MADRID, Nov 26, 2009 (AFP) – Cristiano Ronaldo ended two months of injury torment with a 20-minute appearance as Real Madrid put one foot in the Champions League knockout phase with a 1-0 Group C home win over FC Zurich on Wednesday.

A 21st minute goal from Argentine Gonzalo Higuain secured a narrow victory for Real who now lead the group, two points ahead of AC Milan who drew 1-1 with Marseille, and need just a point in the final game at Marseille to secure qualification.

“I am scoring some goals which is nice but the most important thing is we are winning,” said Higuain. “This win boosts our chances of qualifying for the next phase of the Champions League and also gives us confidence for the Barcelona game at the weekend.”

Ronaldo, top-scorer in this season’s Champions League with four goals in two games, came on in the 69th minute after eight weeks out with an ankle injury and is now ready for ‘El Clasico’ against Barcelona on Sunday.

The Zurich match was a landmark game for Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who was making his 100th Champions League appearance putting him third in the all-time list led by captain Raul on 129.

Just four minutes into the match Brazilian Kaka showed quick feet to create a shooting chance and his left-footed drive was tipped over.

Zurich had caused a major upset by beating AC Milan 1-0 on their own patch but were cautious at the Santiago Bernabeu putting numbers behind the ball and playing on the counter attack.

Real probed and got the early breakthrough they craved on 21 minutes with Kaka stealing possession and threading a pass to Higuain who finished with aplomb to enhance his claim for a starting place against Barcelona.

Xabi Alonso, celebrating his 28th birthday, almost scored his first Real goal with his 26th minute drive pushed wide by goalkeeper Johnny Leoni.

A training ground routine almost provided the second for Real with Higuain cutting a corner back to the edge of the penalty area and thundering a volley against the post in the 36th minute.

Zurich had offered little and a decent long distance shot from Alexandre Alphonse was their only effort of note but Casillas always looked in control.

After the break Real went in search of a second goal while Zurich continued to offer little from an attacking point of view.

Ronaldo warmed up on the touchlines to draw applause from the home crowd.

However, Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, playing for his future at the club, was the first substitution, replacing Alvaro Arbeloa close to the hour mark.

Real were struggling to create chances and Zurich grew in confidence with the impressive Alphonse causing some problems with his running from deep.

After 69 minutes Real coach Manuel Pellegrini delighted the home crowd by introducing Ronaldo – missing for the past ten games – with Raul coming off.

Ronaldo, who showed some nice touches, came through the match unscathed which was the most important thing from Real’s point of view.

The former Manchester United man almost scored in the final minute after a good one-two with Esteban Granero but his left-footed shot lacked the power.

All in all the second half display was below-par from Real and they will have to raise their game for treble winners Barcelona on Sunday.

Super Junior 05 was the predecessor of Super Junior consisting of 12 members excluding KyuHyun. It was said that Super Junior 05 would be a rotational group and the next project would be Super Junior 06 where the company would choose members who would graduate and leave the group to make space for other trainees. Instead, the idea was dropped and a 13th member was added into the group which was KhyuHyun.

TWINS(Kock Out) was a actually a cover song from Triple Eight. It was said that they were going to release a CD single for the song. But then the digital singe was released first then instead of a physical CD single, they released a physical Album from the group.

Suzanne Somers

In one of home shopping’s hottest stories this year, Somers left HSN after more than a dozen years there and joined ShopNBC to sell apparel, beauty jewelry and nutritional items.

“We’re very pleased with the sales results of Suzanne and the products that Suzanne has brought to us,” ShopNBC CEO Keith Stewart said during a third-quarter conferece call Wednesday.

She has even succeeded in bringing in new eyeballs to ShopNBC.

“In fact, she has a very high new-customer count for the sector where she operates, primarily beauty and fitness and apparel,” Stewart said. “Most recently in her last visit, 32 percent of her orders came from new customers. For someone that has been in the industry for so long, that’s an amazing statistic in itself.”

