Heitin tusina-nappikuulokkeeni nurkkaan ja aloitin etsimään uusia kestävämpiä ja laadukkaampia niiden tilalle. Entisistä kuulokkeistani oli vain riesaa. Napit tippuivat korvista lenkillä ja jopa kävellessä. Jostain teknisestä, minulle aukeamattomasta, syystä myös ääni kuului kovin hiljaa, vaikka mp3-soittimessani oli “nupit kaakossa”.

Halusin siis uudet sujuvasti mukana säilyvät ja äänenlaadultaan hyvät kuulokkeet. Etsin nettikaupoissa hieman ja sieltä löytyikin hinnaltaan suhteellisen edullisia vaihtoehtoja. Halvimmat tuotteet liikkuivat hintaluokissa 7-15 e. En kuitenkaan löytänyt mitään kovin vakuuttavaa. Lisäksi postikulut olisivat nostaneet kustannuksia eikä huvittanut lähteä hakemaan liian pitkien matkojen päähän johonkin tälle alalle erikoistuneeseen liikkeeseen. Suuntasin siis lähimpään isompaan markettiin vertailemaan tuotteita.

Ensin silmään pistäneet kuulokkeet olivat halpoja, mutta hetken päästä huomioni kiinnitti KOSS:n valikoima kaupassa. Kyseisen valmistajan Porta PRO -kuulokkeet ovat niittäneet mainetta ja voittaneet joitakin testejäkin. Feidasin kuitenkin ne koska halusin nimenomaan nappikuulokkeet. Hyllyltä löytyi sitten kaksi mallia, joista valitsin KEB/24b:n.

Yllätyin positiivisesti – tuotteella on viiden vuoden takuu! Ei muu auttanut kuin kopioida saamani kuitti jota myyjä väitti takuutodistukseksi. Paketissa luki, että taajuusvaste on välillä 15 ja ylöspäin aina kuulokynnyksen yläpäähän asti. Johdon pituus on 1,2 m ja se on varustettu 3,5 mm mini-plugilla. Napit uppoavat kiinni korviin ja sulkevat tehokkaasti ulkopuolelta kuuluvia ääniä. Nyt myös musiikki kuuluu kovemmalla kuin toisissa käytöstä poistamisen. Pakettiin kuuluu myös vaihto-tulpat napeille. Hintaa kannattaa vertailla. Itse maksoin 25 e.

Ich erzählte auch den Kindern, wie es für mich möglich wurde, über diese Brücke zu gehen.

Danach hatten wir noch einen kleinen Brückenbauwettbewerb mit Papier, Tixo und Büroklammern. Es war gar nicht so leicht für die Jury, bei den Kunstwerken, die die Kinder herstellten.

Korea Exchange Bank’s Visa Signature Cards come with three different rewarding options: Yes Point, Korean Air SKYPASS, Asiana Airlines Asiana Club. Yes Point Signature Card gives back 10 Yes Points for KRW 1,000 spent. One Yes Point worths KRW 1, and the points can be redeemed in the form of cash once 10,000 Yes Points are accrued. With SKYPASS Signature Card one can earn for every KRW 1,500 spent; 3 miles for international purchase, 2 miles at duty free shops, 1 mile elsewhere. Tänkte ladda upp lite bilder från Kebnekaiseresan i juli. Robin & jag åkte tåg + buss till Nikka och gick till fjällstationen (alternativen är båtresa och helikopter), var där i 2 dagar, gick hem på 2 dagar och tältade i Kiruna en natt. Det var otroligt fint och jag saknar det. Vill så gärna upp till fjällen snart igen, men jag får nog vänta till nästa sommar eftersom Rifa är för liten.

Resan var helt fan-fuckin-tastic. Saknar det väldigt mycket. Det var som att komma tillbaks till något man tappat bort och just hittat igen. Min passion är nog mer att vandra än att klättra uppför, vilket är vad Robin gör. Han klättrar. Nå, jag älskar honom ändå, även om det är som han skrev i vintras, att den som väljer att leva med honom kommer få finna sig i lite oro och risken att han fryser fast på nåt berg nånstans. Än så länge är han ju kvar hos mig och inte ett välbevarat lik på någon bergssida. ♥

I just have to say I don’t like the place.. I’ve been there 4 or 5 times, yesterday being one. The party yesterday, one that I usually recommend here (not anymore) had everything to be great: a live band playing pop samba, which is the type of samba you dance to. Anyway, probably because today is a holiday, there was a huge queue and the thing I hate the most, people jumping the queue. Anyway, when I got in (around midnight) I went to the second floor. At the dancefloor: hiphop music. And more hiphop. And more hiphop. And more hiphop. Until 2am, the band hadn’t start to play. So I decided to go home, but first I went for a sandwich at Keb (recommend!! stays open til late). Why do they start playing at 2am? That’s reaaally late! So anyway.. For those still interested in going that happens every Wednesday at Melt!

