MEDICOM TOY collaborates with wood furniture manufacturing company Karimoku on a wooden seat. Complimenting the natural wood seating is camouflage pattern artwork from none other than Andy Warhol which is printed on the cushioning. The seats will come in blue, pink, and green, and there are three sizes– single seater, 2 seater, and 3 seater as well. Contact Japanese furniture store STITCH to place an order before Sunday, May 6th. Delivery of these products are scheduled for around mid July.

Milan Report 2011: Scholtens & Baijings

At Milan design week 2010, Dutch studio Scholten & Baijings exploded onto the scene with designs using their distinctive pastel and fluoro palettes and geometric patterning. In 2011, at six locations across Milan, Carole Baijings and Stefan Scholten presented such items as the ‘Colour Platter’ and ‘Colour Stool’ for Japanese firm Karimoku. “These colours are different from those we worked with last year,” says Scholten. “With every material we try new colour combinations; in this case we reacted to the bare brown wood. Medicom has worked with Karimoku before on their Bearbricks. Karimoku is one of the most prestigious Japanese wood manufacturers. The latest collaborative Bearbrick is this 400% version of the toy. Of course it comes in all wood and this time has been given a thin black urethane coating, which gives the wood a shining surface. The ironic thing about this technique is, that it actually makes the Bearbrick look at frst like plastic again. A-

we might not really familiar with KARIMOKU, me too, last time i saw it in KEA’s house and its really nice chair that made in Japan… you guys should check it out, i already order some huge pieces for my studio in Vancouver… ! HA !

Instinc Toy reported that Medicom Toy is giving away the Spirit of Yoda Kubrick to all the special guest during the preview party of Medicom Toy Exhibition 2008.

As we reported earlier, Medicom Toy is going to host their annual exhibition at Parco Shibuya from 21st – 30th June 2008. Some exclusive products including Be@rbrick Layered Wood 400%, Be@rbrick Golden Idol 400%, Be@rbrick Speed Racer & the Star Wars Kubrick will be released during the exhibition.

Beside the Be@rbrick Speed Racer Set that had been announced earlier, we also learned that Medicom Toy will showcase the up-coming Be@rbrick Speed Racer 400% during the exhibition.

We had learned that Medicom Toy will be released a 400% Be@rbrick that produce by Karimoku during a special event in June 2008. We had been told that the Be@rbrick will be made by a very special layered wood and priced at 59800Yen during the event.

At this moment, we still can’t get the actual picture of the product. But we had created some sample design for you to see, check it out!
