I know that for the next several days that people are going to heap praise after praise on Ted Kennedy. They call him the “lion” (I would say “liar”) of the Senate and other such things, but what has he really accomplished?

Apart from being one of the most vocal proponents of just about every left-wing, socialistic policy ever put before Congress, there isn’t very much. Most of what he helped to put in place, for example the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act which resulted in toxic assets causing a credit market freeze, will be done away with over time as people come to realize that such policies do way more harm than good.

So, what will Ted be remembered for?

Writing for ABC News, Susan Donaldson James has this:

In the summer of 1969, consiglieres of the former John F. Kennedy administration — Robert McNamara, Arthur Schlesinger and Ted Sorensen, among others — convened in Hyannisport to write the apology that would save the young Sen. Ted Kennedy from himself.

Only days before, Kennedy had left the scene of a fatal car crash on the small island of Chappaquiddick on Martha’s Vineyard, taking the life of 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne.

The second-term senator waited nearly 10 hours to report the accident and offered virtually no explanation other than he “panicked.”

…

The details of the July 19 accident were salacious: a Regatta Weekend reunion party at a friend’s cottage with all married men (except one) and six women — the “boiler room girls” — who had worked together on Robert Kennedy’s 1968 presidential campaign.

After a day of sailing and heavy drinking, Kennedy drove his black Oldsmobile sedan off a small wooden bridge into Poucho Pond, trapping Kopechne in seven feet of water.

Edward Moore Kennedy — only 38 and up for re-election the following year– had violated one of the cardinal rules in politics: “Never get caught with a dead girl or a live boy.”

Many details of the scandal remain unresolved. Why was Kennedy’s wife not allowed to hear the speech his handlers crafted for him after Kopechne was killed? Why was the Kopechne family paid off for their silence?

That is what Ted Kennedy will be remembered for. And it is a bad legacy that he leaves behind.

“…and there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.” (Luke 21:25)

“…and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.” (Revelations 6:12)

Tomorrow, July 22, 2009, there will be a total eclipse of the sun visible from a large portion of the earth. On July 19, 2009, Anthony Wesley, an amateur astronomer, detected a new impact on Jupiter.

Impact mark on Jupiter, 19th July 2009

“Image captured by Anthony Wesley on 19th July 2009 at 1554UTC from Murrumbateman AustraliaI’ve been slashdotted, and my web server crushed. Now moved this to jupiter.samba.org provided by Tridge – thanks mate, you saved my a$$, you’re a legend.

Date and Time of Report

Dark impact mark first noted at approximately 1330UTC on 19th July 2009 from my home observatory just outside Murrumbateman NSW Australia.

Inspection of earlier images shows the impact visible on the planets limb at 1411UTC.”

“Observation Report

Update (20th July 1100UT) Glenn Orton from JPL has imaged this site using the NASA Infrared Telescope on Hawaii and confirms that it is an impact site and not a localised weather event.

I started this imaging session on Jupiter at approximately 11pm local time (1300UTC). The weather prediction was not promising, clear skies but a strong jetstream overhead according to the Bureau of Met. The temperature was also unusually high for this time of year (winter), also a bad sign.

The scope in use was my new 14.5″ newtonian, in use now for a few weeks and so far returning excellent images.

I was pleasantly surprised to find reasonable imaging conditions and so I decided to continue recording data until maybe 1am local time. By about midnight (12:10 am) the seeing had deteriorated and I was ready to quit. Indeed I had hovered the mouse over the exit button on my capture application (Coriander for Linux) and then changed my mind and decided instead to simply take a break for 30 minutes and then check back to see if the conditions had improved. It was a very near thing.

When I came back to the scope at about 12:40am I noticed a dark spot rotating into view in Jupiters south polar region started to get curious. When first seen close to the limb (and in poor conditions) it was only a vaguely dark spot, I thouht likely to be just a normal dark polar storm. However as it rotated further into view, and the conditions improved I suddenly realised that it wasn’t just dark, it was black in all channels, meaning it was truly a black spot.

My next thought was that it must be either a dark moon (like Callisto) or a moon shadow, but it was in the wrong place and the wrong size. Also I’d noticed it was moving too slow to be a moon or shadow. As far as I could see it was rotating in sync with a nearby white oval storm that I was very familiar with – this could only mean that the back feature was at the cloud level and not a projected shadow from a moon. I started to get excited.

