For the soundtrack to Alice In Wonderland which also features music from My girl Kerli 3oh!3, Metro Station Owl City, All American Rejects, Motion City Soundtrack  and one of my favorite bands Fraz Ferdinand. Plus many more.

I’m Loving this Avril track her voice sound like it has grown since we last herd her on her lackluster 2007 album The Best Damed Thing. I’m really looking forward to her new one coming out this year. I’m also excited to hear the songs from Kerli she really innovative and with the theme of Alice it has to be unusual and excellent.

Pop the champagne, for we must celebrate.  Well, maybe you should pop some sparkling cider.  I don’t love champagne as much as other people do.  Anyway, the point – Sarah and I are done with PED 190.  It’s over, and we don’t have to take it again, and I’m fairly certain we’ve both done well in the class.

The new season of Project Runway started tonight.  I didn’t watch, because I’ll be watching a DVRed copy with Sarah tomorrow morning.  I like it better that way; no commercials, and we get to watch it while eating breakfast.  It’s a treat I really look forward to.

“Jersey Shore” is a guilty pleasure of mine.  Some of the characters are very irritating.  Nearly every character on the show gives people of Italian descent a bad name.  However, I still enjoy the show.  Go figure.

The 8th season of 24 begins on Sunday.  I’m incredibly excited.  The night is booked for me.  Two hours in front of my TV.  Possibly with snacks.  Probably.  Super excited. Like, unbelievably so.  There are a few people who will be invited to watch with me.  If they have not received a formal (i.e., verbal) invitation from me yet, they will shortly.  I apologize to you if you are not one of them, but it’s not a party.  It’s a serious event with a semi-party atmosphere.

Today’s Springsteen song of the day is “Pink Cadillac.”  It was originally recorded in the early 80s in it’s acoustic form – Bruce and his guitar, for the Nebraska project.  For one reason or another, it was left off that album.  Two years later, while working on the Born In The U.S.A. project, Bruce created a more upbeat, multi-instrumental version of the song as a demo.  He then recorded it with the band, and it was very nearly put on the album.  However, it was taken out late in the project to be replaced with “I’m Going Down.”  Though it had been performed in concert many times, it was officially released to the world as a part of the Tracks project in 1998.  It’s a fantastic, funny song, with several double entendres – “…well honey it ain’t your money, ’cause baby I got plenty of that.  I love you for your pink cadillac…” etc.

The version included here is Jerry Lee Lewis covering the song, with Bruce Springsteen as backing vocals.  It’s fantastic.

Today’s non-Springsteen song of the day is “Creepshow” by Kerli.  She’s from a land called secret Estonia.  The whole album is like this fairy-tale pop/rock fantasy.  You can check out the album on your own, but I’ve included the link to “Creepshow.”  It’s my favorite on the album.  Not to mention that the video is pretty cool, too.

You’ve got a very important date to remember if you have been eagerly anticipating the soundtrack to the upcoming Tim Burton remake of the classic Disney movie, Alice in Wonderland. That date is March 2, which is when the disc will be available for purchase.

Isn’t that awesome? I can’t wait to hear it! Anyway, it’s gonna be called Almost Alice and it’ll be released on March 2nd. The first single is gonna be the Avril Lavigne track and the video for it will be released in early February. Yay!

What’s that sound I hear? Yup, that’s the sound of the interwebs being underwhelmed by the new Alice in Wonderland tracklisting that was released today. They’ve titled it “Almost Alice” which makes me hope this is really one of those “music inspired by…” type collections instead of music they’re actually using in the film. I did some google-ing and IMDB-ing and can’t seem to locate the music supervisor on this so we can’t get a feel for the work he/she has previously done but here it is…Feast your eyes on the tracklisting…

No, you have not gone blind you did read the names: Avril Lavigne, 3Oh!3 and SHINEDOWN on that list. I’ve gotta say I’m quite beyond surprised. What could have been a perfect opportunity to harness some of the buzz the movie already had and artists clamoring to get on blockbuster soundtracks these days by pulling a “Twilight: New Moon” and asking amazing artists to submit exclusive work was instead squandered on what seems to be a soundtrack made for the Hot Topic crowd. But it is a Tim Burton flick after all, I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised.

