Last-fm per me è una fottuta droga…c’è poco da fare!Scrobblare tutta la musica che ascolto e vedere le statistiche del mio profilo mi fà sentire super felice.Forse perchè sono sempre stato un monomaniaco per la musica,i gruppi e le discografie dei gruppi anche quelli che non cago e non mi piacciono.La musica per me è una droga,una cosa di cui non posso fare a meno e tutti quelli che mi conoscono lo sanno bene.Quindi di conseguenza anche il profilo di Last-fm per me è una mania ma penso di averlo detto numerose volte.Ogni giorno accedo al mio profilo e dò un occhiata alle mie classifiche a quali gruppi salgono o scendono come ascolti.Poi debbo dire che a livello visivo è fatto molto bene anche se diverse modifiche mi avevano fatto storcere il naso all’inizio.Ora mi sono abituato e lo considero quasi perfetto.Ci sono tantissime applicazioni create dai diversi utenti ed è possibile implementare le proprio classifiche all’interno del proprio blog.Insomma una malattia totale che cerco di diffondere a tutti.

Uff…è stata una giornata abbastanza massacrante…che dire mattinata rincoglionimento totale…solite rotture di coglioni da parte dei miei e poi via alla volte di trieste (italiaaaannnaaaa..la la la la) per la manifestazione contro il welfare regionale che discrimina (se ce ne fosse ancora bisogno) gli extracomunitari con una serie di leggi che non permettono l’integrazione…discriminando e non tutelando chi lavora e cerca di mantenere in modo onesto la propria famiglia…ma del resto se uno stato non tutela i propri cittadini..figurarsi…gli altri..vabbè non volevo parlare di politica…alla fine sono arrivato a casa con un mal di panza terriffic dovuto secondo mia madre al brodo…quando si è visto un brodo che fà venire mal di stomaco non si sà…comunque per fortuna mi sono ripreso grazie al mitico buscopan e adesso ho la teeesttaaa leggerraaa e viaggio.Per quello il titolo del post…stò veramente viaggiando..e ultimamente mi capita molto spesso.Faccio veramente una serie di viaggi onirici…che mi permettono di alienarmi ancora di più e che dire si stà piuttosto bene.Comunque la manifestazione è andata bene c’erano 5000 persone e per un martediì di manifestazione è un buonissimo risultato.Con tutte le sigle cosa non da poco..CGIL,CISL e UIL..insomma un miracolo per questo periodo..ma parlavo di viaggi onirici.Ultimamente mi sento veramente in un limbo sospeso…lo zio è andato da una sorte di analista del chackra..mi ha fatto venire in mente di andarci per poi sentirmi dire..stai viaggiando..e io gli direi anche hai ragione!Probabilmente stà condizione dev’essere una deriva interiore per rissolevarmi un pò dal negativismo (fomentato dal black metal) della scorsa settimana.Dalla serie stai un pò nel limbo così ti ripigli dal delirio che hai addosso…devo dire che questa cosa funziona ma ha una controindicazione…la stanchezza..in stì giorni sono più stanco che mai e non ho mai voglia di fare un cazzo.C’è Pamuk che vorrebbe essere letto,miriadi di disegni e progetti da finire…ma proprio un cazzo..anche adesso andrò a dormire…come un durione senza aver fatto un Kayser e per soundtrack a questo stato di torpore dei sensi mi stò ascoltando una serie di gruppi Shoegaze da paura..fantastici…Tipo gli M83 francesi che miscelano shoegaze all’elletronica e i Catherine Wheel di cui ha preso anche un disco ieri…Chrome dove c’è la bellissima hit Crank…oltre a questo consiglio i mitici Slowdive…i God is an Astronaut (da viaggione totale)…e i sempiterni Klimt 1918….Per cospargere l’alloro a Soellner (cantante,chitarrista della band) riporto uno stralcio della sua intervista….mi trovo assolutamente daccordo con te Marco…Eccola di seguito:

