En junio se puso a la venta “Kaiku“, el segundo album de Kiki, productor finlandés afincado en Berlín y habitual del sello BPitch Control al que seguro que recordaréis por hits llenapistas como “Luv sikk” y por sus sesiones como DJ.
Kaiku es un buen LP del que se ha lanzado como maxi y con video incluido: “Good voodoo“, un track techno-house muy deep, con un bajo muy pegadizo y la voz de Chela Simone.
Ahora le toca el turno a “Immortal“, otro de los tres temas del album que incluyen voz. En esta ocasión la encargada es Pirica. Es la referencia 196 de BPitch Control.

… heißt nicht wirklich was, oder man muss besser italienisch sprechen, um dem Sinn auf die Spur zu kommen. Ist am Ende auch egal, denn in der gleichnamigen Bar, München, Türkenstraße 61, erfährt man ganz andere Dinge, so nebenbei, bei Proprietario Martin. Dass seine Freundin Kiki, die in der Schulstraße eine Cafe-Bar betreibt und immer mal wieder originelle Geburtstagsfeiern ausrichtete, eigene und von Freunden, jetzt in Indien lebt, wenigstens phasenweise, zum Beispiel. Eine einzige Reise kann alles verändern. Umwerfend. Schon das Kopfkino zu der Story ist ein Kassenschlager, man muss noch nicht mal Details kennen. Und was trinkst du da? fragt man den Barista, den man sonst nur mit Espressotasse sah und der heute, gänzlich ungewohnt, aus einem dampfenden Glas zartgelb gefärbte, dezent trübe, intensiv duftende Brühe schlürft. Frischen Ingwer, klärt er auf, grob zu zähem Saft zerstößelt, mindestens zwei Teelöffel davon. Das Ganze mit kochendem Wasser aufgegossen, eine halbe Limette darin zerdrückt und ein Esslöffel Honig dazu, empfiehlt er, macht herrlich warm von innen und außen.

A few years ago, a dear friend made me watch Shaye St. John’s ‘Broken Neck Doll’ video on Youtube. I was horrified. After I recovered from the sight of Shaye, bandaged and disheveled and announcing her medication requirements in a sped-up, helium inflected voice, I demanded to see it again. And again. Since that fateful night I’ve spent countless hours watching Shaye’s grainy, low budget videos, or ‘triggers,’ laughing, screaming, and wondering who unleashed this prescription powered psychopath on us.

While the origins of Shaye may be as murky as the details of Daft Punk’s true identities, there’s no denying the terrible beauty of Shaye herself. Her Old Hollywood glamour ruined by a tragic car accident (or so the myth goes), her arms and legs have been replaced by puppet marionette limbs that mysteriously function without any strings. Sometimes she wheels herself around in a wheelchair, other times she walks around in a caftan and matching headscarf, dramatically waving her doll hands and tossing her curly brown hair. I always found her face to be the most disturbing sight of all, sometimes bandaged, sometimes covered in a generic facemask cut apart at the jaw for easier movement. There’s something about the sight of a real mouth topped with dead plastic eyes that really spooked me.

Shaye plays with burnt baby-dolls, rummages in garbage heaps , goes on the Internet 24/7 and indulges in wire therapy because, well, that’s what Shaye does. Some of the videos have a narrative arc but mostly they’re vignettes of a deranged nature, full of dated, repetitive visual graphics and Shaye’s high pitched ramblings. In terms of it’s absurdity and total illogical point of view, the only thing that even comes close are some of the more random hypercolored cutscenes in the free-associative cult Adult Swim show, ‘Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!’

Shaye’s website, is not for the faint of heart but worth exploring. If you’re really daring, get his Triggers DVD . It’a funhouse mirror of a compilation that’s almost impossible to navigate, so just close your eyes, pick a trigger and let Shaye tell you all about her friends.

Do lado de fora do hotel em que Kristen Stewart e Taylor Lautner participavam de uma coletiva de imprensa para divulgar “Lua Nova”, o clima era de histeria. Centenas de fãs se aglomeravam debaixo do sol para tentar ver, nem que fosse de relance, os dois atores americanos. O auge da loucura aconteceu um pouco antes do fim da entrevista, quando as garotas conseguiram furar o bloqueio da segurança e invadiram a àrea externa do hotel. Seguranças tiveram de lacrar as portas e a polícia foi chamada para conter o tumulto.

