Udało mi się zdobyć dla Was opinie trzech jurorów mFestiwalu. W ciągu dzisiejszego dnia będę je sukcesywnie publikowała.  Na pierwszy ogień idzie Artur Klonowski – art director z wieloletnim doświadczeniem w branży reklamowej.  Wszyscy co dziennie oglądaliśmy jego dzieło czyli oprawę graficzną strony mFestiwal.pl. Mój rozmówca projektował zarówno serwis mFestiwal 2009, jak i stronę ubiegłorocznej edycji konkursu.  Artur to konkretny facet i takie też są jego odpowiedzi ;-)  Sprawdźcie sami!

Wanda:  Arturze, zdradź nam które filmy są Twoimi osobistymi faworytami?

Artur:  Jest kilka ciekawych propozycji, ale wymienię trzy które najbardziej zapadły mi w pamięć:  jerzu – niezwykły – poziom abstrakcji jest dla mnie odpowiedni Zadyma konkretna, ale nie dusząca. Reklama powinna  intrygować i wciągać nie poprzez usilną kontrowersyjność, ale przez dobry pomysł. Tutaj ten nietuzinkowy pomysł jest i za to wielki szacun ludzi reklamy;  wiolka – tancerz – fabuła okołoweselna trochę jak w filmach ze „Śmiechu Warte” , ale tancerz mnie rozwalił. Mam nadzieję, że film nie jest z cyklu „Prawdziwe historie” Ważne, że jest tu oryginalny pomysł. Można przyciąć do telewizyjnej 15-sekundówki i też będzie ok. Brawo!  Evil_Cock – inwestujemy w każdego – Szkoda było zapewne wgnieść zderzak pięknego BMW, ale reklama to sztuka sugestii, potrafię sobie wyobrazić zakończenie i podkład muzyczny też jest odpowiedni. Cały film się ładnie klei i wszystko do siebie pasuje. Operatorka jak w profesjonalnym spocie. Nic dodać, nic ująć. Bardzo dobry materiał.

Wanda:   Muszę przyznać, że Evil_Cock również mnie ujął swoim poczuciem humoru! Podskórnie czuję, że w jego twórczości znalazłoby się też miejsce dla mnie, ale dosyć prywaty!  A jak znajdujesz tegoroczne animacje – słyszałam opinie, że to najsłabsza kategoria?

Artur:   Animacja to trudna sztuka – jak się nie ma warsztatu, to nawet dobry pomysł może wypaść słabo. Myślę jednak, że w końcówce konkursu uczestnicy zgłosili kilka interesujących propozycji. W czołówce wyróżnia się PiotrekArt – narodziny pieniądza – fabuła jest oczywista i mocno wyeksploatowana, ale podoba mi się wykonanie. Wygląda mi to na animację poklatkową, dobry, tradycyjny warsztat, a w czasach dominacji flasha i 3d jeszcze bardziej zyskuje na wartości, calości dopelnia dobrze dobrana muzyka. Duży plus!  Z prac, których nie ma w TOP20 chciałbym zwrócić uwagę na dwie animacje: ciasteczko – najlepsze rozwiązanie – kłaczek, kudełek… już się bałem, że to wypadło z kota, ale rozbawiło mnie do łez. Mogę powiedzieć, że ta animacja powala swą prostotą. Po prostu świetny pomysł, dynamiczna realizacja. Nic dodać, nic ująć. Super! oraz liart – Zero Złotych – krótko, zwięźle i treściwie. Bezwzględne zero złotych, taki Brudny Harry wśród zer. Wszyscy lubimy superbohaterów i pogromców zerowych oszustów.

Wanda:  Hmm, trochę mnie zaskoczyły Twoje typy!  Myślałam, że wymienisz np. BartMikoCom - Nie wierzysz? sprawdz sam - wielu obserwatorów typuje go do zwycięstwa ze względu na profesjonalny warsztat.

Artur:  Fakt, warsztatowo praca ta wyróżnia się, ale na takich konkursach jak mFestiwal ważniejszy jest chyba świeży, oryginalny pomysł, który zjedna sobie publiczność. 

Wanda:  No dobrze, zostały nam jeszcze billboardy – biorąc pod uwagę ilość zgłoszeń to była najprostsza kategoria – czy aby na pewno?