I’ll be interested to hear the tracks from Wolfmother and Robert Smith, but as for the rest… only March 2nd will tell. Maybe it’s too obvious but the whole Alice storyline seems ripe for some trippy, trance-y, more computer-y based electronic music like Frankmusik or Dan Deacon or Passion Pit (hello “sleepyhead!”) to keep it playful or even go into that Radiohead sound instead of this Top 40 rock that seems to be the m.o. for “Almost Alice”

Risparmio energetico (forse)?

Lady GaGa’s new single is “Bad Romance” off her new album The Fame Monster, dropping in about two weeks. I am addicted to this song. And I don’t know why! I’m not necessarily a fan of Lady GaGa. Her style of music is personally not my favorite–I’ve been deviating away from pop for a while–, but it’s been so damn catchy! “Just Dance” and “Pokerface” got me hooked, while the rest of her music didn’t inspire me much. Now she’s dropped “Bad Romance” and I can not get it out of my head.

When it comes to Lady GaGa herself, I am on the fence. I respect the fact that she has an artistic vision and wants to bring it to life. I understand that she wants to change the music industry. Cool, props to you. However, sometimes she’s just so…weird! I’m all one for being unique and being oneself, but for some reason, something about Lady GaGa irritates me. Sometimes it seems like she’s trying to hard. Her outfits at the VMA’s? Just insane. Her music videos? Visual overloads of god knows what. And yet for some reason, I’m drawn to “Bad Romance.”

Maybe it’s a mix of her music and a mix of her. But then I was going through my iTunes recently, and came across a different artist: Kerli Koiv. She’s not very well-known and I discovered her through myspace and Mtv. She’s a singer from Estonia–her music is dark yet catchy. My mom described her as the modern day version of Alanis Morissette, if that helps anyone. Below is the video for her single “Walking on Air.”

Now, anyone who would’ve stumbled upon her might say she’s a knock-off, tamed Lady GaGa. They look similar with their platinum blonde locks, both have interesting voices, both wear interesting clothes and both have a different sound from the mainstream pop. But Kerli is not a knock-off. I’m pretty sure her album ‘Love is Dead’ debuted before GaGa’s ‘The Fame.’ This girl also has a completely different sense of style, vision and self, although to some it might also be deemed weird. In my opinion, Kerli is also more talented. I also feel like I can connect to her music easier because she sings about personal issues, not fame and glamour like GaGa.

From my point of view, it seems like Kerli would be appreciated by more fans if she was bumped up to mainstream/somehow put on the radar. So why isn’t she? Wy is someone like GaGa who is equally talented (maybe less, maybe more) more popular and well-known? Both artists deserve the limelight.

I really love raw instrumentals with less synthesized stuff, but I’m liking what Kerli has to offer. Her album dropped Love is Dead dropped in 2008, but I had never heard of her until this week. Where have I been? But fun fact, she is the first Estonian to reach the Billboard 200.

So this combination of artists I’m about to rattle off that she reminds me of may rack your brain, but this is what comes to me: Santogold,Muse,Evanescence, Linkin Park and Natasha Beddingfield. She has this innocent voice that can be powerful and strained and the music goes from playful to raspy to a lil hard. It’s a little overwhelming to my ears and brain to process at first, but I like it.

She said she wrote the album in over five years and she was coming out a depression, so I’m pretty sure that’s way there’s such a wide range of emotion going on in this album. Sometimes I feel like I’m in a fairytale and other times I feel like I should be in an dark underground bar with crazy people.

Kui Kerlile teha ettepank sõita Oslosse ja esindada Eurovisioonil Eestit ilma eelneva sõelumiseta ning meie kohalik eelvoor “Eesti laul 2010″ ära jätta, siis miks ta ei peaks nõus olema?

