Come ogni anno dopo l’accensione dell’Albero di natale più famoso del mondo si entra nel periodo natalizio. Qui a New York poi è un spettacolo unico, un altro modo per trovarsi in strada con amici, parenti, semplici conoscenti o sconosciuti, accomunati tutti da quella magia che il natale in se porta sempre, attenzione non lo shopping compulsivo o altro, ma quella magica legata alle luci, alle carole di natale, insomma quell’atmosfera ovattata come un vetro opacizzato dall’alito di un bambino nell’intento di veder fuori, che solo il natale porta. Ci sono poche altre feste dove la vera magia arriva di sera, il momento topico in cui l’atmosfera cambia e si scalda, le luci prendono il soppravvento su tutto aiutate dal tintinnio delle campanelle e  dalle carole. E nessun babbo natale appeso alla finestra…

Qui torno bambino, i ricordi volano a quando da piccolo si aspettava il natale, si faceva l’albero, si scriveva la lettera (la mia l’ho imbucata da Macy’s, magari il miracolo sulla 34esima avviene anche per me…), si impazziva per le luci, in tv c’erano delle pubblicità veramente di natale… ora siamo sinceri ma in italia questo manca, si salvano qualche paesino in montagna ma non saprei. Qui è una festa per tutti, mi suonano ancora nelle orecchie le parole di una persona che proprio ieri mi ha detto “in italia il natale è triste, è tutto chiuso…” ecco cosa diamo noi agli stranieri in visita: tristezza.

Uno spettacolo di 2 ore in diretta tv, con ospiti di primo piano (anche loro sotto l’acqua) alcuni dei quali han cantato live: Alicia Keys e Michael Bublè. Non so quanti eravamo ma non ho mai visto tante persone attentere il momento del countdown sotto l’acqua dalle 7 di sera fino alle 9, per vedere accendersi il loro albero. Essere li in mezzo sentirli cantare le canzoni, vederli impazzire per i Muppet, personaggi che solo vecchietti come me possono ricordarsi: Kermit, Miss Piggie, Fozzie, Gonzo e tutti gli altri…

For those of you who know me in real life, you would know that my name is Noah.

For those of you who don’t know me, you might be asking yourself, “Oh damn, he isn’t going to be doing the bible thumping thing is he?”

No, its worse than that!  This is like take out your tinfoil hat and join Heaven’s Gate style LOONY crap.

But first, here is a beautiful picture of a double rainbow taken by my friend Johnathan Zap at the 2009 Rainbow Gathering in New Mexico.

Whenever I tell people about “Rainbow Gatherings” most of them ask, “Wait, that’s that gay thing, isn’t it.”

No, its not “that gay thing.”

Try as I might, I can talk till I’m blue (or maybe indigo or violet) in the face and still  completely fail to properly convey what a rainbow gathering is all about.

At welcomehome.org it is described as the largest non-organization of non-members in the world.

Where does one even begin to clear a statement like that up?

I wonder if some of the confusion may arise from the fact that when I think of rainbows, it calls up a completely different universe of images, sensations, and words in my mind than it does for other people.

To test this, I conducted an informal poll, asking people to list the first ten things that they associate with rainbows.  Don’t worry, the fun’s not over.  You can view the results.  If you have a myspace account, you can even participate!  All ya need to do is move your cursor here and give your mouse a good click!

This is but my first blog in a series that attempts to answer a perplexing question posed by a great thinker/cultural icon of our times; Kermit the Frog.

And that question would be this; “Why are there so many songs about rainbows, and what’s on the other side?”

I’m going to leave you hanging until the next installment to explain the awkward and suspiciously biblical title “Noah’s  ARC.H.I.V.E.”  I may possibly even  reveal when its time to take out the tinfoil hats,  so please give me a holler to let me know that you’re reading.

We can explore Kermit’s important question together, and hopefully go to some exciting and far flung reaches of the Noosphere!

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a national holiday tradition, and has been so for the past 83 years, and this year the tradition continued.

This year, the parade route returns to its roots with it ending at 34th street right in front of the Macy’s store. This is different than it has been in recent years.

 There is a list of performers that include Katharine McPhee, Jane Krakowski, and we have Spiderman, Kermit and Spongebob floating down the parade route. Ziggy Marley, the son of the legendary Reggae singer Bob Marley, performed a song with his daughter on a float decorated as a pirate ship.

 Ziggy performed his new song ”It’s Family Time” while holding his daughter in his arms so she could reach the mike…very cute.

