<p>Al suo esordio alla regia, <strong>Guillermo Arriaga </strong>ci mostra le vicissitudini e i segreti di donne di generazioni diverse, storie (apparentemente) diverse basate sui quattro elementi di fuoco, terra, acqua, aria.</p>

</em>La critica si è divisa nel giudicare il film.<br />
Si va da <em>&#8220;Il messicano Guillermo Arriaga si è fatto un nome a Hollywood con delle sceneggiature di forte impegno… Adesso passa anche alla regia… e porta sullo schermo un suo testo che, come i precedenti, svela ad ogni passo intelligenza e sapienza, consentendogli una rappresentazione carica di intense suggestioni visive&#8221; </em>(Il Tempo), <em>&#8220;&#8230;un film commovente, denso di sentimento ed emotivamente coinvolgente&#8221;</em> (FilmUp), <em>&#8220;Un ottimo film&#8221; </em>(Spaziofilm.it) a <em>&#8220;&#8230;un cervellotico esercizio di scrittura con pochi momenti emozionanti&#8221;</em> (Variety), <em>&#8220;&#8230;la moltiplicazione dei drammi si fa meccanica e la poetica si trasforma in banale puzzle mentale, che non coinvolge né tantomeno lascia tracce nel cuore&#8221;</em> (Ciak), <em>&#8220;<strong> </strong>La pianura di Arriaga brucia senza capo né coda&#8221; </em>(La Stampa).</p>
<p>Primo film americano ad essere presentato alla 65 Mostra di Venezia, parla di solitudine, di vendetta e di rimorso, di quanto sia difficile sfuggire al proprio passato&#8230; ma anche di come l&#8217;amore possa redimere e di come una seconda opportunità sia sempre possibile. Sottolinea giustamente Il Corriere della Sera però, il tema di fondo <em>&#8220;è quello delle responsabilità degli adulti verso i giovani e di come i figli cerchino, non sempre nel modo giusto, di fare i conti con quelle «colpe»&#8221;</em>.</p>
<p>Il celebrato sceneggiatore di González Iñárritu (<em>&#8220;Amores perros&#8221; &#8220;21 grammi&#8221; &#8220;Babel&#8221;</em>) e di Tommy Lee Jones (<em>&#8220;Le tre sepolture&#8221;</em>) ama le storie affastellate e interconnesse, con diversi personaggi ed episodi, e il tutto condito con sovrapposizioni tematiche e temporali (giustamente <strong>Guillermo Arriaga </strong>sostiene che chi racconta la propria vita lo fa senza seguire un ordine preciso). Molti hanno rimproverato al regista di insistere troppo con la struttura ellittica ad incastro: forse però era l&#8217;unico modo di rendere accettabile al pubblico d&#8217;oggi una storia che, raccontata linearmente, sa troppo di &#8220;feulletton&#8221; ottocentesco. Così costruito, il film, con i suoi innumerevoli flashback e nel suo opposto flashforward (il termine inglese, equivalente all&#8217;italiano &#8220;anticipazione&#8221;, indica una discontinuità nella successione temporale della narrazione, attuata attraverso l&#8217;anticipazione di un momento della storia che appartiene al futuro), inchioda lo spettatore alla poltrona, lo coinvolge e lo emoziona (spesso commuovendolo)</p>
<p><em><strong>The burning plain</strong></em> è un film sul dolore e sull&#8217;amore, sulla passione e sulla morte: forte, crudo (e al contempo toccante), dal notevole pathos, e che ha il pregio di suscitare più di una riflessione.<br />
Scritto con abilità e girato splendidamente tra l&#8217;Oregon e i deserti del Messico, il film dà massima importanza al paesaggio, fattore quasi determinante nel caratterizzare i sentimenti e gli umori dei vari personaggi (in una recente intervista il regista ha dichiarato: &#8220;<em>Volevo raccontare storie… in cui fossero la luce, i suoni gli animali e la vegetazione a dare uno spazio fisico ed emotivo ai personaggi, quasi come se il paesaggio stesso si facesse personaggio&#8221;</em>).</p>
<p>Un&#8217;opera da elogiare per abilità registica, cura al dettaglio e professionalità, un piccolo capolavoro di narrazione e di intreccio che si caratterizza, anche, per il suo andare contro-tendenza rispetto allo stile frenetico e nervoso oggi di moda.</p>
<p>Un piacere vedere recitare <strong>Charlize Theron </strong>e <strong>Kim Basinger </strong>(ma un plauso anche a <strong>Jennifer Lawrence</strong> che a Venezia ha conquistato il premio come giovane promessa per il futuro): ambedue da tempo liberatesi dal cliché di sex symbol, qui drammatiche e melanconiche, cupe e disperate… mai sopra le righe, intense e misurate al massimo. Una prova da grandi attrici in due ruoli certamente non facili. Brave è dir poco.</p>

<p>This may be very late for a movie review on Cool World, but I just happened to watch it at 3:00am in the morning today.  It’s a good movie, although it’s not fit for children to watch.  I think it’s not meant for children anyway, was it?  Anyway, I noticed that the way the cartoons interact with real people is very awkward.  It never ceased to distract me, maybe because I can’t avoid comparing it to advanced animation that we see today.  Also, Brad Pitt’s acting is so terrible.  It’s pretty obvious that he can’t see the animations in front of him and that he’s just imagining them, at the same time he can’t convince himself that he’s actually seeing them.  In general, the story is interesting, though.  The movie is entertaining.  Just ignore the acting, especially Brad Pitt&#8217;s.  Then again, I may be biased about Brad Pitt’s acting in Cool World because I don’t like, never did, but see and judge for yourself.</p>

