As reported by us earlier, Manoj Bharathiraja is geared up for the remake of his father’s super hit thriller Sigappu Rojakkal. He’s also roped in Yuvan Shankar Raja for scoring music. Latest in the series is that Kamal and Ilayaraja are rendering voices for the classic hit songs Ninaivo Oru Paravai and Minminikku Kannil respectively.

Of these, Ninaivo Oru Paravai was sung by Kamal in the original version while “Minminikku Kannil” was earlier rendered by Malaysia Vasudevan.

Hi,

It has been almost 6 years since “Anbe Sivam” has released. Many would have watched the movie umpteen number of times on TV as well..But with most who like the movie, like it for the humour or for Kamal/ Madhavan’s acting. Most don’t like it bcoz they are not able to relate to/ don’t understand the story.

The movie was a Box Office Failure and mixed review from critics. Most people who have seen the movie would still love the movie…but wayback in 2003, piracy was at its best and hence many would have caught up on a pirated copy rather than watching this in theatre.

Story Plot:

Rich girl and Poor Boy meet and fall in love. Girl’s father and Boy have an issue. He tries to seperate them by playing foul. Years later, rich girl marries poor boy’s friend. Simple story – Let’s look at how Kamal transforms this

The film is based on “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” about 2 strangers becoming friends while travelling. But there ends the similarity.

The film’s lead characters are ‘Anb’arasu and Nalla‘Sivam’. Moreover the 3 lead characters have names that are split into 2. Kamal gets addressed as Mr. Sivam by Maddy and as Nalla by others. Maddy’s name is Anbarasu, while he likes being called A.Ars. Kiran’s name (Bala Saraswati) is addressed as ‘Bala’ by all while Maddy addresses her as ‘Saras’.

I happened to watch this movie First Day First Show. Some scenes that have been deleted from the picture which is not included in the TV versions are:

•  The story happens in Coimbatore. Kamal is representing Tea Estate Workers?? Kamal and Kiran elope to get married in Kerala, which is closer to Cbe
•  In the scene where Kiran secretly meets Kama in the theatre and they decide to elope and get married. After that shot is over, Uma Riyaz confesses her love to Kamal. Poun, who is Kamal’s aid confesses hsi love to Uma Riyaz.
•  In the party at Kiran’s house, Kamal does some art work using food items. When the same is done on PC, Kiran tells him that the version of Software used in Photoshop 5.  Uma Riyaz responds saying that Kamal is well versed in Photoshop 7.

Some more interesting facts

• Madan makes a cameo in the movie as himself. He is the dialogue writer for the movie. He is a well known cartoonist and film critic.
• Yugi Sethu makes a cameo as “Uttamaa”, a petty theif who talks from Ogilvey to M.K. Gandhi in the 2 scenes he comes.
• Kamal learnt how to play the “thavil” for the song.
• In orissa, when Kamal and Maddy share the room, if u notice, u can find one of Kamal’s leg being shorter than the other, which’ll get reiterated in the next scene, when Maddy throws his shoes and Kamal explains his problems.
• In Orissa, when Maddy gets a blow on the head, he tells Kamal that his bloog group is a rare one. Kamal recounts this during the train mishap and makes sure Maddy donates blood to the child. But the gap in the story was, the previous night, Maddy consumes Whiskey in the train with Yugi sethu and an alcoholic cannot donate blood. The boy is shown to die in the movie without any explicit reason.
• Kamal also talks about Tsunami in this movie, when not many were aware about Tsunami at that point. In 2004 Dec, Tsunami hit most parts of the SE Asia. Tsunami was a recurring them in Dasavatharam as well.
• Kamal would wear black/ maroon shirts when he plays the role of a disabled, while in the initial sections, it shall be rolled sleeves light color shirts.
• Kamal essays the role of a person who has mellowed down from a angry man to a person who can see the issues in a ligher vein. Maddy’s role is in line with the initial role of Kamal who expects processes and procedures to be adhered to.
• Many still claim that the movie was Ghost Directed by Kamal, while Sundar C was the original director

I have tried to capture some of the most important aspects of the movie, though each time the movie is seen, there are lot of newer things to learn from this movie and the legend.

K. Balachander is becoming my favorite director belatedly.. as his works are continually impressing me and I am starting to love his films. I knew from childhood that KB is a great director because of his fame and movies, though I was not really feeling them. Now, I am sensing his movies and I feel that it is a pleasure watching them though most of his films has some innate paining emotions in it. I am liking these kind of movies which plays the human character and emotions. KB, I know for sure, is a guru in this area.

Punnagai Mannan happens to be the movie this time which falls in the above class. Definitely, a commendable movie and a must-watch for tamil movie buffs. The main characters were well characterized and handled clearly by KB giving the audience a clear picture of why the hero falls in love again. A director becomes successful when he brings in the feeling, anything it may be, emotions, love, vengeance.. with the audience. And KB has done this many times in his career.

The hero being portrayed as a dancer suited the subject and helped in creating the emotions behind the second love. Otherwise, it would have been very insensible on his side. And, Revathi presented as a bubbly girl was very incisive to the situation.

I appreciate the inclusion of Srilankan issues into the film as you cant see much of these in KB’s works. But though it did not add anything to the subject, it harmed a bit. I firmly feel that the 10 or 20 minutes were been hastily shot or was not planned well. It was the scenes where Revathi was abducted to Srilanka and she comes back to India with some help. Thats where I felt some flaw, otherwise a perfect film. After all the pains, the couple die tragically (ofcourse the villains plan). I wondered what makes a story writer to actually kill or keep the characters alive. Maybe the subject becomes emotionally powerful or the story might stand a class apart from the usuals.

The film’s music is one of the milestone performances by Ilayaraja and suited to the dance-based story. All songs are darn good and are classics of Tamil film music now. “Enna satham indha neram” is the best song, for the music, lyrics and choreography cos thats where the film starts and the director reveals through the song about the perishing act.

Staggering performance from Kamal has helped the film too. The characters and their diversity allowed him to travel the extra mile showcasing his skills. Revathi has done a neat job though its not one of her best.. I remember she performed amazingly in Pudhumai Penn, Vaidhegi Kaathirundhal, Devar Magan and Marupadiyum.. to name a few. Also Delhi Ganesh performed his role aptly.

A painful pleasure.. indeed!

I saw two movies in two days and both directed by K.Balachander, “Varumayin Niram Sigappu” (VNS) and “Moondru Mudichu” (MM). Both were quality movies and excellent screenplays.

VNS was a dry subject and it needed something more than the Bharathiyar poems to keep pace and be lively. Poems makes the most sense to me when they get intertwined with life, and thats the highlight of this movie. The pains of the unemployed and the need to live with the evils in the society are the main things brought out in this film. On the other hand, MM was a real plot (or knots, I should say). Plots with souls and their acts and the mystery is how one reap their sow. The effects of immorality and the need to follow our conscience was shown through this film.

The legend, KB, has thought through the stories well and executed perfectly. I neednt say anything about his abilities and achievements. The missing ones were comedy and nice songs (except “Chippu irukudhu muthum irukudhu”) in both of the movies (and in most of his works).

Rajini’s performance in MM (as Kasi blogged) is really mindblowing. Playing a pivotal and a different character, Rajini would have been the best choice at that time of his career. Not to mention the scenes with cigarettes and stylish Rajini. I can easily say that this his best in what I have seen, the styles with cigarettes were different and also many in number (he also flips the half-smoked cigar in and out of his mouth).

Kamal’s as usual an outstanding acting in VNS, though nothing special to his calibre and his part in MM was very small and became insignificant with Thalaivar’s performance. I liked the touch of atheism and communism to VNS as I always find them interesting.

Sonia Singh: I am joined by one of India’s biggest stars Kamal Haasan, marking his 50 years in the industry. Kamal Hassan, Thank you very much for joining us on Your Call. It’s a pleasure to have you with us on the show.
Kamal Haasan: My pleasure
Sonia Singh: 50 years in the film industry when you are 55. I just want to take you to your first movie. (Clip plays from his movie Kalathur Kannamma). Your dialogue delivery packed quite a punch even at that time. Do you remember that at all? How old were you?

Kamal Haasan: I was 3 or 4 when I went into the studio. And the film took a lot of time and there was a change of director as well. So I got to do scenes twice. I think I was in a theme part and this was the boring part. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and don’t remember the worst part at all.
Sonia Singh: So it was all fun. There was quite a hiatus but after that initial film, at 3-and-a-half or 4, your career took off a little later at 18 and not as a hero.
Kamal Haasan: Yes, but in the meanwhile I did 5 or 6 other films. So I was active till about 7, then there was a retirement. Early retirement I should say.
Sonia Singh: Right. And we have got a call, our first caller from Delhi. He is Raj Singh from Delhi. Mr. Singh, you can ask your question to Mr. Hassan.
Phone caller: Raj Singh: “Sir, my question to you is what inspired you to be a movie director and an actor? Did it come to you naturally, was it really meant to be or do you think it was something that inspired you? And my other question to you is that do you really wish to join politics in future?

Kamal Haasan: Oh yes, like every other Indian I am a politician but I am not that good an actor. That is an old line but that is the only true line. About why I became an actor, I really don’t know. I didn’t plan anything. I sort of just went to the floor. What I enjoyed most was entertaining people, being entertained and probably giving back what I received. When I act, I am giving back to Shivaji Ganesan what I received from him. He may not be around, but it’s sort of a continuous circle but not vicious.
Sonia Singh: But in Tamil Nadu, especially, it seems like a natural transition that a super star like yourself will take the next step that is politics. Why hasn’t it happened with you? You must have something that you are looking ahead to.

Kamal Haasan: Well, you can say that there are two ways to explain it. One is that I am not qualified. The second explanation would be probably I am more sensible.
Sonia Singh: Well, we have got another caller from Chennai. Let’s just go across and have a look.
Video caller- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi: In the sixties, we had political ideologies propagated through films. Do you think that kind of a situation will come again?

Sonia Singh: You said you are not qualified, but there we have a lady, daughter of M Karunanidhi, a Rajya Sabha MP, asking about the link between Tamil cinema and politics which has been integral.

