<title><![CDATA[The Beginning]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Though he left his home with purpose, Callum wandered somewhat without direction. He took his time, holding closely the belief that he would end up where he was supposed to be.</p>
<p>He had lived in Westfall for his entire life. As he traveled further he realized that despite all the adventures he had imagined as a child, he had never ventured very far from home. He made his way through Duskwood, excited with the new sites, yet nothing there was nothing that could attract his attention for longer than a few moments. Eventually he entered a dry mountainous region. It was grating to the eyes. He found it very unpleasant and shortly found a path to the west. This new land was lush and green. Bustling with people and animals. Rabbits scampered about large trees. And in the beautiful valley filled with fresh air and wondrous sites, he gutted a few of the scampering rabbits for dinner, as stomach pains were reminding him that he left without food and hadn&#8217;t consumed more than water in the days he had been on his journey. He made is way west and north. Eventually ending up within sight of a building that could have been a church and made camp. Sleeping somewhat restfully for what seemed like the first time in years.</p>
<p>He awoke to a call. A man yelling for help. Callum sat up in alarm before realizing that the voice lacked urgency. The voice was requesting the assistance of able-bodied men. This is it, Callum thought, the true beginning of my quest.</p>
<p>Callum approached Deputy Willem. He implored Callum to help, explaining many of the local guards were off fighting other battles leaving this town less prepared to handle daily threats. Upon request, the deputy informed Callum the place he would be defend was called the Elwynn forest. Callum accepted and was directed to a nearby marshal for further instruction. The marshal repeated much of the same speech as the deputy, then told Callum they were struggling against and infestation of Kobolds needing removed. Callum accepted the left building to begin seeking out the troublesome creatures.</p>
<p>Just as he was leaving the marshal, Deputy Willem called out and asked if Callum would like to help out further, he could talk to Eagan Peltskinner about reducing the local wolf population. Later, Eagan explained that killing wolves served a double purpose, reducing the risk of them attacking locals and their meat could be cooked into steaks. After being shown his choice of payment for the task at hand, Callum left, thrilled with the prospect of the hunt.</p>
<p>Deciding that he could use the gear from his reward for his next quest, along with the hope of a steak or two, the aspiring hero took first to the slaying of wolves. He found them to be weaker than he suspected, probably having grown fat and soft from the easy life of eating caged livestock and house pets. Callum slew several without receiving any serious wounds. Taking only the most tender portions of meat, he quickly reached the limit of wolf meat that he could carry and returned to Eagan. He was rewarded with a pair of soft fur-lined shoes. His old shoes were old, the soles worn though. These felt like soft grass beneath his tired feet. He was though, not given any of the meat and had to go seek out his own food for the night. After a cold meal of rabbit left over from his kill the night before, Callum again set up camp. He fell asleep early, resting to prepare for the Kobolds he would face the following day. That night he dreamed. He dreamed of the hunt. He dreamed of blood.</p>

Wir schieben es auf das aus der Werbung bekannte Waschmaschinen-Monster oder auf unsere Vergesslichkeit. Und doch fällt eines auf: Es sind immerzu unsere liebsten, wärmsten, wolligsten Socken, von denen – vor allem in der Winterzeit – am Ende lediglich ein einzelner übrig bleibt. In Wahrheit klauen uns winzige, freche, gutartige kleine Hausgeister unsere Socken: die Kobolde. <!--more-->Sie leben, für Menschen unsichtbar, in unseren Häusern und lenken deren Glück und Schicksal. Die Socken bieten ihnen besonders in kalten Nächten ein wohlig-warmes Bett. Natürlich möchte jeder Kobold sein eigenes Bett haben und es nicht mit dem eines anderen verwechseln. Deshalb stibitzen sie stets von einem Sockenpaar nur einen einzelnen. Wenn die kleinen Wesen ihr Bettzeug wechseln oder in ein anderes Haus übersiedeln, geben sie uns den Strumpf wieder zurück…und da sind sie dann wieder, wie durch ein Wunder. Um herauszufinden, wie viele Hauskobolde bei Euch wohnen, zählt einfach die Socken, die Euch fehlen! <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

Diese kleinen Geister sind nämlich wahre Schleckermäulchen. Sie lieben Pralinen, Schokolade, Karamell, Lakritze, Lollies…aber am allermeisten schwärmen die kecken Kobolde für gefüllte Bonbons. Das Glitzerpapier der Leckereien zieht sie magisch an. Sie fertigen sich daraus schimmernden Schmuck, Westenknöpfe und Schuhschnallen. Das haben sie sich auch verdient nach einem harten Tag, an dem sie sich um das Haus gekümmert und es beschützt haben. Darum solltet Ihr stets was Süßes daheim haben, sonst suchen sich die Kobolde ein anderes Haus. Aber wo gibt es schon ein Haus ohne süße Leckereien. Wer am Ende ein schlechtes Gewissen hat und sich fragt, ob er all die Schokolade alleine gegessen hat, dem sei gesagt: Gewiss seid Ihr nicht die einzigen Naschkatzen in Eurem Haus. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>In meinem nächsten Leben mache ich eine <strong>Schreinerlehre</strong>. Nix mehr mit Goethe, Brechts früher Lyrik, Two-Step-Flow und Auslautverhärtung. Auch keine Content-Konzepte mehr, keine Exposés, keine Romane und keine Wire Frames. Stattdessen Holz, Hobelspäne und Schwielen an den Händen.</p>
<p>Wobei, wenn ich ehrlich bin, geht&#8217;s mir gar nicht so sehr um das Handwerk des Schreiners. Meine Sehnsucht nach Holz rührt eher daher, dass ich in letzter Zeit ständig <strong>&#8220;Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl&#8221; </strong>höre. Beim Arbeiten, beim Abspülen, beim Aufräumen und wenn ich mit meiner Tochter spiele. Der Schreinermeister und sein Kobold beruhigen mich in diesen chaotischen Zeiten, in denen mein Kopf so voll ist und der Tag 30 wache Stunden bräuchte, um halbwegs bewältigt zu werden.</p>
