Para prevenir que el regalón del hogar se contagiara con garrapatas, tan comunes en estas fechas, y ante el ofrecimiento -en la puerta de la casa- de una vacuna que prevenía el contagio con tan desagradables ácaros, una inocente familia angelina accedió a inyectar a su mascota, que pasadas unas horas presentó distintos problemas de salud, que hoy lo mantienen en coma.El buen tiempo es sinónimo de garrapatas. Llega el verano y, junto al calor, aparecen estos pequeños bichitos que provocan una gran picazón y muchísimas heridas, infecciones y enfermedades en nuestros perros… e incluso en nosotros mismos. Lo que sucede es que esta estación del año es un verdadero caldo de cultivo para estas pequeñas bestias que no pierden tiempo cuando se trata de extraer sangre de nuestros animales.
Esto es un tema conocido, por lo que todos aquellos que quieren y cuidan a sus mascotas, buscan alguna solución a este problema. Es en ese momento, donde aparecen ciertos personajes que sin ninguna certificación y viendo una posibilidad de negocio, aplican indiscriminadamente vacunas que matan, aquellas que se ofrecen a muy bajo costo, en cualquier lugar y que son aplicadas por cualquier persona.
Precisamente, este es el caso que afectó a la familia Navarrete, que por buscar una solución para prevenir un posible contagio en su mascota regalona, un perro de raza collie de ocho años, decidió inyectarlo. Hoy el can permanece en coma en una clínica veterinaria, mientras que toda la familia se encuentra destrozada por la situación.
“Veníamos llegando del campo y por hacerlo mejor se vacunó. Quedó con daño neurológico, lleva ocho días hospitalizado, batiéndose entre la vida y la muerte”, relató Sassye Navarrete.
Consternada manifiesta que si bien, para muchas personas puede significar un ‘alaraco’, una denuncia que no tiene gran sustento, es algo realmente importante para las personas. Argumenta, que para su familia como para muchas otras en esta ciudad las mascotas son parte del hogar, son compañía de enfermos, entretención de niños, uno más en la familia. Por lo que, este tipo de situaciones afecta directamente a la ciudadanía.
“Me preocupa que estas personas ofrecen sus servicios por toda la ciudad, exponiendo a los perros”, recalca Navarrete.
Al mismo tiempo, señala, que Keeper era la mascota regalona de toda la familia, por lo que existe un profundo dolor por su pérdida.
“Es un perro de la familia, para nosotros es una pérdida total, nosotros siempre lo hemos cuidado responsablemente, esta controlado con veterinaria, le damos alimentos adecuados”, relató con nostalgia Sassye, quien espera que situaciones como estas tengan fiscalización. “Es terrible lo que estamos pasando por un descriterio de una persona”, insiste.
La Tribuna, se dirigió hasta la Clínica Veterinaria Pehuén, lugar donde está siendo atendido esta mascota, para conocer detalles de la situación clínica de Keeper.
El doctor Alexis Jara, médico veterinario a cargo del tratamiento, ratificó la versión de la familia Navarrete, señalando que, efectivamente, el perro ingresó con ceguera, vómitos y con estado neurológico avanzado, por una intoxicación con una sustancia que se utiliza para desparasitar a ovinos o caprinos. Indicó que pese a los esfuerzos, el perro quedó muy dañado, ‘en coma’; pero la familia lo cuidará hasta que fallezca por muerte natural.
El facultativo expresó finalmente, que este no es el único caso de este tipo que ha ingresado a la clínica veterinaria, ya que en la tarde del miércoles llegó otra mascota, de raza akita, con el mismo cuadro clínico.
¿Quién controla este tipo de situaciones?; ¿Cualquier persona puede aplicar estas sustancias a los perros, aprovechando el desconocimiento de la ciudadanía?; ¿Hay sanciones para los responsables de la muerte de una mascota?; son parte de los planteamientos que surgen en este lamentable caso.

Veel keepers kijken ieder jaar uit naar het zaalseizoen.

Ze krijgen dan altijd veel te doen en zijn vaak directer betrokken bij het spel dan op het veld. Toch zijn er een aantal specifieke zaken waar de keepers op moeten letten en om ze daar op te wijzen organiseren we ieder jaar een zaalclinic voor alle jeugdkeepers die in de zaal gaan keepen.

 Dit jaar is dit als volgt geregeld:

29/11/2009 tussen 12.30 uur en 14.00 uur
Bedoeld voor alle keepers die op maandag keeperstraining hebben.
Dit zijn over het algemeen keepers met al meerdere jaren keeperservaring en het accent zal voor deze groep liggen op het doen van veel oefeningen.

