Alors voilà mes petits agneaux, le fin limier qu’est Yibus a trouvé ce que je me suis offert pour mon anniversaire, un superbe piercing (ben oui, ceux qui n’aiment pas, j’ai bien dit superbe !).

Outre le fait que ce petit bijou m’a fait souffrir à la mort au moment du perçage (mais qu’est ce que je fous là moi put@in de b@rdel de mierda !), les suites sont passablement… pas géniales et peu ragoûtantes.

Mais bon, je ne le regrette pas : tout comme mon tatouage d’il y a quelques années maintenant (pétard, j’avais dix huit piges !), j’ai mis quelques années à me décider avant de sauter le pas.

Il y a presque quatre ans de ça, on m’a offert le bijou sous forme d’or et de micro diam’s, et depuis ce temps, je mûris le projet qui trottait déjà dans ma tête depuis quelques mois alors.

Autant vous dire que je ne précipite jamais les choses quand il s’agit de mon corps (à bon entendeur…   ) et là, quand je regarde le résultat (autrement que pour le nettoyer, beuuuurk), ben je suis super contente !

Alors… devinez maintenant… où ai-je bien pu faire ce joli petit trou ?

I am kinda into that alternative music sound these days. Not that these artists are too alternative. But still, they make really great music.

Cool Jazz is a great mix of styles for outdoor summer evenings in magical places – living memories of Portugal’s cultural heritage.

Every year since its first edition Cool Jazz Festival has been surprising its audience with new venue locations. This year was no exception. During the 6th edition the artists assembled in the centre of Cascais, at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome, the Marechal Carmona Park and at the town fortress. Mafra also hosted Cool Jazz concerts in the Jardim do Cerco.

Given the success reached over the last years, the Cascais City Council and the Mafra City Council have this year decided to create their own editions aimed at their own specific audiences. Therefore the Cooljazz 6th edition was be presented as Cascais Cooljazz and Mafra Cooljazz, each with their own independent programmes and dynamics, staying faithful to the CoolJazzFest Great Mix brand.

Am trecut printr-o perioadă în care nu am avut chef să scriu în blog. Duh, cred că s-a văzut. Perioada asta a fost urmată de alta în care nu mai știam de unde să încep să scriu. Au fost cam multe concerte, 2 carti, multe chestii enervante, succesuri cu asociația și atâtea emisiuni câte săptămâni în care n-am scris despre ea.

Singura și cea mai drăguță chestie pe care o pot zice e că istodor a pus chiar link către live stream-ul RRM să poată cititorii lui să-mi asculte emisiunea aici . Very Very Cute.

Emisiunea de săptămâna asta (vă anunț cu o jumătate de oră înainte să înceapă) e cu miezul nopții. Pentru că mai mulți m-au întrebat, atunci când le-am zis că am o emisiunea de jazz duminica la 12 jumate, dacă e la 12 jumate noaptea. Și nu e, dar mi-ar plăcea să fie, așa că azi ne prefacem că este. Muzica e f mișto. Chill, așa, și am inclusiv Madeleine Peyroux (care-mi place puțin mai puțin acum că știu că-i place și altcuiva) și Katie Melua.

Oricum, audiție plăcută, revin mai pe seară cu informații detaliate despre săptămâna mea, care n-a fost rea deloc.

… demandait Mary Poole à Robert Smith lorsque ce dernier réalisait des tours de magie, sur une plage du sud de l’Angleterre, pendant leur vacances d’ados.

La décennie suivante, en 1987, juste avant d’épouser Mary, alors sa compagne, Smith se souvient de cet épisode et écrit la chanson “Just Like Heaven“. Celle-ci commencera par “Show me, show me, how you do that trick” cette fois-ci dans le sens, “Par quel magie, m’as-tu séduite ?”

En 2009, à cinquante ans, Mary Poole et Robert Smith sont toujours mariés. Et The Cure fonctionne toujours en famille.

Le guitariste Porl Thompson (guitare lead et rythmique), présent par intermittence dans le groupe depuis 1976 est marié avec la sœur cadette de Robert Smith (chant + guitare lead et rythmique), Janet.

Quand au bassiste, Simon Gallup, il marié avec la sœur de Porl Thompson.

Pour l’anecdote, les images de bord de mer que l’on aperçoit dans clip de Just Like Heaven (à voir ici) proviennent justement de cette plage où Robert Smith et Mary Poole jouaient, ados. Cette dernière apparaît même dans le clip – l’apparition fantomatique en blanc.

