I’ve been a bit concerned about the state of Thomas and Papergirl’s marriage of late.  They’ve not been wanting to try for a baby, he’s been rolling wishes to speak to Sherry Bunch, and she’s been rolling wishes to befriend her male acquaintances.  So I sent them for a romantic break in France.

Of course, I got them doing some skilling, learning and exploring, too.  There are new grape varieties in France.  We discovered three and Thomas harvested some for us to plant at home.  They also act as bait for the French fish, and ingredients for nectar.

Thomas had a go at making nectar with grapes, lime and apples.  The game told us it was disgusting, which might be a fair point.  You can purchase a billion different varieties of nectar at the store onsite, which makes me think the nectar skill and LTW might be very difficult indeed.

Papergirl was sent rummaging to see if she could build up her journalistic skills writing some stories on her French buddies.  She could rummage, but never enough to dig up any dirt (or indeed find anything exciting).

She spent a lot of time buttering up the locals to improve her charisma.  She can talk about her adventures and discuss the local gossip with them.  She can’t interview them, sadly.  On the phone, you can talk to friends in France, or long-distance friends (back home) and when you get home you can also call your long-distance holiday friends, and I’ve heard you can invite them over.  It’s now my ambition to gain spouses from these destinations for future Dayes.

Here, Papergirl is learning songs.  She learned two songs from the shopkeeper.  When she sang one, ‘Je T’aime’ back to him, they got a negative moodlet because he was in a relationship.  Ha.  I didn’t notice her gaining any music skill from the songs though.

In the bedroom she taught the songs to Thomas and he sang the love song back to her.  I spammed their romantic interactions but they had no try for baby option come up, and I thought maybe it just couldn’t happen in France, so I sent them to sleep.

The next day I sent Papergirl off to visit the sights and talk to more locals, while I got Thomas to read his fishing books then carry out his main mission here, to catch the unique fish.

He didn’t seem too impressed with frogs.

Snails were perhaps a little more impressive, given their size.  You can also catch crawfish in France (and some more normal fish).  Fishing here can all  be done in the same place and seems fairly straightforward, but in China I think it’ll be more of a challenge given the number of fishing books and fishing spots for that place.

Papergirl enjoyed whizzing around on the motorbike.  I also sent the two of them for a romantic meal at the cafe in France but she couldn’t eat grilled salmon, so she still hasn’t eaten her favourite meal (Thomas has had key lime pie now, hurrah).

Fortunately, this is not Thomas displaying his sexytime moves.  We bought a camera and Papergirl can ask people to pose.  She didn’t take a picture, but I’m considering letting Eddie Kidd do one of the photography based LTWs so he’ll inherit it on his child birthday (assuming children can use cameras).

After a lot of faffing about (and some obligatory bathroom flirting), they finally succumbed.

Another baby is on the way – and only a few hours before they had to come home.

Evel has started cooking up some of the fancy new WA recipes.  Here she’s seen cooking felafel.  She’s so skillful, she doesn’t even need to look at what she’s doing.  A very cute thing (that will probably become annoying) was that she sang the song she learned in China while she was cooking.  Aw.

Now here’s something exciting.  Look at the bottom option Thomas has here.  It says ‘fertilise garden with best fertiliser’.  Now that seems a very useful new interaction indeed and a much less timewastey one than having to do all the fertilizing manually.  Oh, and we learned more about that darn omni at the science facility.  You can only feed or harvest it at certain times of the day.  Iiiinteresting.

I’m not entirely sure I approve of pregnant women driving around Sunset Valley on mopeds without helmets on.

I sent Papergirl out to do some interviews and reviews to make the best use of her pregnancy… only… nowhere was available to review?  Whaaat??  I hope this is merely the Sim nanny state enforcing new restrictions on pregnant sims and not some patch/WA glitch that has stopped journos doing journalistic things, or I will NOT BE IMPRESSED.

Cos, yeah, she can’t interview, either.  She went to the library to read Totally Preggers and build charisma.  I got her to give a flirty introduction to some townie because I thought it might be better for charisma (I wasn’t going to have her take the flirting anywhere other than that).  Only Abe chose that moment to enter the library and he wasn’t best impressed with his daughter-in-law’s behaviour.  He wasn’t even impressed when she told him a fifth grandchild was on the way, and last time I saw him, he had a wish to have five grandchildren, so you think he’d be over the moon.  Maybe being the living dead has given him a bit of a sense of humour bypass.

His oldest granchildren both aged up.  I was all ready to get Piranha out looking for a spouse to turn into a purple ghost (I like the idea of favourite colour ghosties)… when I realised I had chosen her traits so far and would have to roll her YA trait.  She rolled… whatever and she did NOT roll Gold-digger.  No biggie, I had enough LTH to buy her a change, but reroll as much as I liked, Gold-digger would not come up.

So now she’s just after swimming in cash, which will be a doddle, and is back out looking for the mythical trilobite beetle.  She can have a few more bug hunts overseas, top out a part-time career and (pleeeeease) find that darn bug, and then I’ll let her live her life and make room for Gen 4.

Evel is much better behaved than her cousin.  I chose workaholic for her and she’s (of course) going to be a Five Star Chef.  Next time I play I’ll get a better picture of her – she aged up just as I was about to go out and I didn’t have time to get a good shot.

And finally…. I let Papergirl read Totally Preggers but nothing else and she didn’t go to the spa or have a back massage.  She was mostly happy throughout.  I chose one of this baby’s traits.  Koi Daye likes black and key-lime pie, so should be easy to please.  She rolled clumsy and I chose friendly.  I’m hoping she will test out super-popular via the medium of tag.

Join us next week when we should hopefully have a house full of old people and ghost children, we should discover what colour Koi’s hair will be and we’ll find out if Papergirl can ever conduct an interview or review again!

