Sinopsis:

Fujiwara Naeka es la tipica estudiante de secundaria de 17 años . O eso creímos. Ella es en realidad uno de los dos herederos sobrevivientes de un magnate que tiene derecho a heredar su gran fortuna, en medio año, cuando cumpla 18. Fubuki, una joven y hermosa sirvienta, y Kogarashi, un corpulento sirviente enmascarado, han sido asignados para mantener a salvo a Naeka y a su hermano Kousuke de aquellos que desean su fallecimiento y planean robar la fortuna que heredarán.

Esto es Ecchi! xD

Inicio una serie de post temáticos sobre Animes que vi. Para no estar subiendo un post por cada anime que he mirado (a menos que se lo merezca), los agruparé por tema (Románticos, Deportivos, Musicales, Acción, etc). Y cada serie mencionada llevará su correspondiente reseña, algunos comentarios, recomendaciones y enlaces de descarga directa…

Partiré con series que considero Ecchi.

Quiero aclarar que acá me refiero SOLO a series que vi. Si falta alguna, es porque no la tengo en mi archivo.

Que es el Ecchi?

El Ecchi, para algunos es un recurso mas del anime, para otros un género aparte.  Esta presente en innumerables series. A veces como un chiste que aporta lo picante a la historia, otras veces se vuelve mas importante que la historia…

El origen mas aceptado de la palabra Ecchi viene de la pronunciación inglesa de la H de la palabra Hentai. Y es que el Ecchi es su pariente cercano, pero jamás es explícito. Por lo tanto tambien es distinto del soft hentai (la linea es muy delgada, algunos tambien definen así al Ecchi pero no lo comparto)…No encontrarás sexo en el Ecchi, solo parecerá que algo ocurrirá…o que ocurrió, pero jamás una escena de cama. Para eso está el Hentai.  Simple.

No se debe confundir con el Fanservice, ya que el fanservice no consiste unicamente en mostrar la ropa interior de una chica, tambien puede ser la transformación de un mecha o una demostración del manejo de una arma (lo que el fan espera al mirar una serie).  Ecchi sería un tipo de fanservice calentón…(?)

Personalmente no me gusta el Hentai. Sé que tiene muchos seguidores y existe un montón de series excelentes que valdría la pena ver. Pero no me prende. Para mi es  casi lo mismo que ver una sensual mujer en minifalda (Ecchi) versus mirar a una chica en bikini (Hentai). Me seduce mas la que insinúa (la de minifalda), la que deja ver pero no muestra, que aquella que te lo pone todo en bandeja (la del bikini)…xD. Y de eso se trata el Ecchi.

El Ecchi pone el humor, mas lo “picante” o “caliente” al anime. Clásicas situaciones  Ecchi serían:

- La chica saliendo de la ducha, tropezándose sobre el protagonista que viene entrando y quedan ambos, cuerpo con cuerpo, cara a cara, con el habitual posterior sangrado de nariz del chico…

Ups! Un clásico del Ecchi xD

- La escena típica de las aguas termales y baños separados donde se cae la pared divisora que los deja cara a cara…

- La chica cambiandose de ropa cuando entra de improviso el chico…

- Un viento traicionero levanta falditas…un traje traicionero que deja ver mas de lo que se debe…un dia de playa con bikinis diminutos…

Que estás mirando!!! xD

- El gatito u otro animal adorable que magicamente se trasforma en una exhuberante chica…O la adorable chica con extensiones animales, lease cola, orejitas, patitas…

- El suertudo que tiene literalmente un Harem a su disposición de chicas de todos los estilos, portes, formas, carácteres y gustos…todos los fans contentos…xD

Tipica Escena Ecchi...

Y así. Los ejemplos sobran. Imagino que ya te quedó claro, si por esas cosas de la vida no tenías idea, lo que es el  Ecchi xD. Ahora vamos a las series…

Las Clásicas

Llegué al Ecchi gracias a Ranma 1/2 (1989). Lo pasaron hace años por la TV de mi país (Chile) y era la primera serie en donde veía situaciones de desnudos parciales de la protagonista (Ranma chica), además de situaciones calientes a cargo del harem de Ranma Saotome, muy graciosas por lo demás. Recuerdo que hubo una gran polémica respecto a esta serie y la censura se hizo evidente. Me puse a googlear por animes parecidos…y para mi gran sorpresa la lista ya era larga. Asi que me puse al dia xD.

Ranma 1/2 (1989)

Se habla que la serie precursora del Ecchi fue Cutie Honey (1973). Cuenta la historia de una bella androide que al transformarse en heroina hace pedazos su ropa, le cambia el pelo y queda vestida con un traje casi transparente que deja ver sus bien formadas curvas. Todo un suceso en los 70´s, inspiró además las clásicas transformaciones desnudas de chicas mágicas, lease Sailor Moon´s style…

Cutie Honey (1973)

Otro clásico sin dudas es Lupin III (1971). El ladrón mas famoso del anime por lo general terminaba en alguna situación comprometedora con sus “victimas” femeninas, aunque sin dudas la nota picante y lujuriosa la ponía Fujiko Mine, su complice y rival, que mas de alguna vez dejó ver mas de lo debido, incluso los pezones! xD

Lupin III (1971)

Los 80´s

Super Agente Cobra (1982) es otra pilar del anime Ecchi. La  censura a  la que fue sometida en su época, por sus escenas eróticas y algunas realmente violentas, aumentaron su leyenda. Es que Cobra no perdonaba a niuna! jajaja xD. Imperdible.

Los 80´s solo tienen además a Ranma 1/2 (1989) (merece post aparte) como valuarte del Ecchi. Aunque encontramos escenas picantes en muchas series como Mazinger Z,  Dragon Ball y hasta en Doraemon! (la clasica escena de Nobita espiando a Shizuka en la ducha xD), no puede considerarse ninguna como Ecchi propiamente tal. Habia que esperar a los 90´s.

Los 90´s

Aparece entonces Video Girl Ai (1992). Nos muestra la historia de una Video Girl llamada Ai, cuya misión es dar consuelo a tipos despechados a través de la pantalla (?), pero que por un desperfecto de la cinta, se escapa de esta, para vivir con el suertudo de  Yota  Moteuchi y consolarlo en carne y hueso xD. La bella Ai (notese su noventero peinado, jajaja) pone la nota picante al asunto, con baños desnuda, masajillos varios y el nacimiento de un romance. Gran serie.

Video Girl Ai (1991)

Siguiendo con los 90´s tenemos a DNA2 (1994). Vemos acá la llegada de una chica del futuro llamada Karin Aoi, la que viene a neutralizar al futuro MegaPlayboy, un tipo con los genes adulterados (Aló Palma! xD) que será el responsable de la sobrepoblación humana por ser irresistible a las mujeres y demasiado fértil. Aunque el tipo en cuestión no es nada de lo que se esperaba, de hecho le tiene alergia a las chicas, un error de la pobre Karin acelera el proceso y se desencadena el Ecchi…xD

Llega 1995 y con el un clasicaso! Golden Boy (1995). Vemos acá la historia de Kintaro Oe, estudiante de derecho de 25 años, que dejo la carrera para dedicarse a vagar por Japón y trabajar en lo que sea. En su camino se va encontrando con bellas mujeres con las que fantasea y a veces concreta…Gran serie, demasiado graciosa (geniales las caras de Kintaro), pero corta. Son solo 6 OVAs.

Golden Boy (1995)

Otro clásico noventero imperdible es Agent Aika (1997). Serie de excelente acción y bellas mujeres. Nos cuenta la historia de la Empresa KK dirigida por la hermosa Aika Sumeragi quienes se encargan de rescatar objetos perdidos en la profundidad del oceano, luego que la tierra fuera inundada en una gran catastrofe ocurrida el 2016. Pantsu por montones, se dice que tiene el record mundial de calzones en pantalla por minuto, lejos…xD

Agente Aika (1997)

Iketeru Futari (1999) casi rozando el Hentai es un nuevo imperdible de los 90´s. Relata las aventuras del pervertido Keisuke Saji, que fantasea constantemente con bellas mujeres, con el único objetivo de llevarlas a la cama, incluida su bella compañera, Akira Koizumi, de la que corren feos rumores en la escuela, que parecen ser ciertos. Excelente serie, lamentablemente es muy corta, demasiado cómica. Risas garantizadas.

Otros buenos Ecchi de los 90´s que vale la pena ver son Sakura Diaries (1997), Colorful (1999), Ebichu (1999) y Excel Saga (1999).

El Ecchi del nuevo siglo…

Llega el cambio de milenio y una avalancha de grandes series Ecchi se nos deja caer.

