Well thought it might be nice after a few days rest just catching up with what I have been doing… Life RL wise has been full on. Have been without work for a few months – and I hear you all going awwwwww. It ok cause there is good bits and bad bits. Firstly it was wild to have more holidays then I can poke a stick at. Although after the school holidays were done and everyone was going back I felt a little sad for all of five seconds. Then a few weeks later reality set in and I realised 1. Money doesn’t grow on trees – damn it. 2. I will have to start getting work – not that I have not tried before! So after all those thoughts I finally knuckled down and signed with two agencies and awaited my CRB. And I waited ….. And I waited…. And I waited……. About one and half months later I finally was able to start working and ever since that day I have not stopped with being called in for jobs. Let alone this week I have done five days worth of work. So RL was kicking in and then we had a step up in SL. I had lots of time to do at the two shops I model in – Rock Me Amadeus – which is my regular store and a totally wicked place to go. I have also lately as I mentioned in previous posts been modeling in House of Beningborough for their competition and I love that as I get to be on runway with my friends Queenbrat , Elyna and Kat. It is nice when we get to chat but Sunday was a total nightmare as everything was discounted At the same time it was fun to see what happens on a madhouse day
Well with all the challenge things to do , my hours to work, preparing pictures for a few competitions and trying to spend time with Shal just about burnt myself out. But as always we managed to find time and I manage to get everything done RL and SL.

I was thinking the other say that as contestants and competitors what do we really know about each other in Miss Refined So here are 10 things about me that most people (even people who think they know me well) don’t know.

#1 I like to quilt – not everyone knows about this one I love making traditional quilts from hand – very rare people actually see this as I was embarrassed about being young and enjoying such an old world craft

#2 I hate to have baths – not too sure when this all came about but I much prefer to soak in a steamy shower for a long time then I do the bath – must be the pummeling water

#3 I actually know how to change my own tires and to fix up various parts in my car. Due to a relationship with a mechanic I was privy to many long hours being right hand woman to him when he worked on our cars! I do learn.

#4 I love to sing and generally can be found singing in the shower and the car and at times when I am on my own at home. I was told I was tone deaf and sounded like a dog dying one time so have not assaulted anyones ears with my voice anymore

#5 I hate sausages – don’t know what it is but ever since I was young I have hated all types of sausages and this is not without re trying them at lots of different stages.

#6 I have the same middle name and confirmation name as my best friend from Australia I think its only her and I that know that one

#7 Im not a natural blonde Well not anymore hee hee

#8 I love the snow and even strange still I love it when its so cold it makes it all crinkly in your nose!!!!

#9 I do not like to be around people who always think that things go wrong. They have a very negative attitude and i find that it brings me down just a little I will always try to lift peoples spirit but they make it very hard!

#10 I love it when its cold and wet and i can curl up with a hot chocolate and a book

i spent the last weekend bored off my tits, just hanging out with madz and keeley.
i know this post is late but whatever ever.
i have my own reasons, valid or not – that’s my prerogative.

after receiving the diary in the mail yesterday i tried to call lou.
i left a number of messages including a few abusive text.
she refused to answer my call last night as well.
but whatever, her fucking loss.

madz and i have started to pack a few things for our getaway, i think she needs the break after all the drama.
angelo’s gone back to italy to visit family, shane’s in chicago (oh how i miss him) and charlie’s well… he’s just at home.
he and keeley have spent alot of time together, but that’s really good for them.
i think after paul, keeley just needs someone a little more sane.

jared’s gone back to bristol to stay with mom.
he and lina are having a little tiff but surely they’ll be over it in no time.

no one really went out – which is a little surprising.
why?
i don’t know.
i just wasn’t in the mood.
madz wasn’t in the mood.
keeley was at charlie’s – but wasn’t in the mood.
angelo and shane weren’t even in town – and from where they were, probably weren’t in the mood.
are we getting old?

let’s hope not.
madz and i have another entire city of clubs to get through in a few days!