Artur:  Ilość na ogół nie idzie w jakość, choć oczywiście w tej masie zgłoszonych projektów jest kilka naprawdę świetnych prac.  Chciałbym wymienić trzy zupełnie różne billboardy, które zwróciły moją uwagę:  catdesign – mBank Billboard – Kot Przemysław – reklama jest prosta i czytelna i taka ma być na billboardzie. Mnie przekonuje, aż chce się sprawdzić   carlo – zebrowe opłaty – oryginalne i niezłe, z pewnością zauważalne na tle reklamowej sieczki. Ale nie chcę płacić za przechodzenie po „zebrze”   19thelement – Nie daj się ogolić – Owca powinna być bardziej przerażona Lubię takie skojarzenia. Reklama może dotyczyć dowolnego produktu bankowego więc duży plus za uniwersalność i oddaje charakter mBanku.

The basic process for eons for educating architects has relied heavily on the jury system.  About once every six weeks or so, every student is asked to pin up their work in a semi-public place and a panel of jurors, usually other instructors and architects, are each given time to comment on the work after the student’s brief description of the project.  Sometimes this can be very public and as a student you might look up to see 6 or so very dour jurors staring at you along with dozens or more of your fellow students.  To say that it can be intimidating is a gross understatement.

However, as someone who was very shy and frequently terrified by this kind of public speaking and criticism, I do believe that is one of the very best ways to educate an architect.  Through this often-fraught crucible, every student has to become sure of their ideas and committed to their projects.  It is a very real and early reminder that architecture is not a pursuit practiced only in isolation, but a public art, with all that that entails.

In undergraduate and graduate school I took part in and was a victim of an awful lot of juries.  (It is not really a ‘jury’ of your peers by the way – it is experienced instructors and architects that have been down the same path and know all the tricks to reveal you and your project’s shortcomings)

I have seen crying, screaming, panic and the occasional fist-fight break out.  I have seen instructors tell students that their work is so dreadful or incomplete that they should just pack it up right now and leave, and never, ever return.

I  mention all of this because I have heard of disturbing trend of the diminishing use of public juries to evaluate student work.  I hope I am not being an old curmudgeon, but I really do think this is a great loss.  Each year as a student the process became a little easier to the point that I looked forward to the criticism and advice in graduate school.  Now, as a working architect, I have to present my designs to my clients.  I could simply present the projects and tell them to take it or leave it.  However, the jury system has convinced me that to make really good buildings it is best to describe the projects simply and briefly and then listen.

I do not have a wish to live under fear of the Spanish Inquisition or in the era of Communist Soviet Union. You might however wonder on occasion what happened to the Democracy of the United States, particularly if you get caught up the wrong way with the law.

Here is the list:

• If you get arrested, you may be held for 24 hours without being charged. You are permitted to make only one phone call only, i.e. once your call is over you have zero contact with the world until your attorney arrives. Then of course if you can’t afford an attorney, the government will provide you with one – yeah, the one who works to satisfy his employer, the government; not you.

• If you are busted for an alleged crime, this would include busted via the use of sting operations, which means a crime would have not occur if not for the Feds placing it under your feet, your name gets plastered negatively by Federal officials who hold highly-publicized press conferences before you are convicted. If and when your name gets cleared, no media or Federal official is there to make news out of it.

• When in criminal court, your future is in the hands of a group of unemployed individuals who are so smart that they couldn’t find a way to avoid getting involved in this thing called Jury Duty, and/or your immediate future it is in the hands of a person in a black robe that can add or subtract years of misery to your life, based largely on his/her mood.

• If the government wants to fry you, they will charge you with laws that were last enforced before the 1929 Stock Market crash. In addition; for one alleged act, they will charge you under endless types of counts such as Fraud, Mail fraud, Wire fraud, Bank Fraud, False Statements to a Bank, etc, each charge thrown at you a half a dozen times or more, which in turn might land you 1,225 years in prison. Oh! And by the way: Willfully saying a lie to a Federal Agent even if you are not under oath is a felony that can land you a few more years in prison.

• For cooking your books in order to get bank loans worth less than $50 million, you might get up to 1,225 years. However, a $50 billion Ponzi scheme gets you only 150 years.