<title><![CDATA[WHILE SHE WAS OUT - The Dungeon Review!]]></title>

But it had three things working in its favour. It was filmed in British Columbia. It had a female director. And, Guillermo del Toro&#8217;s name was on the cover as a producer. The man knows how to make a movie. With an impressive list of films including Cronos, The Devil&#8217;s Backbone, Blade 2, Hellboy and Pan&#8217;s Labyrinth, I figured maybe he knew a good thing when he saw it. PEE-U! This film is a stinker! Generally I do my best to stay away from spoilers, but sometimes it&#8217;s necessary. If you are dying to see this film, you will want to stop reading now. I can&#8217;t possibly describe my issues with this film without giving something away.</p>
<p>The story is about Della, loving mother of two children and unhappy wife of an abusive husband. It turns out she has run out of wrapping paper and needs to make a Christmas Eve run to the mall. On the way, her cell phone dies while talking to a friend. When she arrives at the mall, it is parking chaos. When she spies a car taking up two spots she feels impelled to leave a note calling them a &#8220;selfish jerk&#8221;. While shopping she runs into an acquaintance from school who makes her reflect on her life. She gets a tea from Starbucks where the woman behind the counter spells her name with one &#8220;L&#8221;, and her credit card is declined when she purchases the wrapping paper. Apparently, Della is having a bad night. When she gets inside her vehicle, a car pulls up behind her. She gets out, and is immediately confrontational with the group of four males. Apparently they did not care for her note. A security guard shows up but is shot in the head by one of the boys. Della uses the opportunity to get back in her vehicle and drive over a curb to get out. She gets a decent head start on them but crashes her vehicle in an empty subdivision under construction. They manage to track her down and she heads out on foot with a red toolbox she pulled from her trunk. The boys pursue her through the partially built homes and the surrounding woods.<br />

The story is just plain sloppy. In the films opening scene they paint Della as being meek. Based on the age of her children it would seem she has been in this loveless abusive marriage for some time. She is immediately confrontational with these four guys. She starts shoving them and swearing at them right away. The films tagline is &#8220;Everyone has a breaking point. Tonight, she reaches hers&#8221;. Apparently a trip to the mall on Christmas Eve pushes her over the edge. Did this woman just move to suburbia? When she walks out of the mall there are plenty of people around including a group of carollers. By the time she walks to her car the place is deserted. Seriously! Where the hell did all the people go? What about the people who work in the mall? No one heard the security guard get shot? Where the hell are all the freaking people?? This is only the beginning of the film and I&#8217;m already irritated.</p>
<p>The balance of the film is the pursuit. She gets a pretty decent head start but gets off of a main road to see if she can find anyone in a gas station. With no one about she decides to go up a different road. She plows through a road barrier and drives into a huge metal pipe. She attempts to tinker under the hood and get her vehicle started. She gives up when she sees their car approaching and pulls out her red toolbox. The boys seemed to have no trouble catching up to her. That stupid red toolbox just about drove me to drink. She prances about holding this clunky toolbox by the handle. A toolbox that was practically empty except a couple tools and a flair. The box barely made a noise, as she was moving about. It must have been some manner of magic toolbox. Why the hell did she not just take out the two tools and carry them? Or at least put them in those giant coat pockets? She never once uses the toolbox itself as a weapon, so why the hell did she continue to carry the stupid thing? I could not get past the box!<br />

It seems obvious that Della will survive pretty much from the get go. It becomes more apparent after the first kid is killed by one of his buddies. The jerk steps on his friend’s head and breaks his neck! The alpha dog of the group sends his two boys off to find Della and heads out solo. While Della is tiptoeing through the forest with her toolbox the two boys have dragged their dead friends body out into a clearing. Apparently conducting an impromptu memorial service complete with beer and loud music. When the alpha male appears, he gives them hell and they go back to their pursuit. Bloody hell! Really?! I couldn&#8217;t help but laugh at that scene. The character interactions get more ridiculous and implausible as the film moves along. Even though they are hunting in a group, each time they get close just one of them steps up for the attack. So she has only one attacker at a time to fend off. These boys are not too sharp. Inevitably she uses her tools against each of them. One tool for each boy. There are so many irritating little bits, I could probably ramble on for another three paragraphs. This is more typing than this film deserves and I think I&#8217;ve made my point.</p>
<p>I can&#8217;t really rag on the performances. I think the players did what was asked of them. I had so much trouble with every other aspect of this film I&#8217;m not sure I really noticed how the acting was. &#8216;While She Was out&#8217; is terrible. A complete lack of suspense or thrills, an overused premise and a weak story riddled with clichés and terrible dialog. Absolutely, not recommended!</p>

