Acum tanarul actor stapaneste pana si cele mai grele lovituri si tehnici de lupta, iar partenerul sau de platou Chan este foarte incantat de aceasta colaborare.

O remake de Karatê Kid ganhou sua primeira imagem oficial. Nela Jaden Smith, filho de Will Smith aparece ao lado do novo Sr. Miyagi, interpretado por Jackie Chan. Veja a imagem abaixo.

Fico curioso em saber o que o Sr. Miyagi original, Pat Morita, que infelizmente não está mais entre nós, pensaria dessa foto.

Na trama, Dre (Jaden) é um garoto obrigado a mudar para a China, porque sua mãe Sherry (Taraji P. Henson), é transferida para lá para não perder o emprego. Ele vai sofrer nas mãos de valentões na escola, dificuldades com a nova língua, mas tudo isso muda quando o garoto conhece o faz tudo do prédio que mora sua mãe ,o Sr. Han (Jackie Chan). Ele enxerga o pontecial do garoto após ver o menino imitando chutes na frente do videogame, dai em diante quem viu o filme original sabe tudo que vai acontecer.

O roteiro foi escrito Chris Murphy e a direção fica nas mãos de Harald Zwart (Pantera Cor-de-Rosa 2). O filme estreia em 11 de junho de 2010.

Ralph Macchio ficou internacionalmente conhecido ainda criança por conta da saga cinematográfica “Karate Kid”. Agora, o remake do primeiro filme vai ser lançado com o ator Jaden Smith, filho de Will Smith agora com 11 anos. Você já pôde assisti-lo em filmes como (o ótimo) “À Procura da Felicidade” e (o sofrível) “O Dia em que a Terra Parou“. É aguardar a estreia, ainda sem data confirmada, mas prevista para agosto de 2010.

Harald Zwart será o diretor, com roteiro de Michael Soccio. Jackie Chan e Taraji P. Henson (que brilha em “Ritmo de Um Sonho” e esteve este ano em “O Curioso Caso de Benjamin Button“) também estão no elenco.

It’s that time of year again when people forgo their usual sarcasms and recognize the good things in life. I know there is a lot to be sarcastic about these days and, if you watch entertainment news or The Soup, you know what I’m talking about. But there are many things to be thankful for such as good music. So, here are ten things that I’m thankful for (all music related of course): 

10. Drum Off 09: I’m thankful that there are corporations such as Guitar Center that still the value quality music, hosting events like this featuring the best drummers like Danny Carey from Tool and Brian Dailor from Mastodon.

9. Webcasts: I’m thankful for webcasts that bring festivals like Coachella and KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas to my computer every year when I can’t be there in person.

8. The Beastie Boys, Vandals, and The Aquabats: I’m thankful that there are really talented musicians who resist the urge to take themselves seriously.

7. Natasha Khan from Bat for Lashes: I’m thankful this rising star thinks the Karate Kid and Stevie Nicks are important cultural icons.

6. Insanely unique musicians: I’m thankful for musicians such as Maynard James Keenan, Tori Amos, Bjork and Mike Patton, who all take music to places no one ever imagined or expected.

5. NIN farewell tour: I’m thankful that I finally got to see NIN live before Trent Reznor retired it.

4. Deftones’ resilliance: I’m thankful that Chi Cheng is still holding on and maybe someday we’ll get to see him play again.

3. The Cure still rocks: I’m thankful this band is still touring and making great music. Without The Cure, Deftones and Muse would never sound the way they do.

2. Rage Against the Machine reunion: I’m thankful that I got to see this band reunite at Coachella in 2007 with 80,000 other RATM fans.

I’ve been listening to this band for a while now and I am surprised that they are not as big in the states as they are everywhere else. Since the first time that I heard their cover of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” I was hooked. I enthusiastically suggest anything from their 2006 album Meds, but you must hear “Lazarus” and “Drag.” They recently released a new album Battle for the Sun and I am loving “The Never-Ending Why.” I saw them live at Coachella and I highly recommend catching them live. However, this band will be on a World tour until March. Hopefully, these Brits will visit the states soon.

Daniel Larusso and I were supposed to have a dudes’ night out, just him and me.  And we got maybe an hour in before he bailed.

The plan was to meet at the Golf n’ Stuff family entertainment center at 8:30.  Just a couple of bros hitting the air hockey table, maybe the front nine of the miniature golf course.  Who knows, things get crazy, me and Danny-boy might even hit the waterslides a little later; I told him to bring his suit.

