<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>The King of Fighters</em> (KoF) ha sido una serie que ha visto un sin número de secuelas, cruzado universos y hasta creado una fanaticada que jura que es la mejor serie de juegos de pelea. Durante años se ha enfrentado a <em>Street Fighter</em> (en Japón mayormente) y siempre ha tenido que conformarse con el 2do lugar. Llegando a su duodécima iteración, <em>The King of Fighters XII</em> decide dejar atrás sus gráficas de la generación pasada por un &#8220;look&#8221; más adecuado para la era HD y por fin se une a los miles de juegos que se conectan ONLINE, pero ¿Es <em>The King of Fighters XII</em> el verdadero renacimiento de la serie? ¿Logrará sacar a <em>Street Fighter</em> del trono y proclamarse como el verdadero Rey de los Peliadores? Todo esto y mucho más a continuación.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#999999;"><span style="color:#000000;">Antes que nada quisiera señalar que este juego es mi primera entrada en la serie de <em>The King of Fighters</em> (sin contar <em>CAPCOM vs. SNK</em> para el <em>Dreamcast</em>). Con ese pequeño detalle hechado al lado, el acercamiento que tomé para esta reseña fue como si este juego fuera el primero de la serie, asi que no voy a juzgarlo por lo que le falta sino como hace con lo que tiene.</span></span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#999999;"><span style="color:#000000;">Lo más obvio de <em>The King of Fighters XII</em> (<em>KoFXII</em>) es el arte. <em>SNK</em> siempre se ha distinguido por sus detallados &#8220;Sprites&#8221; y este juego no es excepción. La animación tampoco se queda atrás. <em>KoFXII</em> contiene una de las mejores animaciones en 2D que he visto en cualquier juego de ésta generacíon de consolas. Aquí encontrarás que cada &#8220;stage&#8221; contiene un sin número de elementos que le dan vida y personalidad. Los peliadores también están bien dibujados y animados que hay veces que es dificil creer que estás jugando un juego de video y no viendo una película de animación japonesa. Pero no todo es perfecto en este departamento, cuando <em>SNK</em> dibujó a estos peliadores, se les olvidó que entramos a la era de visuales HD. ¿A que me refiero? Lamentablemente estos &#8220;sprites&#8221; sufren de &#8220;pixelation&#8221; en Televisores HD. El juego provée unos filtros para disminuir el &#8220;pixelation&#8221; pero lo que hace es empeorar los visuales.</span></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#999999;"><span style="color:#000000;">En el departamento de audio no encontraremos nada fuera de lo común que otros juegos de peléa ya tengan. <em>KoFXII</em> provée voces en ingles y en japonés (preferiblemente). Cada &#8220;stage&#8221; contiene su propia música pero no es algo que vas a estar cantando cuando no estes jugando, es así de olvidable.</span></span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Pero lo más importante de un juego de pelea no es como se ve o como se escucha, sino como juega. Es en ésta categoría que <em>KoFXII</em> excede. Comenzando con la pantalla para seleccionar tu peliador, <em>KoFXII</em> provée 22 peliadores y te da a escoger hasta 3 para formar un equipo y el orden en que van a salir. Al principio pensaba que se podía entrar y sacar peliadores durante el round (al estilo &#8220;TAG&#8221; de <em>Marvel vs. Capcom 2</em>) pero en realidad es que una vez le ganen al peliador que está fuera, entra el que le sigue en linea. En el departamento de ataqués, para aquellos como yo que crecieron jugando Street Fighter ( y sus guzilliones de versiones) notarán que solo tendran 2 tipos de puños y patadas (débil y fuerte) a diferencia de los 3 tipos de puños y patadas de la famosa serie de Capcom. Cada peliador tiene 1 agarre, alrededor de 4-6 &#8220;special moves&#8221; y de 1-3 &#8220;super moves&#8221; (dependiendo por peliador). Por lo que visto, a pesar de la diferencia de movimientos por peliador, el juego esta bien balanceado. Otro elemento donde este juego excede es en su sistema de contra ataque o &#8220;counters&#8221;. <em>KoFXII</em> provee 2 tipos de &#8220;counters&#8221;, &#8220;Guard Attack&#8221; y &#8220;Critical Counter&#8221;. En &#8220;Guard Attack&#8221; cuando bloqueas un ataque, automaticamente contra atacas con un golpe que tumba a tu oponente. En &#8220;Critical Counter&#8221; cada vez que conectas un golpe o bloqueas se va llenando una barra verde debajo de tu energía, una vez llena empezará a brillar y a disminuir, antes que desaparezca debes conectar un golpe fuerte y si diste correctamente entras en un modo donte tu oponente no puede hacer nada y tienes la oportunidad de volverte loco dándole hasta que la barra verde desaparezca. Una vez te familiarices con la mecánica del juego, es un placer ejecutar los movimientos y ver el caos que creas ante tu oponente.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>KoFXII</em> provée (al igual que otros juegos contemporáneos de este género) modos de multijugador local y ONLINE. El multijugador local tiene la opción de peliar 3 vs.3 o 1 vs. 1 con amigo sentado a tu lado. En el multijugador ONLINE peleas para obtener un rango mundial o puedes tener peleas amigables con extraños y amigos sin el objetivo de rango mundial. Algo que me gustó mucho de el modo ONLINE es la habilidad de crear un CLAN (exclusivo para el <em>PLAYSTATION 3</em>) y tirarte por supremacía ONLINE contra otros clanes. Claro, todo esto se ve bonito en palabras, pero lamentablemente para el tiempo en que escribía ésta reseña el modo ONLINE estaba injugable.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Donde <em>KoFXII</em> falla (EPICAMENTE) es en los &#8220;Features&#8221;. Para empezar el &#8220;single player&#8221; es un &#8220;time atack&#8221; donde compites en 5 rounds de 3 peliadores por el tiempo mas rápido en victorias (el cual se registra en un leaderboard local y online). También no tiene ningun rasgo de historia o motivo para cada peliador, dejando a &#8220;noobs&#8221; con la serie (como yo) en la oscuridad. Además de el multijugador local y online, nos provée un modo de práctica, acceso al <em>PlayStation Store</em> y una Galería. Es triste ver que un juego que se tardó 4 años en desarrollo se sienta tan incompleto.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Al final de todo el juego me encanta, pero es dificil recomendar <em>KoFXII</em> a $60 teniendo pocos &#8220;features&#8221; y un modo ONLINE que funciona cuando le da la gana. Si eres un fanático de los juegos de pelea y tienes amigos con quién jugar (a tu lado) te lo recomiendo por su profunda mecánica de pelea. Por otro lado, si te gustan estos juegos pero no tienes con quién jugar, alquílalo o espera que baje de precio. <em>KoFXII</em> tiene personalidad y espíritu, pero se queda corto antes otros juegos del mismo género que ya están disponibles en el mercado. Por el momento el renacimiento tendrá que esperar hasta el próximo año.</p>

