La espera ha terminado. Rated R (Def Jam/Universal) sale hoy a la venta, 23 de noviembre. La misma semana en la que otra superventas como Lady Gaga estrenará su ‘The fame monster’. A partir de esta semana entonces podremos escuchar íntegramente el nuevo trabajo de una cantante que no publicaba ningún disco desde 2007. Poco a poco se están desvelando los destalles de Rated R, un disco muy esperado y que confirma un cambio radical en Rihanna, que ha pasado de una chica buena en su tercer álbum, ‘Good Girl Bone Bad’, a mostrar su lado más oscuro. El álbum sale a la venta nueve meses después de que la estrella de 21 años fuese agredida por su ex novio y cantante Chris Brown. Rihanna ha asegurado que grabar la ayudó a apaciguar su dolor. Escuchándolo, no hay duda de que Rated R es un escaparate oscuro e inquietante en el que Rihanna refleja lo que realmente siente. Russian Roulette es su primer sigle, escrita y producida por su amigo Ne-Yo, pero parece que no acaba de convencer. El nuevo álbum de la artista cuenta con las colaboraciones de Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, Kayne West o Will I Am, entre otros. Rihanna ya ha dejado escuchar sus primeros sigles y también está promocionando el clip del tema Wait your turn, rodado en Los Ángeles al más puro estilo ‘Max Mad’. Pero lo mejor de Rated R es que Rihanna aún guarda sus mejores armas para asaltar todas las listas de ventas. Os dejo algunos temas que prometen sonar en todas las emisoras durante los próximos meses, además del making off fotográfico de Rated R.

No hay duda de que el incidente con Chris Brown parece haber dejado huella en la joven artista. 

If you haven’t heard of superstar DJ Jaguar Skills yet, chances are he’s already heard of you and he’s standing silently behind you as you read this, katana ready to strike. Not only is this guys a DJ, he’s also a self-proclaimed ninja, never taking his mask off at live shows and never giving interviews. Mysterious.

Anyway, the guy is a rising legend in the UK, known for his huge mixtapes and wicked sense of humour. Back in the summer he performed a live two hour video game mixtape for the BBC that is a crazy mash-up of classic video game music and the best that dance, rock and hip hop has to offer. In a word – ‘Brilliant!’

Out of the two hour set, expect to hear musical cameos from Alex Kidd, Mortal Kombat, Mario Bros, Street Fighter II, Parappa the Rapper, Rally X, complete with radio skits from the Grand Theft Auto series, a guitar hero tribute section and 8-bit remixes of hit rap songs from Jay-Z, Ludacris and Kanye West.

Admittedly, this is old news for gamers in the UK, but as I was listening to this while writing my Assassin’s Creed II review (check back on Friday for the full review!) I though I’d share it with gamers coming to this blog from outside the country.

1. Flipping around with the remote only to find commercials and extreme volume variance.  Thank god for the mute.  I mute all commercials after I’ve heard them once.
2. The Democrats calling 1 Republican vote evidence of bipartisan support for health care reform.  The Dems don’t even have partisan support.  And the Blue Dogs – tell me, how can they even call themselves Democrats?  They seem to have more in common with the Republicans.
3. Folks on the subway with bad musical taste who unwittingly or perhaps intentionally share, or I should say blare bad music through crap non-noise canceling headphones.  And there are those with no headphones at all who broadcast fully distorted favorites on cheap cell phone speakers to captive riders.
4. A dumb smart phone.  Mine has virtually no signal strength on the subway lines.  Not only can I not make a call, I can’t read the news, check e-mail or FB – nothing.  So I’m back to lugging a book with me on my morning commute, and frankly I don’t miss the news one bit.
5. Mike happy T conductors trying to sound like flight attendants or DJs.   Come on, the stops are all prerecorded, just open and close the doors already and let’s get going.   Makes me think of REM’s “Driver 8“:  And the train conductor says “driver 8, take a break, driver 8 take a break, we can reach our destination, but we’re still aways away.”
6. A hot toasted bagel served with tubs of cold butter on the side.  Dunkin Donuts is guilty of this crime.  I guess that’s why they’re called Dunkin Donuts and not Dunkin Bagels.  What’s worse, they waste so much plastic, serving a knife and a handful of tiny plastic tubs of butter per customer.   It would actually take the worker less time to slap on some butter than it does for them to pack the butter and plastic knife.  Notwithstanding the waste, it’s next to impossible to peel the covers off those tiny tubs.
7. Artist sampling the classics.  I think it’s a bit of a Royal Scam, if the sample is not credited or authorized.  Speaking of the lp by the same name, Kayne West sampled a riff from Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne” in his song “Champion“.  Is it a rip-off, or a tribute?  I can’t say I’m annoyed at the reference in this contemporary song, but I wonder how Walter Becker and Donald Fagen feel about it?

