If you don’t know what defines urban skateboarding “Swag” then you must not know about DGK short for Dirty Ghetto Kids. They have an almost constant update on the hottest in T’s, skate boards, killer sateboarding sessions, the flyyest of Kicks, and soooo much more. Look at the amount of talent they have acquired in this session with their boyz Kalis and Stevie.

Death is a very real part of life, and for a lot of people it’s very scary.  It also makes us very sad.  It brings up many questions.

Why do animals and people die?

How long does being dead last?

Does God want people to die?

Will I die some day?

Where is Heaven?

How can we go to Heaven if we are buried in the ground?

Will my mom still be my mom in Heaven?

These are very hard, scary and sad questions, and it’s ok to cry when someone we love dies.

When God created the world He made everything perfect, but when Adam and Eve decided to disobey God the world was no longer perfect.  Ever since then every man, woman, plant and animal that lives eventually dies.  But God doesn’t want His people to be dead forever, He sent Jesus to pay for every wrong thing we’ve ever done.  But Jesus was different from any other man, He never disobeyed God and His death was different because He came back to life after three days!

But a person is more than a body, the inside is the “real me” that’s called the soul.  When we die our soul goes to Heaven to be with Jesus.  Jesus has prepared us a place in Heaven when we die.  Philippians 1:21-23

In Heaven there will be no more pain,  sadness, tears or sickness.  Because Jesus came to earth and dies and came back to life, we can live forever in Heaven with Him, and forever doesn’t ever end.  1 Corinthians 15, John 14:1-19

We do not know where Heaven is or what it will be like, but we know that is will be to awesome for us to understand.  I love to sit and dream about what Heaven will be like.  Try to think of the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen, close your eyes and imagine it, now open them because Heaven will be so much more beautiful.  1 Corinthians 2:9, Revelation 21

This summer the kidz came up with a really fun way to share their Living Water -Jesus! We put together a Jesus Aid commercial that the children wrote & produced all on their own. It was really fun & so cute!

Unfortunately their lame leader is still having trouble loading it!  I promise I will figure out a way soon, so stay tuned!

The kidz were so jazzed about this that we are considering starting our own web show called i-Jesus ! Look for it this Fall

Teenagers are not what they used to be. When I grew up if you had a Super Nintendo, or N64 you were the king of all your friends, everyone would beg you to come over to your house just for the chance to watch anyone play a video game. As time progressed, and technology became increasingly more advanced, video games moved from the stuff legends were made of, to an everyday thing. Nowadays almost every child owns and Xbox, a Wii, a PS3, or has a personal computer. Not to say that theres anything wrong with that, I think its awesome that people are exposed to that level of technology at such a young age. And if exposed to it properly such an early introduction to advanced technology could mean endless possibilities for the childs future. unfortunately, most kids are not “exposed to it properly”. For the most part, the kids getting exposed know more than the people exposing them. But this article isnt going to be about parenting, and how most people are not the best at it, but instead, lets focus on the kids, because kids say the darndest things.

Just as an example, please take a look at this screenshot of a conversation I had with a very rude player who was recruiting a “fur geared Paladin” for 3v3.

Oh that silly Vexd. As im sure you may have clued in, I do know what he was talking about, but I enjoy instigating. Its a pet peeve I suppose. I cant understand where along the line people got so lazy that they no longer wanted to put forward the small amount of effort it takes to type a word like furious, or you. And why, as soon as I whispered him, did he become defensive. I was not insulting, or demeaning in any way. For all he knew I might not have actually known what he mean by “fur”. Any normal person would respond with someone like “I mean furious, not fur”. And I would have said something along the lines of “I know, I was just testing to see wether or not you would immediately get defensive. Congratulations you passed, A+!” And that persons day would be better for it, at least I like to think so. But Vexd chose to follow the path more frequently travelled (at least it seems). The best response he could think of was “fur stands for furious noob”. First of all, no it doesnt. And second of all, you hurt my feelings (not really). World of Warcraft isnt the only place we see kids with this sort of attitude, in fact I think its seen the least in games like World of Warcraft. As much as you may disagree, World of Warcraft players tend to be what you call “nerds” because the game is less socially acceptable than games like Halo 3, or Call of Duty 4. Because killing humans and Aliens is a lot cooler than killing orcs and trolls. Anyways, we tend to see these “standofish” kids more commonly on Xbox Live in games like Call of Duty or Halo 3. I cant tell you how many times ive been “raped” or “pwned” by a twelve year old (not literally).

The truth is, being a kid is hard nowadays. As a kid the only real pressure I had to worry about was atmospheric. Now kids all around the world are bombarded with advertisements, and struggle every day to fit in. Social pressure, peer pressure, and parental pressure are an every-day occurrence. Its not a complete surprise that the kids smart enough to try and escape from real life by playing a video game are a bit overly aggressive.

One of the first things that most people notice about me is that I am not ‘one of da Posse’, indeed I find the whole idea and theory of being down wiv da kidz utterly mystifying. The only time I will ever use ‘newspeak’ is in mockery of others, perhaps not the use for which it was originally intended. It truly fascinates me to hear some of the ‘yoof’ of today speak, I find it utterly confusing as they talk about ‘ragging it’ and the day being cheerful, i.e. ‘Happy Days’. This, for me is the crux of the matter. It is not easy to keep up with the ever changing face of the modern language, as used by the modern ‘kidz’. New phrases are introduced, seemingly every day, and trying to keep up with these phrases is something that I have never felt able to do. As a seventeen year old, perhaps I should try to learn this new tongue, to be better able to understand my fellow youngsters, however I do not feel that this will help me. If this is the speech of the next generation, then I dread to think how the politicians of my generation will speak. Public speeches should be quite amusing then.

I believe that the best summaries of newspeak have been given by the Little Britain team, and Catherine Tate, with their fine comic characters of Vicky Pollard and Lauren Cooper, considered by some individuals to overextend the problem. Unfortunately, I have heard people replicate their catchphrases, and not even in jest. It’s a great pity really. But absolutely bloody hilarious to listen to. I leave you with one final thought. Wen ure gettn down wiv your homie dogs, don’t forget, wen ure ragging it, be safe man, big up the keds and jst say no.

Sad to see an indigenous Irish company in difficulty, such as O’Briens’s Sandwich Bars. This shot was featured on their 2008 postcard range and I was surprised to find out that they were present in places such as Saudi Arabia and Malaysia and other exotic spots. Here’s hoping things improve.