Kamal Haasan: Yes, she is right. And that is why I said that I am political but I am not a politician. I have very strong views. I have a rational approach to life and it is reflected in my films. My politics is probably more subcutis. It is not propagandist. She was right. It’s happening more and more in Tamil cinema. My next film in Tamil has a lot of what she is talking about. But it is not propagandist. It doesn’t take sides.
Sonia Singh: So your films are political but you are not a politician. Let me just go across to somebody who also wants to ask a question, someone who is a political commentator. A well-known film critic Cho Ramaswamy joins us from Chennai.

Sonia Singh: Mr. Cho Ramaswamy, Kamal wants to hear your question.

Cho Ramaswamy: First congratulations on these 50 wonderful years that you have contributed to Tamil cinema. It’s a great thing. I don’t think any other actor has played the different kinds of roles which you have. The amazing versatility which simply cannot be matched. Coming to the specific question, you are now saying that you are not qualified to become a politician. Is there any qualification for you to become a politician? That is perhaps one thing in India which doesn’t require any qualification. Is it because you have too many qualifications that you are not entering politics?

Kamal Haasan: (With a Big Smile)OK, just the moment that I said I am political, there I have Mr. Cho Ramaswamy. I smiled because I am a great fan of his and some of my politics and equipoise that people like me maintain comes from the kind of stand that he boldly took many times. I have seen him since my childhood. I am a fan and he likes people getting into trouble as you saw (laughing).
Sonia Singh: So you don’t want to answer the question?
Kamal Haasan: Absolutely, I am already becoming political.
Cho Ramaswamy: Kamal, the way you are answering my question shows that you are completely qualified to become a politician because you have not given me any answer and have talked for five minutes.

Kamal Haasan: (All Smiles…) Let me borrow some boldness from Mr. Cho and say yes, probably I am qualified and that is why I am not qualified. You already gave the answer. Thanks for leaking the question paper.
Kamal Haasan: Thank you, thank you, sir.
Sonia Singh: You are asked so many times by your fans about joining politics. Other film stars like Rajnikanth have been asked because of the vacuum that is seen in the current politics, Tamil Nadu politics as well. Do you see that?

Kamal Haasan: Yes, but I used to be very angry about it and I gave an answer, seems not too inappropriate. I said there was a time when all Indians, most Indians got into politics, unless they were in civil service or working for the British. The rest of them got into politics. There might be a time when everybody will have to get into it, that would be the time when I would also publicly come  out and actively be in it. But that time we’ll all have guns. I hope it doesn’t happen. I hope you don’t need me in politics. Because when I do come, it will be because we are very very angry.
Sonia Singh: So, the politicians should do  their job to avoid Kamal Haasan in politics. But I mentioned Rajnikanth. So that too, of course, from your profession, acting, and it has been a long long time since we saw you and Rajni in a movie together. I just want to play a clip. (A clip of them together in a movie is played out)
Sonia Singh: Well, I can’t comment on who is the better dancer, but let us know about your relationship with Rajnikanth. It’s hard for two superstars to be friends but what is the relationship like between you two?

Kamal Haasan: It was not hard at all, I think. I don’t know whom to give credit to, but I think it was not hard at all. We still are friends but we are very clear about it. We have drawn our lines and that’s not a battleline at all. It’s a professional line and it was decided by both of us. We realised that one remuneration was split into two when we acted in films and we both were worthy of a full payment. It was actually a labour struggle. So we decided to go our ways. And that was the only reason, there was no ego problem at all. We have a healthy respect for each other and our tracks run different, different fields actually. We don’t even think of each other as competitors but co-travellers with different destinations.

Kamal Haasan: I remember that we used to go around not painting the town red but actually went around Singapore and we had early morning calls and our boss was a very strict man and we would be sleepless. And I remember that we used to lean on each other and sleep while the director was not watching. So, that’s how we grew up. We were from the same institution, same mentor, yeah.

Web cam question from Gopan Krishnan, Pune: Hi Kamal. Without doubt, I reckon, you will always be in my opinion the most versatile and finest actor , about the greatest in Indian cinema. But do you reckon that your mass appeal country-wide would have been far greater and impactful if you had been more advertised and had better and stronger command of the Hindi language?

Sonia Singh: The Hindi language… I just want to look up some clips from that Hindi movie, Ek Duje Ke Liye, because in so many ways you have become known to the Hindi film audience through that.
Sonia Singh: This has been talked about not just in regards to you. But there is a feeling that there is a bias in Mumbai that while South Indian heroines have done extremely well and reached Number 1 posts, somehow the same hasn’t happened with the South Indian heroes

Kamal Haasan: You can’t say that because they have not shut me off. The fact is that one has to live there and pursue. It’s not that I have had less failures, less obstacles in the industry where I have flourished now. The reason has been that I consistently have been trying. I have had my share of failures too, but you will have to keep trying. I stopped trying when there was a lot of underworld involvement in Bombay. I thought I was safer in Madras.
Sonia Singh: Did you feel underworld threats?
Kamal Haasan: Before. I am quick on the take when it comes to that, and I was quick on the draw so I withdrew.
Sonia Singh: Right!
Kamal Haasan: I have the choice. Like ‘Hey Ram’ was something I did on my terms. They allowed me to do it and then now I’ve a script ready. So if you are talking about longevity, they have been very kind to me. I have been there from when I was 26-years-old.
Sonia Singh: Great! Well, someone, of course, has made a choice in Bollywood. Your daughter Shruti . And well, she has got a surprise question for you. She is online with us right now from Pondicherry. Shruti, thank you so much for joining us and go ahead with your question to your dad.
Shruti: Hi Bapu! how are you doing?
Kamal Haasan: Hi!
Shruti: And because I am your daughter, I can be annoying. I am going to ask you how do you say “Thank God, I am a rationalist.”
Kamal Haasan: Ya, that’s to please you baby, because I’ve to accept your god as well. (smiles)
Sonia Singh: You haven’t made your children rationalists?
Kamal Haasan: No, I haven’t tried. I wish I had but doesn’t matter, now it’s too late.
Shruti: We all have our own God, that was my question for you, because I heard you say that, “Thank God, I am a rationalist”.
Kamal Haasan: Well, that’s not my line. That’s from another great filmmaker who said that. He said, “Thank god! I am an athiest.” He is a friend and mentor, Mr. John Clotharia.
Sonia Singh: Shruti, Hi this is Sonia from Delhi studio. I just wanted to ask what is it like making a movie with the huge legacy you bear and what did you find most awkward when your Dad was watching your movie? Were you scared that he is going to be your worst critique or biggest fan?
Shruti: No, no. I don’t think it’s about those, really those clichés with us. I know my father loves me and I know that if I am going to slip and fall, you know, sometimes he will probably let me do that and sometimes his hand will be there before I get to the ground and that’s really what it is about. I feel that I have a lot to learn from his career and not as his daughter but as an artist. And he has always been there for me and I hope that continues because I have learnt a lot and that’s what I intend to do. It’s not about being the biggest fan or the biggest critique at all.
Sonia Singh: Right, I think that’s the nicest thing a daughter can say to her father.
Kamal Haasan: (to Shruti) Did you rehearse well? (all smiles)
Sonia Singh: She couldn’t have because I just asked her that question. No, but I think it’s wonderful. Because a daughter can say that to her father, it’s a great tribute to how you have brought her up.
Kamal Haasan: She has been great and it’s not like we are patting each other’s back. And she has come up with flying colours taking into consideration that she didn’t have a very normal childhood. But I tried my level best and she has got the level.
Sonia Singh: You have always lived life on your own terms and you have had a controversial view, not just on religion but marriage as well. Yet, you have been married twice.
Kamal Haasan: Yes, I always said, like she said, why you did you say, “Thank god! I am an atheist!” That’s because I love people and I do most things to please the people I love, including silly things like marriage. But that’s the only way they would have accepted a relationship. That’s a compromise. And the reason I am not in politics is because it’s an art of compromise. I can compromise, but not that much. But there are compromises. Yes, whenever I married, it was for a compromise and to get the person to be with me. It was a price I was willing to pay, but sometimes it’s a little too much and I can’t afford it.
Sonia Singh: You want to be true to yourself. The bit you said also about the fact that your children, Shruti at least, is a remarkably well-rounded and beautiful young woman. You mentioned about not a normal childhood. And one major thing, and it was scandalous at that time, was that both your children were born before you got married.
Kamal Haasan: That’s right and that’s what it is.
Sonia Singh: So, you decided to go ahead and get married?
Kamal Haasan: Yes! Because later on, even taking a hotel room was difficult. They wanted to know who the other person is. If you say ‘that’s the mother of my children’, that’s not good enough. So you had to say…
Sonia Singh: My wife?
Kamal Haasan: She is my Mrs. and I wanted to know what that ‘Mrs’ meant? It meant mistress. So, it’s sort of a funny circle. I have been asking questions like they keep fighting and saying that’s the oldest institution and how could you say it’s failing just because yours failed. I think it is failing and it is not the oldest institutions and it’s not the strongest holding institutions. The strongest holding institution is the family. You saw that between me and Shruti. That is family. That need not be clarified by something called marriage.
Sonia Singh: But how would you answer the accusation that perhaps it was unfair to the woman in your life, both to your ex-wife Vani and Sarika, who now, in fact, is not in touch with her children anymore?
Kamal Haasan: That’s their decision. I mean only one has children, the other doesn’t. So it’s her decision not to be in touch, probably, with the children. I have an equipoise position. Equipoise on that and they don’t want to be with her. I would facilitate that, but this is the way they want it to be and that’s how it’s going to be. I think they are persons now, they are not children. It’s wrong to address..
Sonia Singh: They are adults.
Kamal Haasan: It’s my point of view to call them children, but ask them from their point of view. They are adults, they can vote. Both of them. They can run the fate of the country, why not their own?
Sonia Singh: Religion. Now that again is something which, especially, in  these times we seem to be becoming more and more rigid about as we go ahead. Not the other way round. It’s controversial to have your views on religion. Why do you think it doesn’t work?
Kamal Haasan: For me it doesn’t work. If you had been at the time of Jesus Christ, you’d be called an atheist, a zealot. The way he spoke, he spoke against the religion, at least to the one he belonged to at that time. It took till 1967 for the Vatican to accept that Mr Christ was a Jew.
Sonia Singh: Yes, of course! And now we have new age zealot.
Kamal Haasan: We have the Gospel according to the Buddhist now and we have many contradictory things about mythology. We confuse our mythology with our history. That’s our problem. And we teach our children that. I have a strong view and I am very happy to be in India and not elsewhere where this won’t be allowed. Am grateful to the nation. If at all, I would like to bow before any powers, it would be my democratic government.
Sonia Singh: We have a web question for you all the way from Atlanta.
Video caller Harshad Methrath, Atlanta: Hi , you are a nationalist. I was just wondering when are you going to make a bold statement like you made in David Mugan or Virumandi, where you made people realise and feel very guilty about the violence they instilled in society. So, I was just wondering when are you going to make your next movie that is as bold as Virumandi. Thank you, that’s my question.
Sonia Singh: Boldness is something that is associated with Kamal Haasan. From Atlanta. Your fans are all over the world.
Kamal Haasan : I am glad he asked that from Atlanta, You have to be far remote to understand or to misunderstand the difficulty that one has. People accused me of my films being violent. I am only a reflector. I am not infusing violence into my society. In fact, on the contrary, society infuses all the violence into me, slowly but steadily. My films’ violence does not decorate or glorify. It makes you thrill and it serves the purpose only that way and I am not allowed to do it. It cramps my style a lot. And about various activists who now come into movies about animals… you go to Rajasthan. You will see camels carrying tons which only trucks can afford to carry. People don’t do anything about that and also everybody consumes chicken.
Sonia Singh: I have got a question from Chennai. Someone I think you know.
Video caller: Khushboo Actor: First and foremost, my heartiest and warmest congratulations to Padmashree Kamal Haasan on his 50 years in cinema. Sir, I am supposed to ask you one question, but knowing you, I can’t stop with one. So there are two questions which are aimed at you. First, what makes Kamal Haasan different from others? Secondly, my next question is, if you were a burglar, what would you like to steal and why?
Kamal Haasan: What I will steal is time, if I can. But that is one thing you can’t burgle. But what makes me different is my family, my parents. They are very different people and my friends and the people I have. They are all very different people. I pick the best of them and hopefully, try to eschew them the bad past. I think that is what makes me different.
Sonia Singh: Mr. Kamal Hassan, you have taken stance a through your life and through your films, not many know. We had Khushboo on asking you questions. We remember the controversy when the self-styled moral police took her on for her comments on the issue of pre-marital sex. You had the same controversy way back for a kiss you did on screen, when MJR said it’s against Tamil culture and you are offending it. Tell us about that controversy?
Kamal Haasan: Fortunately, he was not very vehement or angry about it. He knew me since childhood. He thought it’s a child erring. But I was an adult and it was an adult case. What I am trying to say is, all this moral policing confuses people like me who have heard of Vatsayana and seen Konark, all the sculptures. I think, we are a sexually aware nation much before the rest of the world. Probably China could be an exception. But then, I don’t know what happened. We picked up a lot of bad habits from people who came in and gave us newer cultures. And then we evolved into a confused new culture and we have more confused policing from it. Let me not go into a broader spectrum which is not actually my field. Let me talk about my film industry, look at the censors, and we have Adults-only certificate but we only give them adult-rated stuff.
Sonia Singh: But we have come a long way from the flower before a kiss?
Kamal Haasan: Yes. I mean, how do you think we manage a billion? I mean don’t tell me it’s a stork. I think we have grown up. Adults should see movies akin to what amuses them.  What I would like to remind late Mr. Goldie Anand’s statement for which he was removed from office. He said, “Let there be a Triple X cinema where people go to movies just for the stuff which is the excuse for businessmen, politicians and that’s why we put it in the film. Otherwise, we respect the culture. Let them go to a separate theatre and no, please do not confuse it with the red-light area; I’m not talking about that.” What Mr. Goldie Anand was trying to say, a filmmaker and a sensible one at that, was that the rest of the cinema will not be adult-rated with this kind of stuff. That’s what he was trying to say. He was trying to clean up the act, literally. And he was cleaned out from office.