D’abord la  version de Katie Muela.
Attention, elle peut provoquer des somnolences. Donc à éviter d’écouter en conduisant.
Mais finalement je l’aime bien. Elle fait ressortir le romantisme de la chanson.

Puis la version de Dinosaur Jr, dont Robert Smith lui-même considère qu’il s’agit de la meilleure reprise de Just Like Heaven.

This song plays on cable a lot when Betty is at work (this is the job at which Betty sits a lot and watches cable, readers understand). It is reminiscent of C. S. Lewis’s poetry, in the following way: on first hearing, it struck Betty as being cerebral and poncy to the point of awkwardness. This impression was quite wrong. On repeated listenings, just as it is when one repeatedly reads one of Lewis’s poems — “Love’s as Warm as Tears”, let’s say, or the devastatingly lovely “Footnote to All Prayers” — the piece is revealed to be strikingly simple, sufficiently but not ostentatiously complex, beautifully shaped: and integrated, shaped by its own structure, not decorated or embellished. So today I hopped on my usual morning train (EC 174 Jan Jessenius from Budapest-Keleti to Hamburg Altona, in case you are interested) and went into the 2nd carriage where I like to sit. Somehow I ended up sitting on the same place that I did last week and I was enjoying my solitude, planning to go over the Cytology once again or read up my Žurnál magazine that I’ve just bought & it was full of amazing articles on world politics & ecology & psychiatry….

And then a young dude entered my compartment.

And then my solitude has ended & a HUGE annoyance began.

He has started to talk to me in a way as if we knew each other for the last 5 years and I’ve slept with his brother.

During the first hour it was fun because I had someone to talk to even though I prefer to sleep/read/revise/look out of the window/daydream.

During the second hour I started to get very tired of all the shallow conversation & I wanted to read/revise Cytology while his mouth would be preferrably shut up tight & he would be doing his own thing (doesn’t the boy have any book/school stuff/mp3 player/whatever to do???!!!).

During the third hour I was freaking annoyed because he had to talk his freaking crap even though I was OBVIOUSLY holding a magazine IN FRONT OF MY FACE & *TRYING* TO READ and even though I kept on replying to him in ONE WORD sentences.

During the fourth hour I was doing my best to KEEP A POKER FACE & not send him to all the shitty holes of the world where dead rats walk around with maggots sticking out of their eyes.
My poker face keeping has almost been ruined when he wanted to go pee and said that he is going….but there is someone at the toilet…so I told him there is a toilet on the other end of the compartment or in the next compartment…when he said: “You wanna get rid of me, right? I don’t even let you read…”, all with a BIG BRIGHT SMILE on his face.

My self-control skills have reached the level just below the Zen in that moment & I have coldly uttered only: “Well, what use would it be of getting rid of you now? I am almost in Prague anyway…”, while thinking he should consider jumping out of the window and ending on the railway tracks.

In the end I had to leave the compartment 10 minutes before we actually reached the Prague – Holešovice station because if I had stayed those 10 minutes more I might have commited a homicide.

I will now tell you in bullet points what was so annoying at the presence of this dude in my (shortly) peaceful & quiet compartment:

• his interrupting my futile tries on making him shut up with my glaring (I think I wasn’t glaring the best I can because NO ONE ever dared to ignore my glares…they are lethal wtf!)

• his inability to shut the fuck up for more than 3 minutes
• his touching my knee (NO ONE TOUCHES ME just like this wtf, unless I ALLOW so)
• his telling me about buying condoms in Italy (DO I GIVE A FUCK?! NO I DON’T)
• his inability to decipher my annoyance with his existence
• …

I think I might need some yoga or cardio tomorrow because so far I haven’t stopped steaming and fuming and this encounter made me so psychically tired it’s insane.
I don’t like people invading my privacy (…and my compartments wtf). I HATE people talking to me even after I lose interest in talking to them all because I hate being fake and pretenious and faking that I am enjoying my time even though all I want for the particular person is to have him/her shut the fuck up ASAP.

WHEW!!!! That was a long & fruitful rant.

