Pasamos a un grupo nórdico llamado THE POODLES, y su marchosa “Metal Will Stand Tall“:

QUEEN – “Bohemian Rhapsody”:

Did you know that Karoake translates as ‘empty orchestra’? Fun fact for the day.

I do have a reason for bringing this up. There’s a free karaoke maker you can download and use in your class (or in your basement with a bunch of your equally tone-deaf friends). It’s called AV Video Karaoke Maker. Now I’m not going to lie to you, there’s a bit of a learning curve with this application. Also you can’t use it with a mac. It can be frustrating to use at first, especially when you have to match the timing of the words with the music, but the end product is worth it. The kids enjoy it and are more likely to sing along with a song when it’s presented in this format.

I’ve personally used it to make a simple ABC karaoke video as well as a more complicated song about weather in French to Rihanna’s umbrella. Once you’ve made a couple of videos it becomes less stressful and more fun to use. Feel free to share any videos you create with this tool!

Some people think I’m nutters when it comes to throwing a thematic soiree. Clearly, I don’t hang with these people. My friends, however, enjoy that the fact that as a partygirl since my tweens, I have experience setting the mood for an OOC party that delivers on many counts such as a) creativity, b) original party venue, c) cohesive fashionistah dress code, and d) follow through on party hype.

The first event of to kick off the festive holiday season is a Rockstar Karaoke party where guests will summon up the courage after a few rounds of liquid danger (aka vodka) to belt out power ballads in front of strangers. I have persuaded friends to arrive at The Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen St. West) dripping in Queen West West Sequins meets Hipster Rockstar. What does this look like, pray tell?

My imagination runs wild. Allow me to style this outfit to life…

Black Sequin Blazer or Sequin leggings – Pick your poison but you can only have one. Just like I would never advise double-denim. Seriously offensive if you double dip. While the sequin blazer is the hottest thing with jeans or leggings, the version by LaRok has a tailored fit and tuxedo styling. I have been trying to persuade girls with twigs for legs to buy a pair of sequin leggings. Let’s save this trend for the SB’s (skinny bitches) we love. Both are stunning evening looks.

Rockstar Jewellery – Your tour stylist would pull multi-chain necklaces or chunky gold links. If you’re on stage, you must think about the glow you will cast as you belt out tunes. Anything reminiscent of a disco-ball is the right direction. I am loving these RJ Graziano bracelets with the crystal accents and lightning bolts.

Stud Accent Pumps – If you aren’t in line to become the next American Idol, keep the crowd distracted with your studded stilettos. Nothing keeps the audience (or at least the girls) engaged like killer shoes. And yeah, yeah, I’m obsessed with studs.

Usually every year I write a very sad Thanksgiving email since I have been alone since 1983. Even t

Usually every year I write a very sad Thanksgiving email since I have been alone since 1983. Even that year, I was at the Crisis Center for Battered Wives near Chicago at an old farm house that was converted for poor women and children like me. (it was open to every race, so I didn’t feel special, just like a Communist number.)

But, this year I have been invited to attend a family dinner. So there isn’t too much to cry about. But everything to be grateful and thankful for. I think that we as Whites have hit bottom and hopefully there is nowhere else to go but up.

Here is a song by ZZ Top. I’m very thankful for Karaoke, because I never heard of “ZZ Top,” or many other groups and “never” sang before Karaoke, except in Church.

Now you can see why I love White guys. These two guys are so awesome, one can’t help but fall madly in love with them. I wish White men could feel that way about me, but, I’m older and it doesn’t bother me as much. I’m not a jealous person and I’m “glad” for all the good that other White women have.

Here’s “Jesus Just left Chicago,” and now we can take these words and apply them to Whites. We should and will be helping “poor” Whites down in Mississippi, New Orleans and California. The other races have to fend for themselves. If they kill us off in a Race War, at least we die helping our own White people. Not only the poor in USA, or Poland, or Eastern Europe, but even the rich or the smartest so that they can compete with other races, (Jews, Yellows, Brown/Reds.)

I especially say “thank you” to those White people from England/Holland that survived the Mayflower, savage Red Raced people, freezing temperatures, starvation, cannibalism, depression, murder, probably suicide, for our White advancement and progress. My heart is just overwhelmed and bursting with love for them and you.

Here are words to “I thank you.”