06/12/2009 tussen 10.00 uur en 12.00 uur
Alle overige keepers zijn van harte welkom op deze clinic waarbij we niet alleen oefeningen zullen doen, maar ook uitleg zullen geven over materiaal, over regels en over eventuele andere zaken waar je op moet letten.

Om hieraan mee te kunnen doen wil ik betrokkenen verzoeken om een mail te sturen naar keepers@leonidas.nl onder vermelding van zaalclinic en de naam van de keeper of keepster en het bijbehorende elftal.

Afhankelijk van het aantal aanmeldingen maken we een verdeling voor die ochtend.

Laten we er weer een mooi zaalseizoen van maken!

Ob es tatsächlich Selbstmord war, werden die Ermittlungen klären.

Ob sich jemand Freund nennen darf, der ein paar Minuten nach Ableben seines Freundes (?) mit solchen Behauptungen für Schlagzeilen sorgt, muss er mit seinem Gewissen klären.

Ob die Lücke, die sein Tod gerissen hat, geschlossen werden kann, wird die Zeit klären.

Möglicherweise.

Tatsache ist:

Nachdem er monatelang mit einer bakteriellen Infektion gekämpft hatte und selbst das Tropeninstitut ratlos war, soll es ihm inzwischen besser gegangen sein. Vor drei Jahren verloren er und seine Frau die zweijährige Tochter Lara. Neues Familienglück stellte sich erst vor wenigen Monaten mit dem Adoptiv-Mädchen Leila ein. Immer wieder erlitt er Rückschläge … immer wieder steckte er sie weg und machte weiter. Aber „immer wieder“ kann eben selbst für starke Menschen irgendwann das berüchtigte „eine Mal zuviel“ sein. Vielleicht war es das. Denn auch der stärkste Mensch hat irgendwo seine Grenzen.

Tatsache ist auch:

Er war einer der ganz wenigen Menschen, über den ich niemals auch nur den Anschein einer negativen Äußerung gehört habe. Und auch nicht von ihm über andere Menschen. Er war sehr engagiert gegen Rechtsradikalismus und vor allem für Kinder und Tiere in Not. Er war allseits und offensichtlich ausnahmslos beliebt. Beliebt für seine natürliche Art als Mensch. Beliebt als Keeper von Hannover 96 und die optionale Nummer 1 im Tor der Deutschen Nationalelf in Südafrika 2010.

Schmerzliche Tatsache ist:

Robert Enke ist gestern Abend leider zum letzten Mal vom Platz gegangen: Gegen 18:30 Uhr wurde er in der Nähe von Hannover von einem Zug erfasst und tödlich verletzt. Die Fassungslosigkeit, die mit diesem Tod verbunden ist, scheint grenzenlos zu sein. Bereits wenige Stunden nach seinem Ableben waren aus der ganzen Welt Tausende von Beileidsbekundungen auf seiner Homepage hinterlassen worden. Trauer über den Verlust, Mitgefühl mit seiner Frau und seiner kleinen Tochter, Bedauern darüber, dass mit ihm einer der besten Keeper aller Zeiten gegangen ist. Ein Journalist entschuldigte sich sogar neben dem Bekunden seines Beileids dafür, diese Nachricht verbreiten zu müssen.

In erster Linie gilt die Trauer jedoch dem Menschen Robert Enke, nicht dem Keeper. „Nur“ einem Menschen? Nein, wohl eher einem der letzten tatsächlichen Menschen, die es im Fußball-„Business“ überhaupt noch gegeben hat. Einem Menschen, der sich noch ehrlich freuen konnte und dem seine Fans nicht nur sprichwörtlich in guten und in schlechten Zeiten stets beigestanden haben. Einem Menschen, der ebenso immer für seine Fans da war. Offen, ehrlich und stets fair. Eben einfach als Mensch.

Und wieder handelt es sich um eine dieser verdammten Situationen, die Tausende Fragen aufwirft, auf die es jedoch keine Antworten gibt. Zumindest keine zufrieden stellenden. Was bleibt ist nur ein leises „Tschüs“, gute Gedanken an seine Frau und Tochter, sowie die Akzeptanz für seine Entscheidung …

… wenn es denn seine war.

After yesterday BeeKeeper club meeting, I asked a couple of people how to stop condensation in the hive.

Goldie seems to have a big problem with water build up in the roof, most people agreed that cutting a hole in the Bee Matt which is actually the layer below the tin roof. May help this issue, as it causes the heat from the hive to rise up through the hole and push the water down the walls.