Relaxing, soothing, and ambient are a few of the many words you could use to describe Koi Pond by The Blimp Pilots. Koi Pond completely transforms your iphone into a peaceful pond with koi swimming around your screen. Features include touch reactive, dynamic water simulation, virtual fish, and many display options.

As far the integration goes, The Blimp Pilots did an amazing job. With it’s easy-to-use interface you won’t have any trouble navigating to the many features this app offers. To use it, simply drag your finger across the screen and watch the water ripple as the koi swim away. While using this app, I actually have fallen asleep before because of nature-like sounds.´

Considering the file size is only 9.4 MB, you could say that this app is really stable. It never lags, freezes, or crashes, so all in all this app does great job with stability.

The features this app comes with are excellent. First of all, it comes with a pretty decent amount of customizations that allow you to change what your koi pond looks like. To customize something, simply tap the bottom right corner of the screen and then the display options pop up. You can customize the color of your water, the amount of koi in the pond, and how many lily pads there are in the pond. You can also change the surface of which the koi are swimming over. Lastly, you can even customize the nature-like sounds playing in the background.

Another feature is that if you shake your iphone, then koi food will appear on your screen and then multiple amounts of koi will swim over to the food.

The Reuse/Replay value of this app is really high. If you’re one of the people who have a hard time falling asleep, this app is probably something you would use a lot. Not only because of the koi pond itself, but because of the ambient sounds in the background. Like I said before, they’re really soothing and calming.

To summarize everything up, if you like ambient applications, I highly recommend you buy this application.

Who said that squares are just a confined space bordered in four corners? Bellagio Square is a place that will give you the freedom to experience different things all at once. Were back and ready to explore Manila and its nearby environs. So we headed off to the heart of Manila coz we heard that there is a new tambayan in town, Bellagio. Square. Located at Jorge Bocobo St. in Malate Manila, Bellagio Square is the latest dining and entertainment place in town.

Composed of 10 establishments, the square provides customers a place to relax and have a good time. Businesses that are open here range’s from restaurants, spas, to beauty and wellness centers. Talk about perfect dining and relaxed pampering. The place used to be a parking lot of a famous bar. Neglected for several years until change of city officials who promptly led a drive to clean and modernize Malate, forever changed that drab looking vacant space into one of the hangouts of yuppies and teens. Unlike malls, Bellagio has a large al fresco area that can be an option for customers if they want to eat or drink inside or outside the place they patronize. The square is open more than 18 hours a day. Practically they are open almost twenty four hours a day, so no need to worry if you are planning to come here early in the morning or late in the evening. The construction of a nearby mall assures the Bellagio tenants continued influx of customers who want to take a night or day out after hours of tiring shopping in the mall.

Kitt and Arlene at Bioessence

Kitt and Arlene tired from the one month trip abroad immediately immersed themselves to the services of Bioessence spa to have a relaxing massage.

I don’t want to be left out so I tried the service of Tony and Jackey Korean hairstylist to get my haircut.
All stalls are just a stones throw away from each other so you can just literally hop from one place to another. Other establishment here are Koi, a Japanese inspired bar that offers Filipino food and beverages. To taste authentic food of Spain there is the Patio Guernica. Craving for Persian kebabs there is Simorgh.

Yummy but too hot for the palate

Fusion of Japanese and Korean shabu shabu in Naha. Visit Hong Kong for their pica-pica in Yin Lok Kui. Going Greek, we dined in the Hellas Tavernas which serve genuine and mean Mediterranean food. For the sweet tooth’s out there, take your delicious desserts in Whiteberry.

On weekends expect the crowds to triple in volume as bands are set to liven up the crowd with cool music. Try out this trendy place and see what all the rage is about.

describe Bellagio square in two words. It is a one stop shop for almost anything one needs. From restaurants to personal pampering. I personally like the Hellas Tavernas where a wicked serving of Greek delicacies can be found. At the middle of it is an open spacious space where one can unwind under the tapestry of the night sky. Added bonus is the bands that play here on weekends.

Synopsis:

Koshiro Saeki lives alone with his father and works with two co-workers; both of whom he doesn’t really relate to. He recently broke up with his girlfriend but seems rather apathetic about it. In fact, Koshiro is apathetic about his entire existence, not even really noticing that the seasons have changed. His life is about to change when he meets a 15 year old high school student, Nanoka, on a train. They end up going to an amusement park together where, despite being complete strangers, they end up pouring their hearts out to one another on a Ferris wheel and Koshiro starts developing slightly romantic feelings towards her. It’s revealed the same night, however, that Nanoka is actually Koshiro’s estranged sister. The two were separated long ago due to their parent’s divorce but now Nanoka will be moving in with Koshiro and their father as her high school is close by. Almost immediately, Koshiro finds himself caught in a web of complicated and conflicting emotions as he tries to fight off his ever growing romantic interests in Nanoka.

Review:

Warning: This may offend many audiences. This is because although there are comic-relief moments in Koi Kaze, it’s for the most part very intense. The anime deals with a subject matter which is a social taboo in a very psychologically in-depth way; perhaps far more so than the average viewer would like. If the question was “How far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?” then the answer would be “All the way” in Koi Kaze’s case. Much like NHK ni Youkoso (Welcome to the NHK), Koi Kaze is a very blatant look at the human condition that will, very sadly, probably not be very popular among many audiences as they would sooner cringe back from uncomfortable topics. The animation itself was quite pleasing as there is usually a fair amount of movement in the background (something I always find pleasing), fair attention to details and the players are all very well characterised. As for the characters, the important ones are all very three-dimensional, although the support characters, admittedly, do lack much definition – possibly an intentional contrast. The atmosphere is very powerful just about all the time as if every scene was very carefully thought out. The soundtrack is neither here nor there, but it works well for the anime and I couldn’t imagine it any other way. All in all, Koi Kaze is one of my favourite series although, as stated earlier, it’s definitely not for everyone.