Just a little post to point people in the direction of the Northern Lights Rats website, specifically the My Rats page as all nine new guys and girls have had their own pages added, after having a photo shoot last weekend.

not that i had a problem with it, but i just wasn’t too sure yet – considering the differences between shane and him.
ok ok, i shouldn’t worry because it’s not my problem.
but i care about shane.
and well, darcy’s alright.

anyway, she spent most of the conversation babbling on about how cool he was and how hot he is and blah blah blah.
my ears were bleeding by the end of it.
she scolded me again for not mentioning him before.
but if i remember correctly – she was with paul when i met him.
so then she told me off for madz not introducing them before she met paul.
she’s barking up the wrong tree if you tell me.

we talked about my birthday which was coming up in a month.
we also talked about the weekender madz and i were doing in a few weeks.
i re-invited her, but she insisted that she was happy to stay home.
if i know her like i know her… she’ll be with charlie.

My new ratties are here – 6 new babies all the way from Gloucestershire and West Wales! I drove down to Wiltshire to my parents’ house on Friday, collected ratties from Stroud on Saturday then drove all the way back up the road on Sunday! 670 miles from Warminster to Wick.

So I now have a British Blue buck (Stanley) and his Black brother (Nedd) from Aquarius Rattery. These guys will be the foundation bucks for my blue line.

And I have a Chocolate Agouti Rex buck (Hew), his Black smooth coated brother (Farleigh) and their two sisters, a Chocolate Rex (Keeley) and her Agouti Rex sister (Fearn), all from Cariad Stud. The choccy guys will be foundations of my champagne line.

Keeley and Fearn have been moved into the top half of the aviary with Jasmine, Rosemary and Thyme and they are all getting along really well. They are a wee bit nervy still but they’re only young and have had a lot to deal with over the past few days.

All four boys are living together temporarily in the Rene 82 cage until the younger boys get big enough to not fit through the bars of the Tommy cage. They are full of mischief and up the bars as soon as I speak to them.

I will get some photos of them shortly but would like to take some in daylight and the weather is truly grim at the moment and I seem to be at work continuously and never home during daylight hours!!

well, keeley and i hit “g-spot” last week and caught up with darcy and charlie.
of course while keeley and charlie were in the corner swapping saliva, darcy and i had a chat.

i’m pretty sure they went back to charlie’s together since darcy had no ride home and well i ended up cabbing it with darcy back to mine.
no he didn’t come up for a ‘coffee or tea.’
he knows very well that i’m… with shane, sort of anyway.
and he’s happy with it.
well at least he said he was.

keeley called me yesterday asking me how on earth she ended up at charlie’s.
she was asking the wrong person to be honest.
but yes, by the time the night ended, she was quite drunk.
but she swears black and blue that nothing happened last night.

lou’s turned up again.
she for some reason didn’t return my call during the week.
we were meant to have lunch, but she never showed, nor did she call me back after i left her a voice mail.
not sure what was going on with her.

i’m not sure what is going on, but right now i’m very easily irritated that i’m ‘on hold.’

i spent most of this weekend indoors.
relaxing and fluffing about.
i did go shopping with keeley on thursday night though, after finishing work at 3pm just to do so.
she needed a little retail therapy.
paul had been harassing her still.
and it was almost at the point where i was going to get an intervention order on her behalf.

we’d planned to hit “the g spot” next week.
darcy had called and was hoping to catch up.
and was heading to the bar this weekend with charlie.
of course shane wasn’t too eager with the idea, but he said that i was allowed to do whatever i wanted.
since he and i weren’t dating yet, i guess he was right.
i invited shane to come along and he said he might, but i wasn’t going to hold him to it.
besides it was a night out for keeley and i, and it had been a while since we’d got out.

i’d also received a call from lou.
she was back in ny and wanted to catch up during the week.
so i told her i’d give her a call.
she didn’t sound very cheerful.
she sounded quite mellow.
i wasn’t too sure if she was just coming down with something, or that something was bothering her.
i decided to wait until i had lunch with her to find out.

speaking of lunch, madz and i went out on sunday for a feed.
she was in the midst of packing for italy and was in need of some food.
and i guess i was pretty famished at the same time – so two and two – make the connection.

she left for italy today, with angelo.
just for 12 days.
a nice little getaway.
hopefully no dramas though.
and she better visit milan and take a million pics for me.
or else.

no clubs this weekend.
just me, myself and tivo.
and my ciggarettes.
i really should kick this habit.
but it’s relaxing.
though technically it does the total opposite to your heart.
go figure.

this week is going to be a bit of a drainer.