It took another 15 minutes to really believe that I was seeing something new – I’d imaged that exact region only 2 days earlier and checking back to that image showed no sign of any anomalous black spot.

Now I was caught between a rock and a hard place – I wanted to keep imaging but also I was aware of the importance of alerting others to this possible new event. Could it actually be an impact mark on Jupiter? I had no real idea, and the odds on that happening were so small as to be laughable, but I was really struggling to see any other possibility given the location of the mark. If it really was an impact mark then I had to start telling people, and quickly. In the end I imaged for another 30 minutes only because the conditions were slowly improving and each capture was giving a slightly better image than the last.”

July 19, 1877: The first Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon are held in front of a few hundred spectators. The only event held was the Gentlemen’s Singles with W. Spencer Gore finishing as champion and winning twelve guineas. The competition was held to raise money for a new roller, but it was so successful despite rain that it was held again the next year. The championships have been held yearly except during the World Wars.

The first contest was held with 22 male participants. In 1884, Ladies’ Singles and Men’s Doubles were added. The event became global in nature in 1905 when an American joined the play. In 1907, Norman Brooks, an Australian, was the first foreign winner and since that time, only two Brits have won the title.

Today, there are crowds of about 500,000 in attendance and millions more follow the game via television, the Internet, the press, and radio. Players from 60 nations regularly compete. It is truly a worldwide event. There are five main events: Gentlemen’s Singles, Ladies’ Singles, Gentlemen’s Doubles, Ladies’ Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. There are four evens for juniors, mixed doubles are not included for this age group. There are four invitational events as well.

The gentlemen’s matches are best-of-five sets while the ladies’ and mixed doubles are best-of-three. Most events are single-elimination tournaments. Prior to 1922, the previous year’s winner were granted byes into the final round allowing for many repeat winners due to their rested state. Since 1922, the title holders have had to play from the start of the championships.

Today is Sunday, July 19, the 200th day of 2009. There are 165 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History

On July 19, 1989, 111 people were killed when a United Air Lines DC-10 crashed while making an emergency landing at Sioux City, Iowa; 185 other people survived.

On this date:

In 711, the Arabs conquer Spain.

The attack was no surprise. For many weeks, an increasing number of Berbers had been arriving in Spain from Tangiers under the command of Emir Musa. Tarik Ibn Ziyad, Governor of Tangiers, had landed a few weeks earlier in the Bay of Algeciras with around 8,000 men on the Rock of Calpe. Later, the rock was called Tarik Mountain after Djabal Tarik. Today, it is called Gibraltar.

The Visigoths, with their King Roderich also being Spain’s sovereign, were already embroiled in a domestic dispute. So they did not respond to the impending invasion. The first bloody battle between the Arabs and the Visigoths took place on July 19, 711. It turned out to make history.

Some 12,000 Arab men squared up against 100,000 Goths, who were led by King Roderich. They met at Laguna de la Janda and the battle lasted for many days. Yet even though the Goths outnumbered the Arabs, they had no chance. The King’s generals were more concerned about their personal struggles than the Arab enemy. The Visigoth era came to an end. The few thousand Arab soldiers advanced into the empire, which was already in a state of internal collapse.

Historian Michael Borgholte of Humboldt University in Berlin says that the Visigoths simply did not perceive the danger that the Arabs posed. “We know that the invasion in 716 advanced almost as far as the Pyrenees,” Borgholte explains. “This means that the Arabs had moved at an incredibly fast pace. They had already proven their battle skills in the Middle East during the seventh century. The 716 advance came to an abrupt halt only when the Christians had recovered somewhat and were in a position to take countermeasures.”

In only seven years, the Arabs managed to march from the South to the North and to establish themselves as the new rulers. The Caliph Empire now extended from Damascus in Syria to the Coimbra and Pamplona in Spain. The battle against Islam in Europe began with the Arabs’ crossing of the Pyrenees in 718. Although they established base camps in Toulouse and Narbonne, they were not able to repeat their initial prompt victory in Spain.

In 732, the advance of the Arabs to the north-west frontier near Poitiers and Tours was brought to a decisive halt by Karl Martell, and the Moors retreated to Spain.