8:55 Daniel shows up (no swimming trunks). He said he was helping a friend out and lost track of the time.  I knew he was talking about that little old Chinese guy, but I don’t press the issue.

9:12 We’re finishing up a couple a slices, a couple a root beers, no big deal.  Daniel starts bragging on his air hockey skills.  “Is that a challenge?” I ask with a raised eyebrow, standing from my seat with my arms out at full wingspan.  “You want some of this, Larusso?”  Daniel looks around nervously and tells me to keep my voice down.

9:16 Butcher: 5, Laurusso: 1.  I’m like Ovechkin on the air hockey table.  Suddenly, I hear Daniel’s gay, Peter Cetera ring tone go off and he calls time out.  I’m like, “Time out?  This is air hockey.”  But he takes the call.  He’s doing a lot more listening than talking.  When he finally gets off, I ask, “Who was that?”

“Just a friend,” he says.

9:19 Game, set, match, bitch.  Butcher 11, Larusso 3.

9:20 We pass a photo booth.  “Hey, man, what do you say?  My treat?”  I say, gesturing towards the photo-op behind the curtain.  He gives me a look like, “are you for real?”  Oh, I’m for real, Karate Kid.  I’m so for real.

9:24 I bet Daniel that, in four turns, he can’t pull a plush M&M doll from the claw-crane machine.  He’s all, “you know I caught a fly with some chopsticks, right?”  and takes the bet.  “They’re having a beach party later tonight.  You wanna check it out,” I ask him.  He suddenly starts getting all squirrelly on me.  “I might have something else to do.”

9:26 Daniel hands me a yellow M&M doll and says, “You lose.”  But I just got a yellow plush M&M doll for fifty cents.  I’d say that’s a WIN if ever there was one.

9:28 So, I’m feeling like it’s time to get our putt-putt on.  But when I bring it up, Daniel-son says,  “I got this thing…”  What?  “Dude, this was supposed to be Bros’ Night Out.”  He corrects me, saying it’s called “Dudes’ night out.”  Fine.  “Bro, this was supposed to be Dude’s Night Out, now you’re dissing me?  It’s that Mr. Miyajji, isn’t it?”   “Miya-gi,” he says, “and maybe.  What’s it to you?”

9:34 Daniel and I hit the skee ball machine.  After about six games, neither of us talking to each other, Daniel says, “I might take off in a bit.”  “ I roll my eyes.  “Do you want my tickets,” he asks.  Of course I do.  Daniel walks away.

9:37 Lonely and tired, I do a lap around the arcade.  Then I realize, “what law says I can’t go on the water slide… by myself.”

9:39 I’m heading for the exit when I hear, “On second thought, how about those pictures.”

He left right after we took the photos.  It was the shortest Dudes’ Night Out on record.  But, as time passes, and that strip of photos becomes clearer than my memory, I think back fondly on that special night at Golf n’ Stuff.

Depois de ter publicado o post sobre como o filme Kung-Fu Panda retrata mal a relação Mestre/discípulo, me senti na obrigação de mostrar um pouco o outro lado da moeda.

No verdadeiro discipulado a primeira etapa a ser cumprida, e que se tornará uma atitude perante a vida, é o gurusêva – o serviço ao Mestre. É uma tradição ancestral que continua viva nos dias de hoje e que consiste numa série de provas e trabalhos dedicados ao Mestre ou à Escola que ele representa.

A melhor película que já vi até hoje retratando com excelência o gurusêva é o filme Karatê Kid – A hora da Verdade. Nele, Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) teve que encerar o carro, lixar o piso, pintar a cerca e pintar a casa do Mestre Miyagi (Pat Morita), antes que esse lhe ensinasse o karatê. Na verdade, ao realizar aquelas tarefas todas, Miyagi já estava treinando o garoto nos movimentos de ataque e defesa, sem que ele soubesse.

Un 24 de noviembre, pero del año 2005, moriría Pat Morita en Las Vegas. Contrario a lo que mucha gente pensaba, este actor nació en los Estados Unidos, aunque de padres asiáticos. Se inició como comediante stand-up, trabajando en diversos bares, donde fue descubierto. Su primera cinta fue Thoroughly Modern Millie, de 1967, que significó el inicio de una importante carrera dentro de Hollywood.