Shortly after debuting on ShopNBC in September, best-selling author Somers became the center of a storm of controversy over her new book on alternative treatments for cancer, “Knockout: Interviews With Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer, And How To Prevent Getting It In The First Place.”

But there was apparently no blow-back on ShopNBC, which believes Somers will draw an audience.

“We also anecdotally believe that Suzanne brings tremendous viewership opportunities,” Stewart said. “That’s how we pull in new customers. When you see Suzanne on the air, you stop. You want to listen to her. She’s a very, very bright woman. So we’re pleased to have Suzanne aboard.”

When investor asked if ShopNBC had offered any special incentives or stock to Somers to get her to come over.

Stewart told him that there were no special deals, that ShopNBC buys products from vendors like Somers and then sells them online and on the air.

“It’s really the long-term potential that all these new vendors see at ShopNBC,” Stewart said. “They know how big this industry is and how fast it is growing…“The economics are no different than any other vendor.”

The CEO added that talent like Somers are “are smart, smart people,”

He added that has a great team in place at ShopNBC to lure celebs like Somers, people who were with him “in another life,” namely at QVC.

The investor remained perplexed about why Somers would join a smaller shopping network than HSN, but it’s no secret.

HSN’s new management, led by CEO Mindy Grossman, is looking to add new vendors to the No. 2 home shopping channel to attract younger, hipper customers. Somers did not fit into that new strategy. And HSN had been whittling down the kinds of products that Somers was selling, like her Somersize line.

I am amazed at the enlightenment of the past few days and I capped it all this morning by listening to Mike Adams interview Suzanne Somers. I have put it on Twitter and if you have 20 minutes (even if you don’t make time) it is fascinating.
She has recently published Knockout and in it she shares a plethora of information regarding cancer, its cures, the preventive practices you can implement in your life, the doctors who have had success, etc. I am ordering the book from Amazon today and will post a “book report” in a few weeks. In the meantime, I will be engrossed in learning everything she has researched on the subject for my own benefit and for my family.
Do not underestimate the former air head from Three’s Company even my medical doctor told me to read her books. Suzanne has done more research than most scientists, she knows of what she speaks and her only goal is to educate the public, give them options and help people live better lives.

I love Halloween.  I love everything about it. I like the costume parties, the drinking and of course the girls that turn every costume into something slutty.  I also like pranks that people pull, unless pulled on me, and this video is no exception.  What is funnier than a prank? How about pranks that go wrong! I am pretty sure the kid in the trash can was KO’s and stayed in there for hours.  And no one seemed to care, at all, that he was just punched in the face, which makes it even funnier.  Maybe because he was wearing a mask people assumed he wasn’t hurt, but he HAD to have been crying underneath that mask! What was that mask by the way? It looks like a skeleton version of SLASH!

Floyd has done an exclusive interview here with SkySportsNews on Sunday. Floyd said Manny is a one-dimensional fighter, which I believe he is, his only assets are his footwork and speed, while Mayweather has the whole package, aka he is balanced – best of both (a bit of speed, a bit of power, a bit of footwork, and the thing that makes him unique is his brain). Mayweather’s ring philosophy is “whoever has the smartest brain wins in boxing”, & I certainly agree. Mayweather is the most smartest boxer out their, forget strength, power, etc… it’s all about fighting smart.

Manny has been knocked out in his early days when he was young & learning (this was when he was professional). But, being knocked out in your early professional days is a heavy embarrassment, because early in your career, your meant to show what your made off (& losing early in your career is odd/a sign of weakness & bad heart). And of course, Marquez gave him quite a good beating and exposed his flaws, so has Cotto to some minor extent, but Marquez ultimately gave him one hell of a beating, but Manny won the boxing match between & Marquez by unanimous decision, but Marquez, I believe is the toughest opponent Manny has faced up to now, which is why when asked at the Cotto after-fight interview, the interviewer said “which was your hardest fight” he failed to answer the question, due to embarrassment, instead talking about the Cotto fight.