2000

Uno de los pilares fundamentales del Ecchi , y del Harem principalmente, se estrena el año 2000. Love Hina (2000) llega para transformarse en un clásico de inmediato. Nos cuenta la historia de Keitaro Urashima, un estudiante incapaz de entrar la Universidad de Tokio, que luego del segundo intento fracasado se va de su hogar a vivir a la posada de su abuela. No todo podía ser mala suerte para el pobre de Keitaro, ya que en la posada viven 5 bellas inquilinas adolescentes, entre ellas Naru Narusegawa, quien se prepara para entrar tambien a esa universidad. La obsesión de Keitaro por la Todai (U de Tokio) nace de una promesa que hizo en la niñez con una chica que no puede recordar…¿Será acaso Naru esa chica? Serie imperdible, con buenos momentos Ecchi, pero sin abusar.

Love Hina (2000)

Otra gran serie del 2000 es Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO). En ella vemos como Eikichi Onizuka, un verdadero delincuente, con cero experiencia en mujeres, logra transformarse en profesor con el único objetivo de impresionar a las chicas. Pero aunque continúa siendo un pervertido, poco a poco evoluciona en su forma de ver la vida y crece como persona. Llena de muchas situaciones graciosas y picantes,  GTO no te lo puedes perder…

2001

Lo mejor del Ecchi el 2001 se lo lleva la excelente Mahoromatic (2001). Mezcla perfecta de dos fetiches japoneses clichés, sirvientas y androides, cuenta la historia de Mahoro, una androide de combate retirada, que solo desea vivir tranquilamente sus últimos días. Se transforma en sirvienta (no por casualidad) de Suguru, un afortunado chico de secundaria, y cambia por completo su vida. Paradojalmente Mahoro (“la de los pechos pequeños“) es enemiga declarada del Ecchi y constantemente lo repite en cada capítulo xD.  Gran serie, muy graciosa, y que cuenta con los ED mas pegajosos que se hayan realizado alguna vez.

Mahoromatic (2001)

2002

Saltamos al 2002 y las palmas se las lleva Chobits (2002). Nuevamente el fetiche del androide, que como imagen perfecta, y bellisima de una chica, llega para acompañar al chico, y este de pronto se olvida que es tan solo una maquina. Chii una hermosa Persocon (androide de compañía, Aló Kenita! xD) es encontrada extrañamente en la basura!!! por Hideki (otro suertudo protagonista mas xD), cuando regresaba a casa. Se la lleva por supuesto, y la trata de hacer funcionar (notable la forma de “encenderla” xD). Asi comienza la historia. Mucha comedia, bastantes situaciones picantes, exceso de Moe, romance y drama. Tiene de todo. Es una serie que DEBES ver. Excelente la canción de inicio, además.

Chobits (2002)

Onegai Teacher (2002). Una profe extremadamente buena xD y además extraterrestre. ¿Que mas se puede pedir?. Que llegue a la casa de un chico de secundaria y se case con el!!! El sueño del pibe xD. Tiene una secuela, que en realidad ocurre paralela a la historia principal. Onegai Twins (2003),  trata sobre lindas hermanitas que aman perdidamente a su onii-chan! ¿Incesto!? Dejo la duda para que la veas…

2003

Llega el 2003 y con el dos clásicos imperdibles del Ecchi, que de seguro están en el top 10 de todos los tiempos.

Green Green (2003) nos muestra la historia de Yuusuke Takazaki, un chico normal de secundaria, que asiste a un colegio solo para hombres. Durante el verano deciden invitar a las chicas de un instituto femenino para probar una futura fusión mixta. Esta “oportunidad” es vista por los pervertidos amigos de Yuusuke como perfecta para perder la virginidad. Cuando llega el bus de las chicas, Midori Chitose, una extraña pero bella y simpatica muchacha, se abalanza en los brazos de Yuusuke declarándole su amor. “Hubo dos amantes a quienes se les prohibió estar juntos en el pasado y prometieron volver a renacer para así casarse y ser felices para siempre“. Ese es el inicio de la historia. Traingulo amoroso, miles de situaciones Ecchi, risas garantizadas y mucho romance. Genial.

Green Green (2003)

IkkiTousen (2003) cuenta la historia de los llamados “guerreros“, hombres y mujeres que son la reencarnación de heroes legendarios y que tienen muchas ganas de pelear. Esto da pie para que veamos a hermosas guerreras, vestidas de colegialas y con poca ropa, luchando muchas veces hasta quedar casi desnudas. Gran argumento xD. Fanservice por montones, a veces limita en el Hentai (sexo oral! (?)). Cuenta con tres temporadas y numerosos fanáticos alrededor del mundo que la utilizan especialmente por el cosplay.

Ikkitousen (2003)

Otra buena serie de este año es Maburaho (2003). Ecchi y magia, una gran combinación. Aca nos muestran la historia de Kazuki Shikimori un estudiante la Academia de Magia Aoi, que es discriminado y ridiculizado por sus compañeros por solo tener 8 intentos para hacer magia en su vida. A mas intentos mejor mago eres y mejor posición social se tiene. El promedio de la escuela va por sobre los 8.000. Así pasa la vida el pobre Kazuki hasta que se descubre que pertenece al linaje de los grandes magos y que muy posiblemente no será el, sino su hijo, el gran mago. Desde ese momento todas las chicas se quieren tirar al suertudo y se desata el Ecchi obviamente. Recomendable serie, que se complica algo con un final medio forzado.

Maburaho (2003)

Series destacadas del 2003 que también vale la pena ver son Eiken (2003, con las protagonistas mas tetonas de la historia xD) y Da Capo (2003, historia mas romántica que Ecchi pero igualmente aceptable).

2004

El 2004 es un año de muy buenas series.

Partimos con Girls Bravo (2004) que es otra serie imperdible. Yukinari, un perdedor sin remedio con las mujeres, que además desarrolló una especie de “urticaria” por ser constantemente maltratado, por ellas todo por ser “bajito“, ve como su vida cambia de improviso cuando un puente “interdimensional” se forma en su propia bañera y va a dar a un planeta donde el 96% de sus habitantes son mujeres y los hombres son muy disputados. Ahí conoce a Miharu una bella y voluptuosa chica a la que extrañamente no le tiene alergia. Cuando regresa a la tierra, Miharu lo sigue y la vida del looser cambia para siempre. Es una gran serie, la recomiendo plenamente, sobre todo por la gran cantidad de buenas chicas que aparecen. Atención con Kazuharu Fukuyama, uno de los personajes mas pervertidos que han aparecido alguna vez en un anime, jajaja…

Girls Bravo (2004)

En Dears (2004), vemos como el fetiche japonés de la chica servil, casi exclava, que hace todo lo que el “amo” decida, queda muy bien plasmado. Un ovni cae sobre Japón, en el venían sobrevivientes de la raza “Dears“, de apariencia humana y muy amistosos. Traen consigo a cierto grupo que fue modificado genéticamente para ser exclavos, pero como en la tierra no hay exclavitud, los esconden. Una de estas, llamada Ren (el nombre es mucho mas largo, pero en lenguaje Dears significa cero) escapa, y es salvada de morir por Takeya Ikuhara, un odioso estudiante japonés de secundaria. Takeya al principio le teme a la bella alien (cree que se lo comerá o algo parecido xD) y le cuesta mucho aceptar la mania por servir que tiene Ren (lo lleva en los genes). Es muy gracioso como la extraterrestre se debe adaptar a las costumbres humanas y es notable su evolución (mas la del pesado de Takeya) hacia el amor. Muy recomendada.

Dears (2004)

Otra grandiosa serie de este año es Midori no Hibi (2004). Los “Dias de Midori” nos muestra como un delincuente de secundaria llamado Senji “Perro loco” Sawamura, acostumbrado a meterse en peleas y problemas, pero que por esto mismo jamás ha conocido a una chica (su mano derecha es su mejor “amiga” xD), despierta cierto dia, dandose cuenta que ha perdido su mano amiga (es además su gran arma en las peleas)…En su lugar aparece una bella chica, llamada Midori Kasugano, que en silencio siempre estuvo enamorada del delincuente habitual, y que por una extraña razón, que no se entiende claramente, se hizo parte de el. Paralelamente el verdadero cuerpo de Midori yace en coma en su hogar, teniendo desesperados a sus padres y doctores. Esta genial serie, que parte bastante graciosa y morbosa, poco a poco se va haciendo mas dramática y romantica, transformandose en otro gran clásico del Ecchi que debes ver.

Midori no Hibi (2004)

Tenjo Tenge (2004) con algunas similitudes a IkkiTousen (2003), es otra serie Ecchi de peleas de escuela que es necesario ver. Sin los elementos fantásticos de  Ikkitousen, el fuerte está en las artes marciales. Si bien en la versión anime se atenuaron las escenas de contenido sexual, no carece de buen Ecchi. Se cae a veces en el argumento y sobre todo con el final, pero es recomendable.