A culture emerged in Spain that enriched Europe with gold-woven fabrics, glass, porcelain, carpets, silk and magnificent ornamental architecture. It was a culture which brought forgotten European knowledge back to Europe. For the Jews in particular, the Muslim age was the “Golden Diaspora.”

“We know about Jewish physicians who worked at the Caliph court, not only as physicians, but also as advisors to the Caliphs,” Borgholte says. “We also know about Jewish translators, who translated Greek philosophers, such as Aristotle and Euclid, from Arabic into the national language. This enabled Christian authors to translate the texts into Latin.”

Numerous academics from England, France and Germany came to Toledo. In this “City of Knowledge,” they studied the translations of ancient works.

“It was, in fact, the beginning of the late Medieval period in the western world, based on the acceptance of ancient philosophy and science rendered by the translations from Arabic,” Borgholte explains.

Yet the cultural climax is associated with the “Reconquista” that was slowly beginning to take shape, the re-conquering of Spain by the Christians. The Muslims withdrew from the regions they inhabited after battles in which many lives were lost. In 1493, they were finally conquered and the country was radically converted to Catholicism.

Nevertheless, the palaces in Granada and churches that were once mosques in Cordoba and Seville bear witness to the Arab age in Spain, which started on July 19, 711.

In 1333, Scottish forces were defeated by the English under King Edward III in the Battle of Halidon Hill.

In 1553, 15-year-old Lady Jane Grey was deposed after claiming the monarchy of England for nine days. King Henry VIII’s daughter Mary was proclaimed Queen.

In 1799, French troops in Egypt discover the Rosetta Stone, a basalt slab inscribed with three ancient languages that allows researchers over 20 years later to translate the hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt.

A French officer of Napoleon’s engineering corps found this stone near the city of Rashîd (Rosetta), Egypt, in 1799. Known as the Rosetta Stone, it provided the key to the translation of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. The Rosetta Stone, inscribed in 196 bc, contains the same message—a decree praising the Egyptian King Ptolemy V—carved in three different scripts: Egyptian hieroglyphs, Egyptian demotic, and Greek. Scholars deciphered the hieroglyphic and demotic versions by comparing them to the Greek translation.

In 1813, the Sisters of Charity, the first American religious order, was founded by Mother Elizabeth Bayley Seton.

In 1834, Edgar Degas, the French Impressionist painter and sculptor, was born.

In 1848, the First Woman’s Rights Convention began in Seneca Falls, New York. The idea of holding such a meeting had originated eight years earlier in London, England, when Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, and other women delegates were barred from participating in the 1840 World Antislavery Convention.

In 1869, naturalist John Muir set pen to paper to capture his experience of awakening in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Published in 1911, My First Summer in the Sierra is based on Muir’s original journals and sketches of his 1869 stay in the vicinity of the Yosemite Valley. His journal tracks his three-and-a-half-month visit to the Yosemite region and his ascent of Mt. Hoffman and other Sierra peaks. Along the way, he describes the flora and fauna as well as the geography and geology of the area.

In 1870, the Franco-Prussian war began. France declared war on Prussia on July 19, 1870. The war ended with the Battle of Sedan in 1871. Napoleon was defeated and France lost its supremacy in Europe. Although the military conflict was thus over, the official end did not come until 1871 with the Treaty of Frankfurt. This made Alsace and Lothringen part of the German Empire.

In 1886, Franz Liszt played the piano for the last time at a concert, in Luxembourg.

In 1941, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill launched his “V for Victory” campaign in Europe.

In 1943, Allied air forces raided Rome during World War II.

In 1944, the Democratic national convention convened in Chicago with the renomination of President Franklin D. Roosevelt considered a foregone certainty.

In 1947, Aung San, Burmese nationalist leader and prime minister, was assassinated in Rangoon (Yangôn, Myanmar).

In 1954, the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings—which became a sociocultural phenomenon and was adapted into a series of blockbuster films in the early 2000s—was published this day in 1954.

In 1965, the former leader of the Republic of South Korea, Syngman Rhee, has died in exile in the US state of Hawaii at the age of 90.

In 1969, Apollo 11 and its astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin and Michael Collins, went into orbit around the moon.