I mainly rented this movie to catch a glimpse of Paintal, but I also ended up thoroughly enjoying this. I had to double-check the year it was released, because honestly…the film quality, and especially for an Indian film made in the early 80’s, it is incredibly crisp. Possibly one of the best-preserved Hindi films over the age of 20 that I’ve ever seen. It’s even managed to bump the 80’s up a notch in my list. Sadma is a remake of an earlier Tamil film (by about a year) ‘Moondram Pirai.’

It begins with Nehalata (Sridevi) on the beach singing with her friends. Nothing really to gab about, not even a very good song either. Then she gets into a car accident in the middle of the song (I was almost glad, I was beginning to worry it would be a long number) and ends up at the hospital not knowing her parents. The doctor explains that she has what medical professionals would call ‘Amnesia’. Search me why an average person, especially any average middle class Indian who’s probably seen several films with Amnesia plots by the time he or she is in their mid-50s wouldn’t know what amnesia is. Anyway, the doctor promises that in time she will recover her memories. But for the present, she thinks she’s 7 years old. The doctor advises that they take her to a psychiatrist and put her in a nursing home for the time being.

And then we meet Somu (Kamal Haasan) and his friend, Paintal (Paintal). Somu is a nice, timid, virginal schoolteacher. Paintal is a friend of his who hasn’t seen him in awhile…and as you can see, is absolutely dumb-founded that Somu hasn’t had the ‘company of a lady’ as of yet.

I’m not too surprised, though. They’re listening to Abba for god’s sake…

So it’s off to the wonderful land of brothels. What totally shocks me is the lack of dancing girls. Generally you always see them spinning about with groups of men surrounding them…but this place looks somewhat empty and ‘professional’. It’s almost like they’re running a business…but that’s crazy. We all know brothels are pleasant places, where young women willingly entertain men without expecting any form of remuneration in turn. Right?…right?

Since Somu ends up being terribly nervous, shy, and awkward…the madam decides to pair him up with Reshmi. When Reshmi shows her little head, we find out…big shocker, this isn’t Reshmi at all! It’s Nehalata. But how on earth did she end up here?

Somu and ‘Reshmi’ end up alone together in a bedroom. When Somu tries to politely ask her to sit down, she bashes him on the head with a silver cup. Understandably, he’s a bit upset about this. It definitely wasn’t the romantic gesture he was expecting…she apologizes, and begins to cry. And Somu, well…not one for awkward exchanges with innocent prostitutes…decides to leave.

Back at home, we find out how she ended up there. Though her parents have no idea that she’s in a brothel of all places…apparently, Nehalata ran away from the nursing home.

Somu returns and decides to give it another try to get to know Reshmi better. No, not in…that…sort of way. He just feels sorry for her, and a friendship begins to blossom between the two. She even tells him her real name, and explains that a man took her away from the doctor and told her he would take her to see her mother, but instead left her there at the brothel. Watching her tell this story is really heart-breaking. After a bit of thought, Somu decides to pay the madam to take Neha away for the evening…but really, he’s taking her away from that awful place forever. They flee on a train, with ice cream (and Iftekhar too)…never to look back…

Back at Somu’s home in the country, we meet his next door neighbor…a nice little old lady, and Soni (Silk Smitha) who obviously really has a thing for Somu. Now, while she speaks in a ‘smoldering’…I can’t help but wonder if she got ‘sexy’ and ‘strepp throat’ mixed up. She’s his wife’s boss, fyi.

Cue a sweet song with Somu and Neha, which is much better than the first musical number in this movie, it’s really obvious that the two are growing very close. Not in a perverted way, Somu isn’t a jerk…

One day, Somu goes to school and leaves Neha to spend the day alone…but that’s when she meets Balua (Gulshan Grover) and…needless to say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Just look at those conniving eyebrows…I‘m a proponent of the ‘judge people by the bushiness of their facial hair‘ school of thinking. And if that’s anything to go by, then this guy is definitely one of the bad eggs, if you know what I mean. Anyway, afterwards is a dancing monkey to cool the troubled minds of the distressed audience members…so it’s all good.

After a little spat between Neha and Somu, much later…Iftekhar returns to the picture, spotting an ad for the missing Neha in the newspaper. So, alas…the peace in their house with Neha and Somu will not last forever. But what happens next? Watch it yourself and find out, or read another review written by someone else which completely spoils the ending…I’d prefer you watched the movie, but it’s not up to me. Now, I’m going to have to give this movie 8 out of 10 bindis. I’d give it more, but the subtitles were mixed up (for some reason the bottom and top were reversed…) and I just couldn’t stand Soni.

The Madras High Court has restrained Kamal Haasan and Pyramid Saimira Production International Limited from making statements relating to an agreement for producing the film ‘Marmayogi’.

Justice G Rajasuria passed the order on an application by Kamal Haasan and Raaj Kamal Films International, represented by its partner, S. Chandra Haasan, seeking to restrain Pyramid Saimira Production International Limited, from making any statement relating to the contract dated April 2, 2008.

In the affidavit, Kamal said the false accusations made against him by Pyramid Saimira were given wide publicity. Only after he explained the true facts, did the public understand the “falsity of the allegation and the depth of meanness” on the part of the entertainment company’s directors.
“The evil intention behind this smear campaign in an attempt to tarnish my image is to spoil the chances of success of my new picture, Eenadu,” he said and added:

“If the company continued with its tirade, making all kinds of baseless and false allegations against me, I would be put to great hardship.”
Hence, the actor prayed the Court to restrain the defendants from making any statement relating to the MoU without prior permission of the court.

Following is just a small transcript  of the function

Vivek : “I hold the record  of not sharing the screen space with Kamal Hassan for a long long time, and he is also holding the same .Its good that it didn’t happen so far because had I acted with him then I’ll be one among the hundred people who acted with him , where as now I can say proudly that I’m on among the thousands and thousands of Kamal fans”
Like every time he came up with a poem, man it was damn good this time also. That guy is having a witty knowledge I tihnk thats why his slapstick comedy is not that famous, cos he is not a ‘no-brainer ‘

Next , dance performance by “Ungalil Yaar adutha Prabhudeva ” team. It was quite good.