Así, <strong>cada sábado hablaremos de algún film de culto,</strong> analizaremos alguna saga o criticaremos películas míticas. Hoy, vamos con el Batman fílmico&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Para empezar a hablar del cruzado de la capa, <strong>hay que remontarse a los mismos años 60, época en la que una serie Camp basada en el personaje, congrega a miles de fans ante la pantalla.</strong> Si, hablo de aquella mítica teleserie en la que l<strong>as onomatopellas de los golpes copaban la imagen: <em>Pow, Biff&#8230;</em></strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Viendo el enorme éxito que tuvo esta serie, el paso era lógico. <strong>Había que llevar a Batman Y Robin al cine</strong>. Y así, el productor <strong>William Dozier se decide a filmar un episodio largo con estos protagonistas </strong>de excepción. Pero claro, es una película y no un capítulo. Quieren tirar la casa por la ventana y <strong>fichan a todos los villanos importantes. </strong><strong>Joker (Cesar Romero) Pingúino (Burguess Meredith) Enigma (Frank Gossin) y Catwoman (Lee Meriwether</strong>, <strong>sustituyendo a Julie Newmar, la catwoman de la serie, liada con otro proyecto)</strong>. <strong>Batman (Adam West) y Robin (Burt Ward), deberán enfrentarse a tal atajo de viles y viciosos villanos</strong>.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">El tono <em>Camp</em> de la serie está presente desde el principio, q<strong>uedando para el recuerdo la escena de Batman corriendo con la bomba,</strong> o la del tiburón de cartón piedra que mordía la pierna del héroe.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">En aquellos tiempos la imagen que la mayoría del mundo tenía de Batman, era ésta. Un Batman ciertamente tripudo y siempre metido en situaciones inversímiles y estúpidas. <strong>En DC Comics, la editorial que publica el personaje se llevaba las manos a la cabeza</strong>. <strong>Necesitaban devolver a Batman al origen. A las sombras&#8230;</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Pasan los años y <strong>en las oficinas de Warner Bros se empiezan a oír entre susurros rumores sobre un nuevo proyecto con Batman.</strong><strong> Tom Mankiewicz</strong>, asesor creativo en <strong>Superman the movie (Richard Donner 1978)</strong> propone un guión, pero no cuaja. Se parece más a James Bond, personaje del que había escrito libretos, que al propio Batman.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Se van sucediendo los rumores, hasta que el anuncio <strong>es oficial. Batman vuelve al cine. </strong>La gente del comic tiembla ya que durante años han estado dando una imagen oscura al héroe para que ahora lo arruinen con un film tan camp como aquel de Adam West. Pero pueden estar tranquilos. <strong>Se elige a Tim Burton como director</strong>. En aquella época, Burton tan solo había dirigido dos films y un puñado de cortos, acordes a un estilo que le va a caracterizar durante el resto de su carrera. Burton lo tiene claro. En su mente, <strong>ya sabe quién es Batman. Michael Keaton.</strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Los fans y el propio Bob Kane, creador del héroe ponen el grito en el cielo y empiezan a llover las quejas. </strong>Que si el tipo es bajito, que si ¿qué hace un actor de comedia en un proyecto como este? que si&#8230;.. Pero da igual. Burton no cede. Lo tiene claro. Ya ha trabajado con el actor en <strong>Bitelchus</strong>, y le gusta cómo interpreta.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Por el camino, Keaton suelta alguna perla que deja al personaje en no muy buen lugar, lo que cabrea más al ejército de fans. Para el papel del villano parece haber más unanimidad. <strong>Alguien del estudio propone a Jack Nicholson</strong>. Nadie tiene nada que decir al respecto. <strong>Es el maldito Nicholson.</strong> <strong>Todo un puntazo</strong>. Hasta Bob Kane asiente al oir la elección. El actor de <strong>Chinatown</strong>, no lo duda. Acepta a cambio de fines de semana libres. Y así, junto con <strong>Kim Basinger</strong>, se empieza a rodar <strong>BATMAN</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">1<strong>989 por fin es el año en el que Batman llega a las pantallas grandes.</strong> Tras ver el film, <strong>ya nadie recuerda a Adam West.</strong> El tono <strong>oscuro</strong> de Burton (presente en toda su obra) <strong>el genial Joker</strong> a medio camino entre un asesino psicótico y un payaso de feria, <strong>el tema musical de un Danny Elfman desatado </strong> y Keaton. <strong>Keaton calla a todos los fans. Es el mejor referente visual de Batman que existe. Y nadie puede negarlo.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">El film revienta las taquillas de todo el mundo. Y <strong>da lugar a un fenómeno: La Batmanía.</strong> Mires donde mires, el símbolo del murciélago está ahí. En los cereales, en los refrescos, en las hamburgueserías&#8230;..</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Burton se frota las manos. A pesar de los agujeros del guión y ciertos momentos tensos ha terminado. Lo ha logrado con nota, así que ya puede dedicarse a otros proyectos. <strong>Pero volvería a Gotham.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Con Batman por todas partes, y viendo el éxito del film, que <strong>Warner Bros quisiera una secuela</strong> era algo que estaba cantado. Así que nada, a llamar a Burton otra vez, que venía de dirigir <strong>Eduardo Manostijeras.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Para este nuevo film, se cambia todo el diseño de producción. <strong>La película no va a ser para nada un calco de BATMAN</strong>. Así, para este <strong>Batman Returns</strong> se crea un enorme set con la plaza principal de Gotham, el cementerio de la ciudad y el zoo. <strong>Todo ello cubierto bajo una espesura blanca causada por la nieve</strong>. Poco a poco v<strong>a tomando forma un proyecto que estará llamado a ser el más <em>Burtoniano</em> de la saga.</strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Los papeles principales están cogidos. <strong>Michael Keaton vuelve a ser Batman.</strong> <strong>Kim Basinger lo deja en favor de Michelle Pfeiffer</strong> que va a ser la mejor Catwoman fílmica jamás vista. Por su parte <strong>Danny DeVito se une al cast para interpretar al Pingüino</strong>, villano de la función junto con <strong>Cristopher Walken que interpreta a Max Shreck (un guiño Burtoniano a Nosferatu).</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Al ver el principio del film, <strong>se ve que todo es distinto. No tiene que ver nada con el Batman anterior.</strong> <strong>El film es Eduardo Manostijeras pero con Batman de protagonista.</strong> Hasta <strong>en la banda sonora, otra vez de Elfman, se nota que las garras de Burton han llegado lejos.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Finalmente <strong>la película triunfa</strong>, pero los resultados no son tan espectaculares como los de su predecesora. No obstante, e<strong>n Warner están contentos. La secuela tiene luz verde.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Entre medias de lo que todavía se llama Batman 3, <strong>aparece Batman animated series, la mejor recreación del personaje en la pantalla pequeña</strong> y que durará cuatro temporadas y serviría para que <strong>se creara un universo animado en torno a los héroes de DC.</strong></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Las cartas están lanzadas.<strong> Batman 3 es una realidad. </strong>Pero no va a ser lo que se espera de ella. <strong>Burton se mantiene como productor</strong>, pero no como director, labor que recae en <strong>Joel Schumacher.</strong> En cuanto al papel principal, <strong>Keaton dice que ya no quiere ser Batman;</strong> el guión no le gusta, se vuelve sutilmente al Batman de los 60 y eso no va con él. Así que Schumacher <strong>le ofrece el papel a Val Kilmer</strong> que acepta, para luego dar mil millones de quebraderos de cabeza a todo el mundo en el set.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Se va viendo que <strong>la película tiene más colorines que las dos anteriores.</strong> Una cosa decisiva al respecto: <strong>En este film sale Robin. Chris O´Donell será el chico maravilla. </strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Todo es distinto, nada es igual. <strong>Se rediseña Gotham</strong>, con más colores, más pulp todo. <strong>Se cambia el precioso Batmovil que diseñara Anton Furst</strong> para <strong>BATMAN</strong> y se ridiculiza a los villanos hasta puntos insultantes. D<strong>os Caras, interpretado por Tommy Lee Jones, es un estúpido, un calco del Joker</strong>, solo que con media cara desfigurada. El otro villano de la cinta, porque en esta película todo pretende ir a lo grande, es <strong>Enigma, al que da vida Jim Carrey.</strong> Probablemente Carrey es el único que está algo metido en el papel, pero no lo suficiente. <strong>Nicole Kidman hace las veces de chica en apuros con diálogos estúpidos como nunca vistos en el cine&#8230; Lo peor de todo, no hay duda, son los dichosos pezones. El Bat-traje tiene pezones!!!!! Sin duda un film para olvidar.</strong></p>