In 1975, the Apollo and Soyuz space capsules that were linked in orbit for two days separated.

American alleged murderer of her father and stepmother

Lizzie Borden allegedly killed her father and stepmother with an ax in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1892. Lizzie was the youngest child born to Andrew and Sarah Borden. Lizzie’s father, a banker, was one of the richest people in Fall River. When Lizzie was two years old, her mother died; her father’s second marriage a few years later supposedly caused dissension within the family over matters of inheritance and because of the lower social status of his new wife’s family.

On August 4, 1892, the bloody corpses of Andrew Borden and his wife were found in their home. Lizzie’s stepmother had been killed by 19 blows to the head, and her father had died of similar injuries. Within a week, police arrested Lizzie Borden for the crime, but she was acquitted after a sensational murder trial. In spite of the acquittal, the community of Fall River shunned Lizzie for the rest of her life. Lizzie’s actions, particularly her burning of a dress in the kitchen stove a few days after the murders, led many to believe that she was guilty of murdering her parents. Lizzie and her surviving sister split their inheritance. The sisters died within a few days of each other in June 1927.

A children’s rhyme immortalized what allegedly happened on the morning of August 4: “Lizzie Borden took an ax, and gave her mother forty whacks/When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one.” In addition to the rhyme, the Lizzie Borden story has been made into an opera, ballet, and movie, and is the subject of numerous books.

July 19,2009: As you can see on my posting about the Summer Solstice Occult Calendar, July 19 is one of their key dates, being 13 days before Lughnasa. This morning as I drove past the BrookStreet Hotel (see my posting “Say it ain’t so Alex Jones” for more on Illuminati Brookstreet Hotel )I was greeted to a scene of carnage straight out of one of BrookStreet Pictures Horror movies ; crushed bicycles and bodies strewn all over the road, and every Masonic cop and fireman in town there with their disco party lights going, they even brought in a special Masonic helicopter, painted hemi-orange , with the word ORANGE on it, to airlift the victims of the hit-and-run.

New privatized Masonic health care, Orange Lodge style.

The Masons around here are very hard-core ORANGE LODGE types, just like you hear about in Northern Ireland. Many are what’s known as UNITED EMPIRE LOYALISTS, they are the descendents of Americans who were loyal to the Monarchy during the American revolution and came to settle in Canada, north of the St. Lawrence river.Kind of funny how it was an off duty by-law officer who just happened to be an eye-witness.

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Five+injured+slams+into+cyclists/1806223/story.html

Bilderberg’s Brookstreet Hotel in upper right

This reminds me of an incident in the late 70’s when three teenage cylcists were killed in front of the local Masonic lodge . I learned many years later that my girlfriend, an MK-Ultra victim, was the first to arrive on the scene, part of her ongoing trauma conditioning no doubt.

This is also reminiscent of a recent event where a young lady by the name of McCarthy, yes, as in Joe McCarthy, somehow got caught her clothing caught in the trunk of a cab and she was dragged to her death until the cab stopped at a new bridge that was just completed and was only lacking a human sacrifice to Masonicly ‘bless’ it. Funny how it was reported that a military vehicle just happened to be parked on the side of the freeway near the bridge whent he cab came to a stop.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/11/28/kanata-cab-051128.html
Finally , here’s a couple of songs for the naive members of the Orange Lodges ; do you not realize that you are simply stooges for the Zionist New World Order ? Don’t take my word for it…it’s all over the net, Calvins real name was Cohen, and this King William of Orange was nothing more than a Jew-Banker puppet. It’s even admitted now that the IRA was infiltrated by British Intelligence, so it was not the Irish setting bombs in London, it was the Judao/Masons, using it as an excuse to use Ireland as a live munitions training ground.

And speaking of small groups of Irish rebels, this next video is cool, I heard this song on Mark From Michigans podcast, it’s all about an American firearm called the Armalite, apparently a favourite of Irish resistance fighters, I’m not partisan, I beleive both sides are dupes of a Judao/Masonic divide and conquer strategy…pity. Enjoy the song !

For all you American fraccers out there, July 19th is National Ice Cream Day! Celebrated on the third Sunday of every July by order of President Ronald Reagan in 1984, if you’ve never celebrated it before, hopefully I’ve managed to tip you off in the lick of time!