Manny was asked multiple times if he wanted Floyd, but said it’s up to his management. True boxers don’t leave decisions to their management, they call boxers out, like Shane Mosley did to Floyd in his Marquez fight (in a rather rude & disrespectful manner). Manny needs to speak for himself, & stop ducking Mayweather, he knows the world wants that fight, but is to ignorant/scared to call Floyd out. Boxers should be chasing Floyd for a fight with him, as he’s No.1 & undefeated. I believe Manny has earn his opportunity to fight Floyd, & should have called him out when interviewed so the fans get more of a buzz.

Overall, Manny obviously has weaknesses as exposed mainly by Marquez (which is why Floyd fought him, so he can say I beat the 1 who beat Manny). Manny’s defence is average, as you seen Manny protecting his head, but one of Cotto’s upper cuts got in. If Manny tried to use his lightning speed against Mayweather, I think he would look stupid, like Oscar did when he fought Mayweather, Oscar went in their aiming shots all over the place, which is what Manny does. Manny’s lightning speed is quite like Oscar’s combos, they are not precise, and both boxers just blast them out leaving themselves open, & leaving yourself open to Mayweather means a counter punch from Mayweather. So overall, Manny will never get into Mayweather due to his solid defence, lighting reflexes, and Mayweather’s precision & counter-punching skill is just to much for Manny. Mayweather of course is clearly the more intelligent man & bigger man… Floyd has got a lot to lose if he gets beat by Manny, but Floyd will not get beat, because everything he had was on the line in the Marquez fight, & he won it, so Manny is just basically fresh meat for the Mayweather grinder.

It will be more of a national holiday this coming November 14 in the Philippines. Filipinos, young and old, men and women will be watching the boxing fight of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao against the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto whether it will be through pay-per-view, on theaters, internet or even on delayed telecasts. Any fight of Manny is always being watched either from those coming from the high society in the Philippines, government officials and even the downright masses.

I grew up witnessing my dad’s love to boxing. He is a fan of Muhammad Alih, who wouldn’t be? I have seen him watching the fights of the Iron Mike Tyson…and even the usual boxing fights…He is not into basketball or any other sports, he just loves boxing. I remember watching him as he twitches as the boxers fight as if he is the one on the ring…

And now this Sunday, Saturday on MGM Grand arena where the showdown will be held, Filipinos wish that Manny will prevail and that he will win against Miguel Cotto. He will make the Filipinos proud if that will happen for he will be the first boxer to win seven world boxing titles.

And for u Manny, let Cotto taste what you got and be the hero of the Filipinos in this very sad time. It will be better if you will knock out Cotto, but we just wish that you will win…Good luck and god bless.

This should make for interesting TV: ShopNBC actress/author Suzanne Somers will be appearing on “The Wendy Williams Show” today, Wednesday.

The blonde Somers will be plugging her controversial new book about alternative treatments for cancer, “Knockout: Interviews With Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer And How To Prevent Getting It In The First Place.”

Williams’ syndicated show airs at different times of the day across the country, so we can’t help you on that one. In New York City it’s on two of Rupert Murdoch’s TV stations. It runs at 10 a.m. on WNYW and at 10 p.m. on WWOR.

But you can check the show’s Web site to see when and where it airs in your town.

Williams, by the way, lives in our hometown, Montclair, N.J. In fact, we saw her once in the Social Security Office on Bloomfield Avenue. She was tall, flamboyant and had big hair (a wig?), pretty much the way she is on TV.

Actress Fran Drescher, who yesterday launched a skincare line called FranBrand on HSN, appeared Willlams’ show Monday.

PARIS, Nov 3, 2009 (AFP) – Five-times kings of Europe Liverpool could be facing an early Champions League exit if they fail to put massive injury woes behind them to beat Lyon in France on Wednesday.

While Lyon, Sevilla and Arsenal look to build on solid campaigns so far by qualifying early for the knockout phase, the writing is on the wall for Rafael Benitez’s stuttering Reds.

Liverpool’s domestic worries worsened at the weekend when both Jamie Carragher and Philipp Degen were sent off during a 2-1 defeat at Fulham.