No dia 11 de novembro, nessa avalanche de lançamentos de single, Yuna Ito não ficou de fora e também lançou seu 14º single, denominado “Let it Go”, após aproximadamente 5 meses ter lançado seu terceiro álbum, “Dream”, como vimos aqui.

A música que dá o nome ao single, “Let it Go” é tema do filme Tenshi no Koi (天使の恋) , como já adiantamos no blog, que estreou no dia 7 de novembro lá no Japão.

Esse filme contará com a Sasaki Nozomi, que, por coincidência, é a capa do novo single das Lil’B, “Tsunaida Te” (Confira a news aqui) e a personagem principal do videoclipe desse single. E como se não bastasse isso, tanto no longa quanto no clipe ela sofre, pois em Tenshi no Koi, o enredo se baseia em Rio (Sasaki), uma garota de 17 anos que se apaixona pelo professor (Shosuke Tanihara, o Takumi em Konkatsu!), de 35 anos e que sofre de uma doença terminal. Nem preciso dizer que o filme será triste, certo?

Voltemos a falar de “Let it Go”; essa música fala bastante de amor, como quase todas as outras da Yuna. O destaque vai mais pro videoclipe, que mostra a cantora com várias roupas (e bonita, como sempre), ao contrário do que foi no single anterior, “trust you”, que só mostrou ela sentada num cenário com uma árvore atrás dela, outro cenário com efeitos especiais e vários closes no rosto dela ._.

Além disso, o ritmo é bem no estilo “ballad”, aquela mesma fórmula de canção romântica+estilo pop. Pela letra, nota-se claramente que as partes têm a ver com o filme, como na parte final em que ela canta “Let it go, let it go, I know you have to go; Let it go, let it go, you’re always on my mind”.

A Yuna, desde o boom que teve quando interpretou Reira Serizawa no filme NANA, que resultou no seu debut single “ENDLESS STORY” chegar a dois Top 100 anual da Oricon (Em 2005, ficou na 20ª posição; em 2006, ficou na 85ª), não conseguiu mais obter tantas boas vendas assim, com raras exceções. Infelizmente, com “Let it Go” não será diferente, visto que, no ranking diário da Oricon, ela mal chegou aos top 10, alcançando uma 20ª posição no seu primeiro dia de vendas.

“Let it Go” virá com a música-título, que foi a música para Tenshi no Koi, e com a música b-side  “Happy Days”, que foi tema do comercial das lojas ABC Mart para divulgação dos sapatos “Hawkin’s Lady”, da Hawking Sports. O single foi lançado em duas versões: CD e CD+DVD, onde o CD conta com as duas músicas citadas acima e suas versões instrumentais, ao passo que o DVD virá com o clipe de “Let it Go” e seu making-of.

Sidder og leger med tanken om endnu en tatovering – eller det vil faktisk sige, at jeg blot mangler et færdigt design og penge til at betale for maleren. Jeg er ude i noget japansk koi, en karpe der traditionelt set symboliserer styrke og styrke i modgang.

Et motiv vil nok komme til at minde om en blanding af de her billeder, en koi i orange/rød (så den kommer til at matche min bushido på håndleddet) med vand og tåge. Farvemæssigt kommer den nok til at minde mest om billede nr. 2. Den kommer til at sidde på forsiden af højre skulder og brede sig bagover til skulderbladet og måske lidt over højre overarm.

Spent some time around the koi pond meditating on the agile delights of quickness.  Sometimes you’re just of a mind to play.  Today I drew fast swimmers.  The fast study is very different from other kinds of drawing.  Nicolaides called it gesture drawing when you seek out the essence of the thing from the inside out.  I’m not embarrassed to call it scribbling, though it’s scribbling of a high order.

Made a couple of these today, as well as rediscovered a couple that I’d made in notebooks as exploration for previous paintings.

The gesture of the lines can take on a life of their own.  It’s like listening to the syllables in a word.  The beauty of the activity is something that the artist should continually seek.  We are not just drawing things, we are drawing our thoughts, and discovering the forms and gestures of which thoughts are composed .  Along the way one discovers a world of inner hieroglyphs.

My work began today with this drawing above — a study for the “Big Guy” of the koi pond featured in my previous post. 

Agenor surfaced, too, while I was turning the pages of the notebook.  He’s the star of my first big koi pond.

I’m getting quite excited for my exchange but everything seemed so fuzzy — I can’t believe I’m going to spend half a year in Europe! (:

okay, the list of things that I wish to have in my backpack:

1. A backpack – duh! I haven’t gotten a sturdy, reliable backpack that screams ME yet. I saw this black, plain one from Muji. Nope, I’m not sombre and boring.. It is just plain enough for me to add some quirky elements.
2. A Macbook Pro — oh please, please, please. I need a Macbook pro to store my pictures; to BOOST my pictures and to skype my lovely family and friends in Singapore; all in other parts of Europe.
3. A Diana F+ Mini/ A Diana F+: Given that a mini is much lighter and more portable, I think I will go for the former. I’m a “Don’t Think, Just Shoot” person. I like to capture the little things around me… A lomo camera will work just fine for me.
4. To walk the uncharted terrains, I need a pair of stylish and reliable booties! (: I’m waiting for Caroline’s friend to pass them to me. I hope I will be able to fit into them.
5. That’s all for now. I’m not a very greedy girl. I have enough pretty notebooks, journals to jot down my thoughts. Actually, wait, a polaroid camera will be come in useful as well!
6. ok, since I have passed the NO.5 mark, I’m thinking if I have a satchel bag, I will be able to put in all my important documents and a bottle and my notebook while I cavort down the cobbled streets in Europe. (:

oh and during lunch today with some vjc choir people, Novabelle turned to Sheena and asked, “You are from Gabriel’s batch, right?”

