Savior Bad è un progetto pensato dai designer Kim Hyo Jin e Seol Ah Sun per i paesi in via di sviluppo, in particolare l’Africa, dove è difficile reperire acqua potabile e dove la poca acqua disponibile è imbevibile o inquinata.

Savior, ancora in fase di sperimentazione, si applica all’estremità dei rami degli alberi per trasformare l’umidità delle foglie in acqua potabile. Il procedimento per ricavare acqua è semplice e necessita solo di 3 passaggi fondamentali.

Prima di tutto bisogna trovare un albero a foglia larga ricco di foglie. Una volta individuato l’albero si applica Savior Bud all’estremità di un ramo, come se fosse una pinza gigante, circondano con cura le foglie della parte terminale del ramo. Una volta applicato Savior al ramo, questo funzionerà come specie di serra catturando l’umidità dalle foglie per trasformarla poi in acqua. In circa quattro ore infatti, le foglie avranno rilasciato un quantitativo di acqua pari al contenuto di una tazza di medie dimensioni.

Grazie alla forma di Savior basta poi ruotare la parte inferiore come un rubinetto per rilasciare l’acqua contenuta. Un progetto di design for all estremamente interessante che risolverebbe il problema che affligge l’africa, e non solo, con una spesa decisamente irrisoria. Il procedimento di trasformazione dell’umidità in acqua, inoltre, sembrerebbe non essere assolutamente invasivo o distruttivo per la pianta e per le foglie.

Drinking water is all around us — if we know where to look.  The Giving Tree-inspired Savior Bud designed by Seol Ah Sun and Kim Hyo Jin is a portable device that attaches to tree leaves and slowly collects water.  After four hours, a full cup of water is ready for drinking.

Just turn the handle at the tip of the Savior Bud, and voila, water drips down for consumption.  The device’s silicone rubber body ensures that it stays resistant to heat, cold, and corrosion.  Of course, users still drink at their own peril — the Savior Bud doesn’t include a filter.

No word on how much the Savior Bud might cost, but the device’s designers imagine it will be cheap enough for use in drinking water-starved African countries.

Yay!  One of my favorite couples, Tablo and the pregnant Kang Hye Jung got married today at The Bailey House in Samsungdong.  They kept the wedding small, to family and close friends, and will head off to Europe on their honeymoon.

They have not been shy about their relationship and Tablo has been quick to come out and declare Kang Hye Jung as his dream girl. He recently spoke about his desire to marry her after one week of dating.

Mithra MCed the event and Leessang sang a special song for the couple. Even though it was a small wedding, there were lots of stars in attendance.

Epik High frontman, Tablo tied the knot in a private ceremony with pregnant girlfriend, Kang Hye-jung at the upscale wedding hall, The Bailey House in Samsung-dong on October 26^th. The newlyweds will spend their first night in a hotel and will hop on a plane to Europe tomorrow for their honeymoon.

The couple will return in early November and will set up house in a luxury highrise in Yongsan.

Check out the celebrity guests. As with most Korean weddings, jeans seemed to be acceptable attire (see below: Ha Ji-won’s ripped jeans!) and black is the color of choice.

Anyone else looking forward to the new upcoming SBS talk show Strong Heart (Kang Shim Jang)?

Its hosts are none other than super-popular MC Kang Ho Dong, and super-popular singer/actor/variety show entertainer Lee Seung Gi. Its first episode was taped on the 24th, and will broadcast on October 6th at 11:05 p.m. This first episode had a grand whopping total of 24 guests, and revolves around the idea of its guests engaging in a “talk battle”.

Some of those guests include:

Boom, Yoon Ah (of SNSD), Kim Tae Woo, Baek Ji Young, Seung Ri (of Big Bang), G-Dragon (also of Big Bang), Han Sung Ju, Han Min Kwan, Nancy Lang, Solbi, Ahn Young Mi, Kim Hyo Jin, Moon Jung Hee, Kim Young Ho, MC Mong, Jang Yoon Jung, Yoo Sae Yoon and all three members of Epik High.

They also held a red carpet event to commemorate the first recording (pics can be found behind the cut).

I dunno about the format – 24 guests seem a bit much, and reminds me of Star Golden Bell. How can they get anything really substantial out of their guests when they have so many to concentrate on? Still, I love Kang Ho Dong and have faith in his emceeing abilities (especially when it comes to talk shows), while Lee Seung Gi is just a cutie pie (although I dunno if he was the best choice for co-MC). Besides, I was feeling sad over the cancellation of Ya Shim Man Man Season 2, and this helps to soothe those feelings a bit.

Comedian Jung Hyung Don got married to variety show writer Han Yoo Ra on the 13th. And judging by the pictures that have been released, it was a lovely and joyful occasion for all. Jung Hyung Don looks so cute and happy. Many, many congratulations to him and his bride!

It was, of course, a star-studded wedding, with guests including Jung’s fellow Infinity Challenge members, and popular comedians like Kang Ho Dong and Hyun Young. Singers Bada and Kim Jong Kook sang the congratulatory songs, while comedian Yoo Jae Seok officiated. The happy couple are honeymooning in Hawaii.