<p>Au moment de créer la rubrique &#8220;Personne n&#8217;en parle !&#8221; avec Caro, j&#8217;avais décidé grâce à mon groupe de cinéphiles préféré de parler de <em>Head On</em> (ce que j&#8217;ai d&#8217;ailleurs fait..).</p>
<p>En réalité, celui dont j&#8217;avais désiré parler en tout premier et me l&#8217;étais interdit car la rubrique  n&#8217;existait pas encore est : <em>Loin de la terre brûlée</em> — en anglais <em>The Burning Plain, </em>sorti en 2008.</p>
<p>Un samedi soir seule chez moi&#8230; j&#8217;en ai, encore une fois, pris plein la figure.</p>
<p>3 femmes, 3 destins entremêlés avec 2 actrices magnifiques Kim Basinger (qui avait littéralement disparu de la circulation) et Charlize Théron..</p>
<p>Un réalisateur extraordinaire : Guillermo Arriaga, acteur, réalisateur, scénariste à la filmographie déconcertante puisqu&#8217;il est par ailleurs producteur des films d&#8217;<a title="Alejandro González Iñárritu" href="http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alejandro_Gonz%C3%A1lez_I%C3%B1%C3%A1rritu">Alejandro González Iñárritu</a> : les démentiels <em>Amours chien</em><em>nes</em>, <em>21 Grammes</em> et <em>Babel</em> (je suis fan à 500% des 3 !!!). Il  a aussi remporté en <a title="2005 au cinéma" href="http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_au_cin%C3%A9ma">2005</a> le <a title="Prix du scénario (Festival de Cannes)" href="http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prix_du_sc%C3%A9nario_(Festival_de_Cannes)">Prix du Meilleur Scénario</a> au <a title="Festival de Cannes" href="http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festival_de_Cannes">Festival de Cannes</a> pour <em><a title="Trois Enterrements" href="http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trois_Enterrements">Trois Enterrements</a></em>.</p>
<p>Scénario violent&#8230; Tout en émotions, expressions, personnages (si beaux !) aux destins broyés, morcelés par le réalisateur qui peut à peu reconstitue le puzzle pour le plus grand bonheur de la spectatrice que je suis qui se laisse conduire.. (ce qui n&#8217;arrive pas souvent <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />  )</p>

<title><![CDATA[Long post muzyczno-filmowy]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Sinusoidalnie zmieniał się mój nastrój po ostatnich spotkaniach z muzyką, polską i zagraniczną. Rado]]></description>

