The “Style Icon Awards” took place on November 11, at Namsan Seoul Tower Special Air Dome and the celebrities graced the ceremony with their holy presence and some questionable attire (Suh In-young anyone?) .The voluptuous Kim Hye-soo was awarded the “Icon of the Year” award. Woman knows how to flaunt what her mama gave her!

Fierce fashion idols 2ne1 won the female singer awards! The MCs for the event was Suh In-young and Baek Ji-yeon. Now you’ll be the judge, who is in and who is out?

Of course the Style’s  “edgy” Park Gi Ja is the icon of the year

“2009 Style Icon Awards” brought together by Cyon and New Chocolate is held on November 11 evening at Namsan N Seoul Tower Special Air Dome. Kim Hye Soo who received great love for her character at drama “Style” walked away with the “Icon of the Year” award.

The MCs of the awards ceremony are broadcaster Baek Ji Yeon, actress Park Si Yeon and singer Seo In Young.

Alguns dos rostos mais famosos do “celulóide” sul-coreano entraram nessa surpreendente campanha chamada “Good Downloader Campaign“, na que não pedem ao público que não baixe, mas sim que baixe com moderação.

The Italian director Sergio Leone, best known for ‘Spaghetti Westerns’ such as A Fistful of Dollars and Once Upon a Time in the West, has inspired many directors to pay homage to his highly kinetic style of filmmaking. Some of these directors have included Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Sam Raimi, Shane Meadows and Tsui Hark. Now the South Korean director Kim Ji-woon (A Bittersweet Life, A Tale of Two Sisters) has paid tribute with The Good, the Bad, the Weird, a film that obviously derives it title from Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Kim’s film is one of the most successful films to capture the spirit of Leone’s cinema and it is also one of the most enjoyable.

As with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, in The Good, the Bad, the Weird there are three protagonists all after the same goal – buried treasure hidden in the Manchurian desert. Set in the 1930s shortly after Manchuria was occupied by Japan, the trio not only have to contend with each other and their respective cohorts but there are also a gang of bandits and the Imperial Japanese Army who are after the treasure too.

From the exhilarating train hijacking at the start of the film right through to the all out horse/motorbike/car chase across the desert before the final showdown, The Good, the Bad, the Weird is a cinematic rush of adrenalin. Kim beautifully replicates Leone’s aesthetics of contrasting extreme close-ups with wide shots, depicting violence in a way that is both brutal and poetic, and establishing an overall tone that is frequently funny and self-conscious without ever being camp. As well as taking inspiration from various Leone films, Kim has also borrowed a few ideas here and there from Mad Max 2 and to a lesser degree Raiders of the Lost Arc. While contemporary action films are increasingly becoming a blur of quick edits, Kim has the confidence and logistical skills to set up complex action sequences and then film them in continuous shots. The Good, the Bad, the Weird is a very technical and modern film but it is also a return to the old-school discipline of simply presenting movement on screen in the most exciting way possible.

For an action film, this Korean western is quite a labyrinth. With the basic plot involving a precious map and a crafty double cross delivered rapidly in the first minute, you”ll need to pay close attention. Even after this, as it transforms into a a colourful and energetic explosion of fighting, running, and John Woo style face-offs, you’ll need to stay focussed to avoid obfuscation.

The ‘Bad’ takes the form of devious and handsome Park Chang-Yi (Lee Byung-hun), a Yakuza style hitman who is paid to retrieve a precious map from a passenger on board a train. The plan goes awry when a thieving bandit already on board the locomotive, engages in a random heist of the first class carriage and ends up with the precious document (the ‘weird’ bandit is played by Song Kang-ho in a brilliantly wacky, but understated, performance). Things are further complicated when Park Do-Won (Jung Woo-sung), a mysterious bounty hunter, enters the scene, and pursues with single minded vigour the reward placed on the heads of both the thief and the hitman. It’s an escalating battle initially converging on the train and but which soon fans out and sweeps up other members of the manchurian bandit society and the massive colonial forces of the Imperial Japanese Army.

In order: The bad, the weird, the good.

Over the last couple of decades Korean film has become one of the most rejuvenating areas for cinema, and has had some notable success breaking through to western audiences. The Host, a monster disaster movie both funny and frightening, and Old Boy, which blended a David Fincher atmosphere with traditional martial arts, are two examples but there are plenty more. We recently reviewed Korean director Pil-Sung Yim’s take on Hans Christian Anderson’s classic tale Hansel & Gretel and were impressed beyond measure. The wide range of films emanating from just south of the axis of evil have utilised an informed Hollywood sensibility, but have always moved beyond this base by adding distinctly off-beat elements.

Korean cinema: Taking Hollywood and running with it.

TGTBATW is a playful and slightly exhausting cat mouse and game between three well matched foes, who exist in a celluloid netherworld halfway been Hollywood cowboys and Asian gangsters – ‘Kimchi’ land. Enthralling and insanely fun if your in the mood for the ride, irritating and pointless if you’re not. I was reluctantly in the latter camp, but I don’t like too much noise and have never been into westerns (though like the idea of them, and I really need to see The Searchers). With an impotent level of interest, I kept vagueing out and consequently found it a little hard to follow – which is testament to the knotty nature of the plot, which demands you don’t miss a beat.

Luckily there is much to enjoy beyond the relentless action. Fantastical sets, amazingly lively and creative photography, and well delivered performances from a distinct bunch of misfits, makes this a unique and vivid mashup of the spaghetti western genre, transposed to 1930s Manchuria. There’s even a little Mad Max in there, as the motorcycle riding thief is chased across an endless desert, pursued by a ragtag collection of criminals on horseback. The twisting of Director Kim Jee-woon tangled and tighlty scripted plot, brings to mind the elements which make so enjoyable the work of his Hong Kong counterpart, Johnnie To. It looks like it was a lot of fun to make, and a behind the scenes extra at how they captured the chaos would be fascinating. There’s definitely a lot of talent behind the project.