L’umore nostalgico è ciò che più caratterizza le canzoni dei Klimt, evidente non solo nei testi ma anche nei minimi dettagli musicali. Cosa ti ispira simili sentimenti?
Mi piace il fatto che la nostra musica abbia un filo conduttore sentimentale, rappresentato dalla nostalgia. Un sentimento che mi affascina molto e che ho recepito da certa dark-wave e da Robert Smith in particolare; le sue erano canzoni splendide, al tempo stesso malinconiche e terribilmente felici. Questa sensazione di piangere ridendo, o viceversa ridere con le lacrime agli occhi, mi ha sempre affascinato e ispira molto una delle suggestioni che sta dietro alla nostra band, il tema della giovinezza, della caducità.

Ascoltare un vostro disco è come sfogliare un album fotografico, una cascata di immagini di memorie e sensazioni. Mi sembra che la vostra musica sia molto influenzata dalle arti visive.
Assolutamente vero, io sono un consumatore istancabile di fotografia e di cinema. “Dopoguerra”, ad esempio, è stato molto ispirato dal neorealismo, da Rossellini, De Sica. Il mio rapporto con l’immagine è profondo e questo si ripercuote anche nella musica: adoro le band che fanno musica “cinematica” come GYBE, Mono, Mogwai, Sigur Ròs. Adoro la musica che lascia spazio totale all’immaginazione, per questo mi sono molto avvicinato al post-rock e sto anche pensando di creare un mio progetto rivolto in questa direzione. Trovo che questi generi siano anche molto congeniali alla musica dei Klimt, ma per noi non è facile muoverci in questo senso, dato che la nostra è una band che vuole restare molto diretta e legata alla forma-canzone. Insomma, siamo pur sempre una band rock ‘n roll, e fieri di esserlo. Ti faccio però l’esempio dei Dredg, un gruppo americano che ci sta influenzando moltissimo per come riesce a unire in maniera molto interessante post-rock e forma canzone; con il nostro prossimo album vorremmo provare a muoverci verso una ricerca sonora di questo tipo.

Sometimes I find it interesting when bands from a tradionally non-English speaking country create a band where the lead sings in English, even though it’s not his first language. This can be seen in the band, Kent, who releases albums in both Swedish and English, and the band seen today, Klimt 1918. Formed in 1999 by brothers Marco and Paolo Soellner after the breakup of their death metal band, Klimt 1918 brings ac ross a very shoegaze with new wave rock sound worked in between the soil.

The perfect phrase I’ve heard for summing up Klimt 1918  is “If Explosions In The Sky added vocals to their music”. And to me, you can’t say better any other way. It’s true, the instrumentals of the bands are fantastic and offer that shoegaze affect that Explosions brings, along with emotional sound of Marco Soellner’s voice hits exactly that phrase. Now I haven’t heard their previous album Dopogurrea, but I’ve read they had a more metal sound in that album, compared to their newest album Just In Case We Never Meet Again, which is more like what I’ve been talking about. To continue what I was saying earlier, and some of you may not agree, but Marco can be hard to understand at first, and this is because English is his second language with the accent carrying over. Don’t fret though, after a few listen everything will be all good. Otherwise, Klimt 1918 is a perfect band to fall deep into your thoughts with and will make you think that way too.

Klimt 1918’s sound can be described as alternative rock with roots in avant-garde metal, featuring consistent darkwave and post-rock influences. The resulting blend is a melodic and melancholic guitar-based rock, combining thick shoegaze-like rhythm-guitar riffs with post-rock-esque atmospheres. Their recent output has consistently shifted towards indie rock, featuring more emphasis on shoegaze and post-rock traits while abandoning entirely their former metal influences.