You didn’t have to love me like you did
But you did, but you did.
And I thank you.
You didn’t have to love me like you did
But you did, but you did.
And I thank you.
But you took your love to someone else
I wouldn’t know what it meant to be loved to death

You made me feel like I’ve never felt
Kisses so good I had to holler for help
You didn’t have to squeeze it but you did
But you did but you did
And I thank you.
You didn’t have to hold it but you did
But you did but you did
And I thank you.

Every day Lord is something new,
You put on your bag and your fine to-do
You got me trying new things too
Just so I can keep up with you.

Music music

You didn’t have to shake it but you did
But you did but you did
And I thank you.
You didn’t have to make it like you did
but you did but you did
And I thank you.

All my life I’ve been shortchanged
Without your love baby it’s a crying shame
But now I know what the fellas talking about
Hear me say that they been turned out
I want to thank you
I want to thank you
I want to thank you
Yes, I want to thank you, Yeah

Thanksgiving and gratitude have always been a big part of my life. As much as I complain autobiographically now, I “never” complained and “never” cried when I was younger. All my sisters and brothers were enduring the same suffering as me, so why bother.

I think it started to bother me when I saw the Blacks and Mexicans doing so much better than I, as a White Polish American girl with both parents not only “working” for Jews but “slaving.”

Anyway, Thanksgiving is what one is grateful to God for his/her own blessings. Praise is praising God for what he does for all. So I am thankful for your friendship, so very thankful. Whenever I get discouraged that there are so few that care about the welfare and future of White Europeans, I can’t help but think, “What if you were not there, and I was all alone?”

I remember what my Grandpa, Mattheusz Kopaczewski, wrote the Polish/Russian general. He wrote: There will be a time when there will be so much destruction on the earth, that the few humans that will be left, will go days and days, miles and miles before they even see a “footprint,” of another person.

Yet, sometimes that prophecy has already come true. How I go through my day wishing to find an enlightened and awakened White person and I find none. So I go about my day with things to keep me busy rather than working towards a solid future for our people. Yes, I go many days and many miles and all I see sometimes is just a new footprint, never a new White person.

I am happy that I found the ability to write. People may criticize and condemn but when I started to write I was in pretty bad shape.

I had never writen anything in my life, as I was “business machines” oriented, and one of my jobs required it. I was more of a keypunch operator, as Janis Joplin was before she became famous.

Then I saw a contest on the internet from my church, spirituality.com. The requirements were: If you were to write an autobiography, what would be the title and Why.

So I chose the title “This is my Song.” It is really after a song by Petula Clark, but I translated my life’s experience, that at that time, was so buried, deep, deep into my sub-conscious. I “never” let the past surface. In religion, we don’t talk about problems. My family’s religion forbids them to talk about problems. They have to be “positive.” Especially towards Jews. Not Whites, but Jews. So I can’t help but wonder if the Catholic Church and the Jews have some sort of contract and we Christians owe the Jews more money for something or another, or something they will invent for us to owe them. And the other churches are worse. We must be “indebted” to them. But I am indebted to no one except God. I owe the Jews nothing but a slap in the face. And they know they deserve it. They are not “stupid,” and if they are “dumb Jews,” which I’m beginning to believe is the real truth about them, then we need to teach them.

I think my emails have taught them, so they have “no excuse” for their behavior anymore. I wouldn’t accept this behavior from my children in my home; I won’t accept this behavior from anyone living in my American home.

Anyway, I chose “This is my Song.” And in 300 words I say “why.” My life has been like a (White) blues song with much pain and sorrow. It has been like rock n roll with my advent into karaoke and dancing. My autobiography has been like a symphony of spiritual notes that seem to run throughout my whole life, (despite my misery.) My life has been like country music songs full of life, problems and joy.

Well, I won second place, and began to write in there. I do not write much in the Italian bound leather journal. I can write easy on the computer, but picking up a pen stifles my thinking, for I think too fast and my writing can’t keep up with it. Plus I’ve been on computers since 1962, so my fingers can fly. Sometimes, perhaps my mind flies too far out of orbit. But, this isn’t a very nice orbit that American has turned into, not only for Whites but for Blacks.

I won’t spend time trying to resolve black problems. There are so many agencies helping them including huge congregations of churches that it would be a “sin before God,” as Mama would say. It is ironic but Mama would classify her sins as she judged others, and a “sin before God,” was like the worse offense one could commit “against” God. And when we neglect our own White Race, ourselves, we are “sinning before God.” The Jews have “taught” us how to sin and I do not think God will let them get away with that forever. But, I don’t think he is going to stop it either. We have to work with God, and most Whites are working with Jews, otherwise I wouldn’t have to write.