Parthiban :  ” I asked the organizers ‘Why  only film people should talk about Kamal,why not his fan’ and they said’ then you please go and talk ‘ .. well I’m here . The problem is Intelligent people are Kamal’s followers, so I’ve to prove that i’m also  intelligent”

Director Shankar: ” During the shooting of Indian ,I prepared myself very well before each shot ,because I’d the fear that Kamal will ask some question in the shot and will become unhappy if I dint reply him properly,but luckily he dint ask any questions, after the shooting was over one of my assistant who was close with Kamal went to him and asked ‘Sir, we expected atleast some place you will interfere us , but why you dint do that ?” he replied ‘ you people were doing your work properly ‘.I’m really happy to hear that.. Thanks Kamal”

Sruthi Hassan then dedicated a song to Kamal (Nee partha paarvaikku .. Hey ram) , but I wonder wh she changed the tempo of that song so badly , for other songs it worked, may be this particular song dint go well with that Tempo .

Prakash raj : ” If you fall down from sky, fall as a seed, then you can grow tearing the soil apart ,Kamal had done it , I got national award for best actor this year,national award for an actor in year you can get it even if U act in one good movie where as if there is any award that has to be given for century actor then it should be given to you sir.Hats-off “

Ramesh Aravind : “I acted 4 movies with Kamal , one in Kannada remake of sathileelavathi , which I directed,Kamal had donned  the similar role what he had done in Tamil,but in Kannada he asked me for tough accent ,like the Kongu accent he used in the original movie, then I said Hubli accent, Kamal used Hubli accent so perfect  that even the real Hubli people cant differentiate him “

Venkatesh : ” In my college days in Chennai I used to enjoy his movie … “

Mammooty : “Kamal and I are right now tied in the national award winning race with 3 each, lets see who is gonna first win it…. “

Mohanlal: “Over all it was really a pleasant crowd to see”(I missed his part mostly )

Illayaraja: Came and sung a song, nice one, and also said “Kamal may not believe in God, but God believe in Kamal”

Arjun :”He came to Kuruthi punal after some operations even after that he performed his stunts so well , so I ‘ve tell that he is real action King”

Rajinikanth :Like the Climax in Kuselan , Rajinikanth delivered a emotional speech(Vasu Impact…  :) )
“During Avargal shooting I went out , then KB sir came and asked me ‘where you went out, for smoking? go and see Kamal’s acting scenes inside the set,then atleast you will learn some thing’ .People like Mamooty ,Venkatesh,Mohanlal or even Amitabh Bachan, Rajkapoor and all wondered how come a guy like me famous in the cine field where Kamal is acting , my reply was ‘I learnt acting  from him directly’”.

“In 1975 Kamal hassan was more famous than what he is now, at that time I was entering into Cine industry, and Kamal recommended my name for the movie ‘Ilamai oonjaladugiradhu’ , like I said Kamal was very famous, he could ‘ve easily told any director/producer that dont put Rajini in my movie, instead he recommended my name”.

“Later when our movies where very famous, Kamal came and told me ‘Rajini this is the time , we should go in separate ways here after as this Cine industry is having the tradition of giving the movies which we can do together, so there wont be any Identity for us’.I follow what he tells me, we separated and then I also became famous, because I dint take the route what he has taken, I know I cant win him, so I used my brain taken a different route,I succeeded in it as well”.

“Kamal used to tell me ‘Rajini ,Sivaji and MGR are not enemies but Cine Industry and their fans created enmity between them,so we have to make sure that, it shouldn’t happen to us,You work with the directors, producers, technicians whom I work with , I’ll do the same for the producer, director whom u work under’, we are still following it “

“Everyone knows that Endhiran (Robot) was made for Kamal Hassan , but later because of date problems Kamal couldn’t do it, so director Shankar came to me I told him ‘Sir,you’ve written the script with Kamal in mind, so don’t expect me act like him ‘ he replied ‘ sir Am I such an Idiot?,I’ve made enough changes in script for you ‘ .Later when we started shooting the movie, some shots went up to 7 or 8 takes but Shankar wont show any reaction, so I called him again and said ‘Sir please erase from your mind it is me acting in the movie and not Kamal Hassan’ “

Welll Rajini did justice to his Kuselan role in real life as well. Rajini and Kamal proved that bid people are always big people

It really was so touching .

Then finally the Man himself came and said lotta thanks and sorry he received all  the love from audience.. and gave a special Peck to Rajinikanth ..
All I can say was he was visually moved..

Vijay Tv has recently held a grand function for marking Kamal Hassan’s 50th year in Indian Cinema.

I came late from office , about 45 minutes, I’m sure nothing more would have happened except for the red carpet welcome.

I dont have any videos, so I’ll just put down some transcripts of the first part.

The show was basically designed in such a way that famous movie clippings of every decade was shown and Important persons of that era came to stage and showered praise on Kamal hassan.

1960 : AVM Saravanan

” Kamal came to me  and told  that he want to act in a movie, I took him to my father AV Meyyappa chettiar(AVM), after seeing that Kid, he moved the Lamp to his face and said ‘ this guy is going to act in our next movie’,so my father was the one who shown light to Kamal first”

“I admire Kamal and Rajini for their comradrie”

Saroja devi:

“He is my handsome kid………”

1970:

K Balachander: “He keeps telling me that I’m his guru , but even if I dint take him in the movie Arengatram also he would be  a star by now, he is more like a Yugapurush, none before, none will come in near future. “

Sivakumar:” I’m really happy and proud for my brother ,I pray the almighty to wish him all the very best and for the next 5th year celebration as well “

1980:

SPMuthuraman: “Kalathur Kanamma was my first movie as assistant director, and Manorama Achi’s movie as a female comedian , so we can proudly say that its our 50th anniversary function as well.When he was a kid I use to take him walk around the sets showing this is lighting, this room is editing room, this is set.. but after these many years this guy is taking me and showing his collections, this is world cinema, this is how it was shot, really happy to see him “

Prabhu : ” More than me and my brother Ramkumar, Kamal was the one who spent more time with my father, so I can say that Kamal is the real heir for my Dad in acting “

Jayaram : “I can proudly say that before Tamil industry finds Kamal as a hero material we were the one who introduced Kamal as Hero.In my college days I used to do some mimicry , even I got my first award for doing a mimicry like Kamal.I got a chance to act with him in 4 movies so far, I’m really proud of that “

Next came the real show stopper Radhika.. I never expected her to be this much talkative, she didn’t bother about anyone or anything on stage, she was the show stealer so far.

Radhika : ” All are prasing Kamal is this and Kamal is that , can any one dare to  say that, without heroines like us, will any one say that Kamal is ‘Kaadhal Mannan’?… no chance. I acted as his partner after my  10 years in Tamil cine industry ,  every time I see a movie or  movie still with Kamal romancing a heroine I always believe that Kamal loves that girl in real life also, but after acting with him only I came to know that , he can even act sincerely  like he is loving a buffalo(its a compliment ) . I like Kamal Hassan’s eyes very much its so gracious ” after saying that she called upon all heroines on stage .

I like Kamal and Tabu conversation a bit

Tabu :I learnt a lot while working under Kamal, especially how to sit patiently while doing make-up, because he will be sitting in make-up room continuously for 5 hours”

Kamal : Dont worry Tabu, You dont need a make-up

Goutami  : ” I’ve acted only 4 movies with him , after these many years I wanted to say only one thing to him ‘THANKS’ “

Goutami’s speech was too sentimental , Radhika kept introducing her as real life compliemnt for Kamal Hassan.

After receiving the compliments from all heroines Kamal said “I can bravely say that, even with Goutami on stage,(???) ‘I LOVE YOU ALL ‘ “

Radhika with her don’t care attitude surely set the function the cheer tone .

Then SPB and Hariharan made a wonderful , stalling performance on stage , they sung a dozen Kama lsongs. The way they both complimented each other was too nice to hear and see, and the Pianist also enjoyed the improvisations by Hariharan and SPB,it was a perfect Jugal Bandhi

Gopinath Vijay tv compere also used his trademark language and kept the stage alive.

It was really good to see all the big shots of all Industry, who and who of South Indian film Industry came and attended it it really was a multi star extravaganza “

Few of my opinions

May be after spending much time with our CM , he also like people complimenting him on stage may be.

அதாவது உ.போ.ஒ.படம் பற்றி நிறைய பேர் நிறைய விதமாய பேசி இருந்தாலும் இங்கே நான் சொல்லப் போவது அதன் சில சிறப்புகளை மட்டுமே!

சமீபத்திய ‘இந்தியா டுடே-தமிழ்’ இதழில் அநியாயத்துக்கு கால் பக்கம் மட்டும் உ.போ.ஒ பற்றி விமர்சனம் செய்துருந்தார்கள். படிகும் போதே அவர்களின் விமர்சன் கேனத்தனம் புரிந்தது. அதாவது அவர்களால் அவ்வளவுதான் முடியும். 58 வயசு தாத்தாகிட்ட போயி ‘போன வாரம் 18 வயசு குட்டியோட குஜாலா இருந்தியாமே?’ -ன்னு கேட்டா கடுப்பாவாரா மாட்டாரா?

தமிழ் சினிமா வரலாற்றில் பாட்டு இல்லாமல் படம் பார்த்திருக்கோம்(சிவாஜியின் ‘அந்த நாள்’ மாதிரி சில), அட டயலாக்கே இல்லாமலும் பார்த்திட்டோம்(கமலின் ‘பேசும் படம்’), ஃபைட் இல்லாமல் கூட நிறைய படங்கள் பார்த்திட்டோம், சில சமயம் கதையே இல்லாம கூட பல படங்கள் பார்த்திருக்கோம ( வயத்தெரிச்சலை கெளப்பாதீங்க தமிழ்ல பேர் பாதி அப்படித்தான்ங்கறீங்களா?), ஆனா பயங்கரவாதம் பற்றி பேசுகிற படத்தில் ரத்தமின்றி,ஆயுத சத்தமின்றி,டாய்-டூய் என்று சத்யராஜ் கத்தலின்றியும் படம் எடுக்க முடியும-னு நிரூபிக்க கமலை விட்டால் யார் இருக்கா? ( இது ரீ-மேக் தானே என்று நிறைய பே ர் சொன்னாலும், நம்பாலுக பண்ற
ரீ-மேக் படங்களை பாத்ட்டுதானே இருக்கோம். ‘போக்கிரி’ ஒரு ரீ-மேக் தான் என்பதை ஞாபகப்படுத்தனுமா?). ரீ-மேக் படம் பண்ணவும் ஒரு யோக்கியதை வேண்டுமே!