Now although fracas is a fairly intolerant (in a lactose digesting kind of way) gal, I have decided to share some interesting and useful ice cream tidbits with you, and you know… I may even choose to live dangerously and imbibe.

That’s how much I love my American fraccers!

Enjoy the links, cartoon and most of all… head out to your favorite ice cream stand or pick up a tub of your favorite from the grocery store and live out your midsummer night’s cream!

smack dab in the middle of ice cream month, three ice cream holidays in one week gets to be quite filling. with peach ice cream day falling just two days before, and preparing for the birthday of the ice cream cone four days later, national ice cream day lost a bit of its appeal.

we still made a valiant effort- went to the store, twittered our indecisiveness, and bought a carton or two. pretty sure that’s good enough.

President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream month in 1984. The official day is the 3rd Sunday in July-(so we need to begin preparations now for July 19.)

When the first world war broke out in Europe, India as a whole stood up for the support of the Briti

When the first world war broke out in Europe, India as a whole stood up for the support of the British empire which ruled them for the past two centuries with the hope that this effort will open the eyes of the British rulers and will further help its struggle in attaining independence. This thought was further fortified with the declaration by the Secretary of State for India Mr. E S Montagu in August 1917of full responsible government to India within the British empire by a gradual transference of power to popular control and a larger association of Indians in the administration of the country, reserved to the British parliament the right of determining the pace of progress towards full responsible government. There after on July 8, 1918, Mr.Montagu and Viceroy, Lord Chelmsford issued their report [called Montagu-Chelmsford report] on constitutional reform.

By 1918, war had been passing through a phase most threatening to the Allies and big German offessive was in full progress. To secure greater support of India, Prime minister of Britain Mr. Lloyd George sent a message to India reminding her of the cause effect of German victory in Europe and harmful reverberations in the eastern world. Lloyd George in his letter asked “every lover of freedom and law” to play his or her part in preventing the menace of German evil spreading to east and gradually engulfing the world. Viceroy, Chelmford, in return to this request by the prime minister assured “fullest effort and fullest sacrifice to safegaurd the soil of the motherland”. This was followed by a war conference in Delhi on April 27, 1918, at which King Emperor’s message declared that “the need of the Empire is India’s oppurtunity”.

Mahatma Gandhi joined the war conference in Delhi and fully supported it in the hope of better future of his motherland. As a result, contributions from India begin to rise and in total, 9,85,000 men participated in the first world war from India.

While Indians believed in the message of “the need of the Empire is India’s oppurtunity”, the British volte faced on it as war came to an end. India was shocked to see internment of Mrs. Besant and large number of its citizens being jailed under Defence of India act without any trial. This awakened the country from her deep slumber of giving tacit agreement in passing that act. To top all these a report by Sir Sidney Rowlatt was published which dealt with meeting the increasing momentum of revelutionary force in India. The report published in July 19, 1918, further enhanced the power of Defence of India Act.

The people of India rise as a whole nation to the aggressive style of British rule as the government forced a Rowlatt bill into law with further enhancement of Defence of India Act and was viewed as an encroachment on to the civil rights of Indians. Leading the Indians were the greatest of the great leader, Mahatma Gandhi.

Gandhi in protest against the British government’s ennactment of Rowlatt law declared his intention of leading a Satyagraha campaign. On March 23, 1918, Gandhi issued a manifesto fixing the 6th of April for the observance of an All-India Hartal and as a day of fasting, prayer and penance. Hartal was observed in the whole part of the country with very few skirmishes. Hartal was observed in Delhi in March 30th due to some misinformation. There was some disturbance in Delhi railway station on the day of the hartal and riots broke out. Mahatma Gandhi on his way to Delhi to restore peace and normalcy was arrested in midway and was taken to Bomby in a special train.

