With 52 percent of builders expecting smaller homes this year, and more homeowners opting to better use their existing space instead of expanding it, how is all that “right-sizing” affecting remodeling design? “The Small Spaces Trend,” a new white paper from home-products marketing agency Kleber & Associates, outlines how the expansion — and more recent contraction — of U.S. home sizes from 1950 to the present “will impact the housing market for years to come.”

“Remodeling with small spaces is seemingly becoming a common trend among homeowners these days,” said Steve Kleber, president of the agency.
