I usually prefer watching or reading a show in the original form it was released, book, manga, anime, whatever. The new creation can be valid and good on its own, but for the definitive take on the story, one should look at the original.

In anime and manga, this is quite important. We all know how some shows begin serialization before the original story is finished, and thus have to not only change things, but make up a lot of it as they go along (Fullmetal Alchemist), or that they descend into more and more “Filler episodes” of original and usually subpar material (such as Naruto and Bleach). But sometimes they go beyond.

Sometimes, such as in the early Naruto episodes, it was done more pervasively and yet more annoyingly, in how much time each episode was taken by synopsis of the last episode, and prolonged flashbacks. Well, that’s something you as the viewer can identify and take into account, and even major plot changes could be known if you check up on the series’ plot. But what about subtle and yet pervasive changes?

My brother and I began reading the Naruto manga, and then when we caught up to the translation (book 7 at the time?), we’ve moved to the anime, which was quite ahead of where the officially translated manga had reached, so I noticed something. You know how we keep getting told Naruto is stupid? Well, he’s much more stupid and stubborn in the anime, and not in an entirely good way.

In the anime, Naruto approaches each fight the following: “Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!” or “(Mass)Shadow Clone Technique”, which is quickly repelled, he does so again, and again, and after 3-5 rounds of failed clones, he decides to change his approach. This makes him stubborn, shows how much chakra he has, and shows him to be quite stupid, requiring the same technique used in the exact same manner defeated several times before he realized it just might be a good idea to try something else.

In the manga, as well as my memory serves me, Naruto was much quicker on the uptake, and after a single failed Kage Bunshin attempt, switched to something else. Of course he still failed, but he’s a Determinator, and failing is most of Naruto’s charm. But at least he’s not knucklebone stupid while doing it, and is trying new things at every turn.

That’s another reason to keep to the original venue, or try to stick to limited-run series, where they won’t try to change things just to fit the time constraints, though they might go the other way and cut stuff out, obviously.

So, which subtle changes to characters have you seen made when a medium transition was made, and not for the sake of the story?

10: Kage Shuriken no jutsu! (Shadow Shuriken Technique)

Of course, I had to add this jutsu, seeing as it’s the name of this very blog. In a very clever way, Sasuke and Naruto used this jutsu to whack old Zabuza. Sasuke throwing a big shuriken, and Naruto hiding in it’s shadow, to get close enough to give Zabuza a smack. Awesome work. Awesome teamwork, indeed!

9:  Katon: Gookakyuu no jutsu! (Firestyle: great fireball jutsu)

Believe it or not, I am NOT a Sasuke fangirl. But this jutsu is downright awesomeness-reincarnated. Yosh! And heck, he can throw a grand, graaand barbeque-party with this jutsu!

8: Kugutsu no Jutsu (Puppet master jutsu)

Kankuro’s (and of course Chiyo, Sasori and so on) awesome puppet manipulation jutsu. Using chakra to controll a puppet. Seriously what a great way to stay out of the most dangerous crossfire (if you will.) Clever, indeed. And not to mention, Kankuro’s puppets Karasu,Kuroari and Sanshou are very, very cool. Especially how he uses them in his Karakuri engeki jutsu. (trapping an oppnent inside one of the puppets, and using the other to anhialate  a foe.

7:  Twin Rising Dragons

Tentens niftly little jutsu “twin rising dragons” gets a nice 7th place. She is truly a master of weaponry, and using this jutsu, she summons a huge amount of shuriken, kunai and other weapons who will fall from the roof and on to an opponent. It didn’t do much against Temari’s fuuton style in the chuunin preliminaries, however, she gets a big plus for making this jutsu look extremely cool with her acrobatic skills.

6: Kage mane no jutsu (Shadow binding technique)

The Nara clan’s famous Kage binding jutsus deserves a number 6 on my list. Connecting one’s own shadow with an opponent, forcing them to mimic one’s own movement. If you are as clever as shikamaru, this kind of jutsu will open up a LOT of doors.

5: Tajuu Kage Bunshin no jutsu (Multiple shadow clone jutsu)

Naruto’s trademark jutsu. It doesn’t really need an explanation, does it?

4: Shousenjutsu (healing jutsu)

Used by Tsunade, Sakura and other medical nin. Who wouldn’t want to have this kind of ability?