Llegamos finalmente a una serie considerada una de las mejores de la historia del anime en general. Elfen Lied (2004), anime Gore, dramático y brutalmente perturbador, tambien tiene sus momentos Ecchi, que  sirven como una especie de “recreo” en lo que realmente importa. Nos muestra la historia de los Diclonius, mutaciones humanas, sumamente poderosas y peligrosas, que son objeto de dolorosos estudios. Una de ellos llamada Lucy escapa de las instalaciones sin poder ser detenida por casi un ejercito. Herida pierde la memoria y es encontrada en una playa por Kota, un chico recien ingresado a la universidad. La bella chica (solo diferente por unos pequeños cuernos en su cabeza) no sabe decir una sola palabra y solo repite “Nyu” por lo que decide bautizarla así. Comienza aquí la parte Ecchi de la serie con numerosas situaciones morbosas y graciosas protagonizadas por la bella Lucy/Nyu (su personalidad adorable) y el pobre de Kota. Pero como dije antes es solo un “recreo” antes de que se vaya revelando la verdadera forma de Lucy y su relación con Kota, para llegar así a un final impactante, de los mejores que he visto, lejos. Serie imperdible que DEBES ver, nada mas.

Elfen Lied (2004)

Otras buena serie del 2004 recomendada es Love Love (2004)

2005

El año 2005 trae otra avalancha de Ecchi.

Bokusatsu Tenchi Dokuro-Chan (2005) te volará la cabeza. Literalmente xD. Cuenta la historia de Sakura Kusakabe un tranquilo estudiante de escuela que en el futuro será el responsable de que  las mujeres no envejezcan despues de los 12 años. Paraiso Lolicon. Esto enfurece a Dios y manda a una angel de la muerte, llamado Dokuro Mitsukai para que lo asesine. Pero esta se comienza a encariñar con Sakura, que no imagina su futuro, y le perdona la vida, para mantenerse junto a el y evitar que piense en hacer cosas pervertidas. Pero Dokuro-Chan es muy impulsiva y no sabe controlar su fuerza sobrehumana, y sin “querer queriendo” mata al pobre Sakura todo el tiempo con su arma llamada Excaliborg (un bate con clavos!). Pero al momento lo revive con la ya clásico cantito “Pipiru piru piru pipiru pi“. Alucinante! xD. Serie muy gore, demasiado graciosa y muy Ecchi en gran parte a la mala de Dokuro que anda tentando todo el tiempo a Sakura. Imperdible.

Bokusatsu Tenchi Dokuro-Chan (2005)

Otra gran serie Ecchi del grupo de las Harem es Shuffle! (2005). En un momento la tierra queda conectada con el mundo de los Dioses (Shin) y el mundo de los Demonios (Ma), y la convivencia es tranquila. Tanto que hasta van a clases juntos con los humanos. Tsuchimi Rin, es un normal estudiante de secundaria (otro mas! xD) que vive bajo el cuidado de su bella amiga Kaede (ejemplo de Yandere xD), para quien es su razón de vivir. Le cocina, lava, lo baña y lo ama locamente. Así pasan sus dias felizmente. Pero de pronto se transfieren dos nuevas alumnas a la escuela de Tsuchimi. Lisianthus (princesa de los dioses) y Nerine (princesa demonio), llegan nada menos que a casarse con el suertudo, por lo tanto este debe decidir. Pobre de Kaede. Pero para hacer mas difíciles las cosas, tambien esta la amiga de infancia de Tsuchimi, Asa Shigure, senpai bien calentona y clave en la historia. A Shuffle la podríamos dividir en dos partes, la primera como serie full Ecchi, harem y cómica. La segunda mas cercana al final con un violento giro, que la hace mas dramática y romántica. Pero es excelente, otra de las que DEBES ver.

Shuffle! (2005)

Amaenaideyo!! (2005) es una serie que mezcla muy bien el Harem (tiene chicas para todos los gustos), la comedia y un gran Ecchi. Nos muestra la historia de Ikkou Satonaka, un problemático chico al que sus padres internan en un templo budista para hacerse monje. En el templo viven 6 monjas (chicas novicias de secundaria, van a la escuela de hecho). Cada una tiene un poder distinto útil en los exorcismos y rituales, por los que son contratados. Chitose (la mas bella de todas) tiene una relación de amor y odio con Ikkou, al que constantemente maltrata por pervertido. Ikkou esconde el poder oculto del Sacerdote Supremo, que no sabe controlar, pero que se desencadena cuando se exita lo suficiente, viendo por ejemplo a la bien formada Chitose desnuda xD. Muchas veces, cuando están en problemas, deben forzarla a que le muestre algo para salir del paso.  Es una muy buena serie, muy graciosa para mirar, aunque al final se hace algo repetitiva.

Amaenaideyo! (2005)

Otra serie destacada es Ichigo 100% (2005). Llena de situaciones picantes, pero mas inocentonas, para algunos es una serie de culto (mas que nada por  los excelentes diseños de personajes femeninos). Junpei Manaka, un malditamente indeciso estudiante amante del cine, por accidente recibe sobre si una hermosa chica de linda ropa interior estampada de fresitas (Ichigo). Prendido totalmente por este hallazgo decide buscarla luego que esta escapa. Encuentra así a Ayu, la que no parece ser la de la azotea, y a Nishino, la mas bella de la escuela. Así se debate entre quien elegir, entre estas y otras mas. Con un final demasiado abierto, la serie decae un poco, pero es igualmente recomendable.

Ichigo 100% (2005)

Otras buenas series Ecchi del 2005 que vale la pena ver (no me alargaré  mayormente en ellas) son Karin (2005, historia de la vampiro que no chupaba sangre, sino que la botaba (?)). Canvas 2 (2005, serie con pocos momentos Ecchi, pero buenos. Romántica principalmente). Mahou Sensei Negima (2005, la historia del pequeño profesor de un instituto mágico que debe enseñarle a un curso de chicas. Tiene el record de personajes femeninos! xD. Para todos los gustos). Finalmente Ultimate Girls (2005, serie de chicas mágicas que se vuelven gigantes, con las transformaciones mas pervertidas jamás antes vistas xD).

2006

School Days (2006) es el icono Ecchi de este año. Basado en un juego hentai, nos muestra la historia del maldito Makoto a quien no se le escapa niuna chica de la serie xD. Ya escribí mucho de esa anime…

Tona-gura! (2006) es otra destacada. Kazuki una bellisima chica de secundaria tiene idealizado el recuerdo de su vecino de la infancia que regresa luego de 10 años. Esperando a su principe azul, en realidad aparece  Yuuji, un perfecto pervertido que lo único que desea es meterle mano. Serie demasiado graciosa, entretenida y además romantica. Recomendada.

Tona-gura! (2006)

Otra serie casi clásica del Ecchi es Zero no Tsukaima (2006). Nos muestra la historia de la perfecta Tsundere Louise “La Cero“, llamada así porque es incapaz de hacer un hechizo correctamente, en un mundo donde la magia lo es todo. En la ceremonia de invocación de un “familiar” o sirviente mágico, Louise invoca a un humano, Saito, que no tiene poderes. Esto la transforma en blanco de las burlas de sus compañeros, ya que el resto si pudo traer a criaturas fantásticas de verdad. Lo que al inicio es solo odio y maltratos de Louise al pobre de Saito va cambiando durante la serie hasta transformarse en romance. Tiene muchos y “legendarios” momentos Ecchi (notable la confesión del bote), mucha comedia, cosplay y pequeños momentos de drama. La segunda temporada es mucho mas hot que la primera sobre todo por la aparición de la Elfa xD. Indispensable mirarla.

Zero no Tsukaima (2006)

Otras series recomendadas del 2006 que vale la pena ver son Air Gear (2006, Batallas fantásticas en patines (?) sobredosis de pantu xD), Chocotto Sister (2006, una linda hermanita llega envuelta en papel de regalo a la casa de un suertudo en navidad, solo porque se lo pidió a Papa Noel (?)), High School Girls (2006, serie muy hot de chicas de secundaria  y sus aventuras) y Magikano (2006, Ecchi mas Magia con hermanitas brujas defendiendo al hermano que desconoce sus reales poderes. Decae al final).

2007

El 2007 trae algunas series bastante aceptables.

La mas graciosa de este año es Sumomomo Momomo (2006-2007). Momoko, la llamada “Novia mas fuerte del Mundo“, una chica de fuerza sobre humana y fanática de las artes marciales, lo unico que desea es casarse y tener un hijo con Koshi a quien ella cree el “Peleador mas fuerte de la tierra“. Todo esto gracias a un acuerdo de sus padres que dirigen a las 12 familias poseedoras de los estilos únicos de las artes marciales. Pero Koshi odia con todas sus fuerzas la violencia y por su puesto las artes marciales. Aún así la “feita“, pero adorable Momoko, hará lo posible por atender y enamorar a su futuro marido, que no la quiere ver ni en pintura. Esta serie es demasiado graciosa, mas que nada por las ocurrencias de la novia…Al final terminarás encariñándote con ella sin dudas. Muy recomendada, sin ser tan Ecchi.