Katharine McPhee, sporting her new sassy blonde ‘do, performed her new single “Had It All.” Jane Krakowski performed a Christmas tune. She may play a ditzy spoiled celeb on “30 Rock,” but in real-life Krakowski is quite the songbird.

Teen superstar Miley Cyrus made an exuberant appearance waving to her throngs of excited fans that lined the parade route waiting patiently for the international superstar. She looked great, in light of the bush crash tragedy that killed her long time tour bus driver this past friday. Today was much happier times for her.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade aired on CBS and NBC at noon ET/9 am PT.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING…NOW GO EAT….

No girl wants to be called a pig but this girl does.  Actually, I would love it if you called me a hog.  Why would I take that as a compliment?  Because one of the best woman ever to grace this earth was a pig herself:  Miss Piggy.

Miss Piggy is the sexiest, sultriest, most lusty woman ever created.  The great thing is she is a teacher because the things I am discovering about myself are all things Miss Piggy stands for.

First of all Miss Piggy ain’t afraid to show off the goods.  She has curves for days and she knows how to go out with a hoggy bang.  It’s all about being comfortable with your own skin. While I don’t have a stick of curves I do appreciate my body for the way it is, even if it is a bit malnourished by black standards, and I am learning to appreciate what I don’t have.  So I don’t have a big butt, maybe there is a reason why and I’m cool with that.

Every time you see Miss Piggy she has her makeup did, she’s wearing her cute clothes, and she’s looking porkalucious.  Miss Piggy doesn’t apologize for looking sexy and I love that! But the thing I love so much is Miss Piggy doesn’t have to be a porkwhore about her sex appeal.  She knows how to gorge it up appropriately and she knows when to give major vamp and voom.  Baby, I’ve got that trick in the bag: there are times when you need to give an understated sexy and then there are times when it needs to be in your face.  If you can own your sexiness then sexiness won’t own you.  Being comfortable with who you are is sexy.  I’m loving it!

The other thing I like about Miss Piggy is she knows how to do the super JUDO CHOP. HIIIIIIIYA.  This is one broad that can defend herself.  How about that:  a karate choppin pig.  But this shows us it’s okay to be able to defend yourself from the pitfalls of life.  Ain’t nobody messin with da piggy and ain’t no one messin with me.   Understand?  Good.  I’m not sayin put a huge wall around yourself but I am sayin when it’s time to protect yourself you don’t have to run to a man to do it; kick butt yourself.

Lastly I love the pigster for being able to love her Kermy.  Maybe the love is a bit unbalanced (Isn’t she always chasing Kermit?) but I adore the way she’s passionate about her frog.  Every woman needs her froggy and every woman needs someone to give their glorious bacon scented love to.  I think Miss Piggy encourages me to realize it’s okay to love, it’s okay to lust, it’s okay to heartache and it’s okay to trust. Have you ever heard Miss Piggy talk about Kermy?  It’s delish!!  And maybe that’s what love is and what love will be.  A delicious, semi non nutritous love affair that is simply gush worthy.

So Miss Piggy aside from teaching me my ABC’s youv’e taught me so much more. I remember brushing my teeth with my Miss Piggy toothbrush and who would have ever thought I would devote an entire blog post to you?  Hell, never not me!

Miss Piggy’s example is so great that I’ve started exploring and releasing the inner me.  The new me “might” be dating and “might” be falling in like…. I would tell you more but that’s top secret dendoo info.

I just realized that this is the day Freddie Mercury died in 1991. I cannot deal with this being my blog tribute to him, so here is a much, much better tribute to him, and the real version of this fabulous song:

I’m fucking obsessed with this. What’s not to love? Puppets? Fucks my shit up. Queen? Freddie Mercury was from Zanzibar, thus awesome.

Hence, I love the Muppets. And Sesame Street, which will be the only TV show my children will be allowed to watch until they’re old enough to understand 30 Rock.

Mere words cannot express how much I love this video. Sesame Street aside, my youth is sadly lacking in fond Muppet memories. That doesn’t diminish the affection I have for Kermit and the gang, and the pure joy of muppetry is abundantly clear in this new video. I recommend going directly to youtube and viewing it in HD.