In mod bizar melodiile astea nu imi amintesc de vreo persoana iubita, ci de o prietena… o prietena draga, din liceu, cu care ar fi trebuit sa locuiesc in primul an din facultate, in loc sa stau printre straini. Dar viata ne-a purtat pe cai diferite, in orase diferite…

Ann Vriend in Roger’s, öhms pardon, Romeo’s Kiste. Ein kurzer Besuch auf der Website von Ann Vriend genügte uns, um mal einen Blick auf diese Dame am Klavier zu werfen. Wann bekommt man schon mal die Möglichkeit, in einem Club wie der Kiste jemanden aus der großen weiten Musikwelt zu sehen (außer bei irgendwelchen Spontangigs während der Pop öhms Jazz Open). Die Vergleiche zwischen Jazz und Pop werden wir noch häufiger bemühen, keine Sorge. Frau Vriend also kommt aus Canada, öhms Kanada (ist ja Deutschland hier), schon mal per se ein Garant für qualitativ gute Musik. Auf ihrer Clubtour besuchte sie nun am 2. Oktober die kuschelige Kiste mit fetzigem Clubstempel. Ganz allein mit Ihrem bunt beklebten Köfferchen (mit einem Dollarschein?) und sitzend an einem leicht verstimmten Klavier. Überhaupt schien die »Europa«-Tour, wenn wir es mal so nennen wollen, sehr selbstorganisiert gewesen zu sein. Ann Vriend brannte vor dem Konzert noch schnell ein paar CDs an ihrem Laptop und zog einige selbstbedruckte Etiketten aus dem Köfferchen. Außer Musik gab es neben originellen Merchandising-Artikeln, wie z.B. Taschen oder Karten, auch eine originelle deutsche Begleitung (erinnerte ein wenig an Gasteltern beim Schüleraustausch).

Das Konzert war in zwei Sets aufgeteilt, wobei uns das zweite Set bzw. die aktuellen Songs mehr überzeugten. Frau Vriend bietet eine schöne Mischung aus poppigem und folkigem Songwriting, stellenweise erinnern die Stücke an Katie Melua, aber mit deutlich natürlicherer Stimmung und Klang. »Where You Are« könnte auch entfernt Erinnerungen an Regina Spektor hervorrufen. Gesanglich schien Ann an diesem Abend nicht ganz auf der Höhe zu sein, im wahrsten Sinn. Die Livemitschnitte auf der Website sind teilweise präziser. Zu den Höhepunkten zählten sicherlich »On your Street« und »Dollar and a Suitcase«. Und zu ihrer Erleichterung können wir berichten, dass Romeo’s Kiste inzwischen als Club formerly known as a Jazz-Only-Club in Stuttgart gilt (zumindest lässt das die Erweiterung des neuen Programms mit lustigen Rockcover- oder Alternative-Punkbands vermuten). Auch wenn der Besitzer das Gegenteil behauptet und Frau Vriend (ge)nötig(t)erweise noch einen Jazz-Song aus dem Real Book zum Besten gab (»Willow weep for me«).

Miss/es (?) Vriend versteht es absolut, ihr Publikum gut zu unterhalten. Zu fast jedem Song eine kleine Anekdote, direkte Einbeziehung des Publikums wie bei »Feelin’ Fine« machen einfach Spaß und gehören zum guten Handwerk der Songwriterin. Ohne dick aufzutragen, becirct sie uns mit Spontaneität und Nonchalance (jahaa, jetzt fehlt uns nur noch die Hornbrille und der Seitenscheitel #schbecks).
Womit wir auch beim Nachgeschmack des Konzerts angelangt sind. Ein unterhaltsamer Abend mit kleinen Hindernissen, wie man sagen könnte. Gestört haben uns die schon oben erwähnten technischen Komplikationen im hohen Bereich und auch der mitunter recht harte Anschlag.Unserer Begleitung war die Darbietung auch etwas zu, öhms, »gleichförmig«.

Wieder was gelernt: Das Wasser nie auf das Klavier stellen und im Jazz-Club gehen auch solche Stiefel

Vriend ist das, was man als »solide« bezeichnen würde, mit einem dicken Plus bei den Emotionen. Denn berührt hat uns das Konzert in jedem Fall, hier und da bekommt man einen dicken Kloß im Hals. Und das ist es auch, was Ann Vriend zu einer Live-Empfehlung macht. Sollte sie also bei euch in der Nähe in einem schönen Club auftreten, nix wie hin, bestenfalls mit Band (das könnten wir uns jedenfalls besser vorstellen). Am besten genießt man Ann Vriend übrigens mit einem Glas Rotwein; und wer mutig ist, zieht Cowboystiefel an (vielleicht sogar mit T-Shirt-Kleid) – bei beidem sagt sie selbst nicht Nein. Das mit dem Wein finden wir auch irgendwie passend, um das noch in Hornbrillenmanier anzufügen: Ann Vriend schmeckt zwar jetzt schon gut, aber in ein paar Jahren sicherlich noch besser.