Sumomomo momomo (2007)

Kenko Zenkarei Suieibu Umisho (2007) cuenta la historia de una simpática y deshinibida chica, llamada Amuro, fanática por nadar desnuda en el mar, que llega a Umineko junto a su padre en la casa flotante donde viven. Automáticamente es reclutada en el equipo de nado de la escuela en la que empieza a asistir y establece una relación de amistad con un chico que le tiene fobia al agua (por un trauma) llamado Kaname Okiura. Serie livianita, con momentos graciosos y algunos de perversión aportados principalmente por Mirei, una de las chicas del equipo y por Masa, el capitan del equipo.

Otra buena serie estrenada este año es Goshusho-sama Ninomiya-kun (2007). Ninomiya es un chico casi normal que vive en una gigantesca casa y al que su alocada hermana Ryoko lo somete a extremos entrenamientos en combate. Un dia llegan a la casa enviados por Ryoko los hermanos Mayu y Mikihiru. Mayu tiene un gran problema, (luego entenderemos el por qué) y es un miedo enfermizo a los hombres. La chica, que está demasiado buena, solo despierta los peores sentimientos pervertidos de todo aquel que se le cruce. Pero increiblemente con Ninomiya no le pasa esto. Se inicia así una especie de terapia forzada para que la exquisita Mayu supere su problema…pero no es tan fácil el asunto. Recomiendo esta serie, sobre todo por las protagonistas y las graciosas situaciones a la que se ve enfrentado el pobre de Ninomiya.

Goshusho sama Ninomiya-kun (2007)

La tercera destacada es Nagarasete Airanto (2007). Podría resumirla como el “sueño del pibe!!!” xD. Un chico llamado Ikuto, luego de pelearse con su padre, decide tomar un crucero, que para su mala suerte naufraga. Despierta en una isla habitada únicamente por chicas, de todas las edades y para todos los gustos, que solo desean que el suertudo las haga sus “esposas” (que les de xD). Como se trata de un anime obviamente el chico no se aprovecha de su increible suerte y lo único que intenta es escapar de la isla, que lamentablemente está rodeada de tiburones y remolinos, que hacen imposible la huida. Para pensarlo xD.

Nagarasete Airantou (2007)

He is my Master (2007) es otra serie fetiche. Lindas sirvientas de las que se aprovecha el pervertido millonario Yoshitaka, a las que obliga a usar con los mas reveladores vestidos y cumplir todas sus fantasías fetichistas. Muy recomendable.

Puedo recomendar tambien a Kyou no Gononi (2007) serie con buenos momentos Ecchi (Lolis), pero es graciosa mas que nada.

2008

Año de grandes e imperdibles estrenos bien Ecchi, quizas el año de mayor cantidad de este tipo en la historia, lo que marca sin lugar a dudas una tendencia. Si esto es bueno o malo, dependerá de la opinión de cada consumidor de anime. Yo solo expongo lo que innegablemente está pasando.

Debo partir con To Love-Ru (2008) una de mis debilidades. Serie de excelente diseño de personajes femeninos, chicas bellisimas, adorables, voluptuosas, deshinibidas y para todos los gustos xD. Es un anime demasiado gracioso, y que aporta los momentos mas Ecchi que he visto hasta ahora, desde el fabuloso OP. Nos cuenta la historia de Rito, un chico normal de secundaria al que le es imposible declararse a la hermosisima Haruna Sairenji, por uno u otro accidente. Un dia cuando Rito estaba en su bañera se aparece totalmente desnuda frente a él Lala Satalin Deviluke, una bella y exhuberante chica, princesa alienigena del planeta Deviluke, que cae por accidente en su hogar, luego de estar huyendo de su padre que la quiere casar con algún guerrero poderoso. Pero Lala le dice que Rito será su esposo y decide quedarse en su casa. Y cambia para siempre la vida del suertudo. Veremos entonces al chico en problemas con Haruna por culpa de Lala, y sus ocurrencias. Paralelamente aparecen otras chicas extrañas en su camino, destacando sin dudas la exquisita Yami. Esta es otra serie que DEBES ver para entender el Ecchi en su esencia.

To Love-Ru (2008)

Si hablamos de Ecchi no podemos dejar fuera a la increible Kanokon (2008). Serie que muchas veces raya en el Hentai, no te puede dejar indiferente. Nos muestra como el malditamente indeciso e inocente Kouta se debate entre aceptar el acoso carnal de un par de chicas de su escuela, que en realidad son dos deidades de tipo animal, o mantenerse virgen!!! Bueno algo así…xD. Chizuru una deidad zorro (Zorrita xD), de enormes pechos, acosadora y muy Hot (sadomasoquista entre otras cosas), constantemente atrapa a Kouta, y como esto es anime, el muy tonto no aprovecha el plato. En realidad la ama “puramente” y la otra lo ama “calientemente” jajaja. Pero aparece una rival, Nozume, una deidad Lobita, de apariencia mas inocente, pero al final igual de Hot. Constantemente molesta a Chizuru diciendole que ella también tiene sus “cosas” y que puede competir con la “tetona”. Y ahí veremos a Kouta acosado toda la serie y de seguro lo maldeciremos por su indecisión. Imperdible.

Kanokon (2008)

Rosario + Vampire (2008) o era Rosario + Pantsu? xD tambien se eleva como otra gran serie Ecchi. Vemos aquí como Aono Tsukune va a dar por equivocación a la academia Youkai, donde estudian solo monstruos y los humanos no son bienvenidos. Esto a pesar que todos esconden su verdadera apariencia bajo un look “humano“. Camino a la escuela se topa por casualidad con una bellisima chica llamada Moka, que le revela que en realidad es un vampiro, sin saber que Tsukune es normal. Pero pronto los instintos de la chica la hacen querer darle una al “probadita” al cuello del chico. Por supuesto que viene el romance. Moka esconde su verdadero estado de poderoso vampiro, sellado por un rosario que extrañamente solo Tsukune puede quitar. Se transforma así en una voluptuosa y algo odiosa vampiro capaz de derrotar con un solo golpe a cualquier monstruo. Paralelamente aparecen nuevas chicas que se unen al Harem del suertudo. Kurumo (una suculenta y muy hot Sucubo), Yukari (una linda brujita) y Mizore (mujer de las nieves). Mención aparte para la diosa Mizore! xD. Perfecta en todo sentido, y muy sensual con ese Lollypop que siempre lleva en la boca. Esta serie, al menos por las chicas la deberías ver. Pero el argumento se hace muy repetitivo al final y creo que se perdieron de hacer algo realmente bueno porque tenía potencial. Igual la recomiendo por esos tan lindamente dibujados calzoncitos…jajaja xD.

Rosario + Vampire (2008)

KissxSis (2008). Otra perturbadora serie que tambien casi raya en el Hentai. Con solo dos OVAs nos regala algunas de las escenas mas Ecchi que lograremos ver, sin pasar al otro lado. Nos muestra los problemas (si pueden llamarse así) que un par de gemelas muy hot ocasionan a su hermano (en realidad no comparten lazos sanguineos). Lo acosan incesantemente, desde que despierta, en todos los lugares, y de todas las formas, sin importar quien los vea. Absolutamente recomendada. Lastima que no publiquen muy seguido nuevo material.

KissxSis (2008)

Sekirei (2008) nos muestra como un perfecto perderdor llamado Minato Sahashi ve cambiar su suerte cuando literalmente le cae una chica del cielo. Las bella Musubi, una Sekirei (seres especiales con habilidades increibles), al parecer está predestinada a encontrar en Minato a su “Ashikabi“, algo así como su media naranja, que le da sus “alas” al besarla y con esto quedan listas para luchar, su casi único fin en la vida. Las cosas se ponen buenas cuando nos enteramos que mas de una Sekirei puede estar con un mismo Ashikabi. Y la suerte de Minato cambia jajaja. Serie de muchas y bellas chicas, compitiendo palmo a palmo contra las de Eiken sobre cuales son las mas tetonas de la historia xD.

Sekirei (2008)

En They are my noble Masters (2008) veremos el fetiche del mayordomo que se juega todo por su “Ama” se toma como argumento. La historia es simple pero muy bien elaborada, tanto que mas allá del Ecchi la recomiendo por su calidad. Dos hermanos necesitados de dinero luego de escapar de su maltratador padre llegan a la casa de 3 chicas millonarias, para trabajar en la servidumbre. Mucha comedia, buenos momentos picantes y algo de drama.

They are my Noble Master

Finalmente una serie que de seguro te hará reir hasta las lagrimas. Kamen no Maid Guy (2008). Es otra serie de super-mayordomos, que tiene a Kogarashi como valuarte. Este “maid guy” se roba literalmente la serie con sus ocurrencias. Tiene cero sentido común, llegando a ser pervertido sin darse cuenta. Su único objetivo es proteger a Naeka Fujiwara, chica heredera de una inmensa fortuna y cuya vida corre peligro por lo mismo. La principal característica de Naeka son sus enormes y bien formados pechos, que para su edad destacan demasiado. Y gran parte de los chistes son gracias a ellos. Recomendada para reir sin pausas.

