Krohnien vihermafiaa edustava Minerva “Kelkka”  Krohn on kipuamassa (vastoin aikaisemmin ilmoittamiaan periaatteita) poliittisen virkanimityksen kautta ns. kultaiselle oksalle.Vai sanoisimmeko mielummin, että Minervan kelkka suuntaa kohti suojatyöpaikkaa.

Kunnallisvaalit voittaneet  kokoomus ja vihreät jakoivat pääkaupunkiseudun johtopaikat keskenään viime  tammikuussa parhaaseen perinteiseen poliitiseen maan tapaan.

Tuon sopimuksen perusteella  helsinkiläisestä Suvi Rihtniemestä (kok) tulee Helsingin seudun liikenne -kuntayhtymän (HSL) ja espoolaisesta Raimo Inkisestä (vihr) Helsingin seudun ympäristöpalvelut -kuntayhtymän (HSY) toimitusjohtaja.

HSL alkaa hoitaa vuodenvaihteesta alkaen pääkaupunkiseudun joukkoliikennettä. HSY:hyn yhdistetään pääkaupunkiseudun kaupunkien vesilaitokset ja jätehuolto.

Nämä HSL:n ja HSY:n johtopaikat ovat edustukselliseen kansanvaltaamme olennaisesti kuuluvia poliittisia (palkinto)virkoja. Pääkaupunkiseudun kolmanneksi suurimmaksi puolueeksi kuntavaaleissa jäänyt Sdp ei purnannut (pelinpolitiikan sääntöjen mukaisesti) kokoomuksen ja vihreiden sopimusta.

Jokainen varmaan ymmärtää, että tällaiset ilman soveltuvuutta ja edes teoreettista ammattitaitoa vailla oleville poliitisille pyrkyreille jaetut virat eivät juuri edistä yhteiskunnan hyvää, eivätkä etenkään sen kestävää kehitystä.

Jokainen ymmärtää varmaan myös sen, että jos Suomessa siirryttäisiin suoraan demokratiaan, nämä kytkyt ja poliittiset suojatyöpaikat katoaisivat rasittamasta yhteiskunnan kuluja ja lisäämästä oikeiden virkamiesten työkuormaa. Hallinto muuttuisi asteittain kohti todellista kansalaisten yhdenvertaisuutta.

Tämä idea suorasta kansanvallasta ei kuitenkaan ole tähän mennessä kelvannut suurille puolueille, koska ne menettäisivät vallan lisäksi otteensa yhteiskuntaa. Nyt näyttää siltä, että vihreistäkin on tulossa aito suuri puolue.

Vihreät vaativat nimittäin jo saamansa palkintoviran lisäksi  vielä täysin uuden johtajanpestin perustamista itselleen Uudenmaan liittoon.

Tämä Uudenmaan liitto on alueellinen 21 kunnan yhteisö, jonka tärkeimpiä tehtäviä on laatia alueelle maakuntakaava – asia jonka viivyttämisessä ja yhteiskunnallisten hankkeiden torpedomisessa vihreät ovat aikaisemminkin kunnostautuneet. Muistatte varmaan kuinka kalliiksi vihreiden toimet tulivat yhteiskunnallisesti katsoen Vuosaaren satamaprojektin viivyttelyssä?

Uudenmaan liiton tärkeimpiä viimeaikaisia toimia ovat olleet Kehittyvien Maakuntien Suomen kautta korruptioskandaaliin liittyneen kohuliikemies Toivo Sukarin Ideaparkin torppaus ja  uuden läsnimetron linjaus.

Tärkeä elin siis.

Vihreät perustelevat tätä vaatimaansa uutta johtajanpostia sillä, että liittoa ovat pyörittäneet  kokoomuslainen maakuntajohtaja ja hänen  demareista tuleva varamiehensä.

Se mikä asiasta tekee erikoisen mielenkiintoisen on sellainen tosiasia, että tämän ihqun ja uuden  poliittisen viran perustamista vaativat nimenomaan vihreät. Vihreillä kun on aikaisemmin ollut otsaa moralisoida edustukselliseen kansanvaltaan kuuluvaa poliittista kulttuuria. Nyt näyttää siltä, että vihreät ovat kuorineet vesimeloninsa ja vihreän kuoren alta on paljastunut raadollinen punainen jakopuolue.

Nyt vihreät ovat päässeet siihen, missä esimerkiksi keskusta, kokoomus ja SDP ovat olleet jo vuosia – avoimeen omaneduntavoitteluun ja yhteiskunnallisten asioiden sotkemiseen ja uhraamiseen sen varjolla.

Yhteiskunnan edun uhraus ja sotkeminen ovat jo alkaneet, sillä tämä vaatimus uudesta johtajasta on sotkenut täysin Uudenmaan liiton suunnitelmat.

Nykyisen taloudellisen taantuman saapuessa myös Uudenmaan liitto joutui uuden tilanteen eteen.  Liitossa tehtiin tarpeelliset johtopäätökset . Siellä  mietittiin uutta organisaatiota koko vuoden 2008 ajan. Lopulta organisaatiota karsittiin (ihan fiksusti) vähentämällä päälliköitä ja johtajia – siis poliittisia suojatyöpaikkoja.