Paljud riigid ei korralda juba ammu eelvoorusid ja saadavad mõne kindla artisti otse Eurovisioonile. Näiteks 2004. aasta Eurovisiooni lauluvõistluse võitja Ruslana ei läbinud eelnevalt Ukrainas eelvooru ja pääses nii otse suurele lavale ning sadade miljonite televaatajateni.

Kerli 2004. aasta eurolaul “Beautiful inside” oli paljude lemmik ja arvan, et toona oleks ta koju toonud palju kõrgema koha kui Neiokõsõ. Rääkisin mais toimunud Eurovisiooni lauluvõistlusel Moskvas sel teemal väga paljude asjatundjate ja fännidega ning kõik kiitsid minu idee heaks. Inimesed teavad ja armastavad Kerlit!

Mulle on ka väidetud, et Kerli on Eurovisioonist ammu välja kasvanud ja lööb laineid juba laias maailmas.  Ma ei tea mis asi on Eurovisioonist välja kasvamine, sest iga aastaga püüdleb sinna aina rohkem ja rohkem artiste ning mõni koguni teist või kolmandat korda.

Kerlile annaks Eurovisioon kindlasti populaarsust juurde ja teeks sinilinnu püüdmise palju kergemaks. Kas mäletate, et just Eurovisioonilt on tuule tiibadesse saanud näiteks Abba, Celine Dion, Toto Cutugno, kolmekordne võitja Johnny Logan, Carola, Dana International jpt.

Eurovisioonist on osa võtnud ka paljud tuntud artistid ja heliloojad nagu Kate Ryan, Tatu, DJ Bobo, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Patricia Kaas, Dita Von Teese jpt.

Kerli on unikaalne ja tal on suurepärane stiil. Arvan, et ta suudaks Eestit väga edukalt esindada! Eesti Rahvusringhääling peaks seda varianti kindlasti kaaluma, sest Eurovisioonist loobumine ei ole lahendus.

Eurovisiooni lauluvõistlus on Euroopa suurim telešõu ja võib väita, et isegi maailma suurim. Kolm šõud (kaks poolfinaali ja finaalvõistlust) vaatab kokku üle 105 miljoni inimese Euroopas ja umbes pool miljardit inimest kogu maailmas. Kusjuures Eurovisiooni kantakse üle ka näiteks Austraalias.

Rumor that Tokio Hotel would be featured on an upcoming movie soundtrack began in October, when songwriter/producer Andreas Carlsson assured the world that his collaboration with the band would be released with a film. Rumors of a collaboration with Estonian AltPop singer Kerli have been swirling for at least as long – and whaddaya know? They will be on a major movie soundtrack very soon!

As confirmed by Disney, the movie is the much-anticipated Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland — if you’ve seen the 3D trailer at an Avatar screening, you know how awesome (and likely huge) this movie is going to be! The TokioHotel/Kerli track is called “Strange.” Other artists on the soundtrack include Robert Smith, Wolfmother, and All Time Low. Available March 2nd- be sure to buy the CD called “Almost Alice,” not to be confused with the Danny Elfman Score already available for preorder.

Can we talk for a moment about how our beloved Gaga has traded in her signature platinum locks for this interesting new look:

Princess Peach? Is that you?

I really can’t decide if I hate it or love it. It’s certainly different from the Gaga we’re used to. It reminds me of a highlighter pen, or maybe a delicious bowl of mac and cheese spirals. The platinum blonde gave Gaga a more sophisticated, fashionable look, while this yellow blonde, I’m afraid to admit, teeters towards the cartoony side.  But like I said, I’m hot and cold about it.

Who?

This new look also recently sparked an Internet feud between someone named Kerli and little Monsters (Gaga fans) when Kerli claimed Gaga stole her hair color. On her website, Kerli made the post: “It’s kinda fucking funny that Lady Gaga ALSO has yellow hair now. I wish she would fucking stop ripping off everything I do. Fucking bitch.” Wow! If she was little known before, the Gaga stans have made sure that Kerli has been made infamous by her words, even if she did hit delete.