<title><![CDATA[KOF XII, la saga ya no da pa más.]]></title>

Hace 15 años aprox., cuando los “videos” se encontraban en su apogeo, una compañía japo llamada SNK se mandó <strong>King of Fighters 94</strong>, el primero de una saga que con el tiempo cultivó tanto fans como decepciones.<br />
El concepto principal de juntar otras franquicias como Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, Psycho Soldiers, entre otros, fue genial e inimaginable en el momento. Pero SNK lo hizo, justificando su slogan <strong>“El futuro es ahora”</strong> por única vez en toda su existencia. Después de que en el 2001 la empresa se fue a la mierda por problemas económicos, la serie KOF fue adoptada por Playmore y Eolith, que lo único que hicieron fue colocar las moneas y producir las subsiguientes cacas desarrolladas por <strong>BreezzaSoft</strong>, empresa formada por los cesantes de la quebrada SNK.</p>

Muchos putean a los nuevos peces gordos por el hundimiento y conchesumadrización de la saga. Yo discrepo con esto.  Francamente <strong>el 98 fue el último KOF decente</strong>, lanzado 3 años antes de la “caída” y los títulos que seguían sólo parecían cumplir con la premisa anual. Gráficamente no mejoraba en nada, los únicos cambios visuales se enfocaban en caricaturizar a sus personajes con el típico y ultra rayado <em><strong>Anime Style</strong></em>. La movilidad tiesa era perdonable en los años 90, pero pasando el 2000 fue algo que ni siquiera se molestaron en pulir. Pa que decir de los cambios de jugabilidad en personajes icónicos, una estupidez. En fin, después de estos maravillosos 16 años, nos llega el <strong>KOF XII</strong>, última entrega de algo que lamentablemente nunca se va a acabar. Después de toda la euforia y expectativas que causó entre los fans más ingenuos y fieles (<strong>fiel = “perdono todo aunque me vean la cara de weón”</strong>) SNK Playmore tira esta wea disfrazada de gráficos HD con una especie de Cell Shading pa “anime-nizar” aún más la wea. El poco entusiasmo que tenía en esta versión se fue por el wáter. Es increíble la habilidad que tiene SNK Playmore para seguir arruinando lo que ya estaba arruinado. </p>

