Keri Hilson celebrated her 27th birthday by performing at 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2009 at the NOKIA Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 5). She received an Easy-Bake Oven from radio jock JoJo and was presented with a cake onstage. Fabolous, Jay Sean, Jason Derulo, and Nick Cannon also made appearances.

I’d melt everytime Keri Hilson releases a new video. Her vocals, tracks, lyrics and everything reminds me of my previous relationship in the past. We were close for a bit, then everything came crashing down. I guess we’re just not compatible, kind wished everything worked out; but nothing’s ever the same ever again after some time. Keri’s tracks Money Up, Change Me and Alienated were the exact sentiment to our breakup. I guess we all want more; perhaps just often not the same thing together.

First let’s take a look at Best Rap Album.  Is Flo Rida REALLY nominated?  I mean I know he puts out club hits but Best Rap Album????? Hmmmmmmm. And why is Common nominated for his worst album to date?????  Oh yea, 2008/2009 were BAD years.  Shout out to Eminem, Mos Def and Q-Tips for putting out stellar projects.  I wonder if Raekwon missed the deadline?  Best Rap Solo Performance features Cudi, Drake, Jay-Z, Eminem AND Mos Def for Casa Bey.  I would be surprised if Mos Def was even allowed on the Red Carpet for the Grammys let alone Nominated TWICE. BIG shout outs to Mos Def for a dope album and a stellar year.  Mos definitely deserves it.  The Best Rap Song category category features no surprises although Forever probably should have been in there judging by the current nominations.  Perhaps the biggest surprise comes in the Best Rap Performance by Duo or Group with the Beasite Boys and Nas.  Am I the only one who has never even heard of this song?????  Also, how the FUCK did Fabolous and Jay-Z’s song get nominated?  I saw the video like 3 times and never heard it again.  And my vote for Best Rap/Sung Collab goes to Keri Hilson, Neyo and Kanye for Knock You Down only because Keri’s ass in the video.  Make sure you tune in January 31st to see who takes how golden record players.  I included a bonus of Beastie Boys and Nas’ joint Too Many Rappers.

The much hyped collaboration finally leaks, since some information regarding tracklisting for their upcoming album ‘Til The Casket Drops’ had surfaced on the internet, there was a lot of interest in this one (even though there was a Kanye West collabo too), after Kinda Like A Big Deal ft. Kanye West was released, Popeye’s was all that people could talk about.

Dipset general Cam’ron had turned down the chance to work with the Clipse before, when invited to feature on the remix for their anthem ‘Grindin’, however now seems to be the time, many may expect a lot more, but I think the real Hip-Hop (or general Clipse/Cam’ron) fan will appreciate this for it’s classic rap feel.

Produced by The Neptunes and featuring a hook from Pharrell Williams, this track was created especially for this concept, The Neptunes have always known how to bring the best out of the Clipse, even though they are capable to shine just as well on a Justice League, Timbaland or Kanye West beat (I beleive Pusha T is one of the few emcees that could hold his own on a Dr Dre beat), there is a present chemistry between the two and this is obviously evident with this. So, once again the Clipse have not dissapointed, ‘fly-talk’, slick word-play, they possess it all and bring it to the table with this, an extra-dimension is offered with the feature provided by Cam’ron, “I’m Pharrell (for real) with the Clipse (clips)”, is one of the lines as he provides a classic Killa Cam flow, his presence is felt on the track and helps round this record up with the appeal of a classic song.

The video is a more realistic feeling video, rather than the generic extravagant videos that we are used to seeing, I like the styles that both the Clipse and Cam’ron bring to it, the video manages to parallel the beat in terms of its appeal, a laid back, friendly atmosphere, a video that people could actually relate to.

The Clipse’s third album ‘Til The Casket Drops’ is tipped to be another classic, with features from Keri Hilson, Kanye West & more, expect more anthems from Clipse and the whole Re-Up gang.

The nominees for the 52nd annual Grammy Awards were announced live on CBS last night. The nomination special was hosted by legendary rapper, LL Cool J and featured performances from The Black Eyed Peas, Nick Jonas and The Administration and Maxwell, who delivered an AMAZING rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Lady In My Life”.

Beyoncè won 5 Grammy's in 2004. She was the 3rd woman to win 5 Grammy's in one night.

As far as nominations are concerned, the undisputed ‘Queen of the Night’ was none other than music’s preeminent diva herself, Beyoncè,  who earned 10 nominations including ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Best Contemporary R&B Album’.

The "Princess of Country Music" Taylor Swift earned 8 Grammy nominations.

Country superstar Taylor Swift earned 8 nominations including ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’. Swift’s 8 nominations come off the heels of her sweeping the American Music Awards two weeks ago where she took home 5 AMA’s including ‘Artist of the Year’. Her sophomore album has been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA.

With 6 nominations, The Black Eyed Peas are poised to take home at least 3 Grammy's.

Pop/Hip-Hop group, The Black Eyed Peas, R&B crooner, Maxwell and controversial yet uber talented rapper, Kanye West each recieved 6 nominations.

GaGa earned 5 nominations including nods for Record, Album and Song of the Year.

Eccentric singer, Lady GaGa recieved 5 nominations including nominations for ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Best Electronic/Dance Album’.

Rap's newest stars, Drake and Kid Cudi both recieved their first Grammy Nominations. Cudi recieved two including "Best Rap Performance by Duo or Group" for "Make Her Say" with Kanye West and Common

Freshmen rappers, Kid Cudi and Drake each recieved nominations. Both are nominated for ‘Best Rap Solo Performance’, Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Night” and Drake’s #1 hit “Best I Ever Had” will go against legendary rappers Eminem’s “Beautiful”, Mos Def’s ” Casa Bey” and Jay-Z’s “D.O.A.(Death of Autotune)”.  Cudi also recieved a nomination for ‘Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group’ along with Kanye West and Common for his single,  “Make Her Say”.

Melanie Fiona's "It Kills Me" picks up a nod for 'Best Female Vocal Performance'

R&B newcomer, Melanie Fiona  recieved her first Grammy nomination. Her single “It Kills Me”  is nominated for ‘Best Female Vocal Performance’ .

In what came as a shock to many, myself included, Whitney Houston was recieved NO NOMINATIONS. I’m sure the suits over at J Records are still scratching their heads over this. Especially considering Houston’s comeback LP, ‘I Look To You’, was moved up a day in order to make the Grammy deadline.

Either way, this year’s (well next year’s)  Grammy’s are without a doubt interesting. I’m especially thankful that some newcomers were added to the list of nominees in the R&B and Rap categories. People can say what they want about Beyoncè receiving 10 nominations but no one can deny when it comes to music in 2009, NO ONE has had a bigger year. Even with her “I AM…” album being my least favorite in her catalog, Mrs. Knowles-Carter is well on her way, at least in my IMO to becoming an ICON.

Whitney being snubbed isn’t that much of a surprise to me. I, like the rest of the world was anticipating Whitney’s comeback LP, only to be disappointed. And it wasn’t because of her lacking vocal ability, it was the actual content of the album itself.

The Grammy’s will be held live on January 31st on CBS at 8 pm/et.

Keri Hilson found herself with two Grammy nominations of her own for Best New Artist and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. Miss Keri wept tears of joy on the inside upon hearing the good news.