3: Konoha Senpu! (Leaf hurricane)

Not really a jutsu is it? BUT, I think Rock Lee deserves some attention for his hard work. And to have that kind of a spinkick? AND make it look THAT cool? Way to go!

2: BYAKUGAN!

Trademark of the Hyuuga clan, their very own kekkei genkai. Making them able to see their opponents chakra flow. using their gentle fist style, they can manipulate their opponents chakra. Go Hyuuga!

1: Hakke: Rokujuu yon sho ( Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms)

My very very very favourite jutsu of them all. Neji sure knows how to land good punches.

Well, that’s it for now! I know these jutsu’s are like…the simple, basic, early seasons jutsus, but I really like them. Good and simple, that’s how I like my jutsu’s! xD So please don’t flame me. I like many other jutsu’s as well, but I haven’t got the time to do all the research! haha

Everybody wants to be a manly man, and what better way to be that than do a martial art. The manliest of all manly sports is surely mma, and what could be manlier than that? I’ll tell you what: Two sweaty men hugging. Enter brazilian jiu jitsu, which is not organised hugging, but actually pretty fun.

I started japanese ju jutsu at the tender age of 31. The first few weeks…I felt very old and sore. I am a pretty fit guy, but learning to fall the right way, that is going to leave bruises and marks and it did.

Why am I talking about all of this? I don’t know, but I thought I was going to write something about what I like about JJJ and BJJ and talk about martial arts in general; the conditioning and what I do, the psychology of doing it and what it does to your being and why people still like to do MA in this age of guns. But, it’s late, so I am just going to throw it up in bulletpoints and come back to it over the next few days. En realidad, no puede considerarse al antiguo ninjutsu un arte marcial en el sentido clásico del término, ya que las disciplinas que el ninja debía conocer iban mucho más allá de las técnicas de lucha o de combate. Como ya se ha dicho, la práctica del Ninpo Mykkyo, o prácticas esotéricas, y del Kuji Kiri (corte de nueve sílabas, posiciones místicas con los dedos que canalizan la energía), el cual legendariamente proporcionaba al ninja poderes asombrosos, eran de estudio obligado para los clanes ninja, quienes preferían tácticas de terror y espionaje, mucho más sutiles que el clásico bujutsu o arte marcial del samurái.

El ninjutsu no solo era lo que reltamos anteriormente, este arte marcial mortal, contaba de 18 ramas marciales las cuales eran las siguientes

1. Taijutsu: combate desarmado. Se divide en Koshijutsu (golpeos a zonas vitales) y Koppojutsu (rotura de huesos).

Early this morning, I got an invite to join a new Facebook application called Ninja Saga. At first I thought it was just another boring game. But since the person who invited me is a good friend, I joined the game.

Ever since this morning I have been playing the game. I am currently on level 5 and waiting for a new mission to unfold.

What I like about the application is that you can choose which Jutsu (power) you would like to buy using the number of Gold coins you have. I am currently loving these Jutsus: Fat Girl Transformation, Earth Strangle, Rapid Kick, Earth Smash, Rapid Fist, and Twister. The first two Jutsus can stun an enemy and make them immobile for 2 rounds.

Try out the game. It’ll get you hooked. Forget about Restaurant City or Farm Town, which I think can get boring after a few days. Try out the game and join my team.

Jutsu are awesome! I to want to be able to run up walls at break neck speeds. However in the Naruto universe is being horny contangious?

Seriously, think about it. During the ninja academy year that Naruto finally graduated, almost everyone who graduated was from a large and powerfull clan. They’re all the same age. It take around 8 months for a baby to be born. I can now imagine conversation around 8 months before every one was born.

Chibaku Tensei is a technique used by Pain which creates a dark black sphere that is thrown into the sky and pulls surrounding earth into a single point, piling on top of one another until it creates a large sphere. This technique is quite devestating, as it created a massive crater and devastated the forest and mountains around it. Pain notes that the Sage of the Six Paths had mastered this technique to an extent that he created the moon itself, and his technique paled in comparison to it. Despite it’s admitted inferiority, it was still strong enough to both hold out against Naruto’s Six-Tailed Fox Menacing Ball and incapacitate Naruto and trap him in his six-tailed transformation, an impressive feat, although it failed to contain Naruto when he slipped into his eight-tailed transformation. The technique appears to put an enormous amount of strain on Nagato.
