This week Yahoo released its list of the top ten things people used their search engine to find out more about, this year. The results lead me to believe the two main types of people using the Yahoo search engine are men, and teenie booper girls. Here’s how this year’s numbers broke down.

1. Michael Jackson took the number one spot, proving once again that the best thing an artist can do to improve their image and boost album sales is to simply die.

2. The Twilight Saga came at number two, which really makes me wonder if I’m missing out on something great. I’ve heard the books are as addictive as crack, but that still doesn’t mean they’re worth reading. After all, how good can crack be for you, really? I know I freak out when I meet anyone that hasn’t read the Harry Potter series, but something tells me Twilight cannot possibly live up to its hype. And besides, didn’t HBO make this same plot into a TV show?

3. WWE took the three-spot. What can I say? Wrestling is super entertaining and will always have a place in the heart of every man living in the good U.S. of A. The WWE is a total guilty pleasure of mine, but not as much as when it was the WWF. I watch wrestling, maybe, a few times a year, when I happen to catch it, but it always grabs my full attention. I grew up a Hulk-a-manic and was part of the Warrior-nation; it’s in my blood. And for my money, there are no better shit-talkers on the planet than professional wrestlers. Face it; professional wrestling is hands down the longest running, and best, soap opera ever!

4. Megan Fox… When I was telling my wife about this top ten the other night at dinner, a woman sitting next to us asked, “Are you sure it wasn’t ‘Megan Fox naked?’” I’m pretty sure it was, but Yahoo would probably like to pretend that Internet is used for something besides porn and skin shots of celebrities.

5. Moving down the list all the way from last year’s number one spot… Britney Spears. Sorry Britney, it looks like people are much more interested in you loosing your shit, than they are with the shitty music you make.

6. Naruto was number six, and since Yahoo’s search engine sucks, I Googled it find out more. Apparently Naruto is a manga comic. If you don’t know what manga comics are, don’t worry. you’re not alone. According to Wikipedia, magna comics include a broad range of subjects: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, sexuality, and business and commerce, among others. Like most things American’s couldn’t care less about, manga comics are big in Japan.

7. American Idol rolls in at number seven. Maybe I’m just imagining it, but didn’t it come out that the fix was in on this show? The only redeeming quality about this show is that Ellen is now, or is going to be, a judge on the show. Ellen is fabulous, teen-aged-singers that get record contracts from this show and then put out shitty music, are not.

8. Kim Kardashian takes the number eight spot, proving once again, it doesn’t matter that no one knows who you are before your sex tape “accidentally” gets leaked on the Internet, afterwards you’ll be a celebrity. But seriously, did anyone know who they hell she was before she make a sex tape with Moesha’s brother?

9. Of course NASCAR was going to make the top ten. I’d love to make a joke about all of the ignorant rednecks that watch the sport, but one of the most intelligent people I know is a die-hard NASCAR fan. But I think he’s the exception to the rule. It’s safe to say that 99.9% of NASCAR fans think Sarah Palin is a political genius with great values and that global warming is a myth. NASCAR is also one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S.- be afraid, be very afraid.

10. Rounding out the top ten is Runescape, a video game. Never heard of it, but then again I’m not an avid gamer. This game does sound pretty cool though. I wonder if you can get it for Atari?

I started thinking more about this nose surgery for Kim and I thought that the black and white photo showed her natural boobs clearly but not her nose.  I didn’t think it was a good photo to compare her now nose to then because the nose is quite blurry in the photo.  From looking at her sisters and her brother it is odd to me that out of four of them, she has the thinnest perfect nose.  From looking at a picture of a much younger Kim, the tip of her nose is already different and larger there than it is now.  People like to say that they grow into their noses but the nose and ears keep growing throughout a person’s lifespan.  Kourtney Kardashian is very pretty as well.  I posted a picture of her in a bikini as well and her breasts are large but natural looking.  Anyways here are some pictures of Kim, her sisters and her brother.

