So, so much blogging from a 72 hr. visit, no??  Shows mama needs to get outta dodge, right? Can’t write if nothing ever happens in your life, right???  So, my point? Perhaps this weekend can be classified as a ‘business expense’? lol

Arrived at around 8pm on Friday night. Robin and I met Ashley in the Not Soho Hotel Bar. Quick pomegranate margarita and ‘get dressed for night out’ frenzy.  It reminded me of college.  Dumped out suitcases and shared clothing while listening to some Prince. No children or dogs anywhere to be found. Ahhhh.  I ended up wearing a cute gray sleeveless top with long knotted metal chain necklace that I got at the Nordie’s sale that I wasn’t even invited to with my Citizen’s “Kelly” jeans and gray platform peep toe shoe/booties!  Hair behaved. Face was okay. All in all, I was READY to go!

Poor Ashley was trying to accommodate 2 other women who kept saying ‘oh, we don’t really care where we go’ and then shot down her suggestions.  Like Pastis. Which is French. And not Bistro French. Fancy French.  Yes, I know about it b/c it’s in my magazines but sorry, no French food (sauces and fanciness. blech)…Nobu?  Sadly, no reservations (they say ‘fully committed’ which makes me smile)  We ended up at a Jennifer Aniston fav called Da Silvano.

Adorable. Italian. Intimate and cozy. Rob and I should totally go there sometime Had an interesting experience. Our waiter was immediately annoyed by us and gave us away to another waiter!  Wine list, all bottles. Someone Ashley asked for a sauvingnon blanc and the dude sneered and said ‘never heard of it’…we were all quietly like ‘WTF?’ and then realized we tried to get a French wine in an Italian restaurant. Hoenstly, it that a ‘thing’?? Whatever. I was about to ask if they had a nice White Zin and then caught the side eye ‘I cut a bitch’ look from Ashley! LOL  SO, when the wine came (something white and Italian, who knows?) we realized it was a different waiter!  Have never had one ‘quit’ before. And it wasn’t a case of one guy does the bevvies, another does food. The place is far too small for that. He just decided to hand us over to another guy.  Which ended up being good b/c the new guy looked like McDreamy’s Italian cousin.  He had the same hair (mmm), eyes, and nose.  And even that little sexy smirk thingy.  So, things worked out! lol  Good food. Cute waiter. Happy me.

Next stop?  A packed bar called ‘Employees Only’…so packed that we had to wait outside for a bit. My little New Yorker insider Ash was incredulous. Don’t they know who she is?? I felt like it must be b/c of me.  Straight out of Knocked Up. You know the scene and here’s the clip, one of my FAVS…trying to get into the bar and it’s the preggo (the dreaded and dreadful Katherine Heigl) and the older sister versus the warehouse guy on The Office:

Doorman: I know… you’re right. I’m so sorry, I fuckin’ hate this job. I don’t want to be the one to pass judgement, decide who gets in. Shit makes me sick to my stomach, I get the runs from the stress. It’s not cause you’re not hot, I would love to tap that ass. I would tear that ass up. I can’t let you in cause you’re old as fuck. For this club, you know, not for the earth.

Doorman: You old, she pregnant. Can’t have a bunch of old pregnant bitches running around. That’s crazy, I’m only allowed to let in five percent black people. He said that, that means if there’s 25 people here I get to let in one and a quarter black people. So I gotta hope there’s a black midget in the crowd.

Eventually got in…battled the bathroom line while Robin got the drinks. She and I got so-f*cking-strong-undrinkable tequila based cocktails (Ash had a blood red vodka thingy w/mint).  Ash also had to battle the tiny Indian/Pakinstani man who was dancing behind her, um, behind. Someone not me, not Robin dubbed him “Dr. Rajid’.  At one point, Robin and I were drunkenly trying to pour club soda into our drinks to make them drinkable and were pretty much just watering our shoes and the floor. Got some on Ashley…she picked up her leg to inspect and Dr. Rajid came over to touch it and said ‘your legging eezz ex-squeeze-it’…we died.