Kamen no Maid Guy (2008)

Otras series recomendadas del 2008 son Kemeko Deluxe (2008), Koihime Muso (2008), Macademi Wasshoi! (2008) y Strike Witches (2008).

2009

Llegamos entonces a la actual temporada de anime. Algunos de estos todavía en emisión. Puedo destacar a:

- Asu no Yoichi (2009). Simpática serie de un samurai, que llega a vivir a la ciudad, a  la casa de unas hermanas bastante buenas. El samurai es demasiado noble, aunque igual un poco pervertido. Las chicas son de lujo, en especial las hermanas mayores, cada una en su estilo, absolutamente apetecibles….jajaja. Muy recomendable.

Asu no Yoichi (2009)

- Queen´s Blade (2009). Serie que sigo semana a semana para continuar impactandome con esa avalancha de Ecchi , Oppai y perversiones varias, de las guerreras mas voluptuosas jamas vistas. Aunque no es el objetivo (creo?) me he reido mucho mirandola. Para verla sin culpas.

- Maria+Holic (2009). Divertida serie donde el pervertido de turno esta vez es una chica. Lesbiana casi asumida, entra a una escuela de mujeres solo a saciar sus instintos. No contaba con que encontraría a alguien mas pervertido que ella.

- Akikan! (2009). Serie incoherente y vacía, graciosa a ratos, que solo se salva por algunos personajes femeninos, entre ellas Melon, la protagonista, una lata que se transforma en chica cuando la beben (?). No pierdes nada si no la ves.

Asi llego al final de este extenso y  exhaustivo articulo xD.

Para terminar agregaré el Top 10 de los mejores animes Ecchi de todos los tiempos. Es un ranking subjetivo basado en mi propio gusto, que obviamente quizás no coincida con el tuyo. Lo hice siguiendo las notas generales que le puse a todas las series de este estilo que he visto (por lo menos todas las que nombro en este articulo), así que algo de lógica tiene.  Ojo que las evalué solo por el Ecchi,  que es lo que nos interesa en este espacio (y no como series en general).

Si la gente que me visita fuera mas participativa, de seguro lo haría por votación. Pero para no hacer mas problemas acá se los dejo y espero sus comentarios si lo quieren discutir.

A que juegos, hace poco Tetsu regreso de su pais, y nos trajo muchas cosas . . . (^- ^) RE5 LE y FFVIIACC LE . . . pero tambien se trajo juegos que encontro baratos. Uno de ellos fue Boyoyon Battle Royale para el PSP. Chequen el video que encontre y opinen. Su contenido no es apto para todo publico, y peor aun, usan la clasica tecnica secreta de chicas indefensas. Reading how fanservice can create a blinder effect and cause a viewer to dismiss a show got me thinking about fanservice in general and my tastes in particular. As far as the article is concerned, yes I am indifferent to most harem-type fanservice shows. I never bothered to continue watching Love Hina, I’m oblivious to Key game adaptations, and am totally surprised at myself for lasting 2 episodes watching Akikan. I am actually blind to whatever value the shows may have, or the interesting viewing I may have with them.

I can live with that. It’s not like I think these shows are bad (save maybe for Akikan), only that I’ve come to know myself a little more, and the kind of fanservice that I really get into. Yes, it isn’t just about tits and ass.

How many fan fetishes are being served in this image? I see what you did there Gao Gai Gar!

I hesitate to say I’m a connoisseur of it, but I do have a taste for certain particular kinds:

1. Nostalgia (and Continuity) Porn
2. Battle Porn (huge bonus points if scene/anime includes mecha)

The two above are actually quite broad categories. I believe that I got OVER 9000% more value out of Macross Frontier than anyone (or at least anyone in the sphere who’s written about it) due to my particular context of being a fan of the franchise since it first came out in the distant ’80s. For most viewers (even for fans who saw the whole franchise, but only due to a marathon over a few weeks/months) it was just ‘what’s next,’ and they’d immediately rank it against the other installments. Impossible for me: it was a long-awaited gift, as if (intentional fallacy be momentarily damned) Kawamori himself was doing the series as a personal favor to me.

It's difficult to find a single image that communicates the fanservice levels Macross Frontier delivers for me.

Being an older fan and having seen shows and traditions (tropes) as old allows for a particularly intense appreciation when such a trope is used, or a tradition is paid homage to. Try to imagine the kind of obnoxious shouting and pointing at the screen that transpired when I watched Gurren Lagann for the first time. It recalled the most distant of memories – as I watched super robot shows before I could properly speak.

How many instant fanboys did TTGL make? They aren't even getting half of what makes this show so awesome.

Regarding Battle Porn, it’s not really difficult to explain. I like on-screen violence of all kinds: intensity and graphic value (Sword of the Stranger!), choreography of the actual fighting (Macross Plus!), complexity of strategy and tactics (Code Geass!), among a lot of other things. So hello there Legend of the Galactic Heroes! LOGH delivers the goods very well, and allows for fanboy pursuits that I don’t get to do in other series or franchises.

Trying to remember the names of all these characters can win me buckets of fanboy points, or so I think.

There seems to be people actually think anime should be fanservice free, or at least think that shows that have explicit fanservice isn’t as good? Well, there are fandoms who demand little else but! And, they do it in the spirit of demanding excellence and quality!

I think the best example of this is the Gundam franchise and its fandom. The Japanese fandom behave as if innovation from the core elements and tropes of the franchise is a bad thing. So they are like me, only that they demand the continuity and nostalgia service. The ‘commentary’ you find around the web re Gundam 00 is quite painful to read. It’s not that the show isn’t bad – there’s a lot of things about it that I find atrocious, and yet I love it and stick with it (and let me be clear that it’s not related to THAT meme that supposedly FORCES people to be unable to stop watching).

A source of RAEG, though I suspect that not all of the RAEG against the fujoshification of Gundam is authentic.

Point is, demanding that a show behave in expected ways and whining when it doesn’t is spoiled fan behavior. Perhaps this is the unintended consequence of being pandered to so much and for so long – combined with youth, immaturity, and THIS. Not surprisingly, the same fandom will complain about the presence of fanservice in the show when it’s not pandering to their particular tastes. The manner of complaining can be interesting itself, though it must be a source of consternation for some (explored by Kaioshin Sama here).

Nothing, NOTHING is sacred.

So as fans, we can be spoiled. There may be levels of pandering that prevent the majority of viewers to get into an anime. I happen to like Kogarashi a lot but not think much of the Kamen no Maid Guy anime itself. Perhaps this is why we can’t have nice things. We’re schizophrenic when it comes to fanservice, sometimes it may just be that we as viewers aren’t able to distinguish how our sensibilities are being served. This is not surprising, because there’s just so many ways these days.

I should make a "Cutest Character of 2008" category so I could give him an award.

Part 2 is somewhat of a mishmash of awards. I started out just having multi-character awards but while figuring out where everything went I realized I needed a spot to place various awards that didn’t fit anywhere else.

Best Couple

Winner: Tomoya and Nagisa from Clannad

Runner-up: Iku Kasahara and Atsushi Dojo from Library War

Even though I think Taiga and Ryuuji of Toradora make the perfect couple, the show really hasn’t shown them together as a couple so they weren’t as strong of contenders they could have been. On the other hand Tomoya and Nagisa seem to be perfect for each other and from the start the show reinforced this to the viewers. And the second season has really shown how good of a couple they are together and has gotten to the point of them getting married.

Best Cast of Characters

Winner: Toradora

Runner-up: Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

The cast of Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is full of really great characters but they fall short of Toradora mainly because they never evolve as the characters of Toradora do. I like how every character of Toradora is different and not different like each character falls into preset character types; instead, they feel like they could be real people and their problems feel realistic for who they are and not just to fit convenient plot progressions.

Best Dressed Characters

Winner: Clannad

An easy award to give because KyoAni seems obsessed with having their characters dress in as many different outfits as possible. It is realistic though, how many people do you know that wear the same couple of outfits day after day. And each time something new is worn, it’s genuinely new and tasteful. This might sound shallow but it does add a degree of realism to the show and keeps an element of surprise to itself.

Best Character Development for Cast

Winner: Toradora

Runner-up: Bamboo Blade

Many shows have good character development for the main character and sometimes even a few of the side characters but it’s rare for a show to have good character development for all of the main characters and principal side characters like Toradora has. It’s really amazing that they’ve been able to fit such a high level of character development of the entire principal cast in only 13 episodes and judging from the first few episodes of the second half, it’s not slowing down in the least.