I was looking on the Department of Justice website for statistics of black/white crime. Here is what I came up with:

http://www.ojp.gov/bjs/pub/pdf/cvus/previous/cvus42.pdf

If you look up prior years, say 1995, you will see that Whites accounted for 71% of the “victims.” (it only goes up to 2005.) It increased after that and then the Department of Justice has a complete nervous breakdown and it dips to 52.7%! How odd. I wonder if anyone in government “analyzed” that. I mean there are still one or two White people working in the government offices. Or maybe they have retired.

How could that account for a 23% drop in one year. It is shifts to “race unknown.” And that is what we Whites became as the “race” unknown. I can see in the Museum of Natural History, there will be figures of the Pro-Magnon Man, the Neanderthal Man, (they don’t show Neanderthal ‘Women’ because then they would have to show “breasts,” for women walked around ready to nurse 24/7 without a product called a “bra.” (Whoever invented it and why?) And then in the third glass museum case is the “Race Unknown,” and it will be a White Man/Woman. Probably with headphones and a blackberry in their hand, as their blues eyes look out into the observer’s eyes. The reason they went extinct is because they wanted ipods and blackberries to work for Jewish bosses, rather than to have and love and sacrifice for children.

Now, I was writing the media a storm about the “violence” against me in Chicago. And from the police reports that I made, I never saw the person that was doing all the stealing, smashing car windows, robbing my home etc., when I lived downtown. I think the Jews could have done it since they didn’t want me as their next door neighbor, as the Jewish woman, Freddie, or Freidrich, (a German Jewish woman, ) who was President Eisenhauer’s personal interpreter for World War II, was my near neighbor.

She was friends with the Jewish woman that lived across the hall and on my way to the elevator I would have to walk between them as their apartment doors in the skyscraper faced each other and they would gossip. I felt like walking between two enemy lines, all by myself. Their mental assaults against me were probably worse than all the physical assaults the minorities did against me and my person. Together they just about annihilated me.

That was in the year 2004, the year I left Chicago because of violence against me and no help. The police just record it as a “Number” and then went on their merry way taking care and bandaging the wounds of the blacks who are a “full-time,” concern for our White police. As my deceased husband found in Chicago; there was no help or care for White people. Non-existent.

So now we see that crime in America dropped 23% in one year for Whites. Then if you check the next year, you see a completely different picture. Hopefully my emails shook them up, for I left Chicago because of all the violence against me, as much as I love my home town, I was sinking into utter despair of fear, terror, and being a White victim of hatred by the other races, and some of my own.

You can see by the chart that the next year, 2005, someone starts to think about “race,” as I had already been on talk radio and vehemently talked of races, our own White as well as Blacks, Reds, Yellows, and Browns. (What color should we all Jews? Let’s pick a color from the 64 box of Crayolas for the Jews so we can identify them better. I think I will call Jews “grey,” as I do “not” like grey hair. I used to color both of my husband’s hair and even strangers that I met that would discuss covering their grey, (men) I would let them buy the coloring and take them to my condo and color their hair when I lived downtown.

When I lived in Chicago, I didn’t have many dates, but I met a lot of men to do things with.

So the year 2005, the last year the Department of Justice records this, (and I think I will email them and found out where the years 2006, 2007, 2008 are. For that would lead me to believe that for the last 3 years there were “no crimes,” committed in the USA.

If we did not have Jews here, I believe there would be no crimes. And that goes for non-Whites. I think Whites could reap what they have sowed for 2,000 years of being Christians, and not suffer and be a White victim anymore. We can’t do anything about it, because if you look at the chart, the “Black Violence,” is taking on huge proportions of %.

So after the North and the Jews bombarded the South to “free” the black slaves, (for their own use, but boy did they get fooled, for even the Jews said to themselves, “We can’t prosper with black slaves; let’s open the doors to Mexico. Many of those people are still sober and hungry and can do the job. At least for the first generation. Then the Jews use those races like toilet paper for once the Brown fills their need, they discard them like all the trash along our highways in many of our cities.

But, what really happened to the blacks? The chart will reveal that. They should have left the Blacks working on the plantations, or sent them back, for they are suffering worse here than in Africa. And it is “not” “not” “not” up to the Whites to feel sorry for them or the Jews, for no one felt sorry for me when I was growing up White Poor.

