“Works great for camcorders in this price range”
I’ve had this camcorder for a month or so now and I’ve been really happy with this camcorder. I use this camcorder to take pictures of my wife and kid occasionally. The video quality is acceptable when there’s sufficient light, at low light the video gets grainy but there’s a built in light that can be turn on (manually or automatically). The microphone was also pretty sensitive and the sound in my videos are good of good quality. You can take snapshots in the middle of recording a video, the quality is ok for facebook but it you’re looking for high quality you should get a digital camera. It has no built in memory, but recording to SDHC is convenient and downloading to PC is very easy, just insert the SD card and grab the AVI files, I haven’t had any problems with the encoding.

If your budget is $200-$300 then you’re probably comparing this JVC MS120 with the Canon FS200 or the flip ultra HD (maybe the Sony/Panasonic ones as well). I went with JVC since Canon is more expensive, flip ultra HD has very limited controls and the reviews of Sony/Panasonic ones weren’t that great. And the JVC has kept me happy so far.

This is a great little camcorder. Its a little bigger than the palm of your hand and not much bigger than a digital camera. I tried out the ultra fine mode and economy mode and both work great. The ultra fine give you better detail but takes up lots of room. The economy mode works just as good but provides less detail. It shoots very clear picture in adequate lighting but in low lighting, you will need to turn on the LED light or make the proper adjustments. Also, you can view what you recorded right on the camcorder. It is also very easy to convert the videos you record to a workable format. For the price of $270 you can’t go wrong. I recommend it to everyone.

“Good little camcorder”
Great camcorder…just upgraded from C-VHS. This camcorder is light and very easy to use. The battery lasts for 4 hours and the removeable cards are perfect for direct copy to a computer.

Korábban már bemutatásra került az igen jó tulajdonságokkal megáldott JVC Everio GZ-HM400 digitális videókamera, aminek egyetlen szépséghibája, hogy Európában még nem kapható. Ezúttal tehát bemutatnánk a testvérkéjét, ami nem más, mint a JVC  GZ-X900 kamera.

Nem véletlenül neveztem testvérkének, hiszen a JVC Everio GZ-900 nagyon hasonló tulajdonságokkal bír, mint GZ-HM400, mindössze néhány ponton tér el tőle, sajnos elsősorban inkább negatív, mint pozitív irányba.
Ez azonban inkább azt jelenti, hogy a JVC a GZ-HM400 kamerával egy átlag kompakt eszközöknél jobbat dobott össze, míg a GZ-900 tartja az erős átlagot.
Egy nagyon fontos szempontban jelentősen eltér a két kamera, amely valakinek pozitív, valakinek negatív lehet: a JVC GZ-900 jelentősen kisebb, és könnyebb, mint a GZ-HM400.

A JVC Everio család új jövevénye ma került a Japán piacra. A JVC Everio GZ-HM400 digitális videókamera valódi full HD felbontásra képes, emellett 10,3 megapixeles fényképek készítésére is alkalmas.

A JVC Everio GZ-HM200 digitális videókamera egy árának megfelelő tulajdonságokkal felruházott házi videózásra teljesen alkalmas videókamera.

Minden műszaki cikk esetében van legalább két alapvető technológia, ami állandóan versenyben áll egymással. A digitális videókamerák esetében a fényjelek elektronikus jelekké való átalakításáért és digitális rögzítéséért felelős CMOS és  CCD, pontosabban manapság már inkább csak a  3CCD áll versenyben egymással. CMOS digitális videókamera
A CMOS a Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor, vagyis a komplementer fém-oxid félvezető rövidítése. Ez az eszköz érzékeny az elektromos töltésre, és csekély elektromos feszültség mellett sokáig képes információkat tárolni, viszont igen kevés energiát fogyaszt. A CCD, vagyis coupled charged device, vagyis töltéscsatolt eszköz a CMOS-hoz hasonlóan egy fényérzékeny alkatrésszel, fotodiódával kombinált, a fényt elektronikus jelekké alakító szerkezet, ami egymásba csatlakozó kondenzátorokból álló integrált áramköröket tartalmaz. A 3CCD kamera esetében úgy érik el a jobb színhatást, hogy a fényérzékelő nem egy, hanem három darab töltéscsatolt eszközzel rendelkezik, ami egy prizma által vörös, kék és zöld fényeket méri fényerejük aránya szerint.

Holy productive day, Batman! I managed to get my computer fixed, went and accepted my travel award at the University of Regina, got my criminal record check, did some banking, AND make a huge purchase that will directly affect the content of this blog.

