There is a certain Congress man who goes by the name of Digvijay Singh, this politician needs censorship more than anyone else. Numerous others have abused the freedom of speech in a manner that best fir their own ulterior motives. So why isn’t the common man, the voting class, allowed this? Why is that a platform that connects people in their outrage against the system being marked for censorship? The answers don’t lie at 10 Janpath for this particular question, but instead in Ralegan Siddhi and some countries of the world like Tunisia and Egypt.

That Anna Hazare, the Jan Lokpal crusader has brought the government of India on its knees twice in a few months doesn’t go down well with the ruling party. The Gandhian, immensely popular with young and old both in India and abroad, has been successful in uniting the citizens of India like no one else in the recent past. Twitter and Facebook have both played an important part in this particular revolution. People have found a platform(s) where they can share views and get in touch with like minded folks. This scares the wit out of the government. There were reports that India Against corruption facebook page which was suspended recently was a deliberate and surreptitious attempt.

No ruler whether democratically elected or otherwise, likes the citizens to question his/her actions both publicly and vociferously. What further scares Mr Sibbal and his band of stooges are the events of a few months back when governments were toppled in Tunisia and Egypt by their people who connected and reached to each other over Twitter and Facebook. Thus the panic attack.

To Mr. Kapil Sibbal, I ask, are there more internet users in our beloved country than those who read the printed word? Haven’t papers and magazines with a political bend been used to instigate the public and misguide them by mixing facts with fiction? What has been done to censor them? Why are people like Praveen Togaria, Naren Modi and Bal thackarey not behind bars or up in the gallows? Why is Kasab still alive while it’s been 3 years since he killed my brethren?

It’s the amazing power and ability of social network that has united a vast country like India, and it’s youth. The collective power of youth led by a man who has unquestionable character, Mr Anna Hazare that has the rulers of this country wet their pants. If Jan Lokpal is not passed in the form and date specified by Anna, all he needs to do is make a call and the nation will be on the streets with him supporting his agitation for the benefit of one and all. Word spreads faster on Twitter and Facebook now than the wild fires. Time to change proverbs and leaders has arrived. Jai Hind.

Censoring User Content on Social Networking Websites

In fact, this kindles a thought in me. How far can this government go on committing blunders? Overlooking 2G scam, CWG scam, maddening price rise, sabotaging Ramdev’s protest and exercising all tyrannical methods to curb the voice, followed by putting down Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement and then attacks on Team Anna’s members..And the list continues.

Now, the biggest blunder of coming up with the daffy idea of censoring user content on social networking websites. Rather, sealing our lips or smashing our fundamental right of expression. I’m surprised that how could the so-called Gandhian minister, who at even the slightest of incitement starts blabbering the articles and clauses of our Constitution, forget to shuffle the page of ‘Fundamental Rights’ while he was cramming each page of Constitution with a magnifying glass in his hand.

Do some of our politicians plan to bereave us of our voice after food & electricity?

While this suggestion has been shunned from the scratch by Big Daddies (like Google, Facebook) on the web landscape, it has staged a big interrogation mark on the intelligence set up of the government leading the nation. It’s sick that on one hand, we shout about being the largest democratic nation of the world and then one of the most reputed ministers tables his insane idea  and whim of choking our necks so that we can’t voice our opinions in public on these  sites.

To add to this, he’s beating the drums hard that machine/technology-driven screening of user content be replaced with manual monitoring of pages for reproachful, provocative or derogatory content. I guess the so-called minister, who is in the habit of commenting on all technological innovations and discoveries and bask in the glory of possessing the most tech-savvy brain among all, who walk into the Parliament does not have an account on Facebook. Or even if he has, might not be able to be active there by virtue of his busy schedule. Because if he was really aware of the humongous user base of Facebook in India, he would not have voiced this silly suggestion.

The latest news that I saw this morning that Google has slammed the idea by commenting that they’re on a rigorous spree of screening the content. So, any expression that abides by the law won’t be removed just because it’s inflammatory. More so, it’s vague to decide what is or is not profane or derogatory.

It’s great to see such tepid response from all segments – social networking sites, business communities, individual users – to an inane idea of censoring user content on social networking websites.

CIA and FBI are working overtime to find that who the hell is responsible for Mr. Jobs death. Obama has pledged that whoever is responsible for this will be brought to justice.

Where as US citizen are highly depressed and anguished by this startling piece of information.
This has further led to racial attacks on Indian living across US.

Million dollar question is that who is that Indian who is being claimed as the person because of whom Mr.Jobs died.

Initial reports are indicating to certain Mr Arvindam Chodhary (founder of MPII college), it’s believed that Mr. Arvindam has mailed his new book “Dare to think beyond Apple” to Mr. Jobs for a review, reading the prologue itself led to a massive cardiac attack.

However Mr.Arvindam has completely denied this accusation and told that he actually doesn’t know how to send a courier beyond India.

Certain section of media has also targeted baba Ramdev, report is that baba ramdev requested to include patanajali yogpeeth Ayurveda product in all Apple stores, this led to acute depression for Mr. Jobs.

However certain confident section of media is also claiming that this Indian is Mr. Dig-Pig-Jay Singh, as a night before Jobs died he has mailed him accusing of not including any minority related apps in his online Apple store, he is supposed to have accused Mr Jobs of being indulged in right wing terrorism in India and supporting groups like Bajrang dal, this claim led to a massive attack of hypertension which further led to his sudden death.

Ultimately after few days of investigation, its being told that the case has been cracked, and the main accuse as told by CBI is none other but our own Mr. Kapil Sibal.

There are clear indication that after Mr. Sibal decided to launch $35 tablet named Aakash, Mr Jobs was just unable to bear this pain. Finally when the launch happened on 5th october, Mr Steve couldn’t express his agony that how much frustated he was after he saw how a moron like Kapil Sibal can launch just a $35 table that too with a capacitive screen.