Am vergangenen Wochenende durfte ich während einer Gemeindefreizeit das Programm für die 9 bis 14jährigen gestalten. Irgendwie ist das Thema “Alles oder nichts?” etwas, das mich nicht loslässt. Auch diesmal habe ich die Lebensgeschichte von Graf Zinzendorf erzählt und wir haben uns in der Bibel den Aufruf Jesu zu radikaler Nachfolge angeschaut. Und ich glaube auch, dass auch wir Christen das immer wieder brauchen.
Außerdem haben wir gemeinsam erarbeitet, worum es im Evangelium geht. Um von Jesus weiter sagen zu können, müssen wir wissen, was wir glauben! Oft fehlen einem die Worte, weil man gar nicht genau weiß, was man erklären soll.

Die Frage, “willst du 100 % für Jesu leben?” wurde von ihnen hoffentlich mit “Ja” beantwortet. Einige erzählten auch davon, wie sie mit ihren Freunden und Schulkollegen über ihren Herrn und Retter Jesus Christus reden konnten. Halleluja!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to conduct the program for the 9 to 14 years old at a church retreat. Somehow the theme “all or nothing?” sticks with me. Also this time I told them about the life of Lord Zinzendorf and we looked how the Lord Jesus calls to follow Him radically. I believe we as Christians also need this call time and again.

Also we worked on what the Gospel is all about. We need to know what we believe if we want to tell others about Jesus! Often we don’t have the words, because we don’t excactly know what we want to explain.

Hopefully the answered the question “do you want to live for Jesus 100 %?” with “yes”. Some of the kids told about talks they had with friends and school mates where they could talk about their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Halleluja!

Wir sind gespannt, was uns nächstes Wochenende erwaret! I’m lovin’ it . Ich freu mich drauf. Wir werden wieder ein Kinderprogramm haben bei einer Freizeit.

Fasziniert von den Denkspielen! “Ich habs gleich!” – beim APC haben die Teens und Jugendlichen viel geknobelt und dabei so manches Kinder-Schokobon abgesahnt.

Fascinated by the thinking games! “I’m about to make it!” – at the Austrian Prayer Congress the teenagers and youth riddled a lot and got a lot of sweets.

Beim Schladminger Jugendtag durfte ich mit einem Stand die Arbeit der KEB repräsentieren und auch im speziellen auf teens!aktiv hinweisen.

Sehr wertvoll war es für mich, in Kontakt zu sein mit den Leuten anderer Missionswerke, die das gleiche Anliegen haben, Menschen für Jesus zu gewinnen. z.B. Bibellesebund, Neues Leben

Außerdem durfte ich in der letzten Veranstaltung kurz darüber reden, was Gott mit meinem Leben zutun hat.

At the youthday in Schladming I could present the work of CEF with a stand and also especially point to our youth!challenge ministry.

It was very good to be in contact with workers from other missions, who have the same desire, to reach people for Christ.

In addition I was asked to talk about my life with God in the last meeting.

Today, the exchange rate for the Korean Won took one of the largest drops it’s had in over a month, bringing it from about 1356 Won down to 1278.25 (to $1 US). This also marks the lowest the exchange rate has been in almost 4 months (it was lower in early January, but only for a day or two). And the April monthly average for the Korean Won is the lowest it’s been since October of last year (2008). 

This is great news for expats who need to transfer money to our home countries, as it means we’ll lose less of our money in the exchange. However, due to the ever-fluctuating world economies, it also means that we can’t depend on this kind of exchange rate to last (the Won was up to nearly 1600W per dollar in March). Therefore, it is important to be able to quickly and easily transfer money on one of these “low-exchange-rate” days.

Enter the Korea Exchange Bank (KEB)’s “easy-one 외화송금전용통장” or “easy-one Foreign Currency Remittance Service.“

The Problem

When most foreign English teachers come to Korea for the first time, they get everything provided for them by their sponsoring school. Things like a house, phone, Internet, TV, furniture, and bank account are provided to teachers within a few weeks of their arrival.

However, the bank accounts that most schools set up aren’t necessarily targeted toward foreigners who need to send money home. Therefore, money transfers can end up being a big pain as expats often have to go to the bank, wait in line, and fill out papers each time they need to make a transfer (at least in my case I had to go to the biggest bank branch downtown, and fill out and sign papers each time). They have to do all this without speaking much Korean, so it is often better to get a Korean friend to help them out.

