I went to my first ballet class last night (well the first time I have been in a very long while) and I LOVED it! It’s so good to be dancing again, I am totally hooked. Although my legs are sore I shall be there next week and the week after and the week after that. If you haven’t been dancing in a while either- get to an open class- you will have oodles of fun!

Jeez people. I wish that time went by faster. Kind of. I do because it’d be nice to have my check on Friday. But then also, I want it now. Like… I want them to print it out and give it to me today. Before I go to sleep. Oh wait, I COULD’VE done it with direct deposit but that no longer works for me. =/. Oh well. Life goes on. I’m gonna have to get by with what money I have right now. Blah it sucks but oh well. Life goes on right? Anyways, I downloaded this app onto my phone called BudgetDroid which should be helping me out with Budgeting. I set Josh and I on a $600 spending limit a month, and that includes bills, food AND gas. I don’t know how we’re gonna manage but i’m sure that everything will be okay. =]. I still have faith.

I’m thinking about moonlighting at places. I would really like to. But i’m a very shy person. I don’t do well in front of audiences. I guess I need to work on that if I’m gonna become a famous singer. I wish I had all the confidence in the world but I don’t. I’m getting better at it though. It’s just a matter of me thinking about how people are going to perceive my songs and whether they’ll like them or not. It’s just me being very unconfident. lol. But honestly, I think that people are gonna like them. They are great songs with great messages. I think I write smartly. One thing I would like to know how to do though is record songs on my macbook. Like I know that I have garageband on it, but I don’t really know how to use it. I want to be able to make like a r&b or pop beat/song on garageband. It’d be really cool to create my own music and songs. Like I love my guitar and the acoustic sound, but what I really want is to create pop music. Songs that people can relate to and have fun with. To sing while they’re driving down hollywood blvd while the top is down. Songs people can dance to, get crunk to, get emo to, just everything.

I’m currently trying to write a song about Lady Gaga. Well not really about her, more than just to her. It’s called, “Make Me Famous” I think. I’m gonna see first. I need to think about it more and I want it to be my first like real single that I’m going to create. It’s gonna take a long while but thats okay. It’s gonna be my “Just Dance” or “I Kissed A Girl” or “Umbrella”. Or I hope it is. I’m very excited for it. =].

I’m also still currently working on my story. And What I think i’m gonna do is write my book according to my anniversary cd that I made for my husband. Hmmm… that sounds like a great idea…. ideas ideas….

Thanksgiving talent show. Wine. Lady Gaga. Opera. Go.

Dans notre précédent article sur les Flash Mobs, nous avions analysé la tendance comme un phénomène social « récupéré » dans des publicités. Rappelez vous ces foules dansant en rythme avec des mouvements simples et saccadés. Désormais, il semblerait bien que la mouvance se matérialise … sous la forme d’un jeu vidéo.

La console Wii va accueillir un jeu de danse qui nous fait fortement penser à notre bon vieux flash mob : mêmes mouvements, même rythmique, même philosophie de groupe.

La tendance dépasse alors le phénomène socio culturel et publicitaire, elle devient un élément physique : un produit. Nintendo aurait pu nommer ce jeu « comment se préparer à un flash mob » tant les similitudes sont frappantes. Ainsi, le milieu du jeu vidéo contribue au développement conscient ou inconscient de la mouvance (les gens peuvent danser sans connaître les flashs mobs ! Eh oui ;) ).

Au-delà de cette matérialisation, le secteur vidéo ludique démontre une nouvelle fois ses capacités à adapter les tendances réelles du marché, qu’elles soient musicales ou autres. Pour ne pas citer, Guitar Hero et Wii sports sont les exemples les plus marquants d’une société désirant s’amuser sans un apprentissage long et massif de la discipline (comparez la prise en main de guitar hero à celle d’une vraie guitare ;) ) et tout cela sans bouger de son salon.

Just Dance es un juego de UBISOFT que literalmente te pondra a bailar, no te preocupes no hay que seguir complicadas secuencias o apretar botones . . . SOLO BAILA. Aunque justamente eso es lo que le fallara al juego, ya que emular lo que hace un personaje en la pantalla, no te da ningun reto. Tu que opinas ¿lo sacas a bailar o no?