Had to escape from there. Ended up at 230 5th. Officially one of my favorite-bars-in-the-world.  Rooftop bar, looks out at the Empire State Building. Since it’s chilly, they have the heat lamps thingys AND…SNUGGIES. Well, hooded robes. All red.  We looked a bit like the folks in NEW MOON (you knew I had to mention it at some point, right?) in the festival scene in Volterra!  I was snug in my Snuggie, having a delicious Bellini…it was like a little slice of heaven, right there in Manhattan!  Here’s a pic of Robin and me…all cuddled. We look like luvahs.

If Ashley had been in this, it would have been perfect!

Now, I know this this is a bit of a diversion from our usual movie Mondays but after talking about the striking similarities between Roswell and Twilight last week, Roswell has been on my mind.

The premise was simple. A small town girl is saved from death by a quiet, not so human hottie. But he’s not a vampire. He’s an alien. And he has the power to see into someone’s soul. *dreamy sigh* This may all sound kind of corny in theory, but the acting and the writing were so moving that they not only sold it, they made me believe it was real. Its one of those things you have to see for yourself because describing it doesn’t do it justice.

There were so many things that worked about that first episode. For starters the hook is phenomenal. When Max ran into the corner and told Liz to look at him I was breathless with anticipation. Their chemistry is effortless. It sizzles. And it only gets better throughout the season. The storyline perfectly blended scifi intrigue with high school drama constantly incorporating the themes of loneliness and alienation. And although by its 3rd season the show suffered miserably because of the corporate tools meddling in the writing, most fans watched loyally, too emotionally invested with the characters to leave them.

Even the side characters grew into their own. Everyone was multi-layered and well rounded. They all had their obvious flaws but we loved them even more for it. By the end of the first season, there were 3 couples, involving 6 of the characters, each unique and interesting in their own ways, each drawing a seperate fanbase. And who could blame them. Have you seen the pretties on this show?

If you’ve never seen it, I would highly recommend renting it. It has the allure of Twilight, but is… well, can I say this?… infinitely better. Roswell is everything Twilight failed to be. And it is still, in my heart, one of the best teen dramas ever to air. I miss it.

Y con respecto a la esposa del Jefe (Interpretada por Loretta Divine), esperamos ver más de ella.

“Amamos tenerla. Habrá más cosas entre ellos. Creo que van a ver que pasa con su matrimonio y que pasa con él en el hospital.”

Además vimos el dramatico regreso de Izzie Stevens, pero parece ser que su bienvenida solo fue corta, porque Katherine Heigl se está tomando su receso por maternidad.

“Ella se va a tomar un receso,” confirmó Shonda . “Nos adaptamos y cambiamos. Eso es lo que significa. ” Dijo sobre lo que significa la salida de Heigl del programa.

Por cuánto tiempo estará vacío el casillero de Heigl, aún no se sabe.

“No sé por cuanto tiempo, pero creo que es genial que una madre quiera pasar tiempo con su bebe. Asi que no tengo problemas con eso,” dijo Rhimes.

Fuera de camara, Eric Dane espera a su primer hijo junto con su esposa Rebecca Gayheart, y como es tipico en programas que imitan la vida de un artista, la felicidad de Mark con Lexie será interrumpida -por su pasado.

Lo que en realidad todos nos preguntamos es: ¿Mark tiene una hija grande?

“Si!” reveló Rhimes, quién solia ser una persona anti-spoilers de Grey’s Anatomy. “Y eso será interesante. Investigaremos a fondo a Mark y descubriremos un monton de cosas.”

Ya sabemos que él es un profesional con el bisturí y parece ser que tiene algo mas que la apariencia arrogante y su atractivo, los fans han llegado a amarlo y odiarlo.

“Será algo más que una cara bonita,” agrega.

