JERUSALEM–An estate agent told me the other day that many sellers miss opportunities because they don’t accept an early offer which is near enough to the asking price in the hope of getting more by hanging on. In most cases, more doesn’t happen and in the end the property is sold for much less than originally expected.

 I thought of my informant when I read about the recent reported encounters between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Leader of the Opposition in the Knesset, Tzipi Livni. 

 After the elections early in 2009 it became obvious that Livni wouldn’t be able to form a government, even though her Kadima party had one more seat than Netanyahu’s Likud. In order to create a broad coalition, Netanyahu invited Livni and her party to join him, not in a commanding position but with considerable influence. She refused by arguing that, having one more seat, she wasn’t prepared to play second fiddle.

 Since then Netanyahu has shown himself to be a skilled operator who gradually and realistically has moved government foreign policy to the centre while keeping the more extreme right-wing coalition parties in check. Livni, on the other hand, has had to contend with a lot of internal strife, mainly because of the machinations of her deputy Shaul Mofaz, who wants her job as well as a seat in the government (which would make him the third former Chief of Staff in the cabinet, beside Barak and Ya’alon).

 In the meantime, Netanyahu and his team were exploiting the tensions in Kadima by seemingly successfully trying to lure some of its Knesset members back to Likud (from whence many of them originally came) by offering them government positions above their station. The matter came to a head earlier this week. In order to keep her party together, she may now agree to join the government and get a very subordinate role (minister without portfolio). Hence the allusion to my encounter with the estate agent.

 The only alternative open to Livni, as suggested by several pundits, is to call a party convention and have an election for the Kadima leader. If she wins, she’ll probably be able to keep the party together and stay in opposition awaiting the Netanyahu government to stumble or worse. More likely, however, she’d lose and Mofaz will become leader – and take his party into the government.

 I’m among those who believe that this may be a good thing for at least two reasons: (a) I’ve never thought of Livni as a great politician and her tenure in opposition hasn’t made me change my mind; (b) Kadima joining the government will make the Prime Minister less dependant on the right wing and thus more able to pursue the pragmatic politics that the situation and President Obama demand.

 Kadima may even find a face-saver, and thus help to deal with the settlers and the aftershock from the outcome of the Gilad Shalit negotiations. Livni insisted that she’d only join if the Prime Minister accepted a two-state solution. He has. (Now it’s Abu Mazen who’s the awkward one, which, of course, is in Israel’s diplomatic interest, because whatever each side says, it doubtful whether either wants a two-state solution. But that’s for another time.) It could be used as an excuse for accepting the lesser price.

 Israeli politics could do with a Christmas break, but Christmas doesn’t figure in this culture. So while much of the rest of the political world hibernates for the next week or so, Israel will be at it full steam with Tzipi Livni having the lion’s share of tsores.

UPDATE/ADDENDUM: December 10 2009 — Noam Sheizaf at Promised Land and Bryan Altinski by e-mail both point out that by supporting this legislation, I’m ultimately undermining the same freedoms I’m trying to defend. Point taken. No end justifies the means. Especially when freedom of speech is at stake. I wrote, “in this atmosphere one is tempted to clutch at straws,” and I have.

On Friday (December 4 2009) we surveyed US casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson’s ongoing intervention in local politics, trading American money for Israeli influence. Engaged for nearly two decades in building a highly effective local network of neo-conservative institutions, Adelson wanted more. In July 2007 he launched Israel Hayom, a blatantly pro-Netanyahu newspaper engaged in highly uncompetitive practices. We quoted Israeli prize laureate Nahum Barnea of Yediot, who, in a recent Globes interview, bluntly warned that Adelson was a clear and present danger to Israeli democracy.

This morning’s (December 9 2009) Maariv reports (full text after jump) that a bi-partisan Knesset bill seeks to bar foreign ownership of Israeli newspapers

This has been a terrible year for Israeli democracy. Already fundamentally flawed — more than three million stateless and right-less Palestinians under effective Israeli control for42 years; institutionalized discrimination against an “enfranchised” Arab minority; severe restrictions on religious freedom — what is left is being undermined. The freedom of expression and association of Israeli citizens has driven an extraordinarily open public debate for a country at war. Since the the outbreak of the Second Intifada in 2000, however, these rights have been constantly questioned by the security establishment and right-wing partisans . The Gaza war accelerated the process exponentially. Dissent was systematically silenced and the domestic media debate was all but monolithic.