But why get a Korean friend to help transfer money each time you need some sent home? Why not just get some help to set up an “easy-one” account at the KEB? It’s a one-time deal, and the money is automatically sent home when it’s transferred into the KEB account.

A Better Way to Transfer

KEB (Korea Exchange Bank) is a specialized foreign exchange bank, is the 5th largest bank in South Korea (assets), and is Korea’s largest foreign exchange bank. It has been the longest running exchange bank in Korea, and currently provides more than 37 currencies for foreign exchange (Wikipedia). You can tell that KEB is foreigner friendly just by looking at the bank book they give you after you open an account. There are 10 languages on the front cover!

The best thing about this account, is that once it’s set up, all I have to do is transfer money in to this bank account, and KEB automatically transfers the money to the bank in America it has on record for me. I get a text message to my phone about 5 minutes after I transfer money telling me something to the effect of “KEB has transfered XXX Won equaling XXX Dollars to your bank in America.” So, it is not only instant, but it also tells me the exact amount of money (in my home currency) I have transferred. Talk about slick! -> That’s so much better than talking to a service rep and filling out paperwork every time I need to transfer money.

How to hook yourself up with an “Easy-One”

1. Locate the KEB

First of all, you’ll need to locate the KEB bank in your city (assuming there is one). Ask other foreigners in town if they know where the local branch is. In Jeonju, it is downtown (Gaeksa) just across the street from StarBucks (near the old KFC and Dunkin Donuts). Check out the Jeonju Map here to find StarBucks.

2. Investigate KEB’s services

You might want to familiarize yourself with some of the benefits of opening an account at KEB. Check out their “easy-one Foreign Currency Remittance Service” (and other Remittance Services) here. The bank homepage is here, if you want to check out any other interesting things KEB might have. The beautiful part about these sites is that they are completely in English (and good English at that) -> English Internet banking too. You might also want to go to the bank and physically check things out, I’ll leave that up to you.

3. Prepare your materials

In order to apply for an account at the KEB bank, you’ll need to gather the following materials and information:

1. Your Foreigner Registration Card
2. Your passport
3. (Know) your address and phone number in Korea
4. Transferring bank information (in your home country). This includes:
5. –> Bank Account #
6. –> Routing # and SWIFT Code (or BIC Code)
7. –> Address of your bank in your home country
8. –> Receiver’s name

This should be all you need (unless I forgot something), but in any case, it will get you started. You’ll have to check at the bank branch to see if there are any other necessary materials.

4. Recruit the help of a Korean friend

This step is not completely necessary as many Koreans speak passable English (especially those at an exchange bank). However, it is always nice to have “back-up” for help with the language and a little extra peace of mind.

5. Apply at KEB

Head on down to the KEB bank and apply for your new account. The account you want is the “easy-one 외화송금전용통장” or “easy-one Foreign Currency Remittance Service.” After you request that account, they should bring out the paperwork for you to fill out. When you’re done with that, they’ll probably take your passport and Foreigner Registration Card to make a photocopy, then do some work on the computer, and set you up.

6. Don’t forget to keep your old account too

You’ll definitely want to keep your first bank account that your school set up for you as well. The school will still transfer money to that account for your paycheck, and you can transfer money from it into your new KEB account. And since the KEB account will automatically transfer your money to your home country, you wouldn’t want your whole paycheck to get dumped in there before you have a chance to take out what you want.

7. ONLY use the new account to transfer money home

Korea only wants you to use ONE bank to transfer money home. So, if you used a different bank to transfer money first, KEB will call that bank and change your transfer information (and legal stuff) over to their bank when you set up your account. From that point on, you won’t be able to (easily) transfer money from the first bank again, as KEB should be the only bank you use to transfer. Although I’m sure that you could change your “transferring” bank back to the original, why would you want to?

KEB’s “easy-one” service is so simple, you can literally go to any ATM in town at a moment’s notice and transfer money from your first bank account into the KEB account and have it instantly sent home.

8. Make your first transfer

Immediately after setting up my KEB account, I walked over to my original bank and made a transfer to the KEB account. (Although it is possible to transfer funds from any ATM, I wanted to save a possible ATM fee – using a different card – and my bank was close anyway).

After my transfer, I turned, opened the door, stepped outside, and received a text message on my phone that told me the exact amount of US dollars I’d just sent home. Nice!

Any other bank advice?