“Además mostraremos el como lidiara con algo tan serio.”

Jane (Heigl) has been a bridesmaid 27 times and never close to being the bride. She is secretly in love with her boss Geroge (Burns). When her sister Tess (Akerman) shows up and ends up on the fast track to marrying George she cannot bear to stand by her side. Kevin (Marsden) is a reporter who writes about weddings and ends up writing a story about Jane . . .

This is pretty much your typical romantic comedy which is pretty easy to read and figure out which direction it is going in. What happens next is pretty obvious, with Jane being the I don’t really believe in love . . . it will never happen to me . . . in love with a guy who does not really notice her in that way. It really does have leading rom-com actress written all over it.

The unlikely guy being “the one” in the end after a lot of trauma, arguments and denial pretty much explains the majority of this film. It also has arguments between two sisters which I think gives a slightly different edge at times.

In the end when Jane could get the man she really wanted, she realised that he was not in fact the one for her and that the perfect guy for her had indeed been the one she did not like and did not want to be with straight away. So does this mean that you cannot always tell right away if you could actually be with someone? So the whole love at first sight thing, does not exist? But eventually getting to kiss the “man of her dreams” and realising that she felt nothing, this brings up another age-old question do you have to feel something in a kiss? Does it really help you know this person could be the one? I think feeling something in a kiss makes such a difference.

The last lines leading up to her eventual wedding mention something about all that matters is the person standing waiting for you at the end of the aisle. Which is definitely a thinking point, in theory nothing else about your big day should really matter as much as loving and wanting to be with the person waiting for you at the end of the aisle, right? Surely it has to be the most important thing, and if it is not the most important thing then should you really be marrying that person?

I really think I picked the wrong time to kinda watch this and attempt a review as  I have totally tried to take more out from the film than was ever probably intended. But I guess everything depends on your frame of mind when watching a film, and if you over think it all . . .

No importa cuan duro intentemos de dejar ir el pasado -aprender de él y seguir adelante – todo lo que estamos haciendo realmente es crear nuevas historias, tratando de aprender de errores pasados.

El pasado, parece ser, algo del que no puedes huir.

Para Izzie Stevens, el pasado nunca ha estado tan presente. La decision a la que se está enfrentando en el presente es exactamente la misma que se enfrentó cuando estaba en el colegio(secundaria, high school, como le digan uds). ¿Ira a dejar que un error sin importancia- y sus propios sentimientos y remordimientos – le arrebaten su futuro como cirujana?

No hay respuestas fáciles para Izzie en el final de este episodio, pero definitivamente sentiran que la performance de Katherine Heigl como Izzie, no se rendira ante su sueño de convertirse en cirujana. De algun lugar, de alguna manera, ella será doctora.

Alex, también, está siendo perseguido a traves de este episodio, por su pasado con Izzie. Él  esta obviamente herido por el hecho de que ella lo abandonó, pero está determinado a no permitir tomar conciencia de eso – sentirlo – revelarse ante Izzie de alguna manera. Rompe el corazón.

Meredith ruega por el momento en el que George seguia con vida, e Izzie estaba bien, y todos estaban felices – un momento en el que apenas estaba consciente de lo que estaba pasando. Derek parece extrañar el tiempo en el cual el hospital estaba bien, y él y Richard eran aliados.

A veces el pasado no se queda en el pasado. La llegada de Teddy desencadena grandes complicaciones para Owen, Cristina,y para si misma. La suspicacia inmediata de Cristina, le dice que Teddy y Owen eran más que amigos durante el tiempo que estuvieron en Irak.

Teddy le confiesa a Owen que ella confundió su historia mutua con algo más, y se aleja de él, mortificada. Y Owen comienza a estar perseguido por la confesion de Teddy, y ahora se ve forzado a re-examinar su propia historia – y sus sentimientos por Teddy y Cristina.