The Netanyahu government is poised to deliver coup de grâce. The combination of Lieberman putinism and Shas chauvinism is enough to turn every day into a rearguard action to defend another threatened freedom. But another development presents a much more fundamental threat. In an ironic twist, just as the neoconservatives exited DC, they took office in Jerusalem. The Prime Minister’s Office is staffed by movement ideologues (many of whom are alumni of Adelson’s Shalem Center.) They are working towards a restructuring of the Israeli public sphere and are working closely on this effort with partners formally outside the government — Dore Gold of the JCPA, Gerald Steinberg of NGO Monitor and Gonen Ginat of Adelson’s Israel Hayom, for example.

One major vector is the Ron Dermer initiated campaign to suppress Israeli human rights NGOs, currently led by Steinberg. Over the past two weeks, with everyone else focused on the settlement freeze, I have bored Coteret readers with daily accounts of a last-ditch defense waged by progressive civil society groups.

A border-less Israel has been in a perpetual internal security crisis at least since 1967. It does not have a constitution or a real tradition of pluralistic democracy. Bouncing back may be much more difficult than it was in for post-Bush US.

In this atmosphere, one is tempted to clutch every passing straw and I jumped all over the Maariv story. An extraordinary coalition of MKs, a Likud hardliner hand-in-hand with an Arab nationalist. Does the Israeli Knesset, at the bottom of the ladder in terms of public trust and castrated by the executive branch, still have a collective survival instinct? Probably not. Interests have met, however. For those to the left of Netanyahu, the partisan motivation is clear. Miri Regev is positioning herself as a populist leader of the Likud’s internal opposition to Netanyahu. Israel Hayom has not been kind to her. The Haaretz report on the bill adds something Maariv neglected to mention

Yisrael Hayom’s popularity is seen mainly as a threat to Maariv; Nimrodi has been meeting MKs in recent weeks to discuss the matter. A Nimrodi associate, attorney Ram Caspi, took part in drafting the bill.

Incest is an apt description for the relationship some Israeli MKs have with local captains of industry and financiers.

No matter. Tourniquet comes first, bandages later. In any case, it too early to celebrate. There is a lot of horse-trading ahead before before the bill even makes it to the Knesset floor.  

MKs mobilize for newspapers owned only by Israelis

A large group of Knesset Members is seeking, through new legislation, to restrict control of the Israeli media by people who live abroad. The bill calls to ban people who are either not citizens or residents of Israel to receive a license to own a newspaper.

The bill provides a clear definition of who may own a media outlet in Israel. The bill reads, in part, “No license shall be granted unless the applicant is a citizen and resident of Israel and/or a corporation registered in Israel, and the ability to direct its activity and at least 51 percent of all means of direct or indirect control over it are in the hands of either Israeli citizens or residents of Israel.”

“The goal of the bill is to set the world of Israeli journalism in order,” said MK Hasson (Kadima). “We want to change the situation in which a person who is not a resident of Israel and the center of whose life is not in Israel can own a newspaper by means of his money and use it as a kind of mouthpiece in order to represent clear interests, while most of the readers either don’t know or don’t realize the hidden interests of the publisher, who often does this for free. Today it’s Sheldon Adelson, a foreign citizen who owns Israel Hayom. Tomorrow, a Saudi businessman will establish a newspaper and wrest control over public discourse here and influence Israel’s public opinion without our knowing a thing about either the interests that he represents or his goals.”

MK Daniel Ben Simon (Labor) said that he has no problem with newspapers being given out for free but, rather, with the identity of the person behind the action. “I don’t know what his motives are, but he’s touching Israeli democracy’s holy of holies—he’s molding the face of Israeli society,” he explained. “Personally, I feel badly that a man who made most of his money in casinos or by means of casinos, who doesn’t know a word of Hebrew and doesn’t live here, should hold such a key.”

MK Eitan Kabel (Labor) joined this position. “The importance of this bill is first and foremost that the need to ensure that the Israeli media should be led by Israelis who have knowledge and awareness of what’s happening in the country,” he said. “The media isn’t just a business.” In addition, MK Miri Regev (Likud), who supports the bill, said that members of all Knesset factions support the bill. “I see it as a fundamental principle, not a personal one,” she said. “It’s intended to preserve pluralistic discourse in the media and in the public.”