I was once hired to promote a ‘leading men’s deodorant brand’ which out of respect for my employer I won’t identify here, though for the sake of my blog’s integrity I will say that it makes you smell like a teenage boy, and it rhymes with ‘stinks’.

The gist of it was I got paid £90 to distribute promotional packs of the latest range called ‘Dry Focus’ on and around my university campus. The promotional packs consisted of florescent light bulb-like tubes containing a rolled up poster of the page 3 model Keeley Hazell and a small sample canister. The poster had a seductive caption: “Guys, keep your eyes on the prize, the mating game is all about your wits not your pits. Stay dry, stay focussed. Keeley x.” About 400 of these arrived in a hefty box at my door and though I spent two afternoons earnestly harassing indifferent undergraduates, there were about 100 cans left over which are currently maturing peacefully under my bed, clocking up vintage.

It was generally a humiliating task. I had to always be on the move in fear that one of these students will open their present immediately and be offended by the poster and tell me just how little respect I have for myself. On a couple of occasions I also had to be accompanied in the shadows by a friend who had to take photographic evidence of my work. If I was really doing my job properly I would have also gone into lectures and announced to a crowd of 100 4th-year linguists that Dry Focus gives lads ‘pulling power’.

Lectures are a great place to target a large number of people in one area. You will need to target 2 lectures per week – distribute the cans as students enter and leave the lecture theatre. Brownie points for anyone who is able to get Lynx a mention at the start or end of the lecture. Why not tell them to come and see you if they want a free can and to try the latest pulling aid from Lynx.

And you’ll see there’s all sorts of extra homework to do on social networking sites which I dutifully complied with in my occupation-less tedium, to the general wrath of my facebook community. As I went online and searched for Lynx (oops I said it), I’d see that my colleagues from across the country had already been there. Bogus five-star reviews on Amazon (which, to their credit, they’ve since taken down). Bogus fan clubs with bogus messages from friends who loved the sampler. Bogus threads on YouTube ad pages for the product. Lynx was everywhere, and where it wasn’t, I made my mark- it was like Fight Club.

The job was advertised on SAGE, the university jobs listings service. I was eventually paid about two months after the end of the project, once their accounts department had worked out how to peel a banana. Dubit, the marketing agency who were responsible for this, also recruit children for viral campaigns, as evidenced by an ad I once saw on their recruitment hive Dubit Insider. Dubit children roam the Earth precociously turning other children into Dubit children. At a certain age they spontaneously wither one day, taking with them, to purgatory, anyone within a radius of five or six metres. And that might be how the world ends.

(Update, November 1, 2009: A guy in India has sued Lynx (or, ‘Axe’, as the brand is called out there) on the grounds that in seven years of using the company’s products he has not attracted a single girl. Vaibhav Bedi, 26, said: “The company cheated me because in its advertisements, it says women will be attracted to you if you use [Lynx]. I used it for seven years but no girl came to me.” Full story.)

ok so emily isn’t so bad after all.
she’d asked me to lunch because she needed some… woman to woman advice.
it seems that everyone comes to me for this stuff.
she’s been having some family problems and since she’d only been in new york for 6 months, she hadn’t quite made enough friends to confide in them.
why she confided in me, i will never fully understand.
but i felt sorry for her.
she was struggling to get along with her step father and his two sons, and wasn’t sure what she could do.
we talked abit at lunch, and got to know each other as well.
i mean, i hardly knew the girl, so i gave her the chance to introduce me to the real emily.
and in return i let her get to know me.
yes i let her.
i don’t usually let just anyone get to know me.

keeley called me today as well.
paul has been calling her every day asking her to see him.
he’s emailed her, called her parents, called me a few times and even called her assistant.
i’ve told her she needs to do something about it or else i will.

shane and i are having dinner tonight.
this time i will ask him about darcy and what went on between them.
i’m abit nervous about the whole thing, and i’m not really sure how to bring it up in conversation with him.
i guess i’ll just have to wing it.
for now, i’m heading out to an early lunch.
