Yes I know we didn’t blog for sometime, but we have a good excuse, we have a new place now on the magical dork street and decorating it took a lot of our attention + been busy in rl too. I just wanted to share this outfit and tell you how within 10 min of buying the mini ears I tp’d randomly to a store and found the mini me t shirt which made me very excited

Hace unos días visitando la playstation store vi un dibujito kawai, una princesa gordita comiendo pastel con toda una tropa de fieles. Con varios premios a sus espaldas, decidí descargármelo.

Se trata de un juego de acción por equipos al estilo capturar la bandera, solo que en vez de una bandera, debemos recuperar a nuestra princesita ¿Por qué es gorda? Pues los malvados del equipo contrario ceberán a nuestra princesa para que al intentarla rescatar nos sea más difícil, aunque ella misma te lo pide sin parar: “Pastel, por favor!” (por dios, cuida de tus siervos que te tienen que traer de vuelta)

En un equipo hay varios tipos de jugadores:

• El Sacerdote: Cura y drena vida.
• El Guerrero: El jugador que más fuerza tiene, va equipado con un escudito para que no le hagan daño.
• El Mago: Lanza hechizos de hielo y fuego.
• El Constructor: Recolecta los recursos para mejorar y reparar la ciudad.
• El Arquero: Con sus flechas tenaces llega hasta el enemigo más lejano.

Puedes crearte un personaje y personalizarle el color de la piel, peinados, ojos… etc, se van desbloqueando conforme avanzas en el juego, es muy kawaiiiii.

Todo el equipo junto debe mantener la princesa secuestrada bien gordita, proteger las murallas e ir conquistando y capturando puestos de avanzada hasta entrar en el castillo enemigo y rescatar nuestra princesa.

El juego en si es muy divertido, lo que más me gusta a mí es el puesto de constructor, así que me pongo el gorrito y me convierto en un constructor. Me encanta mirar qué recursos faltan y qué puedo mejorar, siempre tengo unas prioridades sobre qué mejorar antes y qué mejorar después, tengo mis manías. Eso sí, cuando juegas con otro que le guste también ser constructor la llevas clara, pues en cuanto tenga él los recursos que le interesan mejorara la clase que a él le parezca más oportuno. Así que cuidado, siempre es mejor jugar con gente que conoces, activar el micro y pedirte la profesion antes, yo me encargo de reparar puertas, catapultas, yo me encargo de mejorar clases, yo me encargo de recoger recursos, ¡Yo quiero meter hostias! A mí me gusta curar, a mí, a mí, a mí, yo, yo, yo y todas esas historias.

Y parece que no pero el juego aunque es muy kawai, te pone muy tenso, porque el narrador te va contando lo que pasa en la partida: El enemigo ha capturado un puesto de avanzada, tal clase ha sido mejorada y tienes que volver corriendo a ponerte el gorrito, de pronto entran al castillo y se llevan a la princesa, tienes que matar a los asaltantes y recuperar a tu princesa… ¡Este juego es un estres! ¡Pero me lo paso tan bien que juego sin parar!

Finalmente, cuando todas las profesiones están al máximo (a veces incluso, sin que lo estén) reunes la mejor tropa y vas a conquistar al castillo contrario, intentas distraer a los que están en la puerta, rompes las puertas y pa dentro. Cogeis la princesa a casa, este es el momento más tenso del juego, porque mientras estás cargando la princesa eres el blanco de todos los adversarios, todos te odian y quieren matarte, así que intentas ir por las zonas que no hayan enemigos y cuando llegas a casa sigues sin estar tranquilo, pues tienes que sentar a la princesa en su trono unos 30 segundos, mientras unas notas musicales acompañan ese sentimiento de impaciencia y cuando por fin te dan la victoria, saltas y te emocionas: ¡SIIIIIIIII! ¡Hemos rescatado a la princesa, y encima estaba más gorda que un ceporro! ¡Esto si que es una victoria digna!