Mean while in Punjab where leaders Kitchlew and Satyapal were deported for their supposedly anti-government activities. General of the Punjab at that time was Sir Michael Dyer. On the 13th April, a meeting was advertised to be held at Jallianwallah Bagh. General Dyer had prohibited any meeting to be conducted. On hearing about the meeting in Jallianwallah Bagh, he proceeded to the spot with his tropps and machine guns. A lot of people were congregated in the ground of Jallianwallah Bagh as it was an important Hindu festival day. Within 15 minutes of his arrival, General Dyer ordered his troops to fire at the throng without any provocation. What followed was carnage. About 5 to 6 hundred people died and about 1500 were injured in that gruesome act of animism. Soon after the firing at Jallianwallah Bagh, Martial law was enforced throughout the country to prohibit further sprouting of disturbance. Many leaders were arrested, including Mahatma Gandhi.

No news of Jallianwallah Bagh was spread as a result of the strict censorship which followed on account of Martial law. But, as time passed and marshial law was lifted, news began to leak out and caused widespread anger in the country against this incident and against Sir Michael Dyer.

British-India government appointed a committee of enquiry to look into the matter of shooting at Jallianwallah Bagh after persistent request from all over the country. The committe was headed by Lord Hunter. Even before the committee began its labours, government passed an Indemnity Act to protect its officers from any ruling of the committee. There was widespread opposition to this Indemnity act, even from within the committee. The committee filed its report on March 26th, 1920. The recommendations in the fnal report were too lenient as far Indians were concerned. What followed it was the famous non-cooperation movement, again led by the charismatic son of India – Mahatma Gandhi.

Mon Jul 28, 2008 2:36pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that Iran will seek “common ground” with the United States and five other world powers that have proposed incentives for Tehran to freeze its nuclear enrichment program.

NBC News, which interviewed Ahmadinejad in Iran, also said the leader of the world’s fourth-largest crude oil producer believes the oil market is overvalued in part because of manipulation.

Speaking less than a week before a deadline for Iran’s reply to the incentives package, Ahmadinejad told the U.S. television network that progress toward agreement with the West would depend on the sincerity of a shift in the U.S. approach to Tehran.

Western officials said after a meeting with Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator in Geneva on July 19 that Tehran had two weeks to reply to an offer of a halt to new steps toward more U.N. sanctions if Iran froze the expansion of its nuclear program. That would give Iran until Saturday to reply.

“They submitted a package and we responded by submitting our own package,” Ahmadinejad said through an interpreter in an excerpt of the NBC interview aired on Monday.

“It’s very natural. In the first steps, we are going to negotiate over the common ground as they exist inside the two packages. If the two parties succeed in agreeing over the common ground, that will help us to work on our differences as well, to reach an agreement.”

U.S. State Department spokesman Gonzalo Gallegos called Ahmedinejad’s comments “rhetoric and more rhetoric” and saying the State Department wanted a definitive response from Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, the West’s designated negotiator.

“We are waiting for a definitive statement, Gallegos said. “We have stated clearly that it should come through the normal channel, which is Jalili to Solana, and the clock on the two weeks is ticking.”

NBC also said Ahmadinejad denied Iran was working to produce a bomb, paraphrasing him as saying nuclear weapons are outdated.

Iran has so far ruled out a freeze to start preliminary talks or suspension of enrichment to start formal negotiations on the incentives package proposed by the six powers — the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany.

In a policy shift, a U.S. diplomat attended the Geneva talks, which Iran has characterized as a success for Iran.

On Monday, Ahmadinejad told NBC: “The main question here is whether this approach is a continuation of the old approach or is it a totally new approach.

“If this is the continuation of the old process, the Iranian people need to defend their right, its interests as well,” he said. “But if the approach changes, we will be facing a new situation and the response by the Iranian people will be a positive one.”

The United States has warned Iran that it will face more sanctions if it fails to meet the deadline. Washington has not ruled out military action if diplomacy fails.

Asked if Iran would agree to suspend uranium enrichment in order to gain international acceptance, Ahmadinejad said Iran already enjoys “very good economic and cultural relations with countries around the world.”

“For the continuation of our lives and for progress, we do not need the services, if I can use the word, of a few countries,” he said.

Ahmadinejad announced during the weekend that Iran had more than 5,000 active centrifuges for enriching uranium, which suggested a rapid expansion of the nuclear work that the West suspects is aimed at making bombs.

Earlier this month, Iran rattled international markets by test-firing a series of missiles.

This weekend 4 of us went out to shoot Polina and Taras’s wedding. Polina and Taras are a very cool Russian couple that we had the pleasure of working with this past weekend.