The last console exergame “harvest” of the year came out in the past couple of weeks, with EA Sports Active: More Workouts, Tony Hawk Ride, Just Dance, and Your Shape. Out of those, More Workouts is getting the most praise, with eight 5-star reviews at Amazon and even several glowing reviews from the tough crowd in the gaming press.  Just Dance, a shake-your-Wiimotes dance game, got a couple of favorable reviews on Amazon as well, although the professional gamers have yet to notice it.

Tony Hawk Ride, with its skateboard controller, was the only game to have Xbox 360 and PS3 versions in addition to Wii.  The Wii and PS3 versions got some poor reviews, but interestingly enough, several Amazon reviewers liked the 360 game very much.  Maybe some Xbox owners are starting to have an appetite for casual and fitness games.

Your Shape, the Wii fitness game featuring a camera peripheral, is not faring so well at Amazon.  A couple of buyers say it is just like My Fitness Coach, also made by Ubisoft, but with a camera tacked on.  They’re saying that if you already have My Fitness Coach (which got very good reviews) don’t bother with Your Shape.

Lastly, the ultimate challenge is finding a review of Ultimate Party Challenge, the DDR-mat Wii game that’s been out for nearly a month now.  Does it actually exist?  What if they gave a party and no one came?  Doesn’t anyone want to risk $30, or is everyone really waiting on reviews now?

Que Just Dance despierta pasiones o acumula enemigos según quien diga su opinión, es algo que no voy a poder negar, y demostrado quedó cuando os presenté el juego.

Poco a poco han ido apareciendo nuevos trailers con diferentes canciones para promocionar el juego. Para aquellos que quieran ver los vídeos, a continuación les dejo con un vídeo que recopila los 6 trailers promocionales.

Pero hoy vamos a observar un vídeo donde se nos muestra un poco de “Gameplay”. ¿Seis trailers de promoción y ninguno mostraba imágenes de como era el juego? Si os hacéis esta pregunta es que no os habéis mirado los trailers del juego, peor para aquellos con poco tiempo les resumiré que los primeros 6 vídeos nos mostraban un grupo de jóvenes en una fiesta mientras bailaban las canciones de Just Dance (los trailers me recuerdan un poco a los que se utilizaron para promocionar SingStar).

Así pues veamos un poco de “Gameplay” de Just Dance.

Ahora es el momento en el que los “Hardcore Gamers” me saltan a la yugular

Tras el vídeo, me queda una sensación un tanto agridulce. Es cierto que el vídeo nos corrobora lo que ya habíamos deducido de los trailers de promoción, diversión fácil y perfecta para fiestas con los amigos; pero por otro lado te deja con la sensación de que es el típico juego que todo el mundo quiere jugar, lo pones y tras un par de canciones ya necesitas descansar.

Yo sigo pensando que el juego puede dar mucho de sí entre los mas jóvenes, no veo a mis padres jugando a Just Dance como lo hacen con Wii Sports (que ya es un clásico); pero si que veo a un grupo de adolescentes frente al televisor, con buen ambiente en el local donde se encuentren y jugando al juego entre risas y esa estraña sensación de “¿pero que estoy haciendo?”.

Lo que está claro es que Just Dance, como ya he dicho al iniciar esté articulo, cosechará detractores o partidarios según la persona a la que llegue. Pero este tipo de juegos creo que son muy fáciles de criticar y mas difíciles de analizar sin guiarte por los prejuicios.

A partir de aquí, las opiniones serán bienvenidas

Here at the ‘April in Paris’ office we play tons of tunes. Late night Alumni is one of our favs! We love to whistle while we work. The new album just came out this month.

There is something so magical and pretty about ballet, a flawless fusion of hard work, dedication and art. I am no mover but next week I shall attempt to put my best foot forward and join a ballet class- I’ll let you know how it goes, I’m excited!

Poke her face

Lady Gaga has been called the Madonna of this generation. It is obvious that everything she does has a different edge to it. All aspects of her uniqueness from her sexuality to fashion are on the tips of everyone’s tongues. It seems that with time, Gaga continually tries to outdo herself. Now I pose this question: How far is too far?