What about you? Do you have any other bank advice in Korea? I’ve found that while I get paid at my first bank account, it doesn’t get any interest. Therefore, I went and opened another account (for receiving interest) at Honam Solomon Bank. Therefore, I now have 3 accounts -> one to receive my paycheck, one to “pay” myself with (and receive interest), and one to transfer money home with (KEB).

Seit Sonntag sind Elke und ich beim Leiterkurs für teens!aktiv. Wir haben eine wirklich schöne Zeit mit guten Lehrern und netten Klassenkollegen. Ist schon spannend. Manche Studenten waren im letzten Jahr beim Leiterkurs der KEB meine Lehrer.

Elke and me are attending the leader training for youth!challenge since Sonday . We’re really enjoying the time with good teachers and nice class mates. It is interesting. Some fellow students were my teachers in my CEF leader training 2007.

Heute war es besonders interessant, denn es ging darum, wie man eine Andacht zu einem Bibeltext vorbereitet und um die Kultur der Teenager (instabile Familien, Freunde). Es bleibt sicher weiter spannend.

Today it was really interesting, because it was about how to prepare  a devotional from a bible passage and about the teenager’s culture (instable families, friends). Surely it will stay interesting.

Morgen müssen wir unsre erste Aufgabe abgeben und dann folgen noch 2 praktische Übungen. Und am Schluss gibts ein Zertifikat. Das berechtigt uns dann (hoffentlich), selbst wiederum Jugendleiter zu unterrichten.

Tomorrow we’ll have to hand in our first home assingment and later in the week we’ll have to do two practicals. In the end we’ll get a certificate. So we’ll (hopefully) be allowed to teach then ourselves youth leaders.

Was vielleicht noch interssant ist: mein Wireless geht hier. Das gleiche ging hier nicht vor einem Jahr in den ganzen drei Monaten hier.

What is probably also interesting: my wireless is working. It wasn’t one year ago during the whole three months here.

Unsere Anreise war auch sehr schön. Da wir mit dem Nachtzug unterwegs waren und sehr früh in Zürich angekommen sind, haben wir uns noch in Zürich etwas umgeschaut. Obwohl ich kein Stadtmensch bin, hat es mir sehr gefallen. Geht mal Sonntag früh um 7:00 Uhr nach Zürich, dann wisst ihr warum!! Wir sind am Zürichsee spaziert, haben uns das Großmünster, das Fraumünster und die Sukkulentensammlung (Kakteen usw.) angeschaut. Genossen haben wir auch das Starbucks. Wir haben viel gelacht und ich war echt beschenkt schon allein von der Anreise .

Our journey to Switzerand was very nice too. Because we travelled by night we arrived very early in Zurich. So we sepnd some time there. Athough I am definetly not a town person, I enjoyed it. Go into Zurich on Sunday 7:00 a.m. then you’ll know why!! We walked a little along Lake Zurich, visited tow big Cathedrals and a plant exhibition. We also enjoyed Starbucks. We had a good laught and i really felt blessed just by the journey .

Het jaar 2008 eindigde voor mij met een bizarre, actieve en overvolle avond. Dit maakt de recap op het afgelopen jaar een beetje lastiger dan ik in eerste instantie had willen doen. Hoe was 2008? Ik zeg natuurlijk allereerst thank god that we pulled it off and dat nog met een smile op onze face en beide benen nog vast aan ons lichaam. Een jaar gaat snel en hoe ouder ik word, hoe sneller het lijkt te gaan en ondanks dat ik hier natuurlijk een prachtig, misschien ietwat cliché, overzicht van het afgelopen jaar kan maken, denk ik dat je uiteindelijk blij moet zijn met elk jaar en elke dag als je aan het einde daarvan kan zeggen: “als ik NU zou sterven, dan sterf ik een blije man”.

Zum zweiten Mal durfte ich in der Jungschar in Gmunden – überm Berg – dabei sein. Letztes Mal fürchtete ich den Schnee, aber ich bin gut hin und wieder heim gekommen . Bisher konnte ich nur einmal im Monat dabei sein. Vielleicht wird das nächstes Jahr besser.

Morgen und übermorgen haben wir KEB-Mitarbeitersitzung in Bürmoos.
Ich freue mich schon. Ist einfach schön, alle Mitarbeiter zu treffen und zu hören, was sich tut und wie es den Leuten geht. Und sicher wird auch einiges Organisatorisches zu besprechen sein. Vielleicht hast du ja gerade ein bisschen Zeit zum Beten dafür. Danke.