<p>Es ist nicht nur die Erinnerung an die <strong>Kindheit</strong>. Wobei die auch faszinierend ist. Als Kind habe ich mir, lange bevor es die TV-Episoden des Pumuckl gab, bei jeder Folge die Werkstatt, den Hof und die Wohnung ein bisschen anders vorgestellt. Und obwohl das über 25 Jahre her ist, kann ich mich noch genau an jede Location erinnern. </p>
<p>Viel mehr noch aber als die Kindheitserinnerungen beruhigt mich die Art und Weise, wie Schreinermeister Eder sein Leben führt. Er ist ein einfacher Mann, der hart arbeitet, aber nur, um sein Brot, seine Wurst und sein Bier bezahlen zu können. Er will nicht reich werden, er ist ein<strong> bescheidener Mensch</strong>. Er hat ein paar gute Freunde, gerne seine Ruhe, macht seine Arbeit gut und gerne und stellt ansonsten keine hohen Ansprüche ans Leben. Meister Eder jammert nicht, dass er keine Frau hat, er braucht keine Fernreisen, sondern freut sich über eine Woche Ausspannen auf einem bayerischen Bauernhof. Er hat ein Gespür für Recht und Moral, ist aber kein Moralist. Er ist zufrieden und ausgeglichen, hat aber auch mal grundlos schlechte Laune. Er flucht, raucht und hat ein weiches Herz. </p>
<p>Ein Schreiner aus einer Kinderserie als Vorbild für ein glückliches Leben? Irgendwie schon. </p>
<p>Immer, wenn ich das Gefühl habe, ohne <strong>iPhone</strong> nicht mehr weitermachen zu können, stelle ich mir vor, was wohl Meister Eder zu meinem Wunsch sagen würde. &#8220;Brauch i ned, des neimodische Zeig, ohne des lebt sich&#8217;s genauso gut&#8221;, vermutlich. Und dann würde er fluchend seine Feile suchen, die der Pumuckl mal wieder wegversteckt hat.</p>

Ich finde den mal echt gelungen und er drückt indirekt das aus was ich über manche Menschen denke bzw würde ich ihnen gerne einfach mal mit einem Lächeln die Zunge zeigen und sagen &#8221;es ist mir sowas von egal was ihr denkt oder sagt, es geht mir alles am Allerwertesten vorbei <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> &#8221; Aber würde man das jedem ins Gesicht sagen <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' />  deswegen ist ja der kleine Kobod da !!!! </span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(136,136,136);">Doof finde ich nur , dass irgendein kindisches Hirn ihn heute umgedreht hat, also mit Gesicht zur Wand. Wer vergreift sich denn einfach so an armen wehrlosen Kobolden???Der sollte sich echt mal schämen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</span></p>

Schämen ! Gutes Stichwort , das sollten sich auch die jenigen, die hier meinen Blog zuspammen mit meist beleidigenden Kommentaren. Ich hatte schon einmal erwähnt , dass ich das eh nicht weiterlese und kommentarlos lösche. Ausserdem interessiert es mich herzlich wenig ob es einen stört , wie oft oder wann ich hier schreibe oder twittere <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Es ist meine Privatsphäre und geht Fremde , die ich nicht mal kenne , schon mal garnix an !!!! </span></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;">7 de Setembro voltei a jogar D&#38;D 3.5, segundo jogo após uma seca de meses sem final de semana ( o primeiro foi um one-shot de Gantz para GURPS). Sento na mesa com jogadores de sempre, já com seus personages e histórias em andamento e começo a imaginar o que fazer. Sem muita imaginação o grupo pede um mago, pois está sem nenhum. E a raça? e o estilo do personagem? Ouço nas conversas que o pessoal está metido, de forma pacifica, com uma comunidade Kobold (e isso existe?).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-3770" title="Kobold" src="http://guerrasdraconicas.wordpress.com/files/2009/09/kobold.jpg" alt="Kobold" width="140" height="240" />Então por que não um kobold?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">O mestre disse que é legal ser um kobold então vamos lá. Faço Thard, um kobold mago de terceiro nível, egoísta (caótico e neutro). Com a pontuação de 36 pontos nos atributos não há como o personagem ficar fraco (inteligência 18). Para adicionar o mestre tem uma tabela de nobreza, onde se joga 1d100, jogo resultado: 100! então sou um príncipe kobold mago!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Personagem pronto, começa a aventura. Aqui começa o diário desse personagem inusitado:</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">&#8221; Após calcular os tributos para os simpáticos ogros que invadiam nossa cavernas, fui praticar magia. Os outros lideres da comunidade trabalhavam inutilmente, como sempre: Um Kobold crescido (ainda preciso checar se ele é um kobold), derrotou o líder de guerra em combate, mas só faz coçar o saco! O Líder mais experiente, passa o dia todo batizando as ninhadas de Kobolds! afff</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Um dos conselheiros me chama para encontrar mensageiros da superfície, querem falar com o responsável pelo nosso rico tesouro!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Um anão e um elfo são os lideres da comitiva, e, resumidamente, desejam saquear a nossa comunidade, antes dos Ogros, para poder construir uma forja mágica, para poder derrotar os Ogros!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Pois bem, após negociar com eles, em troca de minha supervisão pessoal na construção da forja, e um favor em aberto mando recolher o equivalente a 10.200 peças de ouro!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">É claro que vou com eles para checar se meu investimento não será a fundo perdido!</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Eles começam a discutir missões toscas, como ir a um bosque do homem morto verificar a proliferação local de mortos vivos e resolver o problema de um homem morto&#8230; Após combate com muitos mortos vivos, a noite surge um grupo mais voraz deles, que logo se mostram duros na queda. Tudo ia muito bem, até que um dos aventureiros erra um golpe, cai para traz, e abre um buraco de 3 metros! Putz, apenas eu e o elfo não caímos, mas logo ao ver os mortos vivos que estão em cima eu pulo para não ser atacado. Hora de usar todo meu poder mágico contra eles, antes de virar lanche noturno deles.