De meest recente editie van de Werktuigendagen voor land- en tuinbouw gingen door op 26 & 27 september 2009.
Luchtballons trokken al de aandacht van menig bezoeker zelfs voordat hij het terrein betrad.

Naast vele professionele exposanten was er ook ruimte voor oldtimers.

Een ‘Minerva’ terreinwagen, hetzelfde voertuig was ook aanwezig op de ‘Wings And Wheels’ 2009 te Ursel.

Deze oldtimers ondernamen ook een parade op het terrein.

Een nieuwigheid in deze editie was het dorspark met een oldtimer statische dorsmachine.
De schoven worden bovenaan in de dorsmachine geladen.

Het stro wordt tot balen geperst.

De volledige machine wordt aangedreven door een oldtimer tractor via het vliegwiel en een lange aandrijfband.

Bij de oudere bezoeker zal dit tafereel zeker herinneringen oproepen.

Het grootste deel van het terrein aan de Axewalle was echter voorbehouden voor modern materieel.

Sommige bezoekers werden met paard en wagen rondgevoerd.

Er waren ook wedstrijden met vee.

Boven in de lucht was een klein deeltje van de omvangrijke veiligheidsorganisatie zichtbaar, de RAGO van de Federale politie.

A convention with no controversy is boring.

This year I attended Tuesday only.  I had obligations on Monday that kept me away from the pastor’s conference, which I’m sure I would have enjoyed.  There was really only one major piece of business this year; amending and restructuring of the constitution.  Most of the changes were for streamlining purposes and it was not controversial.  For example, we renamed the annual session the annual “meeting.” (Exciting huh?) The election of officers was completely uneventful.  Only one ballot was even necessary (CJ Bordeaux was elected as second VP), as President and first VP were unopposed.  (In slightly related news, my great-uncle, Don Mathis, was elected as president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.)  Even the budget, which involved substantial cuts, only had a few comments from the floor.

Compare this to last year, when we were doing away with giving plans, or to ’07 when we were defunding the colleges as they began electing their own trustees.  Those years had a different feel to them.  In a year like this when everything is routine, we are simply going about our business controversy free.

I almost titled this post Baptists like to Argue.  At a business meeting where everything is cut and dried you begin to hear people say things like “this thing was railroaded,” or “they are just going to elect who they want.”  It’s weird; it’s almost as if we are creating controversy where there is none.  In this case I know that is it.  We in NC are too recently past the major controversies to be organized.  It ought to be a reason for celebration.  Hooray, we are controversy-free! But instead it’s boring.

I must confess, I am as guilty of this as anyone else.  I think the controversy is interesting.  I bet that next year’s SBC is the best-attended in a while.  Not just because it’s in Orlando and we can sneak out to Sea World (not Disney though ), but because of the controversy that seems to be swirling around the GCR Task Force.

That’s my two cents.  I’m glad we are not fighting, but it’s not nearly as interesting as the controversy.  Maybe next year I’ll make a motion for some controversy.  I already have one in mind.

Thanks to the Safaricom offer I have been able to indulge in my love for kwaito. I absolutely love it. I fell in love when I was younger when KTN was the only other option to KBC and they brought a lot of channel O to fill in the time. That was where I first was dazzled by Lebo Mathosa who was an icon to me. It was so sad when she passed away before her time. Of course the wildly successful TKZee and Zola among others.Tkzee learnt the Kenyanized version of their song I think it’s meant to say Sesho Ingolova- but the kenyans turned it into show me your ngotha(translated to mean show me your underwear ) I trust you will enjoy the little selection I have for you.

Over the years Media house in Kenya have felt there’s a need to re-launch their products… to make them better? Appeal to new consumers?? Or just to show us how uncreative they are….we start with the oldest paper in East Africa.