Radość moja tym jest większa, że rodzimi artyści wyszli z tej &#8220;potyczki&#8221; z podniesionym czołem, dumnie i wysoko dzierżąc tarczę. Zaczęło się od długich godzin z pierwszą solową płytą Huberta &#8220;Spiętego&#8221; Dobaczewskiego &#8220;Antyszanty&#8221;. Nie wiem, jak innym, ale mi zajęło trochę zanim zacząłem przysłuchiwać się tej produkcji nie mając z tyłu głowy pytania &#8220;a kiedy będzie coś w stylu Lao Che&#8221;?. Bo z muzyki twórców trzech kapitalnych płyt jest na &#8220;Antyszantach&#8221; tylko głos Spiętego. Artysta zastosował inną, bardziej minimalistyczną formułę, podpiera się głównie gitarą, bębnami, które jakby wybijały na galerze rytm wiosłującym skazańcom. Jest prosta elektronika, którą niejeden już przyrównywał do Kraftwerk, zaś ja bym dodał tutaj nową falę z początków lat 80. Skoro w tytule jest słowo szanty, to nie mogło zabraknąć drumli. Jest też banjo, chyba dla większości łączące się z country. Aranżacje są naprawdę skromne, ale ta muzyka działa mocno w połączeniu ze słownymi igraszkami Spiętego. Rockers Publishing w zapowiedziach pisał o mocno erotycznym charakterze tekstów. I faktycznie dosadnego śpiewania o paniach i panach (marynarzach i majtkach) jest sporo. Są dziecięce zdrobnienia, wyliczanki, które pozornie nie mogą wywołać innego traktowania płyty, jak zwyczajne jaja, wygłupy. Ale jeśli dokładnie wczytać się w słowa Spiętego, w to słów cięcie i gięcie, te zbitki, neologizmy, jeśli wbić się głębiej, okaże się, iż artysta nie do końca traktuje całości jako beztroskiej zabawy. Spięty zawsze miał coś do przekazania z Lao Che, ma również jako solista. Płyta trudna do sklasyfikowania, ale jak wiadomo, ja za szufladkowaniem nie przepadam. Niech stanie na tym, że to muzyka alternatywna, niekomercyjna, z dość dosadnym, frywolnym przekazem, pod powierzchnią którego jest i sporo celnych spostrzeżeń.</p>
<p><a href="http://dutkowski.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/proghma11.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-214" title="proghma1" src="http://dutkowski.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/proghma11.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Drugi punkt dla Polski wywalczyła gdańska Proghma-C i debiutancką płytą &#8220;Bar-do Travel&#8221;. Ściemniać nie będę, album wciągnął mnie bardzo. Na tyle, że postanowiłem poszperać dość intensywnie w poszukiwaniu genezy tytułu i paru tytułów z krążka. Wiedzę wzbogaciłem. Wiem, że &#8220;bardo&#8221; to stan przejściowy w tybetańskim mistycyzmie i to była cenna nauka przed zabraniem się do komponowania finalnej wersji recenzji. Bo mistyki w tej muzyce jest sporo. Także hipnotyczności, momentami transowości. Trudno uciec od skojarzeń z Meshuggah, wokalista manierą chwilami przypomina Maynarda Jamesa Keenana. Elektronika i niektóre partie gitarowe wychodzą z progresywnego grania. W skojarzeniach nie ma niczego złego. Proghma-C potrafiła ze swoich inspiracji zbudować coś swojego, zostawiła na płycie swój ślad. Za wcześniej mówić, że mają swój styl, ale z pewnością wiedzą, w którą stronę zmierzają. A cover &#8220;Army Of Me&#8221; Björk nagrali naprawdę imponujący. Godzina świetnej muzyki, mocnej, ciężkiej, ale mającej przestrzeń, jakąś tajemniczość, nie przytłaczającej dla samego przytłaczania. Proghma-C nie z tych, co będą silić się na bycie najcięższymi, najbardziej pokręconymi, itp. Emocje, które chcą wyrazić, oblekają we właściwe dźwięki. I pewnie z tego powodu blisko godzina spędzona z &#8220;Bar-do Travel&#8221; mija tak miło i bezboleśnie. Głęboko się panom kłaniam i czekam na to, co będzie dalej, licząc mocno, iż będzie jeszcze lepiej, jeszcze bardziej interesująco.</p>
<p><a href="http://dutkowski.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/cheap.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-215" title="cheap" src="http://dutkowski.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/cheap.jpg?w=150" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Honor zagranicy znakomicie obronili weterani z Cheap Trick. Tajemnicą nie jest, że do melodyjnego rocka i hard rocka mam słabość, aczkolwiek Amerykanie nigdy nie należeli do grona moich wielkich ulubieńców. Jednak ich mocno beatlesowski, chwytliwy rock, hard rock, rock and roll może rozpogodzić nastrój każdego przytłoczonego faktem, że w listopadzie wcześniej robi się ciemno, a słońca jest jak na lekarstwo. Płyta &#8220;The Latest&#8221; zaraża radością, oczywiście jest na niej mnóstwo pięknych harmonii, ukłonów w stronę glam rocka, uwielbianych przez Cheap Trick The Beatles, rockandrollowy kopniak, a nawet ognistość żywcem wzięta z melodyjnego punk rocka. W USA Cheap Trick to legenda, u nas zespół znany raczej niewielkiemu gronu pasjonatów AOR-u, czyli rocka zorientowanego na dorosłych. Nazwa durna i nie wiem, kto za nią stoi. Co za kretynizm! Rock właśnie jest przede wszystkim dla niedorosłych, dla wiecznie zbuntowanych, młodych duchem. Dorosłość raczej odbiera człowiekowi rockandrollowość, przynosząc w jej miejsce rozleniwienie, skapcanienie, przeczulenie na punkcie współrzędnych pilota w domowym zaciszu. Dobra, nie będę się pastwił nad jakimś szufladkarzem od Wujka Sama. Czasu i palców szkoda. Wielkie dzięki Adamowi Śliwakowskiemu z krakowskiego <strong><a href="http://metalshop.net.pl/o_nas.html" target="_blank">Metal Shopu</a></strong>, że po udostępnieniu mi płyty ze trzy razy pytał, czy słuchałem. W końcu zrobiło mi się głupio, posłuchałem i będę miał powód, aby złożyć mu serdecznie dzięki za dobry wybór. Są jednak w sklepach muzycznych ludzie, którzy znają się na rzeczy. Nie ma jednak ich za wielu. Adam to wyjątek, a Metal Shopowi stuknie za jakiś czas 20 lat. Oj, będzie się działo J</p>
<p><a href="http://dutkowski.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/meatbats.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-218" title="meatbats" src="http://dutkowski.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/meatbats.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Chad Smith&#8217;s Bombastic Meatbats, to poboczny projekt perkusisty Red Hot Chili Peppers. Projekt instrumentalny z udziałem czterech muzyków, którzy są już na tym etapie wtajemniczenia w sztukę, że jeśli mają czas, to bawią się instrumentami, nie myśląc, czy skala tej zabawy przekroczy granicę sali, w której mają próby. Tak, nie każdy może sobie na coś takiego pozwolić, a u nas to pewnie mniej niż promil. Ale Chad, Ed Roth, Jeff Kollman i Kevin Chown mogą. Powszechnie znany jest tutaj tylko Smith, ale reszta to nie byle jacy muzycy. Może nie jest to pierwsza liga pod względem znajomości przez fanów, lecz Ed, Jeff i Kevin dossier mają całkiem spore. A w co się bawią? Bawią się w funky, soul, fusion, delikatnego jazzu. Bawią się dobrze, bo pod koniec paru kompozycji słychać zabawne uwagi słowne, typu &#8220;Oj, wylałem sobie piwo&#8221;. Jest też koncertowy cover kompozycji Billy&#8217;ego Cobhama, słychać, że zarejestrowany w jakimś małym kalifornijskim klubiku. Panowie kochają to, co robią, mają z tego wyczuwalną na kilometr radochę, a ich ego nie są na tyle duże, aby zżymali się na to, iż ogląda ich 250 osób, a nie 50 tys. To nie jest płyta, która zapisze się na lata w świadomości fanów. Na pewno chętnie zaopatrzą się w nią ci, którzy lubią takie granie instrumentalne, w którym nie ma wyścigów, kto zagra szybsze i bardziej efektowne solo. Kwartet przyjął pewne reguły muzycznej zabawy i trzyma się ich. Chciałbym zobaczyć ich na żywo, bo pewnie granice zabawy wtedy się poszerzają, ale mam mało wiary w to, że ktoś odważyłby się ich do nas zaprosić. A jeszcze niewielu stać na to, aby fruwać sobie na koncerty do Japonii&#8230;</p>