Aunque trabajo en multitud de cintas y programas de televisión, la gente lo suele recordar por su caracterización de Miyagi en la cinta Karate Kid, que lo convirtió en una figura icónica dentro del séptimo arte. Ha sido uno de los actores más recordados, aunque tuvo la mala fortuna de que una sola actuación – aunque excelente – opacara todo el resto de su carrera.

Iedere maatschappij verandert naar de grimmige meningen van haar tijd. Niet te ontkennen valt dat onze maatschappij de maatschappij van efficiëntie is. Optimale snelheid, optimale zelfstandigheid en optimaal onderwijs. We hebben hier in Nederland een paar jaar geleden een trend ingezet van het zelfstandig leren werken. Een onderwijsmethode waarbij de leerling zelf plant hoe hij of zij het huiswerk en daarmee de stof eigen maakt.

Het heeft allemaal te maken met de gedachte dat we leerlingen gaan zien als jonge volwassenen. Ik herinner mij nog goed dat mijn docent Nederlands (dhr. Koster) vertelde dat voor de 18e eeuw wij Nederlanders onze kinderen nog als kleine versies van volwassenen zagen: “Tot die tijd beschouwde men het kind als ‘een volwassene in pocketformaat’”(LG40L, p. 58).  Dat was nu anders: “…kindertijd, puberteit, adolecentie en volwassenheid…Het kind komt als een onbeschreven blad ter wereld en moet door goede voorbeelden zonder dwang leren wat het doen en laten moet om een goed mens te zijn”(LG40L, p. 58). Nu lijken we van de Verlichting af te stappen en te denken dat de puberende jeugd hun werk en toetsen zelf goed kunnen plannen. Daarnaast moeten ze kritisch zijn, nieuwsgierig en overal verbanden zien.

De kerngedachte in het huidige onderwijs is: individuele autonomie, waarbij zelfs de docent vaak in twijfel moet worden getrokken. Ik hoor ook regelmatig dat de docent een begeleider moet zijn, een coach die de leerling helpt bij het vinden van zijn eigen leermethode en toekomst. Dit is precies conform onze maatschappij waar de individuele autonomie als een nieuw dogma boven de Westerse wereld wappert. Vind jezelf door middel van workshops, laat de coach je begeleiden in de zoektocht naar jezelf, en laat je vooral niets aanpraten, blijf jezelf.

“Maar is leren eigenlijk wel te verenigen met ‘gewoon jezelf blijven’?” (FM 9, 2009, p.19) vraagt Frank Meester zich af in Filosofie Magazine van oktober 2009. Hij maakt een mooie vergelijking met Miyagi, de leermeester uit The Karate Kid (1984): “Bij Miyagi’s lessen ontbreken stappenplan, leerdoelen en leerresultaten. De leerling dient zichzelf opzij te zetten en een open houding te hebben voor een andere benadering (FM 9, 2009, p.19)”.

Alvorens je zelf op ontdekkingsreis gaat moet je een basis hebben, een uitgangspunt. Dit uitgangspunt ligt niet vast. Je kunt hem verwerpen door nieuwe inzichten en slijpen aan jezelf, je gedachten verfijnen. Het is aan de leermeester om die basis te geven: “Je moet er maar op vertrouwen dat wat jou wordt voorgeschoteld een bepaald doel heeft. Pas daarna leer je de diepere gronden en betekenissen van de stof, en kan je pas écht kritisch zijn. Bovendien kun je dan pas orgineel en creatief met bepaalde stof omgaan”(FM 9, 2009, p. 20).

Navolging, gehoorzaamheid en onderwerping klinken vrij negatief, maar die negativiteit komt alleen voort uit een gebrek aan vertrouwen. Pas wanneer je een leermeester vertrouwt, kan je van hem leren. Daniel LaRusso (de ‘Karate Kid’), twijfelt in het begin aan Miyagi, maar doet uiteindelijk wel wat hem wordt opgedragen. Dit resulteert in vakmanschap.