சீனிவாச ராமானுசனுக்கு என்ன வேண்டும்? சிறையில் இருக்கும் 4 பயங்கரவாதிகளை ரூட் போட்டு வெளியில் கொண்டு வந்து குண்டு வைத்து கொலை செய்கிறார் காமன்மேன். “வழக்கு, வாய்தா, பிணை, நீதிமன்றம், மேல்முறையீடு போன்ற உரிமைகள் தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு வழங்கப்படக் கூடாது, பயங்கரவாதிகள் தீவிரவாதிகள் என்றால் உடனே சுட்டுக் கொன்று விடவேண்டும்” என்பதுதான் காமன்மேனின் கருத்து.

பயங்கரவாதிகள் எனப்படுபவர்கள் எப்பேர்ப்பட்ட வில்லன்களாக இருந்தபோதிலும் காமன்மேனுடைய மேற்படி கருத்தை அமல்படுத்த நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் தடையாய் இல்லை. என்கவுன்டர்தான் தீர்ப்பு எனும்போது சாகமுடியாது என்று அவர்கள் தோட்டாவை செரித்துவிட முடியாது. ஆகவே “விசாரிக்காமல் சுடமுடியாது” என்று கூறுவது யாரோ அவர்தான் உண்மையில் காமன்மேனுடைய கோபத்தின் இலக்கு. அதாவது அதுதான் சொல்லிக் கொள்ளப்படும் இந்திய ஜனநாயகம்.

தான் சொல்ல விரும்பிய இக் கருத்தை கமலஹாசன் நேரடியாக, நேர்மையாகச் சொல்லவில்லை. டாக்டர் ராஜசேகர் நடித்த “இதுதாண்டா போலீசு” என்ற திரைப்படம் இந்தக் கருத்தை வெளிப்படையாகவும் கம்பீரமாகவும் வெளியிட்டது. “கைதிகளை சித்திரவதை செய்துதான் குற்றவாளிகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியுமேயன்றி சட்டபூர்வமான வழிகளில் விசாரணை நடத்தி சட்டம் ஒழுங்கை நிலைநாட்ட முடியாது” என்று அந்தப்படம் ‘நேர்மையாக’ பிரகடனம் செய்தது. அப்படிப்பட்ட ‘நேர்மையான’ படங்கள் பல வந்துவிட்டன.

அப்பேர்ப்பட்ட ஒரு நேர்மை கமலஹாசனிடம் இல்லை என்று சொல்லலாம். அல்லது சொல்ல விழையும் செய்தியை உரத்துக் கூறாமல் ஒளித்துச் சொல்வதுதான் கலைக்கு அழகு என்ற காரணத்தினாலும், இந்த கலை ஞானித்தனத்தை (அல்லது களவாணித்தனத்தை) கமல் கைக்கொண்டிருக்கலாம்.

காரணம் எதுவாக இருப்பினும் படத்தின் வில்லன் ‘ஜனநாயகம்’. ஜனநாயகம் என்ற இந்தக் கருதுகோள் திரைப்படத்தில் என்ன கதாபாத்திரத்தை ஏற்றிருக்கிறது?

பப்பட் ஷோவில் முசாரப்பின் பயங்கரவாதத்தை கையாளத் தெரியாத கோழிமாக்கான் புஷ், குண்டு வெடிப்பு பயங்கரவாதம் ஆகியவற்றால் மக்களுக்கு நேரும் துன்பங்களைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப்படாமல் தன் ஆட்சியைப் பற்றி மட்டுமே கவலைப்படும் முதலமைச்சர் (கருணாநிதி), ஜனநாயகத்தின் அதிகாரத்திற்க்கு கீழ்ப்படியுமாறு மோகன்லாலிடம் கூறும் முதுகெலும்பில்லாத தலைமைச் செயலாளர், எதிர்கால முதல்வராக விரும்பும் விஜயகாந்தைப் போன்ற மட்டமான ஒரு நடிகன்… இவர்கள்தான் ஜனநாயகத்தின் பௌதிக வடிவங்களாக படத்தில் சித்தரிக்கப்படுபவர்கள்.

இவர்கள் மட்டுமல்ல. லஞ்சம் வாங்கும் டிராபிக் கான்ஸ்டபிள், தூங்கி வழியும் எஸ்.ஐ முதலான கீழ் வர்க்கத்தினரும் (சாதியும்தான்) எள்ளி நகையாடப்படும் ஜனநாயகத்தின் அங்கங்களாகவே சித்தரிக்கப்படுகின்றனர்.

இவர்கள் எள்ளி நகையாடத் தக்கவர்களா இல்லையா என்பதல்ல கேள்வி. இவர்களை எள்ளி நகையாடும் கதாநாயகன் யார் என்பதுதான் விசயம்.

அதிகாரத்தின் இந்தக் கீழ்த்தரமான ஜனநாயகத்தின் கீழ் பணியாற்றுமாறு சபிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் மோகன்லால், மனைவியை மறந்து மரணத்தை தழுவத் தயாராக இருக்கும் ஐ.பி.எஸ் அதிகாரி, நடமாடும் உருட்டுக் கட்டையான முஸ்லீம் அதிகாரி….அப்புறம் நம்முடைய காமன்மேன் ஆன கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா. இவர்கள்தான் கதாநாயகர்கள்.

இவர்களுடைய கோரிக்கை? அதை மோகன்லால் சொல்கிறார், “எந்தவித குறுக்கீடுகளும் இல்லாத அதிகாரம்”. அந்த அதிகாரத்தை தங்களுக்கு வழங்கும் பட்சத்தில் பயங்கரவாதத்திலிருந்து மக்களை அவர்கள் பாதுகாப்பார்களாம்.

அரசியல் குறுக்கீடுகள் அற்ற அதிகாரம்! இந்த சொற்றொடரை அநேகமாக எல்லா  துக்ளக் இதழ்களிலும் நீங்கள் படித்திருக்க்கலாம். இத்தகைய அதிகாரத்தை ஐ.ஏ.எஸ், ஐ.பி.எஸ் அதிகாரிகளுக்கு வழங்காததனால்தான் இந்தியாவின் பொருளாதாரம் முதல் போக்குவரத்து வரை அனைத்துமே புழுத்து நாறுகிறது என்பதுதான் ‘சோ’ வர்க்கத்தின் கருத்து. இவர்களை இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் சுரண்டினால் ‘தகுதியான’ ஐ.ஏ.எஸ் ஆக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் அடிக்கோடிட்டுக் காண்பிப்பார்கள்.

அர்சத் மேத்தா முதல் அமெரிக்காவின் சப்-பிரைம் மோசடிக்கான சூத்திரத்தை உருவாக்கிய எம்.ஐ.டி கோல்டு மெடலிஸ்டுகள் வரையிலான எத்தனை ஆதாரங்களைக் காட்டினாலும் இவர்கள் தங்கள் பொய்ப் பிரச்சாரத்தை நிறுத்த மாட்டார்கள். ஆகவே இவர்களைப் பொருத்தவரை சில்லறை அரசியல்வாதிகளின் குறுக்கீடுகள்தான் பயங்கரவாதம் தலையெடுக்கவும், தலைவிரித்தாடவும் காரணம். ஆகவே அதிகார வர்க்கத்திற்க்கு முழு அதிகாரம் வழங்கினால் அடுத்த கணமே பயங்கரவாதத்தை அவர்கள் ஒழித்து விடுவார்கள்.

அத்வானி முதல் ஆக்ஷன் கிங் அர்ஜூன் வரையிலான பலராலும் பல்லாயிரம் முறை கூறப்பட்டு மக்களுடைய பொதுப்புத்தியில் இந்தப் பொய் உறைய வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. எனவேதான் அசாதாரமான ரவுத்திரம் கொண்டு நான்கு பேரை குண்டு வைத்து கொலை செய்யும் இந்தப் படத்தில் குற்றவாளிகளின் ‘கொடுரமான’ குற்றங்களையோ, அல்லது அதனால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட காமன்மேனின் துயரத்தையோ கோடம்பாக்கத்திற்கே உரிய சென்டிமெண்ட் காட்சிகளின் மூலம் நியாயப்படுத்த இந்தத் திரைப்படம் முயற்சிக்கவில்லை. ‘நியாயம்’ மக்களுடைய மூளைகளில் ஏற்கனவே உறைந்திருப்பதால் தீர்ப்பு மட்டுமே தேவையாய் இருக்கிறது.

சென்டிமெண்ட் காட்சிகள் இல்லாத போதிலும் இப்படம் ரசிகர்களை ஈர்ப்பதற்குக் காரணம் மோகன்லாலுக்கும் கமலஹாசனுக்கும் இடையில் நடக்கும் இந்தச் சதுரங்க ஆட்டம் ஒரு திரில்லரைப் போல விறுவிறுப்பாக கொண்டு செல்லப்படுகிறது. ப்ரூஸ் வில்லீஸ் நடித்த “டை ஹார்டு” வரிசைப்படங்களில் ஹீரோவுக்கும் வில்லனுக்கும் நடக்கும் ஆட்டம் இங்கே ஹீரோக்களுக்கிடையே நடக்கிறது. ஆட்டத்தின் காய் நகர்த்தல்களில் மனதைப் பறிகொடுக்கும் இரசிகர்கள் வெட்டப்படும் காய்கள் மனிதர்கள் என்பதையும் கூட மறந்து விடுகிறார்கள். ஒரு குத்தாட்டப் பாடலின் அருவெறுப்பான பாடல் வரிகளை கவனிக்காமல் தாளக்கட்டு வழியாக தன்னைப் பறிகொடுக்கும் இரசிகன் போல படத்தின் வடிவம், இரசிகனை கொக்கி போட்டு இழுத்துச் செல்கிறது. விறுவிறுப்பான கதை, நேர்த்தியான எடிட்டிங், என்று இந்தப் படத்தை விதந்து எழுதுபவர்கள் வழுக்கி விழுந்த இடம் இதுதான்.