Little Kermit

Thrift store shopping was so fun the last time I went. Here are some of the things I found. First up I found this cute little kermit key chain. It was in a big bag of miscellaneous toys I bought the bag because I saw a bunch of pokemon toys in it and my brothers are really into pokemon right now, so I thought I would surprise them. My next bag of goodies contained vintage cookie cutters. I was surprised at how good the condition was of all these cutters. I listed a few in my etsy store there was a Raggedy Ann and Andy set a Little Boy and Girl Gingerbread Man Set, and some really cool collection of playing card suit shapes with fluted edges. The ones I decided to keep were assorted sized hearts and flowers, perfect for the up coming holidays. I plan to bake batches of cookies and other treats for my love ones this year.

The next thing I found were Japanese fridge magnets they came with a set of regular letter and number fridge magnets. I’ve been wanting to get some of these fun fridge magnets for my son for some time now and have been having a hard time finding them. I was so stoked to see the Japanese ones thrown in there too like an added bonus. Too bad I don’t know any Japanese.

The last toy I found were these little 1inch cubes with letters in them. They interlock so you can spell out words. All the sides alternate capital and lower case letters. Each block has one letter on it. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I think it’s a teaching tool. What do you think?

Its has been a while, right? Since we last talked i have had a birthday. A good birthday, a bad age. I dont wanna grow up, much more anyway.

Also, my computer blew up.

Well, i say blew up. I think a more accurate description on the incident would be it slowly stopped working, and then wouldnt work at all. There was no flames, no big bangs or scary explosions, as i see i may have led you to belive with the last statement. It was a really sad occasion see, i have had my computer for-EVER! It had my life on it and when it died it dragged all my work, music and shizzle with it. Depressing days indeed. Also, i can see how the word ’shizzle’ in the last sentence could be interpreted as porn, so just know, it does not mean porn.

ANYWAY, my Nanna bought me a new laptop to replace it. And, oh my it is beautiful.

For my birthday i had friends round and we got drunk, i went out with other friends and we got drunk. Nothing much out of the ordinary but i had a bloody good time. Especially with my lovely Tor. We hit up Chinatown as well, best idea ever, and best £8 wasted on a slice of sugar ever. Yes, slice.

Dont get me wrong, i love her, i think she is brilliant… and obviously hot. The new video for Bad Romance is amazing, apart from the one shot where she looks like Winehouse but apart from that she is hot like, 99% of the video.

Tor says it wasnt her in the club, and i can kind of see where she is coming from, i mean why would someone of high class like The Gaga be mixing with such crap as Michaela McQueen from Hollyoaks, who was also there. But she was. Also saw Lily Loveless on a train a couple of days later. She though, was just stalking me, im sure.

(Tor would like me to let you know she loves Michaela McQueen. Not like that! In a “friend” way. Soooo.. in a gay way then?!! ha.)

I am gonna wrap this up because i havent really got anything to entertain you with as all i have been doing is getting stoned and illegally downloading horror films and watching boys play for HOURS on, is it Call of Duty?  I had a go but five seconds in Adam was screaming to me go faster, Matt was laughing that i was gonna get raped and the first person that shot me, killed me. Discovered thats not for me.

I have certainly not been going to uni or doing coursework. I am sorry if i have a life to live. An excuse i have used since school, jolly old south chadd, and still continue to use today. It works so all is good. However i have to go to uni tomorrow, at bloody 9am, as i have a practical lecture. Shit. I also have to see my dissertation tutor as i have a meeting with a dinosaur expert at the museum in Cardiff next week. Double shit. What if i forget the dinosaur names? What if i resort to making dinosaur noises to try and impress him?? What am i gonna wear? Is it gonna be weird if i wear a t-shirt with a Triceratops on, because i have one and i will!! Worst still, i have a 2 foot movable T-rex  model that i am using to illustrate a point and so will be carrying through the streets of Cardiff on the day. It would look less wierd if i rode the bastard.

Ya que comenze con el tema de Boxeo, quiero presentarles un corto listado de los actuales y mas Conocidos Boxeadores Boricuas. De esta manera nos ponemos al tanto y comenzamos a pompearnos para la Gran Pelea de este sabado.

No voy a poner ningun orden logico por ahora, solo quiero que los vayamos conociendo a cada uno, con sus Pros y sus debilidades.

1. Miguel Cotto:

A Junito, ya le dedique una entrada completa en mi Blog asi que sera suficiente por ahora. No quiero desconcentrarlo para que no le vaya mal en la pelea de el sabado en Las Vegas.

2. Carlos “El Indio”  Quintana

El Indio Quintana es un caso muy comun, el boxeador desconocido, que obtiene una oportunidad ante un odiado y se convierte en el favorito sentimental del pueblo.