• You can be incarcerated for three years if you violate the tax return perjury status, i.e. you purposely under-report in a tax return your income. Then again, if luck is on your side, you might become America’s Treasury Secretary who oversees the IRS, or perhaps you might be one of the top tax-writing lawmakers in the country, despite the fact that you recently cheated the tax system with tens if not hundreds of thousand dollars.

• When in prison, you are the dog of the Prison Worden and correction officers who treat you as dirty scum if they want, and dump you in “the hole” for days and weeks, disregarding the fact that it might permanently affect you psychologically, yet… there is zero-to-nothing that you can do about it.

• When you are done with serving the prison sentence, you might be ordered to live for a while in a halfway-house until you get accustomed to the free life. But of course, when your sentence was handed-out, there was a big chance that you were not permitted to return to your home for even one more time, and a half-way house to “train” you how to lose your freedoms is not even an option. Instead, you get taken straight to a prison cell.

• Finally, when you are over with all the above, you are a felon for life, regardless of how small of a crime it was. It is a stain on your record that endlessly impedes on your freedom.

I certainly don’t want to get caught up in the justice system of Mexico, China, or even France for this matter, and I am truly grateful to enjoy the freedoms that we all have in the democracy of the USA. However, after taking a glimpse into the justice system of the United States, I finally understand better the quote – by Winston Churchill: “No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all wise.”

U.S. to attend conference held by war crimes court

Administration will engage with ICC but not join it, official says

For the first time in nearly eight years, the United States will participate in a conference with members of the International Criminal Court, a decision that signals growing U.S. support for a war crimes tribunal the Bush administration once shunned.

Stephen J. Rapp, the U.S. ambassador at large for war crimes, told reporters in Nairobi on Monday that the “United States will return to engagement with the ICC.” But he said that the United States has no intention of joining the court in the forseeable future and that it will not allow an international prosecutor to try American personnel.

Still, the decision marked a significant step by the Obama administration in showing its willingness to engage with the rest of the world on difficult negotiations, according to court supporters. Rapp and the State Department’s top legal adviser, Harold Koh, will lead a U.S. delegation of observers to the Assembly of States Parties meeting in The Hague starting Wednesday and running through Nov. 26. The United States will also attend a major treaty review conference in Kampala, Uganda, in late May and early June.

The world’s first international criminal court was established in 2001 to prosecute war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Its chief prosecutor is pursuing war crimes cases in Congo, Uganda, the Central African Republic and the Darfur region of Sudan.

Member nations are considering adding the crime of aggression — unprovoked military action by one state against another — to the court’s jurisdiction. The United States prefers that the U.N. Security Council have that authority.

Human rights advocates welcomed the U.S. decision to reengage the court but said a push for greater authority by the Security Council would dilute the power of the court. “That’s a chokehold that would undercut the court’s legitimacy,” said Richard Dicker, a court advocate at Human Rights Watch.

Although U.S. officials have come to support prosecutions of specific cases, such as in Darfur, they have long worried that an international criminal court might seek to constrain U.S. military action around the globe by carrying out politically motivated prosecutions of American soldiers. “There remain concerns about the possibility that the United States . . . and its service members might be subject to politically inspired prosecutions,” Rapp told reporters in Nairobi.

Despite such concerns, the Clinton administration signed the treaty establishing the court in Dec. 31, 2000, about two weeks before President Bill Clinton left office. The Bush administration actively sought to derail the court during its first term. In 2002, it sent a letter to the United Nations stating that the United States had no intention of joining the court and had no legal obligations to it.

UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURTS, Southern District for Alabama and Northern District for Florida served

American Grand Jury has incorporated the Fitzpatrick criminal complaint and the Nancy Pelosi criminal conspiracy complaint within its Presentments.

The American Grand Jury Criminal Presentments have now been hand-delivered by Process-Service to the Clerk of the United States District Court, Charles R. Diard Jr., Mobile, Alabama [serve affidavit by Donald Gaines] and the Clerk of the United States District Court, William M. McCool, Pensacola, Florida [serve affidavit by Norman Caron] .

The criminal charges of Eligibility Fraud and Treason (Barack Obama) and Conspiracy of Election Fraud (Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama) are now pending before these and numerous other Courts.

If acted upon, the Grand Jury Presentments would require that both Obama and Pelosi be criminally prosecuted.