Sujet du jour : le Boloss ME.

La première question qui se pose est : qu’est-ce? Mais qu’est-ce que c’est que ça, avec un nom laid et anglicisé à mort? C’est d’une simplicité effarante. Boloss ME, ou la tendance qui tend à te faire assumer tes goûts (anciennement) de chiottes, à savoir ton attirance pour le gros rap US avec le bling-bling, les nénettes qui nettoient les voitures en mini short et en soutif’ plus que réduit, et toussa-toussa.

Ok, tout cela est bien joli. Mais pourquoi? Le Boloss ME émerge parce qu’on a fini par se rendre compte que tous les tubes – ou presque – des gros rappeurs US sont bons quand un DJ les a remixés à la sauce electro ou hip-hop. Donc l’action logique qui suit une écoute positive d’un remix est bien évidemment d’aller voir la piste originale. Et bien souvent, on aime ça. Mais personne ne peut vraiment garder ses goûts de chiottes secrets longtemps, ils finissent par sortir, comme tout bon secret qui se respecte. Et ça filtre. Et encore. Et encore, encore, encore, et toussa-toussa une fois de plus.

Au début, c’est l’affiche, mais en fait non, puisque pleins d’autres personnes hype, selects et branchées sont comme vous et commencent à croire que vous assumez réellement cet intérêt pour le gros rap US (de sa mère en slip de guerre). Conséquemment (bien placé hein ), ces gens hypes font leur coming out, tout comme vous. Et puis le mouvement Boloss ME est lancé, et maintenant, il n’y a plus qu’à le suivre, comme les bons moutons obéissants que nous sommes!

Est Boloss ME : évidemment, Fifty. Fifty, grand chef du mouvement, avec ses clips comme la Candy Shop où les nanas sont habillées juste ce qu’il faut pour qu’on voit tout sans rien montrer, et où on voit Fifty dans toute son ampleur de rappeur (habillé Xtra size, les diam’s aux oreilles, la grosse chaine…). Fifty, donc, grand meneur. Mais, tout de même, coursé de près par Akon avec des chansons comme Locked Up où on le voit en tenue basique. Du bon gros Boloss Me, Akon fait une digne concurrence à Fifty, malgré un style tout de même assez différent. Vous avez la base, je suis sûr que vous pouvez trouver encore pas mal d’artistes qui rentrent dans cette catégorie.

On a aussi une petite inclassable – que j’aime beaucoup! – qui se balade dans cette haute sphère de la hype (si si, j’insiste !) : j’ai nommé Rihanna. La demoiselle est bien Boloss ME musicalement parlant (vous aurez vos influences US à mort, bien Boloss ME) – et ça se confirme bien grâce à son duo avec Jay-Z – mais elle verse énormément dans la hype, la mode et compagnie. Boloss ME donc, mais hype aussi. Conclusion logique, on écoute le prochain album de Rihanna (propagande!).

A retenir : Mouvement en grande expansion (si si, on y croit! A voir ce groupe) qui va vous réconcilier avec vos goûts de chiottes US (sauf avec Miley Cirus). A suivre sans modération, donc.

• Le Boloss ME s’étend aussi aux groupes bien kitch/nuls/à chier!/à oublier (rayer la/les mention(s) inutile(s)) que vous aimez, comme ATC par exemple (Cass-dédi Carlota!), Shakira (dédicasse moi même) ou encore KiD CuDi (lui étant limite tellement il est bon!).

The secret behind Kayne and Taylor Swift

Similar to Eminem was in on the whole Sacha Baron Cohen butt-in-the-face mess stunt and Balloon Boy flying across America. It’s been rumor since Kanye West snatch the mic from Taylor Swift, that it was a Hoax .

According to the source the exchange was arranged at Jay-Z request. MTV execs reportedly asked Hov to perform at the VMA’s and he said only if his lady, Beyonce, was made to look  good in the viewers eyes and was given a performance of her own.

A Jay-Z staffer stated:

This was all a huge publicity stunt set up by Jay-Z. MTV wanted him to perform at the end of the show and he said on one condition – they gave Beyonce a performance and made her look good. And so, the whole Taylor Swift fiasco was born. Jay called up Kanye and asked him to do it for him because Kanye doesn’t mind being seen as a jackass and it’d be believable if he did it. So when Beyonce let Taylor finish her speech instead of making her own speech, everyone thought “Wow, Beyonce really is a class act!” and Jay-Z finished off the show with his performance.