4 Wochen ist es jetzt her, dass ich das letzte Mal in Österreich war. Es war sicher ein schmerzhafter Verlust für das ganze Land. Heute weinte der Himmel den ganzen Tag vor Freude. Denn ich bin wieder da.
4 weeks ago – a long time – I was the last time in Austria. Surely it was a great loss for the whole country. Today the heavens cried the whole day long because of joy. Why? I am back.

Kinderbibelwoche in Sondheim/Grabfeld: kids bible week in Sondheim/Grabfeld

03. bis 06. November
Jeden Tag kamen etwa 30 Kinder und hörten eine Geschichte vom Dschungeldoktor. Wir redeten über die beste Botschaft der Welt, spielten, kochten, bastelten und für die Großen gab’s einen Filmabend. Eine rundherum feine Sache! Ich habe es auch sehr mit den Mitarbeitern dort genossen. Ganzer Einsatz für das gleiche Ziel.
3rd to 6th of November. Every day there were about 30 kids and listened to storys from the jungle doctor. We talked about the greatest news ever, played, cooked,…and for the older ones we had a video night. All together a wonderful thing! I really enjoyed it to be with the workers. With all they had working for the same goal.

Kindertag in Sondheim/Rhön: Kids’ day in Sondheim/Rhön

15. November
Einen Tag gemeinsam mit 25 Kindern, 4-5 Mitarbeitern, auch mit dem Dschungeldoktor unterwegs. Ich war schon glücklich als ich von 13 anmeldungen hörte. Bis zum Kindertag waren es dann 25! Eine tolle von Gott gegebene Gelegenheit um mit den Kindern über die wichtigste Nachricht der Welt zu reden: Die Rettung und Befreiung durch Jesus Christus!

15th of November
One day, 4-5 Workers, also with the jungle doctor on tour. I had been really happy when I heard about 13 kids registered. Until the kid’s day it increased to 25! A great chance given from God to talk with them about the most important news of the world: the salvation and deliverance through Jesus Christ!

Außerdem gab’s noch einen Jugendgottesdienst, wo ich über “Alles oder nichts” predigte, einen CVJM-Abend bei dem ich die KEB und meine Arbeit ausführlich vorstellen durfte, eine kleine Mitarbeiterschulung und einen Familiengottesdienst zum Abschluss der Kinderbibelwoche. Ich habe die Gemeinschaft mit den CVJM-Leuten sehr genossen, auch im Jugendhauskreis und bei einem Filmabend (Ein Zug nach Manhatten http://www.scm-shop.de/produkt/titel/ein-zug-nach-manhattan/130322/130322/130322.html – seeehr empfehlenswert!)

In addition we had a youth service, where I preached about “all or nothing”, an YMCA-evening, where I could present the work of CEF and my mission field, a small workers training and a family service as final for the kid’s bible week. I really enjoyed the fellowship with the YMCA-people, also in the youth meeting and at a film night (Train to manhatten).

Hallo aus Deutschland!
Ich bin ganz stolz – die meisten Leute hier sagen, ich habe einen österreichischen Slang.
Es ist voll schön mit den Leuten vom CVJM hier zusammen zu sein. Da bin ich immer hin, als ich Christ wurde.
Wir hatten eine Jungschar, eine Kinderbibelwochenbesprechung, Jugendhauskreis und Besprechung für den Jugendgottedienst und eine kleine Fortbildung zusammen. Vor allem letzteres hot ma voj taugt!

Nächste Woche geht es dann rund mit der Kinderbibelwoche (03. bis 06.11.), dem Jugendgottesdienst (08.11.) und dem Familiengottesdienst (09.11.).

Hello from Germany!
I am quite proud because the most people here say I have an austrian slang.
It is really nice to be together with the people from YMCA, where I went in my early years as Christian. We had a Kidsclub, a preparing meeting for the 4-day bible week for kids, a youth bible meeting and a training evening together, which I loved the most!

Next week there is a lot at the time schedule! The bible week for kids (Nov 3rd – 6th), youth service (8th), family service (9th)

Ja, die Klamotten sind eingepackt und für die Blumen wird auch gesorgt. Ein Haufen Material ist gestapelt und ich bin eingedeckt mit Manner-Waffeln und Mozart-Kugeln.
Ab Donnerstag geht es dann schon rund. Mein Auto muss fertig gemacht werden zum Verkaufen und am Abend (23.10. um 19.00 Uhr) ist das Mitarbeitertreffen für den Kintertag in Sondheim/Rhön .