Voy a clarificar esto diciendo lo que KOF XII <strong>tiene</strong> y <strong>no tiene</strong>:</p>

<strong>TIENE</strong> gráficos HD pa dar la impresión de “todo es mejor y bonito”;<br />
<strong>TIENE</strong> sólo 22 weones, pobre comparando la cantidad de otras entregas;<br />
<strong>TIENE</strong> personajes qliaos que nadie ocupa;<br />
<strong>TIENE</strong> la ausencia de Mai Shiranui, wea incomprensible e imperdonable;<br />
<strong>TIENE</strong> 0 historia;<br />
<strong>TIENE</strong> Supers más fomes que la mierda;<br />
<strong>TIENE</strong> una sola barra de SUPER cagona;<br />
y finalmente <strong>TIENE</strong> online con sobre abuso del lag;</p>
<p style="font-size:13px;font-family:Trebuchet MS;color:#CCCCCC;line-height:22px;">
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> una excelente jugabilidad;<br />
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> modo historia, campaña o modo arcade;<br />
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> jefes (¬_¬);<br />
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> a Mai Shiranui por la chucha, ¿pueden creer esa wea?;<br />
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> personajes nuevos;<br />
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> nuevos modos de juego (ahh el online lleno de lagging es nuevo);<br />
<strong>NO TIENE</strong> espectacularidad;<br />
y por supuesto <strong>NO TIENE</strong> interés;</p>
<p style="font-size:13px;font-family:Trebuchet MS;color:#CCCCCC;line-height:22px;">
Decisiones infinitamente imbéciles como <strong>quitar a Mai Shiranui</strong> pero sí colocar a personajes reqliaos como Duo Lon, Shen Woo, Goro Daimon, Chin Gentsai, Raiden y Mature po weón, no tiene perdón de Buda, ni del <strong>Terrible Gamer</strong>. Por qué chucha no sacaron una wea de tan pobre envergadura pa una consola portátil como la <strong>PSP</strong> o <strong>DS</strong>. Por lo menos ahí nadie hubiese esperado nada. En definitiva, pico pa siempre con KOF y sus putas secuelas como la callampa. Me planto a jugar <strong>Ultimate Mugen</strong> y por supuesto <strong>Street Fighter IV</strong>, un <em>fighting game</em> que sí es la zorra.</p>

<strong>PD:</strong> Estrít Faiter Cuatro no será la 9na maravilla del mundo pero es 100 mil veces mejor que los KOF 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, XI y XII juntos.</p>

<p>The King of Fighters (Japonês: ザ・キング・オブ・ファイターズ = Za Kingu obu Faitāzu; Pronúncia: Dâ King óv Fáitars; Português: O Rei dos Lutadores), ou KOF, é uma série de videogames de lutas com características de animes e mangás, produzidas pela SNK inicialmente em 1994. <p>The Stinger Report has sent us the rundown on two new arcade titles that are headed to the UK and specifically London. The first is Haunted Museum, which we first heard about at IAAPA but since then there had been no information on the game; the second is the well-known fighter King Of Fighters XII. The Stinger says the following about Taito&#8217;s Haunted Museum:</p>

<p>To get a better idea of those graphics, click on the thumbnails below (images via ITMedia).  As for the cabinet, I noticed that it follows Konami&#8217;s recent light-gun game designs, as was seen with Silent Hill and Castlevania (ok, CV isn&#8217;t technically a light-gun game). I also wonder if the Haunted Museum theme has anything to do with &#8220;Night at the Museum&#8221; with a weird edge. The themes are quite varied, from Egypt, to killer clowns to space battles so at the very least it offers something for everyone.</p>

<p>A SNK sempre foi renomada por suas ótimas franquias de luta e com King of Fighters XII ela dá o tão esperado pulo para a era HD.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Com lançamento marcado para 7 de julho, muitas fotos já circulam a internet e fazem crer que, salvo algumas reclamações dos fãs mais aficcionados (como a aparente ausência da personagem predileta de todos, Mai Shiranui, e o novo estilo de alguns personagens), será um King of Fighters puro sangue em toda sua glória.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Não há dúvida que é o jogo mais bonito da série e a opção por mantê-lo 100% desenhado (nada modelado em 3d), dando uma grande repaginada no sprites originais dos mais de 20 personagens presentes na versão mais nova agradou à todos, principalmente tendo em vista a falta de títulos dessa natureza hoje em dia no mercado.</p>
<p>Para melhorar ainda mais as coisas, exclusivamente para os proprietários de Playstation3 será lançada uma réplica do controle de Neo Geo (que certamente ainda será útil em outros jogos de luta &#8211; Tekken 6 em controle de Neo Geo???).</p>