So we did this to our new hive matt and added it to Goldie today, we also added a second brood box at the lower level. This is to make the Bee’s fill it up quicker. We have been told…

The hive inspection went well, with signs of new bees and lots of new brood and capped food. Did see the queen near the middle, but then lost her in a crowd of bees.

Also removed all the door blockers as the hive is very strong now, hopefully it can fend off any attack from other bees or wasps (not strong this time of year)

Honey1 is also back up and running with a NUC placed in it today, M will tell you more in her blog post.

Hive looks good, will do another inspection in two weeks 22 Nov 2009.

Ik ben in de herfstvakantie samen met Lotte naar de Ares keepersclinic geweest.  Bijna 200 keepers verdeeld over de ochtend en de middag met tussendoor een demo van Floortje Engels. Goed georganiseerd en zeker de moeite waard. Voor een fotoverslag klik hier.

This weekend I got in touch with my angry soccer mom…

On the way out the door Starshine ran down the stairs and sustained an almost identical injury to my knock down on the ice the previous Friday…

I saw her go down… tailbone… bump… bump… head… bang…

SCREAM……

Luckily our stairs are only four steps of old soft wood…

Even though she could hardly walk, and sat in shock under a blanket in the car, she wanted to go out to her Sunday morning game in Richmond…

We got there just as the game started…

It is very hard to watch your daughter stand there crying as she tries to explain to her two coaches that she wants to play but isn’t sure she can…

and it is even harder to watch three goals go into the net in the second half when she is the keeper…

and to see the disappointment in the other soccer moms in the bleachers…

Especially in the face of the mother whose daughter was in goal for the first period and got a shut out… the mother who screams, “YOU have to be hungry for the ball!!!! You HAVE to want it!!!! You don’t WANT it!!!”

I had to ask myself, over, and over… Whose game is this???

And when another girl went down… tripping in a way so that the wind got knocked out of her… I almost couldn’t stand it…

Her dad half-watched from the sidelines on his cell phone…

I sat with his daughter until she got her breath back and then asked her if she needed a hug from her dad…

She nodded with eyes full of tears and when we walked over and I said to the dad still talking on his cell phone, 

“I think your girl needs a hug…”

He looked like he didn’t know what to do… 

But maybe I’m projecting…

I think sports are great… I’m really happy that my daughter has school friends who play winter soccer and because of that she wants to play too…

I like that she’s running around… I like that she’s developing her coordination, her confidence, and new skills…

But I also have major issues…

And I’m willing to take full responsibility for them…

People love to go on about the emotion of the game… and the beauty…

But healthy beauty and emotion are not incidental… they require as much, if not more, care and attention than the physical aspects in sport…

And the capacity to grow healthy beauty and emotion is held in the adult environment that surrounds our children… it seems to me that we are currently working with very limited capacity… and unlike Dr. Gordon Neufeld’s claim… there never were any good old days…

There are no better times to go back to… we have to create what we want… starting now…

and we’ll be able to as soon as we know what that is…

Until we centre ourselves on a vision and a story of creation…we don’t have a hope in hell of growing any roots of empathy in depleted and toxic soil…

I’ve worked with a lot of other people’s children in my life… and I’ve only just begun to creep up on middle age…

A few years ago a boy came to me from Kindergarten… his teacher had about as much creative energy as a raisin… I like raisins… they can be very sweet… they’re delicious in granola… but if given a choice I’d rather eat a nice juicy grape…

I remember what this boy said to me in grade one… at six years old…

his eyes as big as a horse…

Last year I cried every day… because whenever we had to write I never had any ideas… and this year I have so many ideas I can’t get them down fast enough…

I have digital footage of him talking about an airplane he built with plastic cubes that connect… his work shows awareness and knowledge of symmetry, balance, aerodynamics, number, space, and cooperation because he built it with his friends…

As the teacher I didn’t have to DO very much but provide the materials, model some critical thinking, hold the space for him to inquire and create with his own magic…

and listen with a lot of openness, and love…

As he talks about his airplane, he spits with excitement… and honest pride…

This year he is in grade six… and I heard that grade five was so rough he had become THE BIG problem in the school… crying everyday at an age when boys aren’t supposed to cry anymore… wanting his mom to be there at lunch…

If you’re a person who is both intellectual and feeling with eyes as big as a horse, and you have a teacher who although physically pleasing on the outside, embodies negativity on the inside… you’ll simply shut down production… 

In a flight for survival…

I love to play Scrabble… and when I play I am committed to finding a way for the most interesting words to show up on the board… I can be hungry for points too but I’m much more compelled by creative scoring… and I’ll even sacrifice my own momentary opportunities for spelling glory to hold the space for someone else to make a beautiful play on words…