Best Character Development of a Single Character

Winner: Yomi from Ga-Rei: Zero

Runner-up: Natsume from Natsume Yuujinchou

Almost the entire show of Ga-Rei: Zero is focused on the character of Yomi and how she is corrupted to become an evil killing machine. Even when I knew what happens in the future, I couldn’t help but like her before she turns evil and I can even understand why she did what she did. That moment of despair that she has while in the hospital was masterfully done and felt very real.

Best Character Ability/Power

Winner: Kogarashi from Maid Guy

I already mentioned some of powers Kogarashi has earlier but there’s others including Maid Guy Voice that can stun people, Maid Guy Hair Sensor where he uses his hair as mobile sensors, and Maid Guy Levitation. It’s hard to pick a single favorite but the ability to link a printer to your brain using a USB cable and being able to print things by just thinking about them is a very awesome power.

Best Anime Movie Seen in 2008

Winner: Evangelion 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone

I’ve mentioned before that even though Evangelion is an important anime work in the historical sense, it stinks as a show due in part to the very poor ending. After Gurren Lagann and it’s superbly crafted ending, though, I have some confidence that this time Gainax will get it right and the first of four movies seems to be a very good first step. My sister, who’s never seen the original series but seen clips of it in AMVs and such, was thoroughly impressed with the movie. I hold little hope of actually seeing this in theaters but would dearly love the chance to do so.

Best Anime OVA Seen in 2008

Winner: Clannad Episode 24 OVA

This was a separate story from the series though officially it’s episode 24 of the first season. It still features Tomoya and he’s still best friends with Sunohara but his girlfriend is Tomoyo and we meet no other characters from the main series. I know KyoAni was aided from the fact that we know the characters from the series but they manage to tell a full story in only 21 minutes that was interesting, moving, authentic and in many ways, superior to the first season of Clannad. It showed the full potential that Clannad had and made me excited about the forthcoming second season.

Best Anime Extra

Winner: Gurren Lagann Parallel Works

These where a series of short pieces done by Gainax employees using music from Gurren Lagann. All but one of them where meant to be separate from the show – hence the name Parallel Works. They featured the characters of Gurren Lagann in alternate settings, like a medieval world, or with alternate circumstances, like having the good guys be bad and Viral be the hero of the resistance. One though acted like a prequel in that it showed how Lord Genome became the ruler of earth and why he imprisoned humanity underground. Each was done by somebody different and thus had wildly different visual style though it was always fun to see some visual element that was done in one of these and remember something similar in the show. They where posted for free viewing on their website on a weekly basis over the summer and early autumn. I thought these showed that more can be done with the characters of Gurren Lagann and the world, in general, and hopefully Gainax will agree and revisit this world at some point in the future.

Most in Need of a Sequel

Winner: Ryoko’s Case Files

The way the first season ended greatly increased my desire for a second season. How often do you get the chance to see a love triangle form that includes a clone, the original, and the guy they both like? Between that and the chance to see Ryoko and Izumida solve more mysterious cases should make a sequeal a no-brainer. Hopefully, this will be case and more Ryoko’s Case Files will be seen in 2009.

I start with the character awards partly because I feel once a show establishes a great cast of characters then it’s 70% of the way to ensuring that I’ll like it. And it doesn’t matter what type of show, any show can be improved with good character development.

Best Female Main Character

Winner: Ryoko from Ryoko’s Case Files

Runner-up: Iku Kasahara from Library War

An accurate description of Ryoko would be a cross between an adult Haruhi Suzumiya and the police skill of the Major from GiTS:SAC. A very potent combination and it helped make the show a must watch. My favorite Ryoko-ism was towards the end of the series when she took refuge in an empty underground mall, trying to hide from numerous soldiers trying to kill her. She realizes that her clothes are torn and dirty so she picks a killer outfit out, leaves her charge card, then calmly showers and dresses as if she’s going to a party and not to a firefight. We really need to see more shows like Ryoko’s Case Files that focus on characters that are adults because it’s so refreshing for the change of pace.

Best Male Main Character

Winner: Ryuuji from Toradora

Runner-up: Kogarashi from Maid Guy

Everyone has their little problems that they have to live with. For Ryuuji, it’s the fact that he looks like his Yakuza father – mean and dangerous. This is a problem because Ryuuji is a nice guy and just wishes for people to treat him normally. He happens to be a bit odd though because a sale at the grocery store or having the chance to clean away mold makes his day. What makes him the best male main character is that he’s truly a really nice guy. He’s also fiercely loyal to his friends, willing to go to whatever means necessary to help them with whatever their problems are and he’s also insightful and thoughtful.

Best Female Supporting Character

Winner: Minorin from Toradora

Runner-up: Ami from Toradora

I didn’t think Ami would become a character I like when she was introduced but she’s been slowly rising in the ranks. She’s a completely different person then either Taiga or Minorin but she’s shown her own positive qualities. It wasn’t enough to dislodge Minorin from the top spot because Minorin has been awesome since the beginning. Her energetic outbursts and attitude always steel the show when she’s onscreen. However, this spastic personality hides a more serious personality that she doesn’t allow people to see though she seems to be lowering her guard to Ryuuji. So for her screen-stealing personality, sunny disposition, and being a good friend to Taiga, Minorin gets my nod for best female supporting character.

Best Male Supporting Character

Winner: Dan-kun from Bamboo Blade

Runner-up: Sunohara from Clannad

One of the surprising things about Bamboo Blade was Dan-kun, Miya Miya’s boyfriend and friend to Yuuji. He was short, looked very egg shaped, and seemed to be there for comedic purposes. Over the course of the series though, we see him mature as he works hard at learning Kendo. He also is a good boyfriend by providing support to Miya Miya so she can face her inner demons and her external tormentors. He earned a lot of respect from the characters and by the final episode, he is elected the head of the kendo club which was something that would have been unfathomable at the start.

Best Non-human Character

Winner: Nyanko-sensei from Natsume Yuujinchou

Runner-up: Kuu from Wagaya no Oinari-sama

Nyanko-sensei is a spirit that had been sealed into a Luck Cat statue until Natsume accidentally lets him loose. He makes an agreement with Natsume to be his body guard under the condition that when Natsume dies, Nyanko-sensei takes ownership of the Book of Friends. At the time I thought that Nyanko-sensei would just kill Natsume at the first opportunity but Nyanko-sensei never seemed to even think of doing so. As the show unfolded, I realized that Nyanko-sensei actually likes Natsume as a friend. His gruff, catlike personality with his liking of alcohol is a great counterpoint to the often sad events of the show. And because he’s strong in his original form and also because he’s well-known amoung the spirits – oftentimes he is the one that saves Natsume from being killed.

Strongest Female Character

Winner: Sora from Someday’s Dreamers Season 2

Runner-up: Nagisa from Clannad

I’m defining strong in a more general sense then just being physically strong and both Sora and Nagisa strike me as being strong women. Neither are particularly physically strong but they both have problems that would make most normal people despair, yet they can smile and live as if nothing is wrong. Sora edged Nagisa out because we still have half a season of Clannad left and much of her story still left to see.

Strongest Male Character

Winner: Kogarashi from Maid Guy

Runner-up: Natsume from Natsume Yuujinchou

I had to give this award to Kogarashi. I can’t say he’s emotionally strong like Natsume because I’m not sure that Kogarashi has emotions. He’s more like a force of nature that’s not totally explainable to us mere humans. He can control crows, has x-ray vision, can plug a USB printer cord into his ear and print images from his mind, he’s taught at M.I.T., can wrestle with a panda bear, and the list goes on. In the show he works as a maid and strives for perfect service, even if his master disagrees.

Best Female Screen-grabber

Winner: Sakura from Wagaya no Oinari-sama

Sakura wasn’t in the show much, maybe once every couple episodes, but when she was, she made her persence known. With an imagination almost as outlandish as Hosaka’s, the ability to come to absurd conclusions, and a talent for over-analyzing a situation – she always made the viewer laugh and at the same time hope she would successful in getting Takagami’s attention.

Best Male Screen-grabber

Winner: Hosaka from Minami-ke: Okawari

Hosaka is another person that isn’t in the show too often but his mere presence is enough to get a laugh. The over dramatic posturing and habit of unbuttoning his shirt helps though. He is consumed with getting Haruka Minami’s attention but a combination of personal shortcomings and bad luck have so far stymied him. His overactive imagination is always a source of laughter – just look at my the recently posted clip from episode 2 of the third season. And the sad thing is that he’s genuinely sincere, has his good points, and would probably make a good boyfriend for Haruka.

Best Villian

Winner: Kazuhiro Mitogawa from Ga-Rei: Zero

I love a villian that’s intelligent and evil and he’s both. As we get through Ga-Rei: Zero, we see that he has this complex plan to eliminate the good guys largely through their own failing and he’s been very sucessful. He’s gotten rid of one of the most powerfullfamilies, reduced another to a single member, and killed or injured to the point of retireing several other very high level people.