Worden de lessen dan saai? Moeten we terug naar de stokslagen? Nee, gelukkig zijn we ook tot andere inzichten gekomen. Respect van de leermeester voor leerling is belangrijk, motiveren en ondersteunen en uiteraard humor. De leerling moet het gevoel hebben aan een stevige basis te werken, hij moet positief benaderd worden en voldoening voelen wanneer hij het diploma in ontvangst neemt. De leermeester geeft die basis, en hoeft niet altijd uit te leggen waarom. Hij moet boven de stof staan en vertrouwen krijgen van zijn leerlingen door zijn integriteit. “Een meester is eigenlijk een soort gids. Hij wijst aan. En doordat hij dat voortdurend doet en je hem vaak navolgt, leer je op den duur het principe kennen van waaruit hij wijst” (FM 9, 2009, p.21).

Chiusi nella vostra cameretta a quindici anni quante volte avete provato la «mossa della gru» davanti allo specchio sperando di stendere il bullo di turno e ricevere il bacio della vittoria dalla più Bella-Bionda-Barbie della scuola? Mentre le ragazzine immaginavano di volare a occhi chiusi tra le braccia di Patrick Swayze al ballo di fine anno, i maschietti sognavano di partecipare l’All-Valley Karate Championship come Daniel La Russo, sfidando i cattivi sulle note di You’re the Best di Joe Esposito, canzone simbolo di «Karate Kid».
Girato nel 1984 con l’obiettivo dichiarato di essere un blockbuster “Rocky per adolescenti” (non a caso il regista è lo stesso del film con Stallone, John G. Avildsen), Karate Kid ha ereditato dal suo fratello maggiore cinematografico anche la colonna sonora. La canzone di Joe Esposito era infatti stata scritta originariamente per Rocky III, anche se alla fine è stata scelta The Eye of The Tiger per il terzo episodio della saga più famosa del cinema.
Due i riferimenti pugilistici e a Rocky in particolare nel testo: «History repeats itself» («La storia si ripete») e «You’ll reach the final bell» («Arriverai fino all’ultima campana»). Ma questi sono solo dettagli per gli storici: qui a Radio Rock quello che conta sono le emozioni e You’re the Best con la sua ritmica sincopata, il suo ritornello orecchiabile e il finale in crescendo è il simbolo di una generazione che vuole continuare a credere di poter cambiare le cose solo grazie al coraggio e che si può ancora stare dalla parte dei buoni e vincere. Perché se lo vogliamo veramente e se amiamo per davvero c’è un Daniel San in ognuno di noi.

I haven’t hung out with a 2 year old in quite awhile, so this visit is a steep learning curve for me! It takes twice as long to get ready to go somewhere, and if I ever thought that I got grumpy when I was hungry, well let me tell you, I have met my match…!

After a very late start today we finally made it to the College Park MARTA station and successfully navigated the rail system and the streets of downtown Atlanta, finding our way eventually to World of Coca-Cola. With a fussy child in tow, we checked out the huge variety of artifacts – all kinds of Coke advertisements, paintings, platters, machines, cans and bottles, etc. – and then thankfully trooped into the Taste It! room to sample beverages from around the world. Avoid something called “Beverly” from Italy, but go for the “Vegitabeta” from Japan! The South African ginger ale was my adult friend’s favorite. Not sure which one the kid liked best – we were just happy that the sundry sips kept her quiet for a little while!

The crabby 2 year old was somewhat placated by a snack from the Subway at the top of Centennial Olympic Park, but my friend and I weren’t that pleased to discover that the day had gone by so quickly and it was already too late to visit the Aquarium… Facing the drag of 5:30 traffic, we opted to detour a short way down Peachtree St. and visit Max Lager’s American Grill and Brewery. A comfy seat, with the child sleeping stretched out in the booth, and a couple of decent beers (Pumpkin Wit, and Max Black) took the edge off the long afternoon.

Our somewhat odd server told me I had an “interesting face”, so FYI if you ever meet me, or for those of you who have but haven’t noticed, now you know!

The trip back to the car on the MARTA train was uneventful and the traffic had mostly cleared up on the interstate, so we were back in McDonough in no time. The kid was adorable again, and let me teach her Karate Kid moves and helped to fight off the nibbling cat and the stinky-breathed dog until it was bedtime. If my pictures will ever upload, I’ll go to bed too…

Zoo tomorrow! I’m pretty sure I haven’t been to a real zoo since we moved to Maine, over 15 years ago, so I’m unexpectedly excited. Should be good.

