I had this unit profesionally installed in my Porsche Cayman and the custom installation is a very good fit. The navigation system is very easy to use – if you’ve had a garmin (that is what it is based on), you pretty much do not need to read the manual – it is very intuitive and accurate. I’ve driven about 2000 miles with it and I like the large bright display – it is easy to change directions and detour on the fly. It does not have voice commands, but the touch screen is easy to use.
I have also used the bluetooth with my Razr phone and have not encountered the problems stated in the earlier review. The microphone is placed near the rearview mirror and only the front speakers come on when I’m talking on the phone – the unit shuts off any music that you might have playing. I use the touchscreen to dial a number and it works well – the folks at the receiving end have no problem hearing me.
There is also an ipod adapter that is in the glove compartment – once hooked up all controls are on the touchscreen – it is easy to use and works well. If one puts in a DVD / CD that takes precedence over the ipod unless you instruct the unit otherwise. I leave the unit to power up when starting the car and it automatically shuts off when the engine is off. I haven’t used the XM stations as I do not subscribe to that service but the FM stations pull in fine using the standard antenna that came with the car.
All in all this is a very good unit and I am very happy with it.

Would I buy this again? Probably not – Rhines44 – Spfld, IL
Okay unit. I recently hooked it up in my 2010 fj cruiser with no problems. It installed very easily. I am going to make a quick list of the problems I have come across on this unit:
Auto dimming does not dim enough…very bright at night.
virtual buttons (stereo, USB, cd, etc) are too small to easily utilize while driving.
USB input works…when it feels like it. (it will go from playing music to reading “no device”) at random. I have to unplug the drive and plug it back in to be found.
Aux input on the front of the unit does not work…it just doesn’t work (anyone know if I am doing something wrong? Plug in cable, input to music device and try to play it)
Bluetooth is quite terrible. (using Palm Pre) incoming voice sounds great, but I get complaints that my voice sounds “robotic and tinny”. I have tried moving the mic to different locations with no effect. I have tried a samsung instinct with the same result. Also, being able to dial from the stereos phonebook comes and goes at random…sometimes it works, sometimes it’s grayed out on the screen.

The sound on this unit is great and so is the Garmin Navigation.
It’s just feels like this unit is “buggy” and could use some firmware upgrades (mine is current)

Overall it is a good stereo with plenty of options, but could use some finishing. I felt like I was using a piece of equipment in it’s beta testing stage.
Blue Tooth compatibilty may be a serious problem – EJC – CT
I just had the DNX6140 installed in my Porsche Boxster. The Radio/DVD section sounds great,love the Nav unit, XM has no problems, great back up camera. Wil pick up a 32gb USB drive for mp3 files.

However, the BlueTooth section is a disgrace. The BT locks up my LG Incite (8 mos old) and requires it to be reset. My wife’s phone a HTC3125 (StarTrek)(2 yrs old)gets dropped and the BT won’t reconnect. Spoke w/ Kenwood they supposedly have heard of no problems (my installer was at a loss), they suggested down grading to an earlier firmware. To do this I had to take a BT equipped laptop (installer didn’t have one) to the car to install the firmware. This did not solve the problem. The installer swapped out the unit today thinking we had a bad BT unit. Guess what, the new one is no better.

Called Kenwood, no answer except to change phones. Nice option conssidering what a new phone will cost!!!!!

Not sure what I will do now!
Good Product, Good Features, Not so good manual and user interface – G. Tripathi – San Francisco Bay Area, CA, USA
Just installed Kenwood DNX6140 in the car along with a flip down monitor for back seat DVD viewing. My prime usage is during road trips and weekend driving, kids get to watch DVD in back while we listen to iPod/itouch in front and NAV displays the direction. The handsfree phone was a plus. So this unit does all that, has tons of features but the manual and user interface is a bit confusing. The NAV is garmin – simple to use and there is a analog NAV button to switch to it any time you want. Handsfree is parrot which is also pretty easy to use. The thing works beautifully with iphone (both for phone and music) and
also with my itouch (displays playlist etc). If you are using it along with flip down LCD screen in the back, you need to select “dual zone” which is under audio menu when you have the source select screen.
Kenwood would do well to actually publish a higher level “normal use cases” book so people can use the common features they want to use. Otherwise, the product seems to have all the features that are needed – has the looks etc.

For many many years I’ve been in to all things TECH!!! It all started with my passion for a ni

For many many years I’ve been in to all things TECH!!! It all started with my passion for a nice sound system at the age of 12. When I turned 12 years I bought my first Kenwood receiver and a set of generic bookshelf speakers. I truly felt like a HiFi aristocrat. A year later, with money I received from selling my snowmobile I bought a Kenwood Double Tape Deck with Dolby B and C Noise Reduction. This was a top of the line piece of equipment for it’s time. Shortly thereafter, I purchased a Kenwood CD player with money I received from confirmation. This was a big decision for me since CDs were very new at the time. I debated the lack of being able to record, the initial investment, and the longevity of CD technology and based on my research made the plunge. Look at what CD technology has led to now?