The chairman of the United Torah Judaism faction, MK Eliezer Menahem Mozes, said that this is a broad assertion. “Just as I oppose the idea that Israeli citizens should vote abroad or that foreign citizens, even if they’re Jews, should vote in Israel,” he said, “I am against the notion that the foremost element that influences public opinion in Israel, the media, should be under the control of a foreign citizen who will try to dictate our public opinion.”

MK Dov Hanin (Hadash) said that this stems from the media’s influence on Israeli life. “There is a problem with the idea that people who are not part of this society should have the power to affect society’s agenda in a dramatic way,” he said. “The media is a neutral tool, and therefore we think that the owners of the media ought to be Israeli citizens.”

MK Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List/Arab Movement for Renewal) said that journalism must be preserved, and that its owners should be compelled to be residents. “The relationship between big business and government is problematic,” he said, “particularly if it is motivated by foreign funds and ulterior motives.”

As a first step, the Palestinian state will be in 60 percent of the West Bank and Gaza. 90 percent of the Palestinians will be there and no settlements will be evacuated.”

Upon creation of the demilitarized state, Mofaz said that permanent, defensible borders will be negotiated while evacuation-compensation bills are enacted. Laman web parti politik terbesar di Israel iaitu Kadima telah digodam oleh hacker Palestin. Menurut jurucakap parti itu, bukan website Kadima sahaja yang terlibat malah blog peribadi pemimpin parti itu juga turut diceroboh.

Keadaan itu disedari oleh administrator setelah mendapati wajah Livni telah diletakkan simbol sasaran tembak dengan beberapa slogan hasutan terhadap parti Kadima seperti “God will defeat Israel” di dalam bahasa Arab dan Hebrew. Kini pasukan teknologi maklumat parti Kadima sedang bertungkus-lumus membersihkan semula laman web tersebut.

Menurut akhbar The Associated Press, kemungkinan pencerobohan itu mungkin dilakukan oleh Gaza Hacker Team (GHT) berdasarkan logo kumpulan yang diletakkan pada web.

Tindakan GHT ini mungkin untuk membalas tindakan kumpulan hacker Israel dari Gerakan Kach yang menggodam tiga laman web kepunyaan parti Arab-Balad iaitu Arab42.com, Mahsom.com dan Arabic-Language.com pada Jun 2008.

Sebelum menggodam laman web parti Kadima, Gaza Hacker Team telah melakukan tindakan di luar dugaan pihak keselamatan Israel iaitu menceroboh dan mengambil alih laman web serta stesen Radio 102FM milik Israel pada 19 Januari 2009.

Pencerobohan tersebut tidak disedari pasukan komputer stesen radio tersebut dan selepas disedari, pasukan komputer itu terpaksa pula mengambil masa yang lama untuk mendapatkan semula kawalan stesen radio internet mereka.

Perang Dunia Digital Bermula

Menurut wartawan Israel iaitu Maayan Cohen, kumpulan hacker dari Gaza tidak sahaja bergerak bersendirian, mereka sangat teratur dan mempengaruhi hacker-hacker dari negara lain yang pro-Palestin.

Sehingga akhir 2008, laporan menunjukkan sudah beribu-ribu laman web dari Israel telah digodam oleh hacker-hacker luar negara khususnya dari Iran, Lubnan, Maghribi, Turki dan Algeria. Selain itu, hacker pro-Palestin juga turut cuba menggodam laman web bank dan agensi-agensi kerajaan di Israel.

Menurut laporan dari web CNN.com, kumpulan hacker dari Maghribi yang digelar Team Evil disyaki paling banyak menggodam web-web dari Israel. Serangan tersebut disyaki telah dilakukan sejak tahun 2006 lagi.

Lanjutan dari permasalahan ini, Kementerian Luar Israel telah mengeluarkan dana khas membantu kelompok hacker dan propagandist dari Israel yang berhasrat mempertahankan dasar-dasar luar negara Israel. Bukan itu sahaja, rakyat Israel juga digalakkan memuat turun suatu perisian khusus untuk memberi sokongan kepada kerajaan Israel. Perisian itu diberi nama Megaphone. Menurut jurucakap Kementerian Luar Israel, setakat sudah 50,000 pelayar internet memuat turun perisian tersebut.

Messianic Jews are frequently and irrationally accused of deceit for simply identifying as Jews and believing that Yeshua of Nazareth is the Messiah of Israel. If you think we’re wrong, why not just say so, rather than accuse us of deceit? This is a point we’ve made in RPP’s response to Jews For Judaism: Full Revolution.