The Standard wana jokes! That upside down thing for the sports pages still makes me mad – although I rarely read sports EVER! I’d rather watch bread rise in the oven…anyways last year they did their most dramatic change ever, even a new tagline ‘For fairness and justice’ or something like that…the layout is clearly meant for civil servants cause I don’t have time to figure out where what is…

Nation took the conservative route…changed the colors added a few articles but the layout works for me

Need I say more? But I got mad love for KTN their programming is SUPERIOR!

Now who sat and thought the colors to the gay parade would fit in a once mainstream TV station?? Worse! They messed up the programming nkt!

Kiss Fm has re-launched at least 6 times in the 9 years they have been in the industry and very time they do,  they add at least 2 songs to their playlist muhahahaha anywaaaay they do make some notable changes like their station ID and killing shows that actually rocked ‘People’s Parliament’ ‘Cross fire’ ‘Keeping it Kenyan with the Homoboyz’ ‘8-10′ the list can go on.

Easy FM was Nation FM and when they changed they were sooo similar to Kiss it wasnt funny…but now they’re number one for blues and R&B – so they say.

HOT 96 FAIL! If only they kept Y Fm…they would be soo successful it wouldn’t be funny…. but Jimmy Gathu walked into RMS with a mission to get back at his former bosses and messed up a station that was growing, slowly but it was growing.

Worse they’ve re-lauched again!! Into a station that plays that shitty music HIPHOP

After 13 years of perfectly fine and very entertaining jingles, someone at Capital held off a fart and it went to his/her brain and after that came ‘The bolder provocative’ Capiro every time I hear that I expect to hear ‘Coming to a newsstand’ near you – the tagline doesn’t fit radio at all!

And the only re-launch I actually feel had an impact a HUGE one on the market was Citizen TVs’

Oktober is steevast de maand waarin sparen centraal staat bij KBC.  En dat is in 2009 niet anders, want  in de huidige marktomstandigheden is het verstandiger om op een andere, slimmere manier te sparen.  Een spaarboekje brengt weinig op, maar er zijn voldoende meer rendabele alternatieven.

En daar wil KBC altijd eens over praten met haar klanten.

Sparen in de spaarmaand levert sowieso meer op, al was het maar het cliëntenboek ‘Toeren en tafelen in Schotland’ en de kans op toffe prijzen in de KBC-Spaartombola.
En dat het thema Schotland zou zijn, dat moesten ze ons maar 1 keer zeggen om geïnspireerd te geraken.

Sinds midden 2008 schrapten KBC, Dexia en het vroegere Fortis Bank samen al 6.200 banen, waarvan ruim een derde, of ongeveer 2.300 banen, in België. Bij ING verdwenen er zelfs 20.000. Enkel bij ING België steeg het aantal jobs lichtjes, maar dat is tijdelijk.
Eén jaar na de bankencrisis blijkt dat de grootbanken hun personeelsbeleid in België scherp hebben bijgestuurd. Met uitzondering van ING België hebben ze eind vorig jaar een algemene aanwervingsstop ingelast, zodat er in de eerste jaarhelft alleen nog voor gespecialiseerde jobs nieuw bloed werd gezocht.

Alleen al bij de drie Belgische grootbanken (KBC, Dexia en de vroegere Fortis Bank) verdwenen er sinds midden 2008 ongeveer 2.300 banen. Enkel bij ING België steeg het personeelsbestand lichtjes (+57 jobs). De 315 banen die ING België dit jaar wil schrappen, zijn nog niet in de cijfers opgenomen. Dat is pas voorzien voor eind 2009.

Bij KBC (-3.200 jobs) en het vroegere Fortis Bank (-2.150 jobs) ligt het banenverlies bij de buitenlandse dochters dubbel zo hoog als in eigen land. Enkel Dexia (-907 jobs wereldwijd, -678 in België) vormt daarop voorlopig een uitzondering. En dat is nog maar een begin, aldus De Standaard. De echte, diepgaande herstructureringen bij de grootbanken zullen pas eind dit jaar bekend zijn.