That’s right ladies and gentleman. I bought a camcorder. As soon as I can figure out how the thing works, I’ll be doing my very first videoblog, which will be appearing RIGHT HERE! I picked up a JVC – Everio Digital Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive and

2.7″ LCD Monitor from Best Buy today, and it seems like it’s a pretty good buy for some travel footage and short reports geared toward online. I was told by the sales associate that it has a fairly responsive microphone and far better picture quality than the Sony camera of similar caliber. Expect something up on Rove Report within the week! I’ll do my best not to do any singing or dancing numbers in my pajamas.

I also picked up a new polarizing filter for my Canon Rebel XTI. Despite the fact that it is a chilly five degrees out right now, the sky is a perfect blue with marshmallow clouds, so I took it out for a few test shots. The difference in the vibrancy of the blue sky is amazing.

Mongolian Sky

This will definitely help me when I arrive in Mongolia because the skies in that country are known for their deep blue shades. While Saskatchewan is known as the “Land of the Living Skies”, Mongolia is known as the “Land of Blue Sky”. I’ve been told that the reason there is such a vibrant blue is that the elevation of the country is an average of 5100 ft. (1554 m.) above sea level. In contrast, Saskatchewan’s elevation averages 1500 ft.

As I’ve already mentioned, I also went for a criminal record check. Although Sumya never requested it, I decided to go get a few copies to show I have a clean record. I also asked for some to be labeled FREELANCE REPORTER so that I have backups for any other employment I may pick up while I’m there. For $30, these four sheets of paper may help a lot on my journey.

So now I’m set to go with a new backlight and a lot more memory for my computer. One more day forward!

I was recently given two JVC HDD EVERIO cameras with my sisters wedding footage on them to create a video.  This was the first time that I had transferred footage from a memory driven HD camera and the idea seemed pretty straight forward.  It wasn’t.

Initially it is pretty easy.  Just plug the camera into your computer and the camera’s hard drive will pop up on your screen.  Find the files that end in .MOD and change their extension to .mpeg.  You will receive a warning asking if you really wish to change the extension.  Continue with changing it to MPEG.

After doing this, you should instantly see the footage in the thumbnail version of the file and can transfer it into Final Cut Pro.

The problem I ran into next was that the footage played perfectly in FCP but there was no audio attached.  I found a great solution through the apple website forums in a free application called MPEG Streamclip by Squared 5.  This application allows you to drag and drop a clip into the drop zone of Streamclip.  Since I was working with HD and wanted to maintain a higher quality, I went to file > Export to MPEG-4 > and then I chose the settings I needed to maintain the widescreen ratio.  Depending on your needs you can export the file to AVI, DV, QUICKTIME, etc.

The file is created and works perfectly in Final Cut.  If using a JVC EVERIO CAMERA and FINAL CUT PRO definitly think about getting STREAMCLIP.  You can find it here: http://www.squared5.com/

My little sister Jenn and I went hiking today. Pretty good exercise, it was a lot of fun. We hiked at Branford supply pond, while hiking we saw people out on the pond ice fishing. It was really cool so we decided to walk out on the frozen lake and see what was up. Right when we did they caught a fish, it was sad for me because I am vegetarian and do not eat seafood, but they put it back!! Then me and her skated around (with our sneakers) and then went over to a waterfall. It was really pretty. Also it was kind of cold out but we hiked for a while. Pretty fun.

Also today I bought a camcorder! Which I am really excited for because I plan on taping a lot of my vacations that I go on this year! It’s a pretty cool camcorder and I’m really excited for it!! It’s the JVC Everio 330! It’s blue, it’s cute. It’s the hard drive kind.

So on Valentine’s Day I went out to eat with my boyfriend at Bertucci’s. Then we went to see the movie Taken! I know it’s not the typical romantic comedy Valentine’s movie but I loved it! I love a wide range of movies especially the kinds like that. Then he slept over, and the next day we had the left over pizza from Bertucci’s for breakfast and then we went for a walk at West Haven beach. Not the cleanest of beaches but it was pretty fun. We walked on the boardwalk, not the actual beach. Here are some pictures from the walk.

So I also have a New Year’s Resolution to read at least one book a month. I’m already on the my sixth one!! It’s so awesome reading and I think I may want to write a book myself! Oh yah, the picture at the top of my blog is one from West Palm Beach last August when I went!

I dont know what is wrong, I have converted other crap in the past without problem, but today its giving me shit. So im gonna try to figure it out and Hopefully i can air the podcast. Stay tuned…