பயங்கரவாதிகளை கொடிய மிருகங்களுக்கு ஒப்பிட்டு கமலஹாசன் சாடவில்லை. அவர்களை கரப்பான் பூச்சிகளுக்கு ஒப்பிடுகிறார். இந்தக் கொலை கரப்பான் பூச்சிகளை நசுக்குவதைப் போல முக்கியத்துவம் அற்றது. அந்த உயிர்கள் வெறும் பூச்சிகள். இந்தப் பூச்சிகளைக் கொலை செய்த கையோடு தக்காளி பையுடன் வீட்டிற்குப் போய் மணக்க மணக்க சாப்பிட முடியும் – லாக்கப்பில் ரத்தம் சொட்டச் சொட்ட கைதியை அடித்துக் கூழாக்கிவிட்டு இரவில் மனைவியைத் தழுவும் அதிகாரியைப் போல. கரப்பான் பூச்சிகள்! சாதரண மனிதர்களையும் சிறு குற்றவாளிகளையும் ஏன் மொத்தக் குடிமக்களைப் பற்றியும் ஒரு ஐ.பி.எஸ் அதிகாரி கொண்டிருக்கும் கருத்து இதுதான்.

அதை கமலஹாசன் சொல்கிறார். ” இந்த பயங்கரவாதிகள் என் அளவுக்கு புத்திசாலிகள் அல்ல” என்கிறார். புத்திசாலித்தனம் என்ற சொல் இங்கே பயன்படுத்தப்படுவது எவ்வளவு விகாரமாக இருக்கிறது? பிக்பாக்கட் – ஒரு கரப்பான் பூச்சி, முட்டாள். ஹர்ஷத் மேத்தா – புத்திசாலி. பயங்கரவாதிகளை படுபயங்கரமாக சித்தரிப்பதற்காக அல்கைதா சர்வதேசத் தொடர்பு என்றெல்லாம் அடுக்கி பீதியூட்டும் அதே வர்க்கம் அவர்களை நசுக்கப்பட வேண்டிய அற்ப ஜந்துக்களாகவே கருதுகிறது. இந்தக் கருத்தில் மோகன் லாலுக்கும் மற்ற ஐ.பி.எஸ் அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் காமன்மேனுக்கும் இடையில் எந்த வேறுபாடுமில்லை. காமன்மேன் என்பவன் போலீஸ் மேன் மோகன்லாலின் ஆல்டர் ஈகோ. அதனால்தான் இறுதிக் காட்சியில் கிட்டத்தட்ட கமலின் காலில் விழுகிறார் மோகன்லால்.

கதையின் முதன்மையான கரு பாசிசம். வெளிப்படையாகவும் அருவெறுக்கத்தக்க முறையில் துருத்திக் கொண்டும் இந்துத்வக் கருத்தும் முசுலீம் வெறுப்பும் படத்தில் திணிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த போதும், அவை இல்லாமலேயே கூட இத்திரைப்படம் இந்துத்வ பாசிசத்தை இயல்பாக வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது.

ஹேராம் படத்தில் முசுலீம் வெறியர்களால் தன் மனைவி கற்பழித்து கொல்லப்பட்டதனால்தான் இந்து தீவிரவாதியாக தான் மாற நேர்ந்ததாக மிகவும் விலாவாரியாக சித்தரிக்கும் கமல் அந்த நியாயத்தை முசுலீம் தீவிரவாதத்திற்கு வழங்கவில்லை. கோவை குண்டு வெடிப்பிற்காக கைது செய்யப்பட்ட தீவிரவாதி அதற்கு காரணம் பெஸ்ட் பேக்கரி சம்பவம் என்று காலத்தால் பிந்தைய ஒன்றை கூறுகிறார். கமல் சினிமாவிற்காகவே வாழ்பவர். பெர்ஃபெக்ஷனிஸ்ட். நாற்பதுகளின் கொல்கத்தாவை கண் முன்னால் கொண்டு வருவதற்காக கோடிக்கணக்கில் செலவு செய்து செட் போட்டவர். அப்பேற்பட்ட கமலின் படத்தில் இவ்வளவு அலட்சியமான பிழை எப்படி நேர்ந்தது, ஏன் நேர்ந்தது?

போலீசு தாக்கல் செய்யும் குற்றப்பத்திரிகைகளில் ஏன் ஏகப்பட்ட ஓட்டைகள் இருக்கின்றன? ஏனென்றால் குற்றவாளிகளை லாக்கப்பில் அவர்கள் ஏற்கனவே தண்டித்து விடுகிறார்கள். அப்புறம் இரண்டு மாதம் ரிமாண்டு. போலீசைப் பொறுத்தவரை தீர்ப்பு தண்டனை எல்லாம் முடிந்து விட்டது. நீதிமன்றம் என்பது அவர்களைப் பொறுத்தவரை ஒரு தவிர்க்க முடியாத அசவுகரியம். அதனால்தான் அலட்சியம்.

ஒரு முசுலீமை தீவிரவாதி என்று காட்டுவதற்கு “அவன் தாடி வைத்திருந்தால் போதாதா, அதற்கு மேல் என்ன சாட்சியங்கள், பின்புலங்கள், நியாயங்கள் வேண்டும்” என்பதுதான் இந்தத் திரைப்படத்தின் பார்வை.

1947க்கு முந்தைய இந்து முசுலீம் கலவரங்களில் இருதரப்பிலும் பல அட்டூழியங்கள் நடந்தன. அதன்பின் இந்தியாவில் சிறுபான்மையாகிவிட்டதால் திருப்பியடிக்கும் சமூக வலிமையை இசுலாமிய சமூகம் இழந்திருந்தது. 90 களுக்குப்பிறகு இந்து மதவெறியர்களுக்கு பதிலடி என்ற பெயரில் குண்டு வெடிப்புக்கள் நடக்க ஆரம்பித்தன். இதில் அப்பாவி மக்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டார்கள் என்ற போதிலும் இந்து மதவெறியர்களைப் போல கற்பழிப்பு, உயிரோடு எரிப்பு முதலான சமூகமே நடத்தும் கலவரங்களில் இசுலாமிய தீவிரவாதிகள் ஈடுபடவில்லை. அதற்கு வாய்ப்பும் இல்லை.

கடைசிக் காட்சியில் காமன்மேன் கமல் மிக உருக்கமாக வருணிக்கும் கருவறுத்த கதையே ஒரு முசுலீம் பெண்ணுக்கு இந்து வெறியர்கள் இழைத்த கொடுமைதான். 2002 குஜராத் முசுலீம் மக்கள் மீது நிகழ்த்தப்பட்ட இனப்படுகொலையில் கவுசர்பானு என்ற பெண்ணின் மேற்சொன்ன கதையைப் போல பலநூறு கதைகள் உள்ளன. கவுசர்பானுவின் பிறப்புறுப்பில் கையை விட்டு கருக்குழந்தையை எடுத்து அந்தப் பெண்ணை கொல்லுமளவு இந்து மதவெறி தலைவிரித்தாடியது. இதை செய்தவர்கள் இந்து மதவெறியர்கள் என்ற உண்மையை மறைப்பதோடு “இந்த சம்பவம் ஒரு இந்துவுக்கு நடந்திருந்தால் என்ன, ஒரு முசுலீமுக்கு நடந்திருந்தால் என்ன” என்று மத நல்லிணக்கம் பேசி இரண்டு சொட்டு கண்ணீர் விடுகிறார் கமல். இதுதான் பார்ப்பன நரித்தந்திரம். இசுலாமியர்களுக்கு நடந்த அநீதியையே இசுலாமிய தீவிரவாதிகளைக் கொல்வதற்கு பயன்படுத்தும் இந்த மோசடிக்கு பார்வையாளர்களை சுலபமாக வென்றெடுக்கலாம் என்பது கமலின் துணிபு. அதை இந்தப் படத்தை பார்ப்பவர்கள், பாராட்டியவர்கள் நன்றியுடன் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

மேலவளவு சம்பவத்தில் தேவர் சாதி பஞ்சாயத்து தலைவரை தலித் மக்கள் கொலை செய்து விட்டதாக காட்டினால் எப்படியிருக்குமோ அப்படித்தான் உன்னைப் போல ஒருவனும் இசுலாமிய பயங்கரவாதம் பற்றி கூச்சமில்லாமல் பொய் பேசுகிறது. ஆனால் பார்வையாளர்கள், பதிவுலகில் விமரிசனம் எழுதிய பலரும் இது குறித்தெல்லாம் அக்கறைப்படவில்லை என்பது இந்த படம் தோற்றுவித்திருக்கும் அபாயகரமான பிரச்சினையாகும். இவர்களின் அக்கறையின்மை என்பது இசுலாமிய பயங்கரவாதம் குறித்த ஊடகங்களின் பொய்யான புனைவுகளில் நிலைகொண்டிருக்கிறது என்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.

கவுசர்பானுபோல கீதாபென் என்ற இந்துப்பெண் தனது முசுலீம் கணவனை காப்பாற்றப்போய் இந்து மதவெறியர்களால் நிர்வாணமாக்கப்பட்டு கொலை செய்யப்படுகிறார். இதுவும் குஜராத் இனப்படுகொலையில் நடந்த உண்மைதான். ஒரு முசலீமின் விந்து கரு ஒரு இந்துப்பெண்ணின் கருப்பையில் நுழைவதா என்ற அளவுக்கு இந்து மதவெறி குஜராத்தில் தலைவிரித்தாடியது. இன்றைக்கும் முசுலீம் ஆண்களை திருமணம் செய்யும் இந்துப்பெண்களுக்கு எதிராக இந்துப்பெண்களின் ‘கவுரவத்தை’ காப்பாற்றுவதற்காக ஒரு இயக்கத்தையே இந்துமதவெறியர்கள் வட இந்தியாவில் நடத்துகிறார்கள். இந்த சமீபத்திய வரலாற்றின் துயரங்களை தெரிந்து கொண்டால்தான் கமலின் ‘இந்துவுக்கு நடந்தால் என்ன, முசுலீமுக்கு நடந்தால் என்ன’ என்று பேசும் ‘தத்துவ அயோக்கியத்தனத்தை’ புரிந்து கொள்ளமுடியும்.

