Oooh I love how this vest turned out. I orderd some Peace Fleece this fall (the grey background is called “Father’s Gray”) with the intentions of making a vest for my father-inlaw. I wanted something a bit sophisticated but also a color pattern. I am very pleased with my results!! The pattern for this vest is in progress and hopefully I’ll have it done soon.

It worked up very quickly since it is knit in the round with steeked front and armholes. The ribbing edges were done last.

These photos aren’t the best – can’t wait to photograph it on Sean!!

Fair Isle hand knit vest

The buttons are from a jacket that I had ages ago. . .when the jacket was worn thin and I retired it to the trash, I saved these nice metal buttons.

Hand knit fair isle vest

Look for the pattern in the near future!

So, you might remember this post a while back where a fella had asked if I could make a bikini? Well

So, you might remember this post a while back where a fella had asked if I could make a bikini? Well, it took a while to find cotton to do it with, and then I like..forgot :s The fella got back to me yesterday and asked how it was going. Oopsie. So then I made it. Thankfully I remembered how I’d done the sample and it went on fine from that, however, when I took photos of the completed bikini, I saw that the bra parts were different sizes! I’m like..’what?’ Have no idea how that happened. So this morning I made a matching one. Here are the pics I took yesterday.

The difference is noticeable to me. This is not a bikini for public bathing by any means.

And the leggings? Man..I was all happy about not needing the lifeline on the 2nd leg, thinking that I’d ‘gotten it’. Finished it all off and went to line it up with the 1st leg and start on the bum…only to find that the 2nd leg was like an inch too short! It took a LOT of peering and counting and moving life lines to ascertain where I’d stuffed up. Nope, wasn’t all those increase parts. It was the ankle. Yep…some 60 odd rows back. Some how, here …“20th row: k17, k2tog, knit to end (30sts)
Ankle Area *
Knit 8 rows without shaping
Leg
1st-4th row: knit across without shaping…” I skipped the ankle part altogether. And it wasn’t in a place where I could fudge a few rows to make it right either. I think I will be forever grateful to the life line site I found the other day that shows how to put one in existing work :s So now I have to make the right leg again.

I also spent some time the other day playing with different increase methods. Will make another post for that.

Well, now I’m about to go make another bikini, in orange. It seems they sell well. Pattern. There’s a few bikini patterns in CPC. I like mine

I finally tried Cat Bordhi’s method of casting on and knitting a mobius the long way. (as opposed to the short way and having to graft a seam)

I learned from her video and then found her gifted pattern on her web site. I adjusted the pattern because this yarn I’m using knits at a smaller gauge.

This multi color mobisu measures 32″ and I knit it on size US 6 needles. The yarn is from Blackberry Hills about 3 years ago at Yarn Over.

I also changed the edge pattern from what Cat did. This pattern was lots of fun, easy to do once I got past the first 2 rows, and didn’t take long.

This was the perfect project to knit while walking in the dog park.

I’m posting some of the Asgard line creations for sale; but as those itens are OOAK [one of a kind]! Once one is sold, there is no other like it! The Daisy Comb is in the picture, if you want more details, clic on it!

I found this great kniting manual with great tips of hoe to size and kind of kniting that you wish doing. Now, the less usefull stuff of my week; ThisIsPhotoBomb is a great blog with some realy funny photobombers [mainly butts, but that's ok] ! The VideoBomb from the Portuguese network is also fantastic!

Her kommer en liten bildekavalkade.

my first knited sock

Isn't it pretty?

I have never finished a whole sock before, so I’m quite proud. And I’m really pleased with the result. The pattern is from Garnstudio.com. The yarn is Norwegian; PT5 Sport. Now I just have to finish the other one…

I finished the baby blanket, and knited a little hat.

I'm really pleased with the colours

The blanket is finished, it’s about 90×90 cm. I bought too much yarn, so I knited a hat as well. It’s a “devil hat” after a pattern by Gro. I still have to block them, and the hat needs some sort of ribbon in each side.

I also started my babette, it’s green. I love green! I think I will do it in double size, but I’ll have to see when I’ve come a bit further. It will be in all kinds of green. I have about 14 colours now, but I think I will add another 7 or 8. I’m using different alpacca yarns, and alpacca silk blends. And baby wool. It will be super soft, warm and greeeeen!

It took nearly a year, but I have finally overcome the trauma following a frogging event and have picked up Na Craga again. Na Craga, for the uninitiated, is a heavily cabled sweater similar to Aran sweaters. Last year I was cruising along – nearly finished with both front and back pieces - when something caught my attention. The front and back looked different. Well, to make a long story short, I forgot to switch needles at the ribbing and the two pieces did not match. Hoping against hope I brought it to my LYS to see if one of the knitting gurus in residence could figure a go-around. Shortly thereafter I came out with a large ball of yarn and one half of a sweater.

So, in the basket it went – and stayed there for nearly a year. But I’m over it. I’ve dealt with it. I’ve picked it up again with the hope that I will be wearing it this fall. And, unless I finish this sweater, I have vowed not to start another (major) project.