Zmęczyła mnie i znudziła płyta &#8220;Night Is The New Day&#8221;. Napisanie, że nie ma w tej muzyce życia nie byłoby trafne, bo Szwedzi raczej operują paletą, na której są głównie mroczne barwy, a ze śmiercią i okołośmierciowymi tematami zawsze im było do twarzy. Niefajność &#8220;Night Is The New Day&#8221; to brak tego czegoś, co powoduje, że chce się do materiału wracać. Coś, co chyba po raz ostatni pojawiło się na &#8220;Viva Emptiness&#8221; i wcześniejszych albumach. Można wylewać żale, płakać do mikrofonu, ale jeśli nie ma w tym jakiegoś haczyka, magicznego ognika, iskry bożej, szatańskiego liźnięcia, to wiele z albumu się nie wyniesie. Mikael Akerfeldt może sobie pisać hymny pochwalne na stickerze z okładki, jego prawo. Ale z radością bym się dowiedział, jak jego zdaniem &#8220;Night Is The New Day&#8221; wypada na przykład z &#8220;Last Fair Deal Go Down&#8221;?</p>

Naprawdę, powiedział to w wywiadzie radiowym. Nie chcę na siłę kwestionować prawdziwości jego słów, ale jak ma się wydać album inspirowany świątecznymi piosenkami, zimą, bożonarodzeniowym zamieszaniem, a do tego zna się ten biznes od podszewki, to&#8230; Nie mam nic przeciwko takim płytom nagrywanym przez metalowców. Przeciwnie, nie jeden raz setnie się przy takowych projektach uśmiałem. Do dziś pamiętam wersję &#8220;White Christmas&#8221; Binga Crosby&#8217;ego, w której gardło darła niesamowicie Sabina Classen z Holy Moses. Rok temu weselej zrobiło mi się przy &#8220;We Wish You A Metal Xmas&#8230;&#8221;. Po &#8220;Winter Songs&#8221; nie jest mi za bardzo do śmiechu, bo to płyta nudnawa i przesadnie poważna, nadęta jak balon braci Montgolfier albo Jose Mourinho. Gdybym celebrował Wigilię, chętnie widziałbym przy stole Roba Halforda, ale wolałbym, aby zamiast piosenek z trzeciej płyty zaśpiewał mi na przykład &#8220;Resurrection&#8221;, &#8220;The One You Love To Hate&#8221;, czy jakiś kawałek Judasów. Byle nie z &#8220;Nostradamusa&#8221; J</p>

W ostatnich dniach bardziej filmowy niż książkowy i niekoniecznie związany z nowościami. Adam Ś. nie tylko na muzyce się zna, lecz czasami rekomenduje niezłe filmy. Polecił mi dwa sensacyjne amerykańskie obrazy &#8211; &#8220;Władza pieniędzy&#8221; (Even Money) i &#8220;Błękitny proszek&#8221; (Powder Blue). Obydwa łączy osoba Foresta &#8220;Klapnięte Oczko&#8221; Whitakera. Pierwszy, to opowieść o uzależnieniach dwóch osób od hazardu i kłopotach, które z tego wynikają dla złotej rączki Clyde&#8217;a Snowa (Whitaker) i pisarki Carolyn Carver (bardzo dobra Kim Basinger). Kłopoty, ich sprawianie, jest tu domeną niejakiego Victora (Tim Roth, i wszystko jasne <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> ), za którym stoi tajemniczy Ivan. Końcówka dość łatwa do przewidzenia, ale ogląda się naprawdę miło.</p>

Nie tylko ze względu na Jessicę Biel, która jako tancerka erotyczna musi podziałać na wyobraźnię każdego mężczyzny (swoją drogą nieźle się do tej roli przygotowała; ciekawe, kto był konsultantem merytorycznym), ale nieźle wypada też w dramatycznych scenach, kiedy rozbierać i wyginać się nie trzeba. Bo Rose-Johnny (Biel) ma synka w śpiączce i wierzy głęboko, że odzyska on zdrowie, dlatego tańczy ile się da, także w prywatnych pokojach, za co dostaje się więcej pieniędzy, ale też znacznie więcej trzeba z siebie dać. Patricka Swayze (R.I.P) można zobaczyć w ciekawej epizodycznej roli właściciela klubu, wrednego skurwiela, który wykorzystuje swoje pracownice jak się da. Jest ograny wątek dziewczyny nie znającej ojca (znakomity Ray Liotta), który po latach się odnajduje, jest nieśmiały młodzian, szukający miłości, na co dzień zajmujący się makijażem dla umarłych i mający kłopoty finansowe, jest pastor (Whitaker), który chce zapłacić za zastrzelenie go, między innymi przygodnie poznanemu transwestycie (swoją drogą przedstawienie pastorowi cennika usług jest zabawne). Co ważne, przynajmniej dla mnie, nie ma tu hollywoodzkiego happy endu, nie wszyscy żyją długo i szczęśliwie.</p>

<p>In the newest (ridiculously stupid) <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj5dJqvHp2E">spot</a>, Dana and Kim reinact the laundromat scene from Wayne&#8217;s World &#8211; only Kim tells the camera that Garth should head over to her place and watch HD movies on her Directv. Really? Did you not see how haggard and used up Carvey looks? I wouldn&#8217;t even let him replace the creepy landscapers that mow my lawn &#8211; let alone elude to a make-out sesh in front of my sweet HD setup&#8230;gross.</p>
<p>Doesn&#8217;t help Carvey&#8217;s credibility that I had to Google him to make sure he&#8217;s still alive &#8211; thought we had <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwgxFCq1gbw">another stiff</a> <a href="http://www.popeater.com/2009/10/26/chris-farley-direct-tv-ad/">shilling</a> out there. Rest assured, Garth lives &#8211; barely from the look of his wrinkled mess of a face. It was probably just confusing to me because he&#8217;s worked about the same amount as <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000394/">Chris Farley</a> in the last 10 years&#8230;seriously&#8230;I <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001022/">imdb&#8217;d </a>that shit.</p>

