It’s been a long time since I posted last time. Shortage of time and mainly drive to post. I have now like 50+ rolls accumulated for posting and that prohibits me to do it even further.

But I’ll try.

I think both of these came out quite lovely, and the slight sepia gives them a little extra warmth.  I’ll post the straight B&W next

for comparison.  As usual, the Canon Sonnar lens really sings.  It excels at drawing people at wide apertures, there’s

warmth, smoothness and character to spare.  Foreground to background separation, pleasing bokeh and just enough sharpness

but no bite.  And of course the M3 maximizes the 50mm lens: it has the best viewfinder and focusing patch, is small, quiet and discreet

and puts the subject at ease.  After poking the giant gripped 5D and 24-70 (with hood) in Jill’s face all afternoon I’m sure she felt more than a little relief

when I put it away and picked up the Leica.  It’s like shooting an Olympic target match pistol.  The 5D is closer to a riot shotgun, about as heavy and just

as subtle.

This is only a small sample of the metalwork that can be found in many parts of the new Stieren Center for Exhibitions in the McNay Art Museum.  This piece acts as a divider between two galleries.  Other pieces can be found beneath stairways and on the ceilings.  I love the texture that it adds to the room, and as you saw before, it creates some amazing shadows. The logjam pattern is even repeated as texture in the sidewalks outside of the museum.

My 8 year old son and his good friend were amazingly adorable as they seriously contemplated each piece of art at the McNay last week.  It melted my heart.

at Lake Erie. We could not find a hotel to stay that night because of the labor day. We ended up in some crapy one for almost 100 bucks per night. It was really not worth the money.

at the Niagara falls. We did not want to go there but my mum wanted and she set an appointment with her friend so we had to go. It’s too turisty.

we decided to go to that boat as well. At least it was fun.

Have been here for a couple of days – not enough time to get used to the time difference but enough to know I am going to be all over the place when I get home tomorrow.

Work has been very full on, breakfast meetings to receptions and dinners in the evening and so I cannot promise many pictures. I think I managed to use one film through the whole trip and that was mainly in the large cemetery next to the hotel in the 20th arrondissement where Jim Morrison amongst many are buried. My flight landed at 6am on Tuesday morning and so I had time to kill before meetings and so it was as good a place as any to get some air.

Last night I was at a reception in the Town Hall on the Rue de Rivolli and as I have an old picture of the building from the outside, I have added it below. The building is as stunning inside as out but I managed not to have a camera with me for the first time in about a year.

It’s always good to see people out with film cameras these days and this guy was in the Pompidou carrying a massive Mamiya RZ67 with a handle as it is so large.

And finally the day ended at the train station at the CDG Airport, that mirrors the brutalism of the concrete buildings of the airport.