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Diante da situação os mortos vivos me derrubam, mais o Anão clérigo realiza preces e me cura (essa eu não pedi), mas ajudo a derrotar o restante dos mortos vivos.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Rumamos para o centro da floresta, encontramos um fantasma com memória curta, e vamos em direção a um poço, onde supostamente ele morreu&#8230; o anão brinca de sereia&#8230; traz uma chave enferrujada&#8230; e saímos da floresta com o fantasma estúpido.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Resultado: parece que ficam brincando mais de aventureirinhos do que cuidando das finanças.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Terei que fazer alguma coisa em relação a isso&#8221;</p>

Für 49,95 Euro erhält man(n und ggf. auch frau!) das 576-seitige Hardcover und das knapp einem Monat nach Veröffentlichung des Originals.</p>
<p>Ebenfalls im September wird dann <strong>D1: Die Krone des Koboldkönigs</strong> erscheinen, wer <strong>Falkengrunds Letzte Hoffnung</strong> schon gespielt oder gelesen hat, ahnt, was ihn erwartet. Ersteres soll knapp 12 Euro kosten, letzteres gibt es noch gegen Portounkosten bei mir.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Cave-dive!]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><em>My apologies for not keeping my players up to date.  This should get us current.</em></p>
<p>Our heroes continues their trek to up the mountain.  After dispatching some bears they came to a door with a puzzling lock.  After some short deliberation they attempted to open it… and it swung open with ease.  They later determined that failure would have resulted in some form of pain.</p>
<p>They followed the mountain trail down through a lair of bats and after defeating a very nasty trap with whirling blades, they found a one legged kobold who wanted to aid the heroes in killing the tribe that disowned him.  The kobold lead the heroes to an ancient dwarven keep that had been taken over by the kobolds.  They fought their way through kobolds, rats, a game of skull-skull and drakes until they were able to climb a tall tower to discover the real threat.  They also lost a few members of the party.  When searching for a place to rest for the night Kava and Sarge fell and were swept away in an underground river.  Their whereabouts are unknown.  The part did meet some new friends.  They liberated a Halfling who was being roasted by the kobolds.  Moto has proven very good with a blade.  They also met a paladin named Vars who came to help the heroes after meeting up with the priest in Fallcrest.  Lastly the heroes were joined by a female half-orc ranger who had been stalking gnolls in the mountain hoping to collect on the bounty for their heads.  The new party is proving to be very effective.  The true leader of the kobolds was the grey dragon who had been harassing the quarry.  And she wasn’t alone!  The dragon and her young son blasted at the heroes but using divine intervention they were able to hold the dragon in place and lay the beat down on it.</p>
<p>Our heroes now continue to explore the passages of the Whitestone Mountains.  They are still looking for the gnoll encampment, the Halfling alchemist and the location of the evil monastery.</p>
<p><em>You may have noticed we have an extra person in our party.  Gary has been joining us on Skype.  It has been working out well.  He is playing the halfling.  The other party swapping came because we thought we were loosing our fighter and the party really needed a tank so our ranger became our tank (paladin) but then our original tank was able to work us back into his schedule&#8230;  so he became a ranger.  Very ironic but both players are enjoying their new roles.</em></p>

<title><![CDATA[LIB 19 - The Throwback Campaign, Session 2]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[For session 2, a real battle map and encounter statistics were prepared in advance &#8211; a rarity ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>For session 2, a real battle map and encounter statistics were prepared in advance &#8211; a rarity indeed. We got together via MapTool and Skype to play out the impeding raid on the mysterious warehouse in the slums. Much hilarity ensued as the PCs attempted to select their icons for play, and opinions were rendered on the sexual orientation of the images. Apical and Big Jim were accompanied to the nefarious site by Assistant Constable Garack (wearing a golden colored helmet and wielding a long sword) and 5 men-at-arms in the employ of the City Watch. Naturally, it was determined that the men-at-arms should storm the door of the warehouse first. Since there was no other entrance, the &#8220;plan&#8221; consisted of piling through the front door and crushing all resistance through force of arms.</p>
<p>The plan quickly bogged down when the first two men-at-arms through the door stopped to fight a thug that was just inside the doorway. Since the men-at-arms would not get out of the way, the group was forced to very slowly push forward as thugs were cut down left and right. One of the men-at-arms was grievously wounded during the battle, but eventually two ruffians were put to the sword and the party marched into the darkened warehouse. After a quick looting of bodies, the posse moved forward into a narrow hallway and was confronted by a guy throwing clubs, who put another man-at-arms down. Between the man-at-arms and Big Jim, the club thrower was soon slain. Beyond the narrow hallway was a common room with stairs leading up and down. At this point the group had a choice: Up, Down, or search for treasure. Naturally a search commenced, turning up a few decent items and many low quality household goods as well. Since the door to the basement was locked, the team of men-at-arms proceeded up the stairwell.</p>
