A rumour is making waves around in the B-town. It conveys the tragic end of another amicable relationship. After SRK and Salman broke off for a second time, this could be a true buzz too. The characters in this new story are Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

It is heard that Salman has vowed never to work again with Sanjay who was instrumental in giving the star two of his most memorable films. Remember!!!…Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Khamoshi . Apparently, Salman doesn’t remember anything and got angry with Mr.Bhansali after he decided to rope in Hrithik for a remake of the Hollywood film ‘The Prestige’.

The event unfolded somehow like this.

Salman got hooked up after catching up the foreign film ‘The Prestige’ and asked Sanjay whether it would be possible for him to make another movie with the same subject. The director got interested and gave a positive response to the first muscle man of B-town. This happened some months back and recently when Salman was conversing with Hrithik Roshan, he received the most unexpected information.

Hrithik told him that Mr.Bhansali had approached him for a movie based on a subject similar to what was shown. That was enough for Salman to loose temper. He had always thought that Sanjay will make the movie with him as he gave him the idea first. “The Prestige” directed by Christopher Nolan came out in 2006 and told the story of two magicians played by Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. The intense professional rivalry between magicians and the dangerous extent to which they can go to do the most enchanting and puzzling
tricks formed the core of the film.

Well…Sallu why lose heart, may be you might end up being the other hero in the film.

I have mentioned earlier that there are bollywood songs for different peiods of the day. I have mostly dwelt upon late night songs which I call “chaayaget” songs in honour of Vividh Bharati programme of that name. But what about evening songs ?

Well, when it comes to evening songs, I am readily reminded of a couple of Kishore Kumar songs from late 1960s, and both were picturised on Rajesh Khanna. One was from “Kati Patang” that went “ye shaam mastani, madhosh kiye jaay”. What a song. I just realied that I have yet to post this song in my blog. What an omission ! I will address this lapse soon.

The second “shaam” song, which is equally wonderful, is the one that I am posting now. “wo shaaam kuch ajeeb thi” from “Khamoshi” is a superb song. I have already posted two outstanding songs from this movie sung by two other singers and this song sung by Kishore Kumar shows that “Khamoshi” was a musical blockbuster. And one cannot praise its music director (Hemant Kumar) and lyricist (Gulzar) high enough.

I am still amazed how one movie can have as many as three outstanding songs sung by three different songs. It is just mind boggling.

This superb movie called “Khamoshi” not only had a good story line and good actors, it had good music as well. Hemant Kumar’s music and Gulzar’s lyrics were just out of this world.

There were three songs from this movie that became very popular. One of them, “hamne dekhi hai un aankhon me mahakti khushboo” has already been posted in this blog.

The song that is regarded the highest among all the songs of this movie was a song sung by Hemant Kumar himself, though. This song “Tum pukaar lo” had critics raving about it, and this song is still talked of very highly by knowledgeable music lovers.

“Khamoshi” (1969) was a superb movie, and it earned rave reviews when it was released. It was a labour of love for the director Asit Sen (not the comedian Asit Sen but a different person) and it was a remake of his own bangla movie called “deep jwele jaaye” (1959).

Too bad that people have forgotten this movie, which deserved much better audience. The songs of this movie were outstanding as well. Hemant Kumar’s music and Gulzar’s lyrics just cannot be praised enough.

Just listen to this song “humne dekhi hai un aankhon ki mahakti khushboo”. I have no words to praise this song sung by Lata. The voice, the lyrics, the music, everything is outstanding.

The picturisation show a pretty lady singing this song live from a radio station. I have no idea who she is. I thought she looked like Hema Malini, but it is a different person. Can anyone help identify her ?