Lady Gaga’s great fame and success began with her single “Just Dance”. Partiers, bar hoppers and the casual socialites alike gravitated toward the song. When the video was released, her unconventional approach to music was emphasized more than before.

With each new video release, Gaga continued to push the envelope and her fan base continued to grow.  Her videos have begun to tell elaborate stories while still straying from the usual. Her single, “Paparazzi” is a perfect example of how far she takes her story telling and music.

Her popularity earned her a performance opportunity on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. It goes without saying that it was the most memorable performance that year for most people—including myself.

Why she decided to go as far as she did for this performance is beyond me but it was just another step in the ladder of her success.

Finally, her latest new hit, “Bad Romance” is taking the country by storm no differently than her last songs. Her video has once again topped her last ones in the peculiar department.

The question still stands; has Lady Gaga taken her eccentricity too far?

In my opinion, her artistic abilities have yet to falter on her journey to fame and fortune. That is what’s most important to me in music these days. So many artists seems to be untalented and earning millions for it. I mean, let’s be honest for a second:

“I’m hot cause I’m fly

You ain’t cause you not

This is why, this is why

This is why I’m hot”

Lady Gaga at least has meaning behind her music whether it’s apparent to everyone or not. Her recent interview with MTV illustrates it very well.

What do you think of Lady Gaga? Has she gone too far?

Lady GaGa voltou, só que dessa vez com o lado negro da fama – The Fame Monster. O álbum, apesar de ter todo um conceito próprio, é, ainda assim, um complemento teórico de seu antecessor The Fame (e daí vem a semelhança quase estúpida dos nomes) : o álbum de Poker Face e Just Dance tem como temas principais os supostos lados “benéficos” da fama, como o advento da fortuna, a vida nas festas e a própria celebridade, ilustradas de dentro pra fora pelas canções Money Honey, Just Dance, The Fame e Paparazzi, entre outras (obs : a moda é tema de todas as canções, mesmo que em segundo plano). Já Fame Monster lida com o que GaGa chamou numa conferência de imprensa de “medo de monstros” : monstro do sexo, do álcool, da solidão, do amor e etc. E junto com a mudança de tema, vem a mudança de aparência; é no mínimo insensato chamar sua moda de “linear”, mas enquanto promovia uma determinada linha de canções, com ideologias parecidas, ela mantinha um tipo de aparência. Pode-se constatar esse fato sutil colocando a fase Beautiful, Dirty, Rich/Just Dance (transição) em contraste com a Poker Face/LoveGame. E com o advento de um novo álbum, o contraste torna-se definitivamente claro. Lady deixa um pouco de lado vestimentas glamourosas e “escandaluxo” e começa a mostrar uma moda mais dark, gótica – ou no mínimo mais bizarra.

Beautiful, Dirty Rich : algo mais clubber, até mais recatado (GaGa usava calças nessa fase!)

Poker Face : upgrade mais glamouroso, chegando a ser meio Drag…

Poker Face e Alejandro : separados por um porre?

Bad Romance

Romance é o 1° single do álbum. A faixa  já faz muito sucesso em todo o mundo, estando atualmente colocada na 2ª posição da Billboard Hot 100. É uma faixa de Dance Pop, uptempo por natureza, que em muito lembra Poker Face; seja pelo arranjo, seja pela estrutura da letra (refrão, brigdes, MoMoMoMa’s e  GaGa Ohh La-La’s). Tende-se a achá-la repetitiva no início, mas ouvido-a por mais 3 vezes, torna-se o mais novo hit de GaGa. Segundo declarações da cantora e o próprio tema da canção, esta faixa seria relacionada ao “monstro do amor” e apresenta duas visões que, à primeira vista, deveriam ser tratadas em trabalhos diferentes : exploração dos prazeres de um “romance ruim” e o amor livre de barreiras por seu melhor amigo. Amor esse tão grande que quer explorar até os aspectos mais aterrorizantes e grotescos da vida do ser amado. É o que ela diz em versos como :

I want your ugly
I want your disease
I want your everything
As long as it’s free
I want your love
Love, love, love I want your love

Enquanto a letra parece retratar o lado romântico com mais atenção, o clipe tende a mostrar o lado efêmero de uma aventura amorosa; mas de qualquer maneira, em se tratando de GaGa, as possibilidades são muitas.