<p>Upstairs, another man-at-arms nearly went down as he was surprised by a vicious dog while the group tried to open a chest, but Big Jim dispatched the snarling canine with the aid of another man-at-arms. Unfortunately, a barbarian was in the room from which the dog emerged, and a pitched battle ensued. At this point Apical laid into the barbarian with a powerful stunning blow, and Big Jim dispatched Brackshar with a mighty swing, saving the life of the half-dead man-at-arms. More searching revealed a note indicating that the basement door should always be kept locked, and a key to the door. The locked chest however turned out to be empty.</p>
<p>The group, now consisting of 3 men-at-arms (2 badly wounded), Apical, Big Jim, and Assistant Constable Garack (who hadn&#8217;t even made it upstairs), now proceeded to the basement to see if the women that had been kidnapped could be found below. However, as Apical descended the stairs, a tripwire opened up two crates to reveal horrible undead skeletons. The skeletons promptly attacked and began trying to tear the novice monk apart. Some quick action by Apical and Big Jim defeated the monstrosities, as they were assisted by some rocks thrown by a man-at-arms.</p>
<p>In the basement was nothing but trash, although Big Jim found some dirty rags and old clothing that looked like they might fetch a few coppers. There was a hole leading down into some sort of cave, and a discussion ensued. Garack tried to back out of accompanying the heroes into this cavern, but some fast talking by the PCs convinced him and the staggering men-at-arms to press onward. Upon descending a rope into the cave, there was quite a bit of laughter because the map of the cave looked somewhat similar to a phallus. After this bit of juvenile levity subsided, Big Jim took the lead down the passageway. Climbing over a mound of dirt, the group encountered a few giant ants; the ants took out yet another man-at-arms before being slain by a combination of Big Jim&#8217;s sword and rocks thrown by the city watch. Big Jim suffered an acidic bite which required some healing, but the party pressed onward after finding a couple of gold pieces on a corpse.</p>
<p>Pressing onward into the cave, the group encountered four kobolds, two of whom were dart throwers. Apical wisely chose to utilize his bow while Big Jim and the men-at-arms engaged in melee. After defeating three of the four kobolds at the cost of yet another man-at-arms, one of the darters fled into the  darkness and the party gave chase. Apical and Big Jim rounded a corner in hot pursuit, only to find that eight more kobolds, half with darts, awaited them in the cavern beyond. A desperate battle ensued, in which darts and short swords faced off against Big Jim&#8217;s brute strength, Apical&#8217;s archery, and Garack&#8217;s rock throwing prowess. Somehow, the players and Garack survived (curiously as rear guard, Garack was untouched). Despite their weakened condition, the indomitable heroes pressed forward and located the kobold subchief and his guards in the final chamber. The kobold subchief was a dangerous opponent, armed with a stone battleaxe instead of a stone dagger, and Assistant Constable Garack finally deigned to engage in actual melee against him. Through the combined efforts of the three, victory was won by a narrow margin; even Garack sustained a wound. Searching revealed some additional equipment, a map from the exit tunnel to a kobold lair near the mountains, and two captive women (a halfling and a gnome; both fat and unattractive peasant types).  These women had apparently been subject to some type of heinous involuntary breeding experiment by the kobolds. They explained that other women were hauled off presumably to the main kobold lair.</p>
<p>With the rescue mission complete and the evidence in hand, the party returned to claim their reward (10GP) from the city guard. Brother Meriam at the shrine of the Self-Reliant provided some modest healing in the form of cure light wounds spells, and Big Jim planned to sell the party&#8217;s hard won gains the next day. Because it was late, the duo decided to bed down at the Horse&#8217;s Head Inn (after all, Big Jim had prepaid a week in the basement). As he settled down to sleep, Big Jim was annoyed by the sounds of another bum repeatedly getting ill (vomiting, moaning over his chamber pot, etc.) After repeated admonitions to &#8220;shut up over there&#8221;, Big Jim stealthily drew out one of the crude  darts he had taken from the kobolds and flung it towards the afflicted hobo in the darkness. Jim scored a direct hit and the man began convulsing due to a punctured lung, causing a great commotion as some of the other bums rushed over to help, carrying him up for medical treatment, etc. Jim settled down to try and get some sleep, but shortly thereafter the Inn was woken up by a large contingent of the Merchant Watch planning to search the basement. Everyone, including Big Jim, was evicted from the basement and tossed out into the street. In the confusion, Jim left his bag of crude darts under his &#8220;pillow&#8221;. He slept the rest of the night in nearby Gruntor&#8217;s stable (good thing he grew up on a farm).</p>
<p>In the morning, Apical joined back up with Big Jim and the party proceeded to sell their goods. Suits of leather armor and some cuir boille were flogged to Rohan&#8217;s Medium Armory, various weapons were sold at Valerie&#8217;s Flails and Sundries, and then it came time to sell an amber and copper ring found in the hideout. Big Jim took this item to Dankesh&#8217;s Gems and Jewelry and proclaimed that his grandmother had just died, and they needed to sell this ring which was a precious family heirloom to help pay for her burial expenses. He reckoned this valuable item was worth no less than 100GP. Dankesh snorted and offered a much smaller sum, less than 10GP, for the ring. At this Big Jim was greatly incensed and proclaimed &#8220;you are disrespecting my dead grandmother! Why, you might as well dig up her dead body and crap down her throat!&#8221; Dankesh immediately asked the players to leave, which they did but not without some protests from Big Jim. Following this Big Jim took a slightly less confrontational tone with Dor Ismail, gnomish jeweler at the Gnomish Gemcutters Guild, and was able to get a fair price for the ring (about 10GP) &#8211; but not without some intense negotiations and a few insulting statements by both parties.</p>