I chuckled, “Gabriel is like a legend. He is well-known among all batches.”

Everyone laughed and Sheena added, “He is like the benchmark! Like Emma is Gabriel +2, Si Ying is Gabriel -1.”

“And you are Gabriel.” I said, matter-of-factly.

Even in the evening, when we had left the concrete jungle for the bustling heartlands, the Gabriel-benchmarking thing was still very much intact in our minds.

After we bumped into Mabel, a senior from VJ choir, I asked Sheena, “You know her right?”

Sheena replied with immediacy, “yes, of course I do! She is Gabriel +1!”.

We exchanged glances in slight disbelief and roared with laughter. (ok, roaring is an exaggeration, but yea.)

Model kolam tak berpengaruh langsung terhadap kesehatan koi. kondisi ini justru sangat tergantung pada kedalaman air kolam, instalasi pipa untuk menunjang sistem filterisasi, dan daya tampung. Pertimbangkan pula aspek ketersediaan lahan dan kemudahan akses memandangi koi.

Dinding Halus

Koi paling cocok dipelihara di kolam semen. Usahakan dinding,dasar,dan sudut kolam dibuat sehalus mungkin, bisa menggunakan keramik atau bahan lain yang halus.
Hal itu untuk mencegah terjadi luka di tubuh koi. Maklum koi mempunyai kebiasaan menggesekkan tubuhnya ke dinding dan dasar kolam. Nah, kalau permukaan dinding dan dsar kolam kasar, sisiknya bisa rusak dan terluka.
Dasar kolam tanpa hiasan dan aksesoris, karena kita memelihara koi untuk dilihat keindahannya. bukan melihat hiasan kolamnya.
Untuk meningkatkan kontras warna dan pola, orang mengecat kolam dengan warna hitam atau biru, itulah sebabnya foto-foto koi selalu dengan latar belakang warna biru.

Kedalaman Air

Kolam semakin baik, untuk koi ukuran lebih dari 40 cm, kedalaman kolam minimal 1,65m. Koi kurang dari 40cm, tidak masalah dengan kedalaman 1 m. Volume air kolam sangat mempengaruhi kesehatan koi. Seekor koi membutuhkan 4-5 ton air.
Juga penting diperhatikan adalah daya tampung kolam. Populasi ikan tidak terlalu padat. kolam ukuran 2m x 4m paling banyak diisi 30 ekor koi ukuran 15-18cm. Hindari penempatan koi ukuran kecil dalam jumlah sedikit dalam kolam besar. Karena hal itu akan menyebabkan mereka kesulitan menemukan pakan.

Filterisasi dan Aerasi

Kolam harus dilengkapi saluran air kotor dan saluran air bersih. Pipa saluran air kotor tertanam di dasar kolam (bottom drain). Saluran itu untuk mengalirkan kotoran yang tenggelam, semisal kotoran ikan dan kerikilkecil. Sementara kotoran mengambang seperti lumut mati disedot oleh saluran air kotor di permukaan air ( Over Flow ).
Saluran air bersih mengalirkan air bersih hasil penyaringan sistem filterisasi. Sistem filterisasi penting, karena koi membutuhkan kadar oksigen tinggi dan mutu air yang prima. Sistem filterisasi harus dibuat seefektif mungkin untuk mencegah masuknya berbagai jenis penyakit setidaknya memiliki 3 bilik ( Chamber ). Bilik atau chamber pertama berfungsi mengendapkan kotoran padat dibagian bawah ruang penyaringan.
Prinsip itu berlaku pula dibilik kedua dan ketiga. Di kedua chamber terakhir masih dilengkapi dengan filter mat sebagai media tumbuh bakteri pengurai. Bakteri ini membantu proses penjernihan air.
Perhatikan pula aerasi (Pembentukan gelembung udara di dalam kolam). Kadar oksigen tinggi membuat ikan cepat besar. Ketersediaan oksigen melimpah akan mempercepat proses penyerapan saripati pakan dalam usus.
Di setiap kolam dipasang beberapa aerator sebagai pemasok oksigen dalam air. Selain itu, aerator juga membuat air kolam berarus sehingga koi akan sering bergerak. Koi rajin bergerak, ototnya semakin besar dan otomatis tubuhnya pun ikut melar.
Yang punya fungsi serupa aerator adalah pancuran atau air terjun karena dengan adanya itu membuat koi lebih tenang.

Butuh Sinar

Sinar matahari berperan penting dalam pencegahan penyakit dan pertumbuhan. Juga bisa membuat warna dan pola ikan tambah kinclong. Koi tidak terkena sinar matahari warnanya bisa pudar.
Dalam sehari, koi membutuhkan sinar matahari langsung minimal selama 3 jam. Apalagi untuk jenis koi hikari alias sisik mengkilap, semisal ogon dan kujaku. Bila mereka kurang sinar matahari, warna metalik sisiknya akan cepat memudar. Selain itu bisa mengundang berbagai penyakit.
Sinar matahari juga mendorong berkembangnya ganggang spirulina. Nah, kalau dimakan bisa mendongkrak warna koi. Celakanya, kalau sinar matahari terlalu banyakkolam pun ditumbuhi lumut.
Sinar matahari juga berfungsi untuk menaikkan suhu yang terlampau dingin. Tak heran kalau koi terlihat lebih sering di daerah kolam yang terkena sinar matahari. Karena sebenarnya mereka suka dengan air hangat.