A gritaria era geral quando qualquer vulto se aproximava de uma das janelas do hotel de luxo – mesmo quando não eram os atores dando o ar de sua graça. Muitos fãs vieram de fora de São Paulo. Outros, dormiram do lado de fora do hotel. Poucos conseguiram de fato ver os astros.

Um grupo de cinco garotas de Bauru estava no local desde as 8h da manhã (a coletiva começou por volta do meio dia). Uma delas diz que acredita ter visto Kristen Stewart. “Ela apareceu no vidro e deu um tchau”, afirma. Enquanto as meninas tentavam tirar fotos e já estavam ficando sem voz, os pais esperavam debaixo de uma sombra.

Até os pais estavam no meio da confusão ao lado dos filhos. Uma menina conta que foi o “destino” que a levou à porta do hotel neste domingo. “Eu sou de Presidente Prudente e já viria a São Paulo no feriado. Quando eu descobri que o Taylor estaria aqui, implorei muito para os meus pais me trazerem”, conta. Enquanto isso, pai e mãe também se divertiam e tentavam enxergar alguma coisa dentro do hotel.

No meio de tantas garotas, um rapaz chamava a atenção. Ele estava lá para acompanhar a namorada. “A gente veio aqui ontem também, tentando tirar uma casquinha dos atores, né? Algumas pessoas foram para a porta de trás e conseguiram ver os dois quando eles saíram pra jantar ontem, mas a gente não viu nada”, ele disse, frisando que quem é fã é a sua namorada.

Kristen Stewart e Taylor Lautner chegaram a São Paulo na manhã de sábado, criando alvoroço no aeroporto de Cumbica. Os dois astros de “Crepúsculo” participaram de uma coletiva de imprensa na tarde deste domingo, 1º, e agora seguem para o México. A viagem faz parte da promoção do filme “Lua Nova”, que estreia em 20 de novembro.

Durante a entrevista coletiva de Taylor Lautner e Kristen Stewart no Grand Hyatt, em São Paulo, no domingo (1), os fãs deram trabalho para a polícia. Admiradores da saga “Crepúsculo”, que aguardavam um aceno dos atores, romperam a barreira de segurança e conseguiram chegar à entrada do hotel.

Os seguranças do local chamaram os policiais, que ajudaram a fazer com que os admiradores voltassem ao lugar estabelecido. Três carros da polícia permaneciam por lá depois da confusão.

(Continued from last week)—I won’t reveal too much this week…

Nikki whispered in my ear that she was crushing on me.  So I gave her that “Bitch you must be crazy” look.  She is as bold as they come.  She’s my girl’s best friend.  This should not be happening.  What makes it even worse is that she didn’t keep this to herself.  I am completely off-limits to her.  Even if I was single I still wouldn’t have been interested in her.  I was at a loss for words, so I just shook my head then walked off.  I have now been put in an awkward situation.  I wasn’t sure how to handle it.  I wanted to leave and go home.  Nikki came over to me and grabbed me by my arm.  Now at this point, I was becoming angry.  I almost called her out of her name when she abruptly grabbed my arm.  I asked her what did she want.  She then told me not to tell DeDe what she said to me.  She said she just wanted me to know how she felt, but she didn’t want DeDe to know because she knew that it would cause problems.  I actually wanted to slap her for that.  I literally had to hold myself back from letting loose on her.  I don’t like to cause physical scenes, so I held myself back to the best of my ability.  This shit really made me mad.  Everything would have been okay if she would have just kept this crush admission to herself.  There was no need for her to tell me.  Some things are better left unsaid, and this was definitely one of them.

So after she told me not to reveal this information to DeDe, I again walked off.  I’m thinking to myself that I definitely have to let DeDe know what Nikki just said to me.  I felt if I didn’t say anything, it was gonna kick my ass inside.  I knew I wouldn’t be able to hold it in for long, but I made sure that I didn’t say anything to DeDe about it until we left.  Later that night when I got home, DeDe called me.  I wasn’t as talkative on the phone with her as I usually am.  She noticed it.  She asked me if anything was wrong.  So I began to tell her about what Nikki said to me.  She got quiet for a few seconds, then said “Oh my God..you lying”?!  I told her before how I was already uncomfortable with the way Nikki had been playing with me.  I even expressed to her how she took the way Nikki was playing with me so lightly.  I just felt that was abnormal.  I told her I can no longer be around Nikki anymore and that she probably shouldn’t deal with her anymore.  She told me she was about to call Nikki, then she would call me back.  Fuck that.  I told her I wanted to hear the conversation.  I told her either I can just put the phone on mute while you talk to her, or all three of us can talk about it.  So she called Nikki on three-way so we all could talk.

