Interesting… From 16 of Your Trickiest Sex and Love Questions Answered by Glamour.com as seen

Interesting…

From 16 of Your Trickiest Sex and Love Questions Answered by Glamour.com as seen on Lemondrop.com

13. Should you blog about love?

79% of glamour.com readers say NO.

Yes: “The Carly Simon rule applies: That post isn’t ‘about’ him, unless he’s vain enough to think it is.” -blogger Emily Gould, author of “And the Heart Says … Whatever”

No: “Blogging only hurt my love life. Try a diary. Some thoughts shouldn’t be expressed to anyone but a piece of paper.” -Julia Allison, host of “TMI Weekly” on NBC’s New York Nonstop

I have to agree with both Emily (who has a very interesting story might I add) and Julia.

If it obvious it is about the person you are referring to, and you use your name, then BAD IDEA! But writing under a pseudonym in general terms can help you connect with others out there who have similar experiences to share. It can be comforting to know you aren’t the only one who has had to deal with the relationship drama such as cheating and abuse—both as the culprit and/or the victim—or plain ol’ boring communication disintegration. Someone out there gets it…

So go ahead and reach out—just delete all identifying characteristics from your story.

I believe that living a balanced lifestyle does not only mean eating healthy and exercising regularl

I believe that living a balanced lifestyle does not only mean eating healthy and exercising regularly. It means being active, getting involved in things around you, socializing and being happy!

On Julia Allison’s blog she posted about the 3 minute Happiness Check.

The Huffington Post had questions to assess how satisfied you are with your life.

1. How often do you get to do things you really like to do?
2. How often do you find yourself actively looking forward to the day ahead?
3. How often do you get so involved in what you’re doing you lose track of time?
4. How often do you feel invigorated at the end of a long, busy day?
5. How often do you feel an emotional high in your life?

Looking through those questions, I can say that I have the ability to do and feel ALL of those things right now.

However, at the moment… I can’t answer those questions the way I want to. And the only thing holding me back is myself.

I think a lot of them have to do with, being motivated to get out there, keeping yourself active and engaged in things that you enjoy and completing tasks that make you feel accomplished.

I will be honest and say that I am not an organized person …at all. That is my weakness. I strive to be organized and motivated. Truly, I do. . I like to refer to myself as an aspiring Type A personality

But I find myself “falling off the wagon” more times then I’d like to count.

I know for me to ‘pass’ that happiness check I need to do certain things that will make me feel invigorated, happy and accomplished. And for me, that starts with making a schedule!

The things that are important to me right now are eating healthy, exercising, studying and taking advantage of the amazing city that I’m in.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by my choices and the freedom that I have so I just don’t do anything at all.

But no longer! I know it’s important to set goals to succeed. So here are my goals for the next couple months:

1) Make a weekly/monthly schedule that fits in exercise, food prep/shopping, blogging and studying.
2) Make plans to do at at least TWO New York “things” every week.
3) Socialize! It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and not call friends…especially in a new city. But I feel like my friends here are going to play a major role in helping me explore NYC.
4) Sign up to volunteer (cause that always makes you happy )

What are your happiness goals?

I don’t know why I love this Birthday Sex song so much. Please excuse me being a dumb sorority

I don’t know why I love this Birthday Sex song so much. Please excuse me being a dumb sorority girl. That said, I’m wearing a large Hanes v-neck shirt that my friend’s little sister decorated for me when we all went to the Jonas Brother’s 2009 World Tour a couple weeks ago. Again, don’t judge me. I fucking loved every minute of it.

So I know it’s way too early to be thinking about Lehigh and going back to school, but alas, I’m thinking about it. I’ve had a fantastic summer although it feels like I’ve done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING–but that’s just not the case! Can we summarize this past weekend? In. The. Back. Of. A. Police. Car. Moving on, when I started this summer, I’ve had three goals: 1. Work my ass off at Bergdorfs. 2. Lose weight. 3. Have the best summer ever. Hopefully, I’ve work my ass off at Bergdorf and well, the summer’s not over yet, so I have no idea what’s in store for me. But, what I know for sure is that I’ve failed miserably at goal #2.