கவுசர்பானுவின் கதையை கேட்டு உருகி பழிவாங்க நினைத்தால் குஜராத்தின் மோடியையோ, அதற்கு உதவியாக இருந்த போலீசு, அதிகார வர்கக்த்தையோ பழிவாங்கியிருக்க வேண்டும். மாறாக இந்த அநீதிகளை இந்த நாட்டின் சட்ட அரசியல் அமைப்பு தண்டிக்கவில்லை என்று பொறுமி இசுலாமிய தீவிரவாதம் குண்டுவெடிப்பின் மூலம் எதிர்வினையாற்றுகிறது. கமலோ, கவுசர்பானுவின் துயரத்தையே திருடி இசுலாமிய தீவிரவாதிகளுக்கு குண்டு வைக்கிறார். அதற்காக மொட்டை மாடியிலிருந்து ஆவேசப்படுகிறார். தனது நடவடிக்கையை நியாயப்படுத்துகிறார்.

ஆனால் உண்மையான குஜராத்தின் யதார்த்தம் வேறுமாதிரி. 2000த்திற்கும் குறைவில்லாத முசுலீம்களை படுகொலை செய்த கும்பலுக்கு தலைமை வகித்த மோடி மீண்டும் முதலமைச்சராக தெரிவு செய்யப்படுகிறார். இந்நிலைமையில் ஒரு சராசரி முசுலீமின் மனநிலை எப்படியிருக்கும்?

ராகேஷ் ஷர்மாவால் எடுக்கப்பட்ட குஜராத் இனப்படுகொலையை விவரிக்கும் பைனல் சொலியூஷன் (FINAL SOLUTION) என்ற ஆவணப்படத்தின் இறுதியில் ஒரு ஐந்து வயது முசுலீம் சிறுவன் பேசுகிறான். தனது உறவினர்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டதை நேரில் பார்த்தவனிடம் எதிர்காலத்தில் நீ என்னவாக வர விரும்புகிறாய் என்று சர்மா கேட்கிறார். அதற்கு அவன் தான் ஒரு போலீசாக வர விரும்புவதாக கூறுகிறான். ஏன் என்று கேட்கிறார் சர்மா. இந்துக்களை கொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று மழலை மொழியில் கூறுகிறது அந்தக் குழந்தை.

கலவரங்களை கண்ணால் கண்டு மனதில் தேக்கி வைத்திருக்கும் ஒரு குழந்தையே இப்படி பேசுகிறது என்றால் இசுலாமிய பயங்கரவாதம் ஏன் குண்டு வைக்காது? இந்த யதார்த்தத்தை கமல் கேலிசெய்கிறார் அல்லது நிராகரிக்கிறார்.

முசுலீம் தீவிரவாதிகளை கொல்வதற்கு ஆவேசத்துடன் செயல்படும் கமல் தன்னை ஒரு இந்து என்று நேர்மையாக சொல்லியிருக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் “நீ ஒரு இந்துவா முசுலீமா என்ற மோகன்லாலின் கேள்விக்கு, ” ஏன் நான் ஒரு ஒரு பௌத்தனாகவோ, நாத்திகனாவோ, கம்யூனிஸ்ட்டாகவோ இருக்கக் கூடாதா” என்கிறார் கமல். இதுதான் கமல் பிராண்ட் களவாணித்தனம். ஆர்.எஸ்.எஸ் கூட முசுலீம்களுக்கெதிராக இந்துக்களுக்குத்தான் கோபம் வரவேண்டும் என்று சொல்கிறது. கமலோ இந்தக் கோபம் இந்துக்களுக்கு மட்டுமல்ல மற்ற அனைவருக்கும் வரவேண்டும் என்கிறார். காமன்மேன் ஆர்.எஸ்.எஸ்-ஐ விஞ்சுகிறார்.

இரா.முருகனின் அசட்டுத்தனம் காரணமாகவும் கமலின் திமிர்த்தனம் காரணமாகவும் தங்களை அடையாளம் காட்டிக்கொள்கிற இத்தகைய சில வசனங்களும் காட்சிகளும் இந்தப் படத்தில் இடம் பெற்றிருக்கின்றன. ஒருவேளை இவை இல்லை என்றாலும் இது ஒரு இந்துத்வ பாசிஸ்ட் திரைப்படம்தான். இந்திய அரசும் அதிகார வர்க்கமும் தன்னியல்பாக இந்துத்வத்தை வரித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் இன்றைய சூழலில் அதிகார வர்க்கத்திற்கு அதிகாரம் கொடு என்ற கோரிக்கையே நடைமுறையில் ஒரு இந்துத்வ கோரிக்கைதான். தங்களுடைய சொத்து சுகங்களை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்று பச்சையாக முதலாளிகள் எந்தக் காலத்தில் கோரியிருக்கிறார்கள்? சட்டம் ஒழுங்கை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்றுதான் அவர்கள் கோருவார்கள், கூறுவார்கள். அதுதான் இது, இதுதான் அது. காஷ்மீர் முதல் கோவை வரை முசுலீமாகப் பிறந்த ஒரே குற்றத்திற்காக சிறையில் வாடும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான அப்பாவிகளின் கதை வெறும் கதையல்ல. நீதிமன்றங்களில் நீருபிக்கப்பட்ட உண்மை.

காஷ்மீர், குஜராத், கோவை, புலிகள் அனைத்திலும் அதன் அரசியல் காரணங்கள் கழுவி நீக்கப்பட்டு வெறும் பயங்கரவாதம் என்று பேசப்படும் வக்கிரத்தை கமலும் செய்கிறார். இந்த பயங்கரவாத விளக்கத்தில் ஏகாதிபத்திய எதிர்ப்பிற்காகவும், தேசிய இனவிடுதலைக்காகவும் போராடும் ஹமாஸ், ஹிஸ்புல்லா போன்ற இயக்கங்களும் சேர்க்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. இதன் மூலம் இசுலாம் பெயர் கொண்ட அனைத்து இயக்கங்களும் பயங்கரவாதிகளாக சித்தரிக்கப்படுகின்றன. இந்த வகையில் இந்தப்படம் ஒடுக்கப்படும் மக்களுக்கெதிராகவும் தன்னை காட்டிக் கொள்கிறது.

மீனம்பாக்கத்தில் நடந்த குண்டு வெடிப்பு, ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூரில் நடந்த ராஜிவ் காந்தியின் கொலை எல்லாம் மறக்கப்பட்டதாக கமல் கவலைப்படுகிறார். மாறாக இதைச் சொல்வதன்மூலம் ஈழமக்களின் உரிமைப் போராட்டத்தையும் மறக்கச் சொல்கிறார். அதன்மூலம் ஈழத்தமிழர்களின் சுயநிர்ணய உரிமைக்கான போராட்டம் ஒரே வரியில் பயங்கரவாதமாக மாற்றப்படுகிறது. குண்டு வெடிப்புகள் குறித்து மக்கள் மறக்கிறார்கள் என்று கவலைப்படும் கமல் கோவை காவலர் செல்வராசு கொலைக்குப்பின் நடந்த முசுலீம் எதிர்ப்பு கலவரத்தையோ, குஜராத் இனப்படுகொலையையோ மக்கள் மறந்து விட்டதாக கவலைப்படவில்லை. ஏனெனில் இந்துமதவெறியர்கள் எதைக் கவலைப்படவேண்டுமென நினைக்கிறார்களோ அவைதான் கமலின் கவலையும் கூட.

எல்லாவற்றிலும் அரசியல் காரணங்களை கழுவிவிட்டு பயங்கரவாதமாக சித்தரிப்புது ஒன்று. இரண்டாவதாக இந்த பயங்கரவாதங்களை ஜனநாயக முறையில் எதிர்கொள்ளமுடியாது, எதிர்பயங்கரவாதத்தினால்தான் முறியடிக்க முடியும் என்பது. மூன்றாவது இந்த பாசிச முறையை பெருமைப்படுத்துவது. இது ஏதோ முசுலீம், ஈழம் பற்றி மட்டுமல்ல, நேபாளில் மாவோயிஸ்ட்டுகள் பயங்கரவாதம், இந்தியாவில் நக்சலைட்டுகள் பயங்கரவாதம், இப்படி எல்லாவற்றையும் பயங்கரவாதமுத்திரை குத்துவது யாருக்கு சேவையளிக்கிறது?

உலகமெங்கும் பிரச்சினையாக கருதப்படும் இசுலாமிய பயங்கரவாதம் படத்தின் தீவிரவாதி சொல்வது போல காஃபீர்களை அழிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற இசுலாமிய மதவெறியிலிருந்து உருவாகவில்லை. ஒவ்வொரு நாட்டிற்கும், பகுதிக்கும் தனித்தனியான வரலாற்றுக்காரணங்கள் உள்ளன. ஆப்கானை ஆக்கிரமித்திருந்த சோவியத் சமூக ஏகாதிபத்தியத்தை அகற்றுவதற்காக தாலிபான்களையும், பின்லாடனையும் வளர்த்து விட்டது அமெரிக்கா. காஷ்மீர் மக்களின் போராட்டத்தை, ஆரம்பத்தில் மதச்சார்பற்றதாக இருந்த இயக்கங்களை மதவாதத்தில் மூழ்கவைத்து சிதைக்கும் வேலையை இந்திய அரசு செய்தது. பின்னர் பாக்கிஸ்தான் அதை நன்கு பயன்படுத்திக்கொண்டது. இந்தியாவின் பல இடங்களில் நடக்கும் குண்டு வெடிப்புகளுக்கு இந்துமதவெறியர்களின் கலவரங்கள் காரணமாக இருக்கின்றன. கோவை  குண்டுவெடிப்பெல்லாம் பாக்கின் மேற்பார்வையில் நடக்கவில்லை. நியாயம் கிடைக்காத முசுலீம் இளைஞனின் கோபமே அதை சாத்தியமாக்குவதற்கு போதுமானதெனும்போது ஐ.எஸ்.ஐக்கு என்ன தேவை இருக்கிறது?

பாலஸ்தீனின் ஹமாஸ், லெபனானின் ஹிஸ்புல்லா, ஈராக்கின் போராளிகள் எல்லாரும் ஏகாதிபத்திய எதிர்ப்புக்காக போராடுகிறார்கள். இவர்கள் எல்லோரையும் முசுலீம் பயங்கரவாதம் என சித்தரிப்பது கடைந்தெடுத்த அயோக்கியத்தனமாகும்.