I wasn’t expecting this to happen. It was pleasant, exhilarating even, but totally unexpected. I’m watching Curb Your Enthusiasm the other night and totally enjoying it because Curb is quietly stringing together one of the greatest seasons a comedy series has ever had. Yes, it’s true. Ask anyone who has been watching. But that wasn’t the unexpected. I expected it to be great. I wasn’t prepared for…her. A beauty. An icon. Someone whose career was so sizzling hot that it couldn’t be accurately measured. And then she vanished. I thought that maybe I had seen the last of her. Maybe she had pulled a Greta Garbo and gone out at her peak. I didn’t know. I didn’t want to know. But at the midway point in the show, Elisabeth Shue walked back into my life. Into our lives. And it was glorious.

She introduced herself to the world 25 years ago as Ali Mills, great name by the way, the love interest of the Karate Kid. She was tough, funny, smart, and amazingly beautiful. You could see why a skinny little nerd from New Jersey would fall for her. You could also see why she would attract a big, blonde bully like Johnny Lawrence. She appealed to everyone. Now I have absolutely no evidence to support this, but I think even Mr. Miyagi had a little thing for her. And who could blame him. If you are a guy, you think Elisabeth Shue is hot. It’s a fact, and it’s undisputed. Do you think that Daniel Larusso wanted to go to a new school and hit on the tough guy’s ex girlfriend? No way. But one look at Elisabeth Shue and he had no choice. Every guy understands this. No matter how many times the Cobra Kai would “Sweep the leg”, I would suffer their beat downs if I got to have Elisabeth Shue in the end. Granted, I would have gotten my revenge on them long before the All Valley Karate Championships, but that’s another story.

A few years later, she shows the world that she would do anything to protect children in Adventures in Babysitting. It’s a pretty funny movie, and she is great. Even the cringe inducing Babysitting Blues scene gets a pass because she is so likeable.

A whole generation of kids wish that she would show up at their door to baby sit them. Girls would relate to her and boys would be all kinds of flustered, but in a good way. Look, if you are a ten year old boy, and she is your babysitter, your youth is over. There is no way for puberty to be held at bay. Her beauty is that strong.

She follows that up with a remarkable turn in a movie that everyone remembers, Cocktail. You remember Cocktail. A movie about a couple of bartenders that throw bottles around and recite poetry on top of the bar, yet never make one drink. I’ve worked at and been to many bars over the years, and if I were ever in a bar where they were two dudes throwing around bottles, reciting poetry, and dancing to the Hippy Hippy Shake, I would leave immediately. I don’t want to see that. Hey, thanks for the show, but I really want a beer. How does that place stay open? They never sell a drink. Anyway, Elisabeth Shue falls for one of these dopes and doesn’t even mind his ridiculous work behavior. That takes a strong woman. Or an idiot. Now I’m starting to question her. But I have to remember it’s fiction, and that it takes a great actress to be able to pull that off. And she does. Her presence elevated that film. I’m not even going to talk about her in a bathing suit underneath that waterfall. That’s a whole other blog.

People really started taking her seriously after her Oscar nominated performance in Leaving Las Vegas. In that movie, she plays a hooker with a heart of gold who helps an alcoholic drink himself to death. Great date movie. It’s a tough film, but she’s phenomenal. And as far as Hookers with a heart of gold go, she blows Julia Roberts  in Pretty Woman away. She even does her own nudity, which I think we all appreciate. I know I did. 9 out of 10 guys would choose Elisabeth Shue over Julia Roberts any day. I’m positive.

After that, she did a couple of other movies like The Saint and Hollow Man, and then disappeared. Or at least I thought she did. I checked IMDB, and it turns out she’s been working this whole time. I just didn’t see anything that she was in. I blame Hollywood. There are other actresses her age getting great roles that aren’t half as talented. It doesn’t make any sense. Thankfully the geniuses that are Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, brought her back into the mainstream.

It was fun seeing her again. I hope her role isn’t just a one off. But if it is, at least she re-introduced herself to the world and let them know that she is still stunningly gorgeous and awesome. Pop Culture doesn’t need the Kardashians and the Real Housewives. It needs smarts. It needs grace. It needs Elisabeth Shue.

Chiusi nella vostra cameretta a quindici anni quante volte avete provato la «mossa della gru» davanti allo specchio sperando di stendere il bullo di turno e ricevere il bacio della vittoria dalla più Bella-Bionda-Barbie della scuola?
Mentre le ragazzine immaginavano di volare a occhi chiusi tra le braccia di Patrick Swayze al ballo di fine anno, i maschietti sognavano di partecipare l’All-Valley Karate Championship come Daniel La Russo, sfidando i cattivi sulle note di You’re the Best di Joe Esposito, canzone simbolo di «Karate Kid».