Going out all the time, sorority drinking (aka what I like to term it– for any of you sorority fuckers out there, you DEF have to know what I’m talking about… you know, drinking everything that’s put in front of you as if someone’s going to take it away from you!), unexplained need to eat at the end of the night, getting NO sleep ever, and well, not being human.

So I figured this next month I’ll try to be more healthy. As Karl Lagerfeld infamously said, “Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight.” And it’s so true. Well, so true for me. Right after work, I strolled to Bloomingdale’s to look at beautiful clothes, shoes, and handbags in attempts to find that motivation to lose weight. Picked out some dresses for various functions I have coming up and tried on some J Brand, Rock & Republic, and Joe’s Jeans because unlike Miss Julia Allison, a girl can never have enough denim.

That said, I learned a lot: I didn’t gain any ridiculous amount of weight this summer, I’ve probably lost some? (but, who’s checking the scale) but it’s more about just what I’m emotionally happy with. And as of right now, I’m totally not happy with it. At all.

So I guess I’m going to put a bigger effort in doing something about it, instead of bitching.

There are so many great dresses on sale right now and while places like Bergdorfs and Saks are basically sold out of their sale merchandise, Bloomingdale’s has some great finds if you really look hard. I joke with my friends that people’s thrift shopping is comparable to me shopping at Bloomingdale’s or Saks during sale season. I quickly picked four dresses to try on. I forgot what the brands of the pink and blue number were, but the black one-shoulder dress is ABS by Allen Schwartz and the brown one is BCBG Max Azria.

I didn’t end up buying this but I fucking love the rosettes and one-shoulder. It’s a little blurry but the color was perfect for the summer and just a fun, great dress. Too bad I looked pregnant in it.

During a recent feng shui attack, I carted a few stacks of magazines out to be recycled. I flipped back through last August’s “how to” issue of Wired (okay, yes, it was because the infamously fabulous Julia Allison was on the cover). In case you’re wondering how to be a “game god,” Wired’s stance last summer was that you should rent movie tie-ins and NBA Live 06–not because they’re good games, but because they’ll boost your Xbox 360 Achievement score.

I decided to check my own Achievement score, because I haven’t really paid attention to it before. When I discovered that my Achievement total is pretty low, I realized that this must just be an invalid way to measure one’s game-goddedness. I mean, what if you don’t worship at the glowing green ring of your 360, but prefer to spread your admiration equally amongst a few consoles? Or what if you’re literally the best katamari-roller in the world? You can only earn 1000 Achievement points for most games, no matter how amazing you are at them or how hard they are.

Yes, this advice was from last summer and yes, it was possibly a joke to begin with, but what were Mario and Pikachu doing in that illustration? Those wacky little Nintendo heroes are a major reason I could never measure all of my gaming triumphs in Xbox Achievements in the first place.

What do LeVar Burton, Felicia Day, Steve Wozniak, Marina Orlova and Shaquille O’Neal have in c

What do LeVar Burton, Felicia Day, Steve Wozniak, Marina Orlova and Shaquille O’Neal have in common? They all appear in I AM A GEEK — a collaborative video project bringing together some of the biggest creators, personalities and web celebs in the online world.

I AM A GEEK leverages the power of social media to do good. The video is a project of the Society for Geek Advancement, which was founded upon the principle that we should all embrace our inner and outer geek.

The Society encourages the global geek community to realize its potential to give. This delightful organization is helping Room to Read (one of my favorite charities) build libraries for children in developing countries. Without Room to Read, many of these children would not have access to books.

You can help by spreading the Geek Advancement message through blogs and social media, purchasing an “I AM A GEEK” t-shirt (all proceeds go to Room to Read) and/or making a donation. Lets show the world what it means to be a geek and the power for good of a global geek community!

As mentioned earlier, the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner was held Saturday night at the Washington Hilton. But besides Barack Obama unleashing his inner comedian and Wanda Sykes being Wanda Sykes, CELEBRITIES WERE THERE!