American Grand Jury is actively pursuing decisions in a number of UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURTS located in multiple jurisdictions: District for Columbia, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Kansas, New York, Texas, California, Arizona, Connecticut and others.

Gesucht werden unveröffentlichte Kurzgeschichten, die das Thema “Spuren” aufgreifen und Erdachtes oder Erlebtes rund um Timmendorfer Strand oder Niendorf/Ostsee wiedergeben. Der Phantasie sind keine Grenzen gesetzt: Alles ist möglich.

Alle deutschsprachigen Geschichten sind willkommen – egal aus welchem Teil der Welt. Zugelassen sind alle Autorinnen und Autoren nach folgenden Ausschreibungsbedingungen:

• Es sind lediglich Kurzgeschichten einzusenden, keine Gedichte, Romane, Drehbücher oder Ähnliches.
• Das Manuskript sollte nicht mehr als drei getippte DIN-A4-Seiten umfassen.
• Das Manuskript bitte als Papiervorlage in zweifacher Ausfertigung einsenden. Es sollte mit Schreibmaschine oder Computer getippt sein
• (Schrifttyp Arial, Schriftgröße 12, 1,5-facher Zeilenabstand) und einen Seitenrand von 2 cm einhalten.
• Handschriftliche Manuskripte können leider nicht angenommen werden.
• Dem Manuskript ist eine Kurzbiographie von maximal 5 Zeilen beizufügen.

The charge of “Treason” filed against President Obama in US District Court, Washington (09-346-RCL)

PRESS RELEASE: November 17th, 2009 by American Grand Jury

Lt. Commander Walter Fitzpatrick III levels charge in an effort to avert what he described as a pending civil war.

American Grand Jury has incorporated the Fitzpatrick criminal complaint within its Presentments. The Presentments were served on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia on July 2nd, 2009. The Presentments are still pending before Chief Judge Royce Lamberth. Two Orders, a Motion to Reconsider, and a Response have been issued. The American Grand Jury Response to the Court’s 2nd Order was filed in late October. The Response is currently pending before the Court.

If acted upon, the Grand Jury Presentments would require that Obama be criminally indicted for fraud as to “Eligibility” and “Treason” per the Fitzpatrick complaint.

American Grand Jury is actively pursuing the serving of Presentments in a number of United States District Courts in different States.

PLOT SUMMARY & REVIEW: 16 year old Steve Harmon is on trial for felony murder. He is accused of taking part in a convenience store robbery where the shop owner is shot and killed. Steve Harmon is accused of being the “look out” during the robbery. James King, the accused shooter during the robbery, is also on trial. Both boys are represented by separate lawyers.

Steve decides to write a movie script about his time in jail and his time during the trial. He writes his thoughts and reflections on notebook paper in journal format and records the actual events of the trial in movie scene format. Steve’s love for movie scripts has been nurtured through his high school education so it is only natural for this teenager to express his emotions in such as format. Monster shifts back and forth between Steve’s loneliness in jail and the tension in the courtroom. In jail, Steve is left with his own thoughts about himself. He is left to reflect on how others view him. The prosecutor has labeled him a monster, his father looks at him in a different light, and Steve questions if his lawyer views him as guilty or not.

Many of the witnesses that testify against Steve are jail inmates themselves that have motives for their testimonies. This plays in favor for Steve. Steve’s lawyer tries her best to distance Steve from the other accused (James King, the shooter). Steve’s lawyer feels that if the jury can see a difference between Steve and James, then possibly the jury will see Steve as the good one of the two.

In the end, the jury finds James King guilty and Steve Harmon not guilty. When Steve turns to hug his lawyer in appreciation, his lawyer stiffens and turns away.

Monster is a creative example of the inner-workings of the mind of an accused teenager. Is Steve Harmon truly a monster or a victim of circumstance?

I would recommend that this book be read and studied as a group. The organization (movie script format) may be confusing for some. It is a good story that can generate discussion on a number of current topics.

Wij van Illustratie hebben er een filmpje van gemaakt en zijn zeer content met het resultaat !