Girato nel 1984 con l’obiettivo dichiarato di essere un blockbuster “Rocky per adolescenti” (non a caso il regista è lo stesso del film con Stallone, John G. Avildsen), Karate Kid ha ereditato dal suo fratello maggiore cinematografico anche la colonna sonora. La canzone di Joe Esposito era infatti stata scritta originariamente per Rocky III, anche se alla fine è stata scelta The Eye of The Tiger per il terzo episodio della saga più famosa del cinema.
Due i riferimenti pugilistici e a Rocky in particolare nel testo: «History repeats itself» («La storia si ripete») e «You’ll reach the final bell» («Arriverai fino all’ultima campana»).
Ma questi sono solo dettagli per gli storici: qui a Radio Rock quello che conta sono le emozioni e You’re the Best con la sua ritmica sincopata, il suo ritornello orecchiabile e il finale in crescendo è il simbolo di una generazione che vuole continuare a credere di poter cambiare le cose solo grazie al coraggio e che si può ancora stare dalla parte dei buoni e vincere. Perché se lo vogliamo veramente e se amiamo per davvero c’è un Daniel San in ognuno di noi.

Eilen kävin kuntonyrkkeilemässä kaverini Ilkan kanssa ja sehän oli kivaa sekä yllättävän palkitsevaa – niin fyysisesti kuin henkisestikin! Kävelin Sörnäisistä Oopperalle asti, join vettä ja katselin Töölönlahden kauniita maisemia Richard Ashcroftia kuunnellen. Liikutuin ehkä vähän, kun Why Do Lovers? pärähti soimaan (linkin YouTube-videossa seksuaalista materiaalia, ei nuorille!)

Salilla Ilkkaa ja säkkiä hakatessani tunsin oloni Nintendon legendaarisen Punch-Out -pelin päähahmoksi, LITTLE MACIKSI. Pelasin vanhan kunnon kasibittisen konsolin Punch-Out-klassikkoa tosi pienenä (ehkä 6-9 -vuotiaana) jatkuvasti. Pahin vastustajani oli KING HIPPO, jonka heikkous selvisi minulle vasta eräänä kesäisenä lomapäivänä. Kerran kutsuin isäpuoltani King Hippon näköiseksi ja hän uhkasi piilottaa pelin, jos vielä mainitsisin asiasta. Ei Pekka oikeasti edes näytä siltä (tai sitten pelkään pelin piilottamista edelleen.)

Kuvassa Little Mac ja Doc Louis -valmentaja. Aina kun voitti sarjan, niin tuli semmonen pätkä, jossa Mac lenkkeilee New Yorkissa ja Doc ajaa pyörällä edessä iloisen musiikin soidessa!

Tätä kuvaa jouduin tuijottamaan satoja kertoja lähes vuoden ajan. King Hippon heikkous oli sen MAHA (siinä on laastari), johon pääsee lyömään, jos saa ensin annettua hittiä sen valtavaan suuhun. Tuomari oli Super Mario!

Väitän edelleen läpäiseväni niin Nintendon Punch-Outin kuin sen SUPER NINTENDOLLE tehdyn jatko-osankin, Super Punch-Outin erääkään häviämättä! Tosin jatko-osa loppupahis (NICK BRUISER, sitä ennen pitää voittaa sen kaksoisveli RICK BRUISER) on tosi vaikea enkä välttämättä muista sen rytmiä.

Alunperin piti kirjoittaa KOTKIEN alkuperästä ja siitä, miten tapasin nämä kaksi elämäni ihmistä ja miten siitä seurasi pian 4000(!!!) lukukerran hittiblogi, mutta ehkä jätän postauksen täksi illaksi tai huomiseksi. Nyt pitää juosta vaihteeksi KLIXILLE (valtsikan kirjaston chillausalue niille, jotka ei tiedä.) Illalla ISO PUNTTI Meilahden huipulla Yliopistoliikunnan salilla sekä rentoa tenttiin lukemista. Oon ehkä VÄHÄN lihaksikas Aasian reissun aikaan!