Well, its fun to go through my massive anime collections one by one to check out their contents and it is certainly nice and refreshing to watch old animes again like Midori no Hibi, Onegai Teacher, Excel Saga, Chobits, Azumanga Daioh, Gunparade March and others. Of course, not all of them have ecchi scenes, it takes pure luck guessing which one has and which one dont especially the vintage ones. I noticed mostly vintage anime has a lot of ecchi or nude scenes in it, whether it is a DVD format or not compared to animes that are released in the 90’s.

After dilligently selecting more than 30 titles for this V3 edition, I dont feel like stopping with this V3 release – knowing that there are many other titles out there waiting to be explored. During the selection process, I bumped into many animes that has their own uniqueness. For an example, Excel Saga was known as one of the funniest anime before this and for now – I personally recommend Gintama if you are looking for some funny anime to watch. Other than that, Eiken still holds the record as the non-hentai anime with largest pair of tits followed by Mizuki Tachibana from the Gravion Zwei series unless somebody can nominate any female characters that can beat the ones from Eiken. I didnt list Eiken in here because the anime doesnt have any nipple shots in them. I’ve uploaded a few caps from the anime below to show you how healthy their milk jugs are . Just compare them with the size of the characters’ head.

I’ll stop my nonsense-talk here for now, knowing you all are going to hate me for this and some of you also wont even bother to read what I’ve written here. By the way, below are a few more anime with ecchi scenes in them, some from TV, some from DVD versions, series and some are OVAs. Enjoy .

There are some phrases said that just stick in my memory long after they’ve been said in anime. Those or phrases that are interesting enough, absurd enough, thought-provoking enough, or awesome enough (the latter makes up the majority of them) that I want to share them with others, but need to write them down before I forget them, or something like that. Either way, what you see are what worked for me, and hopefully why they worked for me. Remember that these are statements that I write down under the mercy of whoever decided to translate them, so if these aren’t the correct results, forgive me. And again, feel free to also add your thoughts on phrases you heard and think are awesome.

That which misunderstandings are made of. A pseudo-philosophical moment from Katsura-sensei to her students, where she felt like they finally understood what she was teaching. Of course, they were focused on the fact that their teacher was apparently leaving.

Akari’s such a natural romantic, inspiring many from fellow Undines to Salamanders to a sweets seller in this case. The amount of effort that you put into something shows, and if you put all of your focus into doing the best you can on most things you do, those feelings communicate with everyone else. It just goes to show you that it’s all about heart. :3

Spoken during the first season’s story’s climax by Nagisa’s father, it encompasses the meaning of the whole show, when you think about it. Throughout all the episodes, you see many variations of what it means to be a family, and what having a family means as well. So it wasn’t a necessary statement, but it’s good to state the obvious sometimes.

Satori getting pissed off at Miya-Miya actually turning to run away from  kendo because of an “unbeatable” rival resulted in her saying the above phrase. Of course it comes from a long line of inspiring statements to get someone out of their funk, but the fact that it came from the person you could say is the meekest of the group (though even saying that isn’t really true), and the fact that it’s directed to someone who is supposed to be me one of the more confident and (reasonably) collected members of the squad makes the moment special.

Wish I saw more of this from her against Miya-Miya in the show.

What makes this work for me is the phrase “by myself”, coming after Noe finds that the last page is missing in the book that Shinichiro was able to finish because of her. For Noe who’s been an observer of other character’s stories for the series, it makes sense that in her own story, literally and figuratively speaking, she has to make her own ending as she’s watch everyone else “end” theirs. Noe realizes that she still has a long way to go to get to where Shinichiro is; that is, he’s flying while she’s still on the ground.  But just realizing that is a start.

-”So you’ve become a person who can say that.“, Kurenai

A phrase that Ginko keeps saying to Shinkurou every time he tries to act like a professional, mature person, like what his job entails him to be. The problem is, that’s what he’s definitely not, and Ginko knows that. So what I want to know is, why doesn’t she just tell it too him straight, especially when she also knows that Shinkurou has the tendency of moving with blinders on. Oh well.

Because Kogarashi is that frickin awesome, even when blind, deaf, and without the sense of touch, he’s still an unstoppable badass. Trust.

-”Allison, don’t tell me you’re…” “Yes I am. After all, the villain has taken the princess hostage. Don’t you think I have to save her right away?“, Episode 8 of Allison & Lillia

A conversation between Allison and Will that pretty much explains who’s the assertive, fun and awesome one in the relationship between the two. If only she voiced her emotions sooner.

- “The maidens who assemble in Gojyu Hissatsu Academy today, too, go over high hurdles with smiles on their faces. The pleats on their skirts should never rip. No weapons should peek out of their sailor collars. First hit wins! One-hit kills! Hittine before being hit is preferred here.“, Episode 20 of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

This is what’s said during Kyouka’s blurb in the OP for this episode. What makes this great for me is that for those who recognize the pattern, it’s a parody of the intro to Maria-sama ga Miteru. And it only makes me wonder if there was an alternate reality of just that thing happening over at Lillian Girls Academy. Time will tell with this new season coming up.

I would not mind seeing something like this.

-”When you move forward, you mustn’t look down! Smile and look forward!“, episode 96 of Chi’s Sweet Home.

Probably the only thing I’d get from this show, as the black cat gives these words of advice to Chi, who’s only really finally started to understand what it means to be a cat, as well as how nature works. Granted, given the fact that Chi tends to follow this advice anyway, albeit without really paying attention to her surroundings, I’d like to think this piece of advice is also directed to us the audience. It speaks of a “live life to the fullest” sentiment to me, and goodness knows we always need more of that. :3

-”After all, I am one hell of a butler.“, Kuroshitsuji

Said at the end of every episode preview, and sometimes during the show. Because it’s true. Sebastian’s butler skills, considering what he is, are indeed outerworldly. It makes me laugh every time I see it, because mostly everyone else in the cast has no idea.

-”As a most wonderful fact, I, Kyouka-sama, am omniscient and omnipotent!“,  Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

I think what strikes me more about the phrase than anything else is how boastful Kyouka is, and how while she’s pretty powerful and more perceptive in her own right, this is almost never true.

- “Is that so?“, Michiko to Hatchin

What makes this special to me is not the phrase, which is uttered by Hana frequently in the show, but how she does it. Often in situations where she’s skeptical, bewildered or confused about what’s going on, it comes out “Sou… desu ka”, where that delay in the middle of the sentence highlights that feeling she has. Of course, given the current situation that she’s in with Michiko, it sorta gives her the right to feel apprehensive with whatever happens to her.

-”IT’S A SONY!“, episode 7 of Kannagi

In a episode with other phrases that I could use that I liked (“Oishinbou in my right hand. Calpis in my left. With these, I can fight for another ten years.”, from Nagi), it’s Akiba that steals the show with this line. To me, it highlights Sony’s history in media format wars, as well as how out of touch Akiba can be.  That and how it seems like an awesome punch line to any joke, now that I think of it.

And he says it complete with the "Nice Guy Pose!". So awesome.

Part 1: Interesting People

This year was insane with the amount of anime openings and endings that I liked, and it was hard to narrow down the amount to a “reasonable” number… so I didn’t really attempt to. But these ones here (coupled with Youtube videos) are the ones that stick in my mind the most over the year visually, aurally, or both. That being said, there is a list of Honorable Mentions at the end of the post to include OP/EDs that were also good, but stuff I could easily leave as well. I’m much more critical of music than I am of anime, but doesn’t mean that I have standards.

-ARIA The ORIGINATION ED – “Kin no Nami Sen no Nami”, Akino Arai

A great departure from the previous EDs done by ROUND TABLE feat. Nino and the ARIA seiyuu, and IMO the best ED song of all the series. Arai’s voice, as soft and flowing as I remember it, definitely encompasses the feel of Neo Venezia that I get from ARIA: Calming, smooth, ethereal, beautiful and wonderful.  Getting an idea how how Akari sees Neo Venezia helps as well. Favorite parts of the video: Akari looking through the multi-colored stone, the shots of her dear friends, and the rainbow over the lone undine rowing along the water.

-Spice and Wolf OP – “Tabi no Tochuu”, Kiyoura Natsumi

My favorite OP of the year song-wise, it had me at Natsumi’s first vocals. It has a simple, waltz-like melody (helps that the song has a ¾ time signature, or so I’d like to think) that I usually catch myself singing along with as it plays, especially at the chorus with the male accompaniment. It tells a story of a journey with and unknown destination (duh), coupled with the visuals that basically explain how Horo and Lawrence meet, partner up, and continue on this intriguing journey. The combo rouses me, making me want to join up with them on their journey. Favorite parts of the video: Yay beginning snowfall, Lawrence looking a little disturbed while Horo slyly grins just before the chorus, Horo flicking her hidden tail while she and Lawrence stand together, the handshake.