Counter-Messianics frequently level the charge against us that we are somehow sneaky, deceptive and not to be trusted.

So, one wonders what they would have to say about deceit against Messianic Jews?

This week, Israeli newspapers have revealed the scandalous deceit of Israeli Kadima MK Shlomo Molla [pictured below].

Ynet News reports:

A Yedioth Ahronoth investigation published Sunday reveals that a $10,000 donation was transferred to Kadima MK Shlomo Molla’s bank account by an American messianic organization promoting Jewish belief in Jesus that asked that the money be distributed among needy people in the Ethiopian immigrant community. However, MK Molla reportedly kept the money in his account and did not distribute it to anyone.

Now it gets interesting. Have a look at this Jerusalem Post article, and pay attention to the last paragraph:

However, the source close to Molla said that during his most recent trip to the US last April, which was meant for campaign fund-raising purposes, Molla siphoned money from donations made by Orthodox institutions, Reform and Conservative congregations and at least one rabbi to buy clothes and presents for his family.

“Many organizations and individuals wanted to support his campaign,” said the source. “And he just used the money for personal use while he was in America.”

Yediot Aharonot’s investigation demonstrated that while $7,000 of the $17,000 donation from Jewish Voice was for his campaign deficit, an additional $10,000 of the contribution transferred to him last May was meant to have gone to programs for the needy in the Ethiopian immigrant community.

“He [Molla] kept saying that it was not important, that the money only came from Jews for Jesus and not from ‘real’ Jews, said the source. “He tried to make them sound ugly so that no one would care about what happened to the money, but I do not think their beliefs are important, they had good intentions and they wanted to help Israel.”

According to these reports, then, money given by JewishVoice did not reach its intended Ethiopian recipients, and instead was pocketed by Mr. Molla. Yet the callousness of Molla’s attitudes towards Messianic  Jews is absolutely disgraceful. According to the source close to Molla, Molla questioned the Jewish identity of the Messianic Jews, and as he didn’t consider them authentically Jewish, they were okay to rip off.

So what about all the Jews who Molla would count as ‘authentic’ who didn’t receive vital aid due to his greed and deceit? And how is it okay to rip people off just because of what they believe or how they choose to identify themselves?

This is the logic of Yad L’Achim, and of bigots around the world. According to this logic, crimes against your fellow man are justifiable because you think they’re rotten in the first place.

As it is revealed this week that Yad L’Achim give regular updates to Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai, it is clear that Israel’s political system should clean up its attitude towards Jews who believe in Yeshua.

Eli Aflalo was elected as a representative of the Galil and Negev and hold the flag of the peripheral areas of Israel. He was part of the Likud party, however currently represents Kadima party in the Knesset.
What does MK Eli Aflalo focus on?
Promoting the industry in Israel is one of his major inspirations. Before he was elected to the Knesset, Aflalo served as the Chairman of Tefen Industrial Committee. He also served as chairman of subcommittee for industry and worked to promote construction of industrial zones and factories particularly in the peripheral areas.
Overall Equity: Direct Representative of Peripheral Areas
Brand character: understanding industry and peripheral needs, As a Moroccan native has a better understanding of peripheral voters and their specific social needs.

MK Eli Aflalo seems to understand the importance of PRing his parliamentarian activities online and linking his strategic planning to his overall equity. For example, since social and peripheral issues are a great concern for him, his activities aim to deal with them i.e as member of the economic committee was part of the initiators to increase dramatically the medical budget in Israel, promoted a plan to subsidize workers in peripheral areas to ensure their salaries, promoted plans to relocate factories from central areas to the north or south and etc.
Overall, it seems that MK Aflalo has a clear vision and acts up to it. However, MK is not so popular vs other MKs. His academic history shows that he graduated from high school and did not continue on to the university. His equity was not effected since the majority of his voters probably have same educational status. This is a nice example of understanding his strategic targets and focusing on the things that matter to them.
He is a “down to earth” MK who probably has very good interpersonal abilities which enable him to connect to the right people who will continue to promote him.