Gaga fans, aside from defending or debating her new choice of hairstyles, are wondering about her health. Her body has noticeably changed from her Fame days. Is she adopting a “living to be model thin” mantra, or is touring just taking a natural toll on her body? I just know I’d love to see those beautiful Gaga curves again.

The Queen Kerli went in on the jester Lady Gaga in Neon limelight magazine saying,

“It’s kinda f*cking funny that Lady Gaga ALSO has yellow hair now,” a yellow-haired Kerli said on her Twitter page. “I wish she would f*cking stop ripping off everything I do. F*cking b*tch.”

In the video above the queen recanted on her comments but stilled hold on to her guns.

So this morning I was reading the news and I saw that Lady GaGa also had yellow hair, and I’ve been doing so much to not look anything like her, and I feel like everything I do she’ll do two weeks later. I feel like I’m starting my next album cycle and I’m trying to look different so I wouldn’t get these comparisons, but it’s like every time I do something different and post the picture up on MySpace she’s also looking that way in two weeks time.

No disrespect because the thing she does visually and her styling… and she’s best friends with Alexander McQueen obviously I’m not competing with that, obviously I’m not competing with four number one hits. I’ve never really said anything in a pissed off kind of way because I didn’t wanna be that person who was like a nobody and was like screaming when somebody else was standing on top of the mountain and ruling the world, I’m nobody to talk, but this morning I was like…

I know she knows who I am and I’m good friends with some of the members of her team and it’s just a little much that I’m trying so hard to not look anything like her and she’ll just end up looking like me anyways so I just lost it for a second and called her a bitch and it was really immature of me and I know the world will take it in a completely wrong way because she’s on top and I’m not.

Some of these things I’ve been like “it’s a coincidence it’s a coincidence it’s a coincidence” , and then I’m like “you know what, this is not a coincidence anymore”, and obviously she’s taking her visuals to a next level because she’s got all this money behind her… Her fans come at me like I’m the copycat, I’m just tired and that’s the reason why I said it. Nobody knows who I am and she’s so big and I’ll just come across as some idiot who imagines these things, but me and everybody who’s been watching my career since I started know that I’m right.

Kerli is an artist singned to Def jam and is 100 times better than Lady Gaga. Lady gaga is so overrated and must be taken down a peg. Her music and voice is far more unique and enjoying. I can’t wait until Kerli new album drop she gon shut it down.

All the guys are obsessed with Megan Fox. And if you don’t like Megan Fox you are considered a disgrace to the male gender. So I’m rebelling against it. I have come up with five girls who are prettier than Megan Fox.

Okay so happy Thanksgiving. I didn’t have time to post yesturday. I was at the Thanksgiving football game for my future high school. Next year I will be playing the marching bells in the band! YAY!

I also went out to Charlie Brown’s. It was so awesome. All you can eat turkey mm mm mm…!!!! But I was very stuffed afterwards. I think I am a turkey now. I hope no one eats me.

After Charlie Brown’s we went to my aunt’s house and picked secret santas for Christmas. I’m not telling mine… I also attempted to play the violin and failed. I thought I could be like Jonsu, the lead singer of Indica, one of my favorite bands. I do have a feeling of nostalgia now and I reminisce on how we used to have Turkey Day at my Nana’s house. The atmosphere of the old house – the fireplace, the family sitting together in the living room – it was all so folksy and gave me a warm feeling. Well, there’s always Christmas for that. Lol. Nevertheless, I had an amazing time at my aunt’s house. YO BROWNIES WERE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what am I thankful for?

2. Glee!!!!

3. Kerli because she is one of the most inspirational people ever and I love her voice and she is one of my only celebrity role models.

4. Most importantly, my family and my amazing friends and bffls and bffldatas (best friends for life death and the afterlife) You all inspire me so much and encourage me to pursue my dreams.