(note this list does not mention “crimes” that Jews commit, because Jews change the laws to make everything the Jews do “legal,” even though it is a crime against White Race. “Genocide” against the White race is a “crime,” and if they hung Saddam Hussein, for “not” having weapons, how much more should they “hang” the Jews like Bernie Madoff, for the crimes he commit.

I’m going to call up the Dept. of Justice. This figure of 3,000,000 crimes against Whites is a joke. When I myself would be victimized 3 times in one year, they have to be joking, (Jewish laughter) or just plain lying.

Bureau of Justice Statistics: http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/pdf/cvus/previous/cvus42.pdf

I call up the Dept of Justice and I believe it was Eric Holder the Black who heads it that called Whites “cowards” to our collective White face. (he might have well spit on us for all the “love” we gave Whites and expected nothing in return.)

I get a Jew no less, and I told him about Black on White crime, the fact that Whites have no rights, and that we are going extinct. He only thinks in terms of “numbers,” not people or problems.

I asked him to look at 2004 and the 52% of Whites as victims. And the 23% as “other,” and he said that that means that other represents 2 or more races.

I challenge him, and I’m able to hold my own no matter how smart the Jews are. His name was Michael Rand in Statistics. I find that hard to believe that 23% of crimes are to 2 races or more, unless……… we are that melted down that the % of pure Whites is really small, and getting smaller.

I told him about the crimes against me in Chicago where I never saw the race of the person. So some race is getting off scot free for all their crimes.

I then realized that when I was talking to him that he has no heart or soul. He is a Jew. They like transplant and steal “kidneys,” not souls. They have already taken my husband’s soul, and destroyed his US Marine body in wars.

I told him of our White plight, and there was no help for my husband, nor any Whites in any school or anywhere. He was as “Cold as Ice.” Sorry he can’t help me he said. Any government worker, no matter what his job should be able to ‘help’ the White race. It is our tax dollars. I then thought “he isn’t sorry, nor did he sound sorry.”

Yet I was reading in my bible lesson today, that Jews took care of their own and never relied on other peoples for their human needs. I wish we Whites could say the same, for there was no help for me or my husband, not even from my own White sons or family. And we call ourselves “Christian.” I’m sure that I haven’t helped many Whites, other than working for them, or cooking, etc. And sometimes I feel so broken down that I am in no position to mentor or help anyone. Yet, when one helps others, one forgets themselves and their problems.

Sometimes I wish we could go back to the Mayflower days when the governor dictated or ordered that Whites would have to live 10 at a time and had to survive on each other. If they did survive, fine, but could not steal from others or they would be shot. Think of how many people in Chicago would have been shot for stealing my purse 9 times in 9 years, and all the other crimes. I think there would have been about at least 20 people dead and shot or hung, if the KKK were allowed to police the White areas again.

So, anyway, on this Thanksgiving Day, I just want to let you know how thankful I am from the bottom of my heart to you all. I’m especially thankful for those White people that have stuck around for many many years without giving up. Especially those who point the finger of fate at the Jews. That is a tough and miserable role, for it is a “thankless” job, and worse yet, the pain that goes along when one tries to do it.

I told the Jew at the Dept of Justice Statistics that Jews take care of themselves and now we Whites must protect ourselves.

I asked him, “Perhaps you Jews can help us. You are in a position of power. You work on statistics. Why don’t you bring this conversation up at your next meeting when they look for solutions to problems? “ Business is always looking for people to come up with “new” ideas and even identifying problems. They should be extremely thankful to me for my telephone call especially since his boss, Holder, accused Whites of being “cowards.”

He didn’t even change his monotonous tone of voice. When the Jew raped me he treated me like a White animal. This Jew treated me worse. I was only a “number” or “statistic.” The Jews only have “feelings” for their own people! This Jew Michael Rand at the Dept of Justice conversed with me as if I were a computer screen and nothing more.

Not only that. If Jews make all the charts for Whites, evaluate them, they can make a chart to reflect “what Jews want us to know,” and that is very little since they have dumbed us down.

When I asked him what the # was for Blacks raping White women, he said 14,000, but that it was not a “good” number.

I asked him “Why do you go through all that work and $$$ to make up reports of the reports do not have “good” numbers.

I think that is how the Jews came up with the number 6,000,000. It is not a “good” number, but they use it anyway. I’m laughing at this point, because otherwise, I’d start smashing everything in the house, just like my Mama did at the hopelessness of this all.

I did ask him why “Jews” are not on this statistical report. He replied, “Well, we are not a race; we are a religion.”