அமெரிக்காவையும், இந்துமதவெறியர்களையும் எதிர்ப்பதற்கு இசுலாமியத் தீவிரவாதத்தின் செயல்கள், வழிமுறைகள் தவறு என்பது வேறு. அதன் வரலாற்றுக்காரணத்தை புரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் மொத்தமாக பயங்கரவாதிகள் என்று காட்டுவது நாட்டில் எந்த அமைதியையும் கொண்டுவந்து விடாது. கமல் முன்வைக்கும் பாசிச அரசு வந்தாலும் இந்த எதிர்வினைகளை அடக்கிவிடமுடியாது. மாறாக இந்தப் பிரச்சினைகள் மட்டுமல்ல எல்லாப் பிரச்சினைகளுக்கும் போராடும் ஜனநாயக, புரட்சிகர சக்திகளை ஒடுக்குவதற்கே அந்த பாசிசம் பயன்படும்.

90களின் ஆரம்பத்தில் நடந்த பம்பாய் கலவரத்தில் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான முசுலீம்களை கொலை செய்த சிவசேனாவின் பங்கை மறுக்கும் விதமாக இந்து, முஸ்லீம் இருதரப்பினரும் கலவரம் செய்ததாக மணிரத்தினத்தின் பம்பாய் படம் சித்தரித்திருந்தது. இதைக்கண்டித்து ம.க.இ.கவும் சில இசுலாமிய அமைப்புகளும் ஆர்ப்பாட்டங்கள் நடத்தின. அதன் பிறகு இந்தப் பணியை தொடர முடியாத அளவுக்கு நூற்றுக்கணக்கான படங்கள் முசுலீம் தீவிரவாதத்தை வைத்து வெளிவந்துவிட்டன. இந்தப் படங்களின் நாயகர்கள் காஷ்மீருக்கும், பாக்கிற்கும் சென்று முசுலீம் பயங்கரவாதிகளை அழித்து வந்தார்கள். அப்படித்தான் பொதுப்புத்தியிலும் “முசுலீம்கள் அனைவரும் தீவிரவாதிகள் அல்ல. ஆனால் எல்லா தீவிரவாதிகளும் முசுலீம்கள்தான்” என்று அழுத்தமாக பதிய வைக்கப்பட்டது.

இது இசுலாமிய பயங்கரவாதம் குறித்த பிரச்சினை மட்டுமல்ல இன்று தனியார்மயம், தாராளமயம், உலகமயத்தின் காலத்தில் வாழ்க்கைப்பிரச்சினைகள் , தற்கொலைகள், வேலையிழப்பு அதிகரித்து வரும் நிலையில் எல்லா அரசுகளும் அதற்கு மாற்றாக பயங்கரவாதங்களை எதிரிகளாக வைத்து மக்களைக் காப்பாற்றுவதாக சித்தரிக்கின்றன. அமெரிக்காவில் வீடுகளை ஜப்தியில் இழப்பதை விட ஆப்கானில் பின்லேடனைத் தேடுவது முக்கியமானது; விதர்பாவில் விவசாயிகள் தற்கொலை செய்வதை விட காஷ்மீரில் இராணுவத்தை குவித்து மக்களை ஒடுக்குவது முக்கியமானது; இலங்கையில் பொருளாதாரம் போரினால் ஆட்டம் கண்டாலும் புலி ஆதரவாளர்களை முற்றிலும் ஒழிப்பது என்பதற்காக இராணுவத்தை இரண்டுமடங்காக பெரிதுபடுத்துவது முக்கியமானது, தொழிலாளிகள் இழந்து வரும் தொழிற்சங்க உரிமைகளைவிட தடா, பொடா போன்ற சட்டங்களைக் கொண்டு வருவது முக்கியமானது…

இப்படித்தான் உலகெங்கும் அரசுகள் மெல்ல மெல்ல பாசிசமயமாகி வருவதை நியாயப்படுத்திக் கொள்கின்றன. முதலாளித்துவத்தால் ஊழல்படுத்தப்பட்டு மக்கள் மத்தியில் செல்வாக்கிழந்து போன தங்களது வளர்ப்பு பிள்ளைகளான அரசியல்வாதிகளை அப்புறப்படுத்துவது என்ற பெயரில் பெயரளவிலான ஜனநாயகத்தையும் ஆளும் வர்க்கங்கள் அப்புறப்படுத்திவருகின்றன. கரப்பான் பூச்சிகளான மக்களால் தெரிவு செய்யப்படும் பிரதிநிதிகளைக் காட்டிலும், புத்திசாலிகளான தொழில்முறை அதிகாரவர்க்கத்தின் கையில் அதிகாரத்தை ஒப்படைப்பதும் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது.

நம்நாட்டிற்கு ஓட்டுப்போடும் உரிமை வந்த காலத்தில் ஆயிரம், இரண்டாயிரம் ஏக்கரை பரம்பரை சொத்தாக வைத்திருக்கும் மூப்பனார்கள், வாண்டையார்கள்தான் மக்கள் பிரதிநிதிகளாக முடியும் என்றும், அவர்களுக்கு ஏழுதலைமுறைக்கு சொத்து இருப்பதால் பொதுப்பணத்தில் கைவைக்க மாட்டார்கள் என்றும் ஒரு பிரச்சாரம் அடிமை மக்கள் மத்தியில் செல்வாக்கு பெற்றிருந்தது. சலூன் கடைக்காரனும், டீக்கடைக்காரனும் அரசியலுக்கு வந்தால் லஞ்சம் வாங்காமல் என்ன செய்வான் என்று காங்கிரசுகாரர்களும் சோ முதலானோரும் அன்றும் இன்றும் பேசிவருகிறார்கள்.

இன்று அதே பாட்டுக்கு புது மெட்டு போடப்படுகிறது. மன்மோகன் சிங்கும், மான்டெக் சிங் அலுவாலியாவும், நந்தன் நீலகேணியும் அரசியல்வாதிகள் இல்லை என்பதே அவர்களுக்குரிய விசேட தகுதியாகிவிட்டது. கமலும் கூட மோகன்லால்களிடம் அதிகாரத்தை கொடுப்பதே சரியானது என இந்தப்படத்தில் வலியுறுத்துகிறார்.

அதனால்தான் மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்திக் கூறுகிறோம். இந்தப்படம் முசுலீம் எதிர்ப்பு என்று மட்டும் புரிந்து கொள்ளக்கூடாது. அடிப்படையில் இது பாசிச மனோபாவத்தை ஆதரிக்கிறது என்பதையும் உணர்ந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

இனி முசுலீம் தீவிரவாதிகளை வேட்டையாடுவதற்கும், ஜனநாயகத்தை வேட்டையாடுவதற்கும் நாயகர்கள் தேவையில்லை, காமன்மேனே போதும் என்கிறது உன்னைப் போல் ஒருவன். முசுலீம் தீவிரவாதத்தை ஒழிக்க நினைக்கும் (இந்து) நடுத்தரவர்க்கம் கூடவே பாசிசத்தையும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளும் மனநிலைக்கும் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டிருப்பதால் திரையரங்கில் அத்தகைய வசனங்களுக்கு இரசிகர்கள் கைதட்டுகிறார்கள். வெளியில் பிளாக்கில் டிக்கெட் வாங்கிக் கொண்டு உள்ளே நுழையும் இந்தக் காமன்மேன்கள் இருட்டில் கைதட்டுவது குறித்து கூச்சப்படுவதில்லை. பிளாக் டிக்கெட் விற்பதை ஒழிக்கவேண்டும் என்ற சத்திய ஆவேசம் காமன்மேனுக்கு வரும்போது அவர் டிக்கெட் விற்கும் கரப்பான் பூச்சிகளை சுட்டுத்தள்ளுவார். ஜெய் ஹிந்த்!

“குஜராத் கலவரத்திற்கு நீங்கள் ஏன் கவிதை எழுதவில்லை” என்று ஒரு ம.க.இ.க தோழர் கேட்டதற்கு அப்படியெல்லாம் கட்டளை போட்டு கவிதை வராது என்று கூறிய மனுஷ்ய புத்திரன் அது பற்றி தனி கட்டுரையே எழுதியிருக்கிறார். படத்தில் இரக்கமற்ற போலீசு அதிகாரியாய் வரும் ஆரிப் எனும் இளைஞன் தனது உருட்டுக்கட்டையால் குற்றவாளிகளை விசாரிப்பதற்கு உதவி செய்வான். இறுதிக் காட்சியில் விடுபட்ட தீவிரவாதியையும் சுட்டுக்கொல்வான். ஆரிஃப்பின் உருட்டுக்கட்டை பயங்கரவாதத்தை ஒழிப்பதற்கு எவ்வளவு பயன்பட்டதோ அதே அளவு மனுஷ்யபுத்திரனது பாடலும் பயன்பட்டிருக்கிறது. அந்தப்பாடல் கவிஞர் மனுஷ்ய புத்திரனின் உள்ளத்திலிருந்து பீறிட்டெழுந்த்து என்று அவரே குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளதால் அது கூலிக்கு மாரடிக்கும் குண்டாந்தடி அல்ல உணர்வுப்பூர்வமான குண்டாந்தடி என்று பாகுபடுத்திப் பார்ப்பதே நியாயமானது.

கமல் என்ற படைப்பாளியையும், அவரது படைப்பையும் தனித்தனியாக பிரித்து பார்க்க வேண்டுமென்ற வழக்கமான குரல் போலி முற்போக்கு முகாமிலிருந்து ஒலிக்கிறது. ஹேராமில் மதநல்லிணக்கம், அன்பே சிவத்தில் சோசலிசம், இந்தப் படத்தில் பாசிசம். இப்படி பல பரிமாணங்கள் கொண்ட ஒரு படைப்பாளியை ஒரே ஒரு படைப்போடு அடையாளப்படுத்தி முத்திரை குத்துவது நியாயமல்ல என்பதுதான் ‘மார்க்சிஸ்டுகளின்’ வருத்தம்.

அதுவும் நியாயம்தான். ரதயாத்திரை அத்வானியின் ஒரு படைப்பு. ஜின்னாவை மதசார்பற்றவர் என்று அழைத்த்து அவரது இன்னொரு படைப்பு. ஒரு படைப்பை மட்டும் வைத்துக் கொண்டு அத்வானியை இந்துமதவெறியன் என்று முத்திரை குத்துவது நியாயமில்லைதானே?