When Nikki answered the phone, she told her that she needed to ask her something.  So she asked her.  This bitch sat right there on that phone and lied through her damn teeth.  She said I was lying on her!  I blurted out, “Bitch, what the fuck”?!  She was surprised to hear that I was on the phone as well.  Then she started getting loud with me asking me why was I lying on her.  Now I’m really upset.  I already hate for people to lie to me, but to lie ON me is taking it even further.  So now we’re both arguing.  I can hear DeDe trying to stop us, but I didn’t want to hush until I finished saying what all I needed to say…even though I knew this heffa probably couldn’t hear anything I was saying over her loud ass talking.  This telephone argument obviously wasn’t going to get us anywhere, but I’m so mad, I don’t even care.  She got called every name under the sun but the child of God.  And you already know I went straight to the armpits.  I talked about her musty ass so bad, she actually got quiet.  All of this could have been avoided if she would have just owned up to what she said to me.  She must have really thought that I wasn’t going to say anything to my girl about this.  There are just certain secrets that I refuse to keep.  She should have known that I was going to reveal this, but to say that I’m lying is going too far.  Why in the hell would I lie about something like this?  Then she said the unthinkable, which set me off even more…

As Dave and I sat down on the couch to do some work on our computers the other night, our cat, Kiki, sauntered over, jumped up onto the couch, and proceeded to curl up *on* Dave’s computer, which was on his lap. She didn’t hesitate – not even for a moment. No looking up at her dad with pleading eyes asking for permission. No. This bold little feline assumed that she was welcome on top of his computer – right on the keyboard. Dave, of course, moved her from on top of his lap and placed her next to him. She didn’t even flinch. No apology. Nothing. Still purring, she curled up next to him and stayed there while he worked.

As I observed this, I didn’t think much of it – just that we have a fairly assuming cat (wonder where she picked that up??). However, as I was thinking about it later, I realized that I could learn a thing or two from our four-legged friend. What is Kiki’s mission each day? It could go something like this: 1. Eat, 2. Sleep, 3. Play, 4. Sleep, 5. Tear around the house for no reason at all, 6. Snuggle, 7. Hunt bugs, 8. Eat, 9. Get into cabinets, 10. Snuggle and Sleep. Does she ask for permission for any of this? No – she pretty much demands for everything she needs. Weaving in and out of my legs, following me, meowing, rubbing, purring, and leading me to her empty food dish as if to say “Hey! Can you see this? It’s empty!” I have to hand it to her – she’s very persuasive. So – what’s the point? All you cat lovers out there will understand that this is a fairly normal routine for the staff of cats. The dog lovers of the world (of whom I count myself, too), may not fully understand or appreciate this routine. The point, though, is that throughout the entire day, Kiki simply assumes that she will get everything she wants and needs. And I comply – every day. Interesting. Is there a deeper lesson to be learned here?

Happy even after being moved...

I think there is. I think that if I were to adopt the same mentality – the same level of expectation that Kiki already has – my life would be much easier. Kiki doesn’t worry about whether or not she’s going to be loved each day. She doesn’t fret about having enough food. She doesn’t stress about her coat getting fuller for the winter (yes – she’s fluffier now than she was in the summer – but don’t tell her…). And she certainly doesn’t worry about having a warm body to curl up and snuggle with at night. She doesn’t worry about any of this, because she trusts and expects to have everything she requires. Can I learn to trust like she trusts? Can I learn to expect to have everything I need? Can I learn to ask for what I need? News flash – we already know how to get everything we need. I know that when I require something, all I need to do is ask for it. It’s part of who I am. It’s part of who we all are. We all know what to do when the need arises. What we might have trouble with is getting out of our own way to receive it. Fear in its many ugly forms may try to paralyze us from taking action. Dealing with that is simple – DON’T BE AFRAID! Does that sound harsh? It shouldn’t.

As I write this, Kiki has inched her way onto my lap – forcing me to move my computer to the side. Another lesson from our kitty – persistence. If at first something seems impossible, if your desire is great enough, there is always a way. Persist. Persist at all costs. If the “why” is strong enough, there is always a “how”.

The next time you’ve identified something you need, take a cue from Kiki – be unflinchingly persistent. You’ll always get what you desire with focused persistence.