Siempre gano cuando estoy en el equipo rojo, no sé por qué

Por el kawaismo que tiene el juego, por la diversión que aporta y por la variedad de juegos on line, se merece un kawaipunto feliz.

On en entend parler à tous les coins de rue, c’est le nouvel objet à la mode à apporter dans les diners : le cupcake. Tout a commencé il y a quelques années, lorsque les scénaristes de Sex and the City ont eu la bonne idée de faire dévorer des cupcakes aux héroïnes lors d’une scène de confidence, associant brutalement cette alternative anglo-saxonne à nos petits fours à des instants de partage et de proximité.

Difficile de ne pas penser en parallèle à l’augmentation fulgurante de la consommation des macarons depuis leur featuring entre les doigts délicats de Kirsten Dunst by Sofia Coppola mais ceci est un autre débat…

Le cupcake nous raconte en outre la problématique de la cognition alimentaire. Ou comment les hommes (et les femmes) préfèrent manger des choses belles et bien disposées plutôt qu’un salmigondis d’aliments mal arrangés. C’est une des explications du nombre incalculable de publicités qui “jouent avec la nourriture” (sourires en ketchup, escargot dans le potage à l’aide de crème fraiche liquide, bonhommes en légumes…) afin de donner envie…

Le cupcake, c’est une petite gourmandise, qui rassure par ses dimensions modestes et son ornement chouchou/cuty/kawaï, opposées aux imposantes parts de gâteau disposées dans les vitrines de pâtisseries.

Le cupcake contribue à humaniser les héroïnes télévisuelles. Il révèle la relation qui les unit (on ne mange pas un cupcake, on se retrouve sur un banc pour gossiper) et atténue leurs images de sex symbol anorexiques et sculpturales.

En outre, ces gourmandises résonnent avec la tendance du Do it yourself rabattue à l’envi en temps de crise. Les gens restent chez soi et font la cuisine.

Cerise sur le gâteau, le cupcake est allègrement personnalisable. Il devient média personnel de son auteur.

En clair, le cupcake est un objet très humain. Il autorise la relation de ses consommateurs, est fabriqué par des gens “comme nous” et nous rassure par son apparence friendly, inoffensive et sur mesure.

Miam Miam. Bravo aux malins qui contribuent à réconcilier la mode et la gourmandise. La route est longue mais on dirait que la décennie des 00’s placée sous le signe de la taille 34et de la perfusion s’éloigne…

Trick or Treat Hunt @ Sunny Sim

I grew up in a community in rural New Zealand where many of the adults played the piano, and many of the adults who didn’t play the piano did play some other instrument, and nearly all the other adults were either enthusiastic or talented singers.  I grew up thinking everyone had a piano in their home and that of course everyone would want to play some kind of musical instrument, even if it wasn’t the piano.

Adulthood in Sydney, Australia has provided me with many instances demonstrating the degree to which I got it so terribly wrong: this city is filled with (and run by) people who not only grew up without a piano in the home or the desire to play a musical instrument, but they really have no idea at all about what it means to play a piano, or even what a piano is.

I was at a party held one New Year’s Eve in Darling Point as a guest of a guest. Part of the reason I was there is that one guest had thought it might be fun to sing Auld Lang Syne around a piano as the old year slipped out, and the host thought this to be an excellent development.  I turned up at the party and was surprised to see no piano. “Oh yes, I forgot to get it out of the cupboard”, was the host’s response.  Sure enough, the ‘piano’ was a keyboard that didn’t even have the dignity of its own stand – it would simply sit on a desk or dining room table (if it ever did get out of the wardrobe).  At least it was touch sensitive although, of course, weighted keys would have been nice….

At another social event a well-known business identity was telling me how he had just bought a brand new piano for his daughter to start lessons.  ”What did you buy?”, I asked, meaning the question to refer to which brand of piano, and when this produced a hazy result I offered some names of manufacturers as a prompt: Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway? He’d clearly bought something else, so we moved on. “It doesn’t matter,” I said, “just tell me if you bought an upright or a grand.” This produced similarly blank looks, until he cried in triumph “Oh, I remember! It was a Casio!”