It was Liverpool’s fifth defeat in 11 English Premier League games this season but if Benitez is worried at the lack of domestic bliss the Spaniard should be even more concerned about not being able to fall back on, and remain competitive in, the Champions League.

Making Wednesday’s task harder is the fact Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are both struggling for fitness, while reports claimed Monday that up to 12 players could miss the match through injury.

If Lyon win and Fiorentina beat Hungary’s Debrecen in Italy, Lyon will remain top of Group E, on 12 points, with Fiorentina on nine. Liverpool, on three points, would then have two games in which to make up what would be a massive deficit.

When Benitez was asked about his future after the Fulham game, Benitez simply replied: “My future is against Lyon.”

But the under-pressure Spaniard sounds increasingly like a desperate man.

“We have to think about what we have to do now. We have too many injuries and I have to analyse how many players I have available,” he said.

Despite currently playing second fiddle in the French league to champions Bordeaux, Lyon are, in contrast, in rude health as they bid for their fourth group win having beat Liverpool at Anfield last time out.

Lyon coach Claude Puel had Bafetimbi Gomis to thank for the goal which gave his side a 1-0 win over derby rivals Saint Etienne at the weekend.

And except for one or two players Puel will have an entire squad at his disposal for a match they can start, theoretically, under no pressure. A draw would see Lyon safely through to the knockout phase.

“It’s good that we won the derby, for us and our supporters. It was our third straight match away from home,” said Puel.

Other than Lyon, Sevilla are the only other side playing on Wednesday to have won all three games so far.

Having beaten Stuttgart 3-1 in Germany a fortnight ago, Sevilla also have a formidable home record of being unbeaten at home since defeat to Real Madrid in April 2009.

That statistic does not bode well for Stuttgart, who sit below mid-table in Germany and were dumped out of the Cup by Greuther Fuerth last week.

With two wins and a draw Arsenal sit on seven points and they will qualify for the next round if they take three points from AZ Alkmaar at the Emirates.

After drawing with AZ last time out, Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas said the offence-minded Gunners need to also play tighter if they are to stamp out the kind of mistakes that cost goals.

“Of course we wish we could score four or five goals in every single game, but we must realise that sometimes that is not the way football is and sometimes to win the games, you just have to not make mistakes and work hard to keep the ball better,” said Fabregas.

Barcelona outclassed Manchester United in the 2009 final, but Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions lead Group F in spite of an inconsistent campaign so far.

After holding Inter to a scoreless draw in Milan, Barcelona followed their 2-0 win over Dynamo Kiev with defeat at home to Rubin Kazan.

The Russians have home advantage on Wednesday when Barca will have to contend with a highly motivated team that is used to playing in the sub-zero temperatures and strong winds that have been forecast.

ShopNBC’s Suzanne Somers has blogged about her recent interview on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” and what she believes is the obstinancy and close-mindedness of conventional oncologists.

The blonde actress/entrepreneur faced off on the show with Dr. Otis Brawley, who is with the American Cancer Society. He was dissing her new book, “Knockout: Interviews With Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer, And How To Prevent Getting It In The First Place.”

Somers’ book advocates alternative treatments and diet as ways to cure and prevent cancer, rather than always turning to chemotherapy.

According to the actress, a year ago she was misdiagnosed at one point for full-body cancer, and thought she was going to die until finding out she was really OK. Scary stuff.

Singer Cheryl Cole knocked out her rivals to take top spot in the British singles charts with her debut solo ‘Fight for This Love’, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday. The single by the Girls Aloud singer and judge on the television hit show ‘The X-Factor’ was the fastest-selling of the year so far with more than 290,000 sales. “I have this permanent smile on my face,” Cheryl said in a statement. “I’m just getting over the fact I have recorded my solo record and now it’s number 1. I can’t take this all in.” The previous fastest-selling single of the year was last week’s number one, Alexandra Burke’s ‘Bad Boys’, which had sold more than 185,000 in its first week.