Over the next few years I would add a television and a VCR and eventually take the entire system to college. My system gained a nameskae that would forever be known as the “Heathaplex.” People would ask to come by and watch a movie at the Heathaplex. I certainly had no problem showing off my system, the sound quality and the surround sound system. Over the years, the Heathaplex would grow and upgrade. I started to sell of pieces of equipment to purchase new ones. The Heathaplex would come with me to Air Force Pilot Training in Del Rio, TX to my first assignment at Farichild AFB in Spokane, WA. This is where I purchased my first projection screen televison. The Heathaplex moved with me to Charleston AFB, SC during my time as an airlift pilot and eventually to my current home in Leavenworth, KS. It was during the move that my projection television was damaged beyond repair as well as a DVD player and a VCR. Once I received replacement value for the damaged items I purchased a Plasma television and a Blu Ray player. The Heathaplex is in full effect with 7.1 THX Surround Sound and 1080p vision. In short, the Heathaplex is off the Hizzle!!!

Now you see where my passion stemmed from, but it certainly doesn’t stop there. I’ve been exposed to computers since the first grade and never passed up the opportunity to crash a computer or physically take it apart to fix them. I’ve expanded my knowledge of the various sound processing formats along with all the new media available for Home Theater and Media Centers. It seems as if my dreams of having a computer in the living room are finally coming true with the ability of my PlayStation3, TiVo, and Sony Blu Ray player all being able to stream music off my network, access the internet, stream and rent movies from Amazon and NetFlix, and provide some incredible additional content to compliment my Blu Ray discs. In short, I spend a lot of time keep up with the Tech Joneses in an effort to share this knowledge with you.

Heathaplex Vision has a simple mission: to provide you with quality home and personal technology advice. Over the years I’ve helped design home heater setups, provided computer tech support, offered ways to setup computer networks, given guided tours of the Heathaplex and the options people have in Home Theater means. There is no length I won’t go to in order to give you the best advice possible. Even if you don’t know what you are looking for….let me know your ideas and I can introduce you to what is out there. I’ve had people give me a vision and a budget and made it a reality for the best price I can find. I want this to be a simple and fun endeavor. Let me help with your technology needs.

I hope you understand my passion and why I am starting up this outlet for my interests. You can follow me here at heathaplexvision.com or on my Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heathaplex-Vision/179754316645. I also have a Twitter page at Heathaplexvsn.

TECSUN S-2000 O TECSUN S-2000 e o GRUNDIG SATELLIT-750 são os mesmos equipamentos (rádios). Original

TECSUN S-2000

IMPRESSÃO DO VISUAL

We had a dinner guest tonight that was helping me learn some new skills and in trade we (ahem, I mea

We had a dinner guest tonight that was helping me learn some new skills and in trade we (ahem, I mean, Mike) made dinner.

Mike made a lovely meal of pan seared duck breasts in raspberry vinegar with Yukon potatoes drizzled in truffle butter and fresh dill. Mike used the duck renderings to make a simple sauce with white mushrooms. The side salad consisted of cucumber, carrot, red onion; red pepper dressed in olive oil, parsley, and pink Himalayan sale and ground white pepper. The whole meal was to dye for. I mean everything was spot on and cooked to perfection. Mike really outdid himself and made it look easy. The duck was juicy inside and had a great crisp skin. The potatoes soaked up the tuffel butter and together they melted in your mouth. The salad was a great way to clean the palette and start the flavor dance all over again.

Paired with a 2006 Kenwood Jack London Syrah from the Sonoma Valley, I feel the meal was a hit! The wine tasted of blackberry and bitter chocolate with subdued, dark flavors. Dry velour-and juicy, crisp berry acidity.

For a light dessert Mike cut up some mangos, black berries and cactus. A perfect way to finish any day!

Mike made a quick stew over Israeli cous cous with saffron. The stew was made up of okra, red onion, 2 jalapeños, dried boar sausage and pork.

Mike made a porcini broth with a bouillon while in another pot sautéing the pork and boar. Slowly he added the chopped vegetables and deglazed this with the broth. The meal was meaty, salty, and for me rather spicy. I got a bunch of the jalapeno chunks in my portion. I really enjoyed this dish, although I did need a glass of water when I was done, well after blowing my nose and having a glass of milk. The crispness of the okra, the sweetness of the red onion and the mixed meats were a waltz of flavors and textures in my mouth. The wine was a 2007 Kenwood Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc. A big and elegant fresh and fruity character with a crispness I attribute to the acidity. A wonderful pairing as the crisp flavors next to the somewhat hearty meal balanced each other out in the end.

Mike made a wonderful grilled chicken that was stuffed with roquefort and grilled. He served this with a side of corn on the cob and (also grilled, but of course!) and a salad made up of tomato, cucumber yellow pepper, and protobello mushrooms dressed with dill, olive oil, red wine vinegar and crispy bacon bits. All this was paired to a Kenwood 2008 Sonoma County Pinot Gris. This wine had a melon or a citrus flavor. Maybe both? I couldn’t quite get my finger on it, but it was soft. And the light flavor and the sweet chill of the wine helped take down some of the stink from the roquefor cheese.

The salad was very nice. I really enjoyed how clean the flavors were next to the meat and cheese. The roquefor with it’s marbled blue veins melted into the chicken. The soft texture and robust flavors were the star of this meal with out a doubt. The local corn on the cob was sweet and juicy (I believe that this was from Jersey) and smothered in, of course, butter.

Another wonderful and successful meal prepared by Mike.

Receptje
* 125 g bloem (tarwebloem)
* 125 g bloem (roggebloem)
* 0.5 dl melk (halfvol)
* 1 dl water
* 20 g gist
* zout
* 10 g boter (bakboter)
* 130 g hazelnoten