In the ninth inning of Game 4 Sunday night,  Johnny Damon stole second and then third on the same throw in the top of the ninth inning. When Damon battled Lidge for nine pitches  with two outs before lining a single to left field, you knew that Lidge was nearing the end of his effectiveness. No mention was made by Fox announcers Joe (Pearl Jam Man) Buck and Tim (I Talk but Say Nothing) McCarver about how much the at bat had taken from Lidge.  With Mark Teixeira at bat and Damon on first, the Phillies moved into an overshift . Not that Joe or Tim thought to mention it (to my ears at least). So when Damon took off for second to steal you would think that SS Jimmy Rollins would handle the throw. But no, it was 3B Pedro Feliz. Damon was safe and immediately popped up out of his slide and took off for third. <em>What?</em> The ball hadn’t gotten loose. Where was he going? He knew&#8211;and we soon found out&#8211;  that no one covered third. The lack of information made it hard to figure out why what was about to happen was about to happen. Of course, Johnny made it to third, easily outrunning a hopelessly overmatched Feliz. And while Joe and Tim did mention that Lidge would now be afraid to throw his slider to Teixeira (he solved that by plunking Tex) and he was forced to throw fastballs to ARod (who doubled). But at no time did they make it clear who could have been covering third on Damon’s steal of second—they mentioned Lidge could have done it but didn’t say he was way out of position as he ducked Carlos Ruiz’s late throw to second. Jimmy Rollins, the shortstop? You see him in the replay in a position to get ahead of the runner heading to third. Nope, never mentioned. The catcher  Ruiz? Nope, he stayed at home instead of covering third as he could and should have. No mention. So much happened on this great play that needed explanation and expansion and we got none of it. You think I&#8217;m exaggerating? Watch.</p>

<p><strong>2—I’m sure ‘Avatar’ </strong>is going to be a very big movie this Christmas; it looks great. But what the hell was it doing opening Sunday night’s World Series telecast? <em>What’s that? Synergy? It’s a Fox movie. </em>Screw synergy. This is the World Series. Make the movie buy commercials like the rest of the sponsors (and give it a few spots to replace those stupid Direct TV ads with long-ago has-been Dana Carvey and the formerly luscious Kim Basinger).</p>
<p><strong>3—Brad Lidge was awful </strong>this season; everyone knows it, especially Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel. So Manuel coaxed a few decent appearances from the spooked closer this postseason but he made it work only in spots where Lidge had a comfortable lead—too easy to fail situations. Not like Sunday night. But there were Joe and Tim neglecting to mention that fact when Lidge came on to pitch the ninth inning. This was not a too-easy-to-fail situation and fail Lidge did. But did our stellar broadcasters tell us any of that? Ummm, no.</p>

<p><strong>4—Joba Chamberlain made his mark</strong> two years ago with the Yankees with a 96 mile an hour fastball and a wicked slider. In fact, most of his strikeouts came on the slider. Fastball (strike one), fastball (strike two), fastball (high and away), slider in the dirt (strike three). Take a seat. So when Joba fanned the first two Phillies in the bottom of the eighth Sunday and the Yanks ahead 4-3, the fact that he did it on fastballs was worrying to the Yankee fans in the audience (or anyone who actually pays attention to baseball details which would be all of us except two voices I know). With Pedro Feliz at bat, McCarver proclaims, he can’t go away from his fastball now. Two strikes to Feliz on fastballs and then two balls on sliders in the dirt. “He has to throw the fastball here,” says Tim. Well, no, he doesn’t and no, he shouldn’t. But throw it he did and Feliz pumped it into the left-field seats because, as Tim quickly pointed out, “a major leaguer’s going to be able to catch up to a fastball eventually.” Huh? That’s what’s called making sure you are always right. Slider there and we go to the ninth at 4-3. But not in McCarver’s world.</p>
<p><strong>5—Camera shows Yankees ace reliever Mariano </strong>Rivera in the bullpen during the top of the ninth and he has a heating pad under his arm. “Is he hurt?” the voices wonder. No, he’s not hurt. That’s the way the great man stays warm on a cold night. Keeping the muscles warm with the pad makes the first warm-up throws that much more effective, a fact that a bit of homework by Joe and Tim and their producers might have uncovered. Instead, thousands of Yankee fans looked for the nearest ledge.</p>
<p><strong>6—Top of the ninth</strong>, two out, Johnny Damon up, and Tim says, “if the Yankees don’t take the lead, Joe Girardi may have Chamberlain come out and pitch the ninth.”  Good thought Tim except for one thing: Hidecki Matsui had already pinch-hit for Chamberlain two batters earlier and popped out. No designated hitter, means no designated hitter pal.</p>
<p><strong>7—In attempting to wax poetic</strong> about the big day in sports in Philadelphia Joe Buck talked over an aerial view of the South Philly complex that includes Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field (home of the Eagles which kicked some NY Giants tail earlier in the day) and the dimly lit, soon to be demolished Spectrum. “Pearl Jam’s playing there now in the final event ever” says Joe. But the concert was Saturday night as most knew and then Joe went off about spending his Sunday afternoon listening to the new Pearl Jam album. Ooh, you are so cool Joe Cool. Tim, of course, had no idea what he was talking about.</p>
<p><strong>8—Who exactly put the camera</strong> in the field of play for Saturday night’s Game 3? When Alex Rodriguez hit his line shot off the camera lens in the fourth inning, Tim actually got it right on the first replay when he said “home run” long before the umpires (don’t get me started on them) made the call. The ball hit off the camera above the home run line. Whose camera? Fox’s camera, of course, which had slid beyond the barrier into the actual field of play. Did anyone question on the air what a camera was doing affecting play? Not on your life? Did anyone talk about it last night? Not that I heard. Did we ever see where the camera was last night? Not that I saw. It’s disgraceful (and completely unnecessary) for baseball to have to deal with this issue in the World Series but that’s what you get from folks who seem not to respect the game even one bit.</p>