I replied, “That is not true. What about the ‘begats’ in the Bible? What about the Jews in Israel? What about the ‘Cohens?” Ha ha ha ha.

He was “speechless.” Yes, for all the Jews talking and making non-stop noise, he was speechless. I cut right to the heart.

I wanted to say, “a Jewish doctor raped me and he threatened me for life so it isn’t even recorded as a crime and would be recorded as a crime against Whites, but again it could not be even recorded, thanks to laws since 1916 that prohibited Hollywood from even uttering a single bad word against Jews.”

I wanted to say, but I didn’t. I guess I’m afraid of looking stupider and crazier than I already am. I already asked him to change these reports to identify “Jews,” as a race so we can compare our White Race not only to “Blacks,” as we descend into third world status, but compare our White race to Jews, Chinese, and Hindus, and find exactly where we stand in “all” departments of life.

Well, I didn’t say, “Thank You,” to him. I reserve that for you on this Thanksgiving Day. I said “good-bye.”

I don’t know why I even said that for the Jews version of “good’ is a “good” Jewish lawyer, a “good Jewish agent,” a “good” Jewish doctor, or a “good” Jewish accountant, (meaning that he can fix books, and fudge statistics if he so chooses. No one is smart enough to challenge them, or ignore them, or deport them.

A special thanks to those on the Mayflower that suffered starvation, slavery, cold and frostbite, cannibalism, death, murder, massacres by the Indians, never be able to see family & friends back home in England and Holland. So this special thanks goes to Stephen Hopkins from the Mayflower, my husband’s ancestor. Two things would be different if it wasn’t for Stephen Hopkins, (“Here Shall I Die Ashore, by Caleb Johnson): 1. My husband wouldn’t have been born, and no one else wanted me. He saved me and rescued me from the domestic violence at home. He gave me purpose and meaning to a dead, and depressed life. He gave me hope and supported me in his strong US Marine way, yet very gentle. He gave me children, as I never wanted any, but in looking at life through his eyes, made everything a lot better. He stood by me with breastfeeding, no drug childbirth, spiritual healing, organics, therapies, (and almost attempted rape by psychiatrist for the ‘2′ time,) raising German Shepherds, rehabbing, etc. 2. If Stephen Hopkins hadn’t visited the Red Indians with the governor telling them to stop socializing with the Whites, I’m sure the White women would have been screwing the Red Indians even more, as the White men screwing the squaws and our White Race, surely 400 years later would have been melted away by now. There is an attachment also to open for special thanks Thanksgiving and gratitude have always been a big part of my life. As much as I complain autobiographically now, I “never” complained and “never” cried when I was younger. All my sisters and brothers were enduring the same suffering as me, so why bother. I think it started to bother me when I saw the Blacks and Mexicans doing so much better than I, as a White Polish American girl with both parents not only “working” for Jews but “slaving.” Anyway, Thanksgiving is what one is grateful to God for his/her own blessings. Praise is praising God for what he does for all. So I am thankful for your friendship, so very thankful. Whenever I get discouraged that there are so few that care about the welfare and future of White Europeans, I can’t help but think, “What if you were not there, and I was all alone?” I remember what my Grandpa, Mattheusz Kopaczewski, wrote the Polish/Russian general. So I chose the title “This is my Song.” It is really after a song by Petula Clark, but I translated my life’s experience, that at that time, was so buried, deep, deep into my subconcious. I wouldn’t accept this behavior from my children in my home, I won’t accept this behavior from anyone living in my Ameican home.

Featured in the current issue of The Knot Philadelphia, the wedding of Jenni and Jay had to be one of the most elegant-yet-amusing events we have worked on! The couple’s clever wit, love of family and modern joie de vivre was evident throughout. No matter where they went, what they were planning, or the topic of conversation, they were laughing together and it was a PARTY! Jenni and Jay enjoy each other and know how to have fun!

The ceremony took place at historic Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Society Hill.

The bridesmaids wore stunning grape satin gowns with antique gold trim. Their bouquets were composed using roses, ladies mantle, mini calla lilies, viburnum berries and scented geranium.

And then there was the totally COOL ringbearer. Nobody rocked their tux like he did. (not to mention the sneakers).

Formal photos (and not-so-formal “formals”) were taken in historic gardens throughout Society Hill, including the Magnolia, Rose and 18th Century Gardens.