Here are just a few of the celebs TFG spotted during the Obama/Sykes routine:

How Jim Cramer, Rahm Emanuel, and Kate Walsh sat next to each other is beyond me. Who made the seating chart anyway?

Continue reading…Tyra Banks looks like she’s trying to do that whole “smile with your eyes” pose, except it’s coming off more as “I have to fart” or “I’m not amused”.

The king of Twitter and his wife were seated at the CNN table. I wonder if they were sitting next to Larry King? Also at this table but not pictured were Wolf Blitzer and Janet Napolitano.

Richard Belzer…what’s he up to these days? Is he still on Law & Order?

I think she thought she was there to plug the paperback version of her book Audition.

Ann Coulter, Julia Allison, and Facebook’s Randi Zuckerberg. I never thought those three names would appear in the same sentence.

Now I’m not certain, but I think this is Dr. Drew along with Kyra Sedgwick sitting next to him…I think.

Maybe she was there to judge the food served at the dinner.

William H. Macy laughing it up. And although you can’t really see in this photo, Felicity Huffman was right behind him.

And lastly, I leave you with this photo…”Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford. Unfortunately I did my best to spot Ed Westwick, but no dice.

For a more detailed look at who was there, FishbowlDC had a nice look at the guestlist.

I love Tumblr. I really do. But… it’s impossible to stay organized using it. I will probably never find my “real posts” on Of Vice and Men, and I’ve been toying with the idea of this website now more than ever because–this is going to sound so lame but–I, for some reason, have high hopes for it. I think it’ll be well-received?

Don’t call me Julia Allison. I love her, but I think we have different purposes. Maybe I’m trying to brand myself? I just think that the things I want to do with my life… are universal. So why not fucking blog about it and express myself.

I was afraid of splitting my life between two blogs… or right now, in my head (since I have a future project) between three.

It’s been awhile.

Here’s to a great new beginning!

A few months ago, a friend and I were talking about blogs, and exchanging links. She gave me one for Julia Allison. I’d never heard of her before and said so. This is kinda how that conversation went:

Me: Who’s this Julia chick?

Her: Oh, my God! Are you even serious? How can you not know Julia Allison?

Me: I don’t know. Why should I know her?

Her: Seriously, if I didn’t know better, I’d swear you lived under a rock!!

Me: I guess she doesn’t hang under rocks, then.

Her: No, she doesn’t. She just hangs in cool places, with cool people, doing cool things. If you were half as cool as you think you are, you’d know this.

Right after that conversation decimated any notions of my coolness, I looked up Ms. Allison and read all about her cool. And was totally unimpressed. She is totally famous for simply being famous. And that’s it. Wired Magazine actually made her their cover girl, promoting her and her secrets of self-promotion, because of her fame-for-nothing status. Seriously.

So, she’s famous. A fame-ho. Her Non-Society site is the latest in a string of different blogs and websites. She’s quite a following of devoted fans, but a seemingly larger number of haters. Someone has even resurrected the old Trainwrecks name, and has dedicated Trainwrecks2.0 to hating Julia. Tumblr made a bit of a fool out of themselves last month when they banned, and then re-instated Tumblr accounts which reblogged about Allison. I can’t decide if she really has enough honest to goodness fans to be as popular as she is, or if it’s the haters that are driving her stock upward.

I don’t get it, I really don’t. And that probably shows you all how totally uncool and decidedly un-hip I am. But I don’t freakin’ get it. She doesn’t really write, but she updates voraciously. She’s appeared as a talking head for something like 400 TV appearances, but Bravo is apparently not picking up the option they had for her Non-Society reality show. She has a dating column, but it appears her love life is always in the crapper. She doesn’t blog, or vlog, or anything like it. No. She lifecasts. No shit. And she’s a bonafide internet star. For now. Until someone younger, hotter, cooler and hipper comes along.

Famous for being famous. A reflection on today’s society, and our obsession with quasi-celebs like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian? Or a sign of things to come, with more clebrities being spawned online? Are today’s blogger’s (or lifecasters!) going to climb the fame wagon like yesterday’s reality TV stars?
