Probably the best piece of information i have found since using Photoshop CS4, besides for a few great tutorials, is the shortcut list for tools. I found a few of them myself, just out of frustration (who would have thought that “Z” was for Zoom!) – but the rest are a little different, i.e: “O” for the Burn tool. Click ‘more’ for the full list, taken straight from Adobe!

I love bags, i think most women do! My bag of late has been a simple leather across the shoulder bag, home to my mobile phone, keys, some loose change and a  few notes, visa card, a pen, tissues, a generous layer of cookie crumbs and a bunch of receipts which have seen better days. I use this bag because it’s convenient, when my mobile rings I am not hunting through my tote bag while keeping an eye on the children and the same goes for when i need to pay for something or write something down in a hurry. Wipes, nappies, spare change of clothes, drinks/snacks are usually kept in the basket of the stroller, a lot less burdensome than the massive ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ bag.

Without checking the actual contents of your bag could you in all honesty empty the contents out, snap a pic and write about them. And what does your bag say about you?!

I came across a lesson today about hope. Many times we find it difficult to hope in certain situations, or sometimes we need some motivation to press forward and maintain hope. Whatever the situation, we must make a decision to hope. It doesn’t happen automatically. Here are 3 keys to maintaining hope.

First, Reject Your Fears. It all starts with the mind. You must not live according to what you see currently, you must believe in what soon will be. Don’t be afraid of whatever situation or uncertainty may face you. Make a decision to reject fear and step out on faith. People will question how you can stay positive despite things looking bleak; you should always be ready with an answer as to why you are able to remain hopeful. That way, not only do you inspire them; you prevent their doubt from distracting you from pressing forward. It is better to suffer because you are working towards a goal than to suffer because you chose to settle for your circumstances.

Second, Redefine Abundance. What does success mean to you? Don’t compare yourself or your progress with others. Every person is different, and each person has their own definition of success and their own ideas of what drives them. You need to know what drives you. What is your motivation? What is important to you? Once you figure that out, then use that information to drive and measure your progress. If you do, then you will appreciate each step a little more because you know what your objectives are.

Finally, Renew Your Commitment to Your Goal. Remember when you first began? Remember the passion you had? Remember the commitment you made to never give up? Revisit that moment. Regain that passion and desire to achieve. Soon you will find your hope renewed and your tenacity refreshed.

Don´t know what it is, but Mexican locks to hotel rooms have us beat. So ended up leaving it unlocked this morning….wasn´t worth the aggro.
Tomorrow should be interesting. Signed up for snorkelling in a cenote. As I have an unbridled fear of drowning and confined spaces, I believe that if I can successfully enter an underwater cave (where headlights are necessary) then I can do just about anything.
Can´t help but notice the school children here; immaculate uniforms imcluding shoes, not a runner to be seen.
Tonight might inyroduce Lucas to pina colasas. Introduced him to margaritas at the Playa del Carmen and the result was sort of unfortunate – for me not him.

After a few weeks of holding my breath, yesterday I was handed the key to our building! (exhales) Now, I’ve got to get insurance,utilities of various types,and of course nearly everything else that will be needed. I’ve put up an add on Craigslist of Southeast Missouri soliciting donations of office furniture,partitions,and used carpeting. My partner and I are planning to talk with some of the local ministers to let them know what we’re trying to get going,we definitely could use some help! Our mission is to bless as many people as possible with the services we plan to offer, but I think that it’s going to be just as much of a blessing to those who decide to help us. I’ve inquired around at a few of the local help agencies and apparently there isn’t any sort of open drug or alcohol abuse support group meetings currently being held anywhere. It occurred to me what a great opportunity it would be for us to pursue, and also for many people in the church to act as mentors! The one “saying” that’s been going through my mind is…

In the last fifty years or so the church has lost so much precious ground! I don’t feel like there’s anyone who doesn’t know that! I also know that church’s do lots of great work in this country and all over the world but unfortunately here in the United States they’re perceived by many as hypocritical and judgmental.  So much of the work done by church’s happens outside the country while the spiritual needs of our own go unmet.  Sure, we have sanctuaries everywhere but I’m afraid we’re following in the footsteps of Europe where the majority of the church’s are empty, empty because they had a “high on the mountaintop” attitude,because they tried to keep Jesus all to themselves and away from the masses,because in the end, despite the gilded rituals and dry dogma they really didn’t have much left to offer anyway.

The Dead Sea

It reminds me of the Jordan river, it flows from the sea of Galilee which is full of life into the Dead sea that isn’t,because it’s incredibly salty and there’s no outlet. The Spirit of The Lord is like electricity, it won’t flow through a connection that’s not connected, or through a people who won’t reach out for those whom The Father loves and wants so desperately to reach.

Like many of you I’ve felt overwhelmed by the size of the powers and principalities that we’re at war against. Of all the weapons that have been formed against me personally in my life, I feel that the one’s that have done the most damage are hopelessness and discouragement. I found these verses in 2 Kings that have given me hope and encouragement, and emboldened me to walk even more so in faith…

¹⁵And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

¹⁶And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

¹⁷And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Elisha wasn’t alone or outnumbered,and neither are we! When we come together as the body of Christ it’s no contest!

And that’s definitely what it’s all about, reaching people for Christ! Introducing the people of a fallen world to a risen Savior! Through the compassion and understanding we can express through this ministry we know the victory has already been won, that hearts can be touched and strongholds of the enemy can be brought down.