Puin tänään päälleni valkoiset bokserit sekä valkoisen t-paidan (punaiset raidat olkapäissä.) Vihaan valkoisia tennissukkia enkä omista ainuttakaan paria, joten jalkaani koristaa tänäänkin musta. En ole vielä ihan varma valitsenko mustan vai RUSKEAN hupparin! Myös fashion-postaus tulossa pian Kotka-blogiin..

Hauskaa keskiviikkoa, kaikki! Ulkona näyttäisi olevan ihan huikea ilma. Ilma, joka saa minut haluamaan kaakaota ja kävelyä metsässä.

Mr. Miyagi

Do you remember the movie The Karate Kid?  In it, a teenager named Daniel is trying to learn Karate from Mr. Miyagi.  Mr. Miyagi takes an unconventional approach to training: instead of teaching Karate directly to Daniel, he breaks it down into a few critical skills, then focuses on each until it is mastered.  In one scene, Mr. Miyagi hands Daniel a set of wooden sanding blocks and tells Daniel to sand his entire deck.  He tells Daniel to use a circular motion: “Wax on, Wax off.”  At first, Daniel thought that Mr. Miyagi was just using him to get work done around the house.  In actuality, Mr. Miyagi was utilizing Daniel’s focused efforts to build Myelin and reinforce the proper techniques that would allow him to excel in competition.  This approach is very similar to the approach discussed by Daniel Coyle in his book The Talent Code.  Now, for the first time, I will apply the same approach to the game of pool.  Over the next few days I will present to you the few critical skills of pool that, if mastered, are guaranteed to take your game to the next level.

Tomorrow I will start with part two of this series titled The Ghost Ball, in which I discuss the Ghost Ball aiming method.  This is one of the simplest methods for determining the precise place to aim in order to hit an object ball into a pocket.  In part 3, Calibrating Your Arm, I will describe the process you need to follow in order to develop the ability to precisely control the distance a cue ball travels after you make a shot.  This is a skill that very few players practice, which is fascinating to me because it plays such a crucial role in your ability to run the table.  More than any other, mastering this one simple skill will lead to huge improvements in your game.  On Wednesday we will cover part 4, The Angle of Deflection.  In this part I reveal to you the answer to one of pools greatest mysteries:  How does a player determine the exact angle at which the cue ball will deflect after it collides with an object ball?  In part 5, The Angle of Reflection, I will share with you a concept borrowed from classical physics that allows you to predict the path a cue ball will take after it hits a rail and rolls around the table.  On Friday I’ll cover part 6, Speed after Collision. In this part I will show you how to apply the concepts presented in Part 3 of this series, and we will determine the exact speed you need to give the cue ball in order to move it around the table and stop it exactly where you want it to stop.  Next Saturday I will present the final part of this series, Putting it together. In this part I will review all the concepts presented, and then I’ll show you how to bring it all together and take your game to the next level.

So there it is dear reader.  Over the next week, I’m going to ask you to step up to the proverbial fire hydrant and open your mouth as wide as you can.  Once you are in position, I’ll turn the lever and then LOOK OUT!  Even if you only catch 10% of the information I’m going to share, it should be enough to take your game up a notch or two.  So batten down the hatches, sit back, and prepare for one heck of a ride!

La película fue origen a una saga que continuo con Karate Kid II, Karate Kid III y El nuevo Karate Kid. Toma como base el cuento A veces el corazón de la tortuga, escrito por Kenzaburo Oe

Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), un adolescente que se muda junto con su madre a California, no tarda en entrar en conflicto con los alumnos de una escuela de kárate que se comportan como unos pandilleros. Tras sufrir varias agresiones, un día es rescatado por su bohemio vecino oriental, llamado Miyagi, interpretado por el actor Pat Morita, que es un antiguo soldado experto en Karate. Miyagi pacta con el profesor de kárate de los pandilleros que dejen en paz a Daniel, y resolver sus asuntos en un próximo combate durante un campeonato local de kárate. Entretanto, la intriga tiene un conflicto amoroso entre la ex-novia del chico de los pandilleros que en la película se llama Ali, y que está interpretada por una joven Elisabeth Shue. Daniel tras un largo y duro entrenamiento con Miyagi, llega preparado para el combate, a pesar de las trampas que uno y otro de sus oponentes tratan de hacerle, finalmente y a pesar de estar lesionado gana el campeonato gracias a la técnica Grulla que le ha enseñado su ilustre maestro de artes marciales.