Now Obama has called upon Ms. Gandhi to proceed towards extradition of Mr Sibal, so that he can be tried on US land and can be sent to Guantanamo prison.

Kapil Sibbal the HRD minister has shown intentions to abolish SSC examinations. I would say its a very commendable step. But the reason he cites worries me. He says it should be done to eliminate the stress on students and parents.This is completely unacceptable.

I don’t believe that examination causes stress. The real stress is because the extreme compulsion to succeed. For example no once faces that extreme stress while answering NTSE, because success or failure in this examination does not mean end of the road.

The board examination on other hand is important because the marks that we score in this exam determine which stream we will join and in which college. One mark less and we might have to settle with a not so good higher secondary college. Hence each mark is important, hence that extreme fatal stress erupts in the young minds.

The root cause of stress here is the difference between demand and supply. There are thousands of students who pass out SSC with aspirations to go into a good college. There are very few good college. So few that in a state like Goa you can count them on figures of one hand and still some fingers will remain unaccounted. The government run higher secondaries everywhere are considered as the most inferior ones while private run colleges are given preference. Clearly the lack of educational infrastructure is the main cause behind this stress.

As long as this difference would persist competition would be inevitable. If you try to artificially stop the competition, the only other option left is corrupt practices. Say if SSC board examinations are abolished and the examinations are conducted by respective school. Now the school administration will get so much power that they will not hesitate to charge for it. A few years of this game and the HSSC colleges will no more believe in school conducted examinations. Either they will have their own internal examinations which again are easier to rig.

Sibbal is not a fool not to understand this. Hence his next move comes as abolishment of all state boards and have a central board conducting a certification exam for SSC. This examination will be optional. That means the bright students who face the stress of competition would continue to face it, only the exam will change. If earlier it was total marks now it will be higher percentile.

For whom will the life ease? For those who do not plan to study further after 10th. Those who would not pass 10th examination if it was conducted by a board. The school will pass them out of compassion or for money.

Personally for Sibbal he will be able to show that number of 10th pass students in his country goes up over night by 30%. Many applications for government job where 10th is the criteria.

This decision would make sense only if Sibbal has more concrete plans to reduce the demand supply gap. That will be the only way to reduce the stress on bright students.

The minister believes that the board exams are a cause of trauma and stress and can be done away with. While i am a strong critic of the Congress, I welcome this step. The education system in India is in a dire need of a massive restructure. And i think, this is a very important step in that direction. Over the decades, instead of evolving, the Indian system has regressed to rote learning and exam-oriented teaching.

If this bill gets passed in the Parliament, there would be only one board to conduct class X exams. Only those interested in Diploma courses or equivalent where the criterion of admission is Class X result would take this exam. The result would be given in grades instead of marks (which i believe should have been done long ago. A pointer system similar to the ones in many Universities should be implemented).

This would reduce the stress on students and frankly speaking, class X results don’t matter much. In the current scenario, the X exams were just a source of unnecessary trauma. If the student wants to continue with the same school, why should he care to give class X boards ? (In most parts of India, school is compulsory till class XII).

If the bill is passed, then it would be one giant step in the direction of modernizing Indian education. The Gujarat Government has already approved of this decision. (Considering Narendra Modi’s abhorrance towards the Central Government and the recent disapproval of the GujCOC Bill). The West Bengal Government has disapproved it. The minister said that he would proceed with the plan after taking all states’ education boards into confidence. After that the Parliament must approve this bill. I guess, it would take a fairly long time to come into action. But, if implememted, it would be a welcome step.

Both these leaders were evasive on major issues, about economic policies or about foreign affairs. All they discussed was – Did Sonia Gandhi call Narendra Modi a merchant of death? Did Narendra Modi admit that his government indulged in fake encounters to hunt alleged terrorists? I don’t understand the relevance of all this especially when the speeches referred to were actually watched on television by everyone.

There was another interesting point in Kapil sibbal’s discussion on secularism and the people joining the Congress. When he was questioned about former BJP leaders like Shankar Singh Vaghela and Shiv Sainiks like Sanjay Nirupam and Narayan Rane being welcomed into the Congress fold, all that he could say was that the defectors had accepted Congress party’s secular principles. He said that the Congress decision to accept the former so called communal leaders was taken because they had given up their communal thinking. I wondered if Chief Minister Narendra Modi would be welcomed in the Congress if his party suffered a shock defeat in the assembly polls. All Modi has to do is, not to repeat his crimes. Sibal not only justified the inclusion of the so called communal leaders in the Congress, he also complained about BJP poaching Congress members. All you need to claim the secular tag is to join the Congress.

The only person who impressed me during this Gujarat election coverage was Zafar Sareshwala. “We need to come out of that victim-centric mentality … I mean, till when are you going to count yourself as a victim?” he said.

Not in India.” “Unfortunately, I always felt that enough has not been done by the Islamic clerics. They should come out in the open and condemn these kind of atrocities in the worst possible way,” Sareshwala said. “People argue – `what about what is happening in Israel or Iraq or Afghanistan?’ I say yes, but that does not mean you bomb the innocent in London!” These are the words coming from 43 year old Sareshwala who suffered uncomparable losses during the 2002 riots.The building that housed his stock broking company’s office had been burned by arsonists; his employees fled even as online trading continued. Sareshwala, from one of the most prosperous Muslims in Ahmedabad, was wiped out financially. Now he has thousands of clients across 21 Indian cities and towns. A German bank chief – also the president of the Munich Stock exchange – is among his top backers, along with leading Islamic clerics.

This is what is required to improve the status of the Muslims in the country not empty rheotric by the pseudo-secularists.