Membangun Kolam

Bagi pecinta koi, kolam adalah bagian teramat penting. Bila mungkin membangun kolam dengan sistem filterisasi tercanggih. Karena sebenarnya memelihara koi adalah bermain dengan air kolam. Karenanya perlu langkah-langkah pembuatan kolam secara benar.
Faktanya, tak semua hobiis bisa membuat kolam sesuai kaidah baku. Karena pekerjaan ini memerlukan keahlian khusus. Kalau asal-asalan , kebocoran bisa menimpa setiap saat. Solusinya, ya dilakukan pembongkaran.
Berikut ini langkah-langkahnya :

A. Menentukan Lokasi

Langkah awal membuat kolam adalah menentukan lokasi. Kolam indoor atau outdoor? hal itu bakal berpengaruh terhadap sisitem filter yang dipilih. Diskusikan dulu dengan para ahli pembuat kolam. Pilih bentuk kolam sesuai selera. Bila kolam itu berada ditaman sebaiknya disesuaikan dengan gaya taman.
Secara garis besar, kolam terbagi dalam dua gaya, formal dan semiformal. Para pemain koi di indonesia, umumnya mengusung gaya formal. Cirinya, bentuk kolam persegi sehingga terkesan kaku. Sementara kolam semi formal biasanya berlekuk dan berada di taman.
Perhatikan pula kapasitas kolam.Halini erat kaitannya dengan jumlah dan ukuran ikan yang bakal anda pelihara. Konon setiap ikan berukuran jumbo (70 cm ke atas ), memerlukan air sekitar 4-5 ton.
Setelah letak dan gaya kolam ditentukan, tanyakan pula sistem filterisasi yang cocok digunakan. Ada aneka macam pilihan seistem filter. Sistem konvensional yang dilengkapi dengan media filter dalam chanber. Sistem media filter yang lebih kompak dan praktis. Sistem filter terakhir ini biasanya bersifat portable hingga mudah dibongkar pasang.

2. Penggalian dan pengecoran

Usai menentukan lokasi dan gaya kolam, selanjutnya dilakukan penggalian. Tipe tanah berbeda, ongkos pembuatan kolam pun bisa berbeda. Apalagi untuk kawasan dekat laut dan sumber air, baru digali 1 m, air pun menyembur. Biaya pun jadi lebih mahal. Karena perlu teknik khusus guna mencegah terjadinya rembesan pada kolam kelak. Pengecoran dan pemasangan bata dilakukan pada saat kondisi air tanah kering.

3. Mengaci

Setelah pengecoran, dilanjutkan mengaci atau plesteran. Sebaiknya plesteran ditambahkan pengeras seperti merguson. Setelah itu baru diberikan efoxy untuk mencegah timbulnya alkali semen yang bisa bersifat racun bagi koi.
Beberapa hobiis malah melapisi dinding kolam dengan sejenis coating. Langkah itu dipercaya bisa menghindarkan kolam dari pelbagai masalah seperti keretakan, rembes, dan keluarnya alkali dari semen. Pilih coating yang memiliki kemampuan sebagai bemper, alkaliresistant, mampu bernapas, bisa ditumbuhi lumut dan fleksibel.

4. Stabilkan kolam

Begitu kolam selesai dibangun, jangan langsung diisi ikan. Pasalnya sistem kolam belum berjalan maksimal. Air kolam masih sering terlihat hijau. Selain itu disinyalir masih adanya alkali dari plesteran semen.
Agar koi kelak dapat hidup sehat, kolam baru itu perlu dikuras selama tiga hari berturut-turut. Lebih sip lagi, hingga satu minggu. Setelah itu berikan garam ikan sebagai penetralisir air. Selanjutnya taburkan obat pembunuh jamur dan kutu.
Selama 1-3 minggu pertama, sebaiknya kolam diberikan probiotik. Dengan perlakuan seperti itu, kolam baru bisa diisi koi setelah 1 bulan. Ada baiknya anda memasukkan terlebih dahulu koi kategori”biasa”. bila dal 2 minggu terlihat sehat, silahkan masukkan koi-koi pilihan.

Problem kolam baru

Problem kolam baru bisa dilihat dari kondisi airnya, kolam baru akan mengalami air hijau, air kehijauan akibat dari alga tumbuh subur akibat oksigen, sinar matahari, dan tingginya kadar nitrat. apabila filternya bekerja maksimal pasti kadar nitratnya rendah.
Sistem filter yang baik pasti dilengkapi UV untuk mengikat alga menjadi gumpalan supaya mudah tersaring. Ketika kotoran sudah menumpuk, hanya dengan 2-3 kali pembilasan, media filter bisa digunakan lagi. Dalam keadaan ekstrim, walau kotoran sudah menumpuk filter masih bisa kerja optimal.
Problem lainnya dalah kebocoran . Disebabkan beton keropos. Faktor lain, kurang rapatnya sambungan pipa. Kebocoran juga diakibatkan pergerakan dasar tanah sehingga pondasi retak.
Cara mengatasinya, bagian yang bocor ditambal adonan semen. kadang trik ini tak berjalan mulus. Apabila lubang terlalu besar. Lebih parah lagi bila sumber kebocoran tidak ditemukan terpaksa kolam harus dibongkar.
Problem lainnya, ikan stres saat dilepas dikolam baru. Sebelum masuk kolam, rendam kantung plastik berisi ikan baru itu dalam kolam selama setengah jam, supaya ikan tak terlalu kaget saat dilepas.
Titik mati juga menjadi problem. Tempat kotoran menumpuk. Selain menguras kadar oksigen, juga mempercepat pertumbuhan lumut. akibatnya air cepat keruh. Lambat laut kadar amoniak meningkat. Bila dibiarkan, ikan keracunan dan mati. Titik mati timbul karena kurangnya arus air melewati daerah itu.