The day started off with me dropping Prashanna off at Harbourfront, DT Toronto, to shoot an engagement walk with Annie and Oneil, who are getting married in 2 weekends from now. From there, I drove up the street to the Westin Harbour Castle to meet up with the Frame of Mind Photography guys and the Bride.

As usual, I was shooting the HDV format with my Sony FX1 and Prashanna was armed with his XH-A1. Prashanna actually finished the engagement shoot and walked back to the hotel before the bride was even ready for us to start, so we ended up with alot of coverage of Polina getting ready.

We got to the church and did the detail shots inside and out and while I miked the groom. The Frame of Mind guys shot stills of the decor and guests getting seated while we took some really nice footage using the tripod and Glidecam 4000.

As the ceremony ended, the rain started. The plan was to go to the Guildwood in Scarborough. If you haven’t been to the Guildwood, it is an amazing place with a lot of stone structures and very geometrical shapes to shoot with. Almost like shooting architecture and live subjects at the same time. The only problem is that when it rains, the whole place is wide open. Anyways, we were on the brink of going to the Tannery Mall but the bride said that she put in request with “the Man upstairs” and she was sure that it was going to be fine. Well, sure enough we drove through the storm (and yes…it stormed), to the Guildwood where it hadn’t had a single drop of rain. We had a lot of fun there, shot with 2 cameras (we had to bring the Glidecam back out for this place), and just as we said it’s time to pack up and got in the cars…the rain came. Talk about timing.

We finished our day at Russian Nights in Thornhill. Cool little spot that holds about 100 people. The food was great and the entertainment was really good. There was a cover band and these 3 Russian dancers that entertained the guests throughout the night. With a small lighting kit we were able light the place very nicely for speeches and some of the entertainment. We did a Speakers Corner outside using a wireless handheld mic, which let’s us hear the person speaking extremely clearly while providing just enough ambient sound so that you know there’s a party going on (sounds natural).

The night ended at about 12:30a and we hit the road, ready to do it again next weekend.

We are all sad that our visit to the Galapagos Islands is over! Each of us came away with wonderful

We are all sad that our visit to the Galapagos Islands is over! Each of us came away with wonderful experiences: seeing wonderful animals, snorkeling, swimming with penguins and seals, walking around the Pacific Ocean on huge lava rock hills and meeting two wonderful guides – Valerio and David.
Today began with a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Center. We saw some amazing tortoises and had our group picture of the day taken among them. Valerio was able to mesmerize one of the tortoises so he stood high up from the ground and extended his neck. It was quite a site to see. Finches and tortoises has a symbiotic relationship where the finch helps the tortoise get rid of the bugs on its body. Somehow the finch knows exactly when the tortoise needs its help. The finch is able to read the body language of the tortoise!

We finally saw LONESOME GEORGE. Actually, he wasn’t so lonesome today, as he had a female friend visiting him! Lonesome George was quite excited at the site of her and stood up on his four legs and extended his neck. This is quite feat for somebody closing in on 100 years old. Apparently, visitors to the Research Center DON’T often see Lonesome George in this state!

We then took a bus ride to walk in some LAVA TUNNELS. Lava tunnels are formed when lava flows and the outer part of the lava stream gets cold and hardens. However, the liquid magma that is inside, continues to flow and this leaves empty “lava tubes” behind. Santa Cruz Island is filled with lava tunnels that were formed after many eruptions over a million years ago.

We then took a ferry to Baltra Island where we cheered to the 5th and final People to People delegation that was coming to the Galapagos. As we departed the boat we told the leaders and students what an amazing experience they were going to have, as we knew that they would love seeing the frigate, blue-footed booby, seals, sea lions, lizards and marine and land iguanas.

Our flight to Quito was 3 hours late, so we spent quite awhile at the airport. It was quite relaxing waiting for the plane to arrive, as the airport is “open-air” and the students were able to sit in the sun, shop, play soccer, read, eat and talk as we waiting for our flight.

After arriving in Quito we went to dinner – which was paella and a passion fruit custard. Our big food discovery was “apple soda.” It is quite refreshing and many of us are wondering if it can be purchased in the United States.

Another great day in Ecuador!

Be sure to check out the Flickr’ photos!