<p>April is the month that King Of Fighters XII finally arrives and with that there are a couple of things that are worth mentioning.</p>
<p> First remember to check out the <a href="http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/official/kof-xii/" target="_blank">official Japanese website </a>for the game for any updates. I know that we have mentioned the site before but the nice thing about these official sites is they start out as teasers and slowly build up from there so if you need a KOF12 fix then that is one place guaranteed to have screens of the game and more.</p>
<p>Second, would you like to have your own KOF12 arcade machine? I sure would and if you are good at fighters and particularly fighters in the vein of KOF, then you have a chance to win one. Evo and Iginition are teaming up to bring the first KOF12 tournament to the US. The grand prize is the aforementioned KOF12 arcade machine and the tournament will be held as a stand-alone event, separate from Evolution that is taking place in July.  The KOF12 tourney will take place at 12PM on May 30th at Element in Hollywood, CA. They will hold a 128-man single elimination tournament which you can <a href="http://evo2k.com/koftournament" target="_blank">sign up for here</a>. They also note that the Tilt in Portland, Ore. has a KOF12 machine &#8211; I am not sure if any other locations in the US do at this time. <p>A lot of people are excited about SNK&#8217;s upcoming King Of Fighters XII. I am one of them although I do admit that my enthusiasm for the game has been dampered a little bit by the impending console release in the US on July 7th (the game is scheduled to be released in arcades in Japan in April) and it <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">seems like they have decided to use the VS. format only for the game like SFIV which means that operators have to buy two units, thus increasing the cost of investment on the game</span> (in the comments fubarduck says otherwise). Despite those problems (from my operator point of view), it  still looks like a great game so I look forward to playing it either way.</p>
<p>Anyways, there is an interview up on French gaming site Jeuxactu with the producer of KOFXII, Maasaki Kukinko. They talk about HD graphics and the decision to stick with 2D art for this one, how the gameplay compares to other KOF games (it appears that they are trying to make it feel more like KOF98) and more. <p>Ao menos é o que parece.</p>
<p>A SNK Playmore lançou oficialmente um trailer americano do jogo e listou apenas o Playstation 3 como plataforma alvo. O lançamento da versão americana ocorre já no verão do hemisfério norte (Maio-Julho)!</p>
<p>O braço japonês da compania não se pronunciou se a versão do Xbox 360 está confirmada no Japão ou também foi cancelada. De qualquer forma, pelo menos inicialmente, apenas os donos do Playstation 3 poderão deliciar-se com o lindíssimo fighter 2D.</p>

<p>The roster for the upcoming installment of the King of Fighters XII has been released and for those interested, you can find out all the details of each character, including measurements, birthdate, and more (if you understand Japanese). I am surprised to only see 20 characters on the roster (I&#8217;m used to KOF 98 where there is twice that but I admit that I haven&#8217;t played the newest installments of the gamesince 2003) but even with a smaller roster than some  KOF titles, it has many fan favorites and is overall a well-rounded line-up. <p><font color="#999999">I just saw the promo trailer for KOFXII and by the gods does it look <b>sexeh!</b> SNK claims that all the sprites used for the last 10 years of KOF are going to be scrapped and new sprites have been made for every character in the 12th installation of this fighting game. The team&#8217;s goal was to make the best 2D fighting game ever. Earlier suspicions of cell shading on 3D models was scrapped when the video came out and featured Ash, Kyo, Benimaru, Kim, Athena and Terry duking it out with such fluid motion that you&#8217;d wonder why they didn&#8217;t do this way back then. The sprites of the characters look so gorgeous that they look like they were designed and animated for an anime rather than for the game. Screenshots of the promo vid below. Enjoy!</font></p>
<p><font color="#339966"><b>Personal Byte: </b>Personally, I find the footage quite gorgeous and I&#8217;m actually looking forward to seeing this hit the arcades. I&#8217;m also hoping the physics of this fighting game would change a bit because I&#8217;ve always found the KOF series on the stiff side, but then that&#8217;s probably because I&#8217;ve played SF more than I played KOF. Nevertheless, there&#8217;s no deducting the fact that this is one gorgeous piece of work.</font></p>