Jak ja tego nie lubię! ;] Kiedy zabieram się za wyszukiwanie obrazków do notki mam jakieś hasło, którym się kieruje… tylko dlaczego zawsze musi mi zejść na dziesiątki innych artów kompletnie nie związanych z tematem, ponieważ “muszę je zapisać bo są tak ładne!”? Tym samym znów przypchałam dysk obrazkami, ale co tam Może starczy tego na jakiś czas xD

Dziś przedstawiam wam kolejny Przegląd mang ^^ Aż sama jestem zdziwiona, że to już piąta odsłona Ostatnimi czasy nazbierało mi się mnóstwo tytułów z przeróżnych gatunków i jeśli moja notka skłoni was do rzucenia okiem na choć jeden z nich, to uznam ją za sukces ^^

Przy okazji – planuję zrobić takie mini wydanie specjalne Przeglądu, ale na czym to będzie polegało dowiecie się w przyszłości Teraz już zapraszam do lektury!

Barajou no Kiss – większość dziewczyn ma bzika na punkcie biżuterii, ale nie Anise Yamamoto. Przeszło jej, kiedy będąc dzieckiem dostała od swojego ojca różany kołnierzyk (chodzi o taki wisiorek-obrożę), który miał być swego rodzaju amuletem chroniącym ją przed złem. Jednakże był pewien haczyk – jeśli kiedykolwiek go ściągnie (łatwiej powiedzieć niż zrobić!) zostanie jej wymierzona “kara”. Nie żeby ją to obchodziło, ponieważ uwaga jaką przyciąga kołnierzyk w szkole nie jest dla niej niczym przyjemnym. Jednak kiedy ma miejsce pewien incydent, kołnierzyk zagadkowo znika, a ona dochodzi do wniosku, że kara o której mówił jej ojciec jest czymś innym niż jej się wydawało – dziewczyna zostaje Dominionem czterech Rycerzy Róży.

Kiedyś przez przypadek wpadłam na MALu na tą serię i po zobaczeniu kreski po prostu się zakochałam! Okropnie mi się podoba wygląd BnK ^^ Bohaterowie szybko budzą sympatię – tak Anise, nie będąca typową damą w opresji, jak i czwórka Rycerzy Róży, którzy przedstawiają świetny wachlarz osobowości. Każdy znajdzie tu swojego ulubieńca (moim od razu został Kaede ^^)  Historia jest ciekawa i szybko można się w nią wkręcić. Mamy trochę komedii i trochę romansu (w końcu ona jedna, a ich czworo/pięcioro ) – naprawdę bardzo polecam!

Zdecydowana, aby go odnaleźć i odzyskać swoje skradzione serce Hiyoki przenosi się do Akademii Św. Nazaret. Zamieszkuje w akademiku S-Hall… i szybko zdaje sobie sprawę, że jego mieszkańcy nie są tacy jak myślała… Na ten przykład, wszyscy to chłopcy!

To jest druga po BnK manga od Ayi Shouoto, którą chcę polecić. Skusiłam się na nią ze względu na kreskę, ale szybko okazuje się, że schodzi ona na drugi plan, ponieważ wciągamy się w historię Opowieść ta zawiera mały element nadprzyrodzony, mianowicie główna bohaterka ma zdolność oglądania snów innych ludzi. Okropnie mnie to zainteresowało, gdyż nie pamiętam, żebym widziała gdzieś ten motyw

Fairy Tail – Lucy to 17-letnia dziewczyna, która chce zostać w pełni wykwalifikowanym magiem. Pewnego dnia, odwiedzając miasto Harujion spotyka Natsu, młodego chłopaka, który bardzo łatwo dostaje choroby lokomocyjnej. Nie jest on jednak zwykłym dzieciakiem. Jest członkiem jednej z najbardziej (nie)sławnych gildii magów – Fairy Tail.

Ogólnie rzecz biorąc, to mamy do czynienia z typowym shonenem. Lucy, Natsu i wybierają sobie zadania, które ludzie zlecają do wykonania członkom gildii magów i przeżywają podczas nich spore przygody. Mamy dużo walk, przesympatycznych bohaterów i duże tempo akcji. Trochę nie mogłam się na początku przyzwyczaić do kreski (jest dość nietypowa), ale szybko wkręciłam się w fabułę i teraz z chęcią pochłaniam kolejne rozdziały ^^ Polecam!

Jedyna rzecz zdolna to powstrzymać, to kamienie Rave. Niestety 50 lat temu, zostały one rozrzucone po świecie w wyniku ogromnej eksplozji. Aby raz na zawsze rozprawić się z Dark Bring, Rave Master musi je teraz powtórnie zebrać – zadanie to zostaje powierzone 16-letniemu chłopcu o imieniu Haru Glory pochodzącemu z Wyspy Garage. Jest to seria, którą stworzył Hiro Mashima zanim zabrał się za Fairy Tail. Z ciekawości postanowiłam rzucić okiem na kilka pierwszych rozdziałów i muszę przyznać, że wywarły na mnie lepsze wrażenie niż początek FT. Jest to takie jakby sympatyczniejsze fantasy ^^ Mamy tu także plus dla co poniektórych dziewczyn – RM posiada wątek romantyczny Do tego dostrzegalny jest już w początkowej fazie historii, a trzeba wziąć pod uwagę, że całość ma 296 rozdziałów! ^^ Jest to dobry shonen, przy którym naprawdę przyjemnie można spędzić czas. Najlepsze jest też to, iż jeśli czyta się RM po FT, to od razu można stwierdzić, które postacie z tej drugiej serii były na kim wzorowane

Gakuen Alice – Mikan i Hotaru to dwie najlepsze przyjaciółki, które dorastały razem w małym miasteczku. Kiedy Hotaru przenosi się do szkoły dla geniuszów w Tokio, Mikan tak bardzo za nią tęskni, ze postanawia tam za nią pojechać. Okazuje się, że jej przyjaciółka uczęszcza do Gakuen Alice, szkoły dla ludzi obdarzonych zdolnościami nadprzyrodzonymi zwanymi “Alice”. Narumi, nauczyciel w tejże placówce, odkrywa, że Mikan też posiada swoją Alice i jeśli chce, także może się przenieść do Akademii. Znajdzie tam ona przyjaciół, miłość i przeżycia, których nigdy nie zapomni!