<p>Finally there was the matter of the stone daggers, crude flatware, and other miscellaneous goods such as belt pouches obtained from the adventure. Apical and Big Jim returned to the slums and began selling the stone daggers to anyone who would pay &#8211; no questions asked. Several malcontents and persons of questionable mental state walked away with a fair deal on an untraceable stone dagger, and the party walked away with cold hard silver pieces. The filthy household goods were sold to poor peasantry and brought in a few coppers. During this day of mercantile success, Big Jim and Apical once again met up with Will the ex-Wagonmaker; he had started re-training due to a city program for ex-wagon industry workers, and was now running  a stall in the flea market selling belt pouches. Satisfied with their take, the party resolved to look for more adventure after they had healed from their wounds.</p>

<p>Antagligen den svåraste och mest vesäntliga frågan att besvara för mig angående projektet. Sensmoraler gör ingen glad, allra minst mig, det är något annat. En galen vridning bland koboldernas lärda, nej. Ett program för att säkerställa tidens fortsatta gång, ja, kanske.</p>
<p>Ursprungligen var min och Js idé att klockskaparen från början var rent medioker inom sitt uryrke. Han reste till Schweiz för att lära sig av de bästa urmakarna i världen, men blev direkt utskrattad i den by han började studera i. Som hämnd svor han att återvända och visa dem en gång för alla. Så föddes tanken till monsterklockan.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>After the shocking discovery that kobolds might be involved in the disappearances, the party proceeded to the residential district to investigate. There they met up with Juniper, the proprietor of the local stables. Juniper knew very little about the possible cause of the disappearances but mentioned that the entire district was on edge. It seemed that there was little pattern to the disappearances, but houses were being broken into at night and women of relatively young age were being removed by force. Other family members were sometimes killed by the mystery intruders. Juniper offered to get a group together to help patrol the district, since Apical and Big Jim were hardly a large enough group to cover a lot of terrain at night. Juniper approached the town crier about broadcasting an invitation to the night time event, but the town crier was reluctant to &#8220;stir up trouble&#8221; for some reason. While the local folk prepared to gather at night, the party investigated one of the recent crime scenes. Evidence indicated that men with axes broke into the home and slew the occupants, but there was no trace of the daughter, Cecilia Smith, inside.</p>
<p>That night, the team returned to find that a large group of peasantry and local merchants had gathered by torchlight to volunteer for patrol duty. Just as discussion of tactics was beginning, an armed wagonload of men arrived wearing masks. This was a delegation from the local shrine of the Keepers sect; they informed everyone that they were here to observe the proceedings, nothing more. This strange intrusion seemed to cast a pall on the proceedings but it was agreed that the patrols would work in teams; no one was to set off alone. Patrols throughout the first night were uneventful. The next day after sleeping in, Apical and Big Jim decided to head towards the hills outside of town and investigate the area. On the way out of town they encountered a bum being shaken down by a member of the Thieves&#8217; Guild. Through some bold threats, the thug was encouraged to move on. Then, the party asked the bum what that was about, at which point he began to respond &#8220;two coppers a week&#8230; need two coppers a week&#8230; two coppers&#8230; just two coppers&#8230;&#8221; as he rocked back and forth. At which point Aaron realized they had once again been sucked into talking to a mentally ill wretch, cursed the DM, and immediately left for the town gates. Upon arriving in the hills the party had a fortunate encounter with the Brotherhood of the Barbed Bolt, a team of adventurers led by Mogfor the Ranger. Mogfor informed them that there were plenty of caves in these hills, which might contain bears, ogres, or trolls. He advised the party never to leave home without their wizard, his was named Josepho and he threw a mean fireball. Upon hearing this information the pair agreed to return back to Sengazia with the Brotherhood.</p>
<p>After returning to the city, the party interrogated Seneck, the merchant watchman who was in the process of recovering from his injuries. He had little useful information to share, so the characters decided to see if the Thieves&#8217; Guild knew anything about the attacks. Apical and Big Jim proceeded to a known gambling hall in the slums, where Grindek the half-orc bouncer stood outside. Despite Big Jim&#8217;s attempts to insult Grindek, Apical bribed him with a gold piece. Grindek told them the Thieves&#8217; Guild was not involved in the disappearances, but to return in two days and he might have information for them. The party left, not knowing if they had been screwed out of a gold piece or not.</p>
<p>On the second night of patrols, one of the locals was shot through the eye with a crossbow. Despite careful instructions to stick together, he had apparently looked down an alley without escort and been instantly slain. Morale of the makeshift militia dropped, but word of a new attack steeled their resolve. The attackers had struck again, but apparently one of the intruders lost a hand in the process as the homeowner had tried to defend himself with a meat cleaver. The following night, the Keepers joined in the patrols, sending out armed mercenaries to escort the locals as a goodwill gesture to the local populace. However, some felt that this was an attempt by the Keepers to spy on the group.</p>