Cosa dire che non sia già stato detto? Poco, ovviamente. Lo sport dei giornalisti nostrani in questa settimana sembra essere stato un trofeo a chi arriva primo nella gara per scoprire  “che ha in mente Fini”. Le ultime dal gossip di palazzo vogliono la creazione di un Kadima all’italiana con il trio allegro e pieno di brio Fini-Casini-Rutelli al timone. Una tristezza. E non lo dico perché il progetto politico sia sbagliato. Lo sostengo perché è del tutto evidente NON c’è nessun progetto politico.
Mi spiego. Kadima nacque con il più alto scopo che un partito politico possa mai pensare di avere: portare la pace in una zona di guerra. Sharon si rese conto che con il Likud di Netaniahu questo non era possibile e quindi si prese un pezzo di labour il grosso dell’allora partito della destra sionista e creò un soggetto nuovo con lo scopo di fondare una pace durevole partendo dal riconoscimento dello stato di Israele da parte dei palestinesi per finire con uno Stato palestinese riconosciuto dagli israeliani.
L’infausto destino che martoria la Terrasanta ha voluto che al povero vecchio leader, unica personalità israeliana che potesse riuscire nell’impresa, venisse un ictus e la storia è finita lì. Tant’è che ora Kadima è all’opposizione.
In Italia non c’è nulla di tutto questo. Ci sono tre leader della generazione dei cinquantenni (e rotti), belli, colti e bruciati dalla presenza di Berlusconi. I primi due si sentono nel centrodestra come una bella bottiglia di satin della Franciacorta: pieni di effervescenza e di idee tappate dal sughero dello strapotere berlusconiano che tutto controlla e nulla concede.  Il terzo, Rutelli, ha invece perso la partita del potere all’interno del Pd nell’area ex popolare a vantaggio di Franceschini, grazie al colpo di coda di Veltroni che con la nomina dell’attuale segretario ha inteso far fuori in primo luogo lui. Oramai nella disfida per la segreteria del Partito democratico chiunque vinca, Rutelli ha perso. Ecco che allora si vede costretto a guardare altrove:  il Kadima in Italy, appunto.
Sarebbe una operazione di potere, di una classe dirigente che dirigente davvero non è mai stata, sviluppata a prescindere da qualsiasi ideale al di fuori del far fuori l’ormai per loro insopportabile Berlusconi ed emarginare il Pd a ruolo subalterno.
Sinceramente è improbabile che se ne faccia qualcosa. Quantomeno qualcosa della portata storica (ed elettorale) del Kadima originale. Fini è troppo intelligente per provarci ora. Yesterday was so beautiful. We went to the park and played Kadima to our hearts’ content (and Rob’s sweat glands’ content), sipped some Riesling, flicked ants off our books, and did some squirrel watching. Actually, that last one was Eli, but we partook some ourselves. He was so angry, he looked like an old man shaking his fist at Eli to get off his yard. He chirped and yelled for 15 or so minutes until Eli just set his chin down and went to sleep.

If we look sort of grumpy, it’s probably because we are: I spilled my wine on the blanket twice and after the sun got to beating on it for awhile, everything started to smell like feet.

But the grump faded fast and gave way to Super Fun Kadima Time!

Rob read his book The House of Mondavi (which must be titillating because when he’s reading, he’s always gasping and such) and I read the rest of a short story by my second favorite author, Eliott Perlman. Someone was trying to drown a bag of 3 kittens in the story so it’s safe to say I skimmed to the end. Which isn’t easy to do on a Kindle.

Kadima’s Irony of Rebellion by Kim Johnson

Have you ever sat back and considered the definition of rebellion?

The dictionary defines rebellion as “The act of rebelling; open and avowed renunciation of the authority of the government to which one owes obedience, and resistances to its officers and laws, either by levying war, or by aiding others to do so; an organized uprising of subjects for the purpose of coercing or overthrowing their lawful ruler or government by force; revolt; insurrection;” and an “Open resistance to, or defiance of, lawful authority.”

As rebellion in and of itself is often defined as an act, the Hebrew word for rebellion, “mri” defines it as an attitude that precedes an action.  “Mri” means, “bitterness, bitter or rebellious (ion).”   The definition is derived from the word, “marah” meaning, “to be or make bitter, to rebel (resist or provoke), to change, to be disobedient, and to grievously provoke.”

When considering the biblical perspective of rebellion we understand that it is an act or uprising against G-D and His authority that only too often manifests itself in angry, hostile, rebellious acts against the government or by the government against its citizens.

When considering Israel’s current government, “rebellion” plays a very important role in understanding the actions and perspectives of the different parties, in particular the Kadima party.