Where is the rest of the family ? How are ya’ll feeling about Kourtney in Lingeries while with child. It takes a hella confident chick to pull that one off. Maybe this isn’t a Promo for the show, maybe its for something else?? I don’t know.

Looking Good Keep It Up!

Being in the public eye does a number on your self image ( I know personally I’ve lost close to 20lbs in the last 3 months and plan to lose more ), and apparently the pressure has also caused Kim and Khloe Kardashian to get in shape. From what I understand they have been using some supplement called Quick Trim to help them lose the pounds.  Im not sure what this supplement is, but I know both of them look really good.

Kim Kardashian has just recently revealed her surprising (beefy) new bikini-clad figure in a photo posted on Twitter.

“I finally feel I’ve reached my goal!” she tweeted.

The snap was taken during a photo shoot in Miami for Quick Trim, a weight loss product.

And we HATE IT, she now looks like every other bronzed hollywood babe, She used to say she was proud of her curv’s and now she looks like wonder woman on roids.

She must have worked her ass off (literally) Look at those abs!

The search companies released their annual lists on Tuesday as an effort to provide a cultural snapshot of what held the public’s interest over the past year. Jackson topped both Google’s fastest rising and Yahoo’s overall searches, but he was the only commonality between those two Top 10 rankings. After is passing this June.

Google’s Top list- Michael Jackson, Facebook (2), Twitter (4), the New Moon movie (6), Lady Gaga (7), Windows 7 (8), Vietnamese portal dantri.com.vn (9) and Portuguese SMS website Torpedo Gratis. Two social network sites also placed in the Top 10: Spain’s Tuenti (3) and Turkey’s Sanalika (5).

Yahoo’s Top Search List in order-Jackson, Twilight, WWE, Megan Fox, Britney Spears, Japanese anime character Naruto, American Idol, Kim Kardashian, NASCAR and online role-playing game Runescape.

Yahoo said the dominance of pop culture in the searches shows that the Internet is being used largely for entertainment purposes.

Google also released a list of Canada’s fastest-rising searches as part of its “Zeitgeist” rankings, which partly reflect an increasing tendency to use search engines in place of browser bookmarks. On the Canadian list, Jackson barely made the Top 10, ranking ninth overall. The list, in order, was Twitter, Blackberry, Yahoo Mail, the Desjardins financial tool AccèsD, Craigslist, Natasha Richardson, Justin Bieber, New Moon, Michael Jackson and Google Street View.

I’d forgotten how scary that road was at night. Every footstep was followed by another, even the wind sounded suspicious. I had looked back at least a dozen times, expecting to see someone quickly duck into an empty driveway… But I saw nothing. I turned the corner onto an even darker road, realizing I was getting closer to my destination I sped up. My feet crushing the small stones and leaves underneath them, leaving the sound quietly echoing in my mind. Each time I passed a house I found myself peering into the garden, as if I was expecting to find something sitting in the middle of the grass staring back at me. I’d forgotten how scary that road was at night. I sat outside waiting for them, each building darker and emptier than the rest. The trees sounded as if they were speaking to me. I stood against the fence, waiting.

5:42 am. I have to be up @11am to get ready for my psych appointment at 1. Guh I knew I should have gone to sleep earlier. On a happy note, I wrote that thing above, and I had a really good conversation with someone. Glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks the way I do. Move to Blogger, yes or no?

This is what our country cares most about which tells me several things:  We are becoming fat, lazy and gossipy.  Why are our citizens  not searching foreign affairs, the economy, charities, etc?  We care more about drama, sex, drugs, rock & roll, and peoples misfortune.  That is not a sign of a healthy society and does not inspire much hope for the future of this country.

On the marketing front these search results tell us important things about what people/businesses are marketable to pop culture.  If I am interested in creating a commercial I have a good understanding of pop culture interests, if that is my target market and utilize the ideas, people, etc represented in the list above.

Marketing is about connecting the values of your organization to that of your potential client.  If that is true then what are the top ten values of this country?

On this one I would like your feedback!  What does this list give us for marketing insight?