While the bridal party moved through Society Hill taking photos, the guests were invited to the bride’s parents’ boat, the Five Keys, for the first of two cocktail receptions. Once they arrived, Jenni and Jay were welcomed on the dock like rock stars! Their dog Tuck was waiting on board for the last of the formal photos with the bride and groom.

Well, almost the last photo. Gabe Fredericks took some spectacular shots as everyone made their way back to the buses and cars. From here, it was on to the Westin Philadelphia for the reception!

Once at the Westin, guests were invited to the Ballroom Foyer for the main cocktail reception. The bride and groom had taken some hilarious photos months before the wedding that later proved to be the perfect surprise place cards. Conservative and traditional on the outside and shockingly humorous on the inside!

The Grand Ballroom at the Westin Philadelphia was soft, romantic and funky enough for Jenni’s “wacky” taste! Rectangular tables were dressed with custom made Lavender Magic Satin linens. Fruitwood Chivari Chairs with Raisin Cushions were used, as were Ivory Linen Napkins and Amethyst Water Goblets.

An eccelectic combination of contemporary and traditional vessels held both flowers and candles: Zebra wood boxes, glass rectangular vases, square glass in dark weathered iron stands, vintage gold and plum hand blown glass vessels.

Low centerpieces were designed with a mixture of flowers and organic materials such as: Blue Bird and Cool Ocean Roses, purple, green and white hydrangea, Scented Geranium, Magenta Anenomes, Schwartzwalder and Picasso mini calla lilies, plum, white, magenta and purple Ranunculus, Lady’s Mantle, Purple tulips, Clematis, Privet Berry, Hosta Leaves, Magenta Dendrobium Orchids, Hens and Chicks, as well as other succulents, seeded eucalyptus, Chartreuse Cymbidium Orchids, Coxcomb, Miniature Italian Artichokes, Pepper Berry, Seed Pods, Agapanthus, Snow Berry, Kale, Blue Thistle, Jade Tricillium, Smokebush, Euphorbia, Wheat and Red Grass, Ornithigalum, Amaranthus Copper Head, Figs on the Branch, Plum Tree Leaves, Liquid Amber, Scabiosa, Acorns on the branch, Purple Dahlias, Fiddle Head Fern, Bramiliad, and Allium in various sizes. Whole Pears, Plums and Grapes were tucked in as well – never enough!!! Beeswax pillar and votive candles were held in green moss or large glass hurricanes.

A stem of a fragrant herb such as Lemon Balm, Rosemary or Mint was tucked into each napkin fold to add a touch of color and fragrance at the settings.

Today was a chill day, I don’t know what it is, but today didn’t feel like a school day. I mean I wasn’t in class most of the day and the times I was in class, I was just chilling. I think the only class I had to think in,was 5th period, which is pre-calculus. Fourth period was fun today, because we got to shoot off bottle rockets (mines didn’t go that far, because it was the size of a missile) and some people’s rockets show really far and high.

I know this is random, but commercials are very odd. Advertisers have been trying really hard to get people to buy their stuff. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t work, overall commercials have become more and more interesting over the past couple of months.

Back to reality (if I ever left it), I was really out of it today, like I was just going through the motions of school and not really there (if that makes sense). Maybe because this week is Thanksgiving, and I’m already in holiday mode. Speaking of Thanksgiving, my mom got the annual family email that had the dinner menu and who was going to do what, and I got put on karaoke duty. If you have been reading this blog, you would know that I had to do karaoke when my family went to Big Bear (my brothers practically embarassed themselves) and I don’t want to do it for Thanksgiving. But besides karaoke, I think Thanksgiving is going to be so much fun, and the good food is just a bonus.

I finally remembered this song at the karaoke the other day. I didn’t know the title until WK picked this. Now, I did a rough translation for this though it seems a little off; probably due to the abstractness of the Mandarin lyrics.

A thought crossed my mind – whether the generations after myself would know who A-mei is. Fortunately, my generation is a blend between the 90’s and the new millennium. I guess we could be the last of the ‘youngsters’ who can appreciate this powerhouse.

I love A-mei.

–

The broken-hearted rose is still blooming in its midnight -
Unable to find its petals that have hurriedly fallen
Arrived at the scene – but it was too late
Awaits for any response or reply but to no avail

The weak kite floating in the winter -
Unable to return to the one who once held its strings
How is it in any way suitable when there is no clear, blue sky – so why fly?

