I have rhythm now.  And its not just from the records in the record store.  This outfit hit fashion rhythm courtesy of some totarry hawt Madonna-esque cross jewelry from Je Suis.

It all started at The Whore Mansion when I saw this very fabulous I Love NY Mini Sweater.  The way she has it layered over a black tank with the shorts and hose reminded me of Hollywood’s idea of great dance gear in the 80s.  So I took her basic style and amped it up with some accessories into a like totally fabulous nod to flashdance.

The basic look consists of the aforementioned sweater.  The Whore Mansion‘s Shitty Pants in Black. I’ve gone with the *Sheer* Tights 21: Fishnet in Bold Black to give myself that underlayer fit for broadway (or ballet school) hopefuls. Whatever welds your iron.

That gives you a basic look to build on.  For this particular look, I took inspiration from Strawberry Singh‘s recent blog and opted a tattoo in.  Her’s looked so rich, who could resist adding one when a bare midriff presented itself?

This one, from The Sea Hole,  felt flowery but with a bit of edge to it as its Death Lili name suggests. This one is very me, but with the infinite options out there you are sure to find one that is very you for your next cropped top.

The next piece to fall into place was this lovely low slung rock and roll studded belt.  The Ginger Belt from Nyte’N'Day leaves me waiting for the next Whitesnake song and looking around to see which car Tawny is going to roll around on next. Because if she doesn’t show up, hell, I’m a ginger. I’ll do it myself.

Once the belt was in place, it became a no brainer to hit up Blitzed for some leather cuffs. I used the classic Brutal Cuffs in Grey on the left wrist, but the newer Legacy Cuff in Black on the right.

The real aha! moment for me with this look was hitting Je Suis and noticing that the Gothique set would make a lovely Madonna reference in the mix of my 80s dance look. Who danced in the 80s without dancing to Madge?! I’m wearing both the earrings and the necklace here. And yes, my earrings are properly adjusted under all that hair.

These lovely flowing locks were styled by the geniuses at !Lamb. This is Honey in Butterfinger with a custom tint.

Side Note: I add a custom tint to most of my hair. Even if its already red. The shade of gingah I like is very specific. These are the detail things that make you unique ladies. Don’t whine to me about not getting this or that if you aren’t doing your detaiilll worrrkkk. You know who you are.

And finally, what would a nod to the 80s be without some sassy legwarmers? These are the Bax Wool Legwarmer 2.0 in Black. Mine are committing complete heresy by being tossed over some Mentine Basic Ankle Boots in Black Patent.

A little Moonshadow in True Blood and some nice Miamai No Alpha Lashes N15 and I hit the streets of ‘New York’ to find a nice record shop where I could find some dance inspiration.

If you need me, I’ll be in the salon shaking it to some vintage Prince. Because in this look, there will definitely be some Thieves in the Temple tonight.

Luna Jubilee came up with a great blogger challenge, posting once a week with a specific color as the focus of the post. Week 1 is grey, and I think I came up with something really cute! At the same time, I got the new prim nails which are a collaboration between Julia Merosi of Je Suis and Leah McCullough of Naive. So I tried the grey pack, it’s actually 1 pair of nails for 3 hand sizes, and a version with or without a ring. Then you wear the included HUD and can change the color of the nails to one of 5 shades, the metal of the ring (if you’re wearing it) to one of 5 metals and then there are 8 stone choices. You can also choose a glow setting if you like. I think they finished off the outfit nicely, the only critique of them is that there is no glove layer included in case the nails don’t cover the ones on your skin. I was already wearing a glove layer with this outfit so I couldn’t have worn another anyway, but it’s something to think about. You can get the nails at either of the designer’s stores linked above.

Next week’s color will be blue, so I’m already thinking of what I’ll wear…

I’m featuring a couple of items in today’s look, the base of it is of course the dress. This is the Anna Mini from E! – Eclectic Apparel and Accessories by Eclectric Wingtips. I love the neckline on it, if I could guarantee everything would stay in place while wearing it, I would look for something just like it in the real world. The dress comes in 11 colors which means there is really one for just about everyone. Each dress costs L$ 225 but you can also get the fatpack of all of them for L$ 1200, which gives you a huge discount.

The other item that jumps out at you is this sweet straw bag from Je Suis called Insouciant (which means carefree in French, if you were wondering). Julia Merosi knows that a woman often has to carry an enormous amount of things with her, and this bag can certainly hold them all! It’s available in 5 natural tones for L$ 250 each. Each bag comes with 3 attachment points complete with a corresponding hold pose. You can also carry it on your shoulder or forearm, which looks very chic European to me.

Yesterday, Je Suis by Julia Merosi released her first new hairstyle under this brand (there were a couple under the Bax Coen Designs brand previously). This style is called Sonique and the store uses a system that is a bit different than others. Here you buy from 1 to 5 individual wigs and then you choose from 20 colors what it will be with a HUD. Once you color the hair it is set like that permanently so you get a demo one to play around with and experiment with. Once you apply the color you want, you drop the hair onto the ground and take it back. Now you can resize it as normal and it is copyable as well. The hair packs are priced as follows: 1 hair = L$ 129, 2 hairs = L$ 199, 3 hairs = L$ 229, 4 hairs = L$ 299 and 5 hairs = L$ 329. The colors range from blonds, reds, browns, to the darkest tones. The style of Sonique is sort of like weaving, not that different from braids. It doesn’t come with a hair-base but it works with all the hair-base skins I tried, as well as tattoo layers. If this style is an indication of what else Je Suis will release in it’s hair range, I can’t wait!

“Je Suis Sophistique” means I am sophisticated, and while I attempted to look somewhat sophisticated for the occasion, I must admit I am a bit of a cheater. Je Suis by Julia Merosi recently released fully prim lashes as well as the Sophistique jewelry pieces. The problem…well, I am terrible at editing fully prim lashes – it took me just about forever to edit one eye because between being unable to concentrate, editing little prims, and watching TV; well it wasn’t going to be done tonight. When my attention can be focused I’ll get to the other eye. A good tip to editing is to make a copy and add something to the name to indicate it has been edited. The lashes cost L$ 250 but are well worth it if you can be patient (unlike me).

All the jewelry that you see, Sophistique, comes in 2 “sets” of colors that you can buy as separate items in a lighter or darker version. Each version is color change, by clicking on the individual pieces you can change the color of the pearls and metal and turn glow on or off. You can buy the bracelets for L$ 149, necklaces for L$ 249 and earrings for L$ 149.

Last night Julia Merosi released her new African jewelry set.

The full set is having a Bellychain (and omg i so love that one), 2 kind of Bracelets dark and light with a zebra print, Earhoops, and a long and short necklace.
The necklace you can wear seperate or wear the 2 sizes at the same time to have a extra long necklace. The necklaces can be worn at the chest or spine so you can combi it with any outfit and jacket.