The Kadima party, was formed in the act of rebellion during the development of the “disengagement” policies which led to the expulsion of 10,000 Jews from their homes in the southern Mediterranean plane of Israel.

The party is in-fact a defect-o party. During the policy making that would decide, with great pressure from the American government, whether or not to remove the Jews of Gush Katif from their homes, Ariel Sharon (the Prime Minister of Israel at that time and leader of the Likud party) held a national vote among the Likud party on the issue. The result was a staggering defeat for the proposed “disengagement,” as it was found not to be in the best interest of the nation.

The Prime Minister stated, prior to the vote, that he would honor the decision of his party and the people. Yet, after hearing the decision in conjunction with continued international and American pressure, Ariel Sharon reneged on his word and formed a new party Kadima with those who were for the “disengagement.”

Sadly, it was the demise of Ariel Sharon. Today, after five years, he still hangs between heaven and hell, in a coma. The Kadima party, who recently lost to the Likud party and the leadership of Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, is consistently undermining all governmental policies and, in particular, decisions concerning the growth and future of Judea and Samaria.

In a recent article opposing the visit of four Ministers to the newly formed outpost communities in Yesha, we read “The people of Israel deserve an answer about whether to believe the Netanyahu who talks about ‘two states for two peoples’ or the one who sends his senior ministers to swear allegiance to all the illegal outposts and to take steps that block the creation of two states for two peoples,” the Kadima spokesman said. “Netanyahu is going against the opinion of the entire world, and the people of Israel are liable to pay the price in the loss of strategic interests like maintaining the settlement blocs.”

The irony of Kadima’s statement is that the people of Israel want the outposts to continue and thrive. They want the settlements to flourish and so does G-D. In the 36th chapter of Ezekiel we read with startling clarity that in the end of days the L-RD G-D is going to gather the Jews and Israelites from the four corners of the earth, bring them back to the Land, and plant them in the Mountains of Israel (today’s West Bank). There they are to flourish and never be plucked up again.

Along with this promise also comes a stern warning of judgment in Ezekiel 38 and 39 to all governments and nations who try to uproot these communities that G-D had planted and take possession of the land for themselves.

Hence, the very thing that Kadima is accusing the Likud party of doing “rebelling against the people and the governments of the nations” is in fact an accusation rooted in the horrific reality that the men and women who make up their party are the ones who have “rebelled against the people of Israel and the government.”

The root of their rebellion? The same as their forefathers three thousand years ago – bitterness. Against who? Their G-D, His Word and His Government.

El Primer Ministro Benyamin Netanyhau convocó éste Jueves a su despacho a su Vice Premier, el Mnistro de Planificación Estratégica Moshe Yaalon para amonestarle por sus recientes declaraciones.
Hablando en un congreso del ala derecha de su partido, Likud, Yaaon dijo que “el movimiento Paz Ahora y las elites políticas son un virus”.

“Only four months have passed since the establishment of the government. In other places this is usually a period of hope, prosperity, and vision. Instead, since the day this government took office, with its dozens of ministers and deputy ministers, the public has realized that its sole objective was political survival.”

Kadima’s chairwoman strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his “lack of vision and lack of clear path.”

For me Kenafah is symbol for wealth and corruption (WESTERN AID). A call for more Kenafah to spoil Palestinians and forget their rights.

• The alarming part is that thousands of youngsters are enrolled in special camps for the purpose of MEMORIZING the Qur’an; Instead of lively debates, critique and analysis, revolutionary theory and practice, etc, this is what Hamas has produced.
• Comming into contact with a religious man they always feel they must wash their hands.
• The problem with political Islam is the fact that it is political!!
• As Arab minorities (to their own right) prefer a pseudo secular dictatorships than a democratically elected Muslim party.
• The masses are so brain washed and religion is thought of as the spinal chord of their identity.
• To them the reformation will not be possible until political Islam fails completely against Israel same way Arab nationalism failed in 1967. Only then will the masses lose faith in it , same way the lost faith with Nasser and Baathism.
• For things to get better , they must get a whole lot worse (to them it means the liquidation of the Palestinian struggle and the full hegemony of the west over historic Palestine with the Arab regimes blessing Zion. ).
• In their life time they will not see the changes , because we are in the midst of the Islamic Dark ages.

Every now and again, something happens in the Knesset to prove that at least some of its members are actually real folks, with a sense of humour.