The black dimple has fallen, the snow-white tears has fallen
Expressions that were supposed to have shown have momentarily fallen
There is no colour in the pupil of the eye
The long river has froze

Memories is the most frightening, ultimate enemy
The story’s plot has fallen – the dialogues of the protagonist has fallen
The sparring scene that was supposed to be in the drama has fallen
Feeling against the heart… – there is no happiness.

The wingless pigeon; the witherless excuses have all… fallen

The songs that we used to sing, the laughter we used to share -
Are all tucking at the strings of this heart
I am pining and longing but unable to admit so
And I cleaned the trails left by my tears
When the winter has passed, it will still be very cold.

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening. My friends organized a shower for him and held it at the Chimo Hotel. Of course Niko was the charmer of the party, being the only male, and was passed from arm to arm, impressing everyone with his alert eyes, and stylish clothes (thanks Grandma!). My friend Alison made adorable little sugar cookies in the shape of babies and Ns, and Heather made an awesome baby buggy cake! Once Niko had opened all his gifts, Daddy picked him up and it turned into ladies night out: Vietnamese dinner, followed by rock’n'bowl, then karaoke. Is there really any better way to spend a night out?! It was perf!

Imagine my fear Dear Reader. Here I am in Taiwan, invited to attend a study meeting on KM measuremen

Imagine my fear Dear Reader. Here I am in Taiwan, invited to attend a study meeting on KM measurement (I’ll blog on the meeting later this week). Nineteen Asian countries participating with me as “technical expert”.

Every day, the participants and I were taken by bus about one hour out of Taipei to the venue. Then on Thursday, we all went on a “field trip” to a leading Taiwan company – to hear about their KM implementation. On the way to this company…on the bus….the representative from the Taiwan host company announced that we would have “bus karaoke”. Each participant was to sing a national folk song from their country.

I was paralysed with fear! My mind scrambled, thinking: does Australia even have a national folk song? I came up with a crafty solution – being a New Zealander, I would say that I will do the Haka (now, THAT would have been something to watch. Me doing a traditional war dance). But I was listed as the “distinguished expert from Australia” so I had to come up with something Australian.

Then the host, Eugene, announced: “we will sing in alphabetical order”. OMG. Australia starts with A, that means I’m first. Beads of sweat were starting to trickle down my forehead (and it was only 16℃/60.8 ºF). Okay, so should I sing one of these iconic Aussie songs?

Down Under by Men at Work – I thought I could probably belt that out reasonably well but lacked the rhythmic accompaniment;

okay so what about Peter Allen’s I Still Call Australia Home? A good song, even used by Qantas but heck I don’t know the words to it;

so what about Eagle Rock by Daddy Cool. Looking around the bus at the young participants from Vietnam and Thailand, I doubted they had heard of this Aussie band from the dim, dark 1970s;

mmm….John Williamson’s True Blue? neh, hate that song;

how about Gangajang’s This is Australia (which I think is really titled Sounds of Then)? no hope of singing this one, no idea of the words;

anything John Farnham??

Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport by Rolf Harris?

could I possibly do a Jimmy Barnes and rock out Khe Sanh? nope, don’t have that gravelly voice.

Eugene starts to saunter down the aisle of the bus, microphone in hand, waving it towards me. Those beads of sweat were turning into huge rivers. My eyes must have looked wider than a deer with the headlights beaming on them. But Dear Reader, imagine my relief when Eugene by-passed me and went straight up to J for Japan (they did a fine rendition of Sukiyaki BTW). Then on to Philippines, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand (okay he wasn’t good with the alpha order).

I started to relax, thinking to myself that the “distinguished expert” was to be saved the humiliation of having to sing…what???? Then I heard mutterings: “Eugene, you forgot Australia”. I turned around to give that person the “death stare” but it was the very nice Indonesian man, smiling happily at me.

I was doomed Dear Reader. My number was up. Like a lamb to the slaughter, the dreaded microphone headed towards me, with the lovely host, Eugene, happily chirping: “oh, how could we forget Australia!” (wish you had Eugene). So in a flash, I decided I had only one hope: Waltzing Matilda. But what the heck are the words?

I don’t recall having to sing Waltzing Matilda since I was a primary teacher, haranguing the kids with music lessons. Is it: “once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong” and what the hell was he doing under the Coolibah tree??

Eugene handed over the microphone. Stalling for time, I stood up and went on about Australia being such a multi-cultural country that we don’t actually have a national folk song, so really….I can’t sing anything, sorry. That didn’t work because several of them shouted “sing Waltzing Matilda, we know that”. You do? Excellent. I thought if they know it, they can sing and I’ll do a Britney and just mime the words.