It’s old hat by now, but we’ve did our research and discovery some really fishy mess.

And what a coincidence that both Kanye West and Taylor Swift share the same talent agent, hmmmmm.

WHO IS THIS NEW FACE TO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

GWI- First off, Get Wit It coterie would like to thank you for
taking time out to let us get to know you a little better.
First we have to ask, P90x, what is this diet all about? You
seem to look fairly well nutritioned to us, lol, especially the
ladies.

Chris Mann- ha–well P90X is a DVD fitness system that’s like having a personal
trainer at home. i had a trainer when i was making my album last year
in LA; however, as soon as i went on the road it all went to shit and
all that hard work was lost. doesn’t it suck how months of work can
be erased in a matter of weeks! so i got p90x cause i can do it on
the road. thanks for thinking i’m in shape. *tear*

GWI- So how does a Professional Opera singer living in Italy end
up in Nashville ?

Chris Mann- I started off in Nashville singing opera at Vanderbilt. i was given
an opportunity to sing in Italy after Nashville. of course, i took
it. it was life changing for me. i love classical music very much
but it didn’t really light my fire, so to speak. i came back from
Italy and returned to Nashville so i could learn to write my own
songs. from there i pounded the pavement in Nashville then moved to
NY where i got my record deal. then i moved to LA to make my record.
i still warm up by singing classically every day. someday I’ll make a
classical record, I think.

GWI- Your tattoo…”I sing and I live”…. What’s the story behind that?

Chris Mann- I have 3 tattoos. 1 on my back and 2 on my arm. the one on my back
and on my biceps are in Coptic and are like a motivational road map for
me. my back says “Dreams, Determination, Success and Faith” and my
arm says “without limits”. i love them–this business is so hard.
well, scratch that–LIFE is hard and its easy to get shoe boxed as one
thing or another. “without limits” reminds me i can go as far as i
choose in life. My arm says ”canto e vivo” in Italian. it’s that bit
of Tuscany i brought home with me! I swear i was Italian in a former
life. this saying reminds me why i sing. because i feel better
singing than any other time. will i get more tattoos? probably, but
i have to be really moved by something to make that happen. I’m done
with them for right now.

GWI- What about fame? That all important celebrity status that so
many wannabes crave How does someone with real talent and training
feel about fame?

Chris Mann- I don’t really feel I’m famous.I still get completely floored and
humbled when fans write me facebook messages (facebook.com/
iamchrismann and facebook.com/chrismannmusic) and tell me they are
listening to my music.I love talking to fans and their support
means so much to me, it is kind of annoying to see random reality
stars shooting to the top of celebrity for the wrong reasons but, hey,
everyone is working hard for what they have. I don’t believe in over
night success so I tip my hats to everyone hustling to make it happen
for themselves.

GWI- Who are your musical influences?

Chris Mann- So many random people. Sinatra, India Arie, David Gray, Tony Bennett,
Brian McKnight–to name a few.

GWI- Are you a Michael Jackson fan, and, if so, what is your
favorite song of his?

Chris Mann- Huge MJ fan. I was so crushed when i heard the news. I was invited to
see his tour’s rehearsal at The Staples Center in LA. I was so
freakin’ excited! my favorite song might be Smooth Criminal.

GWI- How did the death of the amazing POP star leave
on you?

Chris Mann- It showed me how insanely talented he was and was really eye opening
about how the standards of music are going down down down. MJ brought
the heat in a major way.I think we were all inspired by the impact
he left on this planet. i can only hope to impact a fraction of the
people he did in my career.

GWI-How do you describe your music to people?

Chris Mann- Its so hard for me to describe it! lame, I know. I usually say its
soulful pop with big melodies….and its life changing and you should
definitely get my EP and tell everyone you’ve ever met. yep. that’s
what i say.

GWI- How did you sell your CD’s/Audio Files?

of my own music in Nashville, NY and LA. last year i was lucky to
tour with Warner Bros. recording artist, Idina Menzel, and this year i
toured with my idol, India.Arie. it was a dream come true.

GWI- Have you any upcoming shows?

GWI- Who is someone you want to work with at the moment and why?

GWI- Are you at all experimenting with music, in terms of bringing
something different to the music lovers, if so how?