Am Freitag geht es munter weiter mit der Jungschar in Sondheim/Grabfeld (16.00 bis 17.30 Uhr).
Dann darf ich mich am Samstag von 9-12 Uhr mit den Mitarbeitern für die Jungschartage vom CVJM Sondheim/Gbf. zusammen setzen. Wir besprechen dafür und werden uns auch ein bisschen anschauen, wie man eine Geschichte erarbeitet und lebendig erzählt.
Am Abend gestalte ich das CVJM-Treffen. Gerne möchte ich den Leuten dort Gottes Verständnis und Anliegen für die Kinder neu bewusst machen und ich darf die Gelegenheit auch nutzen, um die KEB Österreich vorzustellen und meinen Dienst.
Das Wochenende geht zu Neige mit dem Jugendhauskreis am Sonntag Abend, bei dem wir auch für den Jugendgottesdienst (08.11.) besprechen, bei dem ich predigen werde.

Dann habe ich Zeit zum Vorbereiten und vom 03. bis 06.11 finden dann die Jungschartage statt (jeweils 14.30 bis 17.30 Uhr).

Am 15.11. gibt es einen Kindertag in Sondheim/Rhön – falls sich Kinder einladen lassen.

Ich hoffe, dass sich in der Zeit noch der ein oder andere Termin ergibt, bei dem ich meine Arbeit in Gemeinden oder Hauskreisen o.ä. vorstellen darf.

Zuerst war es mir lange ein großer Berg. Aber ich bin begeistert von meinem Herrn und Retter Jesus Christus, der mir die Freude zur rechten Zeit geschenkt hat!!

Das ist nicht nur die große Chance meines täglichen Lebens. Ich hoffe, ich konnte dazu auch die Teenager und Kinder bei meinen beiden letzten Einsätzen ermutigen. Viele Gemeinden machen einmal im Jahr (wenige auch zwei mal) eine Gemeindefreizeit. Da wird oft die KEB angefragt, ob wir das Programm für die Kinder oder Teens übernehmen können. So kam ich an den vergangenen zwei Wochenenden zum Handkuss. Es waren gute Erfahrungen. Spannend, lehrreich, Augen öffnend und schön.

That’s not only the great chance of my every day life. I hope I also could encourage the teenagers and children on the last two weekends to live 100 per cent for Jesus. Many churches do have one camp a year together (some have two). Often they ask CEF to do the teens’ and children’s programme during this time. So I had two on the last weekends. That were good experiences. Exciting, I learned a lot, it opened my eyes and it was nice.

Beim ersten Einsatz (26. bis 28.09.) hatte ich eine Gruppe von 7 Teenagern. Erst 12, aber schon mitten in der Pubertät! Das konnte ich auch selbst spüren. Grenzentester sag ich da nur dazu .
Das tollste für sie – und auch für mich – war das Hockeyspielen in der Halle. Schon in der Schule habe ich es geliebt. Einmal habe ich sogar ein Stück Zahn verloren.

At the first weekend (Sept 26th to 28th) I had a group of 7 teenagers. Only 12 years old but in the midst of the puberty! I could experiende this. Testing the limits it’s the one thing I tell you .
The greatest thing for them and also for me – was to play hockey in the sports hall. When I was in school I loved it. Once I lost a piece of my tooth.

Beim zweiten Einsatz (03. bis 05.10.) hatte ich 3 mal so viele Kinder im Alter von 8 – 12 Jahren. Aber es war wesentlich entspannter. Wahrscheinlich hatte ich gelernt vom letzten Mal. Vor allem war das eine Lehrstunde beim Meister für das Loslassen der Kontrolle an Ihn. Es war ein schönes Miteinander, vom Herrn gesegnet. Viele haben mit mir für dieses Wochenende gebetet. Danke!!

On the second weekend (Oct 3rd to 5th) I had 3 times as many children aged 8 to 12. But it was more relaxed than the weekend before. Probably I had learned. It had been especially a class with the master in letting go the controle into his hands. It was good teamwork with the kids, blessed by the Lord. Many prayed with me for this weekend. Thank you!!

Gespannt hörten die Kinder und Teens bei der Geschichte von Salvador aus Spanien zu. Mit 10 Jahren hatte er zu rauchen begonnen, dann Alkohol, Haschisch und schließlich hängt er mit 16 an der Nadel. Halbherzige Versuche, davon los zu kommen scheitern. Nichst scheint stärker als das Heroin. Bis er Jesus kennen lernt und Er ihn befreit.

The kids were excited about the story of Salvador from Spain. At the age of 10 he started to smoke, then alcohol, hashish and finally he was addicted to heroin at the age of 16. Half-hearted attempts to get rid of it failed. Nothing seemed to be stronger than heroin. Until he gets to know Jesus und He relieved him.