Por ultimo, el Jefe tambien lucha con su pasado – especificamente con su historia de alcoholico – lo más sorprendente y lo más devastador. Hasta ahora en esta temporada, el estresado Jefe ha tenido un comportamiento extremadamente errático,un -Jefe- como -todos.

Está bebiendo de nuevo. Y aparentemente ha estado bebiendo por un largo tiempo. Ahora, Meredith es la única que sabe la verdad. Y ella hará algo al respecto que los sorprenderá todos.

Lupta dintre sexe se încinge în Adevărul gol-goluţ, o comedie isteaţă şi sexy despre bărbaţi, femei şi prăpastia dintre felurile în care gândim unii despre ceilalţi, visăm, sau ne încercăm puterea de seducţie asupra sexului opus. Între Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up, “Grey’s Anatomy”) şi Gerard Butler (300) ies scântei pentru că ei sunt doi colegi care par sortiţi să se dispreţuiască veşnic. Ea e hotărâtă să-şi găsească partenerul ideal, scornit de visele ei. El vrea să le transmită femeilor mesajul că trebuie să fie mai realiste şi să admită că bărbaţii nu au decât un singur scop. Dar exact atunci când el se decide să o ajute pe Abby să obţină ceea ce vrea, cei doi îşi dau seama cu stupoare cât de tare se pot atrage firile opuse.

Damit mein deutsches Blog nicht gänzlich verkümmert, wil ich es demnächst gehäuft dazu verwenden, um meinen Sempf Senf zu diversen Filmen abzugeben. Fangen wir also mit einem Film an, den ich vor einigen Wochen im Kino gesehen habe, nachdem Oben noch nicht in 3D lief.

Die nackte Wahrheit ist eine dumme romantische Komödie mit Katherine Heigl und Gerard Butler, in der kein albernes Klischee ausgelassen wird. Die männliche Hauptfigur erklärt als Tatsache, daß Männer oberflächlich sind und sich einen Dreck um innere Werte scheren – und wirft dann am Ende Katherines Figur vor, sie sei so oberflächlich und ihr wären nur Geld und gutes Aussehen wichtig. Sehr unschlüssig. Die Charaktere waren ziemlich nervig und Überraschungen gab es bei dem Film auch keine.

Die Katherine Heigl hat sich angeblich mal beschwert, daß ihre Handlung in Grey’s Anatomy so doof wäre. Wieso sie dann in so einem Film mitspielt, ist mir schleierhaft.

Se debatió la semana pasada si Izzie estaba o no embarazada, en Grey’s Anatomy.Se tenian ciertas dudas al respecto, pero según Michael Ausiello, de EW, hay otra sorpresa que concierne a Izzie, para nosotros. Mientras tanto, el estres de Richard llegará a su tope en el capitulo ‘New history’

Heigl se irá con su salida de maternidad aplazada, para pasar un tiempo de calidad con su nueva hija adoptada recientemente, Naleigh. Como consecuencia de esto, Izzie estará desaparecida por otra cantidad de episodios (se dice que por enero del 2010)

¿Qué creen que conllevará la segunda salida de Izzie del Seattle Grace?

We’ve been watching quite a few movies lately because Sundays are for football, and when there are no good games on, you watch movies. We had to get our Sunday movie in a little earlier this week since the Colts played the Patriots that evening… and won! Yeah! Okay, that’s out of the way. So, we watched The Ugly Truth around 2 pm.

I was pretty excited to see this movie. It was even next on our Netflix queue. But I was fairly disappointed. It could have been better. The ending was ridiculously predictable. I mean, I’m not even ruining anything when I say that Katherine Heigl ends up with Gerard Butler because you can tell that from the previews. But, really, there are no surprises in this one. And it wasn’t even that funny. Plus, I’m totally not into Gerard Butler… at all.

Overall, I have to say that I’m glad we didn’t go see this one in the theaters. Because we talked about it. And I would have been extremely disappointed had we paid $20 or whatever it costs to see a movie these days. But $1 from RedBox? Eh.