<p>Eventually, the party returned to speak with Grindek. For the cost of another gold piece, he revealed the location of a suspicious building in the slums where it was believed that the attackers/kidnappers might have returned after the most recent skirmish. Apical and Big Jim headed to the filthy slums to check out this converted warehouse. It seemed that the entire place was boarded up or covered with curtains from the inside, and there was only one entrance. Multiple bums had constructed lean-tos against the side of the building. One of them had even received some good wood from Will the Wagonmaker to construct a relatively sturdy shelter. The group asked about the condition of the bums; apparently 2 were drunks, 2 were insane, and the other 2 in back were simply down on their luck hoboes. The party interrogated the coherent bum and found out that the house had activity only at night, with the exception of one or two people leaving per day to get food at the market. Unfortunately, most of the lean-tos were not in view of the front door so the team faced a dilemma: how to stake out this hideout? Options included taking over one of two shanties across the street by displacing their owners by force; digging a hole underneath one of the shanties and living under there with the rats; or producing a makeshift bunker out of the piled trash between the two homes, digging a bit of a trench and lying quietly among the filth while watching the front door. At this point Dan stated &#8220;Alright Louis, we completely degrade ourselves AGAIN and lie down in the filthy garbage.&#8221; The smell was severe but fortunately both characters were ex-farmers and did not have sensitive noses (or stomachs).</p>
<p>Observation of the hideout showed the following: Some sort of bandit-looking guy bringing a prostitute in at night; a pair of guys coming out occasionally and probing/hassling the bums in the lean-tos around the building before going back inside; then a single guard type leaving the door and heading to the market for food. There was no other apparent way in, so the team decided to whack the guard heading for food in hopes of gaining useful information. From behind, Apical stunned the hapless dude with his stunning fist while Big Jim smacked him in the head. They dragged the poor fool into a nearby dark alley and bound and gagged him. Interrogation then proceeded smoothly, as the bandit sang like a canary. He informed the team that a group of about 6 was being led by a barbarian named Brackshar. From time to time, a group of kobolds would emerge from the basement (which was not to be entered at any time) and lead a nighttime raid to capture women. The women would be taken into the basement and not seen again. His job was to guard the outside door and make occasional food runs. Armed with this information and captive, Apical and Big Jim returned to Constable Gorto to get help in taking down the warehouse. The constable agreed to send a team consisting of five men-at-arms and Assistant Constable Garack to take down the criminal element at this mysterious warehouse. The session ended for the night, before the big raid could commence.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Sejak itulah Robert mulai berpetualang menempuh beragam bahaya bersama dua pemburuh yang lain, si pendekar dan si penyihir. Petualangan yang fantastis benar-benar terjadi saat mereka mendapat misi penting mencegah si pewaris Vordac &#8211; penguasa kegelapan, membuka segel pedang Kraal&#8217;shazar dan membebaskan roh Vordac ke dunia manusia. <p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Sampul dari buku satu ini bisa dibilang lumayan menarik perhatian; gambar seorang ksatria berambut merah dengan jubah yang hampir sama merahnya menutupi sebagian besar sampul depan novel ini. Kesan pertama dari melihat novelnya adalah “Dia ini pasti tokoh utamanya.” ga salah sih, walau dia yang ada di sampul novel ini bukan tokoh utama, tapi salah satu anggota kelompok tokoh utama. Di bagian atas sampul terdapat judul novel ini yang diberi efek timbul yang keren, berikut kedua sub judulnya. Ya, novel ini memang cuku unik dibandingkan novel lain yang pernah kubaca karena punya dua sub judul itu. Mungkin selain trilogi pengarangnya berencana membuat lebih banyak serial Fireheart.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Ada satu yang hampir luput dari perhatian waktu pertama kali melihat sampul Fireheart. Di bagian backgroundnya terdapat gambar sebuah menara atau istana yang sebagian besar tertutup oleh tubuh sang ksatria. Seolah ingin menunjukkan setting dari cerita. Pretty interesting. Bagian bawah dari sampul depan diisi dengan lambing penerbit Sheila. Sementara bagian belakang sampulnya berisi sinopsis dari novel ini. Berisi cuplikan dari adegan berbahaya yang dihadapi tokoh utama dan tujuan utama sang tokoh utama yang, tentu saja, harus menyelamatkan dunia dari ancaman bangkitnya kembali penguasa kegelapan.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;"><strong>Main Story</strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Cerita dari novel ini diawali dengan sedikit penjelasan mengenai dunia dan kerajaan yang menjadi setting cerita. Ditambah juga dengan sedikit penjelasan tentang pemburu dan guild mereka. Cukup ngasih gambaran tentang arti sub judul dan pekerjaan sang tokoh utama. Cerita lalu berlanjut tentang tugas yang diterima sang tokoh utama, yang bernama Robert, untuk membantai Orc dan pasukan kobold-nya. Seperti tipikal cerita seperti ini, sang tokoh utama awalnya berpetualang sendirian, apapun alasannya. Singkat kata, Robert akhirnya sampai di gua markas Orc dan pertarungannya dimulai. Aku sempet nemu beberapa masalah dalam logika di adegan bertarungnya ini.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Yang pertama, Kobold digambarkan sebagai makhluk setengah manusia setengah anjing, tapi waktu pasukan Kobold itu nyari Robert di dalam gua kok kayanya susah banget nyarinya. Kenapa ga pake penciuman anjingnya aja? Robert ga akan bisa sembunyi dari pasukan Kobold itu mau gelapnya gua kaya gimana juga.