Of course, the definition of “major” is open to interpretaion…….

another bone chilling day outside, i stayed home. snug in my house, huddled under my blanket i made big progress on the beaded scarf. i had been working on it a little bit each night this week and i am now two thirds of the way done, hopefully by next sunday it will be finished.

speaking of finished, the playoffs are over and we are headed for the superbowl! i can hardly stand the wait! today’s game against the baltimore ravens was exciting, every first down, every point scored was a hard fought battle for both sides and that just makes great football. my hat is off to the ravens, they played a tough game. this was the third match up this season, and both previous games were close, the steelers beat the ravens by a mere three points at the first match up in september, and by four in december.

hines ward suffered a knee injury early on in the game, hopefully he will be back in time for the superbowl, not so much for the team’s sake, but for his own. hines ward is a team player and never sets himself apart as a “star.” although i think the steelers chances are much better with than without him, hines ward is not the type of person to seek out the spotlight or make it all about him. for hines ward, it’s all about the team, that alone makes him one of my favorite players.

it seems every season there’s someone else that just captures my heart, this year it was troy polamalu, climbing over the line of scrimmage to take flacco down and sack the quarterback. he made plays, made things happen and never let up, intercepting passes, blocking pass, taking out the qb, he was in it, and he played hard. the big play of the game, if not the season, polamalu intercepted the ball on the ravens forty yard line and ran it in for a touchdown.

february first the steelers will face the cardinals at superbowl XLIII (43). the steelers have been to the superbowl six times and have brought home five rings, let’s go for number six!

Okay, so I decided that everyone has their own blog, so I must have my own. I was thinking the other day that I am one of those people that think that I don’t have very much to offer the world. Well, after listening to a very good book on CD, “You matter more than you think.” I have decided that everyone has something to offer the world. I am a foster parent to some very good kids, I have taught several people to knit and I love my family beyond measure. I was contemplating a pair of chopsticks. Lonely, useless chopsticks. Most people in our country, unless they have grown up eating with them on a consistent basis, have no idea how to use these. Me, in my infinite observation of all things knitting, (yes kids I know I am obsessed) realized that these things can be used for something other than struggling to pick up a little grain of rice. I wanted so bad to wash them off, (because now that I can knit, I can actually use them to eat with!) and grab a ball of my delicious yarn and start casting on another work in progress. So it occurred to me that just because something does not live up to what it was meant for, what we believe God has designed us for, that does not mean that it does not hold value or merit our attention.

AND THIS HAS MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE IN MY FEELINGS TOWARDS MYSELF. WHAT A GIFT TO FIND IN A CHEAP PAIR OF CHOPSTICKS…WELCOME TO MY BLOG. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT.

O.o

I didn’t have much pleasure though.

Well, it’s still Britney. I’m kind of amused that she could do a not-so-rubbish – a.k.a.: ‘listenable’ – music whatsoever.

In spite of this, what about the anime thingy? Was that really necessary?

And when I thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse.

Bah~

Today – or should I say yesterday – I tried to knit a small scarf for BJD.

I failed miserably.

At least I tried! Maybe tomorrow I’ll manage to do it. Wish me luck!

And I got back to my sewing classes, yay!

http://leblogdelavieenrouge.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/lartiste-fait-feu-de-tout-bois/

http://leblogdelavieenrouge.wordpress.com/2007/11/08/ticotons-dans-les-bois/

Question: avez-vous la main verte?

From Amazon:
The beachside knitting shop Malibu & Ewe is the perfect place for L.A.’s hip young crowd to enjoy colorful yarn and intimate conversation. For personal chef Nikki Carmichael, it could be the softest place to land if her new job falls through. Working for magazine writer Jay Buchanan has come with some strange conditions—like pretending to be his girlfriend. As for Jay, he finds himself drawn to the kitchen, where he’s intrigued by his sexy cook’s ability to withstand the heat between them. And now he thinks it’s time to turn up the flames.

This is the first book in a new trilogy by Christie Ridgway. Nikki’s had a hard life. Her mother died at an early age and her father wasn’t particularly warm towards her. Now the only career she has ever wanted is being compromised by a bum knee. The job working for Jay Buchanan come at just the right time. The chemistry between these two is Hot, Hot, Hot. Even though Jay has given up women for the year he finds himself drawn to Nikki and wanting to get past the brick wall she keeps around herself. I loved the atmosphere in the book. The laid back southern California vibe was great. And Cassandra, the owner of the Malibu and Ewe, is a very interesting character. I can’t wait to read the next two books in the series. This is a great read for lounging out by the pool or relaxing in on the beach (or just hanging out inside with the AC, which might come in handy when the book gets hot).

Yes it’s looking crafty! I moved the last few bits in today so it’s definitely ‘my room’ now. I will allow the occasional visitor though.

I must say, I feel quite inspired now that I can see all my stash, which incidentally is nowhere near as obscene as I originally thought! Not quite all of it is visible here though.

And I’ve even got somewhere cosy to sit. Right next to my shelf of knitting books. Bliss!

I’ve still got some prettyfying to do as the walls look a little bare, but I’ll get that sorted over the next few weeks. Talking of the next few weeks, we’re going to Florida on the 18th May. If any readers know of any yarny must-see’s give me a shout please!