Ketään ei kuitenkaan irtisanottu, mutta esimerkiksi eläkejärjestelyiden avulla talosta katosi kymmenkunta työpaikkaa.  Samassa prosessissa päätettiin myös, ettei  minkäänlaisia uusia virkoja perusteta.

Vihreiden vaatimuksesta Uudenmaan liittoon aletaan nyt sitten kuitenkin (vastoin entisiä päätöksiä ja vihreiden julkistamia periaatteita)  etsiä  uutta johtajaa ensi vuoden alussa. Muodollisesti haku on avoin, mutta käytännössä paikalle valitaan helsinkiläinen Minerva Krohn.

Minerva saa ihan oikeita alaisia pomputettavakseen, työhuoneen Uudenmaan liiton toimistosta ( Aleksanterinkadun arvokkaasta ympäristöstä) sekä matamin habitukseen ja arvomaailmaan ilmeisen erottamattomasti kuuluvan virka-auton kuljettajineen.

Minervan palkaksi on kaavailtu  6 000–7 000 euroa kuussa. Eihän tuollainen rääpesumma ole sinänsä  mitään ministeritasoa, mutta ehkä Minerva sillä jotenkin pärjää.

Minervan tuleva titteli on kuitenkin vielä auki. Se saattaa olla  strategiajohtaja, kehitysjohtaja tai kehittämisjohtaja. Se voi olla myös (sic!) muutosjohtaja. Muutoksen aikoina tarvitaan muutosjohtajia jo pelkän muutoksen vuoksi. Johtaja joka tapauksessa.

Minervan tuleva titteli on siis vielä  epäselvä. Näin siksi, että  kukaan ei tiedä, mitä uusi johtaja tekee. Tai mitä ihmettä Uudenmaan liitto sitten uudella (poliittisella)  johtajallaan oikastaan todellisuudessa tekee?

Tärkeintä lienee kuitenkin se, että Minervan kelkka karauttaa turvalliseen suojatyöpaikkaan ja vihreät pääsevät sotkemaan muille sopivaa yhteistä kaavoituspolitiikkaa  – maksoi se sitten meille veronmaksajille ihan  mitä tahansa.

Historia młodego smoka, który czekał na bohatera…
Był sobie zwykły chłopak, mieszający niedaleko wioski Henesys.
Odkrył jajo smoka, które zobaczył we śnie.
I tak zaczyna się historia Mistrza Smoków (Dragon Master).
Na początku, Evan oraz smok nic nie wiedzieli.
Ale wraz z wzrostem młodego smoka, siła Evana zaczęła się powiększać.

Plusy:
Jest kombinacją ataków ataków typu: Fire, Ice oraz Lightning.
Pozwala to graczowi trenować na mapkach odpowiednich dla Fire Mage oraz Ice Mage.
Minusy:
W przeciwieństwie do Priestowego Bahamutha, smok Evana atakuje tylko w stronę, w którą zwrócony jest gracz. Tak więc jeśli Twoja twarz spogląda na lewo, smok nie zaatakuje potworów na prawo.

I just completed a post on my other blog, Filipinos in America, about Tagaytay and Pagsanjan, Paete, and Pakil in Laguna.  Please go there so I don’t have to rewrite anything.  In this post, I feel like concentrating on Pinoy food — not as a culinary adventure, but as simple, ordinary food that I enjoy and, in general, miss.

This feeling of wanting to talk about food began when I was writing about Tagaytay.  I remember that off the ridge highway, Tagaytay had a public market that featured fresh beef, Tagaytay being a beef-growing area.  Obviously, demand for the beef they sold evolved into demand for cooked food…some sort of “specialty” that people would flock there for.  What better “specialty” than bulalo?

Bulalo: beef and beef marrow soup with assorted vegetables. Served with patis and calamansi on the side.

Bulalo!  Here in the States, sometimes referred to as a member of the “KMS” food family.  The “Killing Me Softly” family of fine foods includes, among others, lechon and lechon kawali, piniritong pork chop Pinoy style (with the skin on, deep-fried) and chicharon.  Oh, what the heck.  My father-in-law always said “Walang ganito sa Loyola,” ignoring the admonitions of my mother-in-law and his children.  Imagine steaming bulalo on a cold night, the bone marrow melting soothingly on your palate.  What could be better?  Certainly not any of the Campbell or Progresso soups.

About three weekends ago, we went to visit my Ate Eden, a cousin who’s a retired veterinarian who lives in Fountain Valley.  We went specifically to have lunch at Mami King, which is a Pinoy restaurant serving Chinese dishes, the most popular of which is mami’t siopao supposedly like the original Ma Mon Luk.