Carlitos era un Chamaquito abusador en Moca, le daba a sus companeritos pa robarle los limbers y las galletitas bimbo, era medio cerraito y no termino la escuela. Al estar expuesto al boxeo desde nino se pudo desarrollar y salir de la pelaera. Aunque nadie y repito nadie lo conocia, El Indio acumulo varias victorias que lo llevaron a rankearse a nivel mundial. A pesar de no haberle ganado a nadie de envergadura, le dieron la oportunidad de enfrentarse al prospectaso Colombiano Joel Julio, Un Invicto Poderoso Pegador (Que tampoco habia peleado con nadie que valga la pena!) El Indio aprovecho su experiencia como peleador callejero y logro ganar esta pelea, oportunidad de oro para convertirse en un Campeon de verdad.

De la noche a la manana El Indio, paso de ser el peleador mas “Underrated” a el mas “Overrated” que yo personalmente habia visto, esto para su gran Pelea Contra su compatriota Miguel Cotto. Sera por el Odio que la mayoria de los puertorriquenos le tenemos a Cotto, pero de momento las acciones del Indio subieron por las nubes! Lamentablemente paso lo que tuvo que pasar y Cotto por poco lo mata. Mas tarde en otra oportunidad logro arrebatarle el titulo a Paul Williams, Paul Williams ni sabia quien era el Indio y acepto pelear con el por que mas nadie queria, por ser tan aburrido. El Indio capitalizo y se escondio por 12 rounds robandose la victoria, esto para meses mas tarde Paul Williams destrozarlo como debio haber hecho en la primera pelea. Ahora mismo nadie se acuerda ni le importa el Indio.

3. Juan Manuel Lopez

Juanma, el Orgullo de Caguas, este si! Parcelerito, sin Vicios, Humildon, para que represente a los Boricuas de Verdad! Ese es Juanma!

El aun Invicto Pegador boricua, esta entrando a su “Peak” como boxeador, en donde lo esperan peleas millonarias, esto si no hace el ridiculo como por poco hace en su ultima pelea con Rogers Mtagwa, en donde bailo los ultimos dos rounds al ritmo del demonio de “Tanzania”. En estos momentos, Juanma se encuentra en la encrucijada, Pelear con los Mejores del mundo y arriesgarse a que le den una katimba, o seguir peleando con bacalaos y afinarse hasta que este 100% seguro que pueda derrotar a algun rival de “Nombre”.

Personalmente, el dia que Juanma le de una escalpiza a Yuriourkis Gamboa se ganara todos mis respetos y alabanzas… Odio a Gamboa!!!

4. Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon

Caso Similar al de Juanma, Orgullo de Guaynabo City, un Boxeador del Pueblo, Parcelero, sin Vicios y Graciosito, Todo el mundo ama a Ivan Calderon. Sus peleas son entretenidas, su velocidad y habilidad para boxear hacen que este pequenin sea todo un Caballito en el ring. Ivancito se ha enfrentado y derrotado a los mejores peleadores del mundo en su categoria. Vale aclarar que no hay muchos enanos flacos que pesen menos de 110 libras por ahi, pero esto no es culpa de Ivan. En estos momentos su carrera se ha visto un poco opacada por el resultado de sus ultimas peleas, Muchos cabezasos, un empate y par de cancanazos han puesto a Ivan a pensar en su retiro. Creo que aun le quedan par de peleas en donde pudiese consagrarse como el mejor peleador boricua de todos los tiempos.

4. Kermit “La Nena” Cintron

Kermit, Voy a ser bien Honesto: Eras mi boxeador favorito, mi esperanza, quien iba a matar y dominar la division welter, quien iba a destruir a Cotto a De la Hoya a Mosley a Tito y a cuanto Boxeador se metiera en tu camino. Ahora te Odio! Por Lloron!!!