These two stories involve prominent Sydneysiders who would have had an excellent private school education and no lack of material resources whilst growing up.  It’s simply that they grew up with the complete reverse piano expectations to mine: they knew no one who had a piano in their home, or if they did have a piano no one played it. Music was certainly not something that one did.

And this is in a city whose international reputation is heavily associated with a performing arts venue.

By way of contrast, when I stayed in a modest hotel in Vienna for a night back in 2002 I asked the concierge if he could tell me where I might find a print music shop.  ”Ah, you want to go to Doblinger!” he responded, and drew me a little map so I could find my way there.  Admittedly, if it’s going to happen anywhere in the world, it would be in Vienna, but it was clear that all the local citizenry had a basic working knowledge of things musical, irrespective of their occupation or social status.

One facet of Australian life (outside of the ‘arts’) where you do find people playing musical instruments is in sport.  Many of the current Australian cricket team play instruments, and I’ve even seen a few of them perform at a a fundraiser for the Steve Waugh Foundation.  And doctors, as in the rest of the world, have an extraordinary incidence of instrumentalists (and even composers) in their ranks. An Australian GP, Peter Goldsworthy, is the author of Maestro, a fantastic fictionalised account of his own piano studies that has been widely included in literature courses (but note that he resides in Adelaide).

Sports people certainly have a widely recognised and valued brand, and doctors still command a reasonable degree of respect in the community, but when it comes to those who run Australian business, politics and media there seems to be a complete absence of music experience or awareness (Alan Jones’ recent vocalisations at an Andre Rieu concert notwithstanding).

Does it matter?  Only so much as ignorance ever matters….

The New South Wales Board of Jewish Deputies annually sends a contingent of Australian media and political personnel to Israel to see for themselves what the nation is Israel is like, obviously with a view that a visit to Israel will be not only an informative but a positive experience for all involved.  Maybe it’s time Australian music education interests banded together to create a similar scheme to transport those with public influence to the land of Music, and its epicentre, Music-Making.

Australia is a country that produces not just excellent pianists but probably the most technically innovative piano of the past hundred years, the Stuart piano. And yet the businessmen of Sydney can’t tell a Casio keyboard from a concert grand.

Having a blog is a great way for us to show off our individual styles. We love to show off the things that we look great in and share with others the little gems we find in sl. It is really important to us that the clothes we blog not only look great in our pictures but actually look great in world. Three Japanese born players tried out for ECHL and IHL teams this season, but none of them made the cut. The economic downturn has also affected minor league pro hockey as several teams in the AHL and ECHL have folded or suspended operations for this season with probably more casualties in the lower leagues. This means that the pro hockey market is overflowing with capable players, and some players are having to play in lower leagues than their skills would normally warrant. Our Japanese challengers seem to have become casualties as well.

Former Nikko Ice Buck Kazuma Takahashi spent the past 2 seasons with the Utah Grizzlies, and he got an invite to the Stockton Thunder training camp after a successful FAT (Free Agent Training Camp). Despite being productive during he did not make the final cut and the official reason given was his old battle wound from 9 years ago, despite the fact that he played in the ECHL for the past 2 seasons. Luckily he was then invited to the SPHL tryouts, and was signed by the Louisiana IceGators along with Takaaki Ishikawa who just graduated from college and was due to play for the China Sharks of the Asia League before the team changed directions and became the China Dragon.

As for the Kawai brothers, defenceman Ryuichi and forward Takuma, who also went through a successful FAT and then were trying out for the IHL Bloomington PrairieThunder, they were both attractive players who played well during the tryout (their words) but they were cut because of lack of visas. Now, I thought teams were supposed to provide the visas once they signed the players, not the other way around. But the Kawai brothers are now back in Japan and are waiting for their US work permits to be issued. In the meantime, the expansion AL team Tohoku Free Blades have picked them up and they will definitely upgrade the upstart team. Their contracts with the Blades are supposed to be temporary until they head back to the States, but who knows what will happen.