-Gunslinger Girl – Il Teatrino OP – “Tatta Hitotsu no Omoi”, KOKIA

Regardless of what people might think about the second season of the show (it’s not actually that bad, despite it’s radically different appearance), I wouldn’t think that people would be bugged that much by the OP, at least song-wise, though it’s no Delgados (as digitalboy might complain about). The dual vocals I hear from KOKIA help keep the tension and seriousness of the song ramped up as they go towards the chorus with determination, and I enjoy that. Of the two versions of the OP video (changes halfway for those who haven’t watched it), I prefer the second one, as though the first one is an interesting usage of montage and real life, it didn’t really explain what the show was about. Favorite parts of the video: Rico’s leap from roof to roof, Angelica’s footsteps, the dichotomy between Pinocchio’s and Triela’s upbringing, and the final faceoff between the two.

-Allison & Lillia OP – “Tameiki no Hashi”, Kuricoder Quartet & Yukawa Shione

The Kuricoder Quartet (seems quite a fun departure from the Kuricoder Orchestra for Azumanga Daioh) work well in making Shione’s vocals more like a folk song from times gone by. The vocals themselves are nice enough to me on their own though, but the instrumentation helps keep them from flying away, if that makes any sense. The visuals of our main pairs of protagonists for both halves flying around in their planes provide a nice backdrop for the song, but only at the end of the first version where we see Allison and Will admiring the scenery does it click in my head.

-Macross Frontier ED -  “Diamond Crevasse”, May’n

This is my favorite of the OP/EDs of the show, which was no contest in my opinion (though “Aimo” is still <3). I felt that Sheryl Nome bringing the audience home after all the action and antics that happened in the episode was great, making for an awesome closer. And I feel that the chorus just brings the house down, also providing a fitting coda to Yoko Kanno’s masterful work on the OST. It’s just “Go Home People” after that. :3 Favorite part of the video: the ending shot, which was great on episode 7 (I believe), since it ends up being the last shot of her powerful concert on Frontier.

-Kamen no Maid Guy ED – “Wakugai!!”, Yoshiki Fukuyama

Hearing this, I couldn’t help but imagine Basara rocking out to it, since Fukuyama is his singing voice for Macross 7. That aside, the pulsing song starts off strong from the initial drumbeat (or just from Kogarashi’s declaration with awesome screech at the end), and it never lets up. Just as our awesome Maid Guy never lets up on Naeka or Fubuki in the awesome ED video. Favorite parts of the video: the frightened pair running away from Kogarashi to the beat, their frightened faces cornered by his insanity near the end, and Kogarashi triumphant at the end.

-Kyouran Kazoku Nikki OP – “Chousai Kenbo Sengen”, MOSAIC.WAV

I’ve only really gotten into MOSAIC.WAV within the past year of so, but I’ve been liking a lot of their more recent stuff they’ve pumped out for anime, and this is an example. The pumping Akiba-Pop coupled with the waves of quickly spoken words throughout the sung vocals greatly demonstrates the hyper mood of the show, especially with the accompanying animation, which is one of my favorites of the year. The combo is probably a good representation of Kyouka’s decree to overload the world with frenzy, especially with her different declarations at the end of the OP in every episode. Favorites parts of the video: Umm, everything? Especially the intro with the mini-Kyouka’s introducing a Kyouka on the world, Kyouka parachuting onto Ouka’s head, the Midarezaki family getting ready to rumble, everyone pointing, from the running away of Ginka, Chika and Ouka from Kyouka to the end of the video.

-Soul Eater OP 1 – “resonance”, T.M. Revolution

It’s been a while since I’ve heard T.M. Revolution as such in anime, and it was great to hear him again for this first OP.  But the video takes precendence to me, as I loved the kinetic camerawork throughout, the stylized nature everywhere and everything, and how there was always some form of movement present by anyone of the characters. Favorite parts: Ummm everything? Specifically, the zoom out from the moon to the main characters stopping at Maka and Soul walking, Shinigami-san’s hand movements (Baka-Raptor doing it was a good moment for me), Medusa’s dancing Soul Eater punching the camera away, and Maka and Soul fighting (yay).

-Hidamari Sketch x365 OP  - “? de Wasshoi”, Kana Asumi, Kaori Mizuhashi, Yuuko Goto and Ryouko Shintani

Happy Happy Hidamari. I don’t feel like I need to say anything more about the song. Favorite parts of the video: It’s Hidamari Sketch. Everything to me.

-Birdy The Mighty Decode ED – “Let’s go together”, Afromania

Whenever Afromania is involved, you’re in for a rocking good time, and that’s the case with “Let’s go together”, which expresses fun vibes all around, as if one’s relaxing on the beach, if that makes any sense. It must be the opening quintet of notes from the guitar to the drumbeat and vocals kicking in. “Let’s go! Have a good time!”, indeed. I also enjoyed the video which pretty much just consisted of Tsutomu following the bands advice, with a silhouette of him dancing on by, and hi-fiving Birdy on the way. Good times.

-Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora OP – “Fly Away”, THYME

It had me at the Engrish, “good night Days, good old Days” sung by THYME, and I joined in when the main rocking tune came in, as this is another one of my favorite OP songs. It was interesting to see how the lyrics that seemed to be the one of someone who’s nervous and nostalgic for earlier times contrasted with what seems to be a genuinely positive-sounding tune and video showing Sora and others in Tokyo living life.  Either way, it was good introduction of THYME to me (and their work on the ToLoveRU OP wasn’t bad either), and with their first album released (which I heartily recommend to those who like “Fly Away”), it’s a band I hope to hear from much later down the line. Favorite parts of the video: people stretching,  the beginning grind of a day, Sora going up and down a hill on her bike, and the photo with her and her dog.

-Tytania ED – “LOST IN SPACE”, Psychic Lover

The song and video screams “80s” to me. In terms of the music, it comes from the synthesizer, the general melody, the lyrics (Win, Lose, or Draw!, Dive into the light!), and so on. The video? Okay, mostly from Lira’s movement between the walking Fan in the middle of the chorus. That and the attire of the non-Tytania cast. And that’s okay with me.

-Penguin Musume Heart 2^nd ED - “Yurayura + Yuriyura + Nananana”, PNGN3: Azusa Kataoka, Mariya Ise, Yoshino Nanjou

Sung by the main trio of the show, the song gets me at the get go from the first “na” on it’s main rockish theme, I guess. Shows that it really doesn’t take much for me  to enjoy a song. The video doesn’t really serve any point at all, but it’s still fun to watch anyway (kinda like the main show). Extra kudos goes to IOSYS (yay Touhou flashes), which apparently animated this ED (let me know if I’m wrong). Favorite parts of the video: Sakura holding the “na” bubble, Marie Whitebear drinking tea on top of a toilet, Sakura on the apple (wonder what that’s about), Sakura happy to have friends, and the rainbow (yay!).

-Kannagi OP – “motto ☆ hade ni ne!”, Haruka Tomatsu

The song itself really doesn’t stay in my head that well, but when coupled with the best opening animation of the year IMO, it stands out well. Tells of an alternate reality, or probably Nagi’s dream in being a popular idol that gives her the faith she needs to exorcise impurities and then some. Favorite parts of the video: everything.

-Ga-rei Zero OP – “Paradise Lost”, Chihara Minori

A pulsing pop song that doesn’t stop from the first beat to the last, with nice synthesizers and strings and a nice Eastern flair hidden in there. Given that I don’t really listen to songs from Minorin, I do like what’s done here, though apparently the song isn’t as well received as some of her other stuff? Either way, I enjoyed that and the opening video tied to it, especially because the latter evokes sad feelings as I know what’s going to happen. ;_; Favorite parts of video: Kagura looking up at the beginning, Kagura and Yomi walking in opposite directions on the sidewalk, the Nabuu brothers bobbing side to side, the chairman waving, the silhouettes of the main group moving off and leaving Kagura to stand on her own, basically any moment with Kagura and Yomi together (;_;).

-Clannad After Story OP – “Toki wo Kizamu Uta”, Lia

This OP gave me much more than the first one, with a better song, and better visuals to match. I myself am still trying to figure out the varying time signatures of the piece (does it go into 27/8ths somewhere? At least 5/8 time after the main chorus I’d like to think), which I feel is pretty clever to keep me listening to a song. Lia never losing the beat is awesome in itself, and when she and the song go into the chorus, it’s magical. Favorite part of the video: the various shots of Nagisa before the zoom out of Tomoya and Yoshino in their electrical company van, the Nagisa and Tomoyo profiles, and Nagisa floating in the end.

-Michiko to Hatchin OP – “Paraiso”, Soil & “Pimp” Sessions

Pure Brazil in the song, the only instrumental piece of the openings and endings here, and it’s great. Both the song and the video jazzy, sassy, happy and very colorful, and they are a joy to experience. Favorite parts of the video, the intros of Michiko and Hatchin, the close-up shots of them on the motorcycle during the “chorus”, and them driving away.