Que paso: Margarito te destrozo entiendo que fue tu error, tratar de enfrentarte a un muy buen peleador justo despues de una operacion, debiste tomarte tu tiempo y venir contra el a un 100%. Te di break, hiciste bien, te dedicaste, peleaste con cuanto chata te pusieron en medio preparandote para una venganza contra Margarito, Bueno menos Jesse Feliciano quien te hizo sudar y nunca se te quito de la cara. Por fin se te dio el Chance, la gran Noche la deseada venganza contra Margarito, TOMA! De pasta y queso te humillo, te destruyo, y volviste a llorar como una nena… OK admitelo, es mejor que tu! No! Tan Pronto salio a la luz publica que Margarito habia usado Yeso contra Mosley, Mandaste a tus abogados a investigar tus dos derrotas porque y que el uso Yeso contigo! Por si no lo sabias el Yeso no impide que tu le pudieses pegar a Margarito tambien. Lloron OK, no hay problema otro chance contra un medio bacalao ahi… Sergio Martinez… y pues…

Sergio Martinez te dio una salsa, te gano dos veces, te Knockeo en el 7mo y despues te gano comoda la pelea por decision, esos jueces son unos mamaos y no se cuanto les pagaste. Despues canto de caripelao peleas porque y que te robaron la pelea y despues te jactas que Sergio Martinez es el mejor peleador de las 154 lbs!! Clase de Moron!! Acaso no sabias que Kelly Pavlik, Flelix Sturm, Paul Williams, James Kirkland, Cory Spinks, etc etc etc estan en ese peso? Estoy Loco que venga Daniel Santos y te explote!  Hablando de Caballetes…

5. Daniel Santos

Daniel Santos, medallista Olimpico y Orgullo de Bayamon Puerto Rico, criticado por muchos por ser vago y no dedicarse al boxeo. Lo que la gente no avanza a darse cuenta, es que nadie quiere enfrentarse a un caballote como Santos, Danny ha tenido que ir a los confines mas inabitables del mundo para poder conseguir peleas, y su record dice que es practicamente invencible, teniendo solo dos derrotas (robadas) una en Alemania contra Ahkmed Kotiev, que luego Danny la vengo con un impresionante Knockout (Tambien en Alemania) y otra contra Sergiy Dzinziruk, tambien en Alemania para variar.

De su primera derrota, contra Kofi Jantuah, no quiero hablar por que Kofi, al Igual que Danny es una bestia peluda a la que nadie se quiere enfrentar. Y quien no me cree que busque los videitos de Kofi en Youtube…

Danny es un Boxeador nato, Zurdo, con solida pegada y pueblerino, se da las medallas en la lomita en Bayamon cuando no esta entrenando, pero cuando le mete a los dumbbells, no hay quien lo detenga, desde ya les digo que sera la unica sonrisa boricua el sabado en la noche…

6. Tito!

Gloria Boricua, para muchos el Mejor Boxeador del Mundo y del universo. Tito, quien no sabia boxear pero daba duro con cojones. Tito quien se enfrento y derroto a todos los que le pusieron en el medio, Buenos, mediocres y malos. Tito, persona que ha sido responsable de resuitar los parties de marquesina. Tito,  quien le dio vida a los Rent a centers, donde se agotaban las pantallas gigantes cada vez que habia pelea. Tito, quien cerraba urbanizaciones donde llevaban proyectores, orquestas y toda la comunidad celebraba todas y cada una de las victorias del orgullo de Caimito. Todo hasta que, Llego el Verdugo, Hopkings, odiado por todos los boricuas por insultar la bandera, Hopkins se encargo de humillar a la isla, y bajar de la nube al idolo que todos teniamos. Los Ninos lloraron, las fiestas se acabaron, las ventas de los jugos Tito’s Punch se desvanecieron, Grupo mania se rompio… Todo gracias a Bernnard Hopkins.

Tito, penso en su futuro y decidio retirarse del boxeo, sabia decision… Pero Volvio…. Esta vez muy “stylish” Le alisaron el afro cosa que le quito mucho tiempo de su entrenamiento, se vistio con shorcitos Putin para verse como todo un sex symbol. Pero,  Le volvieron a humillar, esta vez Winky Wright  en una Pelea que si Tito se tiraba al piso y perdia por “KO” pasaba menos verguenza que dejando que leyeran la decision de los Jueces, Yo la vi Chiva…

Tito, penso en su futuro y decidio retirarse del Boxeo, sabia decision… Pero volvio esta vez solo por dinero y reconocimiento, el pasaba por la calle y ya nadie lo reconocia, la dieta de carne frita, mofongo, empanadillas y coco rico no le estaba ayudando. Roy Jones, Si, la Viejaca, Le dio una Tunda…

En estos momentos, Tito esta 98.5% retirado (WTF!) a la espera de una pelea multi millonaria por que el aun es una estrella. Desaprovecho miles oportunidades de revanchas con De la Hoya, Hopkins etc. solo por que el queria ganar mas dinero que su rival.