Fra meno di un mese infatti, Foxlife inizierà a mandare in onda la sesta stagione attualmente in onda in USA. Bhe da questo momento in poi chi non avesse finito di vedere la quinta stagione è meglio che eviti di leggere a meno che non voglia rovinarsi qualche bella sorpresa…Avevamo lasciato infatti Izzie più-di-là-che-di-qua e George ridotto cosi male da non essere riconosciuto da nessuno. A lasciarci le penne sarà il nostro caro amato Georgie (giustamente dopo due stagioni nell’ombra T.R. Knight ha fatto la scelta migliore per il suo personaggio), mentre bald.Izzie sopravviverà all’intervento.

Queste sono solo le premesse per questa sesta stagione, che vedrà la crisi economica entrare nel dorato mondo del Seattle Grace Hospital, portando il Chief Webber a dover fondere il suo ospedale con il rivale Mercy West. Ed è proprio questa mossa la più azzeccata se si voleva portare un rinnovamento allo show dopo 5 stagioni. Complice anche “l’assenza” per maternità di Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) [che però è presente in ogni episodio almeno in una scena, ma sempre a letto] e quella di Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) [che invece salterà più di un paio di episodi causa riprese cinematografiche] assistiamo ad alcuni episodi particolari, come quello Derek-Sheperd-centrico, o quello Arizona-Robins-centrico (la pediatra bionda che slinguazza con Callie), passando per l’episodio più confusionario ma affascinante di questa stagione: una donna muore e il Chief vuole sapere di chi è la colpa! Vediamo cosi la puntata dai punti di vista di tutti i protagonisti fino alla risoluzione del caso. [Gran lavoro di regia per quella puntata!]

Insomma Shonda Rhimes (la creatice) lo aveva detto. Lo show è al sesto anno e non si può pretendere che il cast sia intoccabile per sempre, quindi bisogna provare strade nuove, in modo da non far rimpiangere le assenze, momentanee e non, di alcuni protagonisti.

Mi piace:
-La fusione con il Mercy West Hospital = rivalità tra i “nostri” e i nuovi [ottimi acquisti tra l'altro]
-L’addio di George
-Gli episodi sperimentali cosidetti “a se stanti” con poco sviluppo della trama orizzontale

Non mi piace:
-L’assenza di Meredith (ma dopo tutto non poteva essere diversamente)
-Il capo (davvero odioso in questo inizio di stagione)
-Il funerale di George

PROMO SESTA STAGIONE

Seré breve. Seré breve, porque tengo los nervios saltando como espaguettis, un montón de compromisos y mucha mucha prisa. A la pregunta que os planteo en el título, ¿cómo abandonar una serie sin irte de ella?, la respuesta –¡spoiler!– la tenéis abajo. Y no os va a gustar.

¿Cómo abandonar una serie sin irte de ella? Pues siendo Katherine Heigl. Esta noche nuestra rubia favorita vuelve para “New History” tras una baja de tres episodios (recordemos que según lo acordado, le quedan otros dos sobre un total de cinco). “Ya hemos pasado lo peor, no nos preocupemos,” pensaremos. O eso creíamos: ¡Temblad, porque la Heigl se va a tomar otra baja! Será en 2010, y será la de maternidad. Tras su adopción hace unos meses, Kath ha decidido que debe ocuparse de su niña coreana, Naleigh. No ha pasado por el maravilloso viaje de la gestación uterina, pero como buena madre que es dejará, de nuevo, el trabajo que tanto ama por otra temporadita. No sabemos el número de episodios en que se ausentará el próximo año, pero vaya par tiene la tía.

Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that men and women evolved from the same species, so vast the difference in our way of approaching things. Finding a common ground is a necessity for relationships to work, a task that can seem impossible at times.