While modern action films from USA, such as Transformers 2 and Disney’s tedious pirate films, seem to have left individuality and characters behind for head-in-a-vice-grip battle scenes and safe, predictable choices, Korea continues to invent and suprise. With a local box office that has American films playing second fiddle to local acts, Australia really should try and emulate the success of the South Korean model. Though it probably doesn’t help that most Australians speak American.

bu bugünkü 2. postum.. fakat ilki sizin için oldukça gereksiz olduğundan bir de çok sevdiğim bir filmden bahsetmek istedim.. daisy’yi izleyeli çok oldu aslında.. fakat bayramın 2. günü sitelerde dolaşırken bir de yönetmenin kendi versiyonu olduğunu gördüm.. filmi çok ama çok beğendiğim, hatta en sevdiğim filmlerden biri olduğu için farklı versiyonunu da izlemem gerektiğini düşündüm.. ve başladım izlemeye fakat orijinalinden oldukça farklı bir filmle karşılaştım.. bir çok açıdan hem aynı hem de farklı bir filmdi.. iyi ki ikisini de izlemişim.. ikisini de çok beğendim fakat önce normalini sonra yönetmen versiyonunu izleyin bana kalırsa keyfi daha güzel çıkar..nasıl anlatacağımı bilemiyorum aslında..anlatması biraz karışık… esas kızızmız bir ressam -yukarıda ki resimde elinde tuttuğu tablodan da anlayabileceğiniz gibi..- adı Hye Young(Jeon Ji Hyun).. ve bu kıza aşık olan iki kişi var.. biri her filmde benim favorim olan Park Yi(Jung Woo Sung).. kendisi üstteki resimde en solda önünde papatya saksısıyla çömelmiş halde üzgün bakan adam oluyor.. ne yazık ki profesyonel bir tetikçi.. elalemin çinlileri adına adam öldürüyor-çok lazımmış gibi-.. ama tüm bu kötü özelliklerine rağmen bize kendini en çok sevdiren o.. nedenini yazımın devamında öğrenebilirsiniz.. ve bir diğer adam da sağdn ikinci sırada duran Jeong Woo(Lee Sung Jae) o da filmde ki iyi ama gereksiz adam-bana göre- bir interpol çalışanı..

şimdi kim kimmiş öğrendiğimize göre isimleriyle konuyu anlatmaya başalyabilirim, zira öteki türlü benim bile yazarken kafam karışıyor..

Park Yi ilk kez bir adam öldürdüğü gün Hye Young’u görür.. ve onun saf ve temiz ruhuna -e tabi bir de o güzelliğine- hayran olur ve ona aşık olur.. fakat yaptığı işin kötülüğünü ona da bulaştırmamk için hiç yanına yaklaşmaz ve onu sadece uzaktan izlemekle yetinir..Hye Young resim yapmak için gittiği bir bahçede dereyi aşmak için bir ağaç gövdesinden geçerken suya düşer.. bir kaç gün sonra geldiğinde ise derenin üzerine küçük bir köprü yapıldığını ve akıntıya kapılan çantasının da köprünün kenarına asıldığını görür ve köprünün kendisi için yapıldığını anlar, teşekkür etmek için bir resim yaparak köprünün üstüne bırakır.. bu günden sonra Park Yi hergün saat 4.15′te Hye Young’un işyerine bir saksı papatya gönderir.. Hye Young hergün gelmeye devam eden bu papatyaların sahibini çok merak eder fakat tek bir gün bile onu yakalayamaz..

Hye Young hafta sonları yaptığı sokak ressamlığı sırasında, bir görev için o meydanda durmak zorunda olan polis Jeong Woo, tesadüfen elinde tuttuğu bir saksı paptya ile Hye Young’un yanına gelir ve resmini yaptırmak ister.. Jeong Woo’nun papatyaları gönderen adam olduğunu düşünen Hye Young kısa zamanda ona aşık olur.. Tabi bunu göresnPark Yi-ciğim:)- çok üzülür.. fakat bu adamın bir polis olduğunu öğrenince aralarına girmek istemez..

zamanla HyeYoung ve Jeong Woo çıkmaya başlarlar fakat bir gün meydanda durdukları bir sırada çıkan çatışma yüzünden ikiside yaralanır, Hye Young bu yüzden sesini kaybeder.. Jeong woo ise hafif yaralanmasına karşın kendini suçlu hissettiğinden Hye Young’u görmeye gelemez..

çok zor günler geçiren Hye Young’u izlemeye devam eden Park Yi onun bu üzgün haline dayanamaz ve sonunda karşısına çıkar.. fakat Hye Young papatyaların asıl sahibinin o olduğunu hala bilmemekte ve Jeong Woo’ya olan aşkı ne yazık ki devam etmektedir.. 

işte film böyle bir havada devam eder içinde çok güzel küçücük, minicik ayrıntılar saklayan.. görselliği ile izleyicileri büyüleyen ve en çok da insanı hala böyle aşkların olduğuna inandırmaya çalışmasıyla gönülleri mest eden harika bir film.. mutlaka izlemelisiniz derim.. hatta dedim bile:)

PS: ayrıca filmin müzkleri de harika. yakın zamanda en sonunda çalan şarkıyı paylaşmak istiyorum.. ama bugün çok yoruldum o yüzden imzayı atıp 23.00 gibi erken bir saatte yatmaya gidicem..