Alejandro

Alejandro ainda é aceitável para as pistas, quem sabe com um remix – mas já tem um foco mais melancólico. A partir daqui, as semelhanças com The Fame decrescem progressivamente (com grande excessão de Telephone). A canção parece tratar de um amante/namorado possivelmente ciumento, agressivo ou injusto – ou até mesmo os três juntos – e diante desse drama, a pessoa no outro extremo da relação tem que tomar uma decisão.  Sua letra chega a tornar-se mais interessante que a melodia – talvez com um clipe interessante, venha a tornar-se single.

Monster

Talvez a canção mais simbólica do álbum, é uma das mais chocantes também. Parte do bridge :

We might’ve fucked not really sure, don’t quite recall

Bom, já que ela acha que transou com o rapaz mas não lembra, podemos supôr que esse seja o/um dos “monstro do álcool” ou do “amor” mesmo. Uptempo novamente, reconhecemos no fundo o auto-tune de Space Cowboy, um DJ que acompanhou GaGa em sua Fame Ball Tour, que volta como produtor dessa faixa e de Dance In The Dark. Monster encontra-se na situação da canção anterior; o ponto forte do trabalho é a letra e não a melodia. Essa faixa parece tratar de uma atração irresistível por um Bad Boy, do qual GaGa tenta resgatar alguma lembrança. A coisa toma rumos gaguísticos, e, quando ela se dá por si, há um “monstro” em sua cama. De frente a essa situação, ela se pergunta se pode confiar/amar um “lobo disfarçado” muito sedutor.

Speechless

A canção é uma “exceção” no contexto do álbum; o arranjo é baseado no piano e uma guitarrinha básica – o que já destoa incrivelmente do ritmo frenético das faixas anteriores. Podemos até dizer que a música vem de Stefani Germanotta  – pois trata de seu pai. Destacando-a como um dos momentos mais importantes de sua carreira, Speechless fala de uma suposta abdicação de seu pai perante a vida, o que teria deixado GaGa – ou melhor, Stefani – sem palavras. Em certo ponto da canção, a cantora questiona se sua desistência o salvaria de seu estado crítico. Mesmo não se podendo afirmar o motivo exato do sofrimento, o contexto da faixa e seu arranjo mais intimista tornam este um dos momentos mais iluminados do álbum – momento no qual possamos talvez identificar o “monstro da solidão” ou mesmo do “amor” – afinal, amor entre familiares é (quase sempre) essencial.

Dance In The Dark

O Dance Pop volta com tudo nessa faixa, que nos lembra aquelas musiquinhas de máquinas de Pump, à la Cascade – a diferença é que a canção não chega a ser tosca.  Não a vejo com um potencial a single tão grande assim, mas quem sabe. A letra parece tratar de garotas que tem seus desejos inibidos e qualidades menosprezadas por namorados ou homens em geral; aí a dança no escuro, onde ninguém as vê. Pode tratar-se do “monstro da solidão” também; mas vamos ter que esperar um feedbackzinho básico maior sobre o álbum.

Telephone

Agora sim : se pudesse apostar em alguma música desse CD depois de Bad Romance, com certeza seria Telephone. E pelo que parece, os casting do álbum também; a canção conta com colaboração de seis pessoas, entre produtores e cantores – incluindo Beyoncé. A faixa parece ser a versão GaGa da música Video Phone, à qual a cantora prestou serviços. Bem toscos, diga-se de passagem. A diferença entre elas é que a sua versão ficou 40 milhões de vezes melhor do que a de Bey, apesar de a letra ficar no campo das boates mesmo – esta fala de alguma pessoa bem chata que insiste em ligar enquanto GaGa e sua trupe estão batendo cabelo loucamente numa pista de dança qualquer.