Abby Richter (Heigl) would seem to have a great life. She’s an award-winning producer for a Sacramento morning show, much admired by her superiors and industry peers. She has a knack for making quick decisions that are generally the right ones. The same is not true, unfortunately, for her romantic life. The attributes that allow her to take control over the chaos that is her job are the ones that frighten men off. Yes, she’s a little bit neurotic but as beautiful as she is, you’d think there’d be someone willing to look past that.

Mike Chadway (Butler) is a local access cable personality (do they still have those?) who espouses theories of relations between the sexes that would do a Neanderthal proud. He’s flabby, opinionated, scruffy and a bit of a slob. After yet another disastrous date Abby stumbles on his show and appalled at the opinions of the host, calls in. He gets her to admit that while she has specific ideas of who the perfect man is, she hasn’t met anyone who fills the criteria.

As good a producer as Abby is, the chaos is catching up to her. The ratings of her morning show are tanking, and the harried station manager (Searcy) has no choice but to make some drastic changes. He hires Chadway in a move that flat-out leaves the real world behind. The loutish Chadway spends most of his first broadcast on the show psychoanalyzing the marriage of the co-anchors (Higgins and Hines) and proclaims that the relationship is on the rocks because they aren’t having enough sex. Predictably, this revelation turns the couple into a couple of horny middle-aged teenagers. This infuriates Abby, even more so because the ratings are going through the roof.

Abby’s eye, however, has fallen on the handsome orthopedic surgeon (Winter) who has moved in next door. He seems at best ambivalent about her and in desperation she turns to the resident expert on male-female relations – Chadway – to help her win her man. His instructions prove to be just the thing she needed and the relationship takes off. So does the working relationship between Abby and Chadway.

Director Luketic previously helmed Legally Blonde (two of the three female co-writers on The Ugly Truth also worked on that film) but this isn’t anywhere close to the charm displayed by his previous film. The script is by-the-numbers rom-com chick flick formula, so much so that there is absolutely no suspense as to where this will end up whatsoever. I will say that it is well-made formula, however, with some genuinely funny moments.

There is some good chemistry between the leads. Heigl is making a living out of playing uptight career women – I’d love to see her in a role that is neither uptight nor professional. Butler has an easy charm that was much evident in P.S. I Love You and continues to be on display here as the caveman with a heart of gold. So much of the movie revolves around the leads in fact that there is little for the supporting cast to do. This is definitely Heigl and Butler’s movie to make or break.

The movie is just poorly written. One gets the feeling that it went through endless re-writes and revisions until it became obvious that certain things left over from one version were not fully coherent in the final one. For example, the television station where this all takes place is said early on to be an independent station, yet they are visited by network executives which to be fair, leads to one of the funniest scenes in the movie, involving a pair of vibrating panties and a remote in the hands of a kid.

That leads to another point. Despite having been written by three women, this is raunchy beyond reason. The F-word is dropped with such numbing regularity that you’d think the F-Bomb had become a carpet bomb. Not that I mind seeing Heigl in lingerie, mind you, but it seemed unnecessary and exploitative here.

There are a lot of reasons to like this movie, and a lot of reasons to despise it. There are certainly some very talented people on both sides of the camera that worked on it, and if Heigl and Butler had been given better material, this could have been one of the summer’s highlights. Instead, it’s just a passing entertainment made bearable by its attractive stars. It’s too bad that the writers, who had previously given us Legally Blonde couldn’t have lived up to those standards but I guess everyone is entitled to a bad choice and that’s the ugly truth.

WHY RENT THIS: Some generally funny moments and surprisingly solid chemistry between the attractive leads go a long way.

WHY RENT SOMETHING ELSE: Poorly written, full of clichés and generally uneven.

FAMILY VALUES: Far too raunchy and potty-mouthed for kids.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT: Although the film’s climax takes place at the Sacramento Hot-Air Balloon Festival, no such festival exists.

NOTABLE DVD FEATURES: None listed.

FINAL RATING: 6/10