Nur ein kleiner Kommentar:

Ich frage mich wer bei dieser Show wirklich das Super Talent ist.
Es sind für mich weder die Kandidaten, die Jury, die Kommentatoren und auch nicht das Publikum. Auch die Leute hinter der Bühne erhalten keine Achtung von mir. Schlechte Auswahl der Kandidaten, schlechte Kameraführung, immer die gleichen Storys über die vermeintlichen Super Talente. Ganz schlecht ebenso der Publikums – Animateur, den man ständig, ebend auch wegen der schlechten Kameraführung, im Hintergrund sieht.
Schade das sich diese Sendung immer noch so gut hält und schade das RTL mit einer solchen Sendung soviele Zuschauer erreicht.

Over the course of my life I’ve seen several murders. Some in person, some on television. It takes you a while to get over each of them but eventually if you want your life to go on you have to.

Then of course you think about the murderers. Was it an accident? Did they plan it? If they did plan it you try to comprehend, try to understand; but you can’t. They go to jail, there’s a trial and jury and then a decision.

What gives us the right to put someone to death legally or illegally? Taking that “wrong” life doesn’t justify the “good” one that was taken, in my opinion. It’s sad but it’s true, the person that was murdered is gone and they aren’t coming back. The only person who has a right to take a life is God, the spirit that put them on this earth in the first place.

Me personally I don’t think any human life has the right to take another human life. An eye for an eye, that saying is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard in my life but some states live by it by implementing the death penalty.

What brought all of this up was an episode of Oprah where two adults and their aunt confront the uncle that killed their parents and that uncle’s wife. The man in question will be executed in the state of Indiana in December. What can you say to him? They said they forgave him. They are bigger people than me because I’m not sure if I could’ve done that. But you kind of have to in order to go on with your life. Or else your anger eats you alive and starts to affect everything in your life.

I don’t know..just some thoughts…

So I have been following this Anthony Sowell case on twitter since I first heard about it. And to think this type of amorality exists is really appalling, especially since I have been to Cleveland many times. But what I find more disturbing than the black serial killer himself (we all know the majority of serial killers in America are white) I was surprised that in a society that is hyper-sensitive to death threats and maintaining the law insomuch that security guards at the airport had to check my ponytail for potential bombs and bike riders get d.u.i.’s, that the report of all of these missing women went unchecked for such a long time with so much evidence mounting on this guy.

Then I realized why.

Oh, it is because it was poor black families reporting that their black daughters were missing. Throw in the fact that a possible black rapist lives a block away and you exponentially raise the apathy. The cops just don’t care.

They have identified seven victims so far out of the 11 and ALL of them are black.

3. Tishana Culver

4. Nancy Cobbs

5. Amelda Hunter

6. Chrystal Dozier

7. Michelle Mason

I assume the same process occurs when a resume of someone named Shawneequa (my mother’s name) passes an interviewer’s desk. She gets passed right over, just like Tonia, Telacia, and Tishana did.

Nevermind that the stench of rotting flesh that every one complained about is completely distinct from the smell of the sausage factory down the street. Nevermind that a known sex offender lived a block away from these women. Nevermind that people actually witnessed a naked woman being thrown from the window. Just let the niggers rot!

Are we still living in the A Time to Kill moment where for a jury to sympathize with a black victim we have to close our eyes and pretend she is white for anyone to give a flying fuck? People are pointing at the police and stating they didn’t do their job but they are forgetting to ask why they didn’t do their job…because nobody cares about those black broads, just another crack whore off the street.

imagine she is being raped-we don't care. imagine she is being beaten-we dont care. imagine she is being beaten and raped but she is WHITE. ok now i guess we care. that really *is* appalling!!!

I’m sure the detectives weren’t being told that they had by 5 pm to interview everyone associated with Tishana because she was black and hence, doesn’t matter.

This whole situation reminds me of what Eartha Kitt’s character says in Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam. For those who don’t know Summer of Sam details how the Son of Sam affected the the city of New York with his numerous murders of women. I love this film and the dystopic landscape it is set agaisnt but I digress. In the film Spike Lee as a newscaster goes to Harlem to get the “darker perspective.” Eartha Kitt states that she “thanks God that it is a white man killing all of those white girls, because if it were a black man killing all those white girls there would be the biggest race riot New York City had ever seen.”

And after reading about this case I am inclined to agree. I hope I don’t get kidnapped by a black serial killer, god forbid. Cuz now I know the only way anyone would do anything is if there is some white girl trapped in there with me. Sigh.