Chris Mann- My new music pushes way more boundaries than before. i can’t wait to
get it out there. I’ll start playing the new stuff live and then the
album will come out next year. its pop baby! I’m not afraid to say
it, either! its still beautiful but its gonna make your ass shake a
little more than my previous projects.There’s not another guy out
there doing it the way I’m about to. Really excited.

GWI- So what is in the immediate future what can we continue to
expect from Chris MANN

Chris Mann- Expect a record! lets start there. I’m excited to get new stuff out
there for the fans. I’m also dabbing into acting on TV so there might
be some action there. I have some things up my sleeve. hehe. my new

GWI- How would you define the word “success”?

Chris Mann- not giving up.

GWI- Do you ever feel overwhelmed? If so, how do you stay focused?

Chris Man- um, i feel overwhelmed ever day.I stay focused by chipping away at
something every day. You can’t move a mountain in one day but little
by little you can get r dun!

GWI- What is your biggest lesson in life that you can share with
your fans?
Chris Mann- Don’t ever give up. ever. ever. no is not an option no matter what

I think that it would only be appreciate if I start this blog off with a bang! My first entry will be about the ever lovable, Mr. Kayne West. Now, don’t get me wrong, in my opinion Kayne is very talented, and is lyrically gifted. You can tell this by watching how he has progress from his first album The College Dropout up to his latest record 808’s and Heartbreak. However, if you haven’t heard already he’s kind of an asshole, to put it lightly. His latest charade took place at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. If you haven’t already seen what happened I have posted that video above for your entertainment. Words really cannot explain his behavior and there is no reasonable excuse for the way he blatantly humiliated Taylor Swift. (Thank you to Beyoncé for cleaning it up) I’m not the biggest country music fan but, that was just over kill. Which is why I have titled this page “HOW!!!” HOW could you really think that was okay to do? HOW did you even get alcohol (a bottle of Hennessy to be exact) inside the building? HOW do you keep getting invited to award shows? HOW do you think your mother would react to your behavior? (RIP Ms. West) HOW do you keep getting on stage? HOW, HOW, HOW!!! Please, somebody help me understand.

Say what you might about artist doing covers and how it’s impossible improve on the original song. Occasionally a cover destroy an amazing song. It isn’t the case with The Fray.

The cover that has caught my attention is their  take on Kayne West’s Heartless. It’s an acoustic version and deserves a listen, I personally think it’s amazing.

So iv just ordered my copy of Glow in the dark by Kayne west cant wait for the delivery woo hooo I love deliverys I feel like someone out there is really spoiling me loool. Anyone already read it?

Spike Jonze did a short film and it stars Kayne West, I think its pretty good, Kayne as an actor is another thing but how its shot and the story is perfect. A nice Koston Kameo and Mike Carroll is here too, also a bit of Mayer Hawthorne is playing. Spike is the man!

The eighth studio album from Ghostface Killah just hit the shelves this week to mass hysteria among diehard fans. This is an R&B-inspired album in the same note as his previous collaborations with Ne-Yo and Jodeci. Transparency is the great strength of the artist coupled with attention to the narrative. He spits his rhymes with a steady flow and nothing has changed on Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry. What is different is the force of nature has switched from the coke trade to matters of the heart.

One of the album’s highlights is the track Lonely, a sorrowful tale of jealously and heartache as another man moves in with his ex-wife, possession and obsession are the themes that are played out and with the Lyfe Jennings background superbly complementing the angst of the situation, it shows the range and skill of Ghostface. The guests appear thick and fast, from the first single Baby which features Raheem “Radio” DeVaughan on the slowly mixed track with auto-tune vocals. John Legend provides the swoon to Let’s Stop Playing while the hombres Kayne West and Ne-Yo provide seamless hip hop on Back Like That, a ditty that is old stock but sure to keep the fans satisfied.

Ghostface turns on the afterburners with Stapleton Sex and the details of the lovin that is going on will make even the manliest man see red. The horns are introduced on the dynamic duo of tracks Paragraphs of Love feat. Estelle, playing out the drama to full effect, and Guest House expounds the most adventurous yarn of the album with paranoia raining supreme throughout.,/p>

Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry is none the less a masterstroke in the catalogue of a truly distinguished performer at the peak of his powers. This is what modern urban music should aspire too, the ability to narrate tales and converse on themes as the ones that is studied throughout this album is an ensign to the R&B community. The beats are symmetric with the emotional value portrayed in the lyrics. Nowadays this is too often not central to most R&B releases. This ambitious journey could have been a disaster but it is a triumphant from start to finish.