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Berikutnya waktu si Kobold nggigit dada Robert, aku agak susah mbayanginnya. Gimana caranya rahang anjing bisa kebuka cukup lebar buat nggigit rompi Robert sampe sobek gitu? Kalo yang kegigit bagian lengan ato bahu aku masih bisa mbayanginnya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Bagian akhir pertarungannya juga kayaknya dibikin berakhir begitu saja. Robert menebaskan pedangnya untuk membuat satu jurus yang membelah tubuh Kobold menjadi dua bagian. Nah, kalo punya jurus hebat kaya gini kenapa ga dipake dari tadi?? Lebih gampang nyerang dari jauh daripada harus deket-deket sama musuh yang bikin dia luka parah sampe pingsan gitu.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Kemudian cerita dilanjutkan dengan adegan flashback si Robert ke suatu masa di waktu kecilnya. Sewaktu sepasukan Orc tanpa sebab yang jelas membumihanguskan desa kesayangannya. Ini pendapat pribadi dan orang lain bisa jadi punya pendapat yang beda, tapi menurutku cerita masa lalunya Robert ini terlalu panjang. Terlalu mudah ditebak. Dan sekaligus menghilangkan potensi greget dan pertanyaan yang bisa saja timbul di benak pembaca nanti kalau kisah masa lalu ini ditiadakan.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Selama aku membaca dua bab khusus tentang masa lalu Robert ini yang ada dikepalaku cuma “Cepetan balik ke story utama dong!!” kisah dalam flashback-nya ini juga terasa lurus-lurus saja, akhirnya sudah bisa ditebak dari sinopsis di belakang buku.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Oke, kisah masa lalu akhirnya selesai dan perjalanan Robert akhirnya dimulai lagi. Dia mulai mendapatkan rekan-rekan baru dalam perjalannya dan berkeliling dunia semakin jauh dari kota asalnya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Seperti genre sejenis, Robert akhirnya berhadapan dengan monster-monster berwujud mengerikan, bertemu dengan karakter baru, dan terus bertualang mencari pekerjaan. Sampai dia bertemu dengan seorang kurcaci yang ternyata masih punya hubungan dengan salah satu rekan barunya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Robert menemani kurcaci itu kembali ke gunung tempat tinggalnya, hingga akhirnya Robert dituduh mencuri benda penting bagi kurcaci dan bahkan hampir dibunuh! Tapi untungnya, dia bisa selamat dari hukuman pembunuhannya itu.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Ada satu keanehan lagi yang aku temuin disini sih, yaitu masalah tempat tinggal kurcaci. Kenapa Bapa Andreas, kurcaci yang ditolong Robert, tinggalnya malah di gubuk bukan di gua?</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Aku ngerti sih kalo dia diasingkan sama kurcaci yang lain sampe tempat tinggalnya terpencil gitu, tapi apa dia ga bisa bangun gua baru di lembah itu buat tempat tinggalnya? Sori kalo pertanyaan ga penting, cuman bayanganku selama ini kurcaci itu tinggal dan tidur di gua, bukan di gubuk kayu.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Setelah dari gunung kurcaci, cerita lalu di-skip sampai Robert menerima sebuah surat undangan untuk melindungi sebuah pedang iblis. Pedang yang dikhawatirkan akan diambil kembali oleh sang pewaris kegelapan. Tidak cuma Robert, tapi puluhan, atau mungkin ratusan pendekar lain juga menerima surat serupa.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Setelah ini cerita secara mendadak menjadi penuh dengan karakter dan adegan action. Sampai bingung nama ini buat karakter yang mana. Apalagi ada dua orang yang punya gelar kaya bangsawan gitu. Selain para tokoh utama, yang kadang di narasi dijelasin pake istilah “pahlawan”, ada banyak sekali karakter lain yang berada disini untuk membantu para pahlawan. Sekaligus juga sebagai korban yang mati dalam perjuangannya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Ada kelemahan lain di bagian cerita ini selain masalah nama yang suka ketuker-tuker itu (masalah pribadi, mungkin pembaca lain malah ga kerasa), yaitu saking banyaknya karakter yang ada disini, di tengah deskripsi bisa tiba-tiba ada satu jenis makhluk baru yang tadinya tidak diberitahukan kedatangannya. Ras seperti mausia kambing, tikus, atau kadal juga melengkapi daftar para pahlawan penjaga pedang iblis.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Dan, ngomong-ngomong soal kadal, logika soal manusia kadal itu juga agak aneh buat aku. Manusia kadal disini dideskripsikan sebagai makhluk berdarah dingin (dalam arti sebenarnya) yang menyukai tempat dingin! Which is weird, karena makhluk berdarah dingin seperti itu harusnya malah lebih suka tempat panas buat menghangatkan tubuhnya. Kalo nongkrong di tempat dingin bukannya malah jadi mati beku tuh kadal??</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Cara para pahlawan melindungi pedang sihir juga aku masih agak ga ngerti. Buat ngelindungi pedang sihir Kraal’ shazaar dari sesuatu yang beredar melalui desas-desus, para pahlawan justru melewati semua penghalang dan jebakan yang disiapkan untuk melindungi pedang iblis sampai masuk jauh ke dalam.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Kesannya kaya mereka sengaja buka jalan, ngancurin semua penjaga, lalu dengan pedenya berdiri di depan penghalang terakhir untuk menghabisi sang pewaris, setelah membuka jalan lebar untuknya berjalan santai dari pintu masuk kuil sampai halangan terakhir. Padahal lebih gampang, lebih simple, dan ga makan banyak nyawa kalo mereka semua bikin pasukan besar di depan kuil tempat pedang disegel sambil nunggu sang pewaris datang buat akhirnya dikeroyok rame-rame. Ga usah susah-susah ngalahin semua penjaga disana.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Setelah sang pewaris dikalahkan, sempet ada suasana tegang yang dibangun waktu Robert, dkk ketinggalan kapal. Tapi habis gitu jadi ilang begitu aja. Coba ditampilin adegan berantemnya. Ato dikasi satu plot twist di bagian itu. Pasti jadi lebih bagus.<br />