Außerdem haben wir gemeinsam darüber nachgedacht, wie man mit Anderen über die beste Nachricht der Welt reden kann. Das Ganze geht sehr gut mit dem Flick-Flack, den auch jedes Kind mit nach Hause nehmen durfte. Und hoffentlich auch zum Einsatz kommt!

Furthermore we were thinking about how to tell others the best news of the world. It’s great to use the “Flick-Flack” for that. And every child got one and I hope they will need and use it!

Wall Street Meltdown Cause for HSBC’s Withdrawal Before Deadline

Lone Star’s stalled effort to sell a controlling stake of Korea Exchange Bank (KEB), the fifth largest by assets, has come back to square one. HSBC Holdings, one of the world’s top British banks, has given up its bid to purchase the bank from Lone Star, a Dallas, Texas-based fund. But, this time, the cause of the broken deal was not so much the Korean government’s bureaucracy as the unfolding turmoil on Wall Street.

HSBC Asia Terminates $6.3B KEB Agreement, Citing Recent Market Turmoil

Seoul, South Korea (AHN) – HSBC Holdings PLC (NYSE: HBC), which got 26 percent of its 2007 revenue in North America, announced on Friday that HSBC Asia has terminated its agreement to purchase Korea Exchange Bank for $6.3 billion.

HSBC Holdings, which is the parent company of the HSBC Group, decided to abandoned its bid to own a controlling stake in South Korea’s seventh-largest bank by assets from the U.S.-based investment firm, Lone Star Funds

“We are disappointed that HSBC terminated the agreement and that the transaction will not be completed,” John Grayken, Chairman of Lone Star Funds, said in a statment.

HSBC and Lone Star Funds had entered in to an initial agreement, which ended in the month of July, to acquire 51.02 percent stake in Korea Exchange Bank.

The bank blamed the uncertain financial market for its decision not to purchase the share owned by Texas-based private equity firm Lone Star.

HSBC, which had announced the deal a year ago, said its plans to buy the stake were no longer in the best interests of its shareholders.

Analysts say it may use the money to buy a western bank hit by the current economic slowdown and HSBC has been linked already with Washington Mutual and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

HSBC Scraps KEB Purchase After Failing to Cut Price

HSBC Holdings Plc, Europe’s largest bank, abandoned the $6 billion purchase of Korea Exchange Bank after failing to persuade owner Lone Star Funds that the global credit crisis justified a price cut.

Korea Exchange Bank’s shares had their biggest decline in more than four years after London-based HSBC said the plan to buy the fund’s 51 percent stake was no longer in shareholders’ interests. Regulators held the deal in limbo for a year, citing legal disputes involving Lone Star.

Financial Services Commission Chairman Jun Kwang Woo told reporters the talks failed as the two parties had “significant” differences over price. He declined to comment further.

Regulators had refused to approve the takeover until legal disputes surrounding Lone Star’s 2003 acquisition of Korea Exchange Bank were resolved. The criminal probe forced Kookmin Bank to cancel a purchase of Lone Star’s stake in November 2006.

Lone Star and its South Korea chief Paul Yoo on June 24 won appeals against their convictions for manipulating the stock price of a Korea Exchange Bank unit to buy the affiliate cheaply. In a related case, prosecutors also allege Lone Star’s purchase of the Korean bank was engineered at an artificially low price through a political conspiracy.

John Grayken, the chairman of Dallas, Texas-based Lone Star, appeared at the Seoul Central District Court as a witness in the trial of Paul Yoo, the head of the fund’s South Korea operations, at the request of Yoo’s defense team.

Lone Star’s attempts to sell its controlling stake in Korea Exchange Bank, which it acquired in 2003, has been hampered by Yoo’s case as well as other legal and tax issues involving the fund.

The world of wheeling and dealing, Texas style, has taken a hit.  Lone Star Equity is not a household word, but it is a major player in multi-national investment. Texas financial wheeler dealers specialize in purchasing distressed companies and grabbing leveraged buy-outs. It also purchases underperforming and non-performing loans from world banks. Their fingerprints are all over the world, they have been accused of tax evasion and failing to report assets.  They are now exposed because of the global economy meltdown. The tip of a huge iceburg, Dallas based Lone Star is the loose string on a woven sweater that when pulled, will expose the bare naked truth about our over speculated economy.