Più di qualcuno aspettava da tempo che i Klimt 1918 passassero al varo del terzo album, probabilmente il loro, e non solo loro, banco di prova più difficile. Dopo essersi degnamente scrollati di dosso lo status di giovani promesse con il precedente Dopoguerra, discreto platter con qualche nuova idea rispetto al debut Undressed Momento, il quartetto italiano ha deciso di proseguire seguendo la medesima rotta. Solo che, in misura forse ancora maggiore, sembra che il gruppo si sia nutrito in questi anni di latte e post-rock a colazione.  E come tutti certo sapranno, il latte fa crescere bene le ossa. L’ascolto dinanzi al quale ci troviamo rimane comunque profondamente ancorato agli stilemi della forma canzone, con delle parti vocali meglio scritte ed interpretate, rispetto al passato, dal vocalist Marco Soellner. Il sottotitolo dell’album potrebbe incuriosire molti, e si riferisce proprio a quel periodo di fruizione e veicolazione musicale tramite il supporto dell’audiocassetta. In maniera più che evidente questo oggetto rappresenta un simbolo per i musicisti del gruppo, richiama tutto un bagaglio di ricordi, gesti e sensazioni appartenenti ad anni ormai passati, i Klimt 1918 giocano dunque a carte scoperte con la nostalgia, riuscendo a creare un’opera tutto sommato fluida, senza troppi alti né bassi nel complesso, con brani degni di nota (tra cui The Graduate, Skygazer o la stessa title track). Meritevole d’encomio è il lavoro svolto sugli arrangiamenti e sulla produzione del comparto chitarristico, ricco e con abbondante uso di riverberi ovattati nei momenti d’intensa carica nostalgica.
Nel complesso un onestissimo platter rock dalla presa rapida, ben curato e rifinito, che non ricade nel già sentito, piuttosto ci accompagna verso un piacevole gioco a rincorrere e svelare quel tale sound o quel tale stile che può portare la nostra mente a ricollegarli con altri gruppi; che siano più quelli della scena shoegazer, quelli della new wave, i Katatonia dell’ultimo periodo, i Novembre o chissà chi altro, sarete voi a deciderlo se vorrete ascoltare questo album. Insomma, ancora una volta Klimt 1918 alfieri italiani del post-modernismo.

It finally happened. The Klimt 1918 concert in Cluj took place last Saturday (11th of October). Needless to say I’ve been waiting for this event for quite some time now (about 2 years ago I was daydreaming how good it would be to see the guys performing live).
They are really nice and talkative people! Energetic and friendly, awesome on stage! I’m glad I had the chance to interact a little with them.

I wish they would have played a little bit more, but hey, they’re human too.

Trăind şi eu nerăbdarea clownului de a-i vedea pe Klimt 1918 live, mă tretzesc făcând playlisturi în minte cu piesele ce mi-ar plăcea mie să le cânte.

Probabil o să ies mulţumită vis a vis de aspectu ăsta indiferet de ce hotărăsc baieţii, având în vedere că îmi plac toate pisele lor (mai mult sau mai puţin, evident), dar totuşi, nu pot să nu sper că o să cânte Nightdriver, o veche obsesie/iubire/wahteverpositive a mea, şi probabil prima piesa de la ei pusă obsesiv pe repeat.

Nightdriving it is one of my favourites. Streets are empty, air is cleaner and my mind rides far away towards memories. The city fits with this flow and becomes an ensemble of lights and apparitions. In these moments, one rejoins with himself and the grief of a loss turns into elegy. Driving is therapeutic: in its way, refers to the idea of post war as the overcoming of pain and as convalescence. Maybe it is the reason because sometimes we desire to stretch out the journey and keep suspense intact

One of my all time favourite bands, Klimt 1918, are gonna have a concert in my city in October (event here). Of course I’m very anxious to see them performing live, I’m making playlists in my head and hoping they’ll sing certain songs.

I’m pretty sure, though, I’m gonna love them no matter what they’re gonna play especially cause I like all their songs (well, in different amounts, of course, but still.)
These past days I’ve been hung up on their Parade of Adolescence.
This guys are among the bands with the greatest lyrics ever. The more I listen to them the more I love them.