Gaya Penulisan</strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Alright, sekarang membahas gaya penulisannya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Satu yang mesti aku bahas lebih dulu adalah format dari penempatan paragraf dan dialog dalam novel ini. Setiap paragraf dalam buku ini tidak ditempatkan secara penuh dari atas sampai bawah halaman, tapi ada jeda bagian putih yang keliatannya lebar banget dan sempet bikin aku ngerasa agak asing waktu awal-awal baca. Gara-garanya ini novel pertama yang aku baca yang pake penempatan paragraf kaya gitu. Penempatan dialog juga kayanya lebar banget antara paragraf diatas sama bawahnya. Ga terlalu mengganggu sih, cuman kerasa agak asing aja.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Dan, bagian berikut dari reviewanku ini mungkin bakal bikin banyak orang ngamuk (terutama yang suka sama novel ini), tapi kalo boleh jujur aku butuh perjuangan berat buat nylesein baca novelnya. Satu-satunya bagian yang membuatku tertarik adalah adegan berantemnya, dan pas adegan lagi “damai-damainya” aku malah ga bisa ngenikmatin. Malah cenderung kerasa bosen.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Sempet beberapa kali aku punya pikiran buat put down this book and read something else, tapi tiap kali aku punya pikiran kaya gitu langsung ada suara dalem kepala yang bilang “Liat tuh! Om Pur aja udah bikin resensinya Fireheart. Masa kamu ga bisa?” Dan dengan semangat ingin membuat resensi yang baik buat novel ini, aku teruskan membaca sambil mencari sebab kenapa aku ga bisa ngenikmati baca novelnya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Setelah perjuangan panjang membaca dan menganalisa, akhirnya aku nemu alasannya kenapa aku ga bisa enjoy baca novel ini. Dalam novel ini, aku ga ngerasa lagi ada di sebuah dunia fantasi dan melihat aksi petualangan para tokohnya. Aku juga ga ngerasa lagi ada dalam alam pikiran sang tokoh kalo misalnya tokoh itu lagi berpikir. Aku malah ngerasa kaya lagi diceritain kisah perjuangan Robert, dkk oleh orang lain yang sudah melihat petualangan mereka.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Mungkin kurang jelas kalo aku cuman ngomong gitu aja. Ini coba aku kasih contoh beberapa kalimat yang buat aku susah buat masuk kedalam alam fantasinya:</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Eloise berpikir,</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Tampang anak ini muram sekali! Tapi, dia menarik juga. Hmm, mungkin…</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Robert pun berpikir,</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Dasar anak manja! Aku pasti dapat kesulitan kalau berda di dekatnya!</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#000000;">Lalu, pelayan istana yang memandu Robert tadi muncul dan memberi peringatan pada Robert.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Nah, itu bagian dialognya. Benernya ada beberapa dialog lain, tapi satu ini udah cukup buat jadi contoh. Dari kalimat diatas, bagian Eloise berpikir dan Robert berpikir itu yang bikin aku ga bisa masuk dalem alam pikiran mereka. Aku tidak “merasakan” kalau mereka itu berpikir, tapi “diberitahu” kalo mereka itu lagi berpikir. Begitu juga ketika karakter merasa tegang, atau tertawa. Aku hanya diberitahu perasaan mereka tanpa bisa ikut merasakannya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Mungkin karena itu juga aku jadi ngerasa bosen sangat sewaktu adegan udah keluar dari battle dan masuk masa tenang sesaat.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Selain itu, tidak ada pertanyaan atau ketegangan yang dibangun yang bisa memaksa pembaca untuk terus membaca (at least for me). Untuk sisi Robert, bagian ini sudah tidak mungkin bisa timbul karena segala pertanyaan tentang masa lalu Robert sudah dijelaskan habis-habisan dalam dua bab flashback diawal-awal.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Selain itu, novel ini juga diisi penuh sama berbagai macam jurus yang dikeluarkan karakternya. Sayangnya kebanyakan jurus hanya dijelaskan berupa nama, tanpa deskripsi bagaimana gerakannya. Berbeda dengan jurus sihirnya yang diberi penjelasan tentang bentuk sihirnya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Selain itu pengarang, Andry Chang, juga sering sekali mengulang berbagai macam nama yang dibuatnya. Mulai dari nama kuda, sampai ke nama senjata. Awalnya memang bagus kalau tahu senjata itu punya nama, berarti bukan senjata sembarangan. Tapi kalau terlalu banyak jadi membosankan juga. Apalagi pengulangan itu bisa terjadi di adegan battle yang seharusnya dibuat ber-pace cepat dan menekankan adegan battle-nya sendiri.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Lalu, apa ga ada sisi baik dari novel ini? Ga juga. Selain kesalahan yang udah aku sebut diatas, sisi positif dari novel ini adalah kepribadian para karakter yang terasa jelas dan berbeda satu sama lain.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Kita bisa dengan sekejap tahu sifat dan kepribadian khusus tiap karakter bahkan waktu karakter tiba-tiba menjadi bejibun banyaknya. Mulai dari Christoper yang ceroboh dan serakah; Bapa Andreas yang bertugas sebagai penenang dalam tim Robert; Kedua karakter bergelar bangsawan dan pemimpin elf yang ketiganya jelas banget pengen jadi pemimpin dalam kelompok besar para pejuang; Juga ada Tina, cewek penyihir yang jauh lebih dingin dan pendiam daripada Robert; Dan sebagainya.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Kesimpulan</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><span style="color:#000000;">Overall, novel ini benernya worth reading, kalo aja aku ga gampang bosen ditengah-tengahnya .</span></p>

Ao fim dos jogos, sorteamos um exemplar do Livro do Jogador em português.</p>
<p>O Worldwide Dungeons &#38; Dragons Game Day foi um evento mundial com o objetivo de divulgar o lançamento do Monster Manual 2, e também foi a data escolhida pela Devir Livraria para lançar a versão em português do Player&#8217;s Handbook, ou Livro do Jogador.</p>
<p>Na aventura, os personagens perseguiram uma Clériga Kobold pelas Cavernas Prateadas, encontrando dois novos tipo de Orc, Drakes, Arbalesters, novos besouros gigantes e também toparam com o mortífero Rust Monster, o flagelo de qualquer aventureiro (exceto, talvez o Druida). Ao fim, puderam ter uma pequena visão do que os novos dragões metálicos reservam para personagens incautos.</p>