Alicia Keys held a benefit concert last night(Dec 1) in support of World Aids Day at the Nokia Theater in NYC. All the proceeds from the concert were donated to “Keep A Child Alive”, Jay even showed up peep the flicks.….

These live broadcasts on YouTube are the next big thing in bringing in viewers and money back into the music industry. We don’t watch TV anymore guys!!! Nothing like a charity concert by Ms. Keys on World AIDS Day to showcase the viral value of a YouTube concert. Viral value was a bad pun, but you know what I mean, if the industry wants to make money off the next generation, you have to go to their rooms and speak to THEM! In this case the room is YouTube, and they’re waiting.

I picked up the keys at 10:00 this morning, after signing all the paperwork and receiving the inventory to go over – and, of course, handing over the money!  That’s the fastest I’ve spent nearly £1,000 in a long time!

After leaving the estate agent’s office, I headed over to a nearby Argos and bought myself a new stainless steel electric kettle!  I doubt that D is taking the one we have, but I’m not either.  It’s old and not in the best working order.

Nothing else for it, then, but to try out the key.  It worked!  My first impression of the apartment – I’d forgot how small it was!!  But, I stayed for about 1/2 an hour just trying to get an idea of what I actually needed to do first.  Clean is what it looked like!  It really seemed dusty, more than dirty, and there were lots of dead flies in the bedroom!  I’d thought about sleeping there tomorrow night but have decided against it.  The loft hatch is open and I don’t think I can get it closed – I can get the ladder up into it, but to close it, I need a chair, and I don’t have one over there yet.  Sleeping in the room with it open feels scary somehow.

After my look around, I caught another bus to one of the local shops and spent a bunch of money on cleaning supplies and laundry detergent, dropped it off at the flat and came back to the house for lunch and a couple of boxes of stuff.  When I get back to the flat, I started cleaning in the kitchen.  Aside from the fact that the mixer tap is loose, I was quite impressed with how much room there is in such a small space!  The fridge is almost too tall for me – freezer on the bottom is big too.  I have more drawer space and cupboard space than I’ve ever had, the oven, although I haven’t figured out how to turn it on, is nicer than any I’ve ever owned, and all the gas burners work on the hob!!!  Haven’t seen one like that in about 15 years!    When I was done, everything was quite shiny.

It makes up for the rest of the flat.

The bathroom is ok, just another typical bathroom at the top of the stairs with the stairhead intruding into it…no storage space, cracked tiles here and there, poor paint job but otherwise ok.

The living room is going to take some creativity to furnish.  I want to put a dining table as well as a sofa and chair in there, not to mention a bookcase and an occasional table or one…It’s going to be interesting!  But, I have my eye on a gateleg (or butterfly) table that seats four, has ‘onboard’ storage for the chairs and takes up very little room – just might work.  And a futon instead of a sofa would probably also work perfectly.  Anyone up for a slumber party?  There are disappointing things about the living room, though.  Hidden away on the front wall with all the cable and telephone wires is a ‘airbrick’ type of ventilation cover that doesn’t fit right – I noticed it today because I could see daylight…yep, there’s a hole in the wall.  Plus, the living room window is a multi-paned bow window.  Only two of the panes are meant to open, but one of them is actually open and won’t quite close – seems to be warped.  Plus, by the time, I’d figured out how to turn the central heating on – all the radiators except for the one in the living room were nice and warm.  If Jeff can’t figure it out on Thursday, will add to my list of things to report to the estate agents.

The bedroom is actually the most disappointing room of all.  But, it’ll work.  The carpet looks like it’s been pieced together, it has an ugly built in wardrobe, and the outlets and radiator are in the wrong places so there really is only one choice on where to put the bed.  (Oh, well, I’ve been so indecisive lately…)

The loft space above the bedroom is actually over the bedroom and living room.  It’s carpeted and has a light!  But as far as I can see, it’s good for nothing but storage, which is fine – a good place for suitcases and Christmas decorations, etc.

By the time I left this evening, there were canned and boxed goods in the cupboards, silverware in the drawer and the kitchen was starting to look like someone lived there.  I was happy with that…and I’m sure once I get the rest organised, it will be just fine!

I’m trying to explore different visual languages for the Keys You Trust Brand Book. Read more about my KYT idea here. These spreads are the ones I did over the weekend workshop, but looking at them now, they feel too generic and sterile. I tried to counter-balance the sparseness with personal stories of people’s keys through their own words. After I took a few photos of people’s keys in studio, I asked them different questions like, “what key is most important? which one is the most interesting?” etc. I used their quotes as captions to each keychain—a mini-story in every set. My idea is to have the majority of the book be real keys and real quotes from everyone in studio to reiterate how our keys are much more than just pieces of metal we lug around 24/7. They’re important to us, and they should be treated accordingly.

I really like the variety of voices in all the quotes, but it’s not visually engaging enough. I’m going to shoot for 3 distinctly different visual directions to try in the next week. I’ve also found some inspiration for the actual key blanks. I’d like them to be one color on the exterior and a different contrasting color on the interior taking my first set of inspiration from the Le Creuset cookware.

I love the color palette of Le Creuset pots and pans, and I associate quality , family and authentic care and craft with the brand. I think having keys in the colors similar to the ones pictured would be a good start.

So this week Alicia Keys and Rihanna both made special guest performances on X-Factor. Both did a great job on there performances but Alicia hit us with a crazy medley, X-Factor is always a great platform!