To jest seria, w której ostatnimi czasy zakochałam się po uczy, natomiast Natsume zaliczam do mojego prywatnego haremu ;P Genialna historia (z bardzo dobrym wątkiem miłosnym! Tutaj naprawdę widać, że uczucia się rozwijają i z czasem przeradzają w coś mocniejszego ^^) , która oprócz początkowej idyllicznej wizji ma też drugie, mroczniejsze dno. Niesamowici bohaterowie o pełnym rozrzucie charakterów. Od wiecznie pozytywnej Mikan, poprzez złośliwą Hotaru, Ruke – nieśmiałego blondyna oraz wcześniej wspomnianego Natsume, który jest geniuszem z niebezpieczną mocą i teoretycznie złą osobowością, a tak naprawdę… przekonajcie się sami ^^ Fajnie się także ogląda jak zmienia się kreska w trakcie serii, a bohaterowie widocznie dorastają Jak dla mnie mocne 10/10 – najlepsza tego typu seria od czasów CCS ^^ Z niecierpliwością czekam na kolejne rozdziały!

Millennium Snow znane także jako Thousand Years of Snow – 17-letnia Chiyuki Matsuoka urodziła się z chorobą serca, a jej lekarze właśnie orzekli, że nie dożyje tyle, aby zobaczyć tegoroczny śnieg. Touya to 18-letni wampir, który nienawidzi krwi i odmawia wybrania człowieka na swojego partnera – jeśliby to jednak zrobił, oboje mieliby przed sobą tysiąc lat życia.

Historia ta wyszła spod pióra (zastanawiam się czy jest to dobre określenie dla mangi xD) Bisco Hatori znanej ze swojej drugiej serii, mianowicie Ouran High School Host Club ^^ Ostatnio nabyłam polskie wydanie Ourana i naprawdę bardzo mi się spodobał, a więc postanowiłam zobaczyć co też jego autorka jeszcze stworzyła MS to romantyczna opowieść z dobrze wykreowanymi bohaterami (strasznie spodobała mi się Chiyuki – przebojowa dziewczyna! ) i ciekawą, dość nietypową historią o człowieku i wampirze (w pewnym momencie pojawia się także wilkołak) – od razu zaznaczam, że nie chcę słyszeć, iż jest to podobne do Zmierzchu bo może się to źle skończyć dla osoby komentującej ;P Moim zdaniem warto zapoznać się z Tysiącem Lat Śniegu, ale istnieje mały problem. Aktualnie dostępne jest tylko 9 rozdziałów, ponieważ projekt ten wylądował na on-hold do czasu skończenia Ourana

Koi, Hirari – posiadająca czyste serce oraz kochająca jedzenie Sumire Misaki przenosi się razem z rodziną do miasta, gdzie zakochali się jej rodzice. Dziewczyna także doświadcza tu swojej pierwszej miłości – spotyka pewnego chłopaka kiedy ten chce uciec ze swojego domu! Los chce, ze Kaduki Miyamoto okazuje się kimś więcej niż początkowo by się wydawało – pochodzi z bogatej rodziny i jest tancerzem tradycyjnego japońskiego tańca! Czy pierwsza miłość Sumire okaże się szczęśliwa? A może leży przed nią prawdziwie wyboista droga…?

Już kiedyś pisałam apropo Miko Mitsuki i jej Rensou no Aria – tym razem przedstawiam wam inną serią jej autorstwa. Bardzo podoba mi się kreska tej Pani i swego czasu czytałam wszystko co wpadło mi w ręce znakowane jej nazwiskiem ^^ Historia lekko zahacza o dramacik (choć w głównej części to oczywiście romansidło) i jest ciekawie poprowadzona. Mimo, że ma tylko 2 tomy, łatwo się wciągnąć – później tylko się żałuje, iż się tak szybko się skończyła

By Hero, to one-shot, który zostawiłam sobie na koniec – Sendrick to mały wróbelek, który zawsze najbardziej na świecie nienawidził ludzi. Całe życie musiał w strachu przed nimi uciekać, ale pewnego dnia przypadkowo wpada na chłopczycę o imieniu Kayana. To nieoczekiwane spotkanie może sporo zmienić w poglądach Sendricka…

Raz na jakiś czas lubię przeczytać sobie jakiegoś romantycznego one-shota, niestety ostatnio trudno mi dogodzić. Prawda jest taka, że ciężko znaleźć coś oryginalnego (chyba za dużo ich już widziałam xD), ale By Hero to niespodzianka. Wróbelek odgrywa tu w pewnym sensie rolę narratora i dzięki niemu poznajemy losy głównych bohaterów – ciekawy pomysł, ładna realizacja, a charaktery zwierzaków po prostu świetne! ^^ Zdecydowanie warto przeczytać jeśli szuka się czegoś uroczego i nietypowego

Dwa dni pisania i udało mi się ukończyć Piąty Przegląd Mang ^^ Jako że aktualnie otaczają nas szare i ponure dni, mam nadzieję, że któryś z tych tytułów potrafił będzie choć na chwile odpędzić nieprzyjemny nastrój widoczny za oknem i zabrać was do bardziej kolorowego świata

