’t seen in months. Well, not only did we find those dresses–I also stumbled upon the most exquisite pair of Mary Jane heels I’d ever seen. I’d normally just lust after them quietly and unobtrusively, but I just couldn’t contain the curiosity that was building up inside me. I warmly walked up to this girl who happened to also be wearing an equally lust-worthy outfit to match: an A-line satin dress of a brilliant jewel-toned blue (gorgeous)

…

I couldn’t stop staring at those beautifully crafted means of adornment on her feet. I decided there was only one thing I could do to regain some piece of mind: ask her what I was dying to know where could I purchase those myself?

“Excuse me–” I cleared my throat. “Excuse me. Hi. I”m sorry to interrupt you. I just had to tell you that I love your shoes.”

Her eyes widened and an eager smile crept up on her face. “Thank you.”

“They’re so cute. I”m dying to know: where did you get them?”

“Aww, thank you. They’re Juicy.”

“I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of Mary Janes..and I just wanted to tell you that I love those.”

“Thanks…yeah, I’m kind of obsessed with them.”

She smiled.

I smiled.

And I walked away with less of  a chip on my shoulder.

Really? Juicy? Who knew?

when i  get my first pay check, and obviously i would still be living with my parents, and ignoring that 2012 shit, i would go shopping (obviously).

i would want to buy:

1) doc martens

2) juicy couture perfume

3) chanel bag

4) save the rest for korea/hong kong/US trip

those are actually the top 3 on my list right now. lol i feel damn spoilt. i seriously dont want my parents to buy all these for me. i would feel so bad! and saving up money to buy the stuff would feel more precious to me because i worked for it. i guess it’s more of an accomplishment to me. and i dont even think i can buy all of them in one pay check D:<

Maybe it’s that Christmas is fast approaching or maybe it’s the dip in temperatures here on the East Coat. Either way, I find I am actually looking forward to wearing a cozy wool coat, some stylish gloves, and earmuffs. Did I really just say that? Earmuffs?

Yes, it’s true. I admit that I have a lifelong addiction to this quirky fashion statement. And, at least lately, I’m not the only one!  Last winter, I truly felt vindicated when the Washington Post ran a great piece about earmuffs by style leaders like J. Crew. Fun and fashionable!

And apparently, the boys agree. In a recent Glamour piece, several guys were asked about the much-maligned piece of headgear. The reactions might surprise you!

Guy #1, 33: “Women in earmuffs — two enthusiastic thumbs up. They are cute and have a sense of humor.”

Guy #2, 28: “Oooh, earmuffs. They conjure up a sexy innocence, like a plaid skirt and knee-high wool socks.”

Guy #3, 25: “Earmuffs have a coziness to them, and whenever I see a girl in earmuffs, I just think ‘adorable.’”

At Bloomingdales, I found Juicy Couture earmuffs in a Buffalo Check. Made of wool and faux fur, they will set you back $38.00

Or splurge on a luxurious cashmere pair in traditional Burberry plaid with shearling lining for $90.

I  love scarfs. I’m not sure if its because I like to add a little fun to my clothes with one, or because I’m constantly freezing cold but regardless I love them. The circle scarf is no exception.

I love the simplicity of the design, and also there is no real fussing around with it. You jusy put it on and go!

By far my favorite is this heathered gray number from Madewell: for only $45.

My new favorite fashionista which has also recently been a fave of The Cobrasnake, Atlanta De Cadenet, has got it going on. I find her carefree just-slipped-into-this look and vibe insanely intriguing. On top of her nonchalant fashion sense, being Duran Duran bassist John Taylor’s daughter really doesn’t hurt either. Not only that but her mother is a gorgeous photographer and her stepmother happens to be a co-founder of Juicy Couture. This girl has all kinds of pop culture airs surrounding her…probably why she has such a cool diverse fashion wit about her.

I wore track suit bottoms for the first time in over 13 years. Don’t get me wrong, I keep fit – I run, go to the gym, and swim. But I always do my exercise in shorts and wear jeans to and from where ever I go. I always hated tracksuits. I used to think they looked awful. Hideous even. But boyfriend has been  wearing them recently en route to the gym and I couldn’t help but thinking how hot he looks in them. So I bit the bullet and picked up myself a pair in H&M on this shopping expedition. I wore them today for the first time in public. I was going for the yummy mummy look – obviously! All they were missing was text on the bum – Juicy or Wakiki! I totally worked it. Well boyfriend thought so..