The new album will be released in June and I can hardly wait. I’m pretty sure that Just In Case We’ll Never Meet Again(Soundtrack for the cassette generation) it’s gonna be another great one.

I went out this evening to buy some stuff and the weather was great.

I could feel the smell of spring in the air. I love when the seasons change and I can feel it in the air. I just hope it will not be a false alarm – like it happened a week or so ago and then it snowed – and in a few weeks I’ll see flowers and green everywhere

Reseña/Review

Después de una introducción bizarra que ocupa un track (de un minuto, pero al fin de cuentas un track)… todavía no sabes qué esperar de esta banda italiana.

Y lo que viene arranca con Pale Song, nada pálida, un track que en primer lugar (y desde el booklet se notaba) se cantaría en inglés. En una combinación de nu-metal con pop rock y goth rock, manejo que mantienen en Parade Of Adolescence, con un manejo incluso más pop

Las voces en off en italiano ya meten algo distinto en el cantar y cambia bastante el tono de la canción We Don’t Need No Music (que sin embargo sigue en el mismo tenor que las anteriores, aunque más pop que las primeras). Un buen track oscuro, casi triste que en los últimos dos minutos y medio incluye esos elementos que parecerían venir de unos blink’s europeos. Extraña combinación que parece que has escuchado anteriormente, pero quizá la falta de contacto con bandas que de plano no están en mi lista como Limp Bizkit o los mismos Blink-182 no me permite comparar o indicar si están en la misma onda siquiera. De entrada se oye bien… Y no se oye americano, y no se oye en una onda happy… 

Undressed Momento, es bastante más oscuro, quizá con influencia (como lo mencionan) de Opeth, pero en su mismo estilo goth pop rock con toques de hard y nu-metal pincelados aquí y allá… los ecos de guitarra presentes desde la segunda canción agregan un buen toque y el disco se escucha bien con el agregado de teclados que generan un ambiente y profundidad distintos. Bueno el cambio a bajo y redoble de la batería. Buen track, uno de mis dos favoritos.

That Girl arranca más agresiva – a diferencia de lo anterior- y se mantiene en un mood menos oscuro (a pesar de la letra y lo que se está narrando). Quizá uno de los tracks más predecibles en el disco, sin dejar de ser bueno. Naif Watercolour, sin embargo tiene un toque aunque menos agresivo, más enigmático, interesante y se convierte en uno de los mejores tracks del disco: noten los cambios, el sonido pop que quiere ser combinado a fuerza con riffs hard y que, extrañamente, les sale bastante bien.

Cierra el disco con los tracks más “metalizados” del disco, por mantener un beat contundente y ruidoso de principio a fin, aunque If Only You… maneja un mood de nuevo gris y melancólico y la voz parecería no concordar con lo que sucede con las guitarras y, de nuevo, extraen un buen track. Stalingrad Theme, por otro lado se vuelve el track más agresivo del disco y que podría darle, en parte el adjetivo de metal a este disco. Un excelente track para el cierre: mi otro favorito del disco (escuchen el manejo de la batería y de nuevo esa mezcla extraña mezcla de lo que pasa con la voz y lo que sucede atrás, sobre todo al escuchar los silencios).

Después de escuchar el disco, como es costumbre, rastreé la red buscando otras opiniones y me llevé una sorpresa: el disco anda circulando entre los medios metaleros… En mi humilde opinión este NO ES un disco de metal. Es un buen disco de power pop combinado, como dije con nu-metal (que normalmente aparecerá al final, en el climax de cada track). No esperen el metal y mejor prepárense para un buen disco de goth (o bien de rock) sin la agresividad de las bandas con las que se intenta relacionar a esta buena banda italiana. Y cuidado, podría ser un buen guilty pleasure para alguno que otro metalero de cepa.