So Happy I Could Die

Novamente com Space Cowboy, So Happy I Could Die continua com o clima de buatshy e parece explorar novamente os monstros do sexo e álcool :

I love that lavender blonde
The way she moves
The way she walks
I touch myself can’t get enough

Parte do refrão :

Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine
Stars in our eyes ‘cuz we’re having a good time

Mesmo com todos os recursos empregados, a faixa tem um clima de êxtase misturado com melancolia, como se a cantora estivesse totalmente bêbada – portanto, “nas nuvens” (eu espero, pelo menos) – mas com a sensação de decadência de quem capota no meio da pista pela tontura (quem já não fez isso? haha).

Teeth

Parece que GaGa se encontrou com um Apache pra compor o arranjo da música. Nessa faixa, o produtor deixa o botão “balada” do sintetizador descansar um pouco; mas de qualquer maneira, a canção é uptempo e é a mais divertida do álbum, no sentido inocente da palavra. Já a letra revela que a faixa é tudo menos pura :

Don’t be scared
I’ve done this before
Show me your teeth
Don’t want no money (want your money)

That shit’s is ugly
Just want your sex (want your sex)

Basicamente é sobre uma GaGa sedenta por, provavelmente, uma noite de sexo (jura?). Palavras como “amor” e “religião”, encontradas na letra, não devem ser interpretadas literalmente, dada a efemeridade aparente da situação. Não tem muita cara de single, pois é muito brincalhona – não leva muito o rótulo “vamos dançar” – mas quem sabe qual será seu destino…

Concluindo, as 8 faixas tendem a ir para um lado mais selvagem, cru, ignorante da “fama” (mais pra “vida” do que “fama”), mas não perdem em qualidade por isso. Novamente, a liberdade das letras e os aspectos visuais dos trabalhos de GaGa chamarão mais a atenção e trarão mais novidades do que os arranjos musicais em si. Talvez nos seja necessário certo tempo para a adaptação à nova fase – O lançamento de The Fame tem pouco mais de um ano – porém, ao meu ver, um dos anos mais importantes para a música pop e a mainstream em geral. Um ano de transformações velozes, só para os que podem (e os que não podem, viram sub-artistas reciclados, como Jennifer Lopez mostrou ser em seu último single), que se concretiza como uma forma de arte atualizada – algo como o Pop 2.0. Não se pode decidir hoje se o caráter dos acontecimentos é bom ou ruim (e também não é tão simples assim), mas se nos basearmos no fato que a evolução só vem com a mudança, possivelmente estamos indo longe com essa artista.

Continuando con la celebracion de los 30 años del Moca, como era logico organizaron una fiesta a la que asistieron infinadad de gorrones famosos, entre ellos nuestra querida Tranny Gaga, en el evento no perdio oportunidad de lucir uno de sus espantosos modelitos y de promocionar su nuevo sencillo “bad romance”, la verdad es que Gagaloo ultimamente se ve mas delgada y freaky que de costumbre, pero no hay que negar que no pierde su encanto de excentricidad XD.

Llegamos al post numero 400 y es hora de celebrarlo con un poco de acción y un tipo de parranda. When the question was posed, “Why is Lady GaGa so poppy and catchy?” after watching the video for GaGa’s new music video “Bad Romance.” The first response to this question was “The Illuminati, dude.” Being caught a little off guard by this response, I started to think about it.

This made me start to question reality: Is GaGa a secret agent of the Illuminati, set to take over the world with her blend of cutting edge pop music, fashion and outlandish personal style? Is the New World Order going to take us over with dance? Will we all be decked out in Alexander McQueen gear? When these additional questions were asked I got a surprising vote of confidence for the Illuminati and the NWO.

I have a lot of energy today.  I didn’t when I got up but..things change, eh? First Larry called and wanted me to take him to the store, then he found another way which kind of pissed me off but I thought ‘Nowai, you will be happy today.’ So I go and turn in my application and meet the manager and I feel really good about it. I have great references and great flexibility and I’m just pumped. So I treat myself to an energy drink as a reward and I dance around my house to Just Dance in a rather enthusiastic manner and today is just nice, isn’t it?