<p><strong>9—When Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch </strong>in inning No. 2 Saturday night, you didn’t think much of it. After all, Mr. $30-Million-a-Year had not had a hit yet. But then he lined his carom shot home run in his next AB and lined out to center following that. When he came up in the seventh and the Yanks ahead by 6-4, Johnny Damon was on second. First base was open and there were two out. Intentional walk time. But Phillies’ reliever Chad Durbin figured “why waste time” and plunked ARod again, clearly as intentional as an intentional walk. But our Timmy jumped in and said: “no way you hit Alex Rodriguez intentionally there.” Is he kidding? And when ARod came up in the top of the first to begin Sunday night’s game he got another fastball in his upper arm. Once again Timmy told us, “no way” I have a secret for you Tim. “WAY.” Jeez even the umpires figured it out.</p>
<p><strong>10—Ozzie Guillen speaks </strong>what language again? Who thought it would be a good idea to put the Chicago White Sox volatile manager in a suit and overcoat and hand him a microphone. I don’t like the way this sounds but really can anyone understand a word that Ozzie’s saying? His colleagues on the pregame show—Chris Rose, Eric Karros and Mark Grace—are so bad I prefer not understanding Ozzie than listening to them.</p>

<p>Well. Well, well, well. So I begin.</p>
<p>Last night I popped The Burning Plain into my DVD player and settled down to watch, knowing nothing about it other than it starred Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger and was the project of the guy who did Babel and 21 Grams. These facts obviously then led me on to the rather troubling question – why has nobody seen this film?! You’d think with such a strong creative team behind it, it would at least have a bit of notoriety. In fact, I had read about its troubling theatrical run in the UK some months previous, where it struggled to make even £10,000. Oh well, I thought, let’s bung it in and have a bit of Charlize. Although she’s not an absolute favourite of mine I’m very much in the pro-Theron camp; even if Monster didn’t actually rock my socks like it did for some others.</p>
<p>I don’t want to give too much of the plot away, but suffice to say it’s a rather terse melodrama, criss-crossing different time periods to show us two sets of mother-daughter relationships from the same family. There’s some good stuff here I guess, although ultimately none of it is worth a huge big gushing film-geek collapse. The three central performances absolutely work. If you like beautiful, neurotic women who stay in loveless marriages and conduct boringly illicit affairs with badly-acted Mexican men you’re going to love Kim Basinger. A nice little mastectomy sub-plot leading to a big boob(less) reveal and the emotional freedom of taking a lover who loves/lusts you for your big boobless self? Oh yes. Being incredibly fragile and nervey throughout this rather hackneyed process? Oh yes yes yes. Looking absolutely BUFF TING for an old lady wife? INDEED. Yes, that’s a lot of boxes ticked that I’m certainly responding to. YOU GO KIMMY. Charlize and the striking actress (Jennifer Lawrence) who plays her younger self throw in similarly arresting (although not-quite-as-lovely-on-paper) performances.</p>
<p>Will I be raving about these turns in a few years time? Probably not. These ladies grabbed me for the duration of the film, yes indeedy, but I know you similarly minded lot out there, and me, will have them fade from our collective memories alarmingly quickly. What will stay is the rather visceral visual conclusion to the film, which you know is coming from the beginning, but hits hard when it does, down fully to the rather majestic lensing that consistently elevates the content of the film. Oh, and there are various cute sex scenes with an assortment of emotionally damaged peeps, if that’s your thing (it certainly is mine).</p>
<p>Definitely seek this one out, but for a quiet moment, and not for anything more than a mildly satisfying sojourn into those un-glamorous, yet actually very glamorous, lives that in times of neurotic film geekiness you might fancy a bit for yourself. But only if majestically lensed. Obvs.</p>

<p>This is not <em>just </em>bad for men, who will increasingly face financial ruin, and loss of access to their own children. No-fault divorce opens the door to totalitarian control of <em>men, women and children</em> by the state. <p>And besides, when radical feminism convinced women that out-of-wedlock sex (and the inevitable abortions) were evidence of their equal worth to men, the men got the sex they wanted with little if any commitment or responsibility.  Something like W<em>hy buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?</em> comes to mind.</p>
<p>If  you combine a godless worldview with our current divorce laws, why would any guy take the risks?</p>
<p>There is still a better way, people: Follow God&#8217;s plan for sex and marriage &#8211; one man, one woman, for life.  Easy?  No.  Worth it?  Yes!</p>

Neste magnífico filme de <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0037247/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">Guillermo Arriaga</span></strong></a>, o argumentista de <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315733/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">&#8220;21 Gramas&#8221;</span></strong></a></em> ou <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449467/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">&#8220;Babel&#8221;</span></strong></a></em>, encontramos três histórias distintas que se tocam em cumplicidades e que gradualmente se vão desfiando e aprofundando, deixando o tempo interior das personagens confundir-se e emaranhar-se na estrutura não linear que acaba por definir o filme. Há uma espécie de transposição das características do drama clássico para a narrativa do grande ecrã, uma mestria que Guillermo Arriaga parece ter já demonstrado possuir.<br />
Um elenco fortíssimo (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000234/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">Charlize Theron</span></strong></a>, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2225369/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">Jennifer Lawrence</span></strong></a>, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000107/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">Kim Basinger</span></strong></a>, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0206862/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color:#ffffff;">Joaquim d&#8217;Almeida</span></strong></a>, entre outros) dá vida a um filme que vive das suas personagens e das suas emoções&#8230; culpa, ressentimento, ódio, abandono, amores desfeitos e amores sinceros constroem um puzzle que só no final se completa.</p>