It happened today when King Bibi bulldozed through a piece of self serving legislation designed to do absolutely nothing else but allow him to continue his tenuous existance as Prime Minister and leader of his ragtail coalition.

Now, it seems that certain members of the Kadima party, the guys who should have been in power, were so offended by Bibis reversion to his former furniture salesman mentality in “bending of the rules of democracy” that they donned anti pollution masks.

To quote Kadima MK Yoel Hasson, “True, this is an act that does not fall in the realm of a normal parliamentary tool, but the stench that emanates from Netanyahu’s laws of survival calls for such a drastic step. The entire public needs to know what kind of bad smell is wafting from the Knesset today.”

Once the evening TV news programs are over, most of Israel will.

It took me close to 2 hours to motivate myself to run tonight. After much grumbling and a quite a few swear words (directed at various inanimate objects in my vicinity—shoes, table, receipt on floor), Rob gave me a hug and I shuffled into the hallway.

“Wait—can you do something for me when I’m gone?” I whined.

“Sure. What.”

“ORDER KADIMA PADDLES!!!!”

Yes!!! Memories... light the corners of my mind...

BING! That’s right. After 3-4 days shipping & handling, Rob and I are going to be the proud owners of a legit Kadima set. Not Pro Kadima, mind you, original Kadima. (It makes a way better wooden sound.) I’ve been playing Kadima since my tyke days on the beaches of Block Island, RI. When we tired of using the paddles, we’d take the ball and build these insane, complicated “roller coasters” in the sand. Early lessons in engineering, and seriously fun.

So after July 4th when I introduced Rob to this enormously fun game (and peed my pants when we got all the way to 19 hits without dropping the ball. No idea—don’t ask.) and the leisurely Cat Blanket Bingo last night, we rejoiced at the thought of combining the two.

I seriously cannot wait.

Physical activity, games that involve counting, and beer! Let the fun begin!

The Kadima party, originating out of P.M. Ariel Sharon’s rebellion against his own Likud party, has once again mocked the current Likud government under the premier leadership of Binyamin Netanyahu.   It is important to note that the Kadima party continues to oppose the current government by undermining every major policy especially policy developments on behalf of the settlements, a one state solution and Israeli-Palestinian dialogue.   Tzippi Livni who is the chair of this party makes frequent trips to the U.S. to meet with those working on the two state solution.  Their goal – bring down Netanyahu.   Here is Kadima’s latest statement on the Economic bill that passed:

After the Knesset vote on the Economic Arrangements Bill ended successfully on Wednesday evening, Kadima issued a statement saying “the budget passed, but the callous decrees of [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu will stay.”

“Beginning this evening, every Israeli who turns on the tap, lights a cigarette or fuels their car – will be financing the coalition deals of Netanyahu and his political partners and polishing the chairs of the most bloated government in Israel’s history,” the statement said.

How do we pray?  Pray the way that David prayed concerning his enemies.  Pray that G-D would smash the teeth of rebellious politicians that desire to destroy righteous leaders.  Remind the L-RD that he hates rebellion, loves equity and justice and He is the one who raises up leaders.  Continue to pray that G-D gives the Prime Minister and the current Knesset members wisdom and discretion in all that they do.

Peace Now is launching a propaganda campaign urging Israelis to push to freeze settlements.  The articles refers to Israel as “brainwashed” to which I strongly disagree.  Israeli’s understand the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into possessing the Land.  Furthermore, the threat of annihilation as a nation is increased manifold by relinquishing any portion of the Land.  This has been proven time and time again, most recently with the disengagement.  Peace Now you are an enemy of Israel and of G-D!  We pray that your words and plans come to nothing and fall back upon you!  Let us pray against Peace Now asking G-D to disappoint the devices of their craftiness so that their hands cannot perform their enterprises!

The Peace Now movement launched a new campaign on Tuesday, calling on Israelis to push for a freeze on settlement construction.

The campaign focuses around the slogan: “Settlements are not Obama’s problem, not the world’s problem, but your problem.”

At a press conference held in Jerusalem Tuesday morning, Peace Now chair Yariv Oppenheimer said, “The Israeli public has been brainwashed, first by the Labor party, and then by Kadima, Likud and obviously the right-wing parties, that settlement building is in the nation’s interest.”

“We want to remind the Israeli public that settlements are a fundamental obstacle to reaching a two-state solution,” he went on.