Remembering Ma Mon Luk in Cubao always brings back memories; I can still remember that row of stores across the street from Stella Maris in Cubao. Commander Drug (there was always one within a few steps of Mercury Drug), Mercury Drug, Manila COD, Robina roasted chicken, Little Quiapo, a Chinese-owned watch and jewelry store, and Aguinaldo’s department store.  (The Aguinaldo’s spot was eventually taken over by the first McDonald’s in the Philippines.)

I remember visiting Ma Mon Luk or Ferino’s Bibingka after shows (now known as “concerts”) in Araneta Coliseum, or after playing mini-golf in Green Acres next to the Coliseum.  It was in Araneta Coliseum that American performers…uhhhmmm…performed.

Bibingka at Ferino's was to be enjoyed whole year 'round...not only at Christmas.

Ma Mon Luk was mami and siopao territory.

Ferino’s was “my spot” for bibingka.  Served hot and steaming, margarine (never butter!) sprinkled with sugar dripping from the sides, grated coconut piled high, kesong puti covering the top — all sitting in banana leaf wrap.  Ma Mon Luk, on the other hand, was “home base” for the Chinese noodle soup called mami, served with siopao, meat-filled buns.

Pinoy pork barbecue -- the best.

I always had bakya taste.  Everyone told me that.  I preferred pork barbecue from Baclaran’s Barbecue Plaza over kebobs at the Hyatt or some other five-star hotel.  I bought kropeck from roving popcorn/kropeck/cotton candy stands in Dewey Boulevard (now Roxas Boulevard).  I bought taho and penoy from itinerant vendors.  I ate lumpia sariwa on the sidewalks of Divisoria.  I savored tilapia and dalag from the makeshift restaurants of

Dalag: my favorite freshwater fish. It usually came from the esteros of Binondo.

Estero.  I preferred talangka to the rich man’s crab and lobster.  I loved (and still do) tuyo and daing — even the US version of daing called Jeprox.  I made special trips to the front of FEU hospital (then) to buy turon, bananaque, camoteque and adobong mani.  Yes, I was bakya.  I still am.

I even miss Pinoy treats, snacks and holiday dishes.  Hopia from Polland (yes…double “L” — not the country).  Champoy from Bee Tin.  Chinese ham from Echague.  Taho.  Halo-halo from Little Quiapo. Melon (cantaloupe strings in iced melon juice).  Lumpiang sariwa from the sidewalks of Divisoria.  Even sundot kulangot from Baguio.

Remember all these goodies...

Yes…bakya food is good food….

Today i finished this wall in Bushwick (thanks Cern) which the city has kindly renamed: “East Williamsburg” to make all the potential renters feel safe. My friend was in the corner store here recently and heard some locals call this subway stop “the ATM machine” (where they make some extra money robbing potential renters). Welcome to Bushwick.

In the 2nd flic you can see some RIP memorabilia for what looks like a child who was hit by a car.

Spot Kms also did a nice new piece around the corner.

After checking out some videos on Plymouth booting on Fedora, I wanted to try this out. Luckily someone has already created an ebuild It’s pretty easy to set up as the ebuild installs everything you need to get it running (including ‘dracut’ wich really simplifies initrd creation)… that is except KMS because it’s still experimental. But that is in the works and seems to be running on most intel and radeon chipsets out there. Nvidia (Nouveau) will be supported somewhere in the future.

Currently using a Fjuitsu-Siemens AMILO Pa 2510 (could not find an official page).

Add this to your portage overlay http://bugs.gentoo.org/274065 and merge. Then run ‘plymouth-set-default-theme spinfinity’ to set the default theme.

Then you’ll need to install a kernel with KMS support. (>= 2.5.31)

NOTE: You’ll need xorg-server-1.6, mesa-7.3, libdrm-2.4 (-9999 ?), xf86-video-ati-6.12 (Or greater, preferably from GIT) to get X running with KMS. (I’m using libdrm-9999 and xf86-video-ati-9999  from the X11 portage overlay)

Enable KMS (Kernel Modesetting)

Plymouth requires KMS support in kernel (If not enabled you’ll get a boring text splash). This works flawlessly on my Radeon Mobile X1200 (Radeon Xpress 1200?) (ATI Technologies Inc RS690M)

I first tried 2.6.32-rc5-git3 but reverted to 2.6.31-gentoo-r4 as I got it working there.

Compile DRM as a module

Kernel and init image

Compile and install the kernel and run ‘dracut’ to create initrd image.

Grub

Remove any ‘vga’ arguments from kernel line and add ‘quiet splash’. (Note: I use grub 2, so config file might differ from yours)

Fixes

To fix problems with Plymouth hanging and/or XDM is slow on startup i added this to my /etc/conf.d/local.start :

This script simply kills plymouth daemon and changes to virtual console number 7 (Where XDM stars). It will only do this if the daemon is running.

Result

Works perfectly at native resolution (1280×800@60) and  switching between console and X is now instant I haven’t noticed any slowdowns in X after enabling KMS. Booting seems to be the same (Haven’t checked in bootchart yet).

Problems

I haven’t got Plymouth working during reboot yet, and it’s being killed during the start up because it seems to halt the init process… so it’s not perfect. I’ll solve this later.