Whilst flipping through a fashion magazine I came across an ad for Juicy Couture’s Viva la Juicy perfume. There was even a little patch to peel back and sample the scent. I really thought I dug it. So I rooted through my drawer full of sample perfume vials and recovered one of the very same perfume, and in my haste I applied it to my arm instead of (more prudently) a tissue. I didn’t think I would need to use the tissue, since I already thought I liked the scent. Well, I was a fool. The real perfume was nowhere near as pleasant as the patch in the magazine. It was a strident, sickeningly sweet floral, heavy on the jasmine and gardenia…oh, and honeysuckle too, because it just wouldn’t have been nearly sweet enough without honeysuckle. They did try to balance the scent out with wild berries, mandarin, amber, caramel, vanilla, and sandalwood…but I just can’t get past those floral notes. This perfume is just way too sweet and nowhere near juicy enough. If I want juicy, I will wear Dewberry from the Body Shop (a wonderful perfume oil with berries and green leaves). If I want floral, I will go with Chanel No. 5 or Prada Infusion d’Iris. But I will never again go near this nearly toxic scent. I was almost surprised I didn’t get a rash on my arm where I had applied the perfume, that’s how awful it was. That said, I am sure there are a lot of people out there who love this scent, and that is OK. Because I learned my lesson years ago, when I loaned a sweater to a friend and it was returned reeking of a perfume that the laundry couldn’t wash away. The lesson was…stay away from the ladies who reek of flowers, and don’t let anyone borrow your clothes. It is a good lesson to have learned. Now if only I could understand how a company can so blatantly misrepresent its product in a magazine…ah hell, it probably isn’t that at all. It’s more likely a simple trick of chemistry. And they did it, they got me. That’s advertising for you.

Fall is soon to turn into Winter and the holiday are upon us.  All of this excitement has got me thinking about the well known fashion rules that most of us have either very intentionally or subconsciously worked into our personal style aesthetic. Case in point: I’m a stickler for the whole “No White After Labor Day” and “Velvet, Corduroy, and Tweed only in fall and winter” jibber-jabber. Call me old fashioned. I admit, my mindset might be a little bit dated and I’ve started to wonder, “who made up these so-called rules anyway?” To start the new season off right, I thought it would be fun to remix some of the classic fashion rules.

Mix Metals

For those of us that often find ourselves torn between the option to adorn with either silver or gold, there’s a great and obvious alternative…mix metals! Since you can never have too much of a good thing, it seems perfectly reasonable to wear silver and gold together. The two are surprisingly complimentary especially when the pieces are delicate and feminine.

So I went shopping in Raleigh earlier this week at the North Hills Mall and was very pleasantly surprised by the amount of quality boutiques in this shopping center!  I actually grew up in Raleigh, but since I’ve moved away this mall was torn down and then rebuilt as an outdoor shopping center, so this was the first time I had been back since they completed it.  Think of it as a mix between Lumina Station & Mayfair.  Anway, if you are planning on doing some shopping in Raleigh, I would definately recomend checking these places out at North Hills:

It is so soft and the deep-V and fit make it surprisingly sexy.  It also comes in gray and black.  Get yours for $85, they sell out quick!

There is also a Uniquities and a Monkees in the shopping center, so if you haven’t found anything at the first 3 spots (which is pretty much impossible), you are bound to find something here.  We are definatly spoiled by the Monkees down here in Wilmington, though.  It is much bigger and has more selection.

Banana Republic is hosting its 5th Annual Holiday Charity Fashion Show at their store in Mayfair, which benefits  The Leukema and Lymphoma Society.  There will be food from The Melting Pot, free wine, and a 25% discount on anything bought after the show!  There will also be some awesome raffle prizes donated by local businesses.  I will actualy be participating as a model in this show, so come laugh at me!  Tickets are $10 now, $15 at the door.  Stop by the store and get yours!