That didn’t work either. They all looked at me eagerly, silently, awaiting the humiliation of the “distinguished expert” I guess. And then…..reaching back into the mists of time….I remembered the lyrics of Australia’s unofficial anthem. Deep breath. Swallow. And I belted it out. They stared at me. I remember thinking to myself: “If this ends up plastered all over YouTube, someone is going to die”. I finished. They clapped loudly and several asked if I was a professional singer. The Welsh genes finally came in handy

en ka en imakhy Senwosret, maa-kheru: for the ka of the revered one Senwosret, true of voice.

Sound like anyone you know? Do you revere the colleague whose card or whiteboard you are embellishing? Are they known for their honesty, the accuracy of their pronouncements or their karaoke prowess? Never mind, it’s only a formula. Let’s look at the first bit of it.

en ka en: for the ka of. Let’s do the easy bit first. The Sherlock Holmeses among you will instantly have deduced that the squiggly lines top and bottom correspond to the en.

Elementary. And speaking of elements, the squiggly line in hieroglyphs represents the watery one. It’s a ripple of water:

See the resemblance? We’ve already seen wavy lines representing water, in the post on wabet. But we haven’t had them as the actual letter n. Here’s an original:

It’s a zigzag line. What else is there to say? The ka, on the other hand…

The Egyptians didn’t have souls. Or rather, they didn’t just have single souls. The deceased Egyptian exploded into a whole menagerie of afterlife entities: the body, the shadow, the akh (a heron-like bird with a lamp who circled the skies with the stars), the ba (a human-headed bird that hung around the necropolis and twittered mournfully – they’ve made a comeback on the Internet lately) and the ka, or life force.

The ka had its advantages and disadvantages. A disadvantage was that it was confined to the tomb, unlike the ba and the akh. Maybe it kicked the ba and the akh out, so it could get some elbow room, with the body and the shadow. Maybe that was why the ba twittered mournfully. The advantage was that the ka got to ascend the burial shaft, come out through the false door into the offering chapel and feast upon the food and drink brought by the family or magically invoked by the passer-by. The ka was the life force, and it fed upon the life force of the food. But we’ve been through all this before.

The hieroglyph for ka is a pair of upraised arms, as found on the head of this royal ka statue:

What a beautiful, slender yet well moulded pair of arms and shoulders, and delicate, detailed hands. They didn’t always put so much work into the hieroglyphs,

although they have taken care to paint this ka the dark red colour they used for male skin (men being more likely to be outdoors than women, and therefore more tanned). I draw my kas very simply: three straight lines plus a little crescent at each end for the hands.

NB: this ka is not to be confused with the ka meaning bull of a few posts ago. Katie Hughes tweeted a good idea about that some time ago: kh1369 @SusanLlewellyn Egyptians would be sustaining the ka (“spirit”) with ka (meat)? What a multi-purpose word! Also, is “kau” like “cow”? Easy! She’s great at making these connections.

Midori no Hibi
Episode 10: “Distance of the Hearts”
This is our mandatory flashback episode, where Midori’s childhood friend, Kota-kun, is introduced.

The episode starts with Kota have a dream where Midori is sleeping beauty, and the prince who can wake her up is Sawamura. Then we move right along to a group date at a karaoke bar, where Sawamura and friends are in attendance, along with a disguised Ayase. Miya (Sawamura’s disciple and protege from the earlier episodes) acts as a pretty damn good wingman, trying to give Sawamura the opportunity to kiss Ayase (remember, miss prim and proper who loves Seiji now). Ayase uppercuts Sawamura at the last second and runs away. Sawamura of course has no idea it was her, and the ensuing awkwardness at school the next day goes completely overlooked. Later, Kota confronts Sawamura and asks him to go to Midori’s house with him to try and wake Midori, but given the fiasco last time he visited, Sawamura declines. Midori proceeds to have flashbacks to her shyness at school, and how she could never express her feelings and envied those who could. The flashbacks are kinda cute but still fall a bit short of the series standard. Still, the opening of the episode is hilarious, and the ending of the episode is character building. We didn’t really need the character building given context of other things that have occurred throughout the series, but anime does tend to have this bad habit of rehashing. However, the rehashing isn’t absurdly overdone, so as to feel taxing and completely unwarranted, and the episode is funny and heartfelt overall. Good stuff.