These unregulated speculators take our money and gamble with the world.  They have made money for themselves and lost money for others, they are expert salesmen.  They are the epitome of PONZI. The fallout is overwhelming, because, their investors are willing to trust someone else to make their investments grow.  Americans, in general, are not educated about money or economics. Most people will change channels when business news comes on the TV.  The federal education system has unwittingly created a population of dependents. We depend on someone else to know what is going on and have no way to question their integrity.  Hopefully this was an educational oversight and not just another conspiracy, there are so many conspiracies to choose from… The house of speculation is falling hard right now.  The federal government is scrambling to catch it before it splatters.  You and I are the victims.  We did not pay close enough attention to something we did not understand.

Watch and learn from all this.  The hidden manipulators are being exposed daily.  Take pictures and remember their names.

Zeit um hier mal up zu daten! Seit Freitag bin ich wieder in einer ganz normalen Wohnung in Kirchdorf. Nach 5 Wochen Campingplatzleben. Aber ich habe keine Probleme: ich werfe nicht aus Versehen 50 cent in meine Dusche für Warmwasser und gehe auch nicht ins Nachbarhaus auf die Toilette oder so… Diesbezüglich keine Umstellungsprobleme; was die Gesellschaft betrifft schon; hier bei mir in der Wohnung ist weit weniger los, als am Campingplatz .

Time to give an update! Since Friday I am back in my normal home in Kirchdorf. After 5 weeks living at the campingsite. But I’ve had no problems so far: I haven’t thrown 50 cent into my shower for hot water neither I haven’t been going to the bathroom in the neighbourgh’s house or so… According theses things no problems of change; community is another thing; here in my flat is not as much going on as at the campingsite .

In den ersten 2 Wochen waren einige Jungs da! Das war cool! Ich glaube, manche Mädels kamen, wegen der Jungs!
The first 2 weeks many boys came! That was fun! I think some girls came because of the boys!

Wir haben ein Surfbrett geschenkt bekommen; aber wir benutzen es nicht zum Surfen Das dient jetzt als Blickfang und damit sich jeder auskennt, was das für ein Zelt ist!

We got a surf board; but we don’t use it for surfing It is now an attention getter so that everyone knows what this tent is!

Besonders in den ersten beiden Wochen waren mehr Teenager da, aber es waren auch öfters wenige – etwa 2 bis 5. Das war für mich nicht immer leicht. Aber ich bin froh, dass der Herr durchgetragen hat und mir mit den Entscheidungen geholfen hat. Wie hier, als wir eine Radtour machten! Das würde ich nicht mit 10 Teens machen. Ich genoss es und wir hatten viel Spaß!

Especially in the first 2 weeks more Teens came to the programme, but often there were only a few – from 2 to 5. That wasn’t always easy for my. But i am glad that the Lord carried me through and helped me with the decisions. Here we went on a bike ride! I wouldn’t do this with 10 Teenagers. I really enjoyed it and we had great fun!

Wenn eines bleibt von diesen 5 Wochen, dann wieder einmal das Bewußtsein: Teenagern, die noch nicht viel von Gott wissen, von dem zu erzählen, der sie gemacht hat – das ist, wofür ich gemacht bin! Mein Herz hüpfte jedes mal, wenn ich dies tun durfte.

If one thing is staying from these 5 weeks, than it is again the confidence: To tell teenagers who don’t know God, about the One who made them – that is what I am made for! My heart was jumping every time i could do this.

Ich mag sie alles so gerne! Die lieben Mitarbeiter und Helfer (die auf dem Bild waren im Kinderzelt)! I just love them (these worked in the children’s tent)! The lovely workers and helpers.

Während dieser 5 Wochen konnten wir Gottes Hilfe in allen Dingen erfahren: Nichts ist beschädigt oder verwüstet worden bei Sturm und Regen. Keine Unruhestifter bei uns oder Trunkenbolde, die uns wirklich belästigten.  Keine größere Störungen. Gott half mit dem Wetter für die Programme – vor allem ich war sehr dankbar, wenn z.B. am Nachmittag das Wetter hielt, auch wenn es sehr nach Regen ausschaute. Wir machten oft Spiele auf dem Sportplatz. Gott wachte über uns auch beim Auf- und Abbau (2 große Zelte, 3 Vorzelte von Wohnwägen). Alles sollte schließlich trocken wieder eingepackt werden!

During these 5 weeks we could see God’s help in all things: Nothing destroyed from storm or rain. No disturber or drunken person bothering us. No greater annoyance. God helped with the weather for the programmes – especially I was thankfull, when for example in the afternoon the rain didn’t come although it looked like. We often had games at the sports field. God kept watching over us also during the installation and the dismantling of facilities (two big tens and 3 front tens of the caravan). Everything should get packed in dry!

Es war eine gute Zeit und ich denke, ich konnte wieder einmal viel lernen. Vielen Dank für alle Unterstützung!