Życzę miłego czytania, ja zaś idę sobie zrobić owocową herbatkę – nic tak nie przeciwdziała jesiennej depresji jak zapach malin unoszący się znad przyjemnie ciepłego kubeczka! ;]

PS: Nie mogę się powstrzymać, żeby nie powiedzieć choć słowa apropo aktualnej ankiety – dobrze wiedzieć, że tak wiele osób wybrało odpowiedź pierwszą Chyba z czytaniem nie jest jednak w naszym kraju tak źle jak mówią xD Rozbroiły mnie za to 3 głosy na ostatnią opcję ;P

It was just a day or so ago I announced the beginning of the “last” koi painting (with “last” being understood as a relative term).  I am in finishing mode, I said.  The picture above, stored at my secret bunker studio in an undisclosed location in Washington DC is among those in need of the finishing.  Having established that fact, I promise I will not discuss the koi pond every day between now and the final strokes (of either the brush or the crayon).

Finishing the pictures is a task unto itself, with its own erratic schedule, creative whimsy, strategies and longish time spans.   Finishing is like Phase II in relation to which creating the first overall image (or “blocking in”) was just the framework.  Everyone is different.  I seem to never start a picture and continue straight through to its completion.  I start a whole bunch of pictures, often supposing that various ones are “almost” done, only to go back to them again and again realizing that the topic held much more than I ever supposed.

On one level, one could say that finishing a picture involves adding more details — except that the details are as variable as the whole picture is, as amorphous, as open to discovery.  Indeed, it’s in the discovering of whatever “details” there are that I seem so often to find out what the painting is.  As though the painting were a large flat surface filled with doors, each detail seems to provide an access to some kind of world lying behind the picture’s surface.

I often don’t know where to start when I recommence work on a picture.  I just pick somewhere and get to scribbling.  It’s almost as though you could play a piece of music by beginning arbitrarily upon any measure and still turn out okay!  (A reason why I prefer painting to music.) 

Since the koi are (and must be) based upon photos, this opening of doors, happens when I translate sections of photos into the picture.  The transcription of a photo into a picture can be a very creative endeavor, and the same is equally true about the details of a photo.  I find that the details become virtually pictures in themselves or almost pictures within pictures. 

I look at a bit of photo that is perhaps a few centimeters across as I hold it in my hand (enlarged above) and draw whatever features I notice, whatever strikes my fancy, exactly in the order in which my fancy is struck.  You can see a fish that swims underneath what looks like a reflection caught in the wave crests.  The warm orange colored koi with black spots and stripes slides under and also (it seems) through this dark veil.  The reflection both reveals and hides the fish. 

Translating it into crayon, as seen below on a different koi, I draw and scribble out shapes of colors.  Later I go back into these passages with other colors, that adjust or contrast with them.  The drawing with crayon resembles a warp and weft of fabric strands and can produce the most astonishing color effects, that seem naturalistic from a distance, but which are a crazy quilt of transpositions up close.

It’s both naturalistic and abstract simultaneously.

Later in the morning I was turning round in my mind the question of whether to add a large koi to the lower left of the picture.  I have a good candidate, but I wasn’t sure whether to put him in there or not.  I decided to rough him in, drawing over top an earlier idea that I had for that section.  When I was younger, I would never have attempted to put something so haphazardly into a drawing of this kind, but these days I know I can draw the guy.  It’s just a question of yes or no.  Slopping him into the pond with a few scrubbly colors doesn’t faze me because I realize my drawing skills are up to the task of rendering him, and I know these crayons are tough enough to take enough layers of work to “forgive” a few tactical changes.

The fish shapes get his size and position.  I’ll put more fish into his form on another occasion.  In the picture above he still floats over the shape of the earlier version.  By the time I got finished this morning’s work, some of the earlier drawing had already begun being covered up.  I’m going to draw the guy, too, on a separate sheet to get to know him better.  I can’t help begin thinking of these fish as individuals, almost as though they were pets. 

Still standing back to see how the new guy will get along with the rest of the pond.  He’s a big guy, a regular Moby Dick.

I just realized that the majority of my posts have been about Lamar. Boo. Yuck. Hiss. I promise that for the rest of the post, I won’t mention it.

D. just turned thirty, and is having a Halloween party on Saturday for his b-day. He as working off shore on his *real* birthday, and besides, his original due date was 10/31 before his mother decided to induce labor early, so it’s cool. Honestly, I think I’d rather stay at home, watch scary movies, and hand out candy this year, but I can’t do that to D. He came to Scotland for my wedding! He’s my buddy! He’s got my back, so I’ll be there, come Hell or crappy costume.

G., L., and baby A. are planning to visit the States in the new year. I haven’t seen baby A. yet, but I can’t wait to pinch her little cheeks! I also get a kick out of watching Gregg hold babies – he acts so scared when he’s around them, but I think he warms up quickly.

Mom is coming for Thanksgiving! I’m so excited! She hasn’t seen the house yet, and I get a WHOLE WEEK OFF OF WORK! We haven’t worked out the details yet, but I can’t wait to see her. I keep trying to send hints about buying a house in Houston her way, but she hasn’t taken the bait yet.

Gregg took his A+ Certification tests last Friday and passed with flying colors! He’s now a dreaded IT nerd. After spending so long bad mouthing them, I don’t know I’ll be able to rectify this situation. No we just have to get his scrawny butt a job.

The pond is… oh, screw it. I’m not going to lie. The pond is a great big mud hole in the back yard. I’m hoping that we’ll get it done by Thanksgiving, but it’s a daunting task. Thank God Gregg and Steve seem to be fairly keen on the project and work on it every weekend.

And I think that’s pretty much it. See, I have been things other than just complaining.